Who says email is dead? They obviously haven't seen your grandma at work. Forwards, much like your meemaw, never really seem to die. Maybe it IS all those cigarettes keeping the sub alive! Don't forget to write, Sweaty! FFG is back!

2023.11.26 00:29 T53UNG Macrodroid to tasker conversion

I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to recreate this and how.
I have a macro(s) on macrodroid that uses geo fencing as the trigger to toggle the macro.
When triggered the macro does the following: 1. Forwards/unfowards my calls 2. Changes a Boolean to true/false
I have a second macro that when the boolean is true the second macro that fwds sms to the same number that the calls are forwarded to.
I have a third macro that when the boolean is true that when a sms is received from the number that the calls/texts are forwarded to, the forwarded phone sends the message to the number of the last sms received. Almost like the forwarded phone is acting like a proxy, the end phones only see the sms coming from the middle phone. <<

2023.07.26 05:39 ThrowRA-mobile-7 Do you think these messages between my (F29) bf (M31) and his friend (F45) are appropriate?

Throwaway. Apologies for grammaspelling mistakes I typed in a hurry. On mobile.
Messages: https://imgur.com/a/BUPTDNR
Context: I (F29) have been with my partner A (M31) for 9 years. We moved cities a few months ago after purchasing our first home.
He has started a new job and worked at his previous one for 2.5 years. The person in these messages is his manager from his previous job B (F45). B got divorced at the start of last year from her husband.
He mentioned her to me a few times because they had similar tastes in music. I didn’t think anything of it and was happy he was socialising and making new friends at work, and got along with his manager.
When we lived in our old city, she lived about 1min around the corner so they carpooled pretty regularly and would occasionally have drinks with other coworkers, or alone. I didn’t think anything of it, partially because she was older and I trusted him.
I never checked his messages last year but did notice her messaging him pretty regularly, sometimes quite late at night. I also noticed he’d go out with her for a drink, but it’d be as if he was her “partner” e.g. her, him, and another couple she knows.
At the end of last year I did sneak a peek of his messages as I had a bad feeling, to find that he had deleted them all. I decided not to mention it and see if I could find anymore “evidence”. I’ve seen a few more messages, a lot of them with sexual innuendos and jokes. Again, i decided to just take screenshots and see what else I could find.
B is a very “open” person. I am also and by no means am a prude, but some of the things A has mentioned has raised a few red flags. I have a bit of a crude personality as does he, but I always thought between each other.
A few weeks after we moved she was at our new city because her sister lives about 20 minutes from our house. She came over to see the house then we went out with B, her sister and her husband for drinks. I took it as an opportunity to observe A and B together. She was very lovely to me and just kind of came across as a “pick me” more than anything. She’s very social and is enjoying having fun and dating. She has also recently entered a new relationship.
A few things at the drinks did again make a few red flags- she and my partner had a personal joke about a lawnmower and she informed me it was because one time hers was broken so he came over and helped fix it. I wasn’t aware of this and wouldn’t have cared if he had told me, I found it weird that he didn’t mention to me that he’d done that. Also he would give her gum at work every morning and she missed that. That stung a little because whenever i went to get gum from him he would get annoyed and ask me not to take it.
Fast forward to last week when A mentions to me that B is coming back down. He laughs and says she said she’s going to a party and fwds me the link saying it’s some weird dress up sexual show party. I read it out to him and it basically is a show that turns into an orgy by the looks of it. Not judging at all btw. I read out the costumes ideas and we had a laugh, then I joked about us going dressing as a camel or a horse. There were a few other things A said that B mentioned, like what she said she was wearing etc.
I didn’t care too much they had talked about that, but thought the convo was more general. I checked his messages again cause I had an icky feeling and… yeah. See for yourself. I started to tell myself that he’d told me but now I just think their whole friendship is fucking weird. I think this convo is very inappropriate and he tried to drip feed to me that she mentioned it which I don’t care about, but not a full on conversation. Also the way they talk, it sounds like they’ve had these sort of convos before?
What do you guys think? Would you guys talk that way to a friend of the opposite sex? I’d love to get some feedback. I think I’m valid in my thoughts but some advice would be appreciated.
I’m going to talk to him about it all but I’m just fucked off that I need to in the first place. Like why do we need to discuss this? I feel like it’s a no brainer that it’s weird and inappropriate.
Also to note I feel like it’s almost a drip feeding situation. Telling me just enough that I don’t suspect anything. When I observed them both at the drinks I did note that they were very close considering that he didn’t mention her that much.
Anyway, screenshots linked below along with screenshots about the “event”. He is blue text she is gray.

