2024.05.14 17:01 polymathicus [Review] CosRX AHA BHA PHA LHA 35 Peel

I asked for experiences with the CosRX AHA BHA PHA LHA 35 Peel a while back but it seems that not many people have tried it yet.
https://www.reddit.com/SkincareAddiction/s/gj8ZPPAxWC
After using it for about a month, I'm posting the first review of this product as it sits on my face!
I first discovered CosRX's peel when I was having difficulty finding The Orindary's 30% AHA. Turns out, that concentration of glycolic acid is not permitted OTC here, and everything available on local marketplaces are fake.
The CosRX peel is 35% "multi-acids". According to customer service, the constituents are 27.98% AHA and 2% BHA, so the 5% should be LHAs and PHAs.
The peel doesn't smell like much, but if you put it right under your nostril and take good sniff, it smells like mild white vinegar.
I apply it quite liberally - 13 portions the size of my pinky nail for my face and neck. It stays on for the maximum recommended 10 minutes before I rinse it off thoroughly while massaging the skin gently. It stings over 1 or 2 spots for about 3 seconds, but I suspect they might have been superficial scratches from sports. It doesn't sting at all after that.
Right after rinsing it off, I do believe that my face feels just very slightly "numb"? I'm not sure if this is only in my imagination, or if it's the feeling of air on exfoliated skin. I usually follow up with a snail extract sheet mask, and then CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion.
The next morning is when the effects are most significant. My face feels soft, light, and free. Though peels are supposed to be dehydrating, I actually think my skin feels more plump and moist.
2 days after the first application, there was a piece of dead skin that flaked off the corner of my mouth. Haven't had anything similar on subsequent applications. I suspect that it's because it's my first time using any chemical peel, there was more dead skin to loosen and exfoliate.
In terms of texture and fine lines, I haven't noticed a visual difference just a month in. Perhaps under soft sunlight, I do see that there is less texture than before? I also look more "refreshed" for some reason. Physically, I feel the biggest difference - like my face is less stiff and it's easier to to express with it somehow. To my amusement a few days ago, someone did mistake me for his age, which is 7 years younger than I am.
Another notable difference is that I haven't had a single pimple since starting the peel.
With my last application, I applied 0.1% adapalene following the AHA peel. Did not experience any irritation or dryness in the slightest. Fair word of warning, my skin is extremely resilient and partial towards actives.
Hope this review is helpful to anyone who's considering an alternative to TO's peel, whether it's because of regulatory restrictions or because it's too harsh!

2024.05.14 08:31 midlifeShorty Packaged Hard Boiled Eggs

Update: Thanks, everyone! I will stick with making them myself. Even though they will be crumbled and covered in sauce (making Papadzules), rubbery egg whites and chemicals sound unappetizing. At least since they are crumbled, I don't have to peel them all perfectly.
Original: Is there any noticeable quality/taste difference between packaged hard boiled eggs and boiling them yourself?
I have never bought packaged hard boiled eggs, but I'm having a big party this weekend and one of the many things I am making requires lots of chopped up hard boiled eggs. It would be a big time saver to pick up the packaged ones at Costco. I am very picky about my ingredients (and have a bit of a reputation to maintain), so I'm concerned they will taste different. Will anyone notice a difference?
Thanks!

2024.05.14 07:38 ManufacturerChance51 Couple Questions

Hey guys, I’m thinking about going to classes in either DC or VA for my license in esthetics and eventually my masters. I aspire to one day open a med spa, but that’s way farther down the road. I do have a question, because I can’t seem to get a straight answer. As an esthetician how can I expand my services to offer things like laser hair removal, micro needling, chemical peels, etc?

