“Beasts all over the shop…You’ll be one of them, sooner or later…”
The strange Hunter turned around and exhaled. His breath was visible against the night’s air.
He’s bloodlusted. Aegis, I hope you have a plan.
Shimmer saw Elpis step back slightly, with a shocked expression on her face. She shakily raised a claw and pointed at something on the ground.
No. It… it can’t be.
That’s… horrible.
A shattered red jeweled necklace lay strewn across the ground, beside the mangled corpse of the Silkwing.
The Hivewing in front of the three swung his axe to the side. As it was a trick weapon, he was able to change its form on command. The axe had two forms: a shortened form that acted sort of like a sword, and an extended form specialized in crowd control and reach.
He extended his axe and Shimmer heard a low snarl from his throat.
“Do we kill him?” Elpis asked, a hint of fear in her voice.
“We don't have a choice. Steel yourself.” Aegis muttered and brandished his silksabers. The blades gleamed in the soft light of the three moons.
The hunter was taller than all of them, one head taller than Aegis and two taller than Shimmer and Elpis. Black tattered robes clung to him, marking him a Shadowhunter. Blood from tonight’s hunt stained the black fabric, showcasing his expertise and experience in the hunt. He wore a rounded dark-gray hat, and bloodied bandages covered his eyes. Shimmer wondered if he could even see.
Corpses of both beasts and dragons were scattered about the square-shaped courtyard, an equal amount of gravestones breaking up the open space. His teeth were uneven as if he had been eating and chewing rough bones. Blood dripped from his mouth down his neck, and his Hivewing stingers flexed in anticipation.
“Be careful,” Aegis started, “He’s going to use magic. Elpis, don’t use any of yours.” He told the hybrid dragon beside him, and she nodded.
The hunter walked slowly around them, searching for a weakness in their structure, and then spat out a lump of coagulated blood.
“That stench of squalid blood. No beast will be spared.” He half-muttered and half-growled. He tipped his hat respectfully, before lunging at Elpis. She dove to the side, and tried to retaliate with her scythe, but just slightly missed.
This hunter was agile, surprisingly so considering how old he looked. Shimmer gripped the handle of her silkhammer, knowing it wasn’t the time to strike. She stepped backward, seeking cover behind a grave, while Aegis leaped forward with the intent to pierce the frenzied hunter’s heart. Once again, the hunter rolled to the side and sent his axe hurtling towards the smaller Silkwing. Shimmer felt fear grip her heart, but Aegis avoided the blade. He fell back and motioned for Elpis to stay back.
“A sporting hunt. But alas, I’ve forgotten to ask your name.” Aegis growled, and the hunter laughed a sick, disturbing laugh.
“The name’s Gascoigne.” He shot back, and jumped into the air, slamming his axe down where Aegis was a split second ago. Shimmer’s ears rung from the sound of the impact. Her antennae subconsciously curled in defensively.
“Gascoigne. That’s a nice name. I’ll tell Ludwig you were a proud hunter till the end.” Aegis replied and sent his twin blades slicing into the hunter’s thigh. He recoiled, and a gleeful laugh escaped his bloodied mouth.
“Hehe… the sweet stench of blood. Just… just marvelous!” He exclaimed and raised his off-talon towards Aegis.
“Aegis! Get down!” Shimmer called, and a burst of flame erupted from the hunter’s claws across the courtyard. The limited magic the Hivewing had that he was willing to use in this hunt.
Aegis fell back, hissing in pain as a few stray flames singed his tail. The hunter chuckled under his breath, and Elpis took advantage of the opening he had presented her. She thrust the blade of her scythe toward him, opting for its sword form as of now, and the hunter knocked the blow aside. He countered with a kick to the Ice-Hivewing’s ribs, and she was sent to the ground. She coughed up a spurt of blue Icewing blood, and the hunter lifted his axe for a finishing blow.
Shimmer roared out and swung her hammer toward the hunter. The silk connected it to her wrists as it flew through the air, and it hit the hunter square in his side just as his axe was falling. He was sent into the opposite side of the courtyard, coughing and sputtering, but with a faint smirk on his face. Shimmer was in disbelief; how was he not dead?
“Ooh, what’s that smell… the sweet blood, ooh, it sings to me! It's enough to make a dragon sick.” Gascoigne laughed hollowly. He raised his talon, and Shimmer quickly rolled to the side as a ball of flame soared past her horns.
He’s going to turn at this rate.
Shimmer hid under a gravestone as a tree behind her erupted in flames, and Aegis jumped into the air. He beat his four wings ferociously before diving into the hunter. He caught both of Aegis’ horns, and he twisted his head. Aegis fell to the ground, and Gascoigne slashed his axe down across the Silkwing’s leg. Aegis cried out, and Shimmer’s heart ached. She pushed herself up, ignoring the raging fire around her, and she threw her hammer up in the air and aimed it towards the hunter. He narrowly evaded the heavy impact of the stone before Shimmer heard a metal clang behind her.
Elpis, scythe in one talon, approached Gascoigne. She had the little music box in her other.
Elpis played the music box and a song of eerie notes filled the courtyard.
The hunter stumbled back, clawing at his face, and Elpis shot Shimmer a look, her face telling her to make sure Aegis was okay.
