THE OBLIGATORY "IS THIS A SCAM?" QUESTION: Considering the fact that you found my contact information online, it’s understandable to be skeptical regarding the legitimacy of my services. Therefore, I’m willing to do all of the following to help you feel more secure in trusting me with your academic needs:
- 1) Speak with you on the phone and answer any questions you may have so that you have the opportunity to assess and analyze my tone, articulation, accent, diction, dialect, regionalisms, pitch, vocabulary, word choice, intonations, and inflections.
- NOTE: I’m a New Jersey-born Irish/Italian-American, but I have been told that I speak in an erudite & articulate suburban American accent with a “professor style” voice somewhat resembling the voice of actor: Ben Stein.
- 2) Agree to do some homework questions of yours upfront with the work fully shown in real-time to prove my mastery of the course content.
- 3) Send you screenshots of at least five past scores I attained from completing exams & homework assignments for other students in the same type of class you need help with.
- 4) Send you full screenshots of written exam solutions I wrote up by hand for students in the past in the same course that you need help with so that you can see my neat handwriting.
- 5) Provide you with the contact information of students who have utilized my services in the past who would be more than willing to vouch for my skills.

MY REBUTTAL TO THE OBLIGATORY “IS THIS A SCAM?” QUESTION: At the risk of sounding arrogant, I consider myself to be at least marginally more intelligent (both academically & socially) than the average person. Therefore, if I ever decided to suddenly risk prison time, risk my reputation, and risk enduring the wrath of modern-day “cancel culture” by scamming people out of their money:
- I certainly wouldn’t do it for such paltry amounts of money. (i.e., anything less than $1,000 per victim.)
- I certainly wouldn’t choose high school & college students as my “target audience” to scam, considering that most people without college degrees have abysmally low annual incomes. Why choose low-income victims when it would be much more profitable to target high-income, high-net-worth individuals earning at least six figures a year? I have knowledge in business consulting, and I promise you that a business owner would be a MUCH more lucrative mark than a low-income college student.
- I wouldn’t choose such a time & energy-draining method of scamming people. Also, communicating back and forth with potential clients is an absurdly long time sink since only less than 10% of all potential clients who reach out to me actually become paying clients of mine. This means that 90% of my time communicating with potential clients ultimately proves to be a colossal waste of my irretrievable time & energy.
- If you pay me to provide academic services and I don’t deliver, you can always dispute the payment with the payment app and easily get your money refunded. If I were in the habit of swindling money from people, then all of my payment accounts would have been investigated and be completely shut down by now. And I would have been permanently banned from opening new accounts. Therefore, the fact that all my payment apps have been fully active for years should be sufficient proof that I haven’t had people consistently disputing payments sent to me.
HOW TO CONTACT ME: - If you are interested in my services and would like to learn more info, please feel free to reach out to me.
- Text messages and email are the fastest and easiest ways to get in touch with me. However, I gladly accept phone calls.
- If I don't respond right away, I am most likely helping a student at the time and not currently available to speak on the phone. But I always make a solid effort to reply to texts, emails, and phone calls within an hour.

