2024.05.16 02:58 Dry-Restaurant-8953 Reactive Tinnitus/Dysacusis or Auditory Hallucinations
Good morning everyone. It's my first time to join such group. I'm actually hesitant to join because I don't know if this will just exacerbate my symptoms knowing that I'm still hyperaware of my condition because of continuous research. But I badly need your help because upon reading in some posts, I've learned that others are experiencing exactly the same with mine. So I hope you'll be patient enough to answer my queries. Thank you so much in advance.
Here's my condition in details. I actually have TMJ dysfunction for a month now. My left TMJ is displaced due to over-straining my jaw while talking and chewing I guess because I'm a teacher. The pain behind my ear never stops until now but it's actually manageable. Other than that, I don't have any complaints about my TMD.
But this alarmed me a lot. Last 2 weeks, my left ear clogged when I woke up. I think the reason is because of the ear plugs I worn that night. But upon waking, it's only my left which is clogged. No problem with my right ear tho. It's clogged and muffled as if pressure is trapped in my ears. So I went to ENT but the doctor said I don't have any problem with my ears. It's clear, no build up of ear wax nor water inside. I went to another ENT and said I have little inflammation in my nose and throat which may cause the clogging. But after few days, my condition didn't improve. Still clogged and full. So i went to another ENT doctor this time in a big hospital, I did hearing test and the result is normal. I also did tympanometry and the doctor said I have a little problem with my eustachian tube. So he prescribed betahistine and anti histamine for treatment but still no progress.
But here's what bothers me THE MOST now. When i went back home, since my lef ear is clogged, I tried to put warm compress on it maybe it will ease the pain. I did it for 15 minutes but only once. After the compress, suddenly I heard a high pitched sound which I believe is coming from the fan. Since it's kinda unusual that when I turn off the fan, the high pitched will fade. As if I am hearing two different sounds in the fan, one is the real wind sound and the high pitched accompanied by it. So i already felt there's something wrong.
Until now, the high pitched never disappeared everytime I hear the fan, AC, refrigerator, running water or any white noise related sound. I don't know where is the noise coming from. I tried to ask someone if they hear the same sound but they can't. I know I also have tinnitus because when I am in silence, I can hear some buzzing sound in my ear but actually that's more manageable than the sound I hear along with white noise sounds. It's like a high pitched/morse code sound going along with the external sound. This bothers me the most since of course I can't live without those appliances. I'm trying to ignore and just focus in the real sound but still it just amplifies the sound.
Also, everytime I go outside, I can hear some distorted harmony tune along with the external sounds. It's not music but it's just a very short cinsistent tune. The sound is very consistent and just the same. I don't know if I am just having auditory hallucinations or I can really hear the sound. This bothers me a lot because it just amplifies with other external sounds. My head hurts a lot.
This is very hard for me because ever since silence is my ultimate relief. I love silence. I hate loud noises even before. But now, the high pitched noise, morse code noise and the distorted harmony I can hear just ruined everything. I don't know what's my condition. Why this happened just very instant.
Please help me. I will appreciate all your information and advices. Thank you so much!

I am grateful to have had at least a couple of internships before i graduated but it seems like they mean nothing.
Lately i've been getting rejected right after applying by a lot of small non-tech companies like local hospital networks, retail companies, healthcare companies, etc
I'm applying to junioassociate/level 1 SWE roles so its not like i'm competing with people with 10 YEO. are ex-faang, ex-jane street people really applying to these kinds of places? because who else could those "other candidates" be?