2024.05.13 21:47 Odd-Cable1972 Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation
So i used to have iron & vitamin D deficiency for a quite long time, and that definitely impacted my skin color especially on face, i also used very strong lasers during the past 8 years trying to heal my acne scars, which 90% improved, i did’t care about hyperpigmentation then because i focused on my scars since they became obvious while I was wearing make up, but now, since I fixed my iron and vitamin D deficiency + got rid of my scars, i feel like it’s finally the time to focus on my red + brown hyperpigmentation
I feel like it all over my face literally and it running my beauty, i can’t go anywhere without make up just to match my body color
My doctor described me Glutathione powder+ vitamin C supplement + serum +Eucerin Even Pigment serum
She also booked me appointment after three days to do a Plazma + chemical peeling
Followed with another appointment after 6 weeks for tranexamic acid injections
She asked me to make a blood test almost in everything possible and I turned to be fine, only the zinc test wasn’t available
I have a few questions that I would love to be answered:
If the cause of my dark patches was my deficiency, is it supposed to lighten by itself after fixing the deficiency? Or should I use Melanin inhibitors to help the process?
Have you tried anything from my doctor plan? What’s your thoughts about it?
Have you tried anything else that really helped you?
One more question.. Is there any hope for me? I got used to this color it’s kinda impossible to imagine my face with same color as my body, but when i saw my picture as a child i wished to bring that skin back 🥹🥹🥹

2024.05.13 21:38 Weekly-Echidna-2865 routine help!!

hi! i’m currently using Tretinoin GEL at .025% and moisturizer only i’ve recently been prescribed azelaic acid 15% gel and i’ve been using it like moisturizer -> AA -> tretinoin and it gave me a minor chemical burn after the 3rd night is there something i can do to make the AA more tolerable? i would like to think my skin is pretty strong. i use tretinoin every night with only some minor peeling/dryness because of the gel formulation. i think it might be irritating because i’m using it right after brushing my teeth so my skin is wet, but i do that for 4 months with no notable irritation with tretinoin. But any advice will help <3

2024.05.13 20:33 Basic-Cat3537 Moles keep turning into sores?

36F 265lbs 5'7''
History of Autoimmune conditions (I have a very big medical history with a lot of things, but autoimmune covers most of it lol.)
I'm pale with a redhead complexion and lots of freckles, small leather patches and tan moles.
For a few years now every few months a seemingly random mole or two turns pink losing its pigment and starts peeling and gets a sore in the center. It will keep peeling and being a sore for a couple weeks before it turns into a light pink scar. Then eventually it turns into a white scar.
I have approached this with my GP repeatedly, but he shrugs and tells me it's not a mole, just a sore. So I shrugged it off thinking, hey maybe it wasn't a mole to start with, though some of them I'd had for years.
About a week ago a mole I've had since I was a child started doing this. And I KNOW beyond a doubt, it was a mole. I've been plucking the bundle of inch long hairs that grow out of it for years! It's the only prominent tan anything I have there as it's on my very pale relatively unfreckled thigh. I've never had anything weird happen with this mole. Until now. Because there is no mole anymore. It's pink and peeling with a sore in the center just like the others and no longer seems to have tan pigment (except for a very small segment which seems to be fading). It kind of resembles a bug bite with the mound and hollow center. So I'm now confident I was right to start with and they all started out as moles. I'd say I've had 15-20 transition that I've noticed.
What could this be? I mean once they transition they just turn into scars so I know it's probably not anything horrible like skin cancer. I'm just not understanding what it actually is? I've never even heard of moles going away, much less in this way. And with the myriad of other health concerns I have, something like this seems frivolous to focus on during my doctor appointments. Particularly when the doctor clearly doesn't seem interested in finding out what it is.

2024.05.13 15:49 unopenedvessel Please Help A Beginner Out

I am 27/f and I never got into makeup other than special occasions. I feel like it never felt like “me,” but now I am trying to feel better about myself. I want to look fresh, less tired, more put together and more confident, but nothing too extreme. I guess I’m going for no-makeup makeup.
My concerns are…
  1. My skin. I have struggled with hormonal acne since puberty and feel like I am just starting to get over it (thanks to medication, chemical peels/treatments, new skincare routine, quitting coffee, and working out). But I still have a lot of scarring, redness, texture, and dullness that makes me look older than my age. It’s my biggest insecurity. I have a hard time finding concealefoundation that doesn’t emphasize all of this, even if I use a nice dewy primer, which is another reason I have avoided makeup.
  2. I have extremely dark purple circles under my eyes that have always been there. I am also going through a lot right now and have been emotional which doesn’t help.
  3. I have nice eye color and eyelashes, but they are hooded and kind of small. I feel like mascara works, but any eye liner and eye shadow have always made them look smaller and darker.
With that, what would be a good simple routine for me? Can you recommend products (ie do I need both foundation and concealer or just concealer or would a bb/cc cream be better etc). I know NOTHING so any input would help. thank you <3

