Pictures of donkeys, featuring donkeys as the subject of the photograph. Live donkeys. Cartoon donkeys. Porcelain donkeys. Wooden donkeys. Donkey statues. All donkeys, all the time. No horses. No zebras. No bull. Just donkeys.

Hello there! I'm trying to find some people with similar interests to chat with daily about said interests or just the day to day stuff. I'm a big star wars fan! My favorite SW movie is Revenge of the Sith. I also play video games(mostly XBOX, i have a pc but its in dire need of upgrades to play alot of the newer games). Currently on a Fallout kick but I also like Diablo, Mass Effect and Cyberpunk 2077. Pretty much anything with a good storyline. I LOVE animals! My favorite animal is probably Donkeys! They're just too damn adorable! If I could, I'd adopt every animal that needs a home 😅 I have 2 cats so I'd probably end up sending pictures of them, but I want to rescue a dog soon! If any of that interests you at all, feel free to msg me 🙂

2024.05.14 22:50 IsThisUpsidedown TF has no idea what they are talking about?
I've been listening to this podcast for a few months now and usually enjoy it. I also listen to Well Theres Your Problem and Donkeys Led by Lions.
At times they may mention things I don't fully agree with, or moments where I feel they might have misunderstood something, but never really anything that I feel is of any importance.
However, the most recent episode listened to I heard a few things that are quite literally factually untrue when it comes to Irish colleges.
- University College Dublin is filled with tourists -- Maybe November is confusing it with Trinity College, which is located in the city centre and is a lot more famous and actually gets loads of tourists, but UCD is so far removed from the city centre that I doubt any tourists ever go there.
- Its also an extremely large campus with few tourist attractions whatsoever. I recently studied there for 5 years, lived on campus, and came across ZERO tourists unless you count families visiting for graduation.
- November doubles down again on the idea that UCD is a bourgeois university, which is such utter bullshit that I am utterly astounded. UCD is the largest university in the entire country, and you would find that students there are from a large variety of backgrounds, cultures and countries. That is not to say that there aren't any people from privilege attending the university, but painting a picture in such broad brushstrokes is extremely misleading.
Anyone ever noticed factual inaccuracies when listening to TF?

2024.05.13 08:52 Cute_Sherbet_369 38 [F4M] Northern NJ - Husband, Homestead, and Family
Getting straight to the point! I'm looking for a serious, monogamous relationship with someone with the same aspirations of having a family and living somewhere more rural in NJ/NY for a homestead. I'm not materialistic, and have always just wanted the simple things in life. I love animals, music, gaming, crafting, comedy, fireworks, and being outside. I can't wait to be able to go swimming when the weather is warmer!
I'm looking for a genuinely kind man who would never hurt a fly, unless he had to protect his family. Then he would spin kick that fly into oblivion. Also looking for someone who lives close in the tri-state area, and who will do living history things with me lol.
I am 5'8, 270lb., and pear-shaped. We can trade pictures. So, DM if you want to get a donkey and some chickens!
Oh!! I forgot to add that I am irreligious and not conservative lol.

2024.05.13 08:05 jenLFPotter38 1980s children's cassette tapes musical earworms which just will not be satisfied until I can actually listen to them again.
I have the most annoying earworms one could possibly have, with children's music of all things. Now, when I was a very small child in the 1980s, no later than this, I had 3 cassette tapes in total, which were all produced, published, recorded in the UK, I'm certain of that, because I can remember the voices singing the songs on these tapes and some of the background music to go with the songs. The first and most crazy of the lot, is an A to Z alphabetical order double cassette tape album, of things beginning with those letters. I will give out side 1 of song titles.A is for ABC. 2. B is for Beaver Towers. c is for Christmas time. D is for doll's house. E is for Elephant, f is for fairy shoemaker, g is for going to School. It was a British female singer and producer, possibly a celebrity as this is so flipping hard to come by. She has quite a plumby British accent.
Second cassette then, it appears to be a collection of covered tv theme songs from the Postman Pat theme, to my little pony intro theme from the 1985 LP picture disk which is on Youtube, Super Ted, The Frog Song, Rupert The Bear song, Goofy's On The Open Road, Chugging Steam Train song, not sure what that tv program was though, Herbert The Hedgehog, a song about care bears. T'beside what I remember. I had these tapes as a child. Another tape was a nursery or preschool choir, singing songs about donkeys, Charlie something or other, nice young man, when I first came to this land, a song about London Bridge, a song about birds in the morning, a song about a sailor on a ship, what a merry hum, 5 green bottles Etc. If anybody could throw some light on what the above collections, names of these children's cassette tapes were so I can hopefully, obtain new copies of them for my childhood memorabilia collection, I would be eternally greatful.

2024.05.12 23:48 Inevitable-Candy-628 Feedback on my GF's workout plan 💖💪🏼
Hey everyone - my girlfiend is really shy and busy so i'm trying to help her put a workout training plan together.
For context: She's a healthy 26F, petite - 5'2, 113 lb, pretty square build lol so she wants a more curvy physique of course, i mean, really she wants to gain mass all around, she's got tiny everything right now, so bigger thighs, glutes, all that, hour glass physique basic goal haha. She know how to workout for sure but she doesn't really go heavy ever - my advice to her was basically lets put a regime together to track, throw in some heavier weight, and help her eat a lot more while keeping the diet healthy!
