At 9 PM, my roommate Martine pulled her knees closer to her chest and corrected her balance on the bay window bench seat. She never once looked at me as I finished neatening up the living room behind her. I didn’t expect her to notice me. She was waiting for her new love interest, Baylun. Nothing short of setting her clothes on fire would break her concentration before he arrived.
That’s why I didn’t bother to ask her if I looked okay. Yes, I wanted to make a good impression on Baylun because being presentable is being polite. Also, I didn’t want to give Martine any reason to leave me without her monthly half of the rent. If she left despite me being as perfect as I can be, well, nothing I can do about that. And given how intensely she was staring out the window, I wouldn’t be surprised if she expected Baylun to propose tonight. On their third date.
As if she’d read my mind, she spoke without turning her head. “Would you add him to the lease? I mean, if you like Baylun?”
“My Aunt Gloria might okay it. There’s enough room here. We can ask.” Why did I feel the need to appease her and pretend I wouldn’t be uncomfortable as the third wheel in my aunt’s rental house? My best guess is because appeasing and pretending are the cornerstones of my life, I’m very good at them.
Luckily, Martine was already not listening. “He’s here,” she whispered, sliding off the bench seat. After picking up her silk shawl, she partially opened our front door. Footsteps coming up our front steps stopped at what I presumed was the top step.
Beaming, she opened the door and invited him in. The man who entered had to duck to get in and I had to stop myself for apologizing to him. He was well dressed, looked like the proverbial “million dollars” and as he bent to give Martine a kiss on the cheek, I saw his eyes.
I froze for a moment, staring at the wrinkles around his eyes. Inhaling sharply, I blinked and shifted my gaze to Martine. She’d described Baylun as mature for his age. She’d failed to tell me he was at least middle age. That may sound ageist and I’m sorry for that but Martine and I are both 22 years old and Baylun looked twice that. He might be kind and, as Martine mentioned more than once, rich, but he might also be constantly on the lookout for a younger model than the one currently on his arm. Far be it from me to pass judgment without proof, but I would need more than Martine’s affirmation to feel comfortable with him as a roommate.
Introductions were short if not sweet. Baylun extended his hand and shook mine, which gave me some relief. If he’d kissed my hand I would undoubtedly have done nothing except internally cringe.
“Are you ready?” he asked, looking first at Martine who nodded enthusiastically. Then he looked at me and raised his eyebrows as if waiting for a reply. My jaw dropped, in real time.
Martine stared at me for half a second before jumping in to save me. “Lise was just getting her sweater, right, Lise?”
Thanks for covering for me, Martine. My plans for the night included pjs as soon as you guys left, but how could I say no? Except for flat out saying “No” which would be unthinkable.
“Right, I forgot it, and where are we going?” I squished in behind Martine, reached into the closet and took the top sweater from the neatly folded pile in the sweater drawer.
Baylun made a noise that was probably meant to sound like laughter. “Heddon’s Hill. To see the stars. Cloudless night tonight!”
Martine clapped her hands a couple of times, giving me a jolt of second-hand embarrassment. “Baylun asked me to keep it a secret. He brought a bottle of really good wine. It’s in his car, right, babe?”
Baylun didn’t say anything as he put his hand on her cheek like she was a child. She stared at him, as if in a trance. He didn’t purr audibly but that’s the best way I can describe his facial expression. Then I looked him in the eyes and the silence that followed hurt my ears.
A wave of panic immobilized me. I looked away and struggled to put on the sweater.
When he spoke, he whispered but it felt like thunder to my ears. “Perhaps a heavier outer layer?”
Martine snapped back into reality. “You look cold. Grab a hoodie, we’ll meet you in the car.”
That was the out I needed. “You know what, I feel awful. Go ahead, enjoy. I’ll take cold meds and try to be awake when you get back, to hear all about it.” To convey sadness at missing out on being a third wheel and resigned acceptance of impending illness, I grimaced and shrugged.
Martine considered me for a moment before agreeing. She leaned gently against Baylun’s arm and squeezed his hand. “Could we be back in an hour, babe?”
He turned his full attention on her and nodded. “Yes. We will. Goodbye, Lise.”
I thought about saying goodbye and decided a coughing fit would be more suitable. As I covered my mouth with my left elbow, I waved weakly with my right hand. The two lovebirds got into the car and when I heard it backing down the driveway, I poured a couple of teaspoons of night time anti-cold liquid down the sink. To make sure I smelled like I’d taken it, I licked the spoon before washing it.
When they returned, Martine walked in at a slower pace than usual and Baylun put his arm under hers as soon as they were both inside, so she could lean on him. She didn’t seem upset. She also didn’t make eye contact with me. My first thought was she had a bit too much wine, but we’ve had drinks together. She’s always been a little louder, a little more animated after a bit of alcohol. I started wondering if she’d consumed something other than wine while stargazing. Not judging, just trying to find an explanation that didn’t scare me about her health.
