......
Caz didn't remember blacking out as she smashed through the wall, Valkyrie armor absorbing most of the blow. All she knew is that when she opened her eyes, she was moving faster than ever, throwing herself over obstacles and around corners as that massive emitter slung blinding pulses of light at her, but she wasn't stupid, it could hit her anytime it chose; They were herding her like livestock. Caz kicked off one wall of an alleyway, then the other and landed on the roof, never breaking stride as she leapt from crumbling rooftop to crumbling rooftop like she had wings, one arm protectively clutched to her chest to protect the remote. Jumping down a level she sprinted across the lower roofs, circling back around to try and retrieve her Huntress, When a Block-90 sailed through the air towards her. She caught it, Barely registering the name Dahlia engraved on the slide. She didn't need to see the troublemaker's guardian specter as a weighted chain sailed through the air from nothing to knock aside the emitter of a Geknosian spec ops' laser rifle. Caz instinctually aimed, and fired Dahlia, The soldier reeling back as a .30 caliber Durasteel slug slammed through their faceplate.
A soldier appeared in front of her, swinging a war gauntlet at her face. Sliding between their legs she put a round through their taint at point blank range to bring them to their knees before putting another round in the back of their helmet as she stood, never breaking stride.
Her muscles stung like hornets and her breath burned like fire, but she couldn't help but let loose a feral laugh as she slid, jumped, and vaulted through the rubble of the ruined village. The Dahlia barked, a spec ops soldier crumpling or flinching to swing their rifle from the shimmer in the air right in front of them so Cassius could drive a Kama into their throat. She didn't see charlotte anywhere, and despite the betrayal and stabbing of Remin, she couldn't help but be concerned for the girl. Another spec ops appeared in front of her, she slid around them, putting five rounds in their back armor, only for them to turn around and deliver a haymaker straight into her mask.
She felt her nose break as she slammed into the roof, momentum halted by the brutal hit as the remote flew from her hand. He reyes watched it sail through the air and fall.
Fall.
Fall into the waiting, ring bedecked hand of Drake. A shiver ran through the air as Drake pocketed the remote, a black, tattered spartan's cape flowing about his shoulders. But unlike every other time he'd lost consciousness and returned, it was like he had lost power this time, in a matter of fact, it was like he'd been drained of it. But the way he held himself was so much different, there was a sparkle in his eyes as he drew his sword, helmet flying into his palm as he snugged it on. The rings glimmered even as they absorbed so much of the light that hit them that they appeared as silhouettes.
There was a sudden change in the spec ops as they focused on Drake, she watched them gather into small groups, forming fire teams as the metal buzzards above turned to focus on the lone man. The words that fell from Drake's lips were like the first rumbles of thunder before a deadly monsoon.
"I haven't felt this scared since I was in the arena... And you have no idea how excited that makes me!"
...
Charlotte would not let the darkness of her mind claim her again. She tugged and pulled at the threads of her consciousness, fighting her older sister for control of her own body. But her older sister pulled back harder, tugging the knife taut against someone's throat. A shock of pain, a shock of cold and she was forced to let go. For a moment, she and her older sister were one. She could feel her older sister's fear, fear of punishment and reprisal. A tough mask hid the fragile being beneath that so desperately cried for freedom but feared what it could mean. All Charlotte could do, was push in her determination to be free again to her older sister before they separated again.
But this time she was not alone in the darkness, The soft sound of penny whistles and old war drums followed a man in furs and carrying an odd metal tube attached to a stock. His presence felt like an open field under a night full of stars that stretched on forever, or an endless calm ocean where you stood on a steady boat, the world as your oyster. But there was also something scary about it, like the ability to do anything was both curse and blessing. But when the man softly set himself down beside her, he also sat with her sister, letting them face each other, speaking with a soft twang she could only describe as old country, the man chuckled.
"I reckon you girls both want the same thing, and with the lord as my witness, I'm here to grant you that wish."
He held out his hands to either of us.
"Let us pray to the lord our god that he may deliver you from the lands of egypt and into the promised land."
They both took his hand, and bowed their heads as he recited a few ancient prayers. Charlotte felt a burning in her soul, a lightness that replaced the oppressive dark with a field of beautiful flowers, just like home. Looking to big sister sylva, she could see the fearful, broken look in her eyes, but also a spark of determination as the man picked up his percussion cap rifle and walked away, the sound of pennywhistles and drums following him as she tearfully, but strongly took her older sisters hand.
"Do the right thing."
As she pulled her hands away, the remote was left in her hand. Charlotte could feel the smile behind Sylva's mask as she tossed the remote, watching it turn into a swallow that flitted off as fast as it could.
...
Death slammed a palm against the wooden doors, bursting them open like they were old and rotten as he stormed into Conquest's throne room, scythe slamming against the stony floor as Drake stood off to the side. He felt an odd sensation, like he was only as strong as a human could be, like he had no power left.
And it was like a burden had been lifted from his shoulders. He moved slower, hit softer, and got hit harder now, he knew that, but it excited him to actually be able to fight!
Death stopped a few paces from conquest, who was lacksadaisically sipping from a clear goblet as servants played soft music from a corner and served her wine, either chained to their instruments, or dragging a heavy weight by their ankle or equivalent. Drake looked on in grinning anger, teeth grinding together as he observed the degrading spectacle. Death collected himself slightly, no expression visible on his skull face as he spoke in a voice like nails on a chalkboard.
"I heard that you used a soultrap, Conquest. Those were banned during the eight thousandth pantheonal convention, but I heard you used one on my chosen here."
Conquest snorted into her goblet before spotting drake and tensing so hard the goblet shattered.
"So what?! your little monster breaks more rules than I could dream of breaking!"
Death glanced back at Drake as the swordsman leaned casually against a pillar, gripping two rings menacingly with a manic grin of rage directed at conquest. The god couldn't look the mere mortal in the eyes as Death raised a calming skeletal hand.
"He breaks universal rules, supposedly unbreakable ones... and admittedly, I'm not sure how the fuck he does it. But we all agreed that soul traps are both inhumane, unfair, and straight up bullshit. It says that in the fuckin rulebook, Verbatim. If you want to fight my chosen, you'll do it in Yovun's arena, per the five thousandth convention. I don't want a war amongst the gods Gul'vak, but it seems you do..."
Conquest straightened upon the utterance of her true name, a low growl coming from her throat.
"You know nothing about what you speak of Human! Do not lecture me about rules!"
Heat mirage appeared around Death before he took a deep breath and simply said.
"Drake, if Conquest wants to break agreed upon rules... I guess I can turn a blind eye just this once. Go wild."
The room rumbled as two rings hit the ground, disappearing into black smoke so they could be summoned back without issue. Conquest stood, grabbing her hammer from thin air. But then two more rings clinked against the ground as Drake exploded with power, surging forth on black wings wreathed in pale flame. Conquest flinched and screamed.
"ALRIGHT!"
Drake stopped the lethal thrust inches away from Conquests fearful face, the hammer tumbling to the ground as Drake summoned the rings back onto his hands. He'd wanted to drive alexandros through her heart. But he could wait, as he turned around, rage broiling in his heart as he forcefully cooled it, this was not his world, it was the world of gods and primordials. It would be wise to follow their rules. Conquests voice was faux-strong as she shakily snarled.
"I'll follow the godsdamned rules... just keep that Thing away from me."
Drake felt a smile come to his face, pride swelling in his chest, this was a different kind of power he felt as he joined Death's side fearlessly. At the drop of a hat, he could make the greatest enemy of his people grovel at his feet. But, taking a deep breath, he pushed the feeling away, knowing now how the high priest felt every time he cracked that whip against a young Drake's raw back. How dangerous getting addicted to that feeling could be. He'd enjoy it for now, but he also made a solemn promise to hold back any chance he could. To show the mercy he never received.
Death swept around, beckoning Drake.
"Come, young warrior, I sense that your friends need you."
Drake was shaken from his thoughts as he rapidly joined Death's side.
"How do you know?"
"Old john brown has finally selected a chosen. For a god of liberty he has a lot of deference to the big G."
"Who's the big G?"
"God, used to be kind of a pompous bastard really, but he's grown on me."
"Nothing you just said makes sense to me."
"To You."
Death clarified confusingly.
...
Drake looked over the gathered Geknosian spec ops, noticing Charlotte's pummeled form leaning against a pile of rubble, chest weakly rising and falling. Cataclysmic rage burned in his heart as a blaster bolt burnt across his chest with his first step forward. He wouldn't need to remove a ring for this, he wanted to kick ass old school style. He took each bolt as they came his way, burning his flesh and charring his armor. But the pain was like a drug, his blood running hot with battle-lust as he called out.
"Take a breather guys! they're all mine!"
Drake picked up speed, charging through the flashes of laser bolts even as they burned his skin and charred his flesh. As his foot hit the ground, he felt them running with him, the warriors that made up the liquid iron in his blood. From the first Hoplite to his father the Warmonger. A million souls crying out for revenge as he planted a flying double footed kick to a spec ops soldier's breastplate, bringing them to the ground and sliding the blade of his sword into the gap between their neck and chest armor, purple blood spilling out as he brought the sweeping cut up, striking the chin of another's helmet before driving the point of his sword directly into their throat. He dove out of the way as a laser bolt obliterated the ground where he'd been standing, herding him into a ring of the spec ops.
Good, just where he wanted to be, up close and personal. He danced through the circle of death, blaster bolts intended to harm or kill splashing against other Geknosians in blinding flashes as Drake carried himself through the barrage on dancer's feet, the steps he'd practice with Cassius allowing him to strike freely. Each strike flowing into another, seamlessly switching between single handed and two handed grips as he leapt up, monkeying onto a spec ops soldier and stabbing his sword's blade into the gap between neck and shoulder all the way to the hilt. Leaping towards another with a manic grin as he saw fear in the eyes behind the visor before the helmet went flying with the head still inside it. Suddenly a Geknosian in ornate armor appeared in front of him, thrusting a saber for his throat.
Drake let the blade skitter off his helmet's faceplate, returning a slash that was parried with a strong low block. Steel rang, clashing and clamoring as the two danced back and forth. One thinking they were meeting their prey in honorable battle, the other fighting like a rabid, enraged beast that had been backed into a corner. The saber snapped under a particularly vicious blow, the Geknosian general just able to register surprise before Drake separated his head from his shoulders. Blood pumping, skin burning as the headless corpse slumped down by his feet. He looked around at the spec ops who still had their guns raised and trained on Drake.
"Grack this! I don't wanna die here!"
One shouted, Drawing Drake's attention as they threw their blaster to the ground and slammed down on their knees, putting their hands on the back of their heads. Drake looked around at the clearly hesitating spec ops and through his manic, uncontrollable grin he called out.
"Anyone else not want to die?!"
Slowly, ever so slowly the remaining blasters were lowered, then tossed to the ground as the two metal buzzards hummed frantically away. Seeing Caz limp to his side with her railgun, he put his hand on her forearm as she tried to raise it to point at the fleeing aircraft.
"Let em go."
"But they just tried to-"
"Some must live to spread the word."
Caz looked up at him for a moment, confused, before a spark of realization lit up her pain filled crystalline eyes as she looked at the surrendering spec ops.
"Prisoners..."
Drake nodded and flicked the blood from his swordblade before wiping it clean on the dead general's crotch flap.
"Prisoners."
He confirmed, looking to charlotte as she slowly clambered to her feet, swaying weekly as she clutched her head. Drake let his smile fall and fade before saying.
"who else needs medical attention."
"everybody but Cassius and Destrier as far as I know, including yourself dumbass."
Drake chuckled and nodded, getting an odd look from Caz as he stated.
"I'll be fine, I'll just pop off a pinkie ring for an hour when we get home."
Caz sighed and helped Drake support the badly wounded Charlotte to the forge building.
"somethings changed about you, and it's not the lack of power."
Drake chuckled and simply responded.
"I don't know, I just feel... better, all of a sudden. Fightings fun again."
"I'm not sure that's a good thing, Drake."
Drake chuckled softly and helped get Charlotte into the forge building without responding.

2024.05.09 19:44 ToWhomItConcern Contrast leader line.

I have tried googling and looked in the AutoCAD forums.....but I may not be search the right words.
In paper-space/sheet print, I have a leader line that lays on a black object. so the part of leader line is hidden on top o the object and is black agaist the white background of the paper. Is there a setting to automatically contrast the leader line against the background/object it is on? (pointing to a small circle cut out in a black, the block must be black to show true color of object)
I guess what I am trying to say/ do is make a leader line that cuts across objects that are solid black have a contrast, I want that portion of the leader line to be white when op top of a black object but become Black again .

2024.05.09 13:23 OmarD1021 Rating my classes I took this year (fall 2023-spring 2024) as a civil engineer.