Here's the GPT generated plan i came up with so far:
Also side note, some questions i have - so like, I'm a guy and i follow a different regime every 2-3 months i like to switch some things up, even on a weekly basis if its a dumb bell curl, maybe i'll use the rope, or a different variant - should she apply that same ideology? Also, i like to go heavy as dog fuck some days and bench like 200+ 3-5 rep range for my compound movements, should she do the same some weeks too? Any advice - gratitude! (If you help, we'll send you before and after pictures in a few months lol!)

2024.05.12 15:42 OrlonDogger A Witch at Midnight - Chapter 10
The Ermes browser starts up as slowly as ever, even with the help of the Tripolar Edge Router. The front page loads eventually though, and as soon as it does I input the link:
http://dejima08646F6E2774.pmkn Then, I wait.
It doesn’t
immediately tell me to go away, so that is some progress. It is still taking an eternity and a half to load but… With enough time, a black screen appears in front of me. Then, pleasantly green vines curl on the sides of the window, while words start to load in light gray. The banner on the center reads: DEJIMA 08, which I assume is the name of the site… Dejima? Isn’t that a real word?
A quick search in Gaggle answers: yes, yes it is! A very specific island in Cipango, artificial, made specifically to deal with pesky easterners that intruded on their lands. A sort of public spot where foreigners could come and trade.
But this is not a Cipangian forum, so it is clear these people are a bunch of weebs.
“
Well if it isn’t the donkey complaining about long ears!”
Ahem.
The forum is written in Dobrand, so this is a southern forum. Luckily for me, that’s my second language.
“
We should always thank mom for helping us play those Dobrandian games back when we were young.”
Looking right under the banner I find the usual buttons. Buttons for the Home Page, to Search, a Link Tree, and the Sign Up and Log In buttons.
The only visible subforum is the ‘Rules’ section, with a single sub-section called ‘Terms and Conditions’. Clicking it allows me to see a few topics… ‘Closing of Topics’ and ‘Coexistence Rules’ are there, as usual. ‘Colour Palette’, probably for those who want to get fancier with their posts. The last part is strange though: ‘Sleepers and The Link’.
On the side there are a bunch of statistics: Amount of posts (respectable, if not a little low), latest posts (only on topics, not on profiles? I guess this is a private place), and the members online. No names for the members though, just numbers: 12 registered users and… oh. Only 1 guest.
That’s me.
Oh damn it I am being singled out
immediately!
I better get this done quickly before someone notices and decides to check on me…
Reading the rules is a good spot to start.
The Coexistence Rules were posted by a user with a dark purple name called ‘Ventotto’. They are simple enough, easily summarized on: Don’t be an Asshole, don’t be a Bot and don’t spam. I am surprised to see actual mentions of homophobia and transphobia as punishable behaviors in this year of our Saints 2012! People really liked making the same kind of 'Oh I actually identify as an Attack Helicopter! lol' joke on the internet, all the time. This is a breath of fresh air!
“
Funny. You made that same kind of joke several times in VirtualZone, remember?”
I shudder in intense guilt. Saints damn it.
“
Oh yeah, sure, now you don’t find them funny because you’re in your own struggle. You had to suffer to learn to be kind to others, huh? Can you really call yourself a kind man if you had to live through something to actually be merciful? Piece of shit.”
“
Focus.”
A-Anyways. The rules also mention sanctions, like temporary kicks, denial of access to the Chatbox (Oh my, they have a chatbox! That’s fancy) or even a complete ban from the forum if people failed to accept these rules.
There were special rules about protecting the anonymity of the users though: no doxxing, no sharing personal information in the forum OR the chatbox. I wonder how much trouble this rule causes…
Closing of Topics is for users to ask for their topics to be closed, that’s basic. I can’t access it though, so they seem
really into security. This one was made by a Green name, ‘jeepcreep’. Like the movie? I guess even mages have a sense of humor.
Colour Palette is nice. Just a single topic with colours usable for your posts, and it had all the colours in the spectrum!
There is one outside of it though, one that the rules specifically said should be used only in moderation: that impossible light again! Brightly shining in green and purple, mixing and flashing… it was labeled ‘Octarine’.
Staring at it for too long is going to give me a headache, that thing is an epilepsy hazard for sure! I am surprised they even allow its usage!
At least now I have a name for that damn colour.
It is another post by this ‘jeepcreep’ guy, he seemed to handle the more social stuff!
The final topic, ‘Sleepers and The Link’, is interesting. It wasn’t made by ‘ventotto’ nor ‘jeepcreep’, but another Purple Name called… uh…
ογδόντα. “Is that Helenian!?” I frown. I am good with languages, yes, but I never even thought of learning that one. “Saints damn it, I have no idea how to even begin to pronounce that…”
After cursing for a bit, I decide to focus on the contents of the topic.
It goes without saying that the sharing of this Link with Sleepers is completely and utterly forbidden. Dejima 08 and all material that comes from it are a part of the Secret and, as such, must remain undiscovered by the Sleeper populace, lest we wish for the Brotherhood to come and seize all our hard work.
I am aware that MagiNet is protected by several layers of technological knowhow and a Physical Key, but this is no reason to be complacent and forget that our activities are supposed to be confidential.
The fact that we are doing these activities outside of the bounds of local Elysiums means that we must be careful whom we trust. Share this link only with people you know are trustworthy, and know that you will be personally responsible for their actions during their stay in the Forum.
Dejima 08 is a forum dedicated to the translation and transcription of Magical Hearts, and even if we have caved to the popular demand of adding “casual” subforums for you to enjoy, you must never lose sight of the objective.
Sleepers must be the people who ain’t magic, that much is easy to understand. But magical Hearts…? What even is that? Do they mean books? The curiosity is killing me.
