So for starters I live in Italy. Recently I saw a sale at my local retailer selling the Q600C for 200€. I heard that soundbars are absolute trash, but I'm not sure in this case. I saw a listing for the Numan Octavox 702 80€ used and an ancient Denon AVR 1909 for 110€. Are those 80€ speakers really gonna beat a 200€ soundbar with a subwoofer? Also, how do old AVRs fare, and what am I missing out compared to a more modern one?

I understand that the old Fantasy boxes that are still kicking around are almost universally Online Only. Older products seem to make sense. I'm a bit disappointed that everyone's Endless Spells seem online only too but maybe they don't want to bloat shelf space of retailers with options like that. Looking at Seraphon I think, ok everything that is "online only" makes complete sense.
But then I look at Sylvaneth and wonder why Drycha and Lady of the Vines are online only. Aren't those quite recent, and isn't Lady of the Vines less than 2 years old?
Then I go to the Lumineth and am shocked to see bloody half the range is Online Only. Even centerpieces like Teclis. Common mainstay units and recent models like Dawnrides, "Online Only". I don't get it.
Now, the Cynic in me is really worried that GW will transition to a model where they only distribute a chunk of their range to retailers. Spearhead boxes, core units, maybe a few common characters to get people started. But then as a way to limit people going to their local hobby store and getting 15-20% off MSPR, they keep a lot of highly desirable units as Online Only so you have to go through GW meaning they'll get the highest profit. I'm probably just having a tinfoil hat moment there.....

I thought I'd bump it back to the surface given we are nearly 32 years from the event, and hopefully provoke some more discussion on the topic!
Introduction
On 6th June 1992, Suzanne “Suzie” Streeter (age 19) and Stacy McCall (age 18) both graduated from Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri. Graduation always brings an air of celebration... This was no exception for Streeter and McCall, who attended several graduation parties around Springfield and in nearby Battlefield throughout the night. The girls were last seen around 2 am, when they departed from a party at friend Janelle Kirby’s house. While they had initially planned to spend the night at Kirby’s house, they ultimately decided that it was too crowded and decided to return to Streeter’s mother Sherill Levitt’s house for the night. Had the girls decided to stay at Kirby’s house as they’d originally planned, true crime history as we know it might be entirely different, and the tale of the Springfield Three might not exist. Perhaps Streeter and McCall would have wandered home the next morning to find Levitt missing, a tragedy for sure, but one of more than 600,000 persons who go missing in the United States every year. Perhaps the tragedy may have been avoided entirely had they stayed at Kirby’s; without any clear motivation, we can merely speculate. Unfortunately, however, this is not what happened. The two girls made their way home, and they, along with Levitt, were never seen again, alive nor dead. This is the mysterious and disturbing story of the vanishing of the Springfield Three, still unsolved over thirty years later.
The Disappearance
Streeter and McCall were last seen around 2 am leaving friend Janelle Kirby’s graduation party. While some factors could point to this time being unreliable (drinking @ party, overall vibe of celebration, and there was no reason to think that the time they left was significant in the moment), there would have been multiple witnesses at the party who sawthe girls leave, lending more credence to the idea that they did indeed leave around 2 am. By all accounts, the last time anyone heard from Levitt was approx. 11:15 pm, when she spoke with a friend about painting an armoire. Given the seemingly mundane nature of the conversation, it seems likely that the events that led to the vanishing of the Springfield Three had not yet occurred at this time; while it is possible that someone had already broken into the home and was forcing Levitt to “act natural,” this seems highly unlikely given the nature of the conversation and the fact that the friend did not mention anything seeming off or wrong during her conversation with Levitt. Additionally, Streeter and McCall almost certainly made it back to the house. While there are no eyewitnesses, their cars were parked in the driveway, and their purses were found inside. Additionally, McCall’s mother confirmed that the clothes that McCall had been wearing the previous day were found neatly folded inside the house. Streeter and McCall’s friend Kirby states that she attempted to call the house at approximately 8 am and received no response. Therefore, we can say with near certainty that the event that caused the vanishing of the Springfield Three occurred sometime between 11:15 pm on June 6th and 8 am on June 7th -- though much more likely to be between the hours of 2 am and 8 am.
Crime Scene Discovery
On the day of June 7th, Streeter and McCall were scheduled to go to the water park with their friend Janelle Kirby, whose party they had visited the night prior. This is why Kirby had called the house at 8 am that morning. After not receiving an answer or hearing back, Kirby made her way over to the house on 1717 E Delmar Street, along with her boyfriend, around 12:30 pm. They found the door unlocked but nobody home, with the exception of Levitt’s dog Cinnamon, a Yorkshire Terrier, who they claimed seemed agitated. There were no signs of a struggle besides the front porch light, the glass shade of which had been shattered while the lightbulb itself had been left intact. Not realizing that they were snooping around a crime scene, Kirby’s boyfriend swept up the broken glass from the porch lamp, attempting to be kind but in the process possibly contaminating evidence. While in the house, the phone rang, and Kirby answered. She said that the caller made sexual innuendos, and she hung up on them. The phone rang again, but after realizing it was more of the same, Kirby hung up yet again. Likely confused but not panicked, Kirby and her boyfriend left the house. They did not contact law enforcement, as they did not yet realize that a crime had occurred.
Janis McCall’s Discovery
Several hours later, around 7 pm, Janis McCall, Stacy’s mother, grew concerned when she hadn’t been able to contact Stacy, and decided to visit the house. Inside, she found the women’s purses upright and in a line. All the women’s car keys were in their purses, as were their cigarettes. Janis was apparently sufficiently alarmed enough that she called the police from the home phone at 1717 E Delmar Street. After alerting law enforcement, Janis checked the voice mailbox and heard what has only been described as a “strange message” that she accidentally erased before anyone else, including law enforcement, could listen to it.
The Investigation
This investigation has repeatedly lead to dead ends. Local police began investigating the house on June 8th, and the FBI was called in the very next day. Numerous searches were conducted in nearby wooded areas with no luck. Police investigated a number of tips, including one regarding a “transient” or homeless person supposedly seen near the house, one regarding a man pretending to be a utility worker investigating a gas leak, and one involving a Dodge van that was supposedly seen around the house. None of these tips, and many, many more that were submitted both in the immediate aftermath of the vanishing of the Springfield Three and in the years that followed, led to any substantial developments in the case. Before long, the case of the Springfield Three went cold, but it has never been forgotten.
The Main problems with this case...
While a number of possible suspect names have been tossed around over the years, none stand out as truly likely, with almost all lacking the means or motive to pull off what seems like the perfect crime. Some speculate it was one of the girls' high school friends (possibly Janelle) or romantic interests, but a crime of this nature feels far outside the scope of a recent high school grad. Some suspect Bart Streeter, Sherill's son & Susie's brother, who struggled with drug and alcohol issues. Others suspect prominent serial killers at the time (Robert Craig Cox is often mentioned), though the crime doesn't match his MO. It's tough to say, and I personally don't have any leading theories.