I just want to say before I start rating the classes that everyone is different in a way, some people find some classes easier than others and I just want to give a rating that reflects on what I think was hardest classes I’ve taken to ones where I think were the easiest. This can give you a general understanding of what you can expect from the class. I’ll also be sharing what professors I’ve had and rate the class on a scale from 1-10 in terms of difficulty and list the from the hardest to the easiest. I’ll also list when I took the class (fall 23 or spring 24), credits hours, core class or not, and say whether it a full semester class or half a semester class.
Alright here are my rankings:
  1. Civil engineering 274 (Statics), core class, 3 credits, full semester, fall 23, professor: Harntaro Wibowo. Difficulty: 9.5/10 All I can say is listen to the rumors about this class. When I was in CE 160 everyone was saying that statics is going to be the hardest class you’ll ever take at ISU, even the TA’s were telling us that. I have always been optimistic and never really thought of it until I took the class. I mean what can I say, first 80% of your grade are the exams and the other 20 is homework, Top-hat etc. Second the material of this class especially in the beginning is kind of hard to keep up with as everything builds up with each other but you do get used to it. When I tell you that you can’t fuck up one exam you really can’t, it’s almost impossible to get a good grade if you fuck up one of them. You’ll have 3 midterms and 1 final, 4 questions on each exam and 90 minutes. The exams are not impossible to solve obviously but they do try to trick you by for example finding the mass instead of weight, unit conversions, and complex wording. Pros about this class is platoons are really helpful for this class (TA’s giving out examples and showing you how to solve them, once per week for 50 min) and if you do go to all of the platoons you do get 2% extra on your final grade. Also SI was helpful as she did give out a lot of examples from previous exams and would recommend going to them. Wibowo wasn’t a bad professor he does recommend printing out the practice example sets before each class because that’s what he goes over the whole class period but I wouldn’t say he is the best at all in terms of 1 on 1 conversations. Also the graders of this class in my opinion are kind of harsh when grading your exams, they can deduct you up to like 5 points for wrong units or wrong answers which I found ridiculous. Overall be prepared for this class, get up to date with 3D related material,Fy,Fx, and moment equations, and a lot of trigonometry.
  2. Civil Engineering 206 (Engineering economic analysis and professional issues in civil engineering), core class, 3 credits, full semester, spring 24, professor: Jon Matthews Rouse, difficulty: 8.7/10 If you told me back when I was applying for this class at the end of fall that CE 206 was going to be hard as fuck I would’ve laughed at you, but holy fuck it is. Firstly I want to get this out of the way, I wanna say that some classes are hard not because the material is hard but because the professor makes it hard. CE 206 falls into that category where the material is basically high school maths with plugging and chugging numbers into formulas but holy fuck does Matt make it ridiculously hard in his exams. Matt is a great guy and an excellent professor (top 5 coolest professors I’ve ever met), gives dad vibes when you meet him, but he is no joke in his exams. Some of his questions are ridiculous where he really tries to trip you up with the wording and his work out problems are really long and tedious. He also admitted that he does plug numbers into a calculator to see where students might trip up (like squaring your answer when you’re supposed to multiply) and puts the number as one of the multiple choices. He also doesn’t post anything on canvas at all which I found ridiculous since the first page of each exam is solving true and false questions, full in the blank, definitions, etc..Oh yeah you only got 55 minutes for the midterm exams, which I found hard to even see how you could ever finish both the midterm exams (especially the second one) on time. His second exam was so bad, 60-70% failed the exam, and had to curve it by 10%. The homework’s weren’t bad but his graders are really tough graders, I mean I never got a full mark on any of the homework’s and I had 13 homework sets. No wonder why this class is the 5th dropped class at ISU, it’s literally impossible to finish both midterm exams on time, graders for the homework are tough, and no room for extra credit (beside doing only extra credit homework but still).
  3. Engineering mechanics 324 (mechanics of material), core class, 3 credits, full semester, spring 24, professer: Oleg Zarechnyy, difficultly: 7.7/10 The content in this class is arguably way harder than what you take in statics but when it comes to grading and overall the class structure, this class is not bad. If you take it with Oleg (great professor) his method of teaching is TBL (team base learning) and the class structure is to watch the lecture videos before attending the class, as what you do in class is 2 top-hat questions on the material you watched at home. He also recommends to do the homework before each lecture but I never did and it was fine. The team you are with the whole semester are picked at random and you sit in the same place during the semester. The top hat questions aren’t tricky but if you did not watch the videos you won’t get the answers right. Each question is about 25 min, the first 12 min you do it alone, then the remaining 13 min you discuss your answers with your teammates and submit them together. You do also submit your answers when you do it alone. Exams are easier than statics exams by a mile, I mean some of the questions they give you the moment of inertia, sometime they give you the forces, etc… basically all the calculations that you might trip up they will give you. The formula sheet is essential to this class, so understand where everything is. There are 3 midterm exams, 3 questions, and 90 min (30 min avg each question), very doable. They never try and trick in any of the questions like in statics and it’s pretty straight forward. The final will have 4 questions but you got 120 min so again doable. You have also 3 homework’s each week due Monday, Tuesday, and Friday on Willyplus. Overall a very doable class (class avg on each exam was about 75-80%) and shouldn’t be hard to pass.
  4. Deferential equations 266 (differential equations), not a core class, 3 credits, half a semester, spring 24, Professor: Domenico D’Alessandro, difficulty: 7/10 Out of the math classes I’ve taken so far at ISU, Calc1, calc2, and Def eq 266, I would say that def eq is definitely the easiest out of the 3 I have taken. This class is supervised by the one and only Steve butler so I already knew it wasn’t going to be batshit hard like the calc department but don’t think it’s a walk in the park type of class. For me this class is all about proving that a certain problem is right by proving it with a set of equations. What I like about this class is 3 things, first and most importantly is that the exams are fair not ridiculously hard like the calc exams but not easy to the point where you didn’t have to study, second you could theoretically not attend a single lecture like I did 99% of the time and just go to the quiz review (more on that in a moment) and try and understand what they are talking about (which wasn’t hard to comprehend) and do well enough on the quizzes to be ready for the exams, and thirdly there’s a fucking formula sheet thank god. If it wasn’t for the formula sheet I promise you this class would be 10x harder cause you do need a lot of equations for this class. Exam wise there will be 2 for 266, 6 questions each, and 75 minutes, which I think is fair considering some questions are really easy and fast to solve and some do take time but I wouldn’t say it’s like a 20 minute question more like 7-8 minute question. For me quizzes were the best as like in calculus you have a weekly quiz 25 min, 2 random questions from the practice quiz you have to solve, and as I said if you go the quiz review and understand what is happening it’s Literally a free 10/10. Exams are 60%, quizzes are 25%, Homework are 12% (you only need to do 3 questions form the sample set to get full credit), and the remaining 3% is basically free points if you do the weekly review where it asks how are doing in class, recommendations, etc. overall very doable class with a lot of chances to get a good grade as he does drop your lowest 2 exam questions, 1 quiz, and 4 homework sets. I can’t tell you if the professor is solid or not as I rarely went to class besides doing the quizzes but from what I gathered he is ok.
  5. Statistics 305 (Engineering statistics), not a core class, 3 credits, full semester, spring 24, instructor: Troy Meyers, difficultly: 6.7/10 This is the exact reverse of CE 206, the content here is hard, in my personal opinion, but Troy makes his exams really easy. First off I wanna say that Troy is one the funniest professors I’ve ever met, he tells us cool and funny stories, he really wants you to succeed in this class by helping and asking questions, and he really is passionate about statistics. The material is hard but his exams are literally the example material he posts on canvas along with of the homework questions. I mean if you can memorize the practice material on canvas you’ll be just fine as most of the time he doesn’t even change the numbers in the exam (keeps it the same). The first 2 exams were really easy, the third exam I failed it just because I stoped going to lecture and didn’t even go to the exam, but the avg was really high just don’t be a dumbass like me, the final is recycled material from the 3 midterms along with questions from post 3rd exam. The homework is really easy if you understand what you are doing. Honestly this class could be hard if you don’t take it with Troy. Oh yeah DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE! I heard they make the online sections of this class ridiculously hard, just take it with Troy he teaches like 7 sections of this class, so you should find more than enough seats to be in his sections.
  6. Chemistry 167 L (chemistry 167 lab), not a core class, 1 credit, full semester, fall 23, Instructor: Krishna Suresh, difficulty:6.2/10 This class for 1 credit is absolutely bullshit. Firstly the “professor” for this class is named Sarah Pistolesi but you never actually meet her or even talk to her ever, even if you tried to send an email she will never respond. So what you have is a post graduate instructor and about 15 other students in a laboratory doing chemistry. What I was hoping for this class is to do dope ass chemistry experiments and overall have a chill and easy time but nope this class is the literal definition of aids. You do about 13 experiments throughout the semester and I would classify 1 experiment as cool and rest absolutely ass, you have to do a fat ass report on your experiment, and you also have 3 in class experiment exams throughout the semester, you have a pre lab quiz, post lab quiz, and post lab EXAM each fucking week (all online though). I mean all that for 1 credits is insane and they weren’t easy quizzes or exams nah they were the ones where you actually had to read the lab manual thoroughly and do the labs precisely to do well on them. The pain in ass really was the lab reports, some of my lab reports were like 8-13 pages long as they ask you a shit ton of questions about the experiment you did that week along with a review on what you did, you had to make graphs from excel, and solve stoichiometric questions which as I said before is insane for a 1 credit class. I mean I put more effort into this class than fucking Calc 1 and that’s not even a joke. Now the instructor (Krishna Suresh) is really cool though and does understand our pain for this class I mean this was her first time teaching this class and was astonished by the amount of work you had to put for 1 credit. She did her best and did sometimes allow us to go early because for some reason there is no fucking chairs to sit on and the lab was 3 hours long so you had to stand up to 3 hours straight with no breaks at all. Smh that class was a joke on god and unless you are a chem major you aren’t going to get an A on this class, also some of the questions were ridiculously hard to solve unless you know chemistry for real for real.
  7. Speech com (Speech communication), not a core class, 3 credits, full semester, fall 23, Professor: Michael Wettengel, difficulty: 5/10 Out of all the classes on this list this class is the dullest class I’ve taken so far. In fact it’s so dull I can’t even tell you how the grades were distributed because he goes off by points, and not by percentage but what I can tell about this class is that you have to put effort into your speeches. In this class you will have 3 major speeches, 3 or 4 mini speeches, lots of homework, and in class activities. For your mini speeches all you have to do is write a speech 2-4 min long on a index card-s and read it to your fellow classmates, obviously it’s not that straightforward as you need to come up with the plot and stuff but that wasn’t bad. For the major speeches you had to make a PowerPoint for your first two speeches along with references and research to prove on what you are taking about and obviously a rehearsed speech you have to prepare and present to the class. You got a lot of homework you have to do but honestly they were just stepping blocks for the presentation and speech you were going to give for your major speeches so it wasn’t bad. Finally the in class activities weren’t bad but they were silly especially at the beginning. Oh yeah for this class you have attend as there is attendance points and also for the in class activities you had basically each class. The main speeches were an informative, persuasive, and special occasion. The first one (informative) was in my opinion the most annoying one as you had to do a lot of research for your topic along with pictures, slides, references, etc. The second (persuasive) was actually not bad as you would want to keep the same topic from the informative one and just persuaded on why your topic is important. For the third one (special occasion) it was the easiest as no research was needed and you can really talk about anything you want. For the first two speeches you had to get your topic approved by the professor but the third one you don’t have to as long as you and another class mate aren’t talking about the same topic. Michael wasn’t a bad professor at all, he actually made the class quit fun it was just the material and over overall speech com is boring. He is a tough grader though and does take the speeches seriously and will deduct points accordingly to the speeches rubric. Honestly the only reason I give this class a 5/10 in difficulty is the amount of effort you have to for this class and not because the material is hard.
  8. Civil engineering 170 (Graphics for civil engineers), core class, 2 credits, full semester, fall 23, professor: Stuart Nielsen, difficulty 4.25/10 What made this class instantly easier than the rest of the civil engineering classes is that the class is online and even if it wasn’t I think it would easier than the other civil engineering classes. Firstly no exams in this class which is already great, secondly it’s easy to follow up in this class meaning you don’t have to watch the lecture videos multiple time to understand what’s happening you can watch it once and easily see what he is talking about. There are 12 homework sets, and 2 projects that’s it. The homework sets are: first 2 weeks you do sketches, 2D, and 3D drawings with building objects. You also learn how to draw thing on a side view, top view, etc in 2D and 3D. The next 5 weeks you will use AutoCAD learning how to use it and using its tools, a bit surveying, etc.., then 1 week to do the final project on AutoCAD which is literally what you did on the app for the last 5 weeks compressed into a final project. The the next 5 weeks you do Revit which was actually really fun in my opinion, you learn how to design and build a building on Revit, floor plans, put objects, sceneries, etc…, and then 1 week to the final project which was basically to build a house with a few requirements. Honestly this class is really easy and I would say the hardest thing about this class was the AutoCAD final project was a bit tricky but once you get used to AutoCAD it’s only honestly cake. Revit is in my opinion easy and simple to understand, its tools are not complex and the rendering on the app is great. Stuart is a great guy and although you don’t really meet him he does put a lot of effort into his videos and does respond to emails.
  9. History 202 (Introduction to western civilization), not a core class, 3 credits, half a semester, spring 24, professor: John Monroe, difficulty: 3.6/10 I never thought I would enjoy learning about history and this class did not disappoint. It’s a fun class to learn about European history (Napoleon, French Revolution, WW2) and John’s videos are fun to watch. It does get boring sometimes but that’s when some of the history was boring but I wouldn’t say I slept or anything like that. You do quizzes weekly but honestly if you do watch the lecture videos then you shouldn’t have any problems. You might not take an A on this class as some of the questions are detailed (you need to read the questions carefully) but you will definitely enjoy the class.
  10. Anthropology 230 (globalization, and the human condition), not a core class, 3 credits, half a semester, fall 23, professor: Sedi Azirani, difficulty: 2.8/10 Im going to make this short and simple, watch the lecture videos, do the weekly quizzes, do a essay every 2 weeks, review the course for the final exam, take the final exam and you’ll get an easy A. The only tricky part about this class is the essays as you have to watch a video (usually there will be 2 to choose from) get a reference source and write an essay about the video topic. Quizzes are easy if you watch the videos and look at the slides, and the final exam is easy if you review the material. Honestly an easy A.
  11. English 250 (written, oral, visual, and electronic composition), not a core class, 3 credits, full semester, fall 23, professor: Paul Kimumwe, difficulty: 1/10 If you have taken any english class from ISU you should know that they are an easy A. I put literally 0 effort into this class and still got a 98% on it. You literally do 4 or 5 major essays of your liking as long as you follow their simple requirements and you do 1 power point slide towards the end of the semester explaining your future plans with your degree and I would say thats about it. I mean the only way to fail this class is literally not to submit anything but you really do need a free A from time to time to boost your gpa and luckily this class is a requirement for any degree you take here.
Final thoughts:
This year, I tried to get out of the way the bullishit classes like my SSH electives, and the easy classes so I can get to the good stuff in the future without a annoying and unnecessary class that I’m forced to take that literally isn’t a engineering class, so I would say that this year was a smooth sailing but probably won’t be next year as I’m going to take some tough ass classes. I hope I have given y’all some insight to these classes if y’all ever gonna take them especially for future Civil engineers.

