No tail lights

2024.05.14 10:55 Noyourslow No tail lights

I've been dealing with some crazy issues with my 2005 Crown Victoria, and I'm hoping for some advice. Firstly, my dash lights and climate control lights stay on even when the switch is off and the car is turned off, though they appear very dim. Strangely, they're brightest when the switch is off, and I can't adjust their brightness using the switch. Second, my tail lights aren't working. I've checked all the fuses, and they're all receiving 13 volts. I've tried replacing the switch and the lighting control module (LCM), but nothing has changed. I've even verified that there's no power reaching the tail lights. Surprisingly, my brake lights are still functioning properly. I've checked the ground connections in the trunk and by the PCM, and they seem to be in good condition. I've read that the issue might be with the instrument cluster itself, but I'm not entirely convinced. I've tried using the All Data diagrams, but they're difficult to understand. I'm really don’t do wiring , so this situation has me feeling a bit lost. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I've noticed that if I leave the car for a day or two, it starts right up without any issues. Even with the lights on

2024.05.14 10:18 Cy4nide0765 Plague Victim Medieval Origins

I'm using a modpack that includes Medieval Origins, and the starter I chose was Plague Victim. Cue dying innumerable times. Any tips or anything I can get from someone who's played around with this class, or is it just one of those "replace if you want to have fun" type of starter?

2024.05.14 10:02 unclekarl_ Uncle’s In-Depth Tristan Da Silva Scouting Report

Who is Tristan Da Silva?
Tristan Da Silva is a 6'9" tweener forward coming off a standout senior year at Colorado. Known for his versatile offensive skills akin to Kyle Kuzma, Tristan is this year's "Most Likely to Be Jaime Jaquez Jr." winner. He's set to immediately contribute as a valuable role player in the NBA.
Da Silva is intelligent, adaptable, and performs well both on and off the ball. His ability to thrive as a #3 or #4 scoring option—spotting up from three, attacking closeouts, and exploiting mismatches—makes him a potent offensive threat. Yet, questions linger about his transition to the NBA due to his athletic, strength, and length limitations. In college he was a solid defender but due to his physical limitations his defense is a big question mark for me.
NBA Fit:
I'm all in on players who bring versatility and a high basketball IQ to the table. Da Silva fits this mold perfectly as a high-floor, low-ceiling prospect likely to excel as either a starter or a key bench player, depending on the team's needs. Ideally, he should be paired with a strong, versatile forward or a defensive anchor to compensate for his limitations.
Da Silva is on my short list of players I would love for the Raptors to draft at #19. His fit next to Scottie and Co. is arguably the best out of the available prospects when we will be selecting. Furthermore, Da Silva is ready to contribute today and fits the BBQ timeline. If he can become the high end role player that I think he can be he would be a perfect forward to pair with Scottie.
Strengths:
  • Versatile offensive player
  • Smart player
  • Makes good cuts
  • Uses his size on mismatches
  • Has some 3-level scoring potential with step back middys off the dribble
  • Has a little back to the basket game with short hooks when guarded by smaller defenders
  • Not afraid to shoot the ball
  • Capable of creating his own offense
  • He was the guy at Colorado
  • Is a smart and willing passer
  • Has a nice turnaround jumper
  • Shows ability to create offense off of screens
  • Good shooter
  • Knows how to get open with off ball movement
  • Has projectable NBA role as a versatile scoring forward able to play off ball and provide on ball creation in a pinch.
  • Can go coast-to-coast off rebounds
  • Not afraid to take big shots
  • Good hands on defense
  • Smart team defender
  • Has a high motor on defense. Willing to do the little things.
  • Can protect the rim in a pinch as a help defender
Weaknesses:
  • Not very athletic
  • Not very long
  • Will his lack of athleticism limit his ability to create his offense
  • Needs to get stronger if he is going to be a PF/SF
  • He is the definition of a tweener. He is not athletic enough to be a wing but he is not strong enough and lacks the frame for an NBA power forward
  • Will he be able to get all the way to the hole in the NBA?
  • Seemed to struggle when guarded by larger defenders where he isn’t able to leverage his size
  • Will his defense transfer in the NBA?
  • Questions about his lateral quickness when switched onto quick wings and guards
  • Questions about his strength when asked to guard true power forwards
  • He will most likely never be a good rebounder

2024.05.14 09:11 Traditional-Abies479 first time posting, here goes!