Instead of speaking to me, Baylun nodded and continued supporting Martine, helping her through the house. I reasoned he was taking her to the bathroom or her bedroom, so I squeezed in beside him and ran to open her bedroom door. Baylun led her to the far side of her bed so he was facing me, and helped her to lie down.
Except he didn’t lay her down right away. He held her halfway between standing and lying down, stared into my eyes and put his mouth on her neck.
I know how this sounds. My brain undoubtedly recognized the set-up. Yet I was unprepared for what happened.
Baylun retracted his lips, revealing two bloody fangs and touched Martine’s neck as if searching for something. Just before his fingers found them, I saw two wounds on her neck. He positioned his fingers so his fangs went into the wounds. Martine shuddered for a second, then sighed and stopped moving.
I inhaled sharply. Nothing made sense and I couldn’t remember how to move. When I realized my hand was still on the door handle, I leaned on it slightly, turned and ran to the front door.
Baylun met me there. I didn’t hear him walking or running. He wasn’t at the door and then he was, positioned to prevent me from opening it. He wasn’t frowning. He didn’t lean towards me or touch me, for which I was grateful.
But his eyes. They sparkled, they were bright and lively, and they were wrinkle-free. He looked my age, not middle aged. He looked like the guy I’d met an hour earlier, only younger.
I took a step backwards.
He took a step forward and spoke, his voice quiet and calm.
“If you say anything to her about what you saw, I will deny it and she will believe me. Then I will show you what it’s like to burn in hell.”
This was the second time in one night life handed me a “get out of trouble” card and I grabbed it with both hands. Frowning with the hopes of presenting as confused, I asked, “Okay, I thought it was very kind of you to bring her home, but I think I get it. What’s our story if she asks?”
He crossed his arms and studied me for a long moment. “I’m glad you understand. You can take credit for getting her into bed.”
I nodded and brought my left hand to my mouth, trying to look thoughtful. “And you asked her to text when she gets up tomorrow? Or is that too much?”
He chuckled and uncrossed his arms. “That’s just what I was thinking.” He stared at my mouth.
A rush of fear froze me in place. “Everything okay?”
“It will be.” He pointed at the right side of my mouth.
A sharp pain on the side of my face woke me up. It was still dark. I was in my bed. I tried sitting up and learned my pillowcase was stuck to the corner of my mouth.
Instant panic. I picked up the pillow and ran to the bathroom where a quick glance in the mirror above the sink revealed the substance wasn’t glue, it was blood. As awful as that was, my initial reaction was “Better than glue.” A little warm water on a face cloth eased the pillowcase off my skin and I set the case and face cloth on the counter.
For a brief moment I felt absolute relief. I held onto the sides of the sink and took a deep breath.
A drop of blood landed on the right side of the sink.
Blood could be from biting my lip, or inside of my cheek or even my tongue in my sleep. Or a nosebleed.
Another drop of blood landed on the sink.
It was so weird. Nothing hurt. Not my nose, not my lip, not my tongue. I struggled to figure out what I did, why I would be bleeding. Did I do something foolish before I went to bed?
I couldn’t remember going to bed.
Time to look in the mirror. There wasn’t any obvious damage, so I used my fingers to move my lips away from the right side of my mouth.
My canine tooth was missing. Another, sharper tooth was working its way out of the gums. That’s where the blood was coming from.
I leaned in and looked more closely at it. The emerging canine was definitely tearing through the gum, making it bleed.
A scream worked its way up my throat. I stood up, ramrod straight, shut my mouth and gently placed the face cloth on it.
I tiptoed down the hall to Martine’s bedroom door. It was shut. She was breathing in a regular pattern, not quite snoring.
I came back to my bedroom and checked my phone. 4:45 AM. When did I come to bed? Baylun was here, I remembered him with Martine and then at the door. Seems like he’s gone, unless he’s sitting in the dark in the living room or kitchen.
Any other day, Martine would be waking up in two hours. If she does, I don’t doubt she’ll be excited to hear Baylun wants her to text him.
I want to throw up. A few hours ago, life felt so normal. Now a giant canine tooth is pushing its way into my mouth. Maybe the other one is, too. I don’t care to find out. I also don’t want to go to the hospital where I’ll run out of answers before the staff run out of questions.
Maybe I can take a couple of days off work, see if the new dental situation affects my sleep schedule. Maybe I can find a night job.
Or maybe I’m a vampire, condemned to a life of hunting humans and being hunted by humans. I’m going to wait until Martine gets up before posting this. She might have a lot more information on this.
My mind is clearer now. My memories are back. It’s time for me to disappear from Martine’s and my Aunt Gloria’s lives. I can do it. I must do it. For their safety, and for mine. Everything is not okay. Not yet.

