This year Eurovision Song Context (ESC) was probably the last one in history with the songs mostly created by humans. With the new Generative AI advancements, like UDIO, SUNO, SORA, the next years will be flooded with the AI generated song performances, from lyrics, melodies, chord progression to costumes, visual effects, and maybe even choreography. The AI algorithms will be trained on the previous winning songs to generate a "perfect winning song". Not just the ESC, the whole music industry will be a big dumpster fire next year.
The ESC admins better start looking into the new rules and criteria that would ensure that the ESC remains mostly human. Or else, the AI will break the code and there will be no rules anymore.

I wrote down everything the best I could remember it. I don't know how true this all is. It just flowed.
1) Desires comes from 2 places: 1) Our previous experiences, which create programs inside of our minds. Example: One's father may have enjoyed driving sports cars growing up and they got to ride in the cars while the father raced them. The thrill and exhiliration from these experiences may create a desire to drive these types of cars themselves when they come of age to reexperience that thrill and exhiliration. 2) Genetic coding, which is divinely generated. Example: One may have never experienced sports cars be may be pre-disposed to the desire for experiencing thrill and exhiliration and thus be drawn to driving sports cars.
2) The ego/personality is developed from a combination of past experiences and genetic disposition. The body provides the input/senses (sight, sound, taste, touch, smell) that allow the ability to experience.
3) The desires generated from one's ego/personality and body exist to generate karmic situations that allow consciousness evolution. Through these desires one either consciously or unconsciously creates their own life situations to allow this growth to occur. The ego/personality exists by God's design to allow these karmic situations and learning to occur.
4) The mind judges everything through the lens of the ego/personality. An object may be perceived as good to one person but may be bad to another. Example: A child sees belts as scary and feels fear anytime they see them. Another child sees belts as stylish and has a collection of several of them. The child that is afraid of belts is so because of past experiences where they were punished by getting whipped with belts, experiencing pain and suffering. The belts themselves are benign. It's the mind that makes it something other than it is.
5) Given the labeling of objects from the mind, what if those are stripped away and the person didn't filter anything? Everything would just be as it is. Objects would be neither good nor bad. And without any labeling at all, things would be without opposites too. There would be neither high, nor low, neither forward, nor backward, neither up nor down. They would just be, in whatever state they are without a position in time or space.
6) And what if the ego/personality wasn't there, like when a baby is first born? It is aware via the body's senses but doesn't have any experiences to create labels and preferences. It is just aware. Maybe that's what we are too when we strip away all of the junk. Just awareness and being.

Hi! I'm a longtime Blender user. Years ago before it was removed I'd toy with BGE but only briefly. Today I'm still interested in using its continuation UPBGE for some realtime projects, with Godot still being highly technical and having no means of visual scripting which I prefer to code. Most of what I like to do is procedurally generated worlds such as heightmap terrains; I was wondering to what extent things like random noise terrains or randomized structures are doable in BGE today.
I read somewhere that modifiers are static and applied before the game starts. However it didn't clarify if any of their parameters can be changed before then: Can a noise texture be used to displace a plane still be randomized before runtime to get an unique result per session? Otherwise can modifiers be tweaked or disabled at startup so whether to apply one or not is randomized?
I've heard geometry nodes may offer the best solution: A tutorial showcased a logic node that allows changing properties inside geometry nodes in realtime, it sounded very useful to what I'm hoping for! Are collisions and pathfinding updated accordingly, so that changing geometry nodes in realtime doesn't break physics for any object dynamics as well as character navigation?

if i want to use next, do i need to use nextauth as the authentication provider? because I cannot get the credentials provider to work both locally and on vercel. my current situation is using nextauth , credentials provider, with a custom authorize function that takes the credentials and hits my API. the problem is that vercel wants me to define the credentials parameter, and it throws a huge error of all the things my unassigned parameters is missing. can i just use any or unknown and public this mess?