I’m 19 this is my 1979 pontiac firebird formula I bought a while ago. I traded an 08 Ducati Hypermotard 1100s for it lol I know right but I wanted a project car so. it’s got the olds 403 that has been completely gone through (new water pump, new oil pump, new fuel pump, everything in the heads, edelbrock 71111 intake, edelbrock 750CFI carb, new starter, and a comp cam that I can get you the specs for. it’s mated to a used TH350 3 speed auto trans with roughly 50k miles with a 20200 stall converter in it.
that’s where it sits now, mechanically it’s okay ish, I recently found it had way too much slack in the timing chain so i’m replacing that tomorrow, dunno if it skipped timing, i’m told it’s a noninterference engine so just gonna assume everything is okay lol been talking to my buddy with lots of years experience building engines and we’re thinking of putting it +4° - +6° cam timing to boost up some cylinder pressure.
I know it looks like absolute sin and it sure smells like it too but I am excited for the challenge of learning to fix all those cosmetic things
i don’t know fully what my plans are for the car, i have some ideas that i’d love to share but for now i’m just kinda running with it.
love yo hear your thoughts, please be nice haha

2024.05.14 08:03 Acceptable_Prompt_73 2017 Hyundai Elantra or 2002 Lincoln Continental? Which is more reliable?

So, my grandma is currently looking at a 2017 Hyundai Elantra and a 2002 Lincoln Continental. Which is (generally) more reliable? I'm leaning towards the Lincoln, personally, but I would love to have some advice on this matter.
The car she is replacing is a 2013 Chevy Traverse (188k miles) that ate its timing chain just before the transmission could implode.
If I were to check either of these vehicles out for her, what should I look for? Thanks!
(I will update this when I know more about mileage/condition.)

2024.05.14 07:47 saoiray Questions on budget for locksport

I guess let me cut to the chase, then can explain a bit of why I'm asking below:
  1. Around how much would you say you spent in total to get all tools? (Not just starter kits, but saying everything...)
  2. Around how long do tools like picks and all last before needing to be replaced?
  3. Approximately how much do you spend each year on getting locks?
Quick story on me is I'm disabled and on a limited budget. While looking for things to do, I decided to pool together money and got the FNG kit and Learn Lockpicking bundle from Covert Instruments (which was $95.14), a very big spend for someone like me living off of $1,236/mo . Unfortunately I've mastered those locks in a short period of time. I'm definitely on the hunt for locks and will gradually get things together.
That said, I'm walking into this completely blind overall. I spent some time going through FAQ provided for this group and I have a lot more research to do. But right now I'm just working on trying to get a realistic understanding of what investments I may need to plan for here in the future. I know it will be a small grind over many years and I'm not rushing. I'm also aware numbers will vary greatly from person to person. But if you can help by sharing a bit on ballpark costs, it might help me on trying to be realistic on what I'll need to work toward and possibly what to add to wish lists for holidays and all.
NOTE:
As I'm posting this, I want to make things abundantly clear that I only have explained my situation (perhaps too much info, but I'm weird that way) so all of you might better understand the purpose of my questions and what information I'm seeking. I'm just looking for information. I am not seeking nor will I accept anything from anyone here except for any advice you might have. Thanks!