Many linguists think that IE adj. in -no- and -mo- all came from *-mno-, derived from nouns in *-m(o)n-. One collection of related ideas (Nikolaev 2021) is, in part:

  1. IIr. nouns in -man- show *CmnV > CmV / CnV by regular sound change (drāghmán- ‘length’, ins. drāghmā́)

  1. whether -m- or -n- appears does not have clear cause (Nikolaev argues against a labial in the root being responsible)

  1. when a m(V)n-stem is the second part of a compound, it becomes mo-stems (kárman- ‘work’, vīrá-karma- ‘whose deeds are manly’)

  1. several of these are seen outside IIr., though not clear in some branches (G. spérma > áspermos ‘seedless’)

  1. it is not regular for the 1st part of a compound to show the same n-loss, but analogy caused it in both (G. akmó-theton ‘anvil post’)

  1. other n-stem words show the same, even when not mVn-, likely analogy or a related sound change (Skt. ukṣán- > mahokṣa- ‘large bull’)

  1. these changes depend on tone: *Cmnó > Cmá / Cná, *Cmno > *Cṃno > Cana (*wésṃno- > Skt. vásana- ‘clothes’, G. éanos)

There are problems with most parts. Though many apparent counterexamples could be due to analogy, they add up. On the whole, the existence of nouns in -o-, -on-, -mon-, -non-, -mo-, -no-, etc., seems likely to be produced by original o-stems that produced derivatives that were n-stems; some happened to contain *-mo-, thus make *-mon-, not the other way around. Just like any other noun, mon-stems might have formed derivatives in *-mno- (a few likely examples below), but saying they are the source of so many words in -no- and -mo- is not reasonable, especially with little evidence and no set of regular changes that can account for all data. Also, -to-, -ton-, -ko-, -kon-, etc., do not seem likely to be produced by original *-T-m(o)n-. That this is both clear and not claimed by proponents of *-mon- > -mo- / -no- removes any theoretical need.

Nikolaev’s examples contain *-imno- > -na- (*praHimán- > Skt. premán- ‘love / affection’, ins. preṇā́), though if *ymno counted *y as a C, it would not matter much. However, since he also has *bhuHmn- > bhū́man- ‘world’, ins. bhūnā́, the timing makes it less likely that these happened at a stage that could be interpreted as *praHimán- = *praHymán-. Also, adj. in -no- and -mo- appear after V’s, both -ino- and -imo exist with no special meaning, and all could come from *-imHo- / *-iHmo- (L. maritimus, opīmus, etc.) with optional *mH > *nH (remember that supposed *Cmno > Cmá / Cná is also not regular, and there is no way to avoid this). Some examples of IE words with -(i)no-:

PIE *peyH1- (Skt. páyate ‘swell’, pī́van- ‘fat’) supposedly created *poH1mo- > L. pōmum ‘fruit’, but instead *poH1imo- is needed, since cognates show both *o: and *o(:)i (the god(esse)s Pōmōna, Pōmōnus,Vestinian Poimun- (Poimunien ‘in Pomonium?’), Umbrian *Pōimōno- > Puemune). This is not likely a result of only this word happening to have an uncommon suffix *-imo-, but that *poH1imo- / *poH1mo- shows that the loss of *-i- was happening at the same time as the loss of *H, leading to either *-oi- or *-oH-. Others in Note (1).

Other objections to each part (keeping in mind that each is not meant to be certain or prove the whole theory wrong by itself):

  1. *Cmno > *Cṃno > Cana does not apply in compounds (*vīrá-karmna- > vīrá-karma-), though this could be due to *vīrá-karmná-, etc., and later simplification

  1. if words like G. áspermos came from a sound change, why would G. have other -Cmno-?; if G. dáknō ‘bite’, dagómenos ‘weak’, dágmnos ‘pitiable’ < *dánk-m(e)nos ‘worn down’ were due to analogy, *-Cmno- > -Cmo- would have to be very early and its presence in many IE would suggest it was of PIE date or immediately after breakup, if regular (this contradicts several other points, also see below)

  1. there are just as many good old-looking examples of n vs. 0 in both parts of compounds; why is one regular and the other not?

  1. there is no reason to think words like Skt. mahokṣa- require a sound change (ukṣán- > *maha-ukṣán- could exist, so there is no preference for the existence of intermediate *maha-ukṣná- > mahokṣa- instead of a rule of grammar changing stems directly); u-, i-, and C-stems often become o-stems in compounds, and o- > i- or yo-stems; whatever the cause, 5 or more sound changes make less sense than suffixes that replace the ending, rather than change it (and analogy might have extended this alternation, even if some were really produced by a sound change to begin with)

  1. there is no evidence that Skt. vásana- ‘clothes’, G. éanos, etc., came from *wésṃno- instead of *wésano-. Though PIE *a is seen as rare or conditioned, many suffixes could be reconstructed with *-(a)no-, with *-a- often lost (like i/0 and u/0 above):

*dH2p-ano-? > G. dapánē ‘expense’
*dH2p-no-? > L. damnum ‘expense/loss/harm’ (not *dapumnum if from *-mno-)

L. daps ‘(sacrificial) feast’, *dapno- > ON tafn ‘sacrifice / sacrificial animal’, Arm. tawn ‘feast / festival’ (likely the same as above, also no evidence for *-m-)

*weranaH2- > Arm. geran ‘timbebeam/log’
*wernaH2 > OIr. fern ‘alder’, Alb. verrë ‘white poplar’
*werno(s)- > G. érnos ‘young sprout’

The most important problem is that comparative evidence shows that *Cmn did not become Cm / Cn at all, at least not directly. If Nikolaev’s stages were real, the changes in *g^h(e)i- > Skt. hinóti ‘urge on / throw’, Arm. jgem ‘throw’, *g^heimon- > Skt. hemán- ‘eagerness’, Av. zaēman- ‘active / awake’, zaēni- ‘eager’, zaēna- ‘*swift / *thrown > *arrow > weapon’, etc., would require *g^heimn-í- = *g^heymn-í- > *g^heyn-í- > zaēni-. However, the words cognate to zaēna-, including loans, show -u- and *-w- in *dzainu > TB tsain ‘arrow’, pl. tsainwa, Arm. zēn ‘weapon/armoharness’, gen. zinu, NP zin ‘saddle’, Kh. *hēwna > *hīwn > hún ‘saddle’. Instead of *-w- appearing from nowhere, *mn > *wn makes the most sense, and fits other optional changes (Celtic *k^Hatu-welH2mon- ‘warleader’ > *-welxǝwon- > British Catuvellauni, Cassivellaunus ‘name of a warleader’, W. Caswallawn / Cadwallawn, Vellaunus ‘a god’, *akamn- ‘stone’ >> L. acaunamarga ‘red marl’, Arm. (2)). If there were, instead, a u-stem *g^heymn-ú- >*zaēnu- with exactly the same meaning as zaēna-, it seems unlikely it would happen to be the only one borrowed into Arm. and TB both, and be unrelated to supposed metathesis in *hēnw- > *hīwn > hún. Loans often show features lost in the donor languages (and Kh. is a Dardic language, a group that retains many archaic features, and is at the periphery, another type that commonly shows otherwise lost features). Another loan from IIr. might be the source of *zaymna > *zaymma > *zymama > Aramaic zǝmāmā ‘reins’, Arabic zimām.

If a u-stem existed here, it would also not be able to account for the same type of change in a word that only sounded the same, with no reason for a u-stem: *g^heimon- ‘winter’ > G. kheimṓn, Av. zaēn-, etc. If IIr. words with -(m/w)-n- are needed in both words pronounced *g^heimon-, a sound change *m > m / *w̃ > w / ũ near n would be the best solution (reasonably, it would be optional based on the data):

*g^heimon-to- > Skt. hemantá-s, *haywanta- > A. haywaán ‘winter’, pl. haywandá, *hyamanda > *yOmOnO > Kh. yomùn, *yawanō > Sh. yṓno

*g^himno- > Skt. himá-s ‘cold / frost / snow’, Kh. hím ‘snow’, Pashayi hīm, *híṽ > *híw̃ > Ba. hiũ, Id. hī̃, Sh. hín, Gurezi hinn, Savi hina, Pj. himma

*dwi-g^himno- ‘2 winters (old)’ > L. bīmus ‘two years (old)’, *dvi-zivn > Wg. düzun-zālǝ ‘heifer in its 3rd year’ (Skt. śatá-hima- ‘100 years old’)

It is easy to see that m and w alternated when separated from n, thus *mn > *mn / *ṽn > nn / mm / etc. (including many cases where *C disappeared and created long V, *himn > *himm > hīm (as in himma where non-final)) should be clear. Turner reconstructs many of these words with *-mn- (even when cognates in Skt. have -m-) or plain *-n-, seeing -n(n)- as analogy (and/or << snih-) but no reasonable analogy could produce all the other variants (or is needed, based on hemantá- ~ haywandá, etc., when no analogy with a word with *-w- is possible). No fully regular set of changes can describe all data, but the basic alternations are clear if unpredictable. Knowing that *-mn- / *-ṽn- existed when seen between V’s shows that this should be expected for *-Cmn- as well, with the outcomes -Cn- / -Cm- matching *-mn- / *-ṽn- > -mm- / -nn- (both apparently optional). Just as much of the variation is clearest in Dardic, it also has many other examples of m / v from all types of *P (3).

The need for nasalized *ṽ in these stages (Whalen 2023) is also seen in words in which *m- > v- in some, but sometimes also -r- vs. -n- in the same, requiring *m-r > *ṽ-r > *v-r̃ / *v-n :

IIr. *mṛgá- ‘game, horned (deer), (large) bird’ > B. mirig ‘deer’, Ba. múgur ‘billy goat’, Kh. mùru ‘female ibex’, Iran. *mǝrǝγa- ‘bird’ > Ps. mǝrγǝ´ / murγǝ´ / marγǝ´

IIr. *mṛg-iska- ‘small bird’ > Iran. *mǝrǝγiška- > Mz. mička ‘sparrow’, NP Arak malič, Hamadan milič, Mj. braγiko
IIr. *mṛg-iska- ‘small bird’ > Iran. *mǝrǝǰiška- > *ṽǝrǝǰiška- > *vǝrǝčšika- > Ni. girišig
*ṽǝrǝǰiška- > *vǝr̃ǝǰiška- > *vǝnǝǰiška- > MP vinǰišk, NP NP gunǰišk, Bl. jinjišk
*ṽǝrǝǰī > *vinji > OKho. biṃji- >> TB *wiñcä- > wiñcaññe ‘of sparrows’

Though these words are kept separate by others, vinǰ- / virǰ- / *mirǰ- / mirg- in ‘sparrow’ when mirg- ‘bird’ exists makes these stages needed Having 3 (at least) separate words that are so similar, with vinj- having no clear origin, seems pointless. Note that *-gi- > -ǰi- is the regular outcome, but as shown by *gWemtu- > Skt. gántu- ‘course/way’, Av. jantu-, analogy could restore or retain K based on cognates (when the relation was clear, thus when *m- > v- no restoration from mirg- ‘bird’).

Notes
(1) Ex. of -i- vs. -0-, showing that -ino- was older than -no-, thus not caused by *-Cmno-:

(2) mn / wn in Arm.; though Martirosyan says that *-mo:n > *-mun > *-mn > -wn is regular, otherwise *-mon- > -mun-, there are many examples of optionality, both *mn > wn and *wn > m(n) (not counting *-nn > -mn in atamn, etc., if really later than *-mn > -wn):

Iran. *pari-štaH-man- >> Arm. paštawn ‘worship / service’, pl. paštamun-k‘

2024.05.07 11:54 Woodstovia [Eye of Medusa] The Iron Hands betray the Raven Guard