before you downwote me, trust me, i KNOW what it's like to be severely constipated. i was constipated my whole childhood. i've had times when i only pooped once a week, and i've given birth to turds the size of large water bottles. i've had times when i thought i needed to call an ambulance, because my asshole was about to rip apart and it was bleeding. this went away though as i hit puberty, and i had normal poops for years.
but now i've been feeling like i have a permanent stomach virus for the past 6 months. i can't do anything. i'm either stuck on the toilet and shitting water, or laying in bed feeling absolutely exhausted and weak from all the fluid loss. the only thing that helps me is imodium, but i try not to take it when i'm home, because i'm slowly developing a tolerance. i try so hard not to feel suicidal, but i just can't accept that this might be my life now. i genuinely wish i had IBS-C instead of this chronic diarrhea. i'm only 18, i don't even know how the fuck i am supposed to start university this year.

After stopping a prednisone taper I developed a nasty skin rash that was folliculitis. Was given real antibiotics and a cream as well. Funny thing is when I take the antibiotics the first day it was kind of rough on my gut but every time I take them my stools are better. Is there a reason behind this, I see a lot of posts that say they wreck your gut but for me it helped which was weird making me think there might be another problem other than UC. Thanks

I’ve rejoined this subreddit for support as my binging has gotten pretty bad again recently. I cant pinpoint the cause but I suspect a couple different reasons that are out of my control. Every time I am alone I want to eat, eat, eat. Yesterday I had a chipotle bowl, papa johns (whole tray of cheese sticks and whole tray of brownies), bagel, smoothie, chips/salsa. I threw the whole day away bc I was so lethargic afterwards. I thought about purging purely to feel more comfortable.
Today I have to go into work with an upset stomach and terrible acid reflux. I feel a little guilty, but remind myself that I need to stop focusing on these feelings and start focusing on moving on.
Has anyone reached out to their significant others for support? I want to talk to mine but I cant shake the feeling of humiliation even though I know he’d be supportive. How did that conversation go?