Elpis advanced on the struggling hunter, and Shimmer leaped over to her Silkwing partner, who was injured on the ground. She felt tears welling in her eyes, but she knew this wasn’t the time to cry.
“Aegis. Look at me. Look at me.” She repeated, and he lifted his head weakly. His leg had a massive gash in it, but he could probably still walk, just with a limp.
“Ah, Shimmer. I’m alright. I’ll be back in the fight. Go, help Elpis. I’ll join back soon enough.” He groaned, and the pair heard a roar behind them.
Elpis was locked in a duel with Gascoigne, and the hunter’s stray fireballs met with blasts of frostbreath. For the first time in the battle, the hunter had a slight look of fear on his face. Elpis was relentless, her burial blade swiftly countering and stopping any attempt Gascoigne made at advancing. Aegis crawled back and attempted to stand, using a grave for support.
“Shimmer! I can’t hold him for long!” Elpis called, and Shimmer nodded. She took the hammer in her claws and swung it around her side, and in a clockwise circle in the air. It was the perfect counterweight to her body weight. She hoisted it up further into the air and then brought it crashing down onto the hunter.
It struck Gascoigne directly on the spine, and he fell to the ground.
He screamed in pain.
And then, a bright light flashed from his body.
His screams deepened in tone, morphing to be more animalistic. His posture fell forward, and his muscles rippled through his body. He grew in size, and more of his bloodied garb ripped from the size change.
Fur sprouted from seemingly random places on the Hivewing’s body, and his claws extended. His face shifted, his features becoming more and more distorted. His black hat fell to the ground.
The bandages around his eyes stayed, as well as the black-tattered garb that marked him as once a Hunter.
He was no longer a Hunter. Moons above, he wasn’t even a dragon anymore.
He was now a beast.
Shimmer’s heart pounded in her chest. She stared at the transformation for a split second, before reeling in her hammer. She took it in her right talon and dove behind a gravestone, wary of the spreading flames.
Elpis, on the other claw, held her blade in front of her. Shimmer heard a rasping cough escape the Ice-HiveWing’s throat, but she didn’t break her stance.
The beast that was once Gascoigne whipped around toward Elpis, and launched himself at her, with a ferocity Shimmer had never seen even in beasts.
Elpis sidestepped quickly. The beast slammed into the wall with a loud roar, and Shimmer spied Aegis in her peripheral vision struggling to stand. He winced as he stood on his injured leg, but didn’t cry out. He brandished his two blades as the beast charged at him.
“Aegis!” Shimmer cried.
He’s going to get hit. That beast will kill him.
Aegis ignored her, and as soon as the beast was within a wingspan from him he twisted his body in such a way that he narrowly avoided the savage charge. He elegantly sliced his twin blades across the beast’s hide, and the creature howled before rapidly turning to face him.
Shimmer flew into the air. “Get away from him!” She yelled before bringing the weight of her hammer down on the beast. It flattened part of his ribcage, but it seemed impervious to the pain. It did knock him to the ground, though, giving Aegis a moment to cut through what was once two of the hunter’s wings.
The beast quickly got back on its claws before sending a flurry of swipes towards Shimmer. She dodged to the side and readied her hammer for another strike.
That was before the beast kicked her square in her chest, its sharp, ravenous claws digging in and tearing her scales. Shimmer fell back, a slight gasp escaping her mouth, and she stumbled back into the wall. She lost her footing and fell to the ground, and gazed up at the beast locked on her.
“Aegis! Help!” She yelled, and not even a second later her Silkwing partner crashed into the beast. They fell to the ground, grappling with each other before Shimmer heard a familiar song fill the courtyard.
Elpis was cranking the music box, its ominous lullaby breaking up the noise of the fight. The beast stopped attacking Aegis and instead clawed at its face. It growled and screamed in pain, drawing blood from its very own fur and scales.
“Now! Kill it!” She yelled through the song, and Aegis nodded before driving his two blades through the beast’s skull.
They stuck, and the beast roared before throwing him off. It crawled and thrashed about on the ground, clearly not dead, and the two new blades stuck to his head pointed out like new horns.
Now’s my chance.
Shimmer stumbled to her claws and wound her hammer up into the air. With every last bit of her strength, she brought it down on the flailing beast.
It crushed what was left of the hunter.
Silence filled the courtyard, only broken by a few stray notes from the music box, the pained breathing of the three hunters in the area, and the howls and screams from other places in the Hive.
Shimmer breathed a sigh of relief, before collapsing.
I did it. We did it.
Gascoigne was free.
…
“I brought you water.”
Shimmer opened her eyes and found herself in her familiar hospital room.
The morning sun’s rays lit the room, and Shimmer felt very little pain from her chest.
It had been three days since that night.
Shimmer fixed her gaze on the purple-orange Silkwing sitting beside her and smiled.
“Thanks. I’m feeling much better, we should get going to Bloodworm soon. It’s today, remember?” Shimmer asked, and he nodded. Of course, he remembered.
