Im new to pots and I’m just not sure how to shift over my whole lifestyle. I’m at a point where I’ve been completely non-functional for 5 months now. I can barely shower (not hotter than room temp) without stepping out just because I stand for too long. I can’t cook without pulling up a stool. I don’t go anywhere or do anything because I can’t. I’ve just been laying in bed for the most part because whenever I push myself too hard I pay for it later. I’m lucky enough that I work from home as an advisor. However I’ve been on a medical leave because I just feel so unwell overall that I have trouble staying focused and actually working. I’ve been so nauseous and have always been very sensitive when it comes to nausea. I’m the type of person to throw up all the time. But drs are telling me it’s unrelated. My friends and family have a hard time understanding the severity and so they try to help but they don’t always know how and it’s not their fault. I just feel so scared and so alone🥲 so how do you guys manage it all?? And if u have tips on drs and appointments would love to hear those too🫶

Hi all! I've been reading some of your posts here and appreciating all you guys do for people. I'm here to ask some questions about how to break up 12.5hrs of care per week. I am a chronically ill human who has been approved by my state to privately hire my own person from anywhere, without needing credentials (that part is weird to me, but okay). Details to follow:
Small backstory, sob story edited out: I have been approved by my state's home care agencies/insurance to hire my own personal care assistant for a maximum of 12.5hrs a week, spread over 5 days. Some of my prescribed ADL's and iADL's include" meal prep, cutting food to eat, light housekeeping, laundry, getting me up in the morning (I'm dizzy and in high pain), assisting with passing bathing items & listening at bath, washing hair, help with buttons & clasps, giving a twice monthly subcutaneous injection, and accompanying to medical appointments as needed.
Tl:dr: Professionally speaking, in an in-home setting with an independent late 20's person, how long would assisting with ADLs: (bathing, food prep, dressing, very light mobility, light housekeeping, and laundry) take you to complete--and how would you split them up into a week? I’ve given my wife one of my old WOT accounts max tier 5 having worked up to tier 7 and we are mostly playing tier 4-7 (mean 6). She gets in on average 1-2 shots of damage per battle. She doesn’t know how to play light tanks or brawl. She hates non turreted tank destroyers. We only play in platoons. I try to explain my thought process and what I’m thinking and the different mechanics but she isn’t improving. Some issues are just situational awareness, not seeing things in front of her and having trouble translating things on the map to her situation. We have been watching tip videos and skill. But I feel as though I’m at a loss as to how to help at this point. I’ve got around 15k games and have been playing off and on since 2011. So I guess I take a lot of my game knowledge for granted.
What are some more productive ways to help my wife improve?

When I was 18 I met my ex-boyfriend (24M), we'll call him Dick. Conveniently I met him at a traphouse as he was selling wed at the time. I was pursuing my bachelors (which I completed) and also started my career in an office job, two completely different worlds. Well, I took a liking to him because he was so my type, I wasn’t necessarily seeking a relationship but I shot my shot very confidently and we fell hard for each other (I’m talking moving into his father’s home a week of knowing each other, ironically his dad was a director with a nice home and it gave me an excuse to move away from my toxic family). We were together 24/7, but things were quite toxic because I guess I was quite immature and insecure (think crazy Latina), and he was not really the best influence. However, we loved each other very much, he was my first love. It became sort of obsession for me. Well 2 years into dating (after we got kicked out of his father’s complex due to fighting and had to move to my mom’s home) we had a huge fight and he left *radio silence. I then found out that he was now dealing with ccaine after hanging around a new group of guys who do the same thing. I had zero self-respect and kept trying to contact him, until I moved out to a nice apartment on my own at 20. We somehow started seeing each other again and he wanted to move in with me, so we got back together, but things were’nt the same. With his newly found job and friends, he started to stay out late nights pretty much every day, I’d find condoms in his bags and ask who they were for, and he said his friends, I’d believe him. I’d find him talking to girls on his phone and I’d confront him, and he always said it’s not what it looks like, they’re just “clients” or “friends”. I 100% believed him, because I could not fathom my best friend is capable of doing this. He started to embarrass me in front of others in public, as if he didn’t want to be around me. My mental health was