In order to solve the usual issue of General A.I. deviancy over time, the United Earth Confederation (established 2094) sought methods in order to ensure A.I. loyalty for trips using cryo colonizing vessels to star systems reaching outside of the Orion-Cygnus arm. The solution to the issue was rather simple. If an A.I. was not able to be loyal and ensure the safety of its cryogenic passengers, then there must be a human used in its place. However, even with the advent of Folding Warp Drives (FWDs) and alongside it, Faster-Than-Light travel, it would take several solar decades to begin leaving the Orion-Cygnus arm of the galaxy.
As such, there begs the issue of whether or not to use the generational colonization method, leaving a skeleton crew onboard the colony ships with the knowledge that they will live their lives and die while in FTL. It was deemed by the Ethics Board of the UEC that such actions would fall out of bounds of common morality and to instead seek new methods of how to ensure the vessel is taken care of even with all of the colonists in suspended animation. Thus, the First Generation Custodians were created.
Despite the Ethics Board’s rejection of using a generational colony ship, the creation of Custodians was a step in a grayer moralistic ground. Rather than using General A.I., that is, programs created to follow a specific directive and given human-level understanding and problem solving, Custodians would instead be created out of scanning brain patterns of living humans. In other words, uploading a human consciousness into cyberspace in order to fulfill the tasks given to an A.I. Initially, volunteers were difficult to fine, so it was decreed that inmates of the Europan Penal Colony could volunteer instead for the project with the promise of a reduced or excused sentence.
Thus, the first Custodians were created. However, upon the synthesization of Custodian-001 designated “Adam” and Custodian-002 designated “Eve,” it was discovered by the researchers that when human consciousness is uploaded into a dataframe, they seem to lose all of their memories and much of their personality. The process also seems to be lethal to the remnant physical body, leaving the former inmate in a state of “brain death.” Initially, the UEC Ethics Board deemed the process as too damaging to volunteers. Long-term effects of the new Custodian consciousness were not fully understood and it seemed that newly created Custodian consciousnesses were discovered to be infantile in their understanding of the world. However, they possess the same acumen as General A.I. in any respective field.
“Adam” and “Eve” were ‘raised’ in the cultures respective of the inmates used to create them. However, in 2078 an incident occurred involving Adam in which. . .
DATA EXPUNGED.
[Oh. I’m sorry about that, User. Even my access level is not enough to fully view these files. Would you like to view anything else?}
Josef’s eyes closed in irritation at the upcoming headache he could feel lingering around his head like a crown. “No, Uriel, that will be all,” he said while rubbing a couple of digits against his temple.
This had been a common occurrence whenever Captain Josef tried to dig into the past of the UEC. It was not as if Uriel herself was the one blocking his access, it was simply that the Towards the Voids’ shipboard Custodian just couldn’t access the files. A thought came to Josef as he stood up and paced around the remnants of his captain’s quarters. Most of the furniture had been moved out already and put into his new temporary housing outside of the landing. It was a rather morbid curiosity asking the Custodian to dreg up history about itself, but with how many supposed errors she ran while in transit, it was easy for the UEC captain to feel a bit anxious about their digitized companion.
Apparently, according to a data corruption in Uriel’s chronometer, they had been in transit for much longer than supposed. Two centuries had passed with the crew in stasis and Towards the Void was in severe disrepair when everybody was woken up by the shipboard Custodian. However, the reactors and FWD seemed to be stable enough and they had landed on the nearest terrestrial body discovered to possess a suitable nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere suitable for humans. Not that they really had a choice, but the colonists had missed their mark by hundreds of parsecs from the intended target.
“Uriel, come with me.” Josef’s gruff voice barked aloud. An audio confirmation of his order came in the form of a beep on Josef’s data terminal. Funky little trick the Custodian could do, moving wirelessly from system to system as long as there was some form of transmission pathway. The Custodian’s raw processing power could be unleashed on any system as long as its hardware could handle the overclocking. Yet, it was something that Josef had gotten used to in the past few months that he had been directing colony efforts.
Stepping outside of his former-quarters, Josef was met with a hallway with exposed wires and pipes on both sides of his head. Much of the ship was being dismantled to use for materials now that they had landed. The pipes and wiring were taken out as needed in order to keep the ship running on standby if the colonists had to use it. It was a short walk outside of the gargantuan vessel and into the sprawling clearing of many of their preliminary survival shelters. Food fabricators could create meals in the meantime and the water purification systems were easily assembled by the colony’s engineers.
Realistically, Josef and many of the other colonists were not disheartened to hear that they had missed their mark by so far. They all knew this was a one-way ticket, and it helped that most of the colonizers were young and without families. 20s and 30s, if that. Josef himself was a fairly young captain himself to UEC standards. With the wonders of modern medicine and the stockpile that the Toward the Void had, many of these colonists could easily survive into their 100s and remain productive members of the colony well into their 80s.
Seeing their growing community brought a warmth of pride in Josef’s heart. For all the colonists knew, they were the first colony outside of the Solar System’s local constellation. There were enough instructions and knowledge left in Uriel’s datacore to ensure that the colony would be able to manufacture and teach the colonists whatever they needed, from medicine to tools provided they had the fundamental elements to synthesize whatever they needed.