Hi everyone. I am new to the group and Joe's teachings. I saw him multiple times, even my mom sent me his audio book long time ago but I was out of my mind at those times, drugs, alcohol, smoking, unhealthy lifestyle. I was using those since I was 13, this year I became 30 and for very long time I want to change my life. I was practicing various meditations for past 5 years, quited a lots of stuff, but I am still addicted to kratom, which is kind of natural painkiller but can be very dangerous and it messes up with my skin, stomach, brain chemistry, etc. This is last thing that I want to quit, otherwise I am done with all other drugs. But whenever I used to quit kratom, I come back to alcohol, which means it's psychological, not substance addiction. I simply cannot handle stress or life in general when I am sober. I bought a book of Dr Joe recently "Becoming supernatural", it's very intresting but it's hard for me to read because I don't remember last book that I have read fully. But I am doing my best now and try to do meditations from YouTube as well. I truly hope that I will quit it soon, I love being sober so much, I remember times when I was quiting everything and those memories are so pure and beautiful. I want me come back to me. I want to come back home, where I was who I am for real, without fake highness. I wanted to ask you, if you ever been addicted to any of substances and successfully quited it with Joe's meditations? Which books, meditations are the most valuable in such situations?

Excited, I am using the voy plan, I have a pretty iron stomach, it would take serious food poisoning for me to get diarrhea like lots of people mention. Is this common?

Hello, Sorry in advance for the following long text.
I (M27) am married to my wife (W25) since last year ( civil marriage). And since 2018 (religious)
We have been together since 11 years. And I can't imagine a life without her. For you to understand I have to start at the beginning of our journey.
I met her when she was 16 and I was 18. First contact was through Facebook and we met shortly after for the first time. Before we met we called each other on a daily basis for hours and hours. We were in love without seeing each other.
At our first RL date we had a really good time and our love grew stronger.
Context for religion (it'll be important later)
I was raised as a "Christ" (My parents aren't religious at all) She was raised Muslim.
It happend that I had rough times in my teens, divorced parents lost grandparents etc.
I discovered Islam for me and it helped me In my situation. That was before I met my wife.
At that time I didn't had the courage to tell my mother and go to a Mosque.
Through my wife I got the courage and converted to Islam "officially". That was really awesome and I love my wife for the strength she gave me at the time.
At our first date, i was curious that she lied to her mother about me. And soon I would understand why.
Everything was alright and we had a long distance relationship a couple months (it takes 4 hours to get to her by train). Occasionally we met etc. But one day she called my crying and her voice was full of fear. Her (divorced) parents and her extended family found out that we were dating and there were fourious. That day I learnd about her family and the fact that thei were religious hardliners.
My wife told me that she was locked up in a room because they found out about me. And was threatened with death. Because they thought we had sex before marriage and that would be a sin etc. They told her stuff about honor killing. And she will soon die. She managed to get out there and begged me for help. I was devastated and I had no car nor the time to travel that far.
She wanted to flee from that town and her family. She had no money to buzz train tickets. I bought her tickets from my town. And send them over to her via Whatsapp.
It worked and she was on her way to me. And away from the bad people. We didn't call the police because nobody of us could think at the moment. At the same evening police knocked on my door ( I lived by my parents at the time) I was reported to the police because child kidnapping she was 16 and I was 18.
After that the times got harder she had to go to a safehouse etc. I received death threats and stuff via Whatsapp and calls from her mother. They would kill me, skin me, or rape me sister.
MZ biggest fear was for my wife. She was alone in that safehouse thing and I couldn't comfort her. For her the times had to be much harder then for me. And now I still feel guilty for what happened to her. On some days I wish didn't met her so that she could have a normal life :(
We went through that time year after year. It was a hard time, especially for her. Until we moved together. 2 years after that incident.
My family to was upset about that whole situation and I had to brake with them. They made things difficult because they had no empathy towards my wife or her situation.
4 years after the incident with her family she reunited with her mother and her sisters ( she wanted that and I can't speak against her, it is her decision and I am here to help her?)
Sure I wasn't happy but I accepted it because my wife wanted to, and that is what she needed to be happy, okay. Her mother stayed a week. She didn't apologize and came only for the reason make a religious wedding. So that " her daughter wouldnt live in sin".
Occasionally she phoned with her mom.
Fast forward a couple months.
She wants to visit her mother and her Grandma. Her Grandma is very important to her. But I wouldn't let her go alone and she didn't want to go alone so I went with her.
Her mom talked to people there and it should be safe for my wife. But not for me. I had to hide in the trunk of pure car so that no one sees me. She could roam freely and could visit her grandmother and other relatives.
I had to stay in the house of her mother. I didn't feel good in that environment but she was happy to see some people and this was worth it.
Years after that and more visits in her hometown later my wife was upset that I had to hide Everytime. (Only her mother knew about me,still being her husband)
Then her mother and my wife told everyone (extender relatives) that I am from Albany and she met at her University or something.
We made a bigger wedding in Turkey for with a video and other stuff to show of to her family. It was a wedding purely for them. They talked my wife down and I wanted to say something but my wife told me to keep my thoughts for my self.
After the wedding we visited her family more often and I have to say that some of her uncles are good people. But I can't feel accepted because I live a lie when I am there. They don't like me because of who I am, the "like" me because of the person they think I am.
That she visits her mother more frequently is not as good as I hoped because every dam time they shout at each other, her Mom gives her the fault on everything that happened. Her sisters too. That can't be good for any person, especially my wife. And was furios how they treat her after everything what went wrong I flipped and shouted at them. Only for my wife to angry towards me because I don't respect her family. One day it escalated between my wife and her younger sister (F18) and they began to punch each other. I held them back and shouted. My whole life I wasn't this angry. I immediately grabbed our suitcase and left this hellhole town.
This time my wife wasn't angry at me for shouting and everything was "normal". But after one week everything was alright between her and her sister.
My wife is treated like shit from her family every time she visits them, she is obviously very sad about this but she can't want to talk about it. She only says it is her family it is okay.
But nothing is okay, my wife is in bad condition emotionally and i can't stand it anymore. It breaks my heart everyday I see her so sad. And I can't do anything about it because she doesnt let me.
The last two years we can't live one week without a big fight. Fight over simple stuff like open toothpaste or "there is one spoon in the sink". And Everytime it breaks my heart. I know about her trauma and want to considerate it but sometimes when she gets too offensive or hits me (not with her fist, with her flat hand) I get aggressiv too and shout something back. Then she's sad and I feel guilty. Points she makes in big arguments are my

