2024.05.16 03:44 True_Enthusiasm3261 I am unlovable and I’m in denial about it

I’m 21 years old and it feels like I have my whole life ahead of me to find love and to be desired but I don’t really think so.
I know it’s many many people’s biggest fear to look like me or be with me. I see it in the way my female friends act and other women around me. They panic if they eat slightly more than they should, say they can’t eat the last piece of food on their plate because it scares them that it would make them fat and they constantly ask for reassurance (including from me) if they look fat (they are a size 4 at most). And even male friends, I see the disgust when someone even assumes we are together, the vitriol I heard from them about people like Lizzo. I had to cut a male friend off because he would go on rants unprompted about how he could never be with someone like me and how I am so disgusting and the only reason I’ve ever been on dates or been with anyone is because I have boobs and that’s my only good quality. Don’t get me started on the racism and colourism + the misogyny on top of the fatphobia. If I had a dollar for every time a random person or “friend” but black, specifically dark skin women at the bottom of their presence list or not even on the list at all, I would be rich enough to get all the surgeries the kardashains got to make them look like black women.
I I know people would rather die than have me or be me but it’s not a productive thought so I don’t think about it. I wear whatever I want and act like I’m hot hoping I’d actually feel that way. I’m out there and blunt but deep down inside I just hope I’m loud enough so they don’t think too hard and notice my flaws.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had people desire me but it’s all meaningless. Short term flings meant to satisfy short term desires which I was ok with. But my longest relationship is 2 months and it only lasted that long because I was waiting for feelings to grow on my end but it never did. It always felt like a slap on the face whenever I would meet a guy who liked me for who I am and I just couldn’t like him back, no matter how much time I spent with him or how I tried.
Could I lose weight and look “better”? Yes, but I want someone who wants me for me not just because I’m skinny and look more palatable. Plus it would prove all the negative things I think about myself. Maybe if I’ve never experienced love and affection before I wouldn’t complain but I have the most amazing female friends it makes me cry because it means it is possible to be appreciated as I am now.
Just wanted to vent and I know this isn’t original. But I feel differently because I don’t hate myself, I just hate how I’m perceived. And people make me feel bad for not hating myself and it’s a cycle I think.

2024.05.16 03:37 bebingfghfghfg How a skinny 15 year old can gain muscle mass?

Hey guys, I’ve been lurking around here for a while, but I finally decided to make a post because I need some advice. So, I’m a pretty skinny 15-year-old dude, and I’m tired of feeling like a stick. I want to bulk up and gain some muscle mass, but I have no idea where to start. I see all these jacked guys at the gym and wonder how the heck they got there.
I’ve read a bunch of stuff online about lifting weights and eating more protein, but it all feels kinda overwhelming. Like, how much protein do I actually need? And what exercises should I even be doing?
Plus, there’s the whole issue of being a teenager and not wanting to mess up my growth or something. Are there any precautions I should be taking or things I should avoid?
If any of you have been in the same boat or have any advice for a newbie like me, I’d really appreciate it. I’m ready to put in the work, I just need some guidance on where to start. Thanks in advance, y’all!

2024.05.16 03:31 AQuietBorderline Is Anyone Else Not Excited With The Wicked Trailer Drop?

I’m a huge fan of Wicked since my late high school years (saw the stage show twice) and was super excited when it was announced to be made into a movie.
That was until the Ariana Grande scandal happened. I’ve had my own experiences with cheating so I chose not to go see the movie because of that. I don’t support home wreckers.
And based on what I saw of the first trailer? I’m glad I made that decision. The colors look so muted and dull and everything is so obviously CGI that I rolled my eyes.
This is Oz! Land of adventure, magic, wonder and excitement! Granted, the musical shines light on the dark underbelly and deals with themes of corruption, racism and the effects of scapegoating. However, even the stage production still retains an eye popping and crisp color palette.
My grandma told me stories of being a little girl and clapping when she first saw the scene where Dorothy opens the door to see the vibrant and colorful Munchkin City.
Can we…have that back please?