I don’t even think about it twice: as soon as I finish reading, I immediately go over to Sign In.

Date of Birth: 08-09-90 Under all of that, there is a tiny white square with a play button. Under that, there is a little instruction that reads: ‘Write the Rune’.
Clicking the square expands it, taking over the entire screen for a moment before octarine coloured lines begin to spiral in it. It forms a very specific symbol. A rune! I make sure to grab my book and quickly look for a matching one… I only find *one* case, but I do find it!
Rune 5 Thako
No way to translate it without context for what the hell that word means, but I will certainly test it after I draw it on the computer. It’s a matter of following the lines with my mouse… and there. I am confirmed.
The white screen disappears, and the Forum confirms that I have been registered. A quick check of my gamail confirms it! They sent me mail and everything! It went
straight to spam though, for some reason.
I guess it’s to make sure people who are not in the know just ignore them?
After all that, I scribble the symbol in my notes and stare at it for a moment. ‘Thako’, whatever could it mean? It won’t do anything no matter how much I read and enunciate it , at least until I learn its ‘signified’. But maybe one of the people in the forum will know?
“Hold on right there, Buster. This forum is not a place for beginners! Did you not catch that from the read?”
“True. But that doesn’t mean they won’t be willing to help, right?”
“They probably will look at you like a nuisance if you barge in and
immediately demand answers.”
I hate to admit it but he’s right there.
“... Look, just, don’t close yourself to the possibility of getting help, okay? Do it now, or later, I don’t care. Just do it.”
How uncharacteristically harsh of you… but, sure. I will go with that.
Now that I can log in, the forum spreads into a few more sections.
‘NEWS’, ‘SLEEPER LIFE’ and ‘TRANSLATION’.
On the bottom of it all, there os the black Chatbox waiting for people to join in! There are only two people in the box right now. On one part, that’s great! No anxiety from big numbers of people or not being able to follow conversation. On the other… oh no. I could be intruding in private conversation.
“Now now, if they wanted it to be private, they could go to more secure channels.”
That may be true, but the anxiety is still there.
“Well, there is a section in Sleeper Life that says ‘Introductions’, maybe that’s a good start?”
I guess so. Let’s see what other introductions there are!
Click!
…
My heart sinks when seeing that there hasn’t been a post in introductions in over a year…
This forum is abandoned and only maintained out of some sense of obligation by the mods. The place receives little traffic being so secret, so this makes sense! But why do I still feel so nervous about it?
Taking a very deep breath, I push myself to just ignore the dread and quickly write a post. People usually mention their hobbies, their work and where in the world they are posting from, so it wouldn’t be too hard to start, right?
Hard or not, I ended up rewriting the thing like five times before pushing myself to press the ‘Post’ button.
Alright, now to wait…
…
…
…
Waiting is going to kill me. If I just stand here begging for attention, I will legitimately die.
“I think it is time for a distraction. How about King of Legends?”
“We’ve gone over this. That game is toxic, look for something better.”
“Team Stronghold 2?”
…
Sure. Fine, why not?
“Yes!”
“Urgh.”
I disconnect my computer from the Tripolar Edge Router and, after closing everything and making sure I didn’t catch all of the viruses in my little expedition to the Dark Web, I pick up my things and return to my comfy spot in the bedroom. I’ve been way too active during the last few days, and I deserve a break.
Right?
“No. But who cares?”
With a heavy sigh, I sit back down on my lazy boy chair, closing my eyes before getting everything connected and properly wired once again… and lose myself to some mindless diversion, trying my best to avoid thinking.
With some luck, at least one of the mods will see my post and say hi…
The alarm clock rang loudly in Gal’s ears. He wasn’t ready for it, taking a sudden leap from his bed and ending up on the floor while wrapped in his covers. The young boy snarled, struggling, kicking and rolling to set himself free from the warm embrace of the mantles before getting up, looking around himself.
He was no longer in dreamland, fighting with dragons and saving princesses. It was his good ol’ room, covered from side to side in videogame paraphernalia, illuminated by the first rays of the day filtering through his thin blinds. It was a bit disappointing, considering he really was enjoying his slumber, but he would get over it.
“Hmmmngh… good morning, world.”
With a loud yawn that almost unhinged his jaw, Gal walked out of his room and went straight to the bathroom, cleaned himself up and then walked straight to the computer room. He could get breakfast later! There were emails to check and things to do even on summer vacation!
“Alright, let’s see…”
“Aron! Are you up already!?” The voice of Gal’s grandma called from outside of the room.
“Yes Gangan!”
“Oh good! Good morning sweetie!” The old lady chuckled gently. “I’ll put breakfast on in a minute then. Make sure to brush your teeth!”
“I will, Gangan!”
Ahh, breakfast, the most important meal of the day according to most Sleepers. He wouldn’t dare to challenge tradition by missing it! But before anything, he wanted to give a look to a few topics in the Forum…
…Huh, what’s this?
LATEST POSTS
HI There! by Tav , in Introductions, posted one hour ago.
A new user? Now that’s fun… and they actually used the intro forum? Gal couldn’t help but laugh a little bit, that was adorable. The mark of an absolute noob. They must be so scared right now…
Moved by curiosity, Gal immediately checked the post. This ‘Tav’ person had the picture of a big, green rabbit smiling as their avatar… from freaking Grenademan? Now that’s an old school choice, but respectable. Gal already liked this guy.
Now, onto the post itself…
Oh boy here we go. Uhm. Hi there!
I’m Tav, I am 22 and currently reside in Wohl. I am an aspiring writer, spend most of my time playing games and practicing my craft, and, well… I hope we can all get along fine!