For context the Forge World Columnus sits in the path of a massive Ork Weirdwaagh led by the powerful Ork Psyker Zagdakka. The Raven Guard have engaged the Waagh and have been harassing it to give the Forge World time to prepare its defences. When Clan Raukaan of the Iron Hands, led by Captain Kristos: a powerful and accomplished Iron Hands warleader renowned for his embrace of logic arrive to bolster the defences victory seems assured. However, as the Orks assault the fortress factory of Urdi the Iron Hands refuse to reinforce the defenders.
This excerpt is shown through an Iron Hands marine accessing a bank of data that allows him to relive the battle which is why there's a part mentioning some data being restricted. I think this excerpt is very interesting for showing a major incident within the Iron Hands when they were at their lowest point in-lore.
Having harried these orks for every metre they took towards Urdri, Stenn knew that this was no ordinary invasion.
He had heard in dispatches of the psychic energies that flowed through their Gargants – weapon grids, shields and piercing uncanny augurs – and that brought their lumpen drop ships to ground still. He had heard too of the court of warpheads with which the self-styled warpboss, Zagdakka, surrounded himself, and had lost two squads of his most experienced Scouts in a failed attempt at thinning their numbers. He saw now with his own eyes the weird energy that flowed through these greenskins in their battle-madness like some manner of psychic connective tissue, the brawn and sinew of some gestalt ork that drove them unto death with a single, overriding will.
The fire discipline of the Raven Guard and their mortal allies slaughtered greenskins every minute by the hundred, but they didn’t seem to care, hurling themselves recklessly against the Imperial guns as though possessed. Not that the blasted Iron Hands would allow for the slightest deviation from their precious calculus. Stenn sneered, his pistol emitting a final hiss as coolant jets sprayed from the weapon’s muzzle and the vents locked. He thumbed off the safety and selected rapid fire. He could teach the Iron Hands a thing or two about logic.
‘Kristos, you honourless shell, I’m talking to you.’ He raged into the vox as he seared the heaving mass of orks with plasma. Too soon, heat warnings blinked red on the pistol’s side and he was forced to flick back to vent. ‘I need reinforcements and I need them now. Now, Kristos! I want a creeping artillery barrage walking outwards from the outer wall over the southern highway and I want aeronautica backup. Kristos!’
‘Captain,’ shouted Yavid. His company standard-bearer was on one knee behind the low wall and blazing into the horde with tight semi-automatic bursts of his pistol. He jerked his beaked helm towards the wrecked loading yard to the northeast of haulage depot 764. Stenn looked to where his brother pointed.
A squad of Iron Hands Centurions, almost as well camouflaged as the Raven Guard themselves in their huge black warsuits and perfect stillness. Their hurricane bolters were unloaded and pointed at the ground or at walls, whichever direction they had happened to be facing when the strange malaise of inaction had taken them.
Stenn regarded them with fury. The few Iron Hands he had seen had been that way, ever since the unexpected psychic onslaught had levelled the south wall outright. At first he had wondered if it was a secondary effect of Zagdakka’s powers, but the Raven Guard and their mortal allies were unaffected. Yavid had a replacement eye as well as a bionic arm and he remained functional, as did the crew interfaces of their vehicles. As did the damned skitarii.
‘Kristos!’ he roared down the vox again, knowing he wasn’t going to be answered, but determined that his last words be heard just the same, even if it were only by a comatose machine. ‘And he had the nerve to tell me that the Raven Guard dragged his primarch down,’ he growled to Yavid. ‘Corvia, but I hate them. You hear that, Kristos? You think it was coincidence that found us both in the vicinity of this world? We too heard Dawnbreak’s mortis cry. The second one, the one they sent after you abandoned their world to the eldar!’
An ork ran at him. He tore its head from its shoulders with a slash of lightning claw, then incinerated two more with precise blasts from his pistol. With the meaty clash of butcher’s work, the bangs of bolter-fire diminished as orks thundered into the thin line of Space Marines. The Rhinos’ storm bolters flashed; the thudding reports dissolved into the meat of chainblades and knives and primal screams. Assault Marines leapt into the air on bursts of thrust, flung back to earth as though on elastic cords to send orks flying. Lightning claws sizzled and cracked. He was aware of men fleeing, skitarii jerking as they were cut down, but the melee had swallowed him whole.
All the feints and tricks and stratagems that had delayed the Weirdwaaagh thus far were done. Now it came down to the strength of his arm, the artifice of his armour – kill orks until there were no orks left and pray to the Throne that enough men survived to hold this line when it was done.
It was what failure looked like.
...
The Centurions moved!
There they were, silent as the blown-out repair shops through which they came, ghosts of the machine bound forever to a doomed cycle of destruction and repair. The firepower of the Centurions alone would have ripped a hole into the ork horde as wide as the gates of the Ravenspire, but six full squads of Tactical Marines also moved up through the rubble behind them. They spread out, taking fire-positions just beyond the chokepoint where Stenn’s efforts held the orks at bay.
What were they waiting for?
He saw a pair of hellfire Dreadnoughts lumbering into position either side of the smaller Centurions, and then heard the weary collapse of a pockmarked stretch of rockcrete as the glacis plate of a Redeemer pattern Land Raider drove through it. Its sponson flamestorm cannons traversed to track the flows of the ork horde, liquid promethium dribbling to the rubble floor. Stenn cursed as he punched his lightning claw through a charging ork’s ribs. Never expect an Iron Hand to commit until he was good and ready.
‘What are you waiting for?’ He shot an ork in the face as it made to barrel towards Yavid, and found himself in the sights of the nearest Iron Hands squad.
They had bolters locked and aimed, but for some reason held their fire. Their eye slits shone an ephemeral white, but they could have been decoy suits for all the urgency they showed. ‘Shoot, curse you!’
[Zagdakka's psychic powers begin to assault the Space Marines]
An ectoplasmic limb twice the girth of an armoured Space Marine manifested from the random snaps of energy and smacked down on a Raven Guard that had been about to deliver the kill shot to the ork at his feet. Stenn strained as his own adversary’s brute strength slowly pushed him towards his knees. The ork gave a roar of surprise as another great fist snatched it away and hurled it through a rockcrete wall. Stenn too cried out as, for the first few seconds of flight, the ork’s grip on his arms took him with it. He hit the ground like a grenade dropped from a Land Speeder, and clattered through wreckage until his helmet smashed into the keystone at the base of an ablutorial block and he was lumped bodily against the wall. He groaned.
Gauntlet fingers crunched through the rubble as he drew his hands under him and began to push. Then he looked up. He swore as the confusion of contradictory threat markers suddenly parted around the black shape of the Rhino that was somersaulting towards him. He dropped back to the ground, body flat, feeling the tremendous shift in air pressure as the tank turned overhead and smashed through the ablutorial wall like a rock launched from a trebuchet.
‘Kristos,’ he coughed. His helm’s respirator seals were damaged and blast debris from the demolished building was making his breath catch. ‘Engage, damn it.’
Screams penetrated the death haze. Urgent signals through vox and data-link lent it a crackling, chopped-up dimension: red lit, threat markers circling with malign intent. He discharged his pistol, full charge, then screamed aloud as something grabbed his ankle and dragged him through what was left of the ablutorial. He bumped and slid over broken tiling and then put another wild shot through a standing column as he was turned upside down and pulled into the air.
A greenish coalescence had him by the leg. A flurry of short-lived plasmic tendrils burst from his pistol, and through the force that held him as though it were a hallucination. He fired until the weapon emitted shrill overheat tones and then he fired once more.
The pistol exploded in his hand, a newborn star about half a metre across that turned his arm to a crisp and buckled his plastron with the ferocity of its birth. Yelling in delirious fury as bio-implants flooded his bloodstream with clotting factors and powerful neuralgics, he activated his jump pack. It roared, shuddered madly for several seconds, then burned out, having moved him nowhere. The force around his ankle hardened into the clear form of a fist as it dragged him over the battleground until he hung upside down in front of an enormous greenskin wreathed in psychic flame.
The ork regarded him quizzically through a pair of green-tinted goggles. It was encased in war plate of white bone, arcane sigils of alien design daubed in pink using, or so Stenn’s Scouts had reported, the mashed brains of its human captives. Its helmet was made of scrap metal and buckled tightly under its chin, a single massive spike coiled with razor wire rising from the crown like some breed of antenna. Green energy spat from the coils and swirled in the lenses of its goggles. It watched him writhe as it would a worm on its claw.
Stenn gave a grunt of pain as psychic fingers tightened around him and squeezed. ‘Damn you >> RESTRICTED DATA >> Just kill me yourself.’
His armour cracked like a sea-crustacean’s shell, blood spurting from ruptured seals as his body was crushed. He screamed, genhanced anatomy fighting a battle with pain that had been stacked well against it from the outset. ‘Emperor forgive you!’
With every scrap of conscious thought locked away in hardened centres of his brain structure he cursed the Iron Hands. He cursed the casual brutality, the bare calculation of risk versus reward. His last thoughts before those final redoubts succumbed to braindeath were not of the pain, nor of his brother Raven Guard that fell to the mind-blasts of the warpboss’ retinue, nor even of the Iron Hands themselves as they finally descended on the fray.
With the enemy leaders bottled up with the last of the Raven Guard, the Iron Hands opened fire. Tactical Marines, Centurions, Land Raiders, each warrior a cog in a war machine that sprayed fire to a perfectly choreographed maelstrom that consumed Warpboss Zagdakka, his retinue, the Raven Guard, and Stenn himself.

2024.05.07 07:22 AlienBurnerBigfoot Awakening to a life where my mother can no longer hurt me.

It's been a weird time for me in the past two years. My mom died, then 6 months later my sister died. Then in January, my dad died. Their passing has awakened memories of childhood that I had blocked. Dark, ugly memories of so many traumatizing events. I am completely alone now and struggle with the resentment I carry for the many ways I was terrorized, physically and sexually abused, humiliated, shunned, ignored, brainwashed, belittled, ostracized, criticized, and bullied by my mother.
I can see that the world is open to me in a way it never was before since she is no longer here to hurt me. And yet, I still struggle with a lifetime of conditioned fear. I'm paranoid that she is in the spirit world watching and disapproving of my choices still. I don't even believe in life after death but she brainwashed me from infancy to where I never knew anything else so I still default to that fear.
When my mom died, I grieved her loss but also grieved for the fact that she never once acknowledged or apologized for her treatment of me. She was highly controlling, demanding complete obedience from me as a little girl. She was never consistent, which put me in a constant state of fight or flight mentality. The whole family walked on eggshells around her because the simplest thing could trigger a terrifying outburst from her, for which I would be blamed. I am now very conditioned to read the tiniest shifts in a person's demeanor as a result, and often feel I am responsible for calming things down. Relationships with others fail because I am so distrustful and hide myself. I have struggled with self-loathing throughout my life.
The hundreds of ways she harmed me are too much to write. And those are the things I do remember. I know I blocked out a lot more. It comes back in bits sometimes.
Today, ugly memories came to the surface and I spoke some of them out loud, as if I was telling someone else. I was horrified at what I was saying about the things she did. She had no boundaries whatsoever. She was devoutly religious and demanded that I obey her beliefs. So I also struggle with having a spiritual practice without being triggered.
The past few days, I have been working to depersonalize my parents house in anticipation of selling it. I regularly come across things that remind me of being a child and it can knock me into spells of crying. But taking down all her dated, cheesy decor, putting it in the back of the truck and taking it to the dump today felt good. I hurled those dusty fake plants and dried flower wreaths into the garbage chute as hard as I could. I thought about how much money she and dad spent on themselves over the years. I thought about how much money they freely gave to my brother and sister and their kids while forcing me to incur debt to pay for college. They were never concerned with my education or future and didn't bother coming to my graduation. I had to move a state away for 20 years to escape her nonstop intrusion into my adult life.
So here I am. I found this group today and, reading others posts, I know that I am among survivors who have braved a treacherous life on their own. Our scars are there but we're not alone. Hopefully we can jointly find healing together and move into a life we truly want and deserve.

2024.05.04 22:07 Crushing_Blow Tales of Ragnarök Chapter 31- Duel Queens

Tales of Ragnarök Chapter 31- Duel Queens

Did you get the title pun?
Did you get the title pun?
The Snow Queen went for another swing, which Snow White danced out the way off. Snow White parried another swing and then went for an attack of her own, stabbing her blade towards her opponent's abdomen. Instead of bothering to dodge the Ice Goddess just let the attack hit her. As soon as it hit, the blade simply vanished. Capitalizing on her opponent's confusion, the Snow Queen swung straight for her head. Snow White dodge out of the way, but it was much less graceful than earlier. Snow White lost her footing, and the Snow Queen swung a flurry of blows to capitalize on this. Snow White continued to shakily dodge, before the Snow Queen used her gavel to sweep her foes legs.
Snow Queen-"Using a blade of Ice against the Goddess of Ice was a foolish decision." She rose the her gavel overhead, and as she did a hole opened up in the center of the weapon's back. A brilliant green light came flying out of it, causing the swing to rocket down with amazing speed! When the attack landed the light exploded, creating a nearly blinding lightshow.
Aurora Judgement!
The attack slammed the Fairest of them All into the frozen ground. Those who supported the Ice Goddess were in awe of the magnificent attack.
Monster-"Damn, that was a good one! But wasn't that fire?" The Queen of the Fae shook her head.
Titania-"Not fire, light. She doesn't just control ice, but all things cold."
Dracula-"In other words, in her gavel she created the conditions to produce the "Northern Lights", then shot out all that light in one burst. Quite the flashy attack, especially for the resident Ice Queen!"
Monster-"The science on that is...non-existent but I'll roll with it I guess."
The Gods in the stands were in awe as well.
Jack Frost-"Woah~! That was a strong one! I wonder if that human was able to survive her majesty's blow?"
Ice Twink!
https://preview.redd.it/32k2xzvqqgyc1.png?width=787&format=png&auto=webp&s=c8faf36cc62c3a74a11bb4b5750c33cb92c9b598
If only using Fairy Tales, the Reaper is not death personified.
Grimm Reaper-"Hmm...I don't feel that human's time has come." Jack Frost rolled his eyes at his fellow spectator's dull tone.
Jack Frost-"Geez, no need to be such a buzzkill. Still surprised Death himself isn't on our Roster..." The Reaper shrugged.
Grim Reaper-"I am merely a guide for souls. The Ruler of Permafrost twas a far better choice than I."

The mortal audience was concerned by the attack, but they all knew one thing in their hearts. That the fight would not be over so quickly! The Snow Queen did not intend to let up, quickly slamming her weapon towards the downed Queen. Snow White quickly used her hands to shove herself off the ground, summersaulting out of the way. She was covered in ice from the Snow Queen's attack, but she seemed unbothered by it. The ice was spreading, so as she dodged out the way of another strike she began to sing again.
Snow White-"Freezing me wouldn't be very nice, so now I'm done dealing with ice!" As she sung, the ice that clung to her disappeared.
Prince Charming-"Yeah, you got this Snow! Show that goddess what you can really do!"
https://preview.redd.it/c75hrhs5rgyc1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bfc194daaa90e87da4a9fbf5bce3ee5b113c1f23
All Seven Dwarves would join in on this chant, shouting varying encouragements of their own.

https://preview.redd.it/alawufumrgyc1.png?width=1179&format=png&auto=webp&s=35393ee63670f839a3f1fea1e9ddd12cd9ef9626
Snow White grinned as she turned around to grin and give a thumbs up to her audience. Despite no longer being able to see her opponent, she ducked a strike aimed right at her head. Instead of turning around, she casually started chatting to her opponent with her back still turned.
Snow White-"Y'know your tune's pretty unique! It's like all quite but tense, but then whenever you attack it turns into some metal rock song! It's a pretty cool song though!" The Snow Queen blinked in confusion.
Snow Queen-"Did-Did I give you a concussion?" Before Snow White could answer, the Snow Queen once more slammed down her gavel. Snow White dodged this attack as well, before she turned around and started humming. The Snow Queen started unleashed a flurry of swings, which Snow White managed to dance out the way of. As she danced, her humming got louder. As her humming intensified, she slammed her fist into the gravel mid swing, cracking it. Immediately after, Snow White started to dance, doing a spinning move that had her raise a leg in the air while twirling herself with the other. As she did, her humming reached it's loudest. Before the Snow Queen could raise a defense the Goddess was kicked on the right side of her face with enough force to send her crashing into the arena walls!
Crescendo Aria!
The arena went silent for a moment. Snow White looked where she had kicked her opponent, cocking her head in confusion.
Snow White-"That felt more like kicking a wall of metal rather than a person..."
Sun-"You talk like you have kicked a full wall of metal before..."