• Religion (I am only a Muslim because of her, wich is wrong)
  
• I don't like her family ( because I don't like to visit them)
  

Fast forward to today.
Sadly her Grandma passed away and she was devastated. Me too because her grandma was the only person In her family that truly liked me and I liked her.
Her grandma was hospitalized two months ago and the last month we were 28 out of 30 days in her hometown to visit her grandma. I had to call in sick at work to make it work and support my wife.
And after her grandma passed away they organized her funeral in Beirut Lebanon (we live in Germany). I didn't want to go because there is a war going on in that part of the world. And the funeral there is a very personal thing where only the closest family members are allowed. My wife had to go. She told me that in advance. It wasn't easy to support her idea because i was afraid that something will happen to her.
But she said it's part of her journey and she has to go. Her heart wanted that.
The only thing I can do is, to provide emotional support. And I did that. She arrived safe at home after a week. But then the things got worse.
The times are very difficult because is it almost impossible to do the right thing. I want to be there for her, but I also want to give her space that she needs. But nothing seems to work. And I know that griefing is a very personal thing and it doesn't work like. "Uh I happy again now"
What I want to say with "nothing seems to work" is her outbursts get worse she always withdraws further and further. I tried everything, i actively try to talk with her, then I try to let her have space.
But it doesn't matter what I do, she always finds a reason to argue with me and threaten me with divorce. If I let her have space, "you don't care about me" If I actively want to talk " you talk too much, I need my space" Once I considerd a therapy because all of the emotional trauma and the result was the biggest fight I have in a long time.
I can't stand the outburst anymore. Last time she said it's my fault that she doesn't saw her grandma frequently. And that one left me devastated and heartbroken. All I wanted in my life was to make her happy and now she is more heartbroken then ever :(
Sometimes she can be very impatient. Like yesterday, it was late and we had a big fight, after everything was over I wanted to take a quick shower because I had to wake up at 5 o'clock and it was 0:30 She was in the bedroom and wanted a bottle of water, I said "just one minute, I have to take a shower and the Ill come upstairs and bring water" "but I want my water now! She shouted again. And I said " then come downstairs and get some water, I have to work tomorrow and I need a shower"
Then it escalated again and I brought her water. Then she said she'll go back to her family and will leave me divorce me, and I would keep her away from her family etc. This is not the first time she threatened with divorce. It happens really often and I don't know if she is serious or just angry.
I don't want her to be sad with me. If she doesn't feel well with me she has to go. It'll break me but she deserves a good and happy life. She had enough bad stuff in her life. I don't want to make her life bad.
I would like to have a therapy for both of us. But she don't want to. And if I say I would like to have Therapie, she is upset because she don't know why I would need therapy, and she is the one who lost a family member.
I don't know what I can do to make her feel better. I am afraid she leaves me, but at the same time I don't want to keep her away from the life she wants.

