Guess tears are now tired of falling, for how many times they did. Guess my lips are now tired of saying your name and sharing a part of our story. A year after, i moved on, yet there's this empty feeling that I just can't get rid of. The heart that beats for you did not changed tho, it still cares. It still speaks for you. I don't love you anymore. I know for a fact that I don't—do I?. It's just, sometimes I miss your familiar scent that lingers in my shirt, I still order your favorite drink that became my favorite too. I miss your clothes displayed in my closet, the keychain that I've won in a claw machine. I can't forget your favorite food, favorite color, favorite things. Oh well, I think we can never unlove a person...

2024.05.14 13:20 mcm8279 [Opinion] CBR.com: "From Captain James T. Kirk to Jean-Luc Picard to Kathryn Janeway to Michael Burnham, Star Trek has had many starship captains. But which is the best?" 1) Janeway, 2) Kirk, 3) Sisko, 4) Picard, 5) Burnham, 6) Pike, ... 8) Carol Freeman ..-

Joshua M. Patton (CBR)

CBR:
"A starship is only as good as her captain, and the same can be said for any Star Trek series. Luckily for the universe created by Gene Roddenberry six decades ago, there is no shortage of good captains to go around. The real question to consider is what exactly makes a "good" Star Trek captain? [...]
1) Janeway
Kathryn Janeway Is Starfleet's Most Impressive and Important Captain
In the first episode of Star Trek: Voyager, Captain Kathryn Janeway stranded her ship and crew 75,000 light-years from home to save the lives of an alien race who only lived nine years. Once caught in this hopeless situation, she integrated Maquis rebels into her crew and maintained Starfleet discipline when any other captain would've faced mutiny. She remained steadfastly committed to Starfleet ideals on her mission to get the crew home, despite the personal guilt and depression she felt because of her decision. With no Starfleet superiors to turn to for guidance or help, Janeway was the most accomplished captain in the universe.
Janeway was the first captain to make an alliance with the Borg, even saving a number of drones when that wasn't thought possible. Later, after violating the Temporal Prime Directive, she was able to get her crew back home and dealt a near-fatal blow to the Borg Collective in the process. Later, in Star Trek: Prodigy she faced her fear and traveled back to the Delta Quadrant to find and rescue Chakotay, her former first officer. While remaining a tough, demanding captain, Janeway became a mother figure to the crew of the USS Voyager and the USS Protostar. Starfleet is full of impossibly awesome heroes, but even among them Janeway stands alone.
[...]
2) Kirk
James T. Kirk Is the Very Model of a Modern Starfleet Captain
In Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, Leonard McCoy perfectly summed up what made James T. Kirk a quintessential Starfleet captain. "You did what you always do," he said to him after the destruction of their beloved USS Enterprise, "turn death into a fighting chance to live." Of all the captains on this list, Kirk was the best at balancing his role as quasi-military leader, explorer and friend to his crew. He inspired loyalty in his friends and enmity from his foes.
Where other captains turned to protocol or reason, Kirk was driven by his gut and his emotions. This was often an asset, but sometimes a detriment. Still, even when his emotions dominated his actions, like with the Klingons in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, he eventually did the right thing. He was deeply committed to Starfleet while remaining something of an outsider. He was a bit of a cowboy, from his eagerness for a fight to his penchant for romance. In Generations, Kirk was in "heaven" but he chose to leave that eternal paradise to help a fellow captain of the USS Enterprise.
3) Sisko
Benjamin Sisko Was a Captain, a Father and a Prophet
Benjamin Sisko should've been a captain from the second he appeared on the screen. He carried an authority and grit that no previous Starfleet commander had. He also had the unenviable responsibility of being the "lead" captain of a series when Starfleet was at war. Captain Sisko was a driven leader who made compromises when needed, specifically in the episode "In the Pale Moonlight." Yet, he was still a paragon of Starfleet, serving as an inspiration to many, not the least of whom was Nog, the first Ferengi in Starfleet.
Where Sisko truly excelled was as a father and a reluctant religious leader for the people of Bajor, not a Federation planet. In fact, because of his commitment to them through the prophets, he actively prevented Bajor from joining the Federation. This ultimately saved them when the Dominion War broke out. He continued to serve after his personal tragedy at Wolf 359, but his central priority was to his family, specifically his son Jake. Captain Sisko isn't just the best father in Star Trek, but perhaps one of the best 1990s TV fathers ever.
4) Picard
Jean-Luc Picard Is a Diplomatic Force Who Upholds Starfleet Morality