2024.05.16 03:30 ElementalZone 21 [M4A] US/Online, a bit clingy but I’m cool!

Hey, I’m Zone! I’m just looking for a relationship or just friends in general, so whatever works really.
I like playing video games, I have a pretty decent sized library on steam, I play games like tboi, payday 2, fv:nv, and a few other games.
I like listening to music, my favorite genres are rock and metal, my two favorite bands are the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters.
I do watch anime a little but it’s not very often, I recently watched jujutsu kaisen’s 2nd season, and I’m still on bleach, but still need to get around to finishing it.
Physically I’m 5’9-5’10, around 150 pounds so yes I am skinny. I have brown hair and eyes.
But yeah, my age range is 18-25 at most probably, I have no idea how comfortable I’d be with talking with anyone older really so yeah.
Feel free to message if you’d like, I can give my discord if that also works, because I’m more active there mostly.

2024.05.16 03:28 BAU3R_ EspTiger Tang Dao Round Up

EspTiger Tang Dao Round Up
I have been using the Logitech GPX V2 (stock skates) at 4k hz and 1600 dpi and the Razer Viper V3 at 8k hz and 1600 dpi, both with a sleeve. I mainly play Counter Strike 2 (~8k hrs, ESEA Main XP, etc) and aim trainers (Kovaaks or Oblivity). I have experience with most EspTiger mousepads and some older mouse pads from the likes of Zowie, Logitech, Razer, SteelSeries, Xtrfy, Artisan, and one or two others. I have been using the combination of the Shan Hai Poron, X, and SR versions of the Tang Dao for several weeks each. These mousepads were provided at no cost to myself, but this does not affect my conclusions on the products. Images of the mouse pads will be at the end.

Product Specifications:

Tang Dao SR:
• $34.99 USD
• Fabric: Blended composite flat woven fiber
• Base adhesive: New version of SCR
• Thickness: 4mm
• Size: 480*400mm
• Curling: Can be rolled up, but cannot be rolled in reverse
Tang Dao X:
• $39.99 USD
• Fabric: Blended composite flat woven fiber
• Base adhesive: New version of SCR
• Thickness: 6mm
• Size: 480*400mm
• Curling: Can be rolled up, but cannot be rolled in reverse
Tang Dao Poron:
• $44.99 USD
• Fabric: Blended Composite Flat Woven Fiber
• Base Material: Inoue PORON
• Thickness: 4mm
• Size: 480mm*400mm
• Flexibility: Can be rolled, but cannot be rolled in reverse
Ranking of Bottom Material Softness:
The softness of the Tang Dao from the Shan Hai Series falls between "soft" and "ultra-soft."
The softness of the Tang Dao X is "soft."
The softness of the Tang Dao SR falls between "soft" and "hard."
Furthermore, all of these ship flat.

Tang Dao SR:

The surface seems quicker than a tang doa and with slightly less control. The bottom sticks not as well as a poron base but better than some of the original PU bases from EspTiger. The logo is raised on the surface of the mousepad and slightly reduces the usable space of the pad. I get around this by just placing the logo in the corner of my desk that I flick to or use the least. So it is not a big deal at the end of the day. The stitched edges are below the surface and are tight with no lack of quality. During my time using the base, it never stuck or peeled off the desk like a poron base would. Due to the PU base, has the least amount of give of the three variations. In turn, if you are heavy-handed with your mouse you would notice the least amount of difference with this pad. That also means if you like to put extra pressure on your mouse to help stop flicks or similar you would be better off with the X or Poron models.

Tang Dao X:

The X is a much thicker pad at 6mm. The difference is sounds small but it is the first thing I noticed taking it out of the box. The thickness would make the mousepad great for inconsistent surfaces or if you had to place the pad across some desk gap. The logo is raised yet again, but I still found it to be a non-issue at the end of the day by placing the corner with the logo in an area I do not use much. The weave and glide qualities seem to be the same as the SR as well. Unlike the SR, the X variant sticks to the desk a lot more and does not move once the slightest downward pressure is applied. The pad is a medium stiffness as your finer can push quite easily but with a mouse there is only slight give. I do not use extra pressure to help stop the mouse but that seems easily possible with this surface.