2024.05.14 07:47 Habitat917 Color to bridge red & silver and navy & gold

Just replaced my table. I like the warmer vibe of the honey oak for my dining room and am planning on keeping the chairs to match the floor and ceiling fan. However, I'd like to replace the curtains. I'd also like to change the color of the seats of the chairs. I drew a small diagram of how the the dining room is a corner between the kitchen and the living room. Kitchen has black cabinets, white appliances, fake light wood counters, with red, silver, and black accents (from sink and kitchen appliances stored above the cabinets). Living room has dark blue and light gold decor to go with its neutrals. What curtains (and possibly other small budget tweaks) can I choose to bridge the kitchen and living room, while maintaining an inviting dining room space?

2024.05.14 07:28 pam_the_dude Soon to be beginner with a few clubs already, whats missing?

I'm looking into some advice for which clubs are missing in my bag.
I already tried to get into golf some 10-ish years ago, when I started university. I tried it together with a few friends. Budged was tight though and my friends lost interest after a few months.
I want to get back into it though and I'm planning to start making my golf course license in a few weeks. I'm also looking for an affordable club to join right now that isn't too far away.
During the time back then I was able to buy some clubs and a bag relatively cheap. I still have those Nike Slingshot OSS. A few are still at my parents house, but I think they go from 5-9 iron, P, A and S wedge. I also replaced the S wedge with a better one and got putter. I also stumbled on a, somewhat, good deal for a Rouge Max ST Driver the other day and bought it.
What do you think is still missing? Is a fairway or hybrid worth looking into as a starter?

2024.05.14 07:20 HourEconomics3504 Dont know what to do

Dont know what to do
Long story…. Anyways I bought this awesome truck about 2 years ago, used from a local dealership, got an awesome deal and was loving it. It’s a 2021 RST Duramax. I live in Portland OR area, and some tree hugger or some homeless person, dumped some kind of liquid into my fuel tank. (Could have been gasoline or just piss, they still don’t know) Eventually the injectors started ticking and the dash said that there is water in the fuel system. I contacted my insurance and explained the situation and they said that it would cover it under comprehensive coverage as vandalism. I took it to the same chevy dealership that i bought it at, in hopes that they would know how to work on it and to MAKE SURE THAT I WOULD STILL HAVE THE WARRANTY. That was last october. First they said that draining the fuel system would do it-nope. Then they said they need to replace the high pressure fuel pump. Then it was the injectors and the rails. All of that dragged into January. Then they took forever to assemble the whole thing. And that dragged into late March early April. About mid April, they said that they got it all together and it ran for about 10 to 20 minutes and then died. From then on, I would call him about 2 to 3 times a week to see what the progress was, and whenever I was able to reach them, they said that they are working on it without any results. About a week ago I contacted my insurance adjuster and asked him if he could look into either totaling it or seeing what the other options are. After speaking to them, he told me that they will soon start working on it. Which means that every time I called them to get an update they were just lying to me. I know i could probably take it out of that shop and take it to a different place. However, that new place would have to start from scratch. Anybody have any ideas on what I should do next?

2024.05.14 07:04 SnooDoggos5646 I hate my job but can’t find the willpower to just leave