Captain Jean-Luc Picard was the second Star Trek commanding officer fans got to spend time with, and he was very different from his predecessor. Unlike Kirk, Picard mastered the art of delegation and leveraging the talents of his crew to address specific problems. He kept himself at a distance, for reasons which weren't fully explained until Star Trek: Picard Season 2. Still, he was the captain who didn't just continue the Starfleet mission, but also carried Star Trek beyond the original crew that defined it. Picard also had his flaws.
Captain Picard resigned from Starfleet for moral reasons, which took courage. However, there is an argument to be made that in leaving the organization behind, he removed himself from the only position where he could solve its problems. Even though his brief assimilation by the Borg wasn't his fault, he probably should not have remained in command after that. As both First Contact and Picard proved, he held onto unresolved trauma because of it. Yet, no matter what Jean-Luc Picard does, he can't help but be a true hero.
5) Burnham
From Mutineer to the Center Seat, Captain Michael Burnham Flies High
While it surprised fans to learn Michael Burnham was the secret sister of Star Trek's most famous Vulcan, her Season 1 mutiny was very like Spock. The first three seasons of Discovery followed Burnham on her path to redemption. In the 32nd Century, Burnham finally took her rightful place in command. Of course, she's as bad as Captain Kirk when it comes to violating the Starfleet rule about ship captains going on away missions.
Captain Burnham's brash confidence and certainty in the rightness of her actions are qualities captains are lauded for but play differently when the character isn't in command. Captain Burnham knows when to apply force and when to act with compassion. Once she arrived in the 32nd Century, she rededicated herself to Starfleet and the Federation, standing as one of the best examples of heroism and leadership they have. Burnham is the only captain fans have watched go from no rank to command, and that journey makes her great.
[...]
7) Archer
Captain Jonathan Archer Was the Starfleet Prototype
He was almost impossibly stubborn, leading him to make almost as many mistakes as he did victories. During the Season 3 war arc on Enterprise, Captain Archer made ethical compromises such as attacking innocent vessels for parts or torturing a prisoner for information.
For all those flaws, Captain Archer showed the galaxy the best of humanity more often than he didn't. His sense of fair play endeared humanity to other species in the galaxy, leading directly to the creation of the Federation. There was no blueprint for him to follow, and he also had to deal with time-travelers trying to alter history for the worse. His willingness to challenge authority and confront political taboos proved that humanity made the galaxy a better, more compassionate place."
8) Carol Freeman
Captain Carol Freeman Is the Best Captain on Lower Decks
The crew on Star Trek: Lower Decks are, first and foremost, truly cartoonish characters in what is ostensibly a workplace comedy. They are able to be more reckless, less efficient and just plain sillier than most figures in this universe. With all that in mind, Captain Carol Freeman of the USS Cerritos isn't all that bad at her job. She is a careerist, which isn't often an admirable quality in Star Trek. In other series, her mistakes or the things she allows the crew to get away with, would be almost unforgivable.
Thankfully, like the rest of the Star Trek misfits on Lower Decks, in context, Captain Freeman has the heart of a true Starfleet hero. Despite the bumbling Admiral she was paired with, Captain Freeman helped bring a former Federation enemy, the Ferengi, into the fold. When she was framed at the end of Season 2 and arrested, her faith in Starfleet never wavered. Lastly, no matter how badly her crew screws up, Captain Freeman never loses faith in their ability or willingness to do the right thing. While this might not earn her a Starfleet promotion, it does earn the kind of undying loyalty from the crew all good Star Trek captains enjoy.
[...]
11) Lorca
The first captain of the USS Discovery, Gabriel Lorca would rank even lower if he could. Arguably, the revelation Captain Lorca hailed from the Mirror Universe was a big twist in Discovery Season 1, that may have hurt the show. As many fans and crewmembers alike noted that first season, under his command, the vibe was off. Still, as much as Lorca did not represent the best Starfleet had to offer, he has his merits.
His creepy affection for Michael Burnham led to her reinstatement, and she was able to stop the Federation-Klingon War she was blamed for starting. In the beginning of the series, the officers serving on the USS Discovery were not a cohesive crew. He forced them to work together, uniting the disparate group with a common purpose. Lorca's utter disregard for Starfleet ideals inadvertently guided the crew into an even stronger commitment to them.