“Oh. My Saints.” Gal’s smile curled even more. This person was an absolute, utter nervous wreck, weren’t they? Oh boy, Sou was going to absolutely destroy them if they got their hands on them. This was way too earnest!
He couldn’t allow it. No sir. He had to make sure this guy wasn’t immediately pushed off the Forum! They never got new people because of it!
Sou wouldn’t get up for a while, enough time to actually welcome this Tav in…
“Alright then. I guess it’s up to me now.” Gal smirked, cracking his knuckles and getting to tap an answer. “Don’t worry friend! The hammer of indifference will not hit you today!”

2024.05.12 10:29 barkitectgames What I learnt from making my first game
Nine months ago, with my only experience being far too many hours spent watching devlog videos on Youtube, I started my first game project. An estimated 600 hours later, the Steam release is just over a week away.
It's a very basic game, but I learnt a huge amount making it and so wanted to share some takeaways and reflections:
Art… I chose pixel art because I thought it would be easier than the other art styles. I no longer think this. The idea that “there are only so many ways you can arrange 32x32 pixels” was very naïve. I did however find that this limitation forced me to be creative in a way that didn’t sacrifice consistency, and consistency seemed to be worth a lot more than assets that were individually ‘good’.
One of the biggest jumps forwards in the art was sticking to a colour palette. With the above in mind, I think this was probably because colour palettes in themselves are both limiting and consistent.
Drawing takes a long time, animating takes even longer, and scope creep came into play here too. The movement felt so much more fluid with eight directions and I wanted this for everything, but if I’d tried I don’t think I’d ever have finished it. I compromised here by fully animating the player character, and then making use of lots of floating and hovering enemies that only really needed one direction to look okay.
Programming… I programmed a calculator when I was 14, and it almost worked. Other than that, I had no previous coding experience. The Godot documentation is very highly thought of, but I couldn’t even understand that to begin with. Following tutorials was a good basis, and there are some really great ones out there, but it was fixing the bugs that were my own doing which taught me the most.
When there were only a few assets, it didn’t feel necessary to organise things. As the project grew however, this became more and more of a headache until I eventually sacrificed a day to tidying up. The obvious payoff here was that things were just much tidier, but I hadn’t appreciated how much more enjoyable it would then be to work on.
By the end of the project, I finally understood why my code was bad, and did seriously consider re-doing the entire thing. Again though, I don’t think I’d ever have finished it if I had, and this would only really have been for my own benefit as it did technically work. The fact of being able to see how bad the code is though does at least show how much I’ve improved, so there’s a positive in there somewhere.
State machines are lovely, but by the time I understood the idea behind them most of the coding was already done and so I only used them in one or two places. Where I did though, things were far better. There are numerous other examples of cool patterns and concepts I’m now aware of, but until I’d reached a certain threshold had dismissed as too intimidating. Special shout out however to interpolation and tweens, which gave excellent value for the time they took to understand.
Sound… I can’t play any instruments and don’t even really listen to music besides the radio. Essentially, I am entirely illiterate when it comes to sound. I know when a sound is wrong, but don’t have the vocabulary to articulate why that is. I am fortunate enough to have a brother who is the opposite, and was willing to make a soundtrack for me, but I think it would have set me back months if I’d needed to learn this aspect too.
Same as the art though, consistency seemed to be important here too, but even in the ‘5000 Sound Effects’ packs I bought I really struggled to find this. Adding sound proved to be a very slow and frustrating process of trawling CC License sites. That said, they were a massive addition and I think it will be well worth investing more time into this in future projects.
I was able to get my head around randomising the pitch of a sound effect each time it’s played, and this was another high value thing to do.
Design… The best analogy I can think of is that I wanted to draw a picture, but instead had to learn how to hold a pencil. I didn’t have the skill or knowledge to implement my ideas, and so ended up sketching something that vaguely resembled what I’d intended and then compromising. Pin the Tail on the Donkey also works as an analogy.
What I took from all of the videos about game feel/juice was: maximum feedback for minimum input. This was unfortunately also subject to the above point, however there were long lists of small additions (screen shake, freeze-frames, tweens, SFX…) that cumulatively did make a big difference.
Release… I very consciously limited my project’s scope and the result is something that’s, while I hope fun, not going to sink hundreds of hours of a player’s time. I hadn’t planned to release the game on Steam, but did ultimately decide to, at the minimum possible price, for two reasons: 1) There’s value in seeing something all the way through. 2) I have spent over 100 hours playing Super Hexagon.
I think the draw of Super Hexagon comes from being able to enter the ‘flow state’, and also from the leaderboards. Perhaps only because of how simple my game is, I have found myself getting into a flow with the finished version, and the leaderboards were surprisingly straightforward to implement. Even if it doesn’t sell a single copy though, it was worth the listing fee to become familiar with the upload and Steam integration process.
Moving forwards… I’m eager to take everything I’ve learnt and start a new game, a better game, but do now appreciate just how long the process takes.
With time being the biggest obstacle then, and with motivation in my experience coming from seeing progress, I think the key is going to be designing it with an emphasis on scalability, so that a working game can be arrived at relatively quickly, and content (whether that be levels, items, enemies) then added as for as long as is enjoyable, with the option to step away and call it finished at any point.
For art, I want to experiment with very low-res pixel art and see if I can still manage to make something that still looks okay without being such an investment of time. And for sound, I’d like to buy a microphone to try recording my own sound effects, and then figure out a workflow that keeps them consistent.