2024.05.16 02:48 DoubleCubes Question about MinGW-w64 and LGPL license
In the MinGW-w64 repository on sourceforge, there these files:
https://sourceforge.net/p/mingw-w64/mingw-w64/ci/mastetree/COPYING.MinGW-w64/COPYING.MinGW-w64.txt https://sourceforge.net/p/mingw-w64/mingw-w64/ci/mastetree/COPYING.MinGW-w64-runtime/COPYING.MinGW-w64-runtime.txt It seem to suggest that distribution of binaries built using MinGW-w64 should include the COPYING.MinGW-w64-runtime.txt file.
The COPYING.MinGW-w64-runtime.txt file have this part at the bottom of the file:
=================================== Headers and IDLs imported from Wine =================================== Some header and IDL files were imported from the Wine project. These files are prominent maked in source. Their copyright belongs to contributors and they are distributed under LGPL license. Disclaimer This library is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2.1 of the License, or (at your option) any later version. This library is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See the GNU Lesser General Public License for more details.
Now I am aware that my program just need to not use these lgpl licensed codes. But how do I make sure of that?
The wiki2 page for MinGW-w64 Wine integration (
https://sourceforge.net/p/mingw-w64/wiki2/Wine%20integration/) say this:
WIDL widl is Wine reimplementation of MIDL, Microsoft IDL compiler. * Needs to be imported to mingw-w64 SVN and added to build system. * Licensing worries: WIDL is LGPL-ed and its produced code must not enforce any licensing limits. Current understanding is that autogenerated code inherits IDL license. There are some code chunks in generated code that are not autogenerated, so they imply LGPL license. Alexandre Julliard (their author) agreed to relicense them. They could be also avoided by using compiler exceptions.
What is `compiler exceptions` here?
There is also this:
IDL files Wine IDL files are LGPL-ed, which may imply LGPL typelibs and proxy/stubs. Temporary solution: not include IDL files in base product, provide them in an optional SDK. Long term solution: probably needs lawyer consultation.
I don't really know how idl files work. Is there a way I can make sure that my program binaries built using MinGW-w64 doesn't include these files?
I am using MinGW-w64 on Windows and would like to distribute my programs binaries under the MIT license, so I cant have LGPL codes compiled to my binaries.
So, I have 2 questions:
- How do I make sure that my binaries compiled using MinGW-w64 not include the LGPL code
- I have been searching for a talk about this topic in the last few days. The best I found is one stackexchange post about the runtime license that have answer unsatisfy my question, or few reddit posts that only mention the licensing of libgcc and libstdc++ (Which have exceptions) and completely not mention the runtime license of MinGW-w64. Are people just doesnt know about the existence of this license file?
Thank you for answering my questions.
Edit: Make codeblock work properly

2024.05.16 01:54 prophase25 Using a monorepo in web development 2024
Recently, I’ve moved towards using a monorepo in my projects. In the past, I’ve had a separate repository for the frontend, server, and any other services grouped into a GitHub organization. Shared code? Copy paste. There are a lot of advantages to that. It’s easy to move quickly.
That said, I am starting to see a lot of value in the consistency that shared packages would bring to my codebases. There’s two main things I want:
- Shared types across applications that I normally have in separate repositories
- Reduced complexity through consistent tooling and configuration
I am about 6 months in from reading about them, 3 months deep into refactoring ~10 codebases into 2 monorepos. Specifically, I am moving quite a few typescript repositories, a couple of Python repos, and one JavaScript repo. I am using Turborepo.
It has been a serious learning curve and there are parts that I feel have come with more boilerplate than I expected. Specifically, having to think about tsconfig, eslint, a build tool, turborepo’s config, environment files, test framework config, etc. for every single package feels like a lot of work.
I am writing a CLI tool to generate new apps and packages, but I wanted to hear from other people: is this all worth it? I have been battling between the thought that I am just not used to it yet vs. the thought that this may not be a reasonable undertaking for a single developer.
How many people are using a monorepo to house the majority of their code? What tools are you using? Do you work in more than one language?