2024.05.14 13:12 Gold_Software_4309 print-on-demand service in India

Print-on-demand (POD) services in India have seen significant growth in recent years, largely due to the rise of e-commerce and the increasing demand for customized products. POD allows individuals and businesses to create custom-designed products such as t-shirts, mugs, phone cases, and more, with designs printed on them as per the customer's requirements, and then produced and shipped on demand.
Several POD platforms and companies(like Blinkstore) have emerged in India to cater to this growing market. These platforms typically offer a user-friendly interface for uploading designs, selecting products, and setting prices.

2024.05.14 13:00 Artistic-Scratch-718 Noob Coal Decision

Hi guys! I’m new in WOWS (just purchased my first tier VII tech tree ships) but I’ve saved a lot of coal in the process, like around 160k, so I’m looking for my first coal purchase and I don’t know if it’s better a ship or a leg captain in my situation.
Just a few info: - I love DDs even if I’m still learning to use every class - I have a coupon for coal ships - I have few premium ships thanks to drops and events: Azuma and Jäeger mainly speaking
Any advice is appreciated! Thank you in advance!!

2024.05.14 12:56 Significant-Cut-2145 My neighbour the priest ✝️

Sorry for my bad grammar I’m not good at writing but i wanted to share. Around a year ago I (15F) at the time lived in a smallish house with my single mother, my mum is a very bubbly woman who can start a conversation with anyone and is loved by everyone. I remember one morning hearing her talk to someone outside my bedroom window just shrugging it off I eventually went downstairs to ask who she was talking too. Finding out she was talking to our new neighbour. She was very sympathetic towards him as she described him as very old (she said around 95ish) and lived by himself, a nurse coming to visit him a few times a month, my mum also found out while talking to him he had no family members as they all passed so it really was just him she also mentioned that he was a priest which I found quite creepy.
a few weeks had passed by and my mum been the kind woman she was cut our new neighbours grass for him and would usually strike up a conversation out of pity. I just want to mention that I never saw this man once I’d just heard about him from my mums daily rambling.
My house had a window at the top of my stairs that if you looked out of faces the priests house and as they were almost identically built there was a window facing right back at ours, again I never saw this man only his dim landing light on. It had now been around 3 months since I’d heard from the priest. This One night i will never forget, around 1am I’d gone downstairs to get somthing to eat and on my journey back up the stairs and too my bedroom I looked out the landing window out of just pure instinct. There on the opposite side was the old man , his hand gripping the banister as he helped himself up the stiars, the lighting was terrible but he was very skinny as old people usually are. Been nosy I stood there for a moment wanting to get a good look at him, he was hunched over slightly as he struggled to almost carry his own body weight and I swore I could see the ridges of his spine thought his shirt as he hobbled out of view of the window. Not to be mean but this freaked me the fuck out and I immediately went to my room trying to get that disturbing image out my head before I slept.
Around a week maybe two later the priests nurse showed up at our door asking if we’d seen him recently as she was unable to get into his house as it was completely locked and sealed. she hadn’t heard from him in over 4 months and was getting concerend for his well being. I wasn’t at home to tell her I’d seen him in the window as I was at school so my mother just said she hadnt heard from him either. The nurse called the police who broke down his door. I was just walking home as i reached my house, the police giving another blow at the door with like a pole thing i dont really know what it was all I do know is that when the door finally came down the smell that left that house could make anyones toes curl. All I can describe it as is when ur cat brings home a mouse and it dies under your couch without you knowing.
Rushing inside I immediately went up to my room. Peering out my bedroom window watching the police enter his house, covering their noses. I don’t really remember what happened after that except when they wheeled his body out in a black bag and into the back of a black van. It was sad really I’d never gotten to speak to him and I’d now felt guilty for been so horrified by his appearance.
My mum was also distraught by his passing and was talking to the police outside. The house took weeks to be cleaned as when he’d died all the windows and doors were shut, keeping the smell locked in.
When the police left and the street went silent again i found myself spending more time with my mum downstairs, she has always been religious so as we spoke she lit a candle for him out of respect and to help him pass into heaven. Bringing up the putrid smell I asked her what the police told her. And what she told me has stuck with me since that day. They said he’d died a few months ago and had been found, decomposing in his bed.
At first i just shrugged this off when she spoke, yeah it was disturbing but more sad nobody had noticed his disappearance. But then it clicked. If he died a few months ago, who was it that I saw through the window? I mentioned this to my mum, she also knew I’d never saw or spoke to him while he was alive so she asked me what he looked like.
Wispy white hair and a boney hunch. I still remember her face drop from a blush pink to a pale white.
We moved out a month later.
This story isn’t that interesting as I haven’t had many scary paranormal? Things happen to me but it’s a true story so I hope you enjoyed :)

2024.05.14 12:51 AlikKhan Suggestions on how I can use my gaming laptop on my lap and not burn?