Rumpelstiltskin-"With just a kick the Snow Queen goes flying! Snow White is definitely no damsel in distress!" As the crowds shouted and cheered, one of the two in the mortal's VIP box marveled at the strength of humanity's current champion.
Dorothy-"Damn! I really thought Snow White would be a fragile magic user, not someone who could kick the Snow Queen of all Gods across the arena!"
Oz-"Ah, the joys of getting a champion who actually has experience using magic! Her magic melodies and her own physical prowess should be enough to fell even the (potentially) 2nd strongest God!"
The Snow Queen quickly picked herself up, gently rubbing the cheek that had been kicked.
Snow Queen-"Annoying."
Snow White-"Aw, no need to be rude! Anyways, you're pretty awesome aren't you?" The Snow Queen readied her gavel, before looking at Snow White with a neutral expression.
Snow Queen-"What are you talking about?" Snow White tried to make eye contact with the Snow Queen, but the Goddess moved her own glance slightly upward to avoid this.
Snow White-"I mean, that light burst attack you did was so cool! How did you do it?! I thought your powers were just ice!" The Snow Queen sighed before raising her gavel.
Snow Queen-"What an inane question. If you really expect an answer-" The Goddess interrupted her own sentence by swinging her gavel, launching a could gust of wind at the human queen.
Frozen Gust!
Snow White spun out of the way of the wind, but the gust was extremely fast. The attack graved her finger, and this small touch was enough to nearly giver her frostbite.
Snow Queen-"-then why don't you disclose your own powers first?" The Snow Queen created several more Frozen Gusts, which Snow White spun and danced out the way off, smiling the whole time.
Snow White-"Well, if you insist! It's kind of simple-" She was caught off guard by a gust of wind aimed straight for her head. She barely ducked out of the way.
Snow White-"Woah, rude! Fine quick summary, when I sing magic happens and it's called Magical Melodies! Also I can see people's souls as songs, and my Stigma lets me use Magical Melodies without destroying my throat. Now, what can you do?"
The Snow Queen continued to silently attack, but as she did she had come to a slight revelation.
Snow Queen-'That's actually fairly shrewd. She mostly told me things I had figured out myself, and due to the broad range of her power it doesn't help much anyways. She might be a problem.' The Goddess sighed, before deciding to switch from ranged attacks and going back to engaging with melee. She threw the gavel forward at Snow White, and while the human dodged an ice version of brass knuckles materialized on the Ice Goddess' hands. She threw an uppercut with her right that landed square on Snow White's jaw.
WHAM!
For a woman of her frame The Ice Queen's raw physical strength was deceptively strong, even for a divine being. Her punch was staggering, and just from the sound alone it was clear the punch was painful. The Snow Queen took this opportunity to unleash a flurry of punches. Their fighter taking the clear advantage for the first time, the Gods started loudly cheering.
Titania-"Hell yeah! Beat her ass!"
Snow White recovered quick enough to dodge some of the blows, but many still hit her. The pain of each punch felt like breaking a bone and suffering from frostbite at the same time, and her face made the pain she was feeling evident. Despite this she was able to focus enough to sing, not stopping even while being hit.
Snow White-"You're making it hard to be bemused, so now it's your turn to get bruised!" After singing a pair of gauntlets appeared on the human Queen's hands, both having a heart design in the center. She slammed her fist into her opponent's, and the two women started an all out brawl. Fighting through the pain of the previous beating Snow White took a more defensive style, while the Snow Queen was far more aggressive. Snow White was able to block the more aggressive attacks, but the Snow Queen was able to dodge all of her counters. The two were once again deadlocked.
Rumpelstiltskin-"With Snow White's cautious defense and the Snow Queen furiously fast offense the two fighters are locked in an even brawl!
As the two continued to try to pummel each other, the Snow Queen's eyes lit up as if she just remembered something.
Snow Queen-"Oh yeah, I was supposed to answer your question wasn't I? My ability is called Frigid Sovereign. I can create and completely control ice." Upon hearing this explanation, Snow White held back a laugh.
Snow White-"Oh, so we're the same!"
Snow Queen-"In what way?"
Snow White-"I mean. we both suck at naming things! My magic is basically called magic music and yours is just a synonym of your name! Attack names could be such a pain!" The Snow Queen blinked, before scoffing.
Snow Queen-"Don't get me started. I can never just have a cool attack, I've got to name then to. Everyone else comes up with creative names, most of mine are literally just descriptions of the attacks. I have exactly one creative attack name."
Snow White-"I know right?! Like, why can't my cool moves just go unnamed?" The Snow Queen nodded her head in agreement, before her eyes went wide. She finally realized she started to have an inane conversation with the woman she was supposed to killing. She feinted going for another uppercut, before summoning her gavel to hand and swinging it down. Snow White jumped out the way, but when the gavel hit the ground a spike of ice formed from right below Snow White, hitting the off guard Queen with such force that she was sent flying into the air.
Ice Fang!
The Snow Queen then threw her gavel in such a way that it ended up behind Snow White.
Dracula-"Oh, she's setting something up!"
Oz-"Here it comes..."
This time the Snow Queen would call herself to her gavel instead of the other way around, appearing right next to it. Instead of attacking with it she reached her hand out towards her foe's mouth as the two began to fall. She grabbed, and cover Snow White's mouth with ice. The Ice continued to spread, threating to engulf Snow White completely.
Snow Queen-"Farewell." However, something shocking, seemingly impossible even, interrupted the attempted death blow. Despite everything, Snow White was singing!
Snow White-"Sorry that's a lie, it's not time to say goodbye, for I'm not about to die~! I won't fall to your ice control, don't you know music comes from the soul~?!"
Upon finishing her song, the ice around Snow White shatter instantly! Though this took her gauntlets with the ice, she was otherwise unharmed. The Snow Queen was briefly stunned in shock by this. It was then she noticed that despite being in midair neither of them was falling. She looked down and saw both of them were just floating in the air...like they were ghosts. The face the Snow Queen made upon realizing this was one of pure shock.
Snow White-"Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. If I sing a longer song I get more effects or stronger effects. My bad!" She snapped her fingers and they both started to rise, before the effect wore off. As soon as it did, the human Queen grabbed her divine foe and flipped her over, wrapping her hands around her stomach and putting her head between her legs before once more let out a tune.
Snow White-"Now it's time for you to become a diver, so get ready for my piledriver~!" The two were immediately wreathed in flames and rapidly descended.
Rumpelstiltskin-"Piledriver! Piledriver!"
Dracula-"Come on, break out! Break out!"
Monster-"Break out!"
Titania-"Break out Snow Queen!"
Oz-"Come on, bury her! Bury her!"
Dorothy-"Put her in the damn dirt!"
The two crashed into the floor in a fiery explosion.
PILEDRIVER!
When the arena was visible once more, Snow White was on her feet, standing on the somehow still frozen arena floor. The sheer impact of the piledriver imbedded the Goddess into the arena. She quickly pulled herself out and started rubbing her next.
Snow Queen-"Ow. That would have snapped most people's necks." Snow White stared at the Snow Queen before speaking.
Snow White-"Your skeleton is frozen solid, isn't it?"
Snow Queen-"Your quite perceptive."
Snow White-"I mean it felt weird earlier when I kicked you, but the piledriver gave it away. That move should have caused your head to move on impact, but your whole body went rigid instead."
Snow Queen-"Good for you." The Ice Goddess cracked her neck before saying just one word.
"Unchain." At once, multiple chain of ice shot out of the Goddess. They all were posed behind her, as if they were readying to strike.
Titania-"Already using it huh?"
Monster-"About time I'd say."
Dracula-" Ijskettingen, the frozen chains. I wonder, how will that human respond?"
Watching from his own quarters, one God could only laugh at seeing Ijskettingen. He himself had one arm binded by a frozen chain.
https://preview.redd.it/fist32q5ugyc1.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b370c9da0e63f25da3c2b74530a79c8f7a68375
Djinn-"Ah, so Queeine is finally using those chains! Best of luck little human, those things are a pain int the ass for me!"

The Snow Queen called her gavel to her hand once more. Snow White looked at the frozen chains nervously. She could feel that they were supremely dangerous, but she was not sure why.
Snow Queen-"Well the, I'd like to see you get out of this."
Snow White-"I'm sure I'll find a way!"
End of Chapter
Finally! What did you think? It took forever to settle for a dynamic for this fight. I went with Shonen because it would be funny. Anyways, I hoped you enjoyed!

2024.05.04 11:33 Bro_TeresaOfCalcutta COGO points markers exporte as AutoCAD points entity

Dear citizens and colleagues of Civil 3D :D
I always thought that when I exported a DWG from Civil 3D to AutoCAD format, the COGO points markers were exported as a point entity and not as a reference block. When I talk about markers I'm talking about basic markers with a cross or an X. Is there any way to create these AutoCAD Points when exporting?

2024.05.03 10:33 Erudax The Confessarii and the Followers (CH14 Spoilers)