The summons for every hunter to come to Bloodworm Hive. Ludwig, The Holy Blade had requested them all. He no doubt planned an attack. A shame really, the hive was only newly rebuilt. And now it was going to be the site of a horrid, savage warzone.
“I remember. Are you sure you’re feeling okay? Ludwig would understand if you couldn’t come,” Aegis asked, and she spied a hint of worry on his face.
“I’m fine. I need to make sure you don’t do anything stupid. I’ll come.” She sighed and took a sip from the canteen that Aegis had brought. It tasted wonderful, he had put something in to flavor it.
“Honeydew?” She guessed, and Aegis smiled.
“Yep. It’s your favorite, right?” He asked, and she nodded. She opened her arms, and he hugged her tight.
“I love you,” Shimmer whispered in his ear.
“I love you too. I pray to Clearsight that we’ll both be safe today. I can’t bear to lose you.” Aegis replied. He pulled away and gazed out the window.
Shimmer quickly drank the rest of the honeydew-flavored water before getting out of bed. She joined him at the window and was slightly surprised by what she saw.
Almost all of the hunters of Jewel Hive were preparing, some of them already flying in the direction of Bloodworm. They were all sharpening their trick weapons, mixing poisons, or saying goodbye to loved ones.
“We should get going. It’ll be midmorning when we get there, I don’t want to be late.” Shimmer suggested, and Aegis put a wing around her.
“Now? I need to get my stuff, and you do too. Join me at the workshop.” He asked, and she slid her head in the curve of his neck as he led her out of her sick room.
…
Shimmer beat her wings strong and fast against the morning savanna winds.
She saw what looked to be several hundred, maybe even a thousand dragons gathered around a hill. All of them had a colored garb fluttering proudly from their neck. Around ninety percent of the garbs were white, and the rest were black.
They were all different tribes and a fair amount of hybrids were scattered about as well. The gathered hunters were mostly Pantalan, but a good few were from Pyrrhia as well.
Shimmer and Aegis landed a short distance away from the hill, and all around them the sounds of dragons conversing and laughing with each other.
The sun was high in the sky, but it wasn’t quite noon yet.
“You see anyone you recognize?” Aegis asked, and Shimmer shook her head.
“There’s too many dragons here. It’s too much.” She whimpered, and Aegis pulled her close. He knew she didn’t do well in crowds. That was partly why she became a Shadowhunter. To work alone or with no more than a few other dragons.
“You’re safe with me.” He comforted her, and she leaned against him.
She had always hated being with a lot of other dragons. Aegis said it sounded like she had anxiety, which made sense. It didn’t do much to alleviate that fear, though.
None of them are thinking about you. They’re all busy with their own stuff.
Just take deep breaths.
“Do you want to move away? There’s fewer dragons over there,” He asked and pointed a claw across from them.
“…No, no I’m fine.” She whispered, and Aegis sighed.
“Alright. If you want to move, don’t be afraid to ask. I don’t mind it.”
Shimmer shook her head quickly, before the pair heard a loud voice from the top of the hill. They both looked up and saw the legendary hunter himself: Ludwig.
The menacing Nightwing stood proudly, his holy silver sword slung across his shoulder. His partner Memoria stood beside him, her tail twined around his. She had a bored look on her face as she stared at the crowd. The voices of the dragons fell silent, and Shimmer felt like she could breathe again.
The Nightwing’s loud voice echoed through the plain. “Dear Hunters.” He paused, his heroic voice inspiring pride and triumph in Shimmer, even though he had barely started.
“I’m sure all of you know why we’re here. Behind me, Bloodworm Hive stands proud against the horizon. Yet I am more than certain you all know what lies inside.” He paused and pointed his sword toward the dark shape of the Hive.
“Beasts. A few thousand. I think it’s time we put them out of their misery. That is why we are here. A battle of the ages, one that will go down in history. We, the brave heroes, fighting against evil. We will be reveled, we will be honored. We will protect the dragons we hold dear to our hearts, and save those we can yet save.” His speech roused the crowd, and Shimmer felt herself stand a little taller.
“The plan is simple. The Hunters of the Sun will lead the charge from the front. I have already talked to the leaders of the charge. The Shadowhunters will pick the stray beasts off from behind. We will attack at dusk when half the sun is hidden from the eye.” He gestured with his sword at the rising sun, and he extended his wings. His massive wingspan seemed to fill the sky, and Shimmer's heart swelled with pride.
He held his sword up to the heavens, and it transformed. It grew larger, into the shape of a claymore, and it turned a shade of sacred jade. It glowed with an otherworldly light, and the crowd was enamored by the display.
“Now, hunters. Spend the rest of today preparing. The hunt is on tonight. Ludwig, The Holy Blade will be with all of you in spirit.” He bellowed, and the crowd erupted in applause and cheers.
Shimmer saw a proud, triumphant look in Aegis’ eyes, and she felt the same. Ludwig’s blade captivated her. The blade of legend, inspiring all who lay eyes on it.
Ludwig would be with them tonight. The best, the greatest, the strongest hunter ever.
Tonight, the hunters would not know defeat.
Nor would they ever, with Ludwig alive and at their side.