Now I think the usual way to use it is normally on a desk as the temps get so high but I usually game on the couch or in my bed so it is always on my lap. This often gets too hot for my skin and then I have to put a t shirt or something over my legs. Any suggestions on the best ways to mitigate this without blocking the intake vents underneath?

2024.05.14 12:40 Odd_Discipline_777 Branding Lesson 2

In 2013, when embarking on the journey of brand building for Raindrops, I was largely unaware of the intricate process that goes into shaping and establishing a brand. The concept of what defines a brand was relatively vague, and the steps required to create, nurture, and build a brand were still unfamiliar territory. I only had a rudimentary understanding of the level of strategic planning and consistent effort that goes into making a brand truly impactful and memorable in the minds of consumers.
Throughout the year, I consistently wore t-shirts from my Raindrops brand. Despite my friend's playful teasing, I remained committed to my brand building process. Eventually, after sponsoring a local cricket team in a tournament, people started asking for the t-shirts. This led to a sudden demand for free t-shirts, which in turn, promoted my brand significantly.
Whilst the impact may have seemed small at first, it was undeniably significant and meaningful. It was the kind of impact that resonates deeply, leaving a lasting impression. The name I carry and the brand I represent became well-known and recognized by people. It was a testament to the power of small changes and the profound effect they can have when properly leveraged.

2024.05.14 12:29 Kon_Artiste *Spoiler for book 8* died like an idiot.

Has anyone else ever considered that one death was kind of dumb? You have a political leader in a time of impending war who didn't trust all of the people working closest to him. He also makes impenetrable armoured clothing. And yet he somehow, was stabbed in the back. Literally, in the back. Putting aside the fact that it was not smart of Ravel to assume that Ghastly wasn't wearing any armoured clothes under his elder robes, it was even less smart of Ghastly to not be wearing them. Because why on earth wouldn't you be in that situation? It's not like he has to have a full suit under there, he's perfectly capable of making smaller items just as impenetrable (see Valkyries freak mask from Kingdom of the Wicked). So there really is no reason, other than stupidity for him to not be wearing at least a bullet-proof t-shirt at all times.

2024.05.14 12:29 prospectiveboi177 Rohit doesn’t deserve hate just that Virat deserves appreciation

It's not like Rohit deserves hate. It's just that Virat deserves more love. I see a lot of anti-Rohit posts. Honestly, some of them resonate with me, but most don't. There's this strong hate sentiment towards Rohit Sharma, mainly due to some media stuff, which might or might not be true. But it’s not like he deserves all that hate. The same fans should've shown a lot more love to Kohli when he was the captain.
I always saw Kohli's captaincy as bittersweet. Starting with the first-ever win in Australia, then the first-ever loss against Pakistan in an ICC trophy final, and also the 2019 campaign. Kohli had one of the toughest captaincy stints of all time. Not because he had a bad team—he had a fantastic team. But he had to play three ICC trophies in England, where India has historically struggled, except for that freaky 2013 Champions Trophy.
Kohli had to jump through some of the toughest hoops. He got no home conditions or pitch of his choice. Instead, he played in conditions where swing was prominent, something our openers struggled against. And he faced teams that knew how to make the best out of swing. The 2019 campaign was especially tough. He was succeeding Dhoni and his exceptional 2015 effort. In 2019, I think I saw one of the best World Cup captaincies.
People trolled him for saying it was 45 minutes of bad cricket that lost India the match, but he wasn’t wrong. India was blistering through the tournament and only lost because the conditions overwhelmed the match. The situation could have been different if India had to chase the same score against New Zealand on the same day, rather than the next day on a slightly moist pitch with a lot of swing and unpredictable bounce.
Not to forget, Kohli lost Shikhar Dhawan in the first leg of the World Cup. Though Rohit's heroics saved us, it was tough to overcome losing a champion ICC tournament batter early on. Sure, we did well in 2023 and had a lot of advantages. Rohit had an even better team than 2011. But this isn't about bashing Rohit; it's about praising Virat for taking India through some of the toughest competitions and facing three finals in England.
Peace.