For starters, it’s a minimum wage food service job and I only make $14.25 /hr. It’s not like it’s incredibly intense or anything but I just absolutely hate this job.
My schedule is completely unpredictable, as I’m opening at 5am some days, closing at 10pm other days.
And I feel like I’m being dramatic when I say this, but often I feel we are very understaffed, and I’m stuck doing the work of what should be multiple people. I’m a cashier but I’m expected to also make drinks, clean the dining room, prep food, etc etc. And some days we have more than enough people working. But it’s the weekends that are always lacking people, which inevitably becomes our busiest days.
And the one thing that has honestly annoyed me the most is that they hired me under the pretense that Sunday would be the ONLY DAY I am completely unavailable. My availability has changed since then but I have stated several times that Sunday is the one day i do not work. And yet, I find myself constantly getting put on the schedule for Sunday. I ultimately cracked and told them if they were desperate for someone or needed a cover that they could call me or schedule me, but even then, only evenings. They ended up scheduling me for 6am on Easter Sunday, and I think that’s when I realized that they really could not give two shits about my schedule. I have worked holidays before, thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, but this was so ridiculous to me. I told them I wouldn’t be working on Easter and they had to scramble to find a cover. Verbatim, I texted that manager “I won’t be able to work this Easter, and I’d like to change my availability to not available on any Sunday” The scheduleing manager told me “you know you will HAVE to work some Sundays” and I’m so non confrontational I just agreed, but this has been an issue since I started. (Almost a year ago)
My coworkers and managers are really good, and I even told my manager that I had no plans of leaving when getting some info for my resume, but I’m so jaded with this job that I know I am not enjoyable to be around when Im there.
I know I’m replaceable and they probably won’t miss me in the long run, and I know I can get paid more working elsewhere, but idk I feel guilty for leaving after I said I wouldn’t. And I’m nervous about getting a good reference if I put in my two weeks out of the blue.
My ask for advice would really just be this:
1) is it unprofessional to leave after telling the manager I had no plans of leaving?
2) should I give my manager a heads up that I’m searching for a new job elsewhere? (I’d think not but idk)
3) am I asking too much to be taken off the schedule for Sunday when I work every other day of the week?

2024.05.14 06:21 Honded Free way of displaying text dynamically based on URL parameters on Astra template with elementor

I'm using the Astra Theme, I picked one of their starter templates and I'm editing it with Elementor. I would like to add a text to the template that says "Welcome John" where John is replaced by a parameter name that I pass in the URL, how can I do this for free? Is there a better approach to displaying a dynamic name onto a template?
Example: if the link is mywebsite.com/?name='Mike' then the text will be "Welcome Mike" just like what's shown on this video
I'm building an invitation so that's why I require each invitation to have the name of the guest. Thanks for any help!

Starting issue
154k miles 2001 330i Purchased fully aware of the problem.
No crank at the time. No lights will turn on. Dead battery.
I bought a new battery, replaced spark plugs and fuses. I cleaned/wiped the ground connections and battery terminals. Made sure they are tight and clean.
I now have a crank. It almost fires up. I attached a video. I’m thinking it’s the starter but I was told that might be the issue.
I’m not a mechanic or super experienced but I am learning as I run into things.
If anyone can help me will be great (:

2024.05.14 05:21 820crew 2005 Toyota Camry LE oil leak + bad belt tensioner

This car has been in my family since it was purchased, but not necessarily treated perfectly. Here are the specs:
2005 Toyota Camry LE
2.4 L 4-cylinder
5-speed Automatic transmission
365,000+ miles
It was in possession of a friend for a few months because I got a motorcycle. They fixed a couple things I'm not too aware of. Before they got it, I recently changed the spark plugs, coils, battery, starter, and alternator. However, it stalls sometimes and had to be towed to my parents house after my friend gave up on it. Before I got it, my dad replaced the head gasket, got the head milled, and I think some other gaskets that the kit came with. However, he's not extremely confident in the job he did, and as there is still an oil leak, it probably wasn't perfect. Unfortunately, this oil leak is getting onto the alternator which has forced me to replace it twice before realizing it. My dad also mentioned that one of the many bolts that fasten the head to the block snapped while he tightened it, so I'm not sure if that is extremely important or not.
I know that there will be other things down the road that must be fixed because it's so old and high-mileage, but my question is this: is it worth it to redo the head gasket, timing gasket, valve cover gasket, etc. and replace the belt tensioner, OR is there something deeper that I don't know that could ruin the engine? I don't know what makes an engine a loss, so I'm just checking to see if it's worth it to keep working on this, or to just give up and sell it for parts.
Thanks!