For anyone who’s interested… For anyone who’s interested:

2024.05.12 08:10 Y_eyeatta Why are people so dishonest in pictures?
This isn't about just men but its about the search for someone like on line or when you see their facebook profile and they don't even look like what they show you.
When was younger i remember thinking that when you look at pictures of people from a long time ago it could tell you what that world was like even if you weren't there.
Today???? Not so much
Not even a little bit. These hooligans snap chat filter and photo shop there ugly mugs so damn much someone from 50 years from now would see these out of proportion boobs and eyes all stretched out and looking some kind of baboon like in relationship to nature. The history books would be so definitely inaccurate. And what the hell do people need to smile in pictures for? So you won't know what they look like most of the time when which isn't fun. Most people are scammin you as fast as they can squeeze their little fish lips together and do that ugly ass face. I'd rather you sent me a picture with your natural drooping brow and snake face so I can pin you out of a line up like the donkey you are. You ever notice that when you see a picture of someone you don't know yet that unless its for work or a group picure that nearly everything in the picture is filtered to beyond nature? People must know the ugliness inside them is visible through a cell phone camera.
Rant over.

2024.05.11 18:45 Napstar007 (Semi) Plus Skill Mii Data and Overlap - Bowser Tour (2024)
| **edit** both larry and morton mii didn't get a single additional ranked track over the last 4 months, wiggler received 3 and might get ~1 more (8 track left to see). An update of plus skill mii ranked usage whole tour year and for the rest of the tour year (Mii Tour - Anniversary Tour). Specifically also the data for triple banana and bowser shell that can be plus skills, since their base actions give more points relative to picking up a coin, which is especially important above 200 actions when the bonus points boost ends and only the base action (including kart multipliers) and the combo bonus are left. See the bowser shell run with 208 actions for an example by Danny posted here. Bowser shell was a plus skill here above 200 actions, the frenzy hitting 13 times (several times the same bot) with base points of 35 for each hit compared to a coin action giving 5 (after including kart multipliers x2.6 and the 12 frenzy actions) it was a plus skill, meaning it gave points more than a coin frenzy equivalent to 30 actions. If I remember correctly only by roughly 1.5 actions though not including collection of additional coin spill, which you would not get running in front going for coin frenzies with a non-plus skill mii. Below 200 actions it would have been a bit less than a coin frenzy in comparison in terms of points. Meaning above 200 it's relatively better if each action gave more points than just increase the number of actions picking up more coins (unless it's a lot of coins!! such as boomerang, which also in itself by hitting people gives already more points than just coin action). Meaning coinbox does relatively fall of compared to other skills such as giant banana, boomerang, L7, bowser shell, triple banana (especially with banana+ glider) due to the base action being the lowest the further you go above 200 actions. I also included for the full year for triple banana and bowser shell miis, the ranked usage left after fully investing into plus skill miis. This shows how useful they can be in terms of coverage late game since you usually max out all the plus skill mii drivers. I used antilev's ranked loop mode tracker, so this only includes general mii top shelf boosts as far as I know. Meaning it's pretty correct, but it's always better to cross check any investments using for example maxi's tour sheet. Link to sheet version of the graphic here. Overall I think Daisy and Koopa Clown have amazing coverage and the latter with a banner sale during the last tour of the tour year, the anniversary tour, is still seeing the most possible buffs. The others especially after overlap with each other seems currently way less useful for ranked, but orange mii also can still get a lot of buffs and it's worth keeping an eye on it. koopa clown is still in the shop on sale right now (also larry mii!) and daisy will be two tours of now. next tour there will be morton and if we are lucky 3 other maybe interesting miis. Since the last ranked usage overview of plus skill miis wiggler mii got 3 more ranked track buffs in 25 possible tracks left to see, it got now 8 tracks left to see and I expect it to get rougly 1 more track (0-2) basically, that's just speculation though. Wiggler mii is the only plus skill mii left to get more buffs! Wiggler mii is still even after maxing out gold mii the best mii to invest in currently (full year and right now) in terms of coverage. https://preview.redd.it/g9ry40aqntzc1.jpg?width=2506&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=254740fb1b11ac36f52903a8329ce1813f3947d8 The second graphic (below) shows just as explained ranked usage whole tour year left after overlap with plus skill miis. non-mii drivers that aren't coinbox I haven't included when their usage was 1 or less. link to sheet here As you can see the general recommendations of non-mii plus skill drivers have a lot of use still after fully investing into plus skill miis (not necessarily anymore after investing into non-plus skill miis, then basically only coinbox and boomerang on specific low action courses or battle tracks in that case coinbox only though). light-blue shy guy (explorer), toad (tourist), petey piranha, donkey kong (gladiator), chargin' chuck (gold), toad (astronaut), poochy, mario (king), larry (wintertime). drivers that are recommended early and efficient to invest into are still useful with 6+ ranked tracks after fully investing into plus skill miis (not considering overlap with each other). of these especially light-blue shy guy (explorer), toad (tourist), petey piranha, donkey kong (gladiator), poochy are recommended as a set early to start out before going into miis (4 drivers can cover more than half of ranked already, only wiggler mii can be counted among these in terms of coverage). these do fall of late game in terms of scoring potential though except for boomerang and coinbox on tracks with a low action count target and no plus-skill mii. https://preview.redd.it/61qgzsviptzc1.jpg?width=605&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36602bfd57c23a8affca43430c88f0f66267ca19 submitted by Napstar007 to MarioKartTour [link] [comments] |