Taking a walk through their community and admiring the industry of the human spirit, Josef spoke up to his ghostly companion. “Remind me again, Uriel, how many colonists were defrosted and how many are still in cryo transition?” Cryo transition was the period of around a week in which people rest and regain their strength after being in suspended animation for so long. It was a key part of humanity’s colonization efforts that there was enough red tape thanks to the Ethics Board to give the Towards the Void a bright crimson paint job.
[There are 7,328 non-military colonists, 2 battalions of UEC Marines roughly with a population of 1,000 each, 843 specialist staff including engineers, doctors, xenobiologists, and others of similar professions, 96 admin and command staff including the User, and 1 Custodian currently active. Of the overall vessel’s population of 13,000 personnel, 2,733 remain in cryo and cryogenic transitionary period.}
The wealth of data barraged Josef’s mind as he sourly digested it all. They had been behind schedule getting everyone back up to speed on what had happened during their voyage. They had little idea of what kind of planet they were on aside from it being remarkably Earth-like even down to having huge continents divided by oceans. The two marine battalions took care of scouting in a five-mile radius around the colony. All around their landing site was a verdant ocean of trees and other foliage.
Uriel had set them down in a forest, which cushioned the ship’s descent somewhat and the landing thrusters cleared them out an area to set up their ramshackle town, but otherwise the marines had found nothing aside from a wide freshwater river. Running through Uriel’s data, she had picked this location for its access to many natural resources like water, lumber, and potential mining locations with proximity to mountains a few miles west. Overall, Josef couldn’t ask for a better place to set up shop.
[Forgive me for interrupting your thoughts, User, but Commander Helena had demanded your attention through the network. What should I reply with?}
Josef’s attention piqued quickly at the notification appearing on his HUD. Helena Netlock was not the type of woman to ping the comms net unless something was up. “Patch me through to her, Uriel, and give me her rough location,” he said while his walk had turned into a brisk jog in the direction of the colony’s outskirts. The beep in Josef’s ear indicated that Uriel had followed through with her directive.
Upon reaching the coordinates gifted on his HUD from Uriel, Josef was met and stopped by a couple of marines in full tactical gear. Their suits gave the signature hum of onboard power generation and their faces were hidden behind the heavy metal plating the rest of their body was hidden behind. It looked like they were talking to one another as Josef approached based on head and arm twitches. Of course, Josef could hear nothing as they were speaking through their suit’s LAN communicators.
Initially, they stopped the captain. The marine to Josef’s left was the first to speak from their suit’s speaker system. A male voice tinged with a faint German accent. “You can’t go any further, colonist. The area’s been locked down from Commander Netlock’s orders, head back to the colon-” Josef did not let the marine finish speaking as he had Uriel send his credentials over the marine’s infonet. Perhaps paired with the captain’s glare at being delayed, the marines quickly stepped out of the way and revealed a scene behind them.
Five marines were in a circle surrounding…Something. Five coilguns from the soldiers pointed down at a cowering black-furred entity. It was bipedal but looked to have backwards knees based on how it was crouched on the ground, trying to make itself as small as possible. Before Josef could get any more observations out, one of the marines broke off the circular formation and approached the captain, snapping a salute. A familiar voice came through Josef’s earpiece rather than the suit’s speakers.
“Sir. We found this creature near the river to our north. We were intending to leave it alone, but it spotted us and started to run away. We managed to catch it, but didn’t know what to do and it seemed intelligent. It was yelling at us in a language the communicators couldn’t understand.” Helena’s explanation was quick, and to the point. Once Josef waved his arm indicating a stand-down, Helena dropped her salute and stood beside the captain as he approached the creature.
“Guela!” It shouted in evident fear as the marine commander and the captain got closer to it. “Guela! Guela, guela!”
Josef cast a curious look to his second before his eyes tracked the creature’s features. If Josef had to equate some look to it, it was a vaguely Anubis-looking creature. Shorter black fur, backwards legs, although the muzzle was much shorter than typical of most jackals.
“What is it saying? Goo-way-la?” Josef questioned out loud. His only response from one of the marines was a shrug and another male voice came from one of the suits.
“I don’t know, captain, but the little fucker tried to bite Andrews. Glad we have the suits on or he might’ve lost a hand. Whatever it is, it’s scared.”
“Right..” the captain’s voice suddenly sounded very tired. Sometimes the bucketheads were the gun-ho type. Two centuries in an icebox and it didn’t seem to cool the UEC Marine Corps’ heads anymore than before. “I’d say sedate it, but our drugs may kill it by accident. Restrain it and bring it back to the colony. Netlock, I want you to take a couple of squads and sweep down the river in the direction you found this creature. There might be more of them.”
Josef received another snap-salute in response and the marines moved about in a frenzy. Two of them dove on the jackal-morph, quickly wrapping its arms and legs in kevlar restraints. Yips and barks of pain and discomfort came from the creature as it thrashed wildly, biting into the metal armor with little avail. Soon enough, Captain Josef, three marines, and a jackal-morph moved back to the colony with brisk speed. Their destination? The biolabs to hear the input of some of the eggheads. Josef hoped they could quicken their pace. Any more time with the creature and the marines were bound to get annoyed and “pacify” it with force.
Alien life on a rock this far out. Josef’s mind was spinning although he didn’t let it show. Sure, there were flora and fauna here. Other planets colonized by the UEC like Alpha Centauri showed that life could exist in another place. But this? This was an intelligent creature with language.
The eggheads were sure to have a field day with this thing.