2024.05.13 14:25 milkaberry [Routine Help] I have sensitive/dry skin. How can I improve my skin care routine?

[Routine Help] I have sensitive/dry skin. How can I improve my skin care routine?
I use alot of retinol/retinoid to tackle dullness and blemishes but I was advised to reduce how often I use it.
My main concern is to reduce redness and pink scars as a result of excessive scabbing while keeping skin hydrated (my skin gets flaky and peels when it’s dry)
I have to use these products in moderation otherwise my skin burns and reacts terribly. Any recommendations of what I should include/remove?
Chemical exfoliants are my worst enemy (my skin burns), what should I use as a substitute?

2024.05.13 08:22 LatePassenger5849 [Product question] Chemical peel prep?

I’m doing my first in-office chemical peel in a little over a week. Any advice? Have you done one, and if so, what was your experience?
I’ll be getting the Skinmedica Vtalize peel, which is considered “superficial” (not medium or deep). I was told that recovery would take about a week, and I should expect physical peeling.
I stopped all actives a couple weeks ago because I was prepping for a BBL spot treatment on my face (that went fine). I’ve tolerated The Ordinary’s AHA/BHA peel pretty well in the past. Sometimes I don’t feel it at all, but sometimes it can sting pretty bad. I had lactic acid peels at a beauty school a few times and didn’t feel a thing, or really notice much difference. Not sure how much to expect this one to hurt.

2024.05.13 07:36 apaxmedicalsg Acne Scar Removal in Singapore: Reclaim Your Confidence

Acne Scar Removal in Singapore: Reclaim Your Confidence
https://preview.redd.it/xyysu8qur40d1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b99d18c25e7d2ab4b7d99bf999f3f4fc1b4f528
Acne scars can be more than just a physical blemish; they can deeply impact your self-esteem and confidence. In bustling Singapore, where appearances matter, finding effective acne scar removal treatments is essential to feeling your best self again.
Understanding Acne Scars
Before delving into treatments, it's crucial to understand what acne scars are and how they form. Acne scars are the result of inflamed blemishes caused by pores engorged with excess oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. When the pore swells, a break in the follicle wall occurs, leading to shallow or deep lesions.
The Search for Solutions
In a city like Singapore, where the pursuit of flawless skin is a cultural norm, the demand for effective acne scar removal solutions is high. Thankfully, advancements in dermatological technology have led to a plethora of treatments designed to tackle acne scars head-on.
Laser Therapy: A Cutting-Edge Solution
Laser therapy has emerged as a leading solution for acne scar removal in Singapore. This non-invasive treatment works by targeting the skin's deeper layers, stimulating collagen production and encouraging new skin cell growth. The result? Smoother, more even-toned skin with reduced visibility of acne scars.
Chemical Peels: Unveiling Radiant Skin
Chemical peels are another popular choice for treating acne scars in Singapore. These treatments involve applying a chemical solution to the skin, which exfoliates the top layer, revealing fresher, smoother skin underneath. With regular sessions, chemical peels can significantly diminish the appearance of acne scars, leaving you with a radiant complexion.
Microneedling: Harnessing the Power of Collagen
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is gaining traction as an effective acne scar removal treatment in Singapore. This procedure involves using fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, triggering the body's natural healing process and stimulating collagen production. Over time, this leads to smoother, more refined skin texture, with diminished acne scars.
Combination Therapies: Maximizing Results
For stubborn acne scars, combination therapies offer a comprehensive approach to treatment. By combining different modalities such as laser therapy, chemical peels, and microneedling, dermatologists can tailor a treatment plan to address your specific skincare concerns effectively. This holistic approach maximizes results, ensuring you achieve the clear, smooth skin you desire.
The Importance of Professional Guidance
While there are numerous acne scar removal treatments available, it's essential to seek professional guidance to determine the best course of action for your skin. A qualified dermatologist can assess your skin type, the severity of your acne scars, and any underlying conditions to recommend the most suitable treatment plan for you.
Conclusion: Embrace Your Best Skin
In the vibrant city of Singapore, where first impressions matter, achieving clear, radiant skin can boost your confidence and enhance your overall well-being. With advancements in dermatological technology and a wide range of effective acne scar removal treatments available, reclaiming your smooth, blemish-free complexion is within reach. Say goodbye to acne scars and hello to a renewed sense of confidence – you deserve it!