Disclaimer: I didn't know how to deal with "阿喃那" or localize it, so I want with "Ananna". Chances are HG will localize it to something entirely different anyway, so until then, enjoy the pineapple, I suppose.
14-11
Salus: ...They're catching up.
Salus: Dear Qui'saršinnag, are you amongst them?
Salus: Who will be the one to take the throne... you or the leader... our beloved father?
Salus reached out to the drop of blood above the altar.
The originium burned, and the souls roared.
Under the influence of ancient witchcraft, her fingertips quickly turned into burnt black crystals.
Salus: I really want to see it.
Salus: The origin of our suffering is already so close.
Confessarius Guard: You-
Shining: You hid well.
Shining: It took me so long to find you...
Confessarius Guard: Traitor!
Confessarius Guard: Damn it, how many of us you killed along the way?
Shining: ...No more than the first time I escaped.
Confessarius Guard: That time, the underground laboratory got filled with the corpses of our people.
Confessarius Guard: You caused the leader's visit to the Royal Academy of Science to almost be in vain. With such a big ruckus, the Victorians were almost made aware of our plan!
Shining: I'd rather he failed.
Confessarius Guard: Ha... this isn't what you said before!
Confessarius Guard: How can you pretend to be an agent of justice? It was you who gave us directions back then!
Confessarius Guard: Outside of Londinium, there are so many caves holding experimental facilities... which one isn't your responsibility?
Confessarius Guard: At that time the leader spent most of his time in Kazdel. You were the one leading the research. You were a mask and looked exactly like him-
Shining: At that time, I didn't have a choice.
Confessarius Guard: No choice? What about your words when you dragged us to Londinium and placed these masks on our faces?
Confessarius Guard: We were just mercenaries at the start, but believed in the Confessarii, and believed in your words about the "Sarkaz's original and final path"!
Confessarius Guard: The sins we were born with - the sins inflicted upon us by those invaders - will all be washed away.
Confessarius Guard: Was that a lie?
Shining: ...
Shining: I hope it wasn't a lie.
Confessarius Guard: That's true, it shouldn't be a lie. Every time the leader makes a promise to us, he is sincere and never breaks it. And so should you, Qui'saršinnag, even if you went astray.
Confessarius Guard: The leader and the regent are about to succeed.
Confessarius Guard: The freedom and power that have been lost for thousands of years will soon be returned in the hands of all Sarkaz.
Shining: ...
Confessarius Guard: If you want to kill me, do it.
Confessarius Guard: Go to the leader, to your father.
Confessarius Guard: At the end of that road, he's waiting for you. They're all waiting for you.
Confessarius Guard: You'll see that future for me, for each of us... each soul that fell under your sword.
Shining: ...
Shining removes the guard's mask.
She remembers the face. He was amongst the first group of mercenaries brought to Londinium by the Confessarii.
They didn't know anything at first, and their responsibilities were solely excavating ruins outside of the city.
The young man also expressed his gratitude to her in person, thanking the Confessarius for giving them a well-paying and safe job.
But soon, she couldn't hear them speak those words any longer.
The leader of the Confessarii came to Londinium.
The mercenaries hanging around chatting, drinking and playing games were no more. They all wore indentical masks and wouldn't speak unless necessary.
They had no special bloodline, and Qui'sartuštaj shouldn't have been able to bend their will easily.
But that willpower of theirs still died before the grand ideals of the Confessarius.
And it was she that led them to their death in the first place.
Shining: This sin...
Shining: ... should stop here.
The mask cracked, its shards stinging Shining's palms.
She continued walking towards the top of the mountain.
14-12
"Mother": Qui'saršinnag...
"Mother": Qui'saršinnag.
"Mother": Mom is here. Don't be afraid, mom just has something to talk to your father about.
"Mother": Haven't you always wanted to go outside our house and take a look?
"Mother": Just like that blue-feathered fowlbeast in your favorite story... You wanted to become that feathered beast and fly high up onto those soft clouds.
"Mother": You will do it, and you should live free.
"Mother": Don't worry, my favorite child...
"Mother": ...Mom will get you out of this.
"Father": Qui'saršinnag.
"Father": Stop hiding, I know you are here.
"Father": When she came to see me, you followed her in secret. You witnessed... all of this. Good.
"Father": Don't be scared of the sight of blood. You'll see more in the future.
"Father": Will I die?
"Father": Of course, dear. You see, the sword has pierced my heart. It won't be long before the blood in this body will run dry.
"Father": Your mother... wanted to leave me because of some delusions, and wanted you to also leave me...
"Father": But how could that ever be possible? Our souls are already bound together, and we will never be separated.
"Father": Go ahead, kid. Touch your mother... do you feel it? The pulse in her body.
"Father": This is the power of life, the cycle of our lives. And after such reincarnations again and again, our lives will eventually become perfect.
"Father": I will always be by your side, we...
"Father": We... will never be separated.
"Daughter": ...
Confessarius: Dear Qui'saršinnag, you don't seem happy.
Confessarius: Didn't the experiment go smoothly? After several tests, the container's response was perfect.
"Daughter": What will happen to her once the ritual is completed?
Confessarius: Her? You mean... the container?
Confessarius: At the time of its birth, its soul was already broken.
Confessarius: The leader studied for a long time to mold a pure white consciousness into a cage, so that he could deceive the "Lord of Fiends".
Confessarius: When the power of the Lord of Fiends will be transferred to you, the container will become useless.
Confessarius: If you'd like, you can dress her up like a doll, or take her with you wherever you go. It's kind of like a souvenir. I like it.
"Daughter": You shouldn't worry about the way I'll handle it.
Confessarius: Ha, you've always been rude to me. You don't want to see her again? Then throwing her away is fine. Or... you can send her to me.
"Daughter": Leave. Don't ever set foot into my laboratory without permission ever again.
Confessarius: Why are you... angry? It seems to be a big difference between your temper and the leader's. But don't worry, you'll soon become just as gentle as he is.
Confessarius: I wonder if I'll ever miss you...
Confessarius: Farewell, Qui'saršinnag.
"Daughter": ...
"Container": ...
She looked at the girl lying on the stone bed through her mask.
The work wasn't finished yet, and her father wouldn't permit any delay.
This altar, this laboratory, and the bloodline she was born in were all her prison. Her sorrow and pain are meaningless in the face of the thousand-years mission of the Confessarii.
Her hands and feet were not under her own control, but rather were extensions of her father's will.
She couldn't stop, couldn't leave this altar where life and death were toyed with, and couldn't put down the soul-carving sword in her hand.
Suddenly, a drop of water fell onto her hand.
Who is the one crying... her, or the supposedly unconscious person on the bed?
"Qui'saršinnag."
She raised her head in a daze and saw a blue feathered fowlbeast flying through the sky outside the cave.
There are cracks in the cage.
A consciousness that shouldn't exist, longing for a freedom that it couldn't have.
Hope is born from this.
The Confessarius and the Pure White Vessel.
Qui'saršinnag and Liz.
Shining... and Nightingale.
Qui'sartuštaj: I heard a restless clamor.
Confessarius Guard: Don't worry, leader! There are only a few enemies that broke into this place.
Confessarius Guard: They want to destroy the altar and prevent the ritual.
Qui'sartuštaj: Just send someone to clear out those annoying insects.
Qui'sartuštaj: Surely this time I won't need to take action myself, right?
Confessarius Guard: How dare-
Confessarius Guard: We'll remove every obstacle for you.
Qui'sartuštaj: Aha...
The leader of the Confessarii looked at the girl in a white dress lying on the bed of stone. She was sleeping peacefully, barely breathing.
Nightingale: ...
Confessarius Guard: The originium arts of the "Container" are very stable, and the ritual will be completed soon.
Confessarius Guard: "Ananna" is only one step away from opening the way to our souls.
Confessarius Guard: You will surpass the Lord of Fiends, replace the lost souls, unify the will of all Sarkaz, and become the father of all Sarkaz!
Qui'sartuštaj: Our thousand-year journey finally comes to an end.
Qui'sartuštaj: But before that, I need to join hands with my blood relatives so that we may witness this together.
Qui'sartuštaj: You aren't late, sister.
Qui'sartuštaj: I have been waiting for you.
Kal'tsit: We don’t have much time left, and the Confessarius' altar is very close.
Amiya: Mr. Logos helped us break through the Arts of the Confessarius. I can also feel that the aura here makes people very uncomfortable...
Dialogue option: Are we going to fight our way in just like this?
Dialogue option: Isn't there a secret passage leading to the altar or something?
Kal'tsit: Time no longer allows us to slowly come up with a solution.
Kal'tsit: Although risks cannot be ignored, rational risk-taking when making decisions is equally important in wartime.
Kal'tsit: Fortunately for us, the Sarkaz also put all of their troops onto the frontal battlefield, and the only ones we need to deal with are the Confessarius' men.
Dialogue option: Theresis must have trusted Qui'sartuštaj.
Dialogue option: Why is the Confessarius responsible for the ritual of "Ananna"?
Kal'tsit: In Kazdel, the Confessarius plays many roles, including the Lord of Fiends' advisor, bodyguard, and tutor.
Kal'tsit: The Confessarii travel among the royal courts, always obsessed with exploring the history of Sarkaz and studying the power hidden in bloodlines.
Kal'tsit: Before Theresis took over Londinium, he had already planned to use the Shard to control Ananna, and there must have been the help of the Confessarius.
Kal'tsit: And Qui'sartuštaj's plan to usurp the "Lord of Fiends" is also inextricably linked to "Ananna".
Dialogue option: What is the relationship between "Ananna" and "Lord of Fiends"?
Kal'tsit: Qui'sartuštaj wanted more than just the crown.
Kal'tsit: Thousands of years ago, Qui'sartuštaj also possessed the power of the Lord of Fiends.
Kal'tsit: Although he couldn't see the whole picture, he must have felt the Lord of Fiends' ability to influence others.
Kal'tsit: "Control". The more you experience the feeling of this absolute power, the harder it is to resist its temptation.
Kal'tsit: Whether it is Theresa or Amiya, Qui'sartuštaj has been secretly watching every successor of the Lord of Fiends for a long time.
Kal'tsit: The obsession with power made Qui'sartuštaj resort to insane means of extending his life just to regain that lost power.
Kal'tsit: There is only one thing that can allow him to achieve this goal.
Dialogue option: ..."Originium".
Kal'tsit: Yes.
Kal'tsit: By directly utilizing the influence of the "Originium" on the Sarkaz, Qui'sartuštaj will be able to gain control over the entire Sakaz race, far beyond the Lord of Fiends.
Dialogue option: Shining and Nightingale...were also his victims.
Kal'tsit: Their resistance gainst fate never stops...especially at this critical moment.
Dialogue option: We must prevent "Ananna" from having unpredictable effects——
Dialogue option: We must stop the Confessarius from harming Rhodes Island operators——
Dialogue option: Now it's the time to act.
Shining: ...Qui'sartuštaj.
Qui'sartuštaj: All of us were waiting for you.
The leader of the Confessarii smiled as usual and spread his arms to welcome the people below, as if he was ready to hug his child who had returned home not long ago.
On both sides of the mountaineous road, dozens of Confessarii stood quietly.
The eyes behind those masks were submissive and eager, completely ignoring Shining who just walked up the stairs covered in blood and holding her sword.
Shining: I'm here to kill you.
Qui'sartuštaj: I know.
Qui'sartuštaj: How could I... not know?
Qui'sartuštaj: Many years ago, my mother came to my father and me just like this.
Qui'sartuštaj: She had always known her mission and never thought of disobeying me.
Qui'sartuštaj: But, as she grew older, she began to tire of our family, tire of the love I gave her... and the mission of the Confessarii.
Qui'sartuštaj: I don't blame her, and I don't blame you. You are all the same, you just made a small, forgivable mistake.
Qui'sartuštaj: I will always accept your return.
Shining: You are a monster and deserve no such thing as love.
Qui'sartuštaj: Love and hate, life and death, all are one.
Qui'sartuštaj: The souls of the Confessarii are passed down from generation to generation, connected by the same ritual. This is how I give love to all my family members.
Qui'sartuštaj: The soul is cleansed of impurities in death and rebirth. With each death, we approach the perfect original once more, the purest form of individuality.
Shining: There's nothing about that that's even remotely... perfect.
Shining: Qui'sartuštaj, the real you has been dead for thousands of years.
Shining: The hero of the legend of the white-horned Sarkaz, that defeated countless powerful enemies and built an immortal Kazdel under the reflection of dawn and dusk - died long ago.
Shining: The one in front of me is a despicable person who lives in the shadows, a coward clinging to life, afraid of death, someone who sacrificed countless innocent lives for his own survival.
Shining: Who is tarnishing the soul of that hero now?
Shining: It's you, usurper king - when you chose to seek immortality in such a twisted way, you are no longer worthy of the crown you want.
Qui'sartuštaj: ...Maybe.
Qui'sartuštaj: Qui'saršinnag, sister.
Qui'sartuštaj: I, who have all his memories since I was born... know what kind of past Qui'sartuštaj's life carries better than you.
The leader of the Confessarii took a step down.
He looked at Shining and calmly took her hand, which was shaking with rage.
Qui'sartuštaj: I'm aware of the blood on my hands, and I remember the love I received.
Qui'sartuštaj: When my mother just died, it was you who picked me up all bloody.
Qui'sartuštaj: We are a real family, we have the closest blood, and we have spent a lot of time relying on each other.
Qui'sartuštaj: Whatever nature my soul might be, this cannot be changed.
Shining: How can you... talk about it like this...
Shining: You... who killed my brother?
Shining: Who doomed him, a child that should be loved by his mother, from the start?
Qui'sartuštaj: ...That's me.
Qui'sartuštaj: For thousands of years, Qui'sartuštaj... died again and again from the betrayal of his loved ones.
Qui'sartuštaj: You can think of it as punishment, if you will.
Qui'sartuštaj: But... does that matter?
Qui'sartuštaj: You say I'm not worthy of the crown, but besides me, who can lead the Sarkaz better in their quest for survival?
Qui'sartuštaj: Quillon lead the clan to a path of no return, and Eresh's hiding in a corner only made us weak.
Qui'sartuštaj: Even the brother and the sister only caused the Sarkaz to fall into futile internal strife and let the crown fall into the hands of invaders!
Qui'sartuštaj: The Sarkaz... need a true Lord of Fiends, an eternal Lord of Fiends.
Qui'sartuštaj: And I will reach the starting point of our suffering, and purge all the sins of the Sarkaz alongside the sins of Qui'sartuštaj's bloodline!
Shining: ...
Sin.
That word alone made Shining even angrier.
Her father, her brother, were both possessed by this undead monster - and her mother, even herself, all lived in the shadow of this monster's madness.
Let him live, or kill him, both are curses.
There was no way forward.
There was no way backwards.
And yet she couldn't help but stand where she was.
Qui'sartuštaj: ....Oh!
Qui'sartuštaj: You... took action.
Shining: ... I will kill you.
Shining: Then...
Qui'sartuštaj: And then kill yourself?
Qui'sartuštaj: Is this your way of breaking the bloodline?
Qui'sartuštaj: Pathetic.
Qui'sartuštaj held Shining's sword in his hand.
Blood dripped down the pure white blade and stained Shining's hand.
Her very soul was trembling.
Shining: -Uh-huh!
The irresistible force flung Shining to one side of the crystalline tree.
Sharp black branches ran through her abdomen.
Blood gushed out and mixed in with Qui'sartuštaj's.
The ancient tree trunk, which had long been transformed into Origin Stone crystals, actually bloomed with pure white brilliance.
In just an instant, countless tiny lights appeared on the top of the tree.
All the Confessarii began chanting
All the souls will bow down.
Knocking and howling at the door, the visible usurps the invisible.
Imprisoned in the dark with a black crown, the transgressor is eternally innocent.
For the kings were born before immortality.
Qui'sartuštaj: See, even with such a wound, you won't be infected at all - such is the power of the bloodline that you keep on resisting.
Qui'sartuštaj: Qui'saršinnag...I still haven't lost my patience with you.
Qui'sartuštaj: If you are still stubborn and unwilling to accept everything that belongs to you - mission, power, and glory.
Qui'sartuštaj: That's fine, just stay aside obediently and let me...complete this ritual myself.
A crown made of thorns emerged from his palm.
The moonlight shines on the crown and also illuminates the crystal tree at the end of the steps.
There was a stone bed covered with dead branches, and the most familiar figure Shining knew was curled up on the bed.
Shining: Liz......
Shining: ... Wake up.
Qui'sartuštaj: Don't bother.
Qui'sartuštaj: Her consciousness is not where you think it is.
Shining: She is within the Crown.
Qui'sartuštaj: That's right.
Qui'sartuštaj: I promised you that I would mend her soul.
Qui'sartuštaj: When you put on this completed black crown, you will be together forever.
Shining: Together forever...in your cage?
Shining closed her eyes.
She strained to imagine...imagine the years she had spent with Liz.
They ran hand in hand through the woods.
Together they stepped across the cold stream.
She carried a tired Liz on her back on her way home.
Liz made a small wreath and put it on her head.
A small blue feathered fowlbeast followed them all the time, singing happily above their heads.
It lingered, searching - and landed next to the sleeping white Sarkaz.
It didn't know why Liz fell asleep, and anxiously pecked her cheek with its small beak.
Until a black arrow pierced it.
The fowlbeast disappeared, and only a blue feather fell on Shining's shoulder.
Qui'sartuštaj: Enough.
Qui'sartuštaj: You clearly know that it was not her dream.
Shining: Even if it's just a false memory...
Qui'sartuštaj:: Since it is false, why not use your authority to shape her memory again?
Shining: Lizzie...just Lizzie.
Shining: She should have been free. I will never carve her soul out of my mind again.
Qui'sartuštaj: That's wishful thinking on your part... Qui'saršinnag, my fragile and dreamy child. You are the blue feathered fowlbeast, longing for freedom but imprisoning yourself instead.
Qui'sartuštaj: I have clearly prepared everything for you, a perfect body, and eternal authority. All you have to do is accept it——
Qui'sartuštaj: But you betrayed me, you gave up everything that belonged to you, for what? What did you get?
Qui'sartuštaj: You disappoint me so much.
Shining: ...A new life.
Shining: After leaving you, I got a new life.
Shining: Not as the Confessarius Qui'saršinnag, not a puppet of the bloodline...
Shining: But as Shining…
Shining: ...As a member of the Followers.
Blue feathers touched her wound.
The subtle pain woke her briefly from the paralysis induced by her blood.
Shining: Come on.
Shining: The time is... now.
Shining: Find me. Find the tree.
Shining: If it's you...
Shining: Then it can definitely be done.
A hole appeared in the crimson clouds.
The sunlight pours in without stopping-
Everyone's vision is getting brighter and brighter.
Confessarius Guard: That's-
Confessarius Guard: Whatever it is, hold back-!
Confessarius Guard: The ritual has begun, we can't let- ugh! There's no time to stop them!
Light.
Light and mist filled the air.
The sun falling down from the sky beat back the cold moonlight.
Margaret:-
Margaret: Sorry, the storm was too strong before, and it took me a while to get my bearings-
Margaret: How are you?
Margaret: Do you need a helping hand, Shining?
Shining: ...You don't have to.
Shining: What I want to save... is Liz.
Shining: And... stop Qui'sartuštaj.
Shining: Lend me your power-
Shining: Dispel this shadow before my eyes.
Margaret: Good.
Margaret: Then we'll go together.
Margaret: I'll illuminate the way forward.
14-12 After
Shining: ...
Margaret: You're here.
Shining: ...Nearl.
Shining: It's rare for you to return to the landship. Why don't you spend some time with Liz? She misses you.
Margaret: She just fell asleep.
Margaret: You, on the other hand, look more exhausted than before.
Margaret: Are you worried about Liz? I asked Dr. Kal'tsit and she said that Liz's condition is stable-
Margaret: Is there... is there something you aren't telling me?
Shining: I always wondered if... there is a way to "cure" Liz once and for all.
Margaret: You have been working on this for many years and it cannot be done overnight. Don't be so harsh on yourself.
Shining: What if... I said that the cure was always there, but I simply didn't dare use it?
Margaret: ...Shining.
Margaret: What are you hiding? Can't you tell me?
Shining: ...
Shining: Nearl, this is my mission, and mine alone.
Margaret: ...You think Liz and I will simply leave you?
Margaret: You know very will that will not happen.
Shining: My concern... was always that you would get hurt.
Shining: I have decided to make memories with Liz. I will be with her... until the moment the truth is revealed, but if...
Shining: Nearl-
Shining: When that time comes, I need you to protect Liz for me.
Margaret: I know.
Margaret: But Liz isn't the only one I will protect and fight alongside with...
Margaret: Shining, I will fight for you too.
Shining: Um...
Margaret: We have always been companions. The Followers are one.
Margaret: My oath remains unchanged-
Margaret: As long as you need it, Margaret Nearl and her swordspear will be here for you at any time.
Margaret: Every Confessarius here... is a powerful enemy.
Margaret: Shining, no wonder you don’t want to train against me.
Margaret: We saved Rhodes Island a lot of repair money.
Shining The strongest enemy...is still in front of us.
Margaret: Good.
Margaret: We'll strive for a quick resolution.
Qui'sartuštaj: ...Child's play!
Shining: Careful!
Margaret: Uh-huh.
Margaret: I can handle it.
Margaret: Shining, my shield will cover you.
Margaret: You just have to...move forward.
A torrent of witchcraft washed over them.
Margaret's light was actually suppressed.
Qui'sartuštaj stood at the top of the steps, morning and dusk rolling in her palms.
Qui'sartuštaj: Is this the helper you found? Qui'saršinnag, is this what you think our ritual scene is?
Qui'sartuštaj: A... meadow for horses to race for fun?
Shining:——
Qui'sartuštaj: Oh, her Originium Arts can temporarily block my influence on you.
Qui'sartuštaj: So what? Your swordsmanship, your Originium Arts, all come from me.
Qui'sartuštaj: How can you... hurt me without my permission?
Shining: Ahem—ugh!
Margaret: Slow...?
Margaret: His Arts... works on time perception? Or some other influence...
Margaret: Shining!
Shining: ....I'm fine.
Shining: Your shield...
Margaret: ...This is the first time this new shield has cracks.
Margaret: But it doesn’t matter, I will patch it up with my Arts.
Margaret: A knight's shield won't shatter so easily in front of someone who needs protection.
Qui'sartuštaj: ...A sickening glow.
Qui'sartuštaj: My little pony, Pegasi like you...I've killed countless of them in the past.
Qui'sartuštaj: I smeareded their golden blood on the walls of my Kazdel - making my city seem forever bathed in the glow of dawn.
Qui'sartuštaj: I thought their descendants will understand that Kazdel is not a territory that can be invaded wantonly.
Margaret: …This is not Kazdel.
Margaret: And you are not a hero who protects their home country.
Margaret: Heroes shed their own blood to clear the way for others.
Margaret: But you - only saw that your road to the throne was covered with the blood, tears and bones of others.
Qui'sartuštaj: Hero? I have long wanted to be a hero.
Qui'sartuštaj: Everyone sings their praises, everyone admires them...but it is still as fleeting as sand. No matter how much I dance with time, time will never stop for me.
Qui'sartuštaj: I will die and the city I built will crumble. The people I love will keep on betraying me.
Qui'sartuštaj: This endless cycle... tortures every Sarkaz, and it tortures me.
Qui'sartuštaj: But as a monarch, I have the responsibility and ability to change the fate of Sarkaz right from the point of their suffering.
Qui'sartuštaj: As long as Sarkaz will no longer crawl at the feet of beasts like you, as long as my Kazdel can last forever in countless mornings and dusk——
Along with Qui'sartuštaj's words, all the surrounding light rushed towards his palm.
Margaret's Originium Arts, the brilliance of the other Confessarii's spells, and... the only sunlight filtered by the thick clouds.
The small crown of thorns hanging in his palm was like a dark night that could not be ignored.
Nightingale, on the stone bed also began floating.
Her eyes were still closed, her limbs were weak, but her arms opened involuntarily——
At the moment when the last light is imprisoned, the crown will fall on the head of Qui'sartuštaj.
Nightingale: ......
Shining: Liz...!
Margaret: Shining, follow my light! Go and save her——
Shining: ——
The last ray of light was like a spear, tearing apart the witchcraft barrier along the way.
Shining came to Qui'sartuštaj.
Darkness descended like a cage, and the only light, came from her sword.
It was resting on the blade, flickering traces of soulfire.
Shining: ....Liz.
Shining.: I will give you back what was once taken from you, your true memories.
No wilderness, no woods, no stream ...... And no garlands of flowers.
Just a young girl, huddled in a dark corner.
The whole room is her prison, and she can't tell day from night.
For she was just an empty shell that had been created.
Unconscious and unaware of pain and fear. No matter what witchcraft was cast upon her, she would not react.
Until--
Shining: Because of my obsession with exploring souls... I didn't erase the ones I left behind when I carved yours - unnecessary traces.
Shining: You.... awakened.
Shining: You began to have emotions, to respond.
Shining: The experiment continued and I had to...
Create some illusions. Fill that newborn soul with memories fabricated by those Arts.
Covering up the true and most terrifying parts.
Shining: You'll feel better, I think, at least.
Shining: You will feel that you are truly alive and have had... a little warmth.
No.
Or maybe, as a way to escape.
Getting used to wallowing in those eyes that trusted you wholeheartedly, there was no need to admit how cruel what was done to her was.
Blue feathered fowlbeasts emerged from the darkness.
The huge gray-white eyeballs stared at Shining and slowly shed a tear.
Nightingale:...
Nightingale: Uhm...
The person suspended in mid-air fell slowly.
In the frozen time, Shining and Margaret heard Nightingale's voice at the same time.
Nightingale: I remember, Shining.
Nightingale: You took me all the way out of that dark room... accompanied me everywhere to seek medical treatment...
Nightingale: Then we met Nearl, and the Followers were formed.
Nightingale: We went to many places and saved many people.
Nightingale: You often frown and sigh in the middle of the night...but as long as I open my eyes, you will put on the gentlest tone and tell me the beautiful things I missed along the way.
Nightingale: Nearl tried to teach me how to dance several times, pulling me around and around... When I couldn't spin anymore, you would help me together... and take turns carrying me...
Nightingale: Beside you...
Nightingale: I feel like I can... really fly.
Nightingale: Together, you have made me what I am now.
Nightingale: I am one of the followers...a physician.
Nightingale: I will protect you too.
Nightingale: I will also fight alongside you to cut off the deepest sins and save... those who will be shrouded in eternal night.
Nightingale: This is for the three of us...
Nightingale: ...That is a promise.
Nightingale fell on the ground.
A great light was released from both her body and her staff.
A massive cage manifested and captured the body of Qui'sartuštaj.
Qui'sartuštaj: What-
Qui'sartuštaj: Your soul should obviously be in my hands, why is this cage-
Nightingale: I have a name.
Nightingale: My name is Liz, and I am your enemy.
Nightingale: Qui'sartuštaj, I'm stopping you here... because I disagree with everything you said.
Qui'sartuštaj: You...
Nightingale: Shining, I'm coming...
Shining tightened her grip on her sword.
Margaret threw her swordspear, its tip hitting the crown of thorns spinning in Qui'sartuštaj's hand.
The three of them understood each other's thoughts without mistake.
Qui'sartuštaj:-!
Catch that glimmer of soulfire before dawn and dusk take over again.
The only crack in the long, blood-colored stretch was indeed just around the corner.
Shining: I have found it, the very essence of your soul.
Shining:-
Qui'sartuštaj: ...
Qui'sartuštaj: Qui'saršinnag... you...
Shining: I'm not worried about what this body will become.
Shining: If my will is controlled by my bloodline, then Liz and Nearl will judge me in that moment.
Shining: But I'll never be your puppet.
Shining: I will not conquer or rule for you.
Shining: Until I die, I will live free.
Qui'sartuštaj: Free?
Qui'sartuštaj: Go ahead and try that.
Qui'sartuštaj: Qui'saršinnag, we cannot be separated that easily.
Qui'sartuštaj: Try it, try running away from me... one more time. Let's see how long you'll escape for this time.
Shining: I won't run away again.
Shining: I will give you the one and only eternal death.
Margaret: Shining- back off!
The moon in the treetops rolled off the cliffs, and the ground shook violently as if it were going up and down.
The altar collapsed and golden Originium slurry gushed out of the gap.
A figure walked out of nowhere, without anyone noticing its movement. His speed wasn't that fast, but the next second he was right between Qui'sartuštaj and the Follower.
Kalika: Time to go...
Kalika: ...Your highness.
Qui'sartuštaj: Ha... it's you.
Shining: Who-
Kalika: Follower... yes.
Kalika: In this era where courage is scarce, your light is truly dazzling.
Kalika: We will meet again.
Shining: ...
The figures of Kalika and Qui'sartuštaj dissipated into the ruins of the altar.
The other Confessarii followed suit.
The crown of thorns that was hit by the swordspear suddenly spun and turned into a dark shadow, flying high into the sky.
Shining: ...The Shard.
Margaret: That thing in the center of the storm is... the "Ananna" mentioned in our messages?
Shining: Dr. Kal'tsit and the others... can they catch up?
Margaret: Shining, you... uh, don't feel anything wrong with yourself, right?
Shining: I am fine.
Margaret: The bloodline curse is indeed very complicated.
Margaret: Wait, Liz... Liz!?
Nightingale: ...
Shining: Liz...
Shining: ...No
Shining: Your soul... why is it incomplete!?
Shining: Did you resist Qui'sartuštaj at the cost of tearing your soul apart?
Nightingale: Shining... Shining...
Margaret: I am here.
Margaret: I'll always be here.
Nightingale: Um...
Nightingale: I'm fine with it.
Nightingale: You have protected me for a really long time... this time, I wanted to protect you instead.
Nightingale: I... want to be by your side... forever...
Inseparable.
Margaret: Liz!
Margaret: Let's heal her! Shining, let's do it together!
Shining: ...
Margaret: Shining?
Shining: It would be useless.
Shining: Our Originium Arts cannot heal such a serious soul trauma within this environment.
Shining: From her body down to her soul, Liz was extremely special. She was born by a coincidence, no, I'd rather call it a miracle.
Margaret: Then we...
Shining: Should get out of here first, then plan our next move.
Margaret: Where is Qui'sartuštaj? Are you going to let him go?
Shining: Compared to Liz's safety, his life and death aren't worth mentioning - he isn't important anymore.
Shining: Come on, let's go back.
Margaret: Let's do it together.