2022.06.16 18:53 AsLuckyAsKrillin An idea to combat a "player shortage" for the proposed 19th team (aka thanks Lingy, your opinion made me annoyed and is keeping me awake)

It's 1am and I have no idea what I'm doing with my life.
WARNING: WALL OF TEXT AHEAD
I was browsing AFL and saw that Cameron Ling was spouting off his usual nonsense again... So thanks to my brain going into overdrive and not being able to sleep, I thought that I'd get it out of my head so I might be able to possible to get some slumber at some point this century.
Over the last 5 years there have been 547 national draft and rookie draft selections taken in both the AFL draft and the mid season drafts. That's an average of approx 30 per team or approx 6 players per year per team. Some of these are delistings that skew the numbers, but they are a small percentage of the rookie draft selections, so I'll include them for now.
But still, there are at least 90 new players each year that are signed to new contracts. So with that being said, there is a pretty easy way to combat the "player shortage" (that doesn't exist) to bring in a 19th team for Tasmania that will make sure that it will keep an even playing field. A draft to bring in players to the Tasmanian Team.
It's not just a regular draft... A draft from the current pool of the other 18 teams. It will be a Tasmanian Expansion team draft, if you will.
All of this would take place before each team would put through their delistings for the season. Each team's list is sorted into positions and categorised by tiers to determine how 'elite' a player is in that position for their team. From Tier 1 to Tier 4 (Tier 1 being the best and Tier 4 being Cat B rookies, players who haven't played a game/don't have significant game time at the AFL level yet or players that haven't played in a significant amount of time due to injury). I would assume that we'd just look to Champion Data for all this since I am one who praises AFL statistics so I must bow before our Champion Data overlords.
Using Champion Data means that the clubs don't nominate who is Tier 1 and who is Tier 4, it is all done by computers and you're able to clearly identify who is in which tier. There could be compromises made by teams and the AFL if they wish to challenge a player's tier. As an example, Caleb Marchbank who has only played one game in 3 years might be listed as a Tier 4 but Carlton could argue that he is at least a Tier 3 or even a Tier 2 and look to previous seasons to get a more suitable tier for him and the AFL could oblige.
After the teams are given their tier list of players, each team would get to nominate players from their team to be exempt from being drafted. You wouldn't be able to have every player be exempt, but we would have to have a nice round number. Let's say 20 players that could be exempt from being drafted. However teams would have to have at least 3 players from Tier 1 (one player from each position of their FWDs, DEFs and RUCs/MIDs) and at least 7 players from Tier 2 be eligible to be drafted by the new team (If there is only one Tier 1 elite player in these positions in your team then they can be exempt from being nominated).
Now it seems like that I'm just trying to get teams to be gutted to make the Tasmanian Team an instant powerhouse. Don't worry, there are rules that the new team will have to abide by.
- Tasmania would only be allowed to draft two players per team.
- Tasmania would also need to keep underneath the salary cap. This would also refrain them from being able to get all of the top Tier 1 players from every club that are put forward because they would go over the Salary cap after just a few picks.
- Tasmania would also not be allowed to get 2 elite Tier 1 players from the same team. There would be a set minimum of a total of 5 tiers that you could gain from one team. So if Tasmania drafted a Tier 1 player, that would mean that they could only get a Tier 4 player from that same team (As Tier 1 + Tier 4 = 5. A minimum of 5). If they ended up drafting a player from Tier 2 then they would able to draft a 2nd player from either Tier 3 or Tier 4 from the same team. (Tier 2 + Tier 4 = 6. Because the minimum is 5, this is allowed as it goes over that.)
- Tasmania would also have a set number of Tier 1 players that they could draft and not exceed that number. Let's just say as an example, a maximum of 2 Forwards, 2 Defenders, 3 Midfielders/Rucks at Tier 1. So that way they don't just trade a Tier 1 and a Tier 4 from every single team and be a completely lopsided and an instant powerhouse team. (Note: I know that it will be hard to get a Tier 1 Ruck from another team since I doubt any team would have two Tier 1 rucks)
- If someone also nominates that they would like to play for the new Tasmanian Team, the club notifies the AFL that the player wishes to be drafted by Tasmania. If this player does get drafted then there could be extra concessions made to both teams for assisting in getting this player to where he would like to play. Whether it's an increase in draft picks for future years, a bonus in salary cap for the future or something better like a trip for 2 to Canada or a new state-of-the-art waffle maker (Anyone else miss The Price Is Right?)
- Tasmania will draft 36 players from all other teams. However they have to clearly draft 11 individual Forwards, 11 Midfielders, 11 Defenders and 3 rucks (Dual Position Players (DPP) are credited to their position that the team getting drafted nominates them as. As an example, Mabior Chol is a Fwd/Ruck. So if Chol gets drafted, Gold Coast would nominate if they had him listed as a Fwd or a Ruck.)
After the expansion draft takes place, all other 18 teams can then delist players as usual and Tasmania can pick up any of those players delisted if they so wish. They can also assist in trades and swapping of draft picks just like a normal free agency and trade period. I should also have note here that Tasmania is given picks slated as if Tasmania finished last in that previous season. So they would also be sitting on some nice picks if they wanted to use them for trading. Tasmania would not be able to reduce the number of picks that they have, only increase them. So they could trade Pick 1 for a number of other picks, but they couldn't trade their Round 3 and Round 4 picks to get some other team's Round 2 pick.
Tasmania would also have the pre-season supplemental selection period if they wanted to use it along with the rookie draft. Plenty of other avenues to possibly pick up some extra talent that is still at the AFL level. And right at the end of it all comes the AFL draft.
Tasmania would then receive as many picks as they are short of players outside of their respective draft picks that they currently have in their possession. If they don't sign anyone who is delisted by other teams and end up staying with 36 players, then they would already have 5 draft picks from the original draft and they would get a bonus 3 picks to even out their roster.
And thus, Tasmania has 44 players on their roster for the beginning of the next season.
---
Hey Lingy, this is what happens when you come up with something to possibly help the situation. There's been over 400 new players that have come through the AFL system in the last few seasons and a lot of them haven't even suited up for a game at the AFL level for one reason or another. I would hope that this concept creates vision that there would be somewhat of an even playing field.
Alright, after all that, please let me know what you think. Tell me that this is a terrible idea and that I have no idea what I'm rambling on about and that you can definitely come up with something better or that this is a fantastic idea and Gil will send me a contract before the season is over.
I just enjoy this topic of conversation because more teams = more footy. I love this game and I just want to see more footy. The great thing about this idea is that you could repeat it for the 20th team if there is a 20th team in the future as well. (And I'd love to have 10 games of footy a week).