2024.05.12 22:57 UNDERdecoded Prevent the Passage of SB632 to Protect Payday Loans
| “Interest Rate Caps in Illinois: In March 2021, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed the Predatory Loan Prevention Act into law, capping interest rates at 36% for consumer loans, including payday and car title loans. This legislation was modeled after the federal Military Lending Act, which also protects active service members and their dependents by imposing a similar rate cap. Prior to this law, payday loans in Illinois carried an average annual percentage rate (APR) of 297%, while auto title loans had APRs around 179%1. By implementing the 36% rate cap, Illinois joined 17 other states and Washington, D.C., which say they do so in attempt to provide substantial protections to low-income communities targeted by predatory lending practices. Foreclosure Rates in Illinois: Unfortunately, despite the "positive" impact on consumer loans, Illinois faced a surge in foreclosures. In October 2021, about one in every 1,923 homes in Illinois was in foreclosure, representing an 182% increase from September and nearly triple the number from October 2019. Most of these foreclosures occurred in Chicago, where the unemployment rate was higher than the national average. In summary, while the interest rate cap has positively impacted consumer loans, Illinois still faces challenges in its housing market. The state’s efforts to strike a balance between protecting borrowers and maintaining access to credit remain a topic of ongoing debate.” As a customer service provider within a payday loan company and as someone who grew up in a low-income household that has regularly utilized these services, I understand the importance of payday loans in our society. These loans provide crucial financial support for many families in Michigan, including my own. The proposed bill SB632 threatens the existence of such services, which could have devastating effects on those who rely on them. Payday loans are often the only option for individuals who do not have access to traditional banking services or are living paycheck to paycheck. According to data from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), nearly 27% of households in America are underbanked or unbanked. This means they lack access to basic financial services that many take for granted. It also fails to take into account that some people just dont want to deal with banks. If passed, SB632 will limit these already scarce resources further. This is not just about protecting an industry; it's about safeguarding a lifeline for countless families across Michigan. We must raise awareness about this issue and contact our local representatives to voice our concerns against SB632. By doing so, we can protect payday loan services and ensure they remain available for those who need them most. Please sign this petition and join us in standing up against SB632! Say No to SB632 contact your local representative today and tell them to vote no on SB632! Say No to SB632: Protect Access to Short-Term Lending As Michiganders, we understand the importance of having access to emergency funds when traditional banks may not provide loans. Payday loans have been a lifeline for many of us, preventing car repossessions, power shutoffs, and home foreclosures. Let’s stand together and say no to SB632, which threatens to eliminate this crucial resource. The Facts About Payday Loans: Debunking Misconceptions 1. Interest Rates and Fees: SB632 falsely claims that payday loans are predatory with exorbitant interest rates. However, payday loans don’t accrue interest like traditional bank loans. Instead, borrowers pay a one-time fee based on the loan amount (up to $600 per branch with a maximum fee of $77, limited to two loans statewide). - Payment Plans: Life can throw unexpected challenges our way. If someone can’t repay their payday loan, most lenders are willing to work out a payment plan. Unlike traditional loans, there are no additional interest charges or fees during this process so long as you stay in touch, explain your situation and make an attempt to pay something each payday.
- Protection Against Scams: Payday lenders serve as a safety net, protecting countless people from online scams. Without them, where would these vulnerable individuals turn? Unfortunately, alternative support systems are scarce when banks deny loan approvals.
- Hidden Consequences: Passing SB632 could lead to unintended consequences. Desperate for funds, people might turn to online installment loans, paying back three times the borrowed amount over the long term. These loans often come with unmanageable monthly payments, pushing borrowers further into financial distress.
The Real Predators The true threat lies with those pushing SB632. By eliminating payday lenders without providing a viable replacement, they jeopardize hundreds of thousands of Michiganders’ accesses to emergency funds. Moreover, Michigan’s economy and job market, just beginning to recover, would suffer needlessly. Let’s protect what has worked for generations. Tell your representative to vote NO to SB632 and ensure that our fellow citizens have a safety net in times of need. 🌟💪 Feel free to share this message with your local representatives to advocate for responsible lending practices! 😊🗳️📜 submitted by UNDERdecoded to Michigan_Politics [link] [comments] |