2024.05.11 17:34 blackthorn_orion The Nintendo Breakdown 2: An updated overview of confirmed, leaked, and rumored projects from Nintendo and its close partners
Hello again! About 6 months ago, I put together
a Nintendo roundup that got some positive feedback, and with this week’s double-whammy of the Switch successor kinda being announced and a direct being confirmed for June, I figured now was as good a time as any to put out an updated version so folks can know where things stand and have something to chew on while they wait. My intent is to update this post after the June direct with any new information. Please let me know if anything's borked, as formatting big posts on reddit can get a bit wonky and some of these links are getting old
Nintendo Entertainment Planning and Development (EPD): Formed in 2015 as part of a restructuring that unified Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development (EAD) and Nintendo Software Planning and Development (SPD). When people talk about “in-house Nintendo”, this is usually what they mean. EPD groups are primarily small producedirector-led teams that then scale up and pull from a shared “pool” of developers as projects get further into development. EPD’s many sub-groups can essentially be divided into those that primarily develop their own games and those focused more on overseeing/collaborating with other studios (both non-EPD Nintendo studios as well as fully external developers), though there are exceptions and gray areas
Development-focused groups - EPD 3: The Zelda team; with Tears of the Kingdom DLC stated to be off the table, they are presumed to have moved onto the next major Zelda title
- Nate the Hate and Eurogamer both reported that a build of Breath of the Wild running on Switch 2-comparable hardware was shown behind closed doors at Gamescom 2023 featuring 4K60fps and “erased” load times; however, these reports also stressed that this was intended primarily as a tech demo and isn’t necessarily indicative of a next-gen update or remaster being planned for release
- Papagenos: “Tears of the kingdom Had a great zelda design I think we are Severely overdue for a game where zelda Is the main character. Seems to me A Hyrule adventure like that Is something fans want, Nows The time.
- capitalized letters spell out “This is a hint”
- Jeff Grubb, Nate the Hate, Imran Khan, and Andy Robinson have all previously claimed or alluded to the WiiU versions of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess coming to Switch (often speculated/reported as being a double-pack); nobody's gotten the timing right on this, but these are often framed as finished ports that Nintendo is sitting on for one reason or another.
- Nate the Hate: "They exist but knowing when they'll come out is a different matter. It's why they are often used in speculation as a schedule filler"
- Grubb: "I've always heard they're ready, they're sitting there, we're just waiting for Nintendo to pull the trigger. When they will, why they will, who knows?"
- Kit&Krysta: Krysta: “I know they exist, they’re in, they’re, uh, they’re, they, they’re done I think they’re just gonna sit on it. But I do not think they’re gonna talk about this at all, for a while”
- EPD 4: The “experimental” team behind games such as Labo, Ring Fit Adventure, and Nintendo Switch Sports. Typically their games feature bespoke peripherals or prioritize using a system's hardware features for novel gameplay. Most recently released Everybody 1-2 Switch (co-developed with NDcube) in June 2023.
- EPD 5: Animal Crossing and Splatoon. Most recently released Side Order, a roguelike DLC mode for Splatoon 3, in February 2024
- Pre-release, Splatoon 3 was confirmed to get 2 years of support; barring a content extension, the game should get its final content update this year around September
- Should note that while the two series typically share a producer, there’s historically been little to no overlap in directors, so it’s not impossible for both Animal Crossing and Splatoon to have games in active development at once
- EPD 8: Also known as EPD Tokyo since the rest of EPD is based out of Nintendo’s Kyoto HQ, this is the 3D Mario team (also Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and Captain Toad; co-developed the NES Remix games with indieszero)
- EPD 9: Mario Kart, ARMS (and Nintendogs once upon a time).
- With Mario Kart Tour and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass both receiving their final content updates towards the end of 2023, they’ve probably been working on the next Mario Kart game (either that or LEGS)
- EPD 10: Pikmin and 2D Mario (including Mario Maker). Launched both Pikmin 4 (co-developed with Eighting) and Super Mario Bros. Wonder in 2023.
Oversight and collaborative groups - EPD 2 has the broadest responsibilities of these groups, through which EPD gets a hand in projects including Kirby, Mario Party, Smash, Fire Emblem, Bayonetta, Xenoblade, and Pokemon, and others
- EPD 6 generally sticks to to overseeing Intelligent Systems’ non-Fire Emblem games (i.e. Paper Mario, WarioWare) as well as all games developed by Retro Studios and Next Level Games.