2024.05.14 05:07 EJC28 Panthers 2024 Draft Analysis Compilation

Round 1, Pick 32 - Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina:
NFL: Legette, who had a terrific final season at South Carolina, is physical and a big-time vertical threat. This addition should be a big part of Bryce Young’s development in Year 2.
CBS Sports: B+. They have to get weapons for Bryce Young, so landing him makes sense. He is a player who plays physical and runs better than you think. He’s only done it for one year.
ESPN: Coach Dave Canales said it best: Legette brings versatility. The Panthers absolutely fell in love with Legette's ability to make plays all over the field, from catching passes to jet sweeps to kick returns. That versatility at a skill position is something Bryce Young didn't have last season, so this adds a unique weapon to take pressure off the second-year quarterback. He is also big (6-foot-1, 221 pounds) and fast (4.39 40), unlike any other Carolina receiver. He's a perfect fit for what Canales wants to create with the pass and run games.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Can’t believe he is about to fulfill his dream of being picked in the 2nd round.
Round 2, Pick 46 - Jonathon Brooks, RB, Texas:
NFL: Had Brooks not suffered a torn ACL in November, he might have been a first-round pick. He's a shifty, speedy back who can hit the hole and go, and he should be Carolina's starter before long. I thought they might go center here, but Brooks makes sense for a team that lacked offensive juice.
CBS Sports: B-. Fun, three-down RB without much mileage on his legs. Can win between the tackle or on the perimeter and has feature back size. Elusive but not ridiculously in that regard. Fills a need but maybe a touch early. May not be 100% by September.
ESPN: As much as Canales has said he's excited about backs Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders, he obviously believed the running game needed an upgrade. You don't take a back in the second round unless you plan to use him, although Brooks may need time to fully recover from ACL surgery that caused him to miss the final three games last season. He's a playmaker who has a nose for the end zone (10 touchdowns on 187 carries last season), and general manager Dan Morgan said he was looking for guys who can score.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Mixes the milk and cereal in his mouth, one bite and drink at a time.
Round 3, Pick 72 - Trevin Wallace, LB, Kentucky:
NFL: A late addition to my top 100 prospects list, Wallace is a top-tier athlete who finally seemed to find his groove last season -- on special teams but especially on defense. He's capable of covering tight ends and running backs and should impact all four downs, but Wallace is young and could use a redshirt year before he's ready to be featured on defense.
CBS Sports: C. Stocky, springy off-ball LB with speed to the football but one of the least-effective block-defeaters/avoiders I’ve scouted at the position. Not around the football much in coverage but fluid zone drops and has the athleticism to run with TEs. Very good tackler. Just unique strengths/weaknesses.
ESPN: Morgan entered the draft looking for "dawg mentality'' and he got that in Wallace. "Dawg mentality means you don't care if you go hurt somebody,'' Wallace said. "You don't go in there soft. I want you to be scared of me.'' Wallace isn't necessarily a long-term replacement for 30-year-old Shaq Thompson, but his ability to cover the field side-to-side and with speed gives him the potential to do that. Give him a year or so behind Thompson and Josey Jewell and he could prove to be a Day 2 steal.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Enjoys going to the park to make faces at little kids, making them cry.
Round 4, Pick 101 - Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas:
NFL: Sanders is a fascinating athlete who remains in the developmental stage. He's not a quality blocker yet but has some untapped receiving skill. This is a worthy risk by general manager Dan Morgan and Co. as their hunt for playmakers continues.
CBS Sports: B. Big recruit who produced at Texas and is a smooth mover. Good, not amazing YAC and not a pure speed type. Minimal blocking chops. Reasonable weapon for Bryce Young but lacks burst so will have to get schemed up to get most of his catches in the NFL.
ESPN: Definitely an upgrade at a position that quarterback Young could have used some help from during his rookie season. Canales has spoken highly of Tommy Tremble, but he's not the dynamic pass-catching tight end that Sanders can become. Sanders had 99 receptions in three seasons, tops for a tight end in Texas history. He could pose problems for defenses, like Greg Olsen did during the development of quarterback Cam Newton. This was a no-brainer at this point.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Insists he can distinguish between 50 shades of beige.
Round 5, Pick 157 - Chau Smith-Wade, CB, Washington State:
NFL: Smith-Wade opened eyes with a solid week at the Senior Bowl, consistently showing up around the ball and disrupting passes. His length almost certainly makes him a nickel only on defense, but there's some potential here if CSW develops.
CBS Sports: B+. Agitating CB who played outside but will have a home in the slot in the NFL. Plays more athletically than his testing. Lightning quick feet. Because of his smaller size, he tends to opt for diving tackle attempts more than wrapping up. Speed is a concern but could be masked inside. Up for any challenge.
ESPN: A definite need for depth at a position where injuries have hurt the past few years. Smith-Wade will be a backup and special teamer at best this season. He offers speed (4.54 40) and nose for the football that GM Dan Morgan wants. He's coming off a soft-tissue injury that forced him to miss the final five games and is more of a project at this point. Nickel, where he had two interceptions in the Senior Bowl, may be his future in the NFL.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Thinks being a scrum master sounds kinda cool.
Round 6, Pick 200 - Jaden Crumedy, DT, Mississippi State:
NFL: Being 300-plus pounds and running a sub-5.0 40-yard dash gets you drafted. Crumedy doesn't have sterling production, but his maturity and experience should give him an edge in a fight for a roster spot in Carolina.
CBS Sports: C+. Older, very experienced interior rusher who won from multiple alignments in the SEC and has smooth athletic traits. Production never matched how fluid he is as an athlete and his hands. Needs to have a pass-rush plan more often. Has long stretches of invisibility. Plays hard every snap.
ESPN: This is totally a depth move. His ability to push the pocket is what Carolina will look for out of him in its 3-4 scheme. He likely won't be a threat to start, but he has the flexibility and size (6-4, 301) to play inside or out. Depth behind a solid starting three is key here.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Once put together a 50,000 piece puzzle. It was a picture of a cloud.
Round 7, Pick 240 - Michael Barrett, LB, Michigan:
NFL: Punishing hitter in a sawed-off frame. Barrett's poor length will be tough to overcome, but his forceful play style is inspiring.
CBS Sports: C+. Has a nice blend of traits - - power, burst, coverage skill - - but not always the quickest to read where the ball is going. Quicker than fast and needs to get better beating or avoiding blockers on the way to the football.
ESPN: Barrett is undersized at 5-11, 233 pounds, but he has a nose for the football and brings a physicality to the game that makes up for his lack of size. Barrett should get a chance to contribute immediately, at least on special teams.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Nursed a baby goat back to health after he hit it with a car.