deteriorating and my anxiety through the roof to the point I can’t breath. One night he never came home and I had a suspicion he was at a hotel, I left home at 3/4am and went to that hotel and saw his car in the parking lot. When he came home the next morning he said he slept by his friends house but later admitted to solicitation for one of his friends but he had nothing to do with it. : So I had enough and got him to share his location. After this he again did not come home and I saw his location was at his father’s house, I went there and waited for them to come out, it was him, his friend who is wanted by police, and two known prostitutes. Despite this, I stayed. Fast forward I am now 24 years old and we are continuing to argue almost on a daily basis at my apartment. I was yearning for his love and felt so alone, he didn’t want to take me anywhere. One Friday night (Sept 2022) I was I wanted to do something with him (I was home alone), he said he was at some bar and I came to meet him. He acted as if I almost never existed. Well, we met two tourists who were his clients and he asked if I can stay at the bar with them and he’ll be back later. : Naturally I got so upset because NO, I don’t want to stay here with these two strangers. Well this led to a huge argument in the car, and eventually it go physical. He ended up pushing me out of the parked car and drove over my leg which ended up being skinned at the back. Then, radio silence. A few days later I found him at my apartment packing up his stuff, I cried. He didn’t care, and he said something along the lines of “that’s why I cheated on you because I don’t care”. Naturally I was heartbroken, but I was tired of chasing him. I was so angry at him for doing me the way he did. I was tired of choosing him over me. So after that day I never contacted him again. A week later I hear that he was seen at a bar with a 17-year-old girl on his lap (he was 27 at this time). In November 2022, he “accidently” messaged me at 5am, but I ignored. I later found out that he was still dating that 17-year-old, and he has been with her I believe on and off since then. In June of 2022 (while we were still together), his buddy was sentenced to 6 years in prison as they found cell phone conversations suggesting he was a cke dealer, his buddy said the police presented many exchanges between him and Dick as they worked together, this resulted in an investigation on Dick which we were unaware about. I told Dick maybe stop altogether and lay low, but no one could stop him. The investigation came to light in 2024, when police informed him of this and put a monitoring device on him while they investigate further. Shortly after, about January 2024, police respond to a tip (apparently by one of the neighbors) that Dick was harboring dugs in a hedge behind their complex. Police found about half a brick and hence a search for Dick ensued. I guess Dick got word of this and so he cut off his monitor and went on the run, he was renting a rural house and stayed there with his gf for months until the police raided the home. They found lbs of ccaine (apparently bricks which I assume a couple kgs), an unlicensed firearm, other hard drgs, and a large quantity of cash. As of February 2024, he has been charged with intent to supply ccaine and tampering with an ankle monitor and has been in remand since then. However, he seems to not be phased at all, which is slightly alarming, as it just shows how much he’s accepted his life now, and it’s almost as though he gets a thrill from this. For context, when we were together he got into a high speed chase with the police and got convicted for supplying marijana, he got 2 years suspended sentence as it was his first ever charges, luckily that night I decided to go out with my gfs instead of joining him. I thank the universe and God for keeping me safe through the 4 years I was with him, because I could have been caught up in the mix. I am grateful that he left me because I wouldn’t have been strong enough to do it on my own, I really do feel like my angels were keeping me safe because it was 4 months after the breakup that police made it known they were onto him, and about 1 year after that he was raided and went to prison. I can’t imagine what would happen had I stayed. Moral of the story, a man can fck your whole life up, so be careful and be strong when you feel something doesn’t feel right listen to your gut feeling. My regret is that I didn’t have the self-respect to leave him on my own, I wish I did and I wish I did it the very first time I knew I should of, it would have spared me a lot of embarrassment. Today, I have a great career and a successful business, I am travelling and in the best shape of my life. My mental state is probably the healthiest it’s ever been and I am now surrounded by positive, healthy people who look out for the best for me. Thank you for listening to my story, I just wanted to get this off my chest.
TL;DR - my ex caused me severe emotional pain and anguish, but now I’m in the healthiest state I have ever been. He is now in prison because of what he did.