2024.05.02 18:41 LordxTx I love my girlfriend, but i don't see a future with her.

Firstly, English is not my first language, and I have little practice with writing, despite reading well.
Ok. It's very difficult to explain clearly without causing any misunderstanding, so, as a strategy to circumvent this, I will be objective in the story telling and put in some topics what i see. And i open an addendum about perception: What i say about me, about my girlfriend and about the changes in both our lives is not devoid of the self-consciousness of an external perception of arrogance, I then ask politely not to think in this way.
Well, we first met because she found me on instagram. After that, we met in almost no time, and things progressed fast. From the beginning I didn't feel a huge chemistry, as if we were dissonant in personality, especially in our way of thinking and express. Her social abilities, in my perspection, are very weak, despite the fact that she is very likeable. Other than that, i don't find her very smart, not exactly in a dumb way, but she's slow in general learning and understanding and can't express herself properly. What happens is that (and here comes the arrogance). In comparison, i don't see someone who can walk by my side, i have the constant feeling that when i can't do, i can't count on her to help me out. My personality and my understanding of the world hangs towards "Fuck it, my life partner must be someone strong; may i become strong to sustain the world, but if my partner is also part of the weight, it make no sense as a partner" (This is a strong sentence, but let's be reasonable, words have limitations, and this is not being said by a machine). Everything is too resumed, and shall i summarize more by examples: I'm a medical student, she's an architecture student, ok, we talk about it with each other, we show interest and both now some things about each other's courses. But her course is more directed to the use of programs like Autocad, revit and etc (which are very interesting and complex, by the way). I absolutely have no expertise on then, obviously, as she doesn't know the action mechanism of an Advil. But constantly i have to go help her to understand her own thing (which would be nice if almost every time they weren't things she spent hours trying and I solved in 2 minutes). I consider myself a smart guy, but what happens is a too much contrast between me and her, so, not because i'm "absurdly fucking smart", but just because she didn't see the obvious. For example, the last thing was just a configuration to show annotations, just clicking on "show annotations always" would do the trick. I said it, she said it was a problem on ploting where the annotations showed on the principal arquive and not on the other ploting tab... the solution was just clicking "show annotattions always" on the other tab... This took me 30 seconds, she spent all morning trying to solve it. She's also a good athlete, she has ashtma, a severe one (Untreated, but i alreadly managed it, and it's getting progressively better, amem). But man, i have a strict plan for my future, i wanna run a marathon, I'm training for that, going up hills, maybe an ultra or something like that, and she absolutely can't come even close (I'm male, taller than her, obviously i'm not expecting her to run at the same pace or be my faithfull partner in a 2 hour timed run, but i see a future where even if i go slower, we would need to stop constantly, and this haunts me... not a problem to wait, but it would be dumb of my part to think that the repetition of it would not eventually discourage me from going out in sport with her, as it is already happening.). I want her best, i fight for it, a truly love her, but at all times, in a conversation, in a run, on learning new thing, o social events... I always see someone who could eventually be a weight... She constantly say i changed her life. It became common for us that i see myself in a situation of doing a lecture to her, and she always hears it with attention. The topics are always something to her to become better (Miraculously, this is something she loves and she always puts effort to accomplish), by the moment, there are cured traumas with her family, she is much more sociable (at least trying), studying much more, she works out like a machine (and this my friend, you have no idea, how such a small girl can be so strong haha) and, most important, she says she is happier than ever... But I'm not.
There is the other part of the story, the part were she is insuperable, almost perfect in every way, beside the incompatibility point. Even if i said "If i need her to help me in something i can't, i'm doomed", I trust her with all my heart, I now i can put my life in her hands and she will never lose it. She, even in not so mature, is very emotionaly stable, she always tries to understand, even if sometimes impulsive. She always hears me, even if sometimes she lacks critical thinking. In other words, she is trustworthy, reasonable (as far as possible), and very focused (In her course, working out...). And the problem comes when we i feel the relationship as her being like a non-thinking puppet without critical learning (I'm am absolutely sry by these words, but that's the reality of my perception. And i truly dislike it). Beside her unreal loyalty, the other things are somewhat not special, even if very good characteristics. She also draws, but again, i draw better, understand art better and blabla. The feel of her not being better than me in anything put me in a situation where i just feel that i couldn't learn from her in comparison of what i could learn with "another one" (to be clear, i repudiate cheating, this one of the big blocks composing what i call "unforgivable sins". The idea of putting a end on the relationship doesn't have to do with finding another person, but with the idea of this relationship being a waste of time for both of us). There is also another compliment (Maybe a perception changing one): In this moment of life, i'm completely fucked up about money, all my time goes to sports, reading, music, college (wich i don't pay, 100% scholarship, she have it also) and, at weekends, her. And she is, as i said, very understanding. In reality, she helps me financially a lot, my good running shoes, my smartwatch and even my smartphone were gifts from her. I also saved some money and gave her running shoes and some other product she needed, but not even close to what she spent with me (I've never asked for, but come on, I'm extremely grateful. I truly believe that my life, in some point, will be what i work for. If this day comes, no matter where she comes to be, i will "compensate" her. I now that things like this aren't done expecting compensation, and this can even be offensive. But i don't care. Right now, in this perspective, i can't give her much, but if someday i can, i will). Well, she's good and tries hard, but even at her best, most of the time she's slow...
Putting in to "topics":
Severe incompatibilities in my perception: Conversation and discussions, social ability, learning speed, talents, critical thinking, general knowledge, sports, motivation and passivity
Things so amazing that i truly believe i would never find someone with these again, not even at glance: Loyalty, focus, good will, sense of justice, open mind and emotional balance.
Anyway, I don't have a specific question. My perception (word I wrote too much) and intentions are obvious. What I truly fear is making the wrong decision... not waiting enough, not putting faith enough, or, by "believing" in her evolution, everything ends up actually being the waste of time that I mentioned. And also, the idea of being with someone because of the probability of being with it's future imagined version is somewhat "sickly". And saying again: I truly love her and want her best, till now, I have no regrets about her. I'm saddened by the probability of a future where she doesn't know where she went wrong, and I'm just finding it insufficient.
Thanks.