- Toshiba EXPLROAVISION Science Competition Honorable Mention (Regional)
- 1st Place at regional jazz competition for jazz piano (Regional)
- "Best Piano Player" Award from school (School)
Extracurriculars/Activites **Extracurriculars are not ranked by importance here, just grouped by category**
1 - Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Cancer Center Internship (Two summers, sophomore and junior year, and got paid a little bit for it) shadowed attendings, did computational research. Got a letter of rec from my mentor thanks to this! I also ended up getting to co-author publications thanks to this, but neither are fully published yet (probably hurt me in the admissions process bc I could only say they were submitted)
2 - Varsity Badminton Captain, four year starter, #1 doubles ranking in my school. I'm also a volunteer counselor at the summer badminton camp for our school. Named top 15 players in my region (Long Island). While I was on the team, we also were the County Champs runner ups, 2x League Champions, and created history by reaching the County Finals for both the boys and girls team (can you tell i love badminton)
3 - Organized weekly community badminton training sessions at the local YMCA for the past three years. I also help train current and prospective Varsity players alongside my doubles partner, and actively train at a badminton center where I participate in tournaments. Honestly, despite all the high school stuff, I still have a lot to improve at in this sport. Hopefully I'll find time in college.
4 - Varsity Fencing (for the school), we won League and County Championships, and were 2nd on Long Island. I was a starter for foil. I only did this for a year, but was still a ton of fun.
5 - Competitive Swimming (7 years) - competed in independent swim clubs, I qualified for this huge meet in Maryland that got cancelled cuz of COVID... then I quit swimming bc it made me depressed. Go figure.
6 - Marching Band Drum Major (and former trumpet section leader), I did Marching Band all four years of HS, I also help run the Pep Band during the off-season and got featured on a local newspaper!
7 - High School Select Ensembles - 2nd chair trumpet player, 1st chair pianist, and tenor for Wind Ensemble, Pit Orchestra (School Musical), Chamber Chorus, Jazz Band, and Jazz Messengers (smaller version of Jazz Band and invite only, we play at fundraisers and community events, we got featured on local news once, that was cool) I had to audition to join each of these ensembles, and had 2 hr rehearsals for each of them once a week after school. Thank goodness they were all on different days and didn't overlap too much. Concert nights were brutal tho but I love music so what can I say.
8 - TRI-M Music Honor Society President... except I actually had to do a lot of work - reached out to local elderly homes and community library to organize music events where students could sign up to perform in the community. (I've been president for two years, a member ever since 7th grade)
9 - President's Council - Student government group, but only for presidents of honor societies - we often go to leadership conferences and we meet with building administration to pretty much give input on things we can improve within the school. We also organize an annual festival at the end of the school year (we literally cancel class and organize events for students to go to instead, so it's like a huge community-oriented celebration)
10 - Chinese Culture - I've been attending a Chinese School that rents out a building at a local university, where I've been learning Chinese since kindergarten (I'm fluent now). I also was a TA for the Children's Chorus at the Chinese school, sang Peking Opera and Chinese music at annual performances, was a master of ceremony for some of those very same performances, and briefly hosted some episodes of the Chinese School Children's Podcast. I also went to a culture exchange camp in China (summer before COVID) where I performed a Peking Opera piece and got interviewed by a local CCTV news station. I was extremely privileged to even get that opportunity, as my Chinese school had offered it to us all-expenses paid.
Essay/Letter of Rec: Common App Essay on activity #3 (Community Badminton), I made it very cute, our group was named the Badminton Besties and I talked about how I wanted to promote the sport more within the school and community, and the challenges I had to overcome before settling down at the YMCA, and how I never originally expected to be asked to train other people but slowly began to appreciate it.
Not the greatest essay though - this essay will neither make nor break my application, but badminton is definitely a unique topic for me.
Math Teacher LoR: He wrote a lot of LoRs, I think his letter is good but not outstanding or anything. 6.5/10
Band Teacher LoR: I've known her for four years, she cooked rlly hard on her letter however I prioritized her letter lower bc music isn't a "core" subject. 9/10