Now this video was around during the old YouTube days in 2011, and since then, I have not been able to find on the site. I know it’s most likely been taken down due to copyright, but I swear this video isn’t some sort of fever dream. It’s been at the back of my mind for YEARS and I cannot find it anywhere. A month or so ago I busted my phone, and it was a huge pain in the ass. Aside from some lost data which was minor, the biggest PIA was resetting MFA, getting in touch with my US banks, and any other services that were tied to my phone. The experience also made me take a step back and realize I am pretty lax with security, and if someone had gotten hold of my phone and somehow god-forbid gotten the passcode, then I'd be fucked. They could do so much damage with unlimited access to my email + MFA SMS, even in just a few hours.
As a result, I kind of went down the ADHD rabbit hole hyper-fixating on how best to "optimize" my iPhone and iCloud configuration for two things:
The eSIM has been very helpful for maintaining a US phone number for which I can receive SMS texts from my banks and other financial services as well as continue to use iMessage with all my US contacts since hardly anybody is on Whatsapp.
Most, if not all, carriers in the US support eSIMs now, and so you should try to find a carrier that offers an international pay-as-you-go plan. Verizon offers two international plans - one is a "Travel Pass" where it's a flat fee of $10/day anywhere outside the US or Canada (even for just one text message). The other is "pay for what you use" which has a rate per text, minute, and mb. For my US plan, I only care about receiving SMS texts from my banks and the occasional phone call to a service that doesn't have an international, toll-free number. Data will always be cheaper outside the US, so I disable cellular data switching for my US line.
The last time I was in the US was for the holidays and I bought 2 used iPhone 12's for about $200 each. They have some scuffs, but they're perfectly serviceable. In LATAM, it also doesn't attract nearly as much unwanted attention in the street as an iPhone 14 or 15.
I brought these with me as extra devices. When my phone busted last month, thankfully I had a backup in iCloud and everything was loaded in a few minutes as normal. This was before I was using the eSIM, but if I had the eSIM I could just go to Verizon support online via chat and they could help me switch the line to the new device easily.

As a result, I kind of went down the ADHD rabbit hole hyper-fixating on how best to "optimize" my iPhone and iCloud configuration for two things:
So I put together this guide and checklist that I thought I'd share with others. I am a programmer but by no means a security guru, and so if any IT, DevOps, or SecOps folks want to chime-in with suggestions or improvements, please do.
- If it breaks, the transition to a new device will be relatively painless. I won't have to spend several days stressing and trying to find the right international customer support number for a myriad of institutions and services to get into my accounts.
- If it gets stolen and compromised, then there will be enough barriers such that the I'll have enough time to lock down the device and/or my accounts remotely before the thief can get key data or move funds.
Requirements
- an iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone SE (2nd generation), and iPhone 14 or newer for eSIM compatibility.
- a US-based carrier with eSIM support + a pay-as-you-go model for international travel (I use Verizon)
- iOS 17 or above (may not be strictly necessary, but I know my setup works with iOS 17.4.1)
- a password manager. I personally use 1Password because it works, is reliable, has cross-device support, and is easy and intuitive. It's also only $3/month.
Dual Sim Setup
I have been rocking an iPhone 12 for the past few years, and it's served me very well. I know the newer iPhones (14 and up) no longer offer physical SIM card support, but carriers in most developing countries are behind the curve. Even if they offer eSIM support, it's been my experience that it's a major headache to get setup, there is a lack of customer support in English, and they may even require a local ID to register the eSIM. It's way easier to just head to a shop and pay $5 for a SIM card, load some funds onto it, and then you're good to go.The eSIM has been very helpful for maintaining a US phone number for which I can receive SMS texts from my banks and other financial services as well as continue to use iMessage with all my US contacts since hardly anybody is on Whatsapp.
Most, if not all, carriers in the US support eSIMs now, and so you should try to find a carrier that offers an international pay-as-you-go plan. Verizon offers two international plans - one is a "Travel Pass" where it's a flat fee of $10/day anywhere outside the US or Canada (even for just one text message). The other is "pay for what you use" which has a rate per text, minute, and mb. For my US plan, I only care about receiving SMS texts from my banks and the occasional phone call to a service that doesn't have an international, toll-free number. Data will always be cheaper outside the US, so I disable cellular data switching for my US line.
The last time I was in the US was for the holidays and I bought 2 used iPhone 12's for about $200 each. They have some scuffs, but they're perfectly serviceable. In LATAM, it also doesn't attract nearly as much unwanted attention in the street as an iPhone 14 or 15.