[HELP] is this fungal acne?
I decided to give oil cleansing a couple of weeks ago, I also had a chemical peel done 4 weeks ago, I use the SkinBetter Science line, even tone, mystro, moisturizer, alpharet clearing searum, and sunscreen.
I have no idea if I have purging from the chemical peel, have a damaged skin barrier from oil cleansing, breakout from the oil cleansing, or fungal acne from the oil cleansing. I did double cleanse with a gel cleanser, but I do feel that it might have been the oil cleanser that caused my skin to go haywire. I’ve never experienced fungal acne before so I have no idea. I cut off the oil cleanser and stick to micellar water, and my gel cleanser. Cut all actives over the last week and stick to just moisturizer and sunscreen (and clear skin focused meditations…). I think I’m seeing some progress but it still looks really bad. I’m also trying to use my sulfur mask, and zinc oxide 20%. I should probably try and get booked into my derm but they have a pretty long wait usually. Hoping yall can help!! Does this look like FA? Pictures from some of the worst of the breakout and right now. Thank you so much for your help.

I feel like I have tried everything, chemical peels, RF microneedling, fractional laser, tret, benzoyl peroxide, double cleansing, having it professionally extracted and these white bumps are always coming back. 2024.05.12 21:32 QPRSA Magnet won’t un-magnet.

We had a magnet on the corner of our microwave for a long time. When I tried to take it off, it seem to have adhered or made a chemical bond or something. It won’t peel off with fingernail style attempts. Hoping someone has a fix that won’t scratch the microwave before I get out the Olfa blade and try to slide under. Thanks a lot.

2024.05.12 19:52 Puzzleheaded_Net3822 Moderate Acne Struggles - Not Sure If My Treatment Plan Is Working

TLDR: Been dealing with moderate acne. Tried multiple over-the-counter products like salicylic acid and niacinamide without success. Visited a dermatologist who prescribed a new skincare routine and suggested chemical peels. I've done one session of chemical peels and started the new products but haven't seen significant improvements yet. Is it normal not to have serums in my routine?
Hey everyone,
I've been struggling with moderate acne and have gone through a fair share of skincare products, including salicylic acid, niacinamide, various cleansers, and moisturizers, but unfortunately, nothing really worked for me. Feeling a bit desperate, I finally decided to see a dermatologist hoping for some professional guidance.
The dermatologist seemed pretty thorough and prescribed a new routine for me: a specific cleanser, a new moisturizer, and an anti-blemish gel cream that's supposed to be high tolerance. He also recommended a course of chemical peels and prescribed a tablet to help with the acne. I've completed one of the six suggested chemical peel sessions about 10 days ago.
Since then, I've been religiously following the new skincare routine and have noticed some of my acne drying out, but overall, there's no significant improvement yet. One thing that struck me is that the dermatologist didn't include any serums in my treatment plan. I've read a lot about how serums can be beneficial, and it's making me wonder if something’s missing from my regimen.
I wanted to reach out to this community to see if anyone has had a similar experience. Is it normal for a treatment plan not to include any serums? How long does it typically take to start seeing results from a new routine and chemical peels? Any advice or insights would be really appreciated as I navigate this acne journey.
Thanks!