Stanford Alumni LoR: He was the attending doctor and my mentor for research when I was at MSK. 10/10
Counselor LoR: Better than the math teachers LoR I think, me and my counselor are pretty tight. 8.5/10
Supplements: I slaved away for hours and hours each week to write them. Of course I was then able to repurpose them for many schools (THANK GOD) Overall, solid 7/10, just felt like some of them didn't make me stand out enough, but I just wrote about things that genuinely showcased me as a person.
Interviews MIT- 10/10 loved by interviewer, he was a older guy with a lot of great stories to tell. We chatted for like 3 hours inside the Panera until the sun set. Great guy!
Princeton - 8/10 really nice interviewer who was a doctor at a hospital not far away from me. We talked about Princeton's clubs, campus life, and webtoons!
UPenn- 8/10 my interviewer was a really young student who just graduated, he showed me his pet cat (it climbed in front of his camera lol), talked a lot about our favorite foods
Harvard- 6/10 it was ok, my interviewer was nice but clearly not very interested. He was a masters graduate from Harvard, not undergrad, so it was kinda hard to talk to him and ask him questions about what the undergrad experience was like. He also sort of just rapid fired questions at me.
Stanford - 8/10 super cool dude, this guy was so well rounded and I got to talk to him about my math IA (he was really into math), what the food and student life in Palo Alto was like, sports, and music.
Duke - 7.5/10 interviewer responded to my email 3 hours before the actual interview... we did it by phone call instead of via Zoom, and ig Duke interviews are only 30 minutes long, unlike the other ones which were around 45 minutes. However, the actual interview went REALLY well, it was clear she just understood me. I talked about the things that truly made me happy, like jazz and badminton. I talked about how I enjoyed science research a lot, particularly presenting (which many people probably dread). She talked about the Duke student life with me a lot, and we got through a lot of stuff in 30 minutes!
The only weird thing was that she asked me where I ED'd to (nowhere), and asked me what my top choice was. I actually took a HUGE risk with my answer - I told her that Duke was one of my top 3 schools, but in no particular order because I don't feel like there's only one school where I can be happy, successful, or satisfied at. Duke was one of those schools to me, one where the weather, student life, campus, and academics are great, and that it was a school I could try imagine myself (something I could not say for many of the colleges I applied to). I think she genuinely appreciated the honesty though.
**Final thing about Duke's interviews - apparently not everyone gets interviews anymore, and they are given only to students they need more information for**
Decisions **I DID NOT ED ANYWHERE, and all schools were RD unless specified EA*\*
Rejections - All ivies I applied to (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UPenn, Cornell, Columbia)
- Stanford
- MIT
- Northeastern (deferred EA -> rejected RD)
- USC (deferred EA -> rejected RD)
- NYU
- UC Berkeley
- UC Santa Barbara
Waitlists - UCLA
- UC Irvine (Withdrew)
- Boston University (Withdrew)
Acceptances - Duke (waitlisted -> accepted)
- UMich LSA Honors (Accepted EA)
- UC San Diego
- Rutgers with 15k scholarship (Accepted EA)
- Fordham with 45k scholarship (Accepted EA)
- University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) with 8k a year (Accepted EA)
- SUNY Bing with 5k a year (Accepted EA)
- SUNY Buffalo with 5k a year
13 rejections, 3 waitlists, and 8 acceptances later... I am now committed to Duke Trinity College of Arts and Sciences for biology!!! (Originally committed to UMich but withdrew)
Final Thoughts All you need is one! I was incredibly lucky to have gotten off the Duke waitlist, as it was my top choice after getting rejected from the other schools. I was already satisfied going to UMich, but now that Duke accepted me, go Blue Devils!
To all high school students out there stressing about college - remember that you define your own worth, and that in the end, you should attend a university that is both financially a good fit, but also a school that you know you will be happy at. I know that for me, comparison was the biggest thief of joy. Don't let yourself get dragged down too much by the accomplishments of others, because everyone moves at their own pace. However, if you put in the time and effort, results will inevitably follow. I was a good student, but never the smartest. It took me hours upon hours to studying to get the SAT score I wanted, and a lot of the time I spent on my ECs and internship came at the cost of my relationships with friends and family.
Good luck to everyone!! If you have questions for me, please feel free to reach out and DM!!