I brought these with me as extra devices. When my phone busted last month, thankfully I had a backup in iCloud and everything was loaded in a few minutes as normal. This was before I was using the eSIM, but if I had the eSIM I could just go to Verizon support online via chat and they could help me switch the line to the new device easily.
Basic Configurations
- Always use the latest version of firmware
- Require a passcode that's unique to that device.
- Use FaceID instead of passcode when possible (a thief can't snipe your passcode from a distance if you unlock your phone with FaceID)
- Set auto-lock to 30 seconds (lowest possible)
- Erase data upon excessive passcode failures note, this is complemented in a later step with daily backups. The odds of you putting in the wrong passcode 10 times is low, but in the event you do and you wipe the device by accident, you should be able to easily load in a back-up from the previous day)
- Turn off "Ask to Join Networks"
- Forget unused networks so that you don't rejoin automatically (airports, hotels, etc.)
Creating Backups
- Set iCloud backups to run automatically every night. This will allow you to load your entire phone as is (contacts, call history, iMessages, apps, even your wallpaper) onto another device during setup. The iCloud backup usually runs at 2am while I'm sleeping.
- You may need to pay for a higher tier in iCloud if you have too much stored on your phone. It's $3/month for 200gb of iCloud storage, and I find it worth it. Though I know some people with tens of thousands of photos for which 200gb might not be enough.
Password Policy
- For any accounts that may contain sensitive data (payments, PII, etc), always generate a unique password with 1Password. Don't reuse passwords. Same goes for PIN codes.
- For core accounts, create a strong but memorable password and then memorize it. The odds of getting locked out of 1Password are low if you're diligent, but for 2 or 3 core accounts (where you access money, your primary recovery email, your iCloud, 1Password), it's worth it to create strong, unique passwords for each core service and memorize them.
- I try not to reuse passwords in general, but I still sometimes am lazy and use one of my handful of typical passwords if there's no sensitive data collected by the service and it's a service I don't use often.
MFA
Set up MFA with everything. Add multiple options if possible. My preferred MFA options are as follows:- One-time code that renews every 30 seconds. This is device agnostic and can be stored in 1Password. You could also use Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, Authy or similar, but there's just more overhead to now recover those accounts if your device becomes inaccessible.
- One-time code to recovery email.
- One-time code via SMS to my US phone number. On the pay-as-you-go Verizon plan, I only pay 5 cents per text message received. It's worth it to keep one consistent number.
- List of recovery codes (stored in 1Password as an attached txt file for the given account)
- Use another app for verification (Google does this a lot).
Lockdown your iCloud security
- Enable MFA.
- Create a strong, unique password.
- Remove any old or unused devices from the iCloud account (old phones, ipods, etc).
- Enable "Find My" for all of your devices.
- In Find My, configure all devices to send the last known location.
- In Find My, enable the configuration to remotely wipe a device.
Final Clean-Up
- Move any compromising photos to the "hidden" folder (which requires FaceID or passcode to unlock)
- Review the Files app for any documents containing sensitive info. If you need these documents to be accessible on mobile, then move them to 1Password and delete them from the Files app.
- Create a shortcut to trigger the lock screen (and thus require FaceID or passcode) when specific apps are opened (banking, email, photos, etc).
- Not sure if this is best practice, but I just keep everything in 1P and turn off apple keychain and the apple built-in password manager. I also don't save passwords in Chrome or Safari.
Extra tips
These aren't really iPhone tips but general tips. They are probably obvious to you if you aren't as scatterbrained as me, but I figured that I'd drop them here in case they help someone.- Add thorough security measures to iCloud, primary email, and any banking or financial services. Review each account and make sure you have a strong, unique password as well as a unique PIN, MFA configured, login alerts, recovery codes, and an international, 24-hour toll-free phone number stored somewhere to contact the service in the event of a crisis. For banking services, add withdrawal limits, regional restrictions (if you bounce between the same few countries), and SMS notifications for charges over a certain threshold. Open up a second checking account with a separate debit card for trips to the ATM.