2024.05.14 04:35 iblankalot1 Siding question

I’m needing my vinyl siding replaced - it’s cracked and poorly installed in some places. I pulled back a little section and it looks like they may have installed the vinyl tracks (or whatever it’s called) over wood or hardie board siding.
I got a quote for almost $9k to replace the vinyl siding, but I’m curious about whether removing the siding and refurbishing the old wood/hardie board would be more cost effective?
Additionally, the home is a split level with part brick and part vinyl. Built in 1959 in Colorado - what are the odds we have brick under all of the siding that we could uncover?

2024.05.14 04:28 Impressive-Jaguar-95 AC

2017 chevy malibu 1.5 180k miles
My ac compressor clutch is locked up, and my engine won't start. if I replace the compressor and don't refill the refrigerant, will it still attempt to compress the air in the lines? (Even if I leave the AC off?)
What are the potential damages?
Thanks :)

2024.05.14 04:05 gwh34t Looking to monitor doors with current wired system before purchasing wireless

I currently have a DSC RFK5501-433. All of my home's doors and windows are monitored through the system and it beeps when opening or closing. I'm not opposed to that and would even like to keep it. However, for at least the 3 doors I have, I would like to have some type of app notify my phone when they are opened. It would also be nice if it included all of the windows. But before spending a ton to replace it, I would just get this Yolink system on Amazon. Is there any other alternatives?