My partner is currently tapering off of abilify. Her pharmacist also increased her Zoloft prescription and she is on Vyvanse as well. She took her first lowered dose of abilify and increased dose of Zoloft yesterday and has been unable to sleep, horrible headache, severe stomach upset/nausea and she is feeling very overheated. We knew the side effects would be difficult but it has been hard to get any helpful information from doctors, especially around what to expect as she tapers off. We are both wondering what side effects would be considered so severe that we should go to the hospital? I’m also wondering if there is anything that could help? Particular foods etc?

Feeling a little insecure.. my boyfriend went down to FL for a 4-day concert. He mentioned a lot of “small women” that he repeatedly talked to and helped when the crowds got tight (Slipknot concert). Supposedly feeling obligated to “protect them.” And mentioned a girl that was all emotional that he kept watching and chose to approach. And then supposedly she lost her phone so he called her sister for her. And then walked her to her car. And I guess she texted him a few times about getting her phone back. The story was not entirely adding up. We’ve been dating 6 years and I’ve never doubted his loyalty. But we have been long distance for 2 years. And I just didn’t sit right with me. It felt like his attention wasn’t on the concert. And I barely received any texts from him those 4 days. Am I overrracting or paranoid? I got a little upset when he told me and expressed that I worry about the long distance. But he reassured me. But I still feel sick to the stomach about it. When I go out I never entertain a single guy, nevermind get their number. Is there reason to worry?

I'm allergic! Also I didn't know u couldn't be in the room with it when it's curing. I had some orders n had 5 or 6 things curing n fell asleep in the room with it. I had already burned my face badly n broke out on the backs of my hand n arms but I was wearing gloves so idt it was the epoxy. I woke up two days later with epoxy inside my skin. I was completely covered in it n I had proper ppe. I didn't wear a ventilation mask. I thought u only had to have it in well ventilated area when mixing n I took it outside to mix it. Long story short. Id recommend to anyone not to handle any type of resin if they are allergic. I tried uv resin and it made it come back. When it come back it does it with a vengeance worse every time. I wouldn't wish what happened to me on anyone. I've been sick since January n it makes me not be able to breathe. I couldn't walk talk or breathe after taking a shower n washing my hair. I paralyzed me for about an hour n caused me to hurt all down my left side. Drs can't or won't help me. I guess it was build up in me n poisoned me long term exposure. I had places on my stomach I couldn't get off n I take steroid pack n soon as I got done it would come back just like I poured it over my whole body. U could even see pour marks. Its been a living nightmare. I caught pneumonia. My neck swells n I end up in the hospital.my whole body is swells but when my necks swells I can't breathe. Taking a shower makes my neck swelling go down. Its done some crazy things to me. I put peroxide on my chin n it made it swells out the size of a pool ball n turned red as a coke can instantly. Set me on fire. Idk the drs believed me. I called poison control they didn't believe me.. I've been to my family dr she said come back in August. Ive thought i was dying a few times. Only thing I found to get it out of my skin is fast orange n shop towels. I t had to take 4n 5 hours shower just scrubbing my body. I have ut in my teeth. I can taste it all the time but when I shower it's worse. I've had my skin turn different colors. My lips black n eyelids purple. I'm still talking funny n that last time I used resin was middle if March. People please do research n find out all about it before u use it. I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I've been through. I love epoxy art n im currently looking fir a good alternative. It broke my heart to have to stop using it. I started using it in October n I didn't have any problems until I got some off ebay. I was just getting my business started. If anyone knows a good kud friendly preferably lol please let me know. If anyone has went through this crazy stuff n have any advice please let me know. I'm slowly getting better but I'm just guessing my way through this. I was in China for 17 days and upon return have developed mild blisters that spread from my leg to torso. The leg regions have lightened drastically. I’ve also gone through a brief fever and am now just stuffy and clogged up in my nose. Had diarrhea for a day.
The blister? Rash spots? Don’t rlly itch but if I scratch them I will want to keep scratching.