The long story:
I'm a 29-year-old cis straight man and have lived in Boston for about half a year.
Since moving here, I've not been able to find a room in what I would call a "casual communal" living situation (I've only lived in one shared house so far in Boston, but have viewed a few). Currently, my housemates are kind of a random gabble and there's not a lot of common ground - so we stick to ourselves quite a lot. And it is starting to get a bit rough coming home and not really seeing anyone, or necessarily wanting to hang out with housemates.
So, I'd be keen to live somewhere that is social and communal, without all of the excessive organization I see in some places (ie. no monthly meetings, no strict requirements for cooking together, no chore schedule, just a group of good, normal, friendly housemates that enjoy one another's company and are respectful).
Ideally, the vibe would be a very low-key one, where people can do what they want (within reason of course), but where there is more likely than not someone around to watch a movie, grab a drink, cook dinner, or just spin a yarn with. I'm beyond the age of regular parties, but having people round once in a while for dinner, a few drinks, or a game would be chill.

Golf Gals

This is a two day event (May 18 and June 1) for women and is free for those under the age of 18, held at the Victoria Golf Course in partnership with PGA of Alberta Instructors. Day one is instructional, held on the driving range. Day 2 includes a round of golf. There are limited bags of clubs available to be borrowed. Registration closes tonight! Put on at Hudsons and presented by Parks Distillery, Expect a DJ showdown as decksters duke it out for positioning at the grand finale (which takes place in September), where they'll compete for cash prizes. The first round (of 3 rounds) is May 19 & I imagine it's 18+.

Celebration of Dance @ Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village

Situated just outside Elk Island Park, the Ukrainian Heritage Village is a place where we (of all nationalities) can come together to celebrate Ukrainian heritage. On May 20 there'll be a host of dance performances to take in, commencing at 10 AM. In addition to this, the village will also be be open for exploration. Step back in time to life on the farm, enjoy traditional food and learn about cultural ways from periodically costumed interpreters. Bring a lawn chair.