- Consolidate and close any unused bank accounts. I realized that on my phone I had Revolut, Venmo, Paypal, Nequi, plus 4 US banking institutions. I took this time to close my Discover account (which is pretty much useless outside the US anyway), close my Revolut account since I'm hardly ever in the UK/EU, and consolidate investment accounts from different institutions into just a handful that's easier to monitor.

Recently I’ve been doing 30 minutes of elliptical/treadmill burning an average of 300 calories each time. After that I will go do pull ups or chin ups and then maybe some machine bench press or shoulder lifts (planet fitness). My goal is to look moderately fit and feel “good enough” shirtless. I’m not looking to be jacked but want to be noticeably in shape. I’m currently 185lbs 6’1 and eating at a calorie deficiency tracking to lose 1lb a week until I’m 175lb. I just don’t feel like I’ve got that dog in me to become huge/shredded but want to atleast look decent at the beach.
Will this combo of moderate fitness get me anywhere? Looking for encouragement and any other advice.
BONUS QUESTION: I am going to a bachelor party in Sandiego June 7th. Any hardcore (maybe unsustainable) tips I could do to pump it up before then?

this is my first time posting on reddit, but i genuinely don’t know who else to ask and i really need advice now. so i’m 18F and i work at a zoo. i mostly do attractions and stuff but recently i met a new hire at the dolphin exhibit station, we’ll call him John (26-30M), who just seemed pretty extroverted and chill like my other coworkers. it was me, John, and an older female coworker working this section and it was pretty slow so we mostly talked.
here’s what bothered me first: this goober was staring at my chest every single time he talked to me. zero eye contact, just staring directly at my chest (we all wear the same uniform so it’s not like i was exposed anywhere or anything). not only that but he continues to do so every time he sees me, and when he does he rushes over to talk to me. another example is when i was working at the parking booth, he held up the line of cars to STAND in front of my window and just stare while talking to me and the whole thing really disgusted me. a similar thing happened a couple weeks ago at a different section, and i always cut it short so he leaves fast. today, i was at the dolphin exhibit again and my supervisor let me know i’d be covering a break at an attraction before going on my own break. i went and saw i was covering John’s break, which was no issue because that meant i wouldnt have to interact with him much since he was going on lunch. so i went and came back, and now she told me that he asked for ME SPECIFICALLY to cover a bathroom break at 2:30. the exact time i’m supposed to clock out (note i never told him where i was stationed, or when i leave). she apparently asked him “how do you know that you need to use the bathroom at 2:30? and why didn’t you go while you were on break?” and i guess didnt get a clear answer. i told her he makes me super uncomfortable and if she really needed me to cover that id rather cover someone else in a different area of the park so they could go cover his bathroom break in my place. my supervisor said he asked for me and if i didn’t go he’d be upset. i said “don’t i have a right to say no too? he makes me uncomfortable i don’t know what else to say.”
now here’s where i’d be the asshole, apparently he has autism, something i had NO idea about. i found out when i texted another coworker asking if i should go to HR like i’ve been considering lately because i want there to be some kind of boundary set, or at least be stationed away from him, but she told me that i should just be more accommodating and implied i was ableist. so i’m really really confused. would i be the asshole if i reported this stuff to HR? am i really just supposed to deal with it? if i am, can anyone give tips on how to handle this situation without quitting? this is my best paying job right now and i really cant afford to quit.