Tang Dao Poron:

This is the version of the Tang Dao I have the most time with. In a direct side-by-side comparison, this version seems to be the slowest of the 3, but I think that is due to being a bit more dirty because of more use. The logo is also raised, but the same comments apply. I think this pad has the most give to it, but because it is 4mm vs 6mm it can sometimes feel stiffer than the X because the surface it is on affects it more. In other words, the pad is thinner, and the surface it is on affects it more. The Poron base sticks to any desk I’ve had it on incredibly well, to the point it peels off after some time on the desk. The same comments on the stitching apply here as well.

Conclusions:

Overall, the Tang Dao mouse pads are super high quality. The Tang Dao surface has a bit more glide and less control than an Artisan Zero but not quite like an Otsu. The pad is inoffensive and does not hinder micro-adjustments, except for maybe with slower skates. It is another one of the classic high-quality control-oriented mousepads that have been coming out over the past several years. I don’t think anyone would find this mousepad unusable and it is a super safe option to try.
The SR is the cheapest of the three models and provides you with all of the qualities you need in a mouse pad unless you like to use extra pressure on your mouse for more control. The only thing the SR lacks is a stickier base, granted this was never an issue during use. The X excels in situations where your desk might have an uneven surface or you want a thicker mouse pad to press into for control, granted the poron model can do this as well. The X model is also the middle price point and provides more of a medium to soft base. The poron model is the most costly, but in my opinion, is the most unique pad of the three due to the poron base. The poron base seems to add a lot to the mouse pad. It gives you the option of pressing into the surface but because the pad is 4mm thick, the softness of the base is not a hindrance either, and allows the mouse pad to stick to the desk in a freakish well manner. I suppose it has the most character out of the three in my opinion, but the X is a close second. I think I enjoyed the SR the least because it moved around more easily on my desk and the stiffer base did not seem to add anything positive to my experience with the mouse pad. However, if price is an is of concern it still offers just about the same experience as the poron model. The X model was a great middle ground and the thickness of the mousepad is great if you need it for one of the mentioned situations. I could easily see having a poron model and an X model if you travel to LANS in case the LAN setups do not have perfect spacing or level desks.
If you have any further questions about the three models I would love to help answer them!

2024.05.16 03:24 DemiRomPanBoi17 My neighbor is starving his dog and the local animal control won't take her. Is there anything I can do.

TRIGGER WARNING; animal abuse. I'm in Canada Ontario in the Niagara region
My neighbor has a pitbull that he has been starving over the years. She is skin and bones. She's also very sick, itches a lot. I live on welfare and I believe my neighbor simply doesn't have the money to buy food for him or his dog as he's also very skinny. The other day I saw animal control outside with him and the dog and they walked away from her. Besides him starving her, I have seen him kick her on multiple occasions to stop her from scratching. It's really hard to watch this dog suffer a slow death. I really want to do something for this dog as I hate that she is suffering, is there anything I can do?

2024.05.16 03:24 First-Ad-2675 Got a baby leo (questions)

Hi, today I got my first leopard gecko. I was planning to get a rescue (ig) from a teacher who no longer wanted her (I have been taking care of her during breaks for the past 2 years), she told me last week that she changed her mind last minute but I’ve put over 6 months on diy-ing her enclosure along with well over $1,000 in supplies etc. so I decided I’d just get my own. It was from a pet store, ik bad, I wasn’t expecting to get a baby so I just want to make sure everything’s right. (I actually think it’s a juvenile maybe 4 months they wouldn’t give an answer but they had it for like 2-3 months)
Btw, I think it’s a boy but I’m not sure, I haven’t really looked well because I’m trying to handle it
Some of my main questions: - if I’m doing anything severely wrong tell me - how old do you think it is? - is its weight a huge concern (I weighed it at .5 oz or 14.2 grams, there was a slightly older Leo in there with him so I don’t think it’s illness related) - any health concerns (I didn’t see any, eyes, nose, and mouth are clear, don’t look too skinny and is pretty active) Suggests for when to move to upgraded tank (Terra Sahara substrate) - any ideas on possible look/ morph (I think it may be an albino?) - any improvement suggestions
For its temporary enclosure - 16 qt tub with meat top - paper towel bottom - Small water bowl - moist hide - second hide - slate (cleaned and baked) for basking - deep heat projector - Arcadia 7% shade dweller (comes in tomorrow, I just used a led today)
Also good news he ate 8 mealworms today!
Permanent set up (for the next year, & still working on but almost done) - 20g long -terra Sahara substrate -everything in last one -diy background and hides - natural wood and stones (all treated)
I’ll answer any questions too (also how do you add pictures?