2024.05.09 19:11 Basalganglia4life Future Course Work for Upper Division Bio Requirement?
So I am applying this cycle and I have the following prereqs:
2 years gen/organic Chem
1 year physics
1 year bio
1 year math (calc and stats)
1 year behavior sciences
1 year english
1 semester biochem
Some of the schools in my school list (U Illinois, MCW, UCI) require a upper division bio class. I could take a genetics course at the UCSD extension to satisfy this requirement but since only 3 schools on my school list require it, I really only want to spend the money if those specifc schools are interested in me. Would it make since to add the genetics course as future coursework on my amcas application and take the course only if those universities bite?

2024.05.09 07:06 ThePrideofNothing Choosing between MAT237 and MAT235 for this summer
In the waitlist for the MAT235 online section (20/120 so not looking good), while MAT237 (online) has open spots available. Super unemployed this summer so this is what I'm gonna be spending 50% of my summer on. Problem is I haven't taken MAT137, only 135/36 so I don't know how unprepared I'll be and it's been 2 years since I've taken a calc course. I have however taken the CS proof courses including CSC373 and some MAT proof courses, but I don't know how relevant they'll be.
Anyways, for those who have taken the course (both in and out of summer), would you recommend I take 237 since it seems I won't be taking 235?

2024.05.09 05:32 Wicked_Elemelon What schools will I get into?
Okay so I don’t know how many people will see this, but i could really use some advice. For starters, I’m a junior in high school and I recently received my SAT score and I’ve been thinking about schools I’d like to apply to but I don’t know what’s realistic for me. I have a 4.5 weighted GPA and a 3.9 unweighted and I have a 1380 SAT score (i don't know if i should retake it). When i finish school, I will have taken 5 AP classes, (chem, calc, psych, microeconomics, and stats), and 12 honors classes. Some of my extra curriculars include: Vice President of a non-profit organization, seal of biliteracy, nhs, math honors society, Spanish honors society, volleyball for all four years of high school, club volleyball for four years, a student athletic leadership program, 150+ volunteer hours, and a couple jobs. I would preferably like to major in applied mathematics or be in an actuarial science program. Some schools I’m considering applying to are: uw Madison, uiuc, Illinois state, umich, Illinois Wesleyan, Purdue, ucla, uc berk, ball state university, university of Iowa, and u Nebraska. I don’t know if these schools are too hard for me to get into, but I would like to have a rough idea about which of these schools i might get accepted to. Also, what can I do in order to increase my likelihood of getting into some of the more difficult schools, such as umich or ucla? Thank you so much.

2024.05.09 03:09 Stressedhssenior_ penn state offer rescinds
long story short I was accepted to penn state UP for bme.
i have a complicated hs story. forced circumstances caused me to move countries and i immigrated to the u.s last july
this was a big move for me because 5 years of hs had now shrunk to 4 years since we followed the Cambridge education system (o-levels and a-levels)
moving here alone with my mom was a big and sudden move and I enrolled at a competitive hs in illinois. ofc it was challenging to adapt to a u.s highschool being the only new student in a class of 700 seniors (all of whom had been apart of the same class throughout freshman-senior year)
anyways, the course load I took was dominated by compulsory classes (u.s history, government, health and consumer economics) my gpa first semester was ridiculously bad I finished with a 2.1 uW 3B’s 2C’s 2D’s
second semester I tried harder but I didnt do significantly better but I’ll end with a 3.1 uW with 3A’s 2B’s 1C and a D which I can’t raise to a C (my teacher is a strict grader)
D’s were AP bio both semesters and pre calc by just 1% first semester.
Now I understand this would be a rescind no matter what college I apply to in most cases, but having to squeeze my SAT tests, college apps, and a tougher workload at a competitive hs in the US was a big challenge especially living in an apartment with my mom alone (dad stayed back) - which meant far more responsibilities
I am really committed on attending Penn state and aware I will do well because this year was more of an adjustment for me I think a 1.0 rise in the semester gives me hope I can do well. In 9-11 I had A’s and a lot of B’s mostly with a couple C’s. I took a lot of tests because we got tested much more often (British education system)
To maximize my chances of smoothly transitioning what can I do? my D’s were in AP bio