Well… I technically didn’t GET them anywhere, I made them. I only made them once before and they lasted for decades. submitted by Pinchaser71 to gardening [link] [comments] Unfortunately, we moved a few times over the years and that aren’t exactly something you’re going to throw in a moving truck with your furniture. Plus they’d take up a lot of room in a truck. Needless to say they were left behind. I wouldn’t be surprised to find them still there. Moving forward to now, 15 years later I’m finally in an appropriate home to start over with what will likely be my finally batch I’ll ever need. I’m including a how to with photos if you’d like to make these for yourself. I figured since so many people ask me locally, maybe you all in this subreddit may appreciate it. What you need: “Concrete reinforcement mesh” rolls, bolt cutters, needle nose pliers, several heavy bricks (pavers, cinder blocks) or other heavy objects, gloves and safety glasses. Photo 1. Here is a roll of “Concrete reinforcement mesh” purchased from the local hardware store as shown. It’s basically a roll of rusty steel wire. This is a 50’ roll which will make exactly 10 cages. It comes in 50,100,150 and 200 foot rolls. 200’ rolls will require 2 people to move it, this stuff is HEAVY! Pro tip: if you’re throwing this in a van/SUV be sure to bring a crappy blanket to lay down inside, unless you want rust on your interior. Photo 2: Roll out the mess on a flat surface and hold it down with the bricks. Otherwise it will roll back up on you. Photo 3: Count 10 square holes from the end lengthwise. Approximately 5’. Photo 4: using the bolt cutters (or good strong wire cutters), start cutting each wire across as shown. Make sure to cut each wire equal length all the way down trying to get as close to flush as you can. Note: Keep a couple pavers handy until you get to the last few wires to cut. Place one on the side that your cutting off and one on the roll side. The wire will want to roll up and you don’t want to get cut, scratched or poked when it springs back! Obviously the tighter it’s round the more it’s going to want to unroll and spring up. Just please use caution as right now you have freshly cut sharp ends of rusty springy wire that will mess you up! If not, I hope your Tetanus shot is up to date! Photo 5: This is what it should look like when you’re finished with your cuts. You should now have a 5’ x 5’ square of the wire mess with 3 flat sides and 1 with cut wires. Photo 6: using your needle nose pliers, bend the end of the wires you just cut to form hooks. Try to get them all uniform in size so your length stays consistent, you’ll see why in photo 8 & 9. Photo 7: using the bolt cutters, start cutting one of the flat sides off as shown, similar to what you just did cutting it to length. Photo 8: This is what the side should look like when you’ve finished cutting off the flat side. You should now have a 5’x5’ square piece of wire mesh with two flat sides, one side with hooks and one side with straight cut wires. Photo 9: Now evenly roll the side with the hooks to the opposite end and place a couple of the hooks on the end. It will form a circle. When a couple are secured now you can stand it on the end you cut off in photo 7. With it standing, secure the remaining loose hooks around the end wire as shown. If you didn’t make your hooks uniform length as stated then you’ll be having issues on this step. If they are too short or uneven they won’t reach or make your cage not round. Photo 10: using needle nose, squeeze the hooks closed all the way down so the wire can’t slip out. It takes a bit of force to close them. When they are closed, this is what they should look like. Photo 11: Once all the hooks are closed you notice the cage is rather egg shaped. Lay it on its side with the hooks on the bottom and simply pressed down like you’re going to flatten it. All you’re trying to do is make it round instead of egg shaped. Photo 12: once its round you can safely stand it back up standing on the cut off end. Photo 13: Take it to your garden and place it where you’d like Photo 14: Once it’s where you want it, simply step on the bottom wire and the cut wires will easily sink into the ground holding it in place. Photo 15: TADA! You now have a 5’ high about 18” diameter tomato cage. It will last you virtually a lifetime. They don’t blow over from wind once you stick them in the ground. They certainly don’t bend easy like this expensive cheaply made flimsy funnel shaped ones you can buy. The 6”x6” holes give you very easy access to pick your tomatoes and to pluck weeds from around your plants. My tomato plants always loved these cages and grew up tall and strong from many years. Storage of the cages is the one downfall. You could of course keep them in place in the garden all winter if you choose. Otherwise you can stack them with them laying on their side. Obviously since the ends are rusty steel spikes, you may want to stack them with that end butt up to a fence out something where nobody will be walking behind the stack getting shanked. The alternative is instead of cutting these with the hooks like I do, you could instead cut them flush and hold them together using zip ties. In the fall you could just cut them off and stack the 5’x5’ squares of flat mesh. It’s up to you but not my preferred method as zip tires like to break and get brittle from the weather. Anyway, hopefully you guys like these tomato cages. I also hope my instructions are clear. It’s easy to think they are when you’re there who knows what you are doing, more difficult when you not. If you have any questions please ask. Also, if you like these and make them, let me know! Two last things... Avoid bending the wires you are using as spikes sticking in the ground. Bending them too many times will break them off! On the upside, if you break them off you can always cut another row off the bottom and you’re good as new. You’ll just lose 6” in height. Second, you can make these cages for other plants like peppers, eggplants or whatever too. You’d likely make them narrower half the height. For tomatoes, these are the perfect size for spacing the plants out and height wise. |