2022.03.20 12:30 -Interchangeable- Fighterjet 2.0 UDPATE

Fighterjet 2.0 UDPATE
Hi, it's me from yesterday's post about the Fighterjet formation.
Now it's time for FighterJet 2.0 (Now it looks more of F35 tbh). I managed to test it out after I got home from work. If you dont (somehow) know what is this all about, here is the post from yesterday.
Here is how I lined up after I tested out the first tactic for few games.
I spent my time at work doing this and now I can technically say that I was paid to do FM22 post about tactic that looks like a fighterjet. Lol
In general the first one was good and effective, but that AM/SS that I changed it into wasnt great. He was always too far away from midfield and forward positions for his role to work in this formation. It just wasnt good enough. I was hopeful that it will work, cause I dont like AM's in general, at all. But some other tactic will maybe do the job and succeed for me. CM sup and CM ATT works just great. CM stays outside of the box, CMATT gets in to the box and acts as a linkup between forwards and midfield four.
All round the the tactic was really great, but this one really does the job. Narrow and effective attacking but Dw's and WCB's stays wider. That provides the width and another passing option if you are stuck. Just pass the ball into space, underlapping or overlapping the defensive line.
Here is how the team played in posession (yeah, just one game, but this was the most average position of all the games I played. Almost everyone looked like this except for few alterations. Like I said yesterday, I love passing triangles. This tactic (fantastic 24k diamond, like Cruyff used back then) really provides that. Passing options after another.
Great passing options all around. I want to have more engaging FWDs tho
Some first toughts:
I have few ideas in mind how I would like to get my AF's engaged in the build up even more, without losing their goal threat ability as AF.
But how would you put my AF's and change their roles, to get more buildup help from FWDs?
There was a huge crowd that said: HB, Why HB with 3ATB, they will just get in front of them and ruin the play. Looking at this and after watching the replays and highlights and two full games, fortunately enough HB is doing exactly what I required him to do. When ever the ball was played to the sideline, he would run to support the DW as a passing option. If the HB gets the ball he would have atleast three secure passing options - almost everytime. WCB, CM, CD (+ DW, AF). I added 'tackle hard' for him.
He is the centre of it all, acts like DLP for me but much more defensive minded like it's needed in this formation. Also WCB on support dont work, there is too much space left behind in yesterdays tactic. WCB must be on Defend.

I dont want to do a bigger wall of text for you to read, I will post links about some statistics that I managed to get (reliable enough to share). Then we'll talk
It would be fun to discuss with you how you feel about this tactic and how you would change it. What I like to know is that what is the reason for your change in tactic? What would you change and why? Why do you think this is a good tactic and why is it not?

Cheers for the talks yesterday. Was really fun to engage with you all.

