2024.05.14 04:25 Odd-Sherbet-2104 Employment Assistance

Hi all!
I am on the hunt for new employment, and I would like to know, if anyone here can point me in the right direction as I navigate my new jobs search?
I have the most experience in the E-Commerce, phone centeclient services industry. I have completed all the necessary steps like updating resume, filing applications and creating my CV. I would like to stay in the field with some operational roles ideally.
Anyone have some valuable tips for where else I should be conducting and submitting my resume to minus the major platforms (LinkedIn, Indeed, etc)?
Thank you! I appreciate all who provide input ✌️

2024.05.14 04:12 Gold-Bluebird3920 Career change to Tech

No coding experience but very eager to learn. I was a former healthcare professional student and kind of burnt out/not sure if it's the best fit for me anymore. I learn best from application and hands on, versus regurgitating information which I think is why i'm leaning away from healthcare.
Wondering what would be the best way to transition? getting a masters in CS or just doing bootcamps? Money isn't necessarily a problem but I want to get the best chance of landing a job in the future (I've only looked at WashU and Launchcode but would love to get more info).
I'm very persistent and resilient, i love to problem solve. I don't know if cybersecurity, coding, or UX design would have the best outcomes in this job market/where i can learn but i am open to anything. Thank you.

2024.05.14 04:09 InternationalAd4447 2020 macbook pro trouble shooting

I purchased my macbook in 2020 at the beginning of my undergraduate degree and have used it almost everyday since. It has worked great, but in the last month or two I have noticed some problemos.
I used to close my macbook lid and it would sleep, and hold charge (unplugged). Now when I close the lid, it does not sleep (my screen time shows that I am on my laptop when im not). I wake up and go to work to find my laptop battery is drained to 0… it could be at 100% the night prior.
Weirder, now when I close the lid of my laptop, the clock stops. And when reopened, it displays the time at which it was last opened.
I have limited applications and downloads. Lots of files from my university studies, I had tried downloading a free version (bootlegged) of graph pad to help with new job. But soon deleted because it did not function.
I have tried trouble shooting using advice from reddit and such to no resolve. If any advice as to what this could be?? Malware? Virus? Please comment. I do not have money to buy a new mac and this one has been so reliable for me over the past 4 years of constant usage!! Thanks.

2024.05.14 04:08 dateraviator0824 Trying for ANG for 4 years, no progress, what now?

I've been rushing squadrons for the last 4 years, was able to get some interviews but not able to secure a pilot slot.
I had my hopes on a squadron I interviewed with last year, they told me to apply again next board and said they'll do age waiver for me if chosen. I attended their rush event a few weeks ago, some of them remembered me, and thought it went well. I just got notified that I was not selected even for an interview, pretty heartbreaking since I thought I'll get a chance to at least interview to try to earn that pilot slot.
I'm 34 and not really sure what to do now. I assume I'm too old to go active duty, would a recruiter take me seriously and entertain an age waiver with my stats since I have AFOQT and PCSM done? I keep in touch with fellow applicants I've met and a few of them ended up getting an active duty pilot slot through the Navy, does anybody know about their stance on age waivers?
Stats: Pilot 99, PCSM 96, CFI, 400 hours, MS degree, senior leadership at current job
I've heard from an applicant that there are unsponsored AF reserve pilot slots? Anyone with experience with that?
Thanks

2024.05.14 04:04 NoMessage6451 Software Engineer Jobs

My husband was laid off a few days before Christmas. I've been stay-at-home since August of 2020 due to COVID and my son's respiratory health problems. Despite multiple applications, interviews, etc, etc....we are still without an income. I'm trying to rush through my certification to find a stable, well-paying job. Does anyone have recommendations or possible places of employment? From what o know he's best at Ruby, but is capable of other programs. Thanks for any help.