2024.05.08 06:21 KartoffelWal How do you live with roommates?
I've realized I needed to move out of my parents' house for a long time now. I did when I was 18 for college, but then had to drop out (long story, my physical and mental health were not great). I then moved out/got kicked out when I was 19, and moved in with my boyfriend who was emotionally abusive. I moved back in with my parents when we broke up. I'm now almost 21, and will probably move out next year when I'm 22. I'm currently in community college and will graduate next year, so I'll be (hopefully) transferring somewhere else fall of 2025.
My top choice is University of Illinois Chicago, and it is not cheap to live there. In all honesty, it won't be cheap anywhere compared to the town I live now, regardless of what university I go to. But I genuinely want to get as far away as I can (within my state, at least), because my parents continue to be an absolutely negative impact on my mental health.
But I'm really anxious about getting a roommate. I did have a roommate in school when I was 18, but we never connected too much and he moved in with a friend halfway through the year anyways. I made a lot of close friends in my dorm, so they often were my roommates in a way, but they ended up being toxic and contributed to why I dropped out. They made fun of me for my anxiety disorder, sleep disorder, and they otherwise treated me like a little kid. They constantly invalidated me, especially about being emotionally neglected, because some of them were physically abused and told me I was being overdramatic.
Now, when thinking about going back to school, I'm realizing that I will probably need a roommate. I would be okay getting a studio by myself in theory, but I can't even afford that. I'm unemployed right now so I can't save up for it. One of my friends at another university uses loans to pay for her housing, but she has her entire tuition paid for, and I know I'll pay the cost of the actual classes and barely have any leftover to pay for an apartment. I will most likely work part time wherever I go, but I don't know how to afford housing costs before then without a roommate.
But financial aspect aside, I don't even know how to look for a roommate. I don't know how to get along with a roommate. I've lost a lot of friends in the past couple years, and honestly, I'm at peace with it. I think I'd be more at peace not making a lot of new friends in college and just studying/working. I'm so anxious even thinking about getting into another shitty social relationship that I wouldn't be able to handle every waking second where I live. And even if my roommate and I get along, I don't know how to emotionally connect. I don't want to basically ignore them, because I did that in a lot of my living situations and it made my anxiety 100x worse because I couldn't gauge how they felt about me and just felt like a weirdo. I also don't know how I'd be able to trust someone I'm not close with when telling them about things that trigger me.
Does anyone else feel similarly? Has anyone ended up with a decent roommate situation, and if so, how? Thanks.

- I take my work as a tutor very seriously, and I always aim to do my best to help my students excel in school. I have a solid and sincere passion for academic achievement, and with my help, I am positive that I can help students obtain very high grades with minimal stress and effort.
- Please feel free to contact me if you're interested in my services and would like to learn more. I'm available 24/7 via phone call, email, and text. Again, thank you for taking the time to read my Reddit tutoring ad, and I hope to hear from you soon!

My availability for the Autumn 2021 / Fall 2021 semester will likely become limited very quickly as I receive more and more academic requests.

OCT 2021 UPDATE: I am currently offering discount deals for requests for assistance with completing a student's entire course for the Fall 2021 semester (14 - 20 week courses acceptable), as well as discounts for students seeking help with multiple exams and/or multiple classes for Fall 2021. My availability for the Autumn 2021 / Fall 2021 semester will likely become limited very quickly as I receive more and more academic requests.

2024.05.07 08:49 skydream2323 Renewing Driver's License with DACA Approval Letter only: Anyone Done It?
Hello fellow Redditors,
I'm in a bit of a bind while waiting for my EAD card to be produced. Without it, I'm currently unemployed. However, I've already been approved for DACA renewal and have received the approval letter. My question is, can I renew my driver's license using just the DACA approval letter, or do I need the physical EAD card? Since I have some free time while waiting for the EAD card, I thought I could go ahead and renew my license with the official DACA approval letter.
Have any of you been in a similar situation, or have you successfully renewed your license with just the DACA letter? I'm based in Illinois, so I assume the process might be similar to other DMVs, but I'd appreciate any insights or experiences you can share. Thanks in advance for your help!

2024.05.05 22:19 Iron_Maiden1987 I'm feeling lost...
So I currently moved to central Illinois, and unfortunately lost my job of 3 years upon the second month of being here... I was counting inventory and was good at it(we got paid for speed and accuracy), so I didn't feel too much anxiety or agoraphobia from it...even from day one I felt good. Anyway, I now am unemployed, have no income, in debt, and am "terrified" to try something new due to lack of self confidence/esteem... Idk, I guess I just needed to vent. So what are some of the jobs that you guys enjoy doing, that doesn't spike the everloving-crap out of your anxiety? Thanks for taking the time to read.