Build and Decorate a Birdhouse (Kids Age 5-12)

And by kids, I'm referring to (your) children. Leave the goats at home please. Anyway, bring 'em down from 10 am to 1 PM on May 18 (to certain Rona locations) and leave with a beautiful birdhouse constructed by them. Drinks and snacks are provided. This event is FCFS until supplies run out.

TL/DR: Kid’s keep disrespecting my boundaries. The youngest one think she’s entitled to play with my dog whenever she wants and expects me to let her get away with it.
Side note: this is long and I’m sorry but I’m still angry and wanted to vent
So, there are kids that live in my neighborhood who are ages 12m, 11f, 10m and 7f. The 12 and 11 year olds are siblings, the 10 and 7 year old are not. Let’s call the siblings J and T, and the other two R and A.
J and T like any typical brother and sister duo are always fighting on and off. They used to play with each other outside with other kids, but because J is almost a teenager, he prefers to stay inside and game with his friends. Also funny fact, R has an older brother that also games and can often be heard screaming when he loses a match. It’s quite hilarious!
Anyways T, R, and A have been playing together and whenever I step outside I am polite and we have small chats about their day and other things. Sometimes I offer them snacks. I mean who doesn’t like a free cookie?
But here is the problem. Though I am 24, I look like a child. I’ve had to tell the kids more than once that I can’t “play” with them as I am an adult. Not too long ago, I lost my puppy and was devastated. The kids loved her and were at school when this happened and I’m glad they didn’t see what I did, because it was traumatic. My poor baby was hit by my mom’s jeep and she died almost instantly. I just sat there holding her paw crying because I knew she was gone. Just typing this is so hard for me but it’s part of my story. I miss her every day and I cannot stop blaming myself for her death. She was laid to rest in my backyard and I haven’t went to sit with her because I know I would break down again.
Lucky, I was given her little sister from the same litter from the sweet guy my dad got her from. I say “little” because my baby was WAY bigger than her littermate, and the puppy I have now was actually the runt. I was so happy, told the guy thank you over and over and snuggled my new pup. In response she gave me kisses. She sat in my lap the 30 minutes it took us to get home, and cried a few times. Each time she did I would snuggle her and tell her it’s okay and she eventually fell asleep. We’ve been best friends ever since.
Unfortunately for the very first week we had trouble with her. My poor baby had severe separation anxiety and would cry and howl and would refuse to sleep without me with her. Because I am attached to a medical device I couldn’t afford to let her sleep with me as she has tugged on both my infusion set and site (I have an insulin pump) and whenever she did, it hurt. Bad. We almost gave her back and her behavior changed drastically.
She has learned when I leave, I’ll always come back. She has learned it’s okay if she doesn’t sleep with me. She always waits patiently for me to come back home or to wake up. I am always greeted with a tail wag and one happy puppy.
The kids have met her and love her. We have a special enclosure outside for my puppy where she can run and play. The problem is, A has come over more than once and let my puppy out without asking. My dad has caught her each time. This freaks me out. There are several large dogs in our neighborhood with breeds that are considered dangerous and if they aren’t with their owners, said owners get arrested for putting children and other pets into potential danger. One of these dogs literally ate two of my kittens. I am not kidding. Legitimately one of the most gruesome things I’ve ever seen. I cannot imagine losing my baby to those hellions.
A also after letting my puppy loose will often wonder off and my puppy will follow her ACROSS the street which only increases my anxiety as I remember her sister’s death and I would absolutely lose my shit if my puppy got hit by a car. An important thing to note is that A has been dubbed as annoying by older kids and parents because she constantly bothers people wanting to play regardless of age and will just stay in people’s yards until she is forcefully told to go home. My mom and brother do not like this child because of this.
Each time A has done this, both my father and I have gently told her to ask before she takes my dog out to play and that though my puppy is sweet, she could potentially get bitten if she overwhelms her or that she could get in trouble if my dog got hurt or killed.
Did this little girl listen? No the fuck she did not and today was my final straw.
I was laying down and was falling asleep in bed when my dad alerted me that A again took my dog out with her usual excuse. I. GOT. PISSED. I jumped up and threw on some shoes and stomped out to the porch. T and A were playing with my dog. I didn’t yell but said in a stern tone to stop taking my dog out without my permission and that I was going to talk to their parents if this happened again. I told them there is no telling when my puppy gets aggravated by being constantly bothered and they could end up bitten and I also didn’t want her getting hurt or killed. I made a promise to take good care of her. A gave her the usual excuse of wanting to play with my dog with T claiming it “wasn’t her idea.” I was shaking so bad from being angry that I accidentally sliced my finger while preparing my puppies lunch. R who was there saw and heard everything later told me that the girls don’t listen to any adults.
I’m still angry. I have the right to be. I have a feeling this is gonna happen again and ISTG if the parents don’t do anything I’ll take legal action