Is it just me, or does the 2 factor authentication feature on EP Electric just never work? I never receive either the text or email codes, it's just radio silence. I waste a good 1 to 2 hours every month just trying to log into EP Electric because I'm trying to get the damn code so that I can log in to pay my bill. I'd set up autopay but I can't even log in most of the time and EP Electric doesn't let you autopay by credit card. I guess I should start calling to pay my bill because of how bad EP Electric tech is.

2024.05.14 03:02 Riser777 How do I...build/compile a project?

I know this seems like such a dumb question because it's supposed to be common knowledge, but because of that I can't find a straight answer online and thus never learned to do it properly.
I've worked with C++ for years, but always on my own projects from scratch, and I mostly focused on the process of coding itself and much else outside that, I always just clicked "Debug > Start Without Debugging" whenever I need to execute the code because that's all I ever knew.
(I knew just enough to be able to generate release builds and just debug builds, but not much else like I said.)
But now I'm doing something different.
I just modified opened and modified one of Unreal's CPP files using Visual Studio, how do I rebuild/compile the engine from the source?
Is it as simple as "Build > Build Insights > Build" and then just wait? That doesn't sound right.
See I don't even know the right terminology, am I rebuilding or compiling?
Could someone please give me a simple answer for how to do this.

Unable to create a character
I'm a new player installing the game for the first time, but after I select New Game > Classic, most of the subsequent buttons don't do anything. Selecting Presets, New, and Random don't do anything, whereas Library tells me to enter a code, and Last says there is no valid last character.
I've tried the other modes, like Wanderer, but have the same issue. I've hit Num 9, Spacebar, Enter, clicked everything, tried selecting the "Choose Genotype" button on the top but can't seem to get anywhere from here. Am I missing a character creation step?
I've tried different monitors and resolutions as well, but to no avail. I've seen similar threads about this mentioning it's due to mods, but I don't have any mods installed as this is my first time playing. I've also uninstalled, reinstalled, verified the integrity of the game cache, as well as deleted the folder in AppData.
Really pretty lost here, any other ideas appreciated!

I've enabled error messages, and noticed if I select "Daily" I see the following error, though I'm not sure it's related to the issue I'm having. Do I need to generate a world before I can go through with character creation a la CDDA?

EDIT 2:
Fixed it! On another reload, I noticed the following error popup showing an issue with "Classes.xml", so I went into Steam/steamapps/common/Caves of Qud/CoQ_Data/StreamingAssets/Base and deleted "Classes.xml". After deleting it, I immediately booted up the game and was able to proceed during character creation.

Thinking about all of this discussion about a stadium in a critical piece of downtown Albany I am reminded by the writing of Andres Duany, Elizabeth Plater - Zyberk and Jeff Speck in their 2000 book Suburban Nation. I could not agree with this more and if the problems described by Jane Jacobs in the below isn’t Albany I don’t know what is. The parking lot district must be developed into a lively neighborhood, not the latest mega project idea. To me it’s as obvious as it could ever be. All of the 29 parcels should be left small and must be sold to an array of developers, big and smaller, all backed by a special zoning code and a city commitment to build new roads, sidewalks, street lighting and park improvements. All of this is done with a common goal, to create the memorable downtown neighborhood that doesn’t currently exist.
“The new suburbs are known for their private yards, their tennis clubs, their golf courses and their guard houses. The city does not offer these amenities in abundance, nor should it attempt to. Perhaps he best known urban amenities are cultural and sports events. These are indeed an advantage of city life, but they are not the most effective way to renew a downtown as some suggest. These events may periodically attract suburban visitors, but they are not sufficient to persuade people to live or work in the city. The most significant amenity that the city can offer potential residents is a public realm, with the vibrant street life that phrase implies. Such an environment is the compensation the city offers customers for foregoing the suburban amenity package. If it exits, it can be enough, as downtowns from Manhattan to Portland show.