2024.05.16 03:21 Yepheditit Would u get surgery?

Would u get surgery?
Been dealing with this over 2 years. Had to quit smoking due to my ddd which would flare me to hell! L5s1 can’t sit for more than ten minutes without having to get up with severe back pain that causes me to stay hunched over when I stand up. 6 surgeons say I need a microdisectomy but I’m scared! I sit at work bc I drive all day but I’m sick of the back pain and thigh pain..I also have light foot numbness which scares me. Pretty active skinny guy. I dea with the pain everyday but it’s getting to point I can barely sit in my truck at work. I have to keep sitting on leg to take some weight off.. Will I be able to sit okay after this procedure? I really love my job and I would hate to do surgery and not be able to sit long after 3 months of rest.

2024.05.16 03:19 CosmicHero22 Injury Management

I’ve seen quite a few posts discussing this given the spate of injuries we have had over the past 3-4 years.
A lot are blaming Russell, but I can’t help but feel many of the players who can’t get on the park, or miss extended periods in the season, had prior injury issues prior to their recruitment - Williams, Martin, Marchbank, McGovern as some prime examples.
Docherty sustained an ACL injury, which he’d done a couple of times over the course of his career.
Others haven’t had the same injury issues and we can put down to bad luck eg Saad.
I think his injury management has been poor at times. We were routinely rolling out unfit players in 2021. Cripps and Martin were the biggest examples, with Cripps playing through a broken back. In 2022 we brought midfielders back in the season before they were ready or played them when it was clear they needed to miss games - Walsh and Hewett.
It’s a tough balance, figuring out which players are healthy/recovered enough to take the field. There would be few players running out without some niggle, and when you’re trying to win games of footy the temptation to green light a player is too high. In 2022 we didn’t have a lot of depth so rolling out our stars before they are at 100% to save the season made complete sense.
I’ve heard Russell speak about injury management at Hawthorn and he seemingly took a more nuanced, pragmatic approach - holding players back for extended periods, making sure they are cherry ripe for finals. He also clearly rolled the dice on some players who were injured eg Rioli in the 2015.
I’m wondering whether it’s his methodology, if our list contains too many players susceptible to injury, a bit of bad luck, or a combination of factors.
I personally struggle to lay too much blame if the same 4-5 players are repeatedly injured, and we take an ultra conservative approach with the remainder of the squad.

2024.05.16 03:14 acidwxrld im losing hope for my future

for starters i will say that im 18 and just recently graduated high school, still living w my parents. i think college will be a must at some point but i literally have no idea what i can see myself doing. i work at starbucks currently but the pay isnt that great and im getting kinda burnt out. i dont fit corporate standards in terms of appearance (facial piercings, messy hair, etc). i dont think i would do good in a physical labor type job (skinny, weak, hate physical activity). i want to be able to live comfortably on my own but i dont know how ill ever get to that point. are there any good majors that are kinda general and/or can prepare u for a lot of different careers? i ideally only want to do up to 4 years of school. im wanting to be WFH but understand that may not be that possible. feel free to ask questions regarding interests and stuff!