- Red herrings: Just about every piece of evidence mentioned above (the broken porch light shade, the purses, the agitated dog, the crude phone calls, the strange voicemail, etc.) could be vital evidence or a red herring, but we have no way of knowing which is which. Any of these items could have come to be prior to the incident that led to the vanishing of the Springfield Three, but could be directly related to the case, making it hard to know what to focus on.
- Contamination of evidence: The contamination of evidence is also highly problematic. It’s hard to tell what, if anything, could have been gleaned from the broken glass on the porch or the deleted voicemail because those things were already gone or severely contaminated before they could even be examined. Police estimated that 10-20 people had passed through the house before police began their investigation, mostly from friends and family members passing through looking for the women.
- Police incompetence: The police have been criticized for their handling of the case, though it’s not entirely clear how far this mishandling goes. However, the estimate of 10-20 people filing through the house feels like a case of exaggeration to explain why they were able to glean almost nothing from the crime scene (regardless of whether there was actually anything to be gleaned or not). The police have also stated that the voicemail that Janis heard and accidentally deleted may well have contained vital information for the case. Without knowing the context of that voicemail, we cannot say whether this is true or not; however, it seems odd that a perpetrator (or perpetrators) would pull off an almost perfect crime but leave something damning behind on voicemail. However, the fact of the matter is that we simply don’t know, and due to the criticisms levied at local law enforcement for their handling of this case, it’s tough not to view any announcements they make without at least a hint of skepticism.

Hey folks - just wondering if anyone knows of a local showroom/retailer that stocks Steelcase chairs and has them available to try?
Heritage Office is the only place I can find in Vancouver that advertises being a Steelcase dealer, but they are by appointment-only and only open weekdays until 4:30pm. However I have to order direct from Steelcase in order to use a work discount, so I'd rather not waste their time on an appointment.