- EPD 7 is a bit hard to place, but for simplicity’s sake I’m putting it here; as SPD 1 they developed multiple games on their own (notably the Rhythm Heaven and Tomodachi games), but after Nintendo shook up its internal structure in the late WiiU era and SPD 1 became EPD 7, they appear not to have the capacity for solo projects. Instead, all their projects as EPD 7 have been in collaboration with external studios and include the Famicom Detective Club remakes developed with MAGES as well as MercurySteam’s recent Metroid games
- EPD 1 stands as something of a mystery, as just about every series it would previously have managed and overseen has seemingly been moved under EPD 2 in recent years; its current status and possible projects are unclear
Other Nintendo-owned Studios: Mario World outside of EPD
- 1-Up Studio (formerly Brownie Brown):
- As Brownie Brown, developed games such as Magical Vacation, Sword of Mana, and A Kappa’s Trail; co-developed Mother 3 with HAL Laboratory
- As 1-Up, acts as a support studio primarily for Nintendo EPD titles (most frequently EPD 8 projects, though also credited in occasional non-EPD 8 games like Tri-Force Heroes, Ring Fit Adventure, and Animal Crossing New Horizons)
- iQue: Previously distributed Nintendo games and consoles in China under the iQue Player branding; with Tencent now acting as Nintendo’s official distributor in the region, iQue’s primary role has been Chinese localization
- Monolith Soft: Tokyo studio handles the Xenoblade series, Kyoto studio does support for EPD 3/EPD 5 projects; most recent solo release was 2023’s Future Redeemed, the DLC story expansion to Xenoblade Chronicles 3
- NDcube: Mario Party (from 9 onwards), Clubhouse Games, various other party game/mini game titles (also F-Zero Maximum Velocity on GBA)
- Most recently released 2023’s Everybody 1-2 Switch (co-developed with EPD 4)
- Next Level Games: Luigi’s Mansion 2 and 3, Mario Strikers series, Punch-Out Wii, Metroid Prime Federation Force
- Since 2013’s Luigi’s Mansion 2, Next Level has released a new game every 3 years; With Mario Strikers Battle League releasing and wrapping support in 2022, they should have a new game in 2025 (assuming they stick to this 3 year cycle)
- Possibly working on the Luigi’s Mansion 2 remaster scheduled for late June 2024
- Nintendo Prime in March 2023: An F-Zero GX remaster is one of two projects in development at Next Level Games
- Nintendo European Research and Development (NERD) (Formerly Mobiclip/Actimagine): Primarily handles most of Nintendo’s emulation needs (NES/SNES emulators in the mini consoles and NSO, GB/GBA for NSO, and the Gamecube/Wii emulator used in Mario 3D All-Stars/Pikmin 1+2). Frequently credited in “novel technology”-heavy titles such as EPD 4 projects and Velan Studios’ Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit
- In addition to ongoing NSO work, served as a support studio for Tears of the Kingdom
- Most recently developed Pikmin 1+2 along with the Porting Technology Development Team (part of Nintendo Platform Technology Development, Nintendo’s hardware&tech division)
- Nintendo Pictures (formerly Dynamo Pictures): Animation and motion capture studio
- As Dynamo Pictures, credited on games and media such as Metroid Other M, Monster Hunter Stories, Persona 5, and the Pikmin shorts
- As Nintendo Pictures, credited on Tears of the Kingdom (special thanks), Pikmin 4 (very special thanks), Mario Wonder (character design/character action design/field design/cinematic design/technical support/project management/special thanks), Super Mario RPG remake (character art/animation art/technical art), and Another Code Recollection (very special thanks)
- Nintendo Software Technology (NST): Ridge Racer 64, Pokemon Puzzle League (a reskin of Intelligent Systems’ shelved Panel de Pon 64), Wave Race Blue Storm, 1080 Avalanche, Mario vs DK series, Metroid Prime Hunters, F-Zero 99, support work for indie publishing partnerships (Snipperclips, The Stretchers, Good Job), port work+new content for EPD games (Mario Maker 3DS, Captain Toad Switch/3DS, 3D World+Bowser’s Fury)
- Retro Studios: Metroid Prime series, Donkey Kong Country Returns & Tropical Freeze, support for Mario Kart 7
- Systems Research and Development (SRD): Programming assistance on many Nintendo games dating back as far as the Famicom/NES port of Donkey Kong in 1983 before eventually being acquired by Nintendo in 2022
Close Partners and Frequent Collaborators: The Nintendo
Keiretsu and Friends
- Arika: Endless Ocean series, several Dr. Mario installments, Tetris 99/Mario 35/Pac-Man 99
- Most recently released Endless Ocean Luminous in May 2024
- Bandai Namco: As Namco, developed Starfox Assault, the Donkey Konga series, and the Mario baseball games; As Bandai Namco, responsible for Smash games starting with Smash for WiiU and 3DS, asset creation for EPD 9 games starting with Mario Kart 8 (technically had been involved with Kart since the arcade entries in the mid-2000s), and various Pokemon spin-offs such as Pokken Tournament and New Pokemon Snap
- Camelot: Mario Tennis and Mario Golf games, Golden Sun series
- Game Freak/Creatures Inc./The Pokemon Company:
- Good-Feel: Wario Land Shake It, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Yoshi’s Wooly World/Crafted World
- most recently released Princess Peach Showtime in March 2024
- Grezzo: Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora’s Mask 3D, Luigi’s Mansion 3D, Link’s Awakening remake, Miitopia remaster; co-developed Triforce Heroes with EPD 3
- HAL Laboratory: Known primarily for Kirby; in recent years, they’ve also made the Boxboy games and Part-Time UFO. Prior to roughly the mid-2000s, their output was a bit more varied, including titles such as the first Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Ranger, the first two Smash Bros., and co-developing Earthbound and Mother 3
- Warpstar Inc. is responsible for managing the Kirby IP specifically (essentially, it’s The Pokemon Company but for Kirby); HAL owns 50% of its shares while Nintendo owns the other 50%
- Kirby series director Shinya Kumazaki called Kirby and the Forgotten Land “the first step in our kind of ongoing moving forward challenge of now also creating 3D Kirby games”, indicating they intend to follow up the now best-selling Kirby game with another 3D entry