Failure when importing cylindrical 3d figures from Autocad (.dwg) to 3dsMax (.max)
Good morning,
I am having an error when importing from AutoCAD to 3dsMax since the cylindrical or circular pieces look like polygons when I render them from 3ds Max. I have followed the instructions on the Autodesk page (https://www.autodesk.es/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/ESP/Geometry-linked-or-imported-from-AutoCAD-as-a- DWG-corrupts-during-import-into-3ds-Max.html) but I'm not getting the results I would like. I am sending you a screenshot of the import options and these rendered cylinders.

2024.05.01 23:56 MetalWingedWolf New to me Troll Technique

On the one hand, talking about it might increase the instances, but on the other, I’m going to mow you down and evac with one fewer surviving helldiver if you start attacking the drop ship.
Did one mission today before going back to life obligations and the team did awesome. All randoms, like 4 deaths total and we picked up probably 90% of all the samples possible.
Booyah, see you at xfil.
Drop ship comes down with 16 minutes left and our #2 has wreathed the ship in flamethrower flames. Lame, but we’re moments from leaving without any pressure from bugs so as long as it isn’t a stratagem nuking us he can have his fun. Then his clip empties and he impact grenades it three times, the last throw was point blank at the cockpit while his shield popped.
Dudes got a vendetta with xfil.
Then we walk into the back of the xfil and it doesn’t sit anyone down. It’s impossible to register that we’ve entered the ship and can leave.
We kill bugs for 5 minutes. Run away from the xfil site. Kill the #2 random before reporting him and while blocking him my game crashed.
It isn’t a big deal, just a note of “I will remember this for next time.”
Leave the dropship alone when you guys are trying to xfil, no joke, I am going to kill any helldiver who fires at my exit off world.
So I’m writing this for perfectly decent Helldivers to read ahead of time and to protect their teams accordingly.

2024.05.01 04:41 WiccanMama Dark Lily Wreath DIY from Phoebe, shops open & stuff on SH island

Dark Lily Wreath DIY from Phoebe, shops open & stuff on SH island
Open unless the flair shows 'Closed' or there's been a communications error. Look at the last screenshot.
If you can pick it up, you may take it away with you. There's a 'farmer's market' west of the airport with spare fruits & vegetables for the taking and the flowers in the middle of the island (past the castle gates) are intended for picking. You can gather shells, bugs, fish (bring bait!), go diving, shake trees, enter buildings, talk to villagers, explore — please just be considerate of other players!
Please do not :
  • block flights
  • leave quietly
  • drop items from your pocket randomly around my island
  • dash through flowers
  • upload ugly designs at Ables
  • give villagers anything other than fruit
  • plant anything
  • otherwise act like a jerk

Phoebe is making a dark lily wreath. The pipe next to the airport goes to her house.

Some of what the Ables have today. GET OUT of the dressing room for flights!

FCFS on limited items in The Cranny. Turnips @ 165.

2024.04.30 18:15 Chips221 [18+][Online][5e][Sunday 4:30 PM PST] Experience a homebrew campaign in Let Chaos Reign

EDIT: Thank you so much for the attention this is getting! I have a lot of responses to sort through, but I'll still be taking new ones until I properly close this post. It'll take me some time to properly consider everyone so please be patient with me. If you haven't heard anything, assume you're still in the running!
Hello everyone! I'm a longtime DM looking to put together a team of 5 or so players for a new homebrew 5e campaign! I'll put a whole bunch of information below for you to go over at your leisure, but please feel free to DM me for more information. Just upfront I'll say that I wish to foster a LGBTQ+ friendly space, and if you have a problem with that than please seek another campaign. Please note that I'm planning on starting this whole thing properly in about a month from now, so It'll be some time before we get into session 1. However, a session 0 to help with character creation is something I intend to offer if the players want it, which is something we'll schedule once we have everyone on the same page.
Introduction
I am a long time DM with around 5 years of experience making my own homebrew campaigns. After a period of not running any campaign I'm looking to recruit of a group of adventurers with which to embark upon a new journey with.
If you find yourself liking what you see here, please send me a DM over Discord or Reddit so we can chat about you joining. My handle on Discord is chips221.
My DM Style
When I run my campaigns I tend to encourage creative usage of game mechanics whether it be for solving problems, dispatching enemies, or roleplaying. I believe very strongly in the "rule of cool" and am okay with rule bending in order to make interesting storylines happen.
Combat and roleplay are each equally important parts of my campaigns, but please be aware that some sessions can be very heavy on either side of the spectrum in that regard. Essentially we may occasionally find ourselves getting into a long drawn out combat encounter that could potentially span the entire time of that day's session, only to conversely enter a period of plot development and roleplay for the next session where not so much as a single attack roll is made. Ideally I'll try to balance these out so as to not have either situation happen too often but sometimes it's unavoidable.
I tend to write quite a lot of lore about the worlds I create, so you can expect quite a bit of optional reading material that you can go through for inspiration about things you want your character to do or places you want to visit.
The worlds I create are filled with equal parts darkness and light. Bad things can happen to good people unless someone is there to stop that from happening. This is all to say that the subject matter of my campaigns can get fairly dark at times. It won't be a constant stream of depression, and I won't harp on about these dark acts in too much detail, but sometimes you'll find that bad things have already happened to good people in this world and you'll have to work together with your fellow players to try to correct those wrongs the best you can.
Most of all I want to be inclusive to everyone whenever I run a campaign. I want to make it clear that I do not appreciate bigotry in any form and if you are the type of person that takes issue with that, then please look for another game.
Rules/Guidelines
Here are some basic rules that I expect my players, and myself, to always follow. If you find you cannot in good faith follow any one of these rules then please look for another campaign.
  1. Be respectful to your fellow players and the DM. This means no racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. Try to be nice to each other.
  2. You must be able to reliably attend sessions, every other Sunday at 4:30 PM PST / 6:30 CST / 7:30 PM EST, for around 4 hours per session perhaps more or less depending on the circumstances. I understand if you can't make it occasionally, that's fine, but if the mentioned timeslot is looking iffy for you then perhaps you should look for a campaign that fits your schedule more.
  3. You must be at least 18 years old to join. I'm sorry if you're 16 or 17 and looking for a game to join, but this just isn't the one for you. There won't be any real sexual content or focus on such content in the campaign, this is just to ensure a base level of maturity from the players.
  4. We will be using Discord for voice communication and Foundry VTT for rolls, in-game visuals, combat, etc. You do not need to have experience with Foundry, but I will ask that people are able to use voice chat and communicate comfortably with others.
  5. No ERP. This isn't the place for that.
  6. Try your best to keep out of character drama to a minimum, and keep in character drama within the confines of the game. Nothing another player does during the game should be construed as an attack against you personally and if you find yourself believing there to be a problem brewing between you and another player, please bring it up to me before you decide to confront the other person so that I can help mediate the issue.
  7. Be honest with me about your feelings surrounding the campaign. I cannot improve or fix any issues you have if you do not let me know where I'm not meeting your expectations. I never get mad or hurt about concerns or criticism people have, you can be completely and brutally honest with me about your experiences. Just try to be constructive about it, okay?
  8. Don't be afraid to roleplay. We're all here to have some fun and create interesting stories, that's hard to do if people are sitting in the voice chat completely silent wondering if someone else is going to speak. Just have fun with it, don't worry about it too much, and go with the flow. Of course it may be difficult to balance that with not wanting to hog all the airtime, so to speak, but I'm sure we can all work together to figure that out.
Character Creation
  1. We'll be using mostly standard 5E with the inclusion of homebrew enemies, spells, and magic items. Any 5E class is allowed.
  2. For balance purposes I'm having everyone use the same stat block : 17 14 14 14 11 9. You may allocate these values however you want. You may still add any stat bonuses from features, race, or feats you may have.
  3. All standard 5E races are allowed. If you want to use something a little bit unorthodox please message me about it first.
  4. If you want to use something from Unearthed Arcana please ask me about it before you do so. Generally I'm okay with everything UA but ask me anyway to make sure
  5. You are allowed to take a feat instead of improving an ability score should you wish to do so once we reach the appropriate levels.
  6. Your starting equipment and gold are determined by what your class + background would normally allow you to have. You may choose to use the purchasing method of determining your starting equipment instead if you wish to do so.
  7. We're starting the campaign at level 2, so make sure to create the right level character.
  8. As far a gods go, I was planning on making an entirely new homebrew pantheon of gods, but If you really like a certain god and really want them to exist then ask me about it and we'll see what we can do. A list of homebrew gods and their domains will be provided in the in-game archive.
  9. You may roll for your health for any level beyond the first. If you roll below average you may choose to instead take the average. Basically this is just to keep anyone from rolling consecutive 1's for HP rolls and end up being more fragile than wet paper.
Let Chaos Reign - Introductory Lore
Here's a description of the campaign setting and the circumstances that the party will be starting with. More information about the world will be available in the in-game archive as well as available upon request.
Centuries ago on the planet Avor, the Great Fell Dragon Akathoth, which had once dominated the world and terrorized all mortals, was slain by the goddess Makaimar. Pierced by Makaimar's lance, Akathoth's corpse fell from the sky; as it did so, hundreds of thousands of the beast's scales shed from its rapidly deteriorating form. Like seedlings filled with malice, they dug their way into the ground upon landing, spawning nests of Shadow Corruption from which the dead dragon's Shadowkissed children would emerge. This is the backdrop upon which the Age of the Fallen Dragon began.
The forces of Order were not given a chance to celebrate their victory. Akathoth's kin grew rapidly in number and suddenly it were as though a flood of twisted creatures, steeped in the same darkness that once cloaked Akathoth himself, were poised to wipe out the remnants of the forces of Order. Seeing the dire situation, the exhausted Makaimar granted her mortal children one last favor. Using the last of her nearly spent power, she cleansed the planet of the floods of the Shadowkissed creatures and rooted out the seeds of corruption that had spawned them. Makaimar's Final Act resulted in her divine vessel being unable to remain in one piece and it shattered into two halves, birthing two new goddesses from the fragments: the Dawnborn Maka and the Duskborn Imar. Now the world could rest easy and recover, yet amidst all of the chaos a very important question had been overlooked - where precisely did Akathoth's corpse fall?
In the year 1841 of the Age of the Fallen Dragon, the world now remembers little of the reign of Akathoth. The question of where the dragon's corrupt body found it's final resting place was never answered. Now the topic is only a curiosity for historians and scholars of the Fall, with the world as a whole largely having moved onto greater issues; issues like that of the Magitech revolution. The world is rapidly industrializing, driven in force by the invention of a magical force dubbed Electromagic. Ever smaller and more complex Magitech machines that run on Electromagic and the cultural upheaval that has accompanied them has paved the way for a societal restructuring the likes the nations of the planet Avor have never seen. People are moving to the cities in mass, a new affluent middle class of tradesmen, Magitech mechanics, and business owners has begun to emerge, and the entrenched Old Order has found their power beginning to be challenged for the first time in centuries.
Yet it is amidst this era of unprecedented prosperity that the darker sides of the forces of Order, as well as the long forgotten remnants of the Shadowkissed, are able to flourish. Out in the countryside of the kingdom of Elysse, where the Magitech Revolution was born, the Errant's Guild reports sightings of hostile creatures wreathed in shadow, an increase in raiding parties from the "uncivilized" tribes that dot the lands, criminal organizations becoming bolder and more ruthless, and even mass disappearance events that leave small towns completely deserted. It is up to you and your fellow adventurers to head down the rarely traveled roads in the backwater of Elysse to investigate these occurrences, determine the source of the spreading Chaos, and root out the fell seedling before the worst comes to pass.