I’m currently in the market and looking for a Land Rover Defender. I’ve had other luxury SUVs and still have one currently but I’m looking for a new daily driver and at my local Land Rover dealership they had a few options of new Defender 110s on the lot for around 75k-102k. Having only owned Mercedes and Porsche vehicles. I’m new to Land Rover. When I went to the dealership, they let me test drive and showed me a 2023 Land Rover defender S 110 with 13k miles on it with a retail price of $77,945 but currently has it listed as a past service vehicle for $65,999. I was told that it is a CPO that has a four year warranty 50,000 miles that then turns into a five year unlimited mile warranty from when it was first sold. This also offers an extension of bumper-to-bumper manufacture warranty. Is this a good deal and or should I negotiate off the price a little more? I’m not in a rush to buy a new SUV as I have until the end of the year. Should I jump on this or hold tight?

Hey all,
Firstly, apologies if this is not the best subreddit to pose a question like this. I’m just honestly shooting into the dark at this point and figured you may have some insight into my troubles in a general sense.
I've been in the Technical Support/Technical Account Management line of work for about 12 years now, specifically working for Enterprise level Software Development firms, and in leadership for 4 of those years.
As many here likely know, layoffs are running the entire industry ragged. I'm presently attempting to keep a ship afloat for a 24x5 Support shop for a dozen corporate accounts with myself, 1 direct report in the US, and 2 direct reports in India that are contracted to only work IST business hours. Our company has enacted a hiring freeze for the remainder of 2024, so we are in pretty dire straits when it comes to personnel.
On top of that, more layoffs are striking each week. I've been told unofficially by a Director that I consider a personal confidant that people are taking quite a close look at my position to see if my team can simply be folded in to another, which would then cut my role. I don't have the highest reputation in this organization sadly, I joined it approximately 10 months ago and I have found myself having a far more challenging time developing into my role than I expected. A lot of this failure is on me. I could make excuses, such as being a new father, struggling with my mental health, etc etc, but at the end of the day, I am floundering, and I am floundering bad.
If I DO get let go, I truly don't know that I want to remain in this line of work. I find that it's rotted my mental health and all semblance of work-life balance that I had. This bothered me less when I was young and single, but as a new husband and father, I find myself growing deeply depressed with each on-site work trip pulling me across the globe, or each 60+ hour “regular” week I’m putting in.
However, I feel stuck, as all of my experience and resume are completely tailor made for this field, and my entire resume is built off of experience as I do not have a Degree. I'm truly at a loss of where to go from here.
In your opinion, could the leadership experience I have provide me with the qualities needed to pursue leadership in other capacities, even if they are not within my industry? I don't want to be insulting enough to pretend like I would be effectively able to lead other teams that perform specialized work, but I had a bit of a "Hail Mary" moment where I realized that the last time I felt truly "happy" with the work I was doing was when I was a Retail Supervisor. I loved working with people on a local level(the past 6 years my job has been completely international, working with teams in multiple different countries), managing a shop, and feeling like I had an actual tangible impact on the day-to-day success of the store and even my neighborhood.
I know this is a very naive "the grass is always greener" moment, but I was wondering if my experience may allow me to start poking my head into more Senior Management roles back in this local space, or I would simply be rejected immediately since my leadership experience is incredibly specific to my current field.
My example above was retail, but my question is in the general sense really, I just want to get out of this line of work but cannot afford the time or money to return to school to finish out a degree.