2024.05.16 03:13 k_k_z Books

This may be a dumb question, but can I read 2 books at the same time? This has been my favorite part of the challenge and I’m gobbling up the pages faster than I imagined. I’m on day 9 and I’ve read 2 books so far. (Ultra processed people was my fav….highly recommend). Can I have one book at home and one at work? obviously finishing them is not an issue. My outdoor activity is walking to work because it’s a 45 min walk so obviously the less shit i have to put in my backpack the better. Would be nice to have one at both places since I’m reading so much. Thoughts?

2024.05.16 03:11 usernameshnoozername Long-Term Advice Wanted

Hey all! I'm 13 months out, have still been losing 1-2 lbs a week with some stalls here and there, and have gone from 246 to 150. I was a bit more active doing yoga/walking but have dropped off some in the last few months due to overtime at work.I feel bad when I think that maybe I should work out more, and can do a 20-30 mile bike ride (flat, electric bike) and feel good but a bit beat up a couple of days afterwards.
I'm pretty happy with where I am at, eat mostly pretty well but not getting 1000 calories in most days, there isn't a lot of room for it. I always put protein first, take my supplements, and try to drink at least 40 oz of water a day. I don't overeat but I do like to have a bit of chocolate in the evening.
For those of you who are 2-3 years post op or more, what were your lessons learned? Any big alarm bells for where I'm at today?

2024.05.16 03:09 95PureFire I am struggling.

Hello everyone!
I am a 24 YO male who has had issues with sobriety for the last 5 to 6 years, and am looking for some advice.
This line is for my sister, who encouraged me to post somewhere. Hello Louise (your middle name), I am here.
I wasn't always a drinker. I was very "ew" towards it growing up. I wasn't a pothead or a smoker in my teens, I was actually very against that. I thought cigarettes were nasty smelling and probably tasted as gross as the smelled (they do) and I have seen alcohol was the worst thing in someone's life. My dad was a very violent and abusive alcoholic/addict and it was told to me and my siblings our whole life.
My personal first encounter with a drug (weed) was in high school. I was 18 at the time, and I had always heard it was great, it wasn't that bad, its a gateway drug, the usual. I don't remember the exact day, but i remember the whole experience. It was personally awesome (NOT PROMOTING THE ACT OF SMOKING WEED I NO LONGER DO IT), and I smoked till I was 21, almost daily.
After I was 21, I had a trip to Oregon to get some weed (Its illegal where I live) with my brother, who was under age to buy some. He drove us, and I got 10 grams of cartages for the both of us. As we were driving back, we got pulled over and, long story short, they took the 10 grams of weed and left us with a warning. After this experience, I have never smoked weed since, but I was so used to being under the influence and couldn't sleep without being high or whatever, and went to alcohol. This is where it got really bad,
I drank about 5 beers a day. "That's not a lot, that' some weak stuff!" I drank 4 12 oz 12% cans and a 24 oz 8% can a day. Sometimes even twice a day, and those 12% cans TASTED AWFUL! Sometimes I would do this 2-3 times a day when I didn't work, and then once a day after work too, leading to doing this about 11 times a week just to sleep. After 7 months of doing this, I couldn't take it anymore. I was getting ill, I was feeling like crap, and my kidneys WERE LITERALLY VIBRATING! I needed help. I asked my roommate at the time for some advice, and we came up with some outpatient treatment. I called and we set it up, and I was super confused on why they kept telling me about beds and a room, till I was told at the end of the call it was inpatient. I agreed because I figured it was better than outpatient. On June 9 2022, I was admitted to my inpatient program. I have a journal for that experience, but I loved it there. I had such a good time, I loved everyone I met, and I graduated 28 days later.