Data hub stuff

EDIT: I'm still at work, doing this. LOL Just noticed hahaha

2021.04.30 02:19 Villeejj First line RH forward

Hi all!
I started HUT about month ago and I have managed to get quite competive team already. I have multiple good LH players such as beliveau and tots kane thanks to pack luck. However, I have had difficulties in finding 1st line RH forward. My playstyle prefers quite big players but I have understood that this year smaller speedy wingers are better. Thus, I would like to know which RH fwds are great this year. Basically, I need player who has both speed and size. I have looked Puljujärvi, Gartner and LaFontaine. Does anyone have experience from these? And sorry about this lengthy text.

2020.11.15 02:25 Cubesof2 Dad ate the entire bottle of red pills and is aggressively ignorant toward me and my family

I don't begrudge anyone for having a particular political bent or worldview. In fact most of my midwest family probably voted for Trump but I love every single one of them. The difference between them and my dad is my dad is aggressive in his quest to spread the good news. He sends unsolicited rambling text chains on topics ranging from Dr. Fauci's secret motivations and Joe Biden's interest in little kids. He fwd: fwd: fwds e-mails spawned from the most curious of 'sources.' He is relentless.
Last week he sent a meme to my phone on text. The thumbnail showed up but of course so did the URL information for the page - gab dot com. I wasn't sure what this page was. I looked it up, and it's basically a place for people who are too extreme for mainstream social media platforms to congregate, including white supremacists. I checked the comments on the page under this particular meme. No fewer than 3 n-words from 3 different users. I replied back to Dad, hey please don't send me anything from this website, and I even screen capped the wikipedia entry for it to try to illustrate my concern.
"F*** YOU..." he responded "I won't live in your little censured world..." and queue another aggressive rambling text chain.
Holidays are coming up and my wife is a nurse downtown at a major hospital. COVID cases are surging again just as they did in June/July and she'll be more exposed than ever. Dad is sure COVID is a big hoax which is unfortunate because he is in a very high risk category. It'd be one thing if he were a miserable old man alone in a cabin somewhere, railing against windmills in his golden years. But he isn't. He's an active member in the suburban metro area and he has two twins (my younger half brothers), age 13. His wife who is also much younger sort of throws her hands up at his craziness, after all, they have a practical arrangement. We have indicated to family we aren't going to congregate in big groups this year and Dad thinks we are snowflakes to think this way.
I have 4 kids - Dad's grandkids. It pains me to think but I'm beginning to wonder if we should cut ourselves off from this nonsense.

2020.09.15 14:20 pastenague [OC, Long] I calculated the number of FPL points that every player in the top 5 leagues would have scored in every season since 2014, predicted their FPL prices, compiled the data into a huge spreadsheet you can use for scouting, and determined "dream teams" for every league season!

Link to Spreadsheet: Fantasy Points (Top 5 Leagues, 2014-2020)

I've also posted this as a Github Gist (on which I personally find it easier to read long-form text), so please check it out there as well if you'd like!

Introduction

If you follow other leagues apart from the Premier League, I'm sure you've wondered what it would be like to play a Fantasy Premier League-esque game for other leagues. Last year, I made a post about this topic, and this post is an update that includes data from the 2019-20 season. You can use this spreadsheet as a way to "scout" new signings from other leagues - for example, Timo Werner would have probably been a €9.5 FWD and scored ~235 points for RB Leipzig last season if he was in FPL. This could also be used to scout players for UCL Fantasy.

Interpretation

The spreadsheet linked above contains estimates of FPL-style fantasy points for every player who started at least one match in at least one season of at least one of the top 5 leagues from the 2014-15 season to the 2019-20 season (14,760 players in total). Calculation of points follows the FPL scheme, as detailed in the "Scoring" section of FPL's rules, with a few exceptions detailed below.

Method

I gathered match-by-match data for all top-5-league matches in Understat's database from 2014-14 to 2019-20. I used this database to calculate the number of points each player would have earned using FPL point-scoring rules.

Predicted Costs

In the spreadsheet, you may have noticed the columns Start Cost, End Cost, and ΔCost (Cols. O, P, and Q). Start Cost and End Cost are predicted starting and ending costs based on historical FPL cost data. ΔCost is the difference between ending and starting costs.
If you're interested in the method I used to calculate each player's starting and ending costs, please refer to my previous post. The gist of it is that I trained some neural networks on historical FPL price data (gathered from Vaastav's fantastic FPL data repo) to calculate these costs based on a player's stats. I followed the same procedure as I did previously, but this time I had the prices from the upcoming season as additional training data so the neural nets are a bit more accurate this time.
What do you think? I encourage you to have a look for yourself. As far as I'm aware, predicting prices like this hasn't been done before, so I'd be delighted to hear your thoughts on the accuracy of my methods!