Hi everyone! I'm coming to you all asking for help, especially from you graphic designers who've been able to get internships and careers in the field. I'm aware the field is pretty oversaturated, from what I've been told, and I went into the major fully aware of all the challenges and barriers that come with it, I don't expect a 6 figure job any time in my 20s- all I've been wanting is an internship. I've been applying and networking as best I can with people my parents know in my hometown- Cincinnati OH.
I've applied-- everywhere, all cities I have access to by car, since January or February, nonstop. To jobs, internships, part time gigs, even completely random jobs. I almost got recruited to a pyramid scheme in the process, but found out pretty quickly once I did investigation and their website was basically all typed up in ChatGPT. I felt very disappointed in myself after finding that out, especially since it was my one offer from my search for my final summer as an undergrad- I will be a 5th year next year, for context, and have a decent amount of student loans.
I was referred to a job with a local business in need of a graphic design intern for this summer- walkable for me as I go to school outside my hometown, and the perfect time period I was looking for, something in the field that is more useful for advancing my career and resume other than just the campus job I hold currently. In our Graphic Design course, we worked closely with the company as they are creating a branch company and needed logo and van mockup designs- I will attach mine here. I applied for the job about a month and a half ago, and never even got a response back, which is especially disappointing because the CEO had come to our classroom to select the students' work (none of mine was chosen either). I am overall highly discouraged with the process, and don't know where I am going wrong.
I get if I should have started the hunt earlier, or been in a sorority, or networked at job fairs more, but I'm dealing with the time I have now and the fact that I did not land an internship for my final summer as an undergrad. I know the job market at large is just abhorrent, and I am seeing that. Very apparently. I just want to ask you all for help on what I can do to advance my portfolio and land a job--any job in the field, before I graduate in a year. I plan on using every minute of my spare time next year when I am not working, taking classes, or exercising applying to jobs, and I am trying to believe in myself but really feel like I need help.
I will also mention the graphic design college at my school is very poorly funded-- we have to pay for the entire Adobe suite ourselves- even the Comms majors get it paid for by the school. But I have a great professor with a great history and career in the field, and I have connections back home, though it's been hard to call and schedule in-person meetings due to the distance and my currrent job and responsibilities an lack of personal car.
Another final note is I 'interviewed' with a Graphic Designer at the company my dad works at, and she told me about how great it was, and showed me her branding and portfolio site for reference as I was still building mine up- this was about 6 months ago at this point- and not even a month later, I see a LinkedIn post showing she was laid off due to budget cuts/they decided they didn't need her I guess, though she was the sole graphic designer for the firm.

I am native to west (very rural) Fort Worth, but have relocated to Victory Park in the last couple months. I’ve really enjoyed being able to walk everywhere I need to go and having so many things to do at my fingertips. I spend a lot of time walking around from my place in VP to west end, downtown, hardwood, uptown, arts district and to deep ellum. One notable thing I think is missing is a grab and go market or bodega in Victory Park (and even more of a lack of any grocery option at all in West End!) Here in VP I walk to Tom Thumb for most of my needs and on a more rare (but not atypical) occasion, I’ll walk down to Whole Foods on McKinney for some groceries or just to eat. I’m not taking these places for granted at all, but I can’t help but think it would be really nice to have a smaller market or bodega right on Victory Park Ln, Victory Ave or maybe in one of the vacant retail/food spaces around AA Center. We’ve got a couple of vacancies around VP but it seems to be a lively area most of the time and those smaller bodegas and markets are always busy with lots of circulation up in Oaklawn. I know of Berkeley’s Market in downtown, as well as the location on Katy Tr up in Knox-Henderson. The latter of the two definitely seems to be a lot more popular but that (I think) probably has to do with the locals in the area. Knox-Henderson has a lot of younger professionals and yuppie-types who enjoy that sort of thing. Sadly I’m not sure if the downtown area has enough of a lively (and young) residential community to keep the Berkeley’s bustling and busy. Downtown was my first choice when I was moving (The Kirby Building, specifically) but I could feel right away that the energy seemed more energetic (and safe!) in VP. Anyone else notice a lack of markets and grocery in downtown, deep ellum and west end? Or hear of any plans/discussion regarding bringing in some more stuff like that to the downtown area?