Income: 110k W2 annually, plus a variable amount of K1 income (I own a small business with 500-700k ARR). For the sake of safety & being conservative, I’m only including my income and excluding my SO’s.
Currently contributing the maximum to a Roth IRA annually on January 1st. Currently no 401k, but as the business owner I am considering starting a Roth 401k plan for all employees, which would allow me to contribute to that as well.

Expenses and projections: -Rent: $1000/mo (LCOL city) -Meals/discretionary spending: $1500/mo -Future aging parent with 0 retirement savings (I will be 100% responsible financially). I estimate 10 years before this expense starts up. Options include caring for the parent myself, or paying for an assisted living facility. -Huge personal medical expenses: two insurance policies costing $1650/mo totaled, as well as projected out-of-pocket medical expenses of $30k in the next 5 years due to unavoidable chronic conditions.
Buying a home or land in the next 5 years is a large goal of mine as well, provided the value fits into my budget. Currently my comfortable price range would be ~250k, but in a few years I anticipate that will grow once I have a larger nest egg. Additionally, my rent is too cheap to heavily consider moving.
Growing up dirt poor, I made consistently terrible financial decisions up until my early 20s- wasting money from a medical settlement, making money from bitcoin and wasting the proceeds, charging off credit card debt, etc. Thankfully, I’ve settled all collections and am now debt free.

My kids are everything to me and I do love talking about them. I've never had an easy relationship with my queerness since I was an adolescent and had to contend with abusive, conservative parents that tried to torture it out of me. For me, queerness kept me apart, isolated with no hope for connection and love (and still does)
There's so many rites of passage that I had to miss out on as a teenager because my environment kept me constrained and repressed. I couldn't have honest friendships, I couldn't have crushes and I couldn't have free expression; all I could do is sit alone and plan to commit suicide (I attempted multiple times before I was 18).
Now, I'm 30 - just turned a few days ago - and trans, and death seems to become more and more appealing. I have resigned myself to the fact that love is not in the cards for me and that my gender identity keeps me cut off the rest of the world.
I wonder if I had been born cis and non-queer, maybe I could've settled down with a guy and started a family by now, but all I have is just hollow speculation of what might have been.
I don't really have anything to live for. My family continues to give me grief because of my queerness, and I have long grown disillusioned with the LGBT community because of how overly toxic it can be.
I'm just ready to die, and I'm grateful that my youth is quickly ebbing away and that I'm getting close to old age and death.
I hope there's an afterlife so I can finally live, so I can live with all the joy and relish I couldn't in this one. It would be wonderful to experience joy that's inviolable, to exist without others inflicting pain on me because of how I exist and to have eternal peace of mind.
And if there's no afterlife, that's ok to; at least all pain will cease and the world will never hurt me again.
No matter what the outcome, I'm just ready to die.

Disclaimer: This will Not Involve all bad isekai tropes, these tropes are not present in all and sometimes even most isekai, these are not tropes that are not all always bad but are often bad when they are used.