After inpatient, I really didn't want to go outpatient, but was encouraged to. I hated it. I was there for about 2 months before I left. I wanted to try drinking again now that I wasn't relying on it for sleep. It was then that I realized I was an addict and I needed help, but I was unsure where I could go. I hated going to AA, I felt like a disappointment to my family, and I was having a hard time at work (not because of drinking again). I was falling apart, and I have been since. My roommate has moved out, and now I live alone. I am doing this shitty lifestyle and I can barely afford it, yet sometimes I need it. My insurance covered most of the inpatient bills, and all of the outpatient bills, and although my work has been super supportive of me and my "recovery", I don't have the heart to tell them I am a fucking loser who messed up just to end up fired.
I have been having some super strange withdrawals since I started drinking again in late 2022. The most memorable are inability to sleep, and something I looked up and discovered called a "Brain Zaps". I first had these a little before I turned 24, and before I stopped messing with hard alcohol. I've never had a seizure, but this feeling is ABSOLUTLY TERRIFYING when trying to sleep (the only time I get it). All would say my birthday in 2022 was my relapse, but I would disagree (on a personal level, not logical). I used it to sleep, and I was able to stop at least 1-2 weeks since. This next part was my version of a relapse,
See, I started drinking when thought I needed it to sleep. I needed to be intoxicated to get rest, and now that I no longer needed it (and if I did it always took 1-3 days of restless nights to get over), I drank to not be bored, to have more fun playing games, because I was alone. I was about a week sober by December 23rd 2023, and I was asked at work if I am stalking someone. I was shocked and confused, and I took that to heart. That night lit the fire, that night started the engine, that night brought it back. I wont get too much into myself, but trust me when I say I would never do that. I was mentally destroyed. Why was I being asked this, What did I do to deserve this? What the actual fuck?
I drank for over a month straight. I do not fuck with hard liquor anymore, it was just my 5 8% tall boys. or more, a day. I fell into a massive depression. Again not getting into it, but it ended up resolving, but I wasn't okay. I was never going to be working with the same person I was accused of doing suck a DISGUSTING action against, I had to leave the store (and I have just this week [of 5-15-24])
I have talked to my mom, and my sister, and I am not sure what else to do. I know i NEED to get out of my comfort zone and just do what I dont want to, but I know FOR A FACT AA is NOT FOR ME. I cant do it, I cannot handle sitting there and grasp the idea that nothing other than god can save me. I am an athiest, I do not believe in that stuff. I have been told your Higher Power can be a door knob, but I cant grasp that idea. Its not me. the 12 steps are not for me, and I know this for a fact. Maybe there's a chance I could be wrong, but I don't think so regarding this.
I am asking for some help. I don't know what to do beside just let it take my life before I take my own. I am not my dad, I am a nice and functional alcoholic, but I don't want to drink so much. At this point, I have seriously been thinking about suicide, just to stop myself being a menace to myself. I have asked for money to help with bills, but never for a high. I would rather suffer though withdrawals than ask for money for beealcohol, I am a nice (I think) guy who has issues.
I should include a TLDR, but I really don't know how to with this.
thank you for reading