Firstly, apologies if this is not the best subreddit to pose a question like this. I’m just honestly shooting into the dark at this point and figured you may have some insight into my troubles in a general sense.
I've been in the Technical Support/Technical Account Management line of work for about 12 years now, specifically working for Enterprise level Software Development firms, and in leadership for 4 of those years.
As many here likely know, layoffs are running the entire industry ragged. I'm presently attempting to keep a ship afloat for a 24x5 Support shop for a dozen corporate accounts with myself, 1 direct report in the US, and 2 direct reports in India that are contracted to only work IST business hours. Our company has enacted a hiring freeze for the remainder of 2024, so we are in pretty dire straits when it comes to personnel.
On top of that, more layoffs are striking each week. I've been told unofficially by a Director that I consider a personal confidant that people are taking quite a close look at my position to see if my team can simply be folded in to another, which would then cut my role. I don't have the highest reputation in this organization sadly, I joined it approximately 10 months ago and I have found myself having a far more challenging time developing into my role than I expected. A lot of this failure is on me. I could make excuses, such as being a new father, struggling with my mental health, etc etc, but at the end of the day, I am floundering, and I am floundering bad.
If I DO get let go, I truly don't know that I want to remain in this line of work. I find that it's rotted my mental health and all semblance of work-life balance that I had. This bothered me less when I was young and single, but as a new husband and father, I find myself growing deeply depressed with each on-site work trip pulling me across the globe, or each 60+ hour “regular” week I’m putting in.
However, I feel stuck, as all of my experience and resume are completely tailor made for this field, and my entire resume is built off of experience as I do not have a Degree. I'm truly at a loss of where to go from here.
In your opinion, could the leadership experience I have provide me with the qualities needed to pursue leadership in other capacities, even if they are not within my industry? I don't want to be insulting enough to pretend like I would be effectively able to lead other teams that perform specialized work, but I had a bit of a "Hail Mary" moment where I realized that the last time I felt truly "happy" with the work I was doing was when I was a Retail Supervisor. I loved working with people on a local level(the past 6 years my job has been completely international, working with teams in multiple different countries), managing a shop, and feeling like I had an actual tangible impact on the day-to-day success of the store and even my neighborhood.
I know this is a very naive "the grass is always greener" moment, but I was wondering if my experience may allow me to start poking my head into more Senior Management roles back in this local space, or I would simply be rejected immediately since my leadership experience is incredibly specific to my current field.
My example above was retail, but my question is in the general sense really, I just want to get out of this line of work but cannot afford the time or money to return to school to finish out a degree.
The long and short of it is:
Can I use my leadership experience to pivot industries without dooming my family to a much lower quality of life(we’re by no means wealthy, but I do own a home and a car…which I consider a win in the current age,) or in your opinion, am I stuck here unless I'm willing to start over from the bottom of the ladder?

I have been struggling to build the Windows 11 image on VMware, some help would be greatly appreciated.
I was able to configure HCL/Packer when it comes to VMware configuration (mostly I hope).
At the moment, Windows 11 gets provisioned until the moment that system boots with the Windows OS screen, and then it hangs, I believe that WinRM is not properly started via the XML answer file. I can confirm that answer file works because Windows settings for the setup are processed and Windows installation finishes.
Also, I could not use the floppy drive, since its not supported with UEFI and TPM, so I am mapping the VMware tools from the datastore, and will include in the answer file the part to install the tools - my doubt is, is the WinRM even started if the Packer can't connect with the IP?
I am having trouble to understand how to troubleshoot the answer file, its really cumbersome.
My packer console says waiting for the IP.
Any suggestions are very welcome, thanksss!

How the previous owner got this thing, I have no idea. It seems to be a French company, but we're in the US. I've called every local spa retailer, and none of them sold it.<br /> We haven't been able to get it to warm up enough to sit in. Over the winter, it was able to somehow keep itself warm enough to prevent freezing, but that's about it. If I turn on the strong jets, I've noticed it will raise about 2 degrees Fahrenheit, but fail to maintain it when the jets automatically turn off after 10 minutes.<br /> The pumps/jets are circulating water fine, and everything seems to work as expected except the heat. I've rinsed the filter to make sure it's clean. There are no error codes displayed.<br /> We've had a few technicians come by, and they confirmed that the internal parts seemed to be working fine. He has a degree, has worked in different jobs over the years through various schemes (Employability/ National Learning Network etc) in retail/administration etc. He has a car and is very independent in all senses but his disability means he can take a bit longer than an able bodied person to complete some tasks until he gets going. He started a job in a Hardware/Garden centre North of Galway 2 weeks back and was let go at the weekend due to being too slow completing tasks. To be fair to them, as annoyed as I am, he didn't want to tell them about his disability which I had to respect so putting it down as a learning experience. <br /> I think the best option for him for a long term role in a factory here in Galway hence why I am here, hoping someone here works in one of these places or has a contact with someone who does. He has previously completed the standard dexterity tests but he cannot complete them in the allotted time and as this stage of the process is typically handled by an external recruitment company they are obviously driven by their mandate of getting candidates in the job as quick as possible. Unfortunately for a disabled person, this doesn't leave much room for accommodation in either the recruitment process or the training stage of a new job. <br /> The employer would be eligible to receive the Wage Subsidy Scheme for employing someone with a disability of €6.30 per hour up to 39 hours a week to account for a lower degree of productivity. So it's a win-win but it just takes the right kind of employer willing to take a chance on someone and not just to use the subsidy for cheap labour then dismiss them when the job is done as has happened to this person previously.<br /> Folks of Reddit Galway, if anyone think there might be an opening at your workplace (ideally a factory but open to other areas), and you can put me in touch with HR to propose this to them, I would be massively grateful for any direction or tips.