2024.05.16 01:22 katerinakarina Recommend me a colour for Bolide 25
| So, yesterday I finally crossed out first bag of my wishlist - Picotin 18 un Sauge Clemence GHW. My next wishlist bag is Bolide 25. I love how classic and "stealthy" it looks. My SA told me to decide on one colour I REALLY want and she can start working towards it. She did mention that getting it in black is going to be close to impossible, so I have to pick some other colour. When it comes to personal preferences, I am pretty "neutral" girl. My wardrobe consists of mostly neutral colours - blacks, whites, creams, greys, khakis, blues with some addition of pinks. I'm "allergic" to patterns, lol. I only tolerate stripes, haha. 90% of my clothes are solid coloured. I'm not a fan of bold colours and reds either. I do love tan coloured bags, but, tbh, I own few of those from different brands already and feel I need to branch out a little bit. I don't have a dress code I need to abide to and my most "formal" outfit will most likely be business casual even when I'm meating people for work. Hoping to get some ideas. What colour would you go for if you were in my shoes? *picture of my bag for attention * submitted by katerinakarina to TheHermesGame [link] [comments] |

2024.05.16 00:50 juanitasdiner Rated Steakhouses in Tysons, Virginia 2024: A Carnivore's Guide to Exquisite Cuts
Tysons, Virginia, a bustling hub of commerce and innovation, also caters to the discerning palate with a remarkable selection of steakhouses. From classic steakhouses steeped in tradition to modern interpretations of the genre, Tysons offers an unforgettable culinary experience for every steak enthusiast. Here, we meticulously curate a list of Tysons' finest
steakhouses, each lauded for exceptional service, impeccable ambiance, and, of course, the art of grilling the perfect steak.
For the Discerning Traditionalist: Establishments Steeped in Steakhouse History - The Palm Tysons Corner: Established in 1926 in New York City, The Palm has become synonymous with iconic steakhouses. Their Tysons location carries on the legacy with a timeless elegance. USDA Prime cuts of beef reign supreme, dry-aged for unmatched tenderness and flavor. The signature Palm rib-eye, carved tableside, is a must-try, while the colossal bone-in ribeye is a shareable indulgence for the adventurous diner. An extensive wine list boasting vintages from around the globe ensures a perfect pairing for every cut.
- Morton's The Steakhouse: Another titan of the steakhouse world, Morton's offers an unwavering commitment to quality and service. Their Tysons location features a luxuriously appointed dining room, ideal for a special occasion or a power business lunch. Expect an impressive selection of USDA Prime beef, cooked to precise doneness. Morton's signature cut, the bone-in filet mignon, is a testament to their expertise. An impressive seafood selection and classic steakhouse sides like creamed spinach and lobster mac and cheese round out the menu.
For the Modern Palate: Innovative Interpretations of the Steakhouse Experience - Capital Grille: Capital Grille brings a contemporary twist to the steakhouse experience. Their sleek, urban-chic dining room pulsates with energy. The menu showcases high-quality cuts of USDA Prime beef alongside creative appetizers and innovative side dishes. Capital Grille's dry-aged steaks offer an intense depth of flavor, while their wagyu tasting menu is a luxurious indulgence for adventurous gourmands. An award-winning wine list featuring both established and up-and-coming vintners complements the exceptional cuisine.
- J. Alexanders: J. Alexanders strikes a balance between classic comfort and modern innovation. The warm, inviting atmosphere creates a perfect setting for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. Their menu boasts a diverse selection of steaks, including USDA Prime cuts alongside lesser-known yet equally delicious options like hanger steak and flat iron steak. J. Alexanders prides itself on using only the freshest, high-quality ingredients, evident in their flavorful cuts and creative sides like truffle mac and cheese and roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon.
Beyond the Steak: Exploring Upscale Accompaniments While the steak is undoubtedly the star of the show at these establishments, it's the exceptional accompaniments that elevate the dining experience to new heights. Expect to find a wide array of
tempting appetizers, from succulent oysters Rockefeller and decadent foie gras to chilled seafood towers and lobster bisque.