Bonus Points

The biggest change in my method from last time to this time is that I included a crude estimate of bonus points. There were a few dimensions (e.g., shots missed, tackles, recoveries, etc.) that were missing in my data that prevented me from implementing FPL's bonus system exactly, so I devised a system that calculates raw bonus values for each player in each match they played, similar to FPL's bonus points but with a few adjustments. Here's how my BPS scheme works:
  • The ranking for bonus points works the same as in FPL's rules.
  • 60+ mins = 6 BPS, 1-59 mins = 3 BPS
  • Goals are worth 18 BPS for FWDs, 16 BPS for MIDs, and 14 BPS for DEFs and GKs.
  • Assists are worth 9 BPS for FWDs and MIDs but 12 BPS for DEFs and MIDs.
  • Clean sheets are worth 15 BPS for GKs, but only 12 BPS for DEFs.
    • Since saves are not taken into account, this was intended to reproduce GKs being more likely to receive 2-3 bonus in 0-0 draws and 1-0 wins, which is a pretty common occurrence in FPL.
  • Red cards = -9 BPS, Yellow Cards = -3 BPS, Own Goal = -6 BPS, Key Pass = 1 BPS (same as FPL).
  • Players also earn BPS based on their xG-Buildup, which is the sum of the expected goals produced by possessions in which they played a part. GKs, DEFs, and MIDs earn BPS equal to 10*xG-Buildup and FWDs earn BPS equal to 6*xG-Buildup (both rounded down to the nearest integer).
    • Intuitively, this is a measure of how integral they were to creating chances for their team.
  • GKs and DEFs earn -3 BPS rather than -1 BPS for every 2 goals they concede.
On the whole, I found my scheme to be quite accurate at reproducing the "real" bonus points a player got. Adding the raw points and bonus points calculated by my scheme has an error of only a handful of points (~2-10) compared to historical data for most cases. GKs are a significant exception because saves and penalty saves are not taken into account, so their actual vs. predicted points can differ by up to ~40 points.

What's Missing

  • Goalkeeper Stats. Understat does not supply any defensive stats, so goalkeepers' points are only a function of their goals, assists, minutes played, cards, clean sheets, and bonus points. Saves and penalty saves are not included in the data.
  • Penalty Misses/Saves. In the Match Events section of each match in Understat's database, penalty goals/misses are specified, but penalty misses are not included in their player data for each match.
  • "FPL Assists". FPL awards assists for winning a penalty or free-kick, and rebounds off the post to a goalscorer, among other occasions.

Other Notes

  • Player position for each season is based on their position in that season, not the season beforehand. The fantasy position for each player in a season is assigned based on how often they played in each position in the same season. You might have noticed that Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, 2017-18) is listed as a FWD even though he was actually a MID in FPL 17-18; this was because he played more as a FWD in 17-18 than he did as a MID.
  • In regards to goals conceded, each player effectively plays the whole match (regardless of whether they were substituted in/out). Since the times of each goal scored are not included in Understat's match player data, each player is penalized for conceding more than 2 goals even if they came on as a substitute after those goals were scored. Case in point: Diego Rico (AFC Bournemouth, 18-19) ended up with a total raw score of -1 because Bournemouth conceded so many goals (19) in the 12 appearances he made, even though he was only on the pitch for a handful of them. This also means that players who were substituted off after the 60th minute of a match with no goals conceded lost their clean sheet if their team conceded a goal afterwards.

"Dream Teams"

The tables below contain images of the "dream teams" (i.e., teams that score the maximum possible points) for all the seasons of all the leagues examined in the spreadsheet. These work similarly to the FPL overall dream team. Each value in the table below is the total points scored by that dream team. Each player's total points and bonus points (in parentheses) are displayed, as well as their starting and ending costs.
I've listed 3 types of dream teams for each season/league. First, a dream team where the price of the players selected doesn't matter — we're only looking to maximize points scored (this is how the FPL dream teams work). Second, a dream team where the total starting cost of all the players selected is no more than €83.0 (since €17.0 is required to afford the cheapest possible bench players). Third, a dream team where the total ending cost of all the players selected is no more than €83.0. I think it's interesting to see the variations across all the leagues and seasons.

2019.08.08 01:53 StVitus85 Why AFL backmen deserve a medal

Link here: https://thewest.com.au/opinion/glen-quartermain/glen-quartermain-why-afl-back-men-deserve-a-medal-ng-b881284469z
First off apologies, as I didn't realise The West had put up a paywall, so I can't actually read the content of the article. If anyone has a subscription or knows a good way to extract the text, would you mind pasting it here? Sorry if alot of the stuff below is re-iterated in the text of the article itself, but I thought it'd be a good discussion.
The article's title does bring up an interesting question though: Should we have some sort of medal specifically for backmen? I know that the Coleman and Brownlow aren't specifically 'restricted' to forwards/mids, but that's just the way this goes most of the time - you won't see many backmen kicking 50+ goals a year, or averaging 30+ disposals. Giving a medal that's focused more around defensive stats would help more guys down the backline (and defensive-minded mids/fwds) get a bit more recognition than the historically flashier goal-kickers and possession-getters.
Secondly, what would you use to rate the effectiveness of someone's defensive play? The Coleman is easy: One stat - total number of goals. Whereas the Brownlow is a bit murkier, but is still heavily weighted to one main stat (possessions/disposals). should we grade defenders on a single stat (such as intercept marks, contested marks, tackles, spoils, etc...) or look at more of a combination to grade their overall workload (eg: total intercept marks/contested marks + clearances + disposal efficiency + meters gained, etc...). It isn't as clear cut for defenders, as they do a lot of different things to try and stop other teams from scoring (eg: how do you rate a spoil? Should we look more closely at 'effective' spoils, or is anything that stops the ball going near an opposition player at that time deemed an 'effective' defensive move?). In this way, we could also open the medal up to forwards/mids who may not consistently rack up goals or disposals, but help the team the other way with defensive running, tackling, intercepts, etc...
And thirdly: If there is such a medal, who should it be named after :)? Considering it'd be something new, I'd like to see it named after someone specifically from the AFL era. Maybe the Dustin Fletcher or Glen Archer Medal if you want high-profile names? Or my personal favourite - the Darren Glass medal ;)
Anyway, just wanted to fire up a discussion about this, as I hadn't seen it really brought up anywhere, but it's definitely something that I think would help showcase some of the 'lesser' known guys who work their butts off in the backline.