2024.05.14 04:03 RevolutionaryRock603 Clerking to Excess

For context, I graduated with my JD from a mid-tier law school in 2019 and my LLM from a T14 in 2020. I knew early on in my career that I wanted to clerk for a District Court (“DC”) judge, but due to shabby 1L grades, I knew I needed experience before I would be a competitive applicant.
My first job out of law school was at a public interest law firm, assisting folks affected by the Pandemic. My boss was wonderfully light on the reigns and let me attend at least 20 hearings on my own and handle other various tasks with minimal oversight.
I then nabbed a state Supreme Court clerkship and was there from 2021-2022. When my term expired, the pickings for post-clerkship jobs were slim. I fell into a pro se clerkship position in a fairly prestigious district but was stuck in a holding pattern there for about 18 months.
I then was hired by a newly-appointed magistrate judge to be their first clerk, after my mentor forwarded them my resume.
Frustratingly, after my judge hired me — and to be clear I love my judge, three DC judges called me for an interview which I, of course, had to decline.
I am now starting to think about post-clerkship jobs. As I previously mentioned, it has been a personal goal of mine to clerk for DC judge, and, should I decide to apply, I think I have a good chance of securing a clerkship with one of the judges who called me for an interview. But I worry that I have been clerking for too long. Beyond clerkships, I want to become an AUSA and eventually a judge. I don’t think I need the DC clerkship to become an AUSA, but I worry that without it, my chances of becoming a judge will become slimmer. If I’ve learned anything since graduation, prestige and connections matter in the legal profession.
I am confident that should I head to the DOJ after this (or a subsequent) clerkship, my years of clerking won’t be too heavily frowned upon — if at all. However, I know how competitive those positions are and need a backup plan. If I couldn’t — for whatever reason — be an AUSA after my clerkship, would I be competitive when applying to big law firms? If yes, what class year could I expect to enter as?

2024.05.14 04:01 _ag3nt_ Teased me for 2 months just to reject me.

Hey guys, so I'm in the automation and controls industry. I have been working as engineer for the past 2 and a half years, safe to say I'm ahead of entry level. My company is relatively small, so I decided to start applying for new jobs (starting about 6 months ago). For this specific company, I applied using LinkedIn so I saw whenever they viewed my application.
I got an interview back in March for a Controls Project Engineer 1 position in NYC. When speaking to the recruiter, he told me "based on your experience, I can see you skipping ahead and starting you off as a Senior Controls Engineer." He also mentioned how they were massively growing as a company, and they're hiring a lot people. I saw this as 2 big green flags because he made it seem like I was a direct fit.
After a few days, I landed the 2nd round interview with the lead engineer. We bonded for about an hour and it almost didn't even feel like an interview. Any technical question he asked me, I was able to answer with ease and we could conversate about each topic. Towards the end of the interview, he told me that there's still a 3rd round I have to do, and that he's actively interviewing other candidates, then told to me "please be patient!"
So, I remained patient. They made me feel like my life was going to massively upgrade because of the way they described the job to me, the title, and the pay $$$. The entire month of April, I would get an email from LinkedIn saying that they viewed my application. Every week (sometimes twice a week) they view my application, but I hear nothing from them. I waited all the way until the 2nd week of May, and decided to reach out to the recruiter for a follow up. He didn't respond.
This morning, I get an email saying they viewed my application once more. Then 5 minutes later, I get an email from the recruiter saying "Unfortunately, you lack the specific experience the team seeks. Thank you. Best of luck." That's it.

2024.05.14 03:56 Burntsandwich12 Potential Phishing Scam

I clicked on what I think could be a phishing link for an application for a school job sent from a faculty member who I’m suspecting now had their email hacked and the information wanted in the google form (which didn’t seem to out of the norm for something through the school at the time) to apply was name, age, name of bank, if you have a bank account options were yes or no, gender, phone number, school email address (which isn’t connected to any important accounts like a bank account), age and address. I didn’t submit the google form as a response but did type it. What possibly can be accessed with this information and what should I do now to protect myself assuming a scammer got this info?

2024.05.14 03:50 Be_The_Zip Post 3rd interview at a massive US corporation, haven’t heard from the recruiter in a month. Thoughts?

Application still says “Under Consideration” but have heard from the recruiter in over 4 weeks and a new job posting of the exact position I applied for about 3 months ago just opened up.
This is a very large corporation, is this not overly surprising? Any thoughts on when or if I might hear back?
I am still applying and have an interview with another company this week so I didn’t put all my eggs in this basket, but I’m wondering if any recruiters here can provide insights on what they think is going on the company end.