Classic steakhouse sides are offered alongside more
inventive creations, ensuring there's something to tantalize every taste bud. Creamy mashed potatoes, crispy onion rings, and creamed spinach are perennial favorites, while dishes like truffle fries, roasted asparagus with parmesan cheese, and sauteed mushrooms with garlic add a touch of modern flair.
The Art of the Perfect Steak: Selecting Your Cut For the uninitiated steak enthusiast, navigating the diverse cuts of meat on a steakhouse menu can be daunting. Here's a brief guide to some of the most popular options:
- Filet Mignon: The quintessential cut for steak purists, the filet mignon is known for its exceptional tenderness and buttery texture. Due to its lean nature, it is typically cooked to medium-rare to preserve its juiciness.
- Ribeye: A steak lover's delight, the ribeye is richly marbled with fat, resulting in an intense flavor and juicy bite. The generous marbling also makes it forgiving of slightly higher cooking temperatures.
- New York Strip: A flavorful cut with a good balance of meat and fat, the New York Strip offers a satisfying chew and robust beef taste. It is a versatile cut that can be cooked to various doneness levels.
- T-Bone Steak: This impressive cut combines a filet mignon on one side and a New York strip on the other, offering diners the best of both worlds in terms of tenderness and flavor.
Maximizing Your Tysons Steakhouse Experience: A Guide for Discerning Diners
To maximize your Tysons steakhouse experience, consider these following tips:
- Make a Reservation: Tysons' finest steakhouses are popular among locals and visitors alike. To secure a table, especially on weekends or for special occasions, be sure to make a reservation well in advance. Most establishments offer online reservation options for your convenience.
- Dress Code: While some steakhouses in Tysons cater to a business casual crowd, establishments like The Palm and Morton's maintain a dressier atmosphere. A jacket and tie for men and a cocktail dress or elegant pantsuit for women are appropriate attire for these upscale venues.
- Understanding the Menu: Familiarize yourself with the menu beforehand, especially if you're unfamiliar with steakhouse cuts or terminology. Many steakhouses offer online menus for browsing. Don't hesitate to ask your server for recommendations or clarification on any menu items.
- Navigating Steak Options: Consider your preferences when choosing your steak. Filet mignon is ideal for those who prioritize tenderness, while ribeye offers a bolder flavor with its rich marbling. New York strip provides a good balance and is suitable for a range of cooking temperatures.
- Doneness Preference: Specify your desired doneness level when ordering your steak. Here's a quick guide:It's important to note that preference plays a big role. If you're unsure, medium rare is generally recommended to best experience the flavor and texture of the steak.
- Rare: A cool, red center with a warm exterior (120°F)
- Medium Rare: A warm red center with a seared exterior (130°F)
- Medium: A slightly pink center with a cooked exterior (140°F)
- Medium Well: Mostly cooked with a hint of pink in the center (150°F)
- Well Done: Cooked throughout with no pink remaining (160°F)
- Exploring Accompaniments: Don't underestimate the power of side dishes to elevate your steak experience. Consider balancing out your protein-rich steak with lighter options like roasted vegetables or a simple salad. For a decadent indulgence, share a side of creamed spinach or truffle fries.
- Wine Pairings: Many steakhouses boast extensive wine lists featuring a diverse selection of reds that pair beautifully with steak. If you're unfamiliar with wine pairings, consult your server for recommendations based on your chosen steak and your taste preferences.

2024.05.16 00:38 KatTheLynn Is this company legit?
Is this jr developer job a scam
A friend of mine told me he had an interview for a jr developer. He doesn’t code so I thought he couldn’t get accepted. Like he doesn’t have a GitHub or anything.
They said he got the job for 45$ an hour and would send him a laptop to learn.
It sounds unrealistic. So he told me the company and it is called vreadynow
Their online activity is minimal. They claim to have multiple offices in multiple countries. I see them on job websites but nowhere else.
Their website is http not using https which is just weird for a tech company. I can’t find a way to validate they are false and my friend might end up getting scammed. Anyone got any idea?