• Complacency one of the most common ones also probably the least complained about on this lists also is a big issue with other tropes because they often involve complacency but on a more specific subject. Simply Most Isekai worlds are fucked up morally and not how the modern world is fucked up morally like the us is worse than 99% percent of fictional evil empires but most people don't realize that or are know it and don't care, But isekai worlds are bad in ways that are obvious to a modern human especially one from a country like Japan that is relatively well off were these protagonists are from. Counter Arguments i know some people will use the fact that change would cause bloodshed, war, and strife, and it will but so do these terrible systems war and bloodshed is a necessary part of societies progression. Now for time where's its okay and simply these are only if the characters moral compass meaning someone whose evil or doesn't care at all i was gonna mention people that are like stop imperialism by voting but their just idiots at least some of them are actually trying to make the world better.
• Slavery This is actually complained about a lot but their are a some things people get wrong so the basic thing against slavery is that the main character buys slaves and keeps them for his own instead of fighting against slavery as a system, fighting to free the specific slaves he comes across, just buying all the slaves and freeing them, or at least fucking freeing the specific slaves he buys. Counter Arguments. the first counter argument is that slavery was common in the time and thats not true most isekai take aspects from multiple time periods mostly the middle ages specifically the high and late middles ages mostly the late. Simply slavery was not common during that time period at least in western Europe where most isekai are inspired by. their was serfdom but not much slavery. The times where slavery was around was before the fall of the roman empire and after the slave trade to the late nineteenth century so if theirs an isekai during that period that's an okay argument. Note: I'm not against mixing time periods just don't use historicity as an argument. The Next counter argument is they would face discrimination if freed, and be roped into pseudo slavery for the discrimination yeah but they would also well left in bonds. As for pseudo slavery yeah but that's not 100% the case plus they can still stay as the protagonist's party member either for gratitude or because they know about the pseudo slavery and think its the best option. Scenarios where its good i think their is no good scenario for this unless its just an evil protagonist or at least cast as the wrong thing to do.
• Nobility This Is For when theirs a strict system of nobility and hierarchy this is really bad because its exploitive and bloodline doesn't affect the ability to rule a country and its when its cast in a good light and you just need to get rid of the bad nobles or when its shown to be bad but nothings done about it. Counter Arguments. Historicity yeah but a character with modern world views should still dislike it. the others are mostly monarchist arguments if theirs a case with royality with a special gift for magic or combat then some argument's claiming they should rule because their superior but that doesn't make sense strength doesn't effect how good of a leader you are. case where its okay theirs if the characters moral compass means they should be okay with it as well as using a parliamentary monarchy but that only makes it less bad.
• Legality Guards Almost never arrive and when they do their to late or ineffective i know the medieval period didn't have a complex code of law but stuff like murder, assault and battery, and worst of all tax evasion are punished even if certain things turned a blind eye to because of prejudice or bribery a fight in the middle of the town square for example should have guards crawling over it even if its not some demon or monster but just humans fighting should be a big deal. Counter Arguments. Narrative yeah but just because the narrative requires it you shouldn't just ignore common sense give a reason or change the setting in a way that still achieves the reason its in a public place with tons of guards if it needs to be seen by everyone use broadcast magic or say most of the guards are away fighting an army or monster or say theirs a magic barrier.

P.s Some of these arent just in isekai or even anime but their still common in isekai so i mentioned them anyways