- multiple job listings specifically for developing (pretend to be shocked) Kirby games; presumably looking to fill the gap left by external developer Vanpool, which worked with HAL on several Kirby spin-offs as well as Forgotten Land and Return to Dreamland Deluxe before shutting down in May 2023
- indieszero: Electroplankton, NES Remix series (with EPD 8), Sushi Striker, Brain Training for Nintendo Switch (with EPD 4), Big Brain Academy Brain vs Brain (with EPD 4)
- While not confirmed to be involved in the recently-announced Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, Masanobu Suzui (founder of indieszero) retweeted the game’s official announcement
- Intelligent Systems: Fire Emblem, Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack/Puzzle League, Paper Mario, WarioWare, Advance Wars, Pushmo/Pullblox
- Developing the upcoming Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door remake
- rumored Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War remake:
- Koei Tecmo: Pokemon Conquest, Metroid Other M, Hyrule Warriors games, Fire Emblem Warriors games, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Buddy Mission Bond (Japan-exclusive), Fire Emblem Three Houses (co-developed with Intelligent Systems)
- PlatinumGames: developer of the Bayonetta games and Astral Chain, co-developed Star Fox Zero with EPD
- Ubisoft: Mario+Rabbids games, Starlink Battle for Atlus (featured Starfox content in the Switch version)
Misc. Odds and Ends. Things that didn’t really fit anywhere else, big grain of salt for some of these
- references to Star Fox objects found in code for Switch Sports (the first released game to use EPD’s newest engine, ModuleSystem)
- PapaGenos claimed in August 2023 that he’d heard rumors of Smash Bros. Ultimate getting some kind of update in the future
- Masahiro Sakurai says a console port of Kid Icarus Uprising “sure would be nice” but notes that “without a team around to work on it, crafting a follow-up seems difficult”
- Hobonichi (MotheEarthbound creator Shigesato Itoi’s company) celebrating 30th anniversary of Earthbound/Mother 2: “To commemorate the 30th anniversary of MOTHER 2 ... we are planning a lot of fun in 2024” (almost certainly just merch, but noting it here just in case it’s something more)
- Nintendo investing up to approx. $880 million to “organically expand” its game development assets and creative culture, up to approx. $2.64 billion into Nintendo accounts and infrastructure; also constructing new 12-floor building for game production, expected to be completed by end of 2027
- reddit user lineup-leak: Gamecube classics will be available at launch of next console (specifically mentions Mario Kart Double Dash, Smash Melee, Metroid Prime 2 as launch titles, with Pokemon Colosseum, FE Path of Radiance, and Mario Party 4 also being tested for NSO)
- claims next Mario Kart will not be a launch title but will release within the first 6-12 months, describes next Mario as being “in final testing phase”
- Nintendo to give Forever Entertainment “significant financial support” in new publishing deal “to release several titles on Nintendo Switch”: This is from a while ago but (and someone can correct me if I’m wrong) I don’t think anything’s come of this yet
- Chris Dring/GamesIndustry.biz: ”Nintendo is actively meeting with independent developers to find new partners. Some of that is around publishing indie games, … but it’s also seeking studios that could work on some of its IP.”; “Nintendo regularly works with third-party teams, … But the company is looking to add to that roster, and I know of three studios that are deep in conversation around making games based on Nintendo brands”
- Nintendo survey asking about different Mario RPG games, including Mario&Luigi
- reddit user Advanced-Ad7780: Project X Zone 3 is currently in development (leak didn’t specify a developer, but the first two games were developed by Monolith Soft for the 3DS)
- Nintendo secures new trademarks for Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush and Fullblox (also known as Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, and Stretchmo) in Australia
- Doctre: Notes that Velan Studios (Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, started by Vicarious Visions founders Guha and Karthik Bala) is looking for people with AAA experience to work on a “cherished and widely adored IP”, speculates it could be a reboot of VV’s DK project
- Midori: “A game is in development at Nintendo with the codename Banquet”
- Brazil: “The June Direct should be the last "main one" focused on Switch 1; more remasters will be announced during the show (and my educated guess is that MP4 is showing up as a late 2024 title as well)”
Engine Talk: Finally, it’s a bit esoteric but with game engines becoming an increasingly common point of conversation and speculation, I figured I’d put together a rundown of some of the engines used in Nintendo games. This isn’t a comprehensive list (esp. because many studios use proprietary engines that aren’t well-documented), but should give a general idea of who uses what to make what (shouts-out to
OatmealDome on twitter for doing the datamining work whenever a new game comes out, and
MondoMega on Famiboards for maintaining a useful graphic that collates most of this information) )
- LunchPack
- Version 1: Nintendo Land, Mario Maker, Splatoon
- Version 2: Splatoon 2, Mario Maker 2, ARMS, Labo, Ring Fit Adventure, Game Builder Garage, Animal Crossing New Horizons
- ActionLibrary: 3D Land, 3D World, Mario Odyssey, menus/”wrapper” for 3D All-Stars, Bowser’s Fury, Captain Toad, F-Zero 99 (elements possibly can be traced back as far as Sunshine or Galaxy)
- KingSystem: Breath of the Wild
- ModuleSystem: Switch Sports, Splatoon 3, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Wonder, Mario vs Donkey Kong remake
- Nintendoware Bezel engine: Tetris 99/Pac-Man 99/Mario 35, WarioWare Get It TogetheWarioWare Move It, Super Mario Party/Mario Party Superstars, Clubhouse Games 51 Classics, Big Brain Academy Brain vs Brain, Everybody 1-2 Switch, Brain Training for Nintendo Switch, Endless Ocean Luminous
- RUDE (Retro Universal Design Engine or Retro Unified Development Environment, depending on which former dev you ask): all Retro Studios games
- Mint: most (all?) HAL Laboratory games since 2011's Return to Dreamland; upgraded and renamed Basil for Forgotten Land
- Unreal Engine 4: Yoshi's Crafted World, Pikmin 4, Princess Peach Showtime
- Unity: Jump Rope Challenge, Pokemon BDSP, Fire Emblem Engage, Super Mario RPG remake, Another Code Recollection