2024.05.16 00:32 MushirMickeyJoe Taking over this sub!
I requested to own
MinecraftForAdults to run it as a hub for grownups like me who don't constantly want to be bunched in with the kids who also enjoy the game. Seems reasonable.
Little bit about me: My name is Mickey Joe, I'm born in 1997, and I'm a huge Minecraft fan. I live together with my girlfriend, and my biggest hobby is working on my better-vanilla resource pack:
Barely Default. I'm also a content creator on YouTube, and have contributed to the Minecraft communities on many platforms, including on reddit.
Now for the purpose of this sub:
It's not a porn sub. Let me just make that clear. I want this place to have a chance to grow into something I personally need from the Minecraft community, and I'm not interested in seeing 'adult' Minecraft content in that way.
Bit there's plenty of adults like me who just wanna talk about the game. So that's what we do. We hang out, chill, and no need to cater to kids here.
I did
a short video explaining my vision for 'Minecraft as an adult game'. Might be interesting.
If you're a content creator like me, this could also be a place to find your audience or ask questions and get real answers without being suggested to make more kid friendly content. Just simple stuff like that. I personally don't want to compete with clickbait nonesense like what's on Minecraft YouTube or on the Bedrock Marketplace.
So I hope you get it. We just chill, share content, post memes, whatever. But instead of doing it on
Minecraft (who hate artists anyways lol) which intends to be a padded safe space, here we can just talk shit and don't have to feel responsible for it.
I'll be formally setting this place up over the coming few days. Welcome to
MinecraftForAdults!

2024.05.16 00:25 _manster_ cHAos multi panel R3xS Debug image for new displays
Hack Around has released a debug image that detects the display versions automatically. This will mean no more fiddling around with .dtb files in the future!
From discord:
I made a debug image for the new panels. the purpose is to automatically detect new panels and load the correct config without any dtb replacement, just plug and play. before the code it gets into AmberELEC, I need more tests.
write the new image to a SD card. if the device has one of 3 known panels it will boot normally. if is not booting, then it might be a "special" panel, in that case you need a different timing for the panel. so let the image to install (5-10min), power off the device and boot the device by holding X button and the OS will change the timing for the display. if the device is still not even booting with X, DM me, you might have a new panel, and because is a debug image I included some "extras" to get info about the display you are using. this image can be used even for devices DOA, like that we understand if you device is really dead or just wrong timing/panel/init etc. don't forget to give me feedback. thanks!

2024.05.16 00:21 JonnyBTokyo This has to be the best Olympics ticketing system of all time.
Centralising everything on one site instead of allocating x amount of tickets to each country to sell has been so much easier to understand.
Good idea to hold back tickets in each of the 3 initial phases too, if you are at work/asleep one day then you are not punished for missing out.
The tickets you don't want in the make my games packs are available to sell separately.
Resale that is working great. Bought a ticket on it and sold 2. Absolutely brilliant that it is face value. Works both ways for the buyers and the sellers. A tiny percent commission is so much better than what the likes of StubHub would be. Screw the scalpers.
Congratulations Paris.

2024.05.16 00:13 melview1 London Tickets On Sale Date?
Great thread here about London. However, I had some further questions and wondered if anyone has any insight.
- When do tickets actually go on sale? Source? For STM, we need to register by 5/24 for the STM presale opportunity, which would suggest they don't go on sale to the public until after 5/24. StubHub doesn't have tickets available yet, but somehow VividSeats is already selling tickets. The cheapest is $366, so are these jacked up prices on tickets that aren't even real yet?
- Has anyone done the On Location Experience packages? There's no real information on those yet, so does anyone have ballpark per person prices from past experiences as to what these packages might go for and is it worth it?
I'm strongly considering going, but am a bit confused at where to watch and when. If I am unable to get tickets through the STM presale, I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to go next. $366 for literal highest section, Row 31 nosebleeds is crazy talk.