I’m 24 (M) 25 in October… and I’m a bit behind in life. I still live at home… Rent free… And I’m blessed at my grandparents let me live here rent free and I’m very thankful for that… however the only reason they let me do that is because they know I can’t afford it like that… I would rather be financially able to be independent. I should’ve had my own crib by now… I also don’t have a car and I should’ve had that by now…
I’m also inexperienced in dating… never made it out of the talking stage with a woman… I’ve never been on a date… I’ve never been kissed… I’m a virgin… just overall really inexperienced. I often get rejected by the types of women I desire of my preferred standards both online in person… I don’t have game. Half of the time I don’t even get followed back on Instagram.
Also I unfortunately had to quit my job today yet again… because of some false accusations they were accusing me of so I wasn’t having it and in the heat of the moment… I quit on them.
So I’m on the search for a new job… hopefully, I’ll get one soon… I want to career and graphic design, but there’s not a lot to offer for that in my small town… I plan to relocate to a new city and start over… but right now I have no car… and I’m currently saving for one. I’m looking for a decent used car with working AC and good for road travel. I’m gonna have to save at least 10K for the car… I was originally planning on under 5K… but car prices (even for used cars) are going up like crazy… then I need to save at least 15K to relocate to a new city. You need 3X your monthly rent and the cost of a U-Haul. It’s expensive… plus I need to have a job/ career lined up in my new city… preferably a graphic design job. (I’m not going back to school… I believe it’s very doable without a degree and know plenty that landed a career in that field without it)…
Also I send way too much time… WAY TOO MUCH TIME sitting in my bedroom… there’s just not a lot to do in my small town… and I don’t have a car to drive to other big cities and do things. Also a lot of my friends are either always hanging out with people I don’t get along with, or busy with their own things. I have friends but again… a lot of them either busy or live outside of here. I spend far more time in my bedroom than I’d ever care to admit… my life is WAY TOO SHELTERED.
But yeah, I’m really tired of being here in life right now… I have friends younger than me that are married and have kids…. One of my friends (he’s 22) just graduated from university and he’s about to play professional basketball,…. This one girl that I use to be cool with a few years back (she’s 23) also just graduated university as well and is about to get an amazing career… (proud of her)… and one of my childhood friends (my age, 24) just had a daughter… he graduated from university back in 2021 and he bought his own house like 2 years ago now. I also have friends that own their own clothing lines and businesses and own their own custom shoe business, etc.
Don’t get me wrong I’m very happy for them… I’m not bitter… I’m proud of them… they earned it and they worked for it… but it makes me look at my own situation like I’m a fool… I know they say don’t compare yourself to others that comparison is the thief of joy or whatever… the truth be told… that’s all I can do… I remember 2018/2019 when I was on the same level as them… and back then I thought I’d accomplish a bit more than what have… fast forward.. and I’ve only accomplished a little bit… I’m like 2-3 steps ahead of where I was back in 2018-2019… and they’re like 2-3 whole entire flights of stairs above where they were…
Also not just in terms of their career… but really in terms of grown as a whole… they’ve grown in terms of confidence,… their social skills have improved quite a bit… knowledge,… They’ve been able to travel a lot more… they’ve really grown a lot as people and I’m so proud of them… like I said back in 2018-2019 I was on the same level as them (and many other of my friends… or maybe even back then I was a few steps below)… they’ve gotten probably.. 70% better in terms of grown… I’ve only gotten like 10% better! I have so much to work on in terms of confidence,… public speaking,… social skills,.. fitness, etc.
I’m not looking for validation… please be honest with me… is it pathetic that I’m here right now?…. What’s the fastest way I can work my way out of this and fix all these things?

I’ve recently shifted from one female dominated workplace to another. In the former I was managing women aged 17-26, who I as a millennial obviously condescended to in secret because they were annoying and immature as hell. Only to go work in a new office with women in their 50s.
Today I mentioned I prefer bottled water to tap (sue me) and two of my new older coworkers smiled at each other, making offhand comments about how back in their day they used to drink out of a hose. Damn ok, you’ve both humbled me and made me reconsider if I had sounded that way to my former Gen Z employees.
I’ve noticed this before though, women in their 40s+ snickering amongst themselves about generational differences that make them feel superior either with their work skills or something else. But I guess it’s no different from myself and my other millennial coworker at my last job complaining about the 20 year olds and their drama/lack of work ethic. What is this for us, a self esteem thing or a bonding thing? I doubt men do something similar.
I feel simultaneously too old and too young to relate to anyone. What ever happened to looking down on someone for their politics, or their poor life choices, or their clothes? I have a dream that one day, I will be judged by the color of my skin and not by my age

We've tried foods we didn't even know existed, visited new cities and got lost, lounged in tropical beaches, pretended to be students in hopes of avoiding being ripped off, dealt with monkey bites and the dark cloud of potential rabies, and generally had a lot of fun. I treasure those memories.
When we met a decade ago she was adamantly child-free and didn't ever want to get married. At her wedding last year I commented she might yet change her mind about children, just as she had about marriage. When she gave me the news today one of the first things out of her mouth was "you totally called it at the wedding."
I have no desire to be a mother, and with my mental and emotional baggage I don't think I'd make a good one anyway. I don't particularly like children either, regardless of their age, but I put on a fake smile and go through the motions for my friends' sake.
Making friends has never come easy to me, so I cherish the few I do have. I am happy for her, just as I've been happy for all my friends who've become parents. But I'm also a little sad that our plans for this year that I'd so been looking forward to - to finally go see that play and to do that tour we've been talking about for ages and to go on a girls weekend getaway with a couple more friends - have gone down the drain just like that. And I'm also a little sad that there won't be a chance to do any of that with her for several years. And I'm also a little sad that our friendship is irrevocably changed and not for the better, even though I should be used to it by now.
Anyway, just needed to get this off my chest.