Before I even start I'm going to say that I think this is a very unpopular opinion. I'm expecting the vast majority of the interactions on this post to be downvotes. Honestly, I don't mind, I want to make this post to see how the community feels about this topic because while I've seen some complaints I have not seen any discussions about it, and I wanted to do it before the event disappeared. With the semester finally over I have enough time to do a lot more stuff including making this post.
Before I say this though you should know

• This isn't because I don't like the game. This is literally the best game I've ever played IMO, and I've been playing since the first hour of launch. I play for hours every day and have almost every nikke (Isabel come home :/ )

-This isn't about money as I have a bunch of it, and have even bought multiple Gacha skins in the past. I have the vast majority of skins (missing a few) to put into perspective how much I spend.
-I love Shift Up, and they're quickly becoming my favorite game company, but I hate how they did this.
-This isn't about hate or anything like that I just wanted to express my opinion and see the communities collective idea of it.
-I have no problem with Gacha skins, if this was handled differently I would have been the first to pick up both skins.
The reason I'm making this post is to talk about the new skins in the game, and how I find them to be greedy, and also how they should not have been released that way.
I'm trying to say that the skins that have recently been released are pretty scummy and I feel the game could go in a bad direction this way. Let me explain why I think this.
I was originally going to get both the Marian skin and the crown skin until I learned some stuff about the Marian skin which is the one I have the bigger problem with. Why release a new permanent canonical look for the story as a gacha skin!?
I've played Gacha games since I was around twelve, and I'm 22 years old now in College and I've never seen something like this. I've never seen a company lock a new canonical look for a major character behind a paywall like this. I've played well over 60 or so Gacha in the past 10 years, and out of all of those I've never seen a company lock a new canon look behind something like this.
Every time a character gets a new appearance from a power-up or something similar they ALWAYS do one of two things. They either put it as a new unit that you summon for, or they make it a farmable skin. DO NOT get me wrong I was never expecting this to be a free skin, NEVER, but I was kind of expecting Marian to be a new unit you could summon for.
I've never seen a company lock a major character's new look behind a paywall because they know how scummy it would be. Imagine if HSR made DH:IL a PAYWALLED SKIN instead of a new separate unit, That would be scummy right? THAT'S WHY THEY DIDN'T DO IT! I could name way more than this, but I feel like HSR is the biggest gacha rn, so it's a good example. It's greedy and honestly is the reason I'm skipping Marian's skin. I'm not skipping it for myself, but for the people that don't want to spend that much on the game, or can't spend that much because of circumstances. Some people now can't get the new canonical story look for their girl because of this decision and will be stuck with an old appearance that is outdated, and they'll never be able to get the new story appearance because of this. :/
When I first saw the crown skin in the story it pissed me off even more because I thought it would also be a permanent skin that'll be used in future stories from now on, but with the hard mode ending, I was thankfully proven wrong. Still that skin makes ZERO sense. The Naked King doesn't even use a lance to attack, so why even make it a skin? It makes no sense from a lore or story perspective, and I feel like this is another case of greed. They made a character with no clothes and knew that people were down bad enough to go crazy for it and spend like there was no tomorrow. It would have made WAY more sense to make this a separate unit since she doesn't even use a weapon as the naked king. :/
Gripes with Marian's skin