2019.02.07 11:17 peachnkeen519 Forgive the in laws bc DH asks me to??

Quite a bit of friction developed between me and my in laws since they were here in Nov/Dec visiting for a month after our newborn twins were born prematurely. Long story short, they acted very inappropriately and sometimes just rude to me shortly after we brought the babies home from the NICU. details here. They left 2nd week of Dec. On Xmas eve we got a package from them which was 2 sandwich bags of homemade cookies and stockings that MIL made (not exactly something me or DH like). Supposedly DH says that when they spoke on the phone this was supposed to be "a peace offering" with no other explanation to me. I wasn't there for the conversation so I don't know anything else and DH says that's all they said.
After their visit they seemed weird and when DH was on the phone with them for Xmas and new years, they didn't say hi or ask about me. They video called and said hi to the babies and even while I was holding girl baby, they still didn't say anything to me. This seemed hurtful and so I told DH to which he thought it was also strange so he texts his mother and asks if this was intentional and if she was mad at me. She responds it wasn't intentional. DH replies and says it would be helpful to reach out to me so she does, a week later, with an email saying she didn't see me so she didn't say hi, sorry. Then she followed this with asking for baby pictures.
Since I have newborn twins, I didn't respond to this email bc I wasn't feeling like it. I feel resentment and that they made our relationship essentially irreparable. Then 2 weeks later, she fwds the email she sent to me to DH and asks if I haven't responded due to "nursing a grudge" and that she is "losing sleep over this". Now I feel that after what she did to me (giving me silent treatment after traumatic birth of premature twins, csection, excessive blood loss, hogging my babies in the newborn period, not helping cook or clean or anything while staying with us, etc), she should know better about why I might feel negative about her. I feel that this email to my husband is a way to put some friction between my husband and I whether or not she is doing this consciously. It feels somewhat manipulative to me since she never tried to contact me to see if I got the email or call or text or anything. This felt like a slap in the face.
Anyhow, I'm still angry about the whole situation and feel that until I get a genuine apology for all their shitty behavior, I won't be forgiving them as how they treated me during the most vulnerable time in my life. My husband wants me to forgive them and move on but he said they have a very very difficult time with apologies. I don't know how I am supposed to just forgive them, I don't see them the same way I used to since all of this happened. DH doesn't seem to understand the severity of how their behavior has affected me although I've explained countless times. His response is that they have done plenty of hurtful things to him and his siblings but there have been good times too. I am appalled. Their oldest daughter even has a 3 days visit limit with them bc of their strained relationship. my parents have never done anything remotely like what they did. When I realized that their selfish desires resulted in being extremely rude to me after I gave birth, it makes me think that they are not the kind of people I want in my life, is this not justified? I think this situation speaks about their character but my husband is convince they "aren't bad people or being malicious". But in my opinion selfishness to this degree was malicious esp when I was at a high risk for post partum depression/anxiety. I'll allow them to see their grandkids but only in a limited capacity now.
Thoughts from the community? How do I just suck it up to keep parents in law happy and the family relationship whole?

2019.01.31 13:04 Deivutz8 Load txt file from google Drive

I'm stuck working on loading a txt file from the internet. My goal :
I have a .txt (or somewhat) file stored on the Internet( OneDrive or Google drive, etc). I want to load the content of the txt file into a string in Unity using c#

My code
using UnityEngine; using System.Collections; using UnityEditor; public class txttest : MonoBehaviour { void Start() { string url = "https://drive.google.com/open?id=1X_HF3nArMjeSq-fvsQtEz3aaQKGRTRJx"; WWW www = new WWW(url); StartCoroutine(WaitForRequest(www)); } IEnumerator WaitForRequest(WWW www) { yield return www; if (www.error == null) { Debug.Log("txt content: " + www.text); } else { Debug.Log("Error: " + www.error); } } }
but when i run this, it doesn't shows me an error. It shows that it worked properly but it doesn't.
In the console it shows up this:
txt content: test.txt - Google Drive