I just got my s24 ultra about 2 days ago after like 7 years of researching phones and always wanting the best one. Finally getting it my most hyped feature by far was the anti glare screen.
When I tested it out, I could tell it was there, but it was not significant enough for me to immediately be like "WOW". I could read text in bright sun, but I couldn't read it well enough I could say for sure that it was a significant upgrade like the reviews were making it seem.
Then I found out about the extra dim feature, and was curious to try it out only to find out it was already on. Turning it off I immediately noticed a shift in the way the screen was being displayed and went to try it out outside to see if it made a difference.
It did.
I even tried the extra brightness feature and it makes it even better. Keep in mind, at least to my eyes, neither of these features just make the screen brighter or darker. It seems to change the way the screen is displayed. Almost like 3 brightness settings you can then further adjust with the slider. Turning up the brightness all the way on extra dim is still harder for me to see in the sun than half brightness on regular. It's weird but I don't know how else to explain it.
Bottom line, if you think this feature isn't good enough, try turning off extra dim. If it's still not enough turn on extra bright. You should see an extremely noticeable difference.

2024.05.16 03:06 nom_puppet Diagnosis Despair

So without going into too much detail and specifics I’d love to get anyone’s thoughts on what I should do … long story short I have been suffering with a medical issue for almost a full year. In the last 11 months I have been bounced around several medical professionals until finally receiving the results of a biopsy and a pretty emphatic diagnosis (on paper from the lab).
This led me being referred to a wizard of oz level specialist who I was lucky enough to see after only 2 months of waiting. However he’s skeptical of the biopsy findings and wants to do a million more tests, MRI’s etc. rather than treating the diagnosis.
I don’t know what to do and honestly am pretty financially broken by the cost over the last year… should I try to get prescribed treatment from my GP? Talk to the specialist? There’s not really another guy in this niche in the country but I really can’t face another year of expense and hunting when a disgnosis has already been reached.
Any medical folks have any insight? Oof, thanks.

2024.05.16 03:05 vodkaandclubsoda Seeking advice for daughter gaining weight

Hey all,
My 12-year-old daughter has, over the past two years, started to put on a fair amount of weight - she's probably 25-30 pounds overweight. I have a very close relationship with her, and I want to discuss it with her but not generate body image issues. I have already seen the start of such issues - being upset at someone calling her fat, etc.
I don't want her to be super skinny or anything - I just want her to be healthy and happy long term, and I'm concerned with the speed with which she is gaining weight that it will become a bigger problem.
My questions:
  1. What's the best way to discuss this with her so that I can get her on the right track but not create body image issues?
  2. Assuming that I'm successful in #1, what's the best approach to starting a program? I don't want her on the whole yo-yo dieting side.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

2024.05.16 03:05 reidinawhile should i purchase (a) Buchardt A10 or (b) Philharmonic BMR Monitors

I am new to the steroe/audiophile community and have been doing research for about 6 months now. I went to Axpona in April. While it was cool to see more systems/setups, most of the stuff there was way out of my price range. I am thinking ~$7,500 budget for a hifi setup. primiarly listening to streaming music (tidal, etc). It will be located in a decent sized room that is about 15ft x 25ft, with 8ft ceilings. I do currently have a home theater set up that is a 10yr old 5.1 SVS speaker setup with pioneer AVR in my living room. I am most likely going to buy new, but potentially looking at used market as well.
So, I think I have narrowed it down to two options, with both being around ~$6.5k to $7k total.
(a) Buchardt Audio A10 active speakers, stands, WiiM Ultra streamer (the 'hub' that is purcahsed with the A10 can do streaming, but it has limitations), and Buchard Audio Sub10 subwoofer. Since buchardt is DTC, I haven't had listend to them in person, but they have a fair return policy that can be returned if I don't like them. generally, reviews are really good. I really liking the idea a simpler set up that has more placment flexiblity in my house.
(b) Philharmonic BMR monitors, stands, Galion TS A75 power amp, Eversolo A8 preamp/streameDAC, JL Audio Dominion D110 Subwoofer. I did get a chance to hear the speakers at Axpona. They sounded really good, I believe they were paired with a rogue audio amp. Speakers look good, but I don’t think they as good as the Buchardts.
(c) wild card here ... replace the BMR monitors in (b) with Borresen X1. I probalby can't justify spending another $4k on top of the budget I listed, but they sounded fantastic when I've heard them a few times in person.
apprecaite the thoughts and feedback, thanks

2024.05.16 02:57 anonymous_teenguy Doggy had a seizure; vet seems pointless

my dog had a seizure for the first time today. it didn't last more than 25 seconds, she fell over and peed herself but she came back quick. after a quick Google, the Internet is telling me we should take her to the vet.
Thing is she's already old and the last time we took her to the vet, they said she could have cancer, tumors, and another thing i forgot what but no matter what, the treatment is the same. So she has daily medication for pain and being old or something (I'm a literally teenager guys don't count on me to know stuff).
meaning I doubt that a trip to vet will be useful or that they'll tell us more than that she's old. how can help my dog adjust in case it happens again and what can I do for my dog just in general?
leaving details here: Female, spaded, German shepherd and black lab mix, mostly black lab, about 12-13 years old, weighs at least 110 pounds, had surgery on a growth on her eyelid some years back, she's not a skinny baby and shes good and bumpy like a good fine aged dog. she doesn't not bite, she has never severely bitten any human in her life she's so kind. her paw pads are slippy.