• In my decade of playing MANY other Gacha I've never seen a company make a major character's new Canonical story appearance locked behind a paywall, and it's infuriating how I don't see anyone talking about it. It screws over some people, Gatekeeping them from getting the new Canonical appearance.

Gripes with the new Crown skin

• It Makes no sense from a Lore perspective. Why put this as a skin over the crown that uses a lance when the naked king just uses her hands to kill? It screams greed and I don't want to support that. It would have made much more sense to be an alternate unit

These are the reasons I'm upset and honestly why I'm hoping this will never happen again. (I don't like skipping such good skins XD)

I'm trying to say that the skins that have recently been released are pretty scummy and I feel the game could go in a bad direction this way. Let me explain why I think this.
I was originally going to get both the Marian skin and the crown skin until I learned some stuff about the Marian skin which is the one I have the bigger problem with. Why release a new permanent canonical look for the story as a gacha skin!?
I've played Gacha games since I was around twelve, and I'm 22 years old now in College and I've never seen something like this. I've never seen a company lock a new canonical look for a major character behind a paywall like this. I've played well over 60 or so Gacha in the past 10 years, and out of all of those I've never seen a company lock a new canon look behind something like this.
Every time a character gets a new appearance from a power-up or something similar they ALWAYS do one of two things. They either put it as a new unit that you summon for, or they make it a farmable skin. DO NOT get me wrong I was never expecting this to be a free skin, NEVER, but I was kind of expecting Marian to be a new unit you could summon for.
I've never seen a company lock a major character's new look behind a paywall because they know how scummy it would be. Imagine if HSR made DH:IL a PAYWALLED SKIN instead of a new separate unit, That would be scummy right? THAT'S WHY THEY DIDN'T DO IT! I could name way more than this, but I feel like HSR is the biggest gacha rn, so it's a good example. It's greedy and honestly is the reason I'm skipping Marian's skin. I'm not skipping it for myself, but for the people that don't want to spend that much on the game, or can't spend that much because of circumstances. Some people now can't get the new canonical story look for their girl because of this decision and will be stuck with an old appearance that is outdated, and they'll never be able to get the new story appearance because of this. :/
When I first saw the crown skin in the story it pissed me off even more because I thought it would also be a permanent skin that'll be used in future stories from now on, but with the hard mode ending, I was thankfully proven wrong. Still that skin makes ZERO sense. The Naked King doesn't even use a lance to attack, so why even make it a skin? It makes no sense from a lore or story perspective, and I feel like this is another case of greed. They made a character with no clothes and knew that people were down bad enough to go crazy for it and spend like there was no tomorrow. It would have made WAY more sense to make this a separate unit since she doesn't even use a weapon as the naked king. :/
Gripes with Marian's skin

• In my decade of playing MANY other Gacha I've never seen a company make a major character's new Canonical story appearance locked behind a paywall, and it's infuriating how I don't see anyone talking about it. It screws over some people, Gatekeeping them from getting the new Canonical appearance.

Gripes with the new Crown skin

• It Makes no sense from a Lore perspective. Why put this as a skin over the crown that uses a lance when the naked king just uses her hands to kill? It screams greed and I don't want to support that. It would have made much more sense to be an alternate unit

These are the reasons I'm upset and honestly why I'm hoping this will never happen again. (I don't like skipping such good skins XD)
Anyway, It's like 4 am here and I gtg to sleep. I'll check the post in the morning, but again this is not to spread hate. I just wanted to see the community's opinion on these things.