2024.05.14 03:46 North-Syrup-2041 Wanted my daughter to be a dental assistant but failed

My daughter started her job as a dental assistant 2 years ago. 8 months later, she quit due to repeating a mistake & failing to meet competency fast enough as set by her manager. After 5 months of unemployment, she was hired at Walmart & about to reach her 8 months there.
I knew this was going to happen. To start off, she’s mistake prone, sensitive to criticism, & doesn’t put in the effort. I was upset when she told me of her errors before telling her to improve at work. Apparently she didn’t marinate my words & when she told me she received her final warning, I told her she should quit before she can get fired because I knew she’s going to screw up again even if she try.
I want a job where she didn’t have to work overnights, odd hours, & still have time left in her workday to spend with her family & dental assisting is perfect. I also like the idea of her working in an office (I do equate it to an office job) & in uniform & jokingly told her that she should walk around the grocery store in scrubs & though it’s not sanitary, it brings out a sense of pride & importance. She also express her desire for a good looking man & I remind her that no good looking man will want a woman who works at a low tier job because it looks bad on him & since she’s currently at Walmart, she’ll need to lower her expectation.
During her unemployment, she applied to 5 offices & all of them were rejects. I told her that potential employers will call her previous office & if they say her work is terrible, it’ll set off a red flag & they’ll reject her. And her last application was unbelievable. She applied to a 5th office & after they told her they’ll move on to someone else, she called the office in tears. They didn’t buy into it & hung up on her. How pathetic was that?
I was happy that dental professionals here were criticizing her with one dentist saying that he wouldn’t hire her. If she could fail at one office, she’ll fail at every office even if she try. How do I know this without ever seeing her assist? I don’t, but it doesn’t mean I can’t predict & like I mentioned earlier, she’s mistake prone, sensitive to criticism, gets defensive, & doesn’t give her all. She’s like that at home & I know she’ll be like that at work, each & every time. Yes she was raped as a child, but that shouldn’t be an excuse. She’s like this because she wants to, not because from the trauma. She acted like people should be extra kind to her but nope, victim or not, if you make a mistake, you’ll be scorned the same way.
I want her to be a dental assistant because it’s easy, better for her & her future family. But since she’s now working at Walmart, she better be prepared to be look down upon & be at the low ranks I know everybody at her previous work hates her.

2024.05.14 03:37 Kgxo123 Background check question pertaining to significant others.

I was looking online at a hospitals application that I worked at in the past under requirements it had stated that because you will be working directly with children you need to meet requirements for the child protective services act. This includes, state police background check, department of welfare and child abuse criminal background clearance and fbi fingerprint.
Now I am not a RSO but my boyfriend is. He’s currently incarcerated and I was worrying if us living together would come up on these background checks, or have any affect on my job or switching hospitals in the future. We are not married nor will we ever be. I have obviously done these checks in the past but never had anything like this to worry about coming up.
Was curious if anyone can let me know if so, or if your significant others who may work in healthcare or childcare had any issues. Thanks in advance.

2024.05.14 03:35 Ok_Tangerine_2137 Is an MBA a good return on investment today?

Hi guys, I really need some advice!
I have a bachelors in hospitality management that I got many years ago. I used to work catering/events, but got burned out from the physical labolong hours and I had a kid. I taught for a few years, but then decided to go back for prerequisites to apply to dental school. Well I finished all the prerequisites and started studying for my DAT and landed a pretty good remote/travel job that pays decently and gives me a corporate card/benefits/etc. Although the salary is good it’s not where I aspire to stay, hence why I was going to dental school. But in this 1 year hiatus from being in “study/application” mode I no longer desire to go into healthcare and want to stay in corporate America.
I am still in my late 20s and I feel as if I need another degree in order to make up for my lack of experience in other areas. Yes I have applied for jobs outside of mine, but I have constantly been told my degree isn’t in a relevant field/I don’t have the experience. I’m considering an MBA as there are a lot of higher paying salaries at my current workplace, but a masters is almost necessary. (I’m probably in the 10% of employees without one). I am not well versed in higher education, is an MBA a good return on the investment in this day and age? Are their any other grad programs I should look into that do have a nice roi in your late 20s?
