Stamp 17 mysterious transformation?
This is an in-depth knowledge article for those who own classic Levi's.
Stamp codes were typed on the back of buttons by Levi's in the early 1952s. These factory regulation codes also represented stock codes and financial reports when Levi's began using computers to manage warehouses in the past decade. 50.
Stamp 17 Denison factory in Texas, began operations in 1949 and closed in 1984.
So what's the difference between these two stamps?
  1. Left photo: With the large numeral 17, very popular on Levi's Jacket 507XX Type2 models
  2. Right photo: This small 17-digit stamp was discovered by me on the Levi's Jacket 558XX Type3 model. The mystery is that Levi's hid it in the chest pocket.
Personal research:
The conversion of Digit Number to Alphabet during the 1962s covered all Levi's factories and some authorized factories.
All products in the 60's would be stamped with the letter code F,J,W,S,E,D,K,L, but the Denison factory had a small Stamp17 which made me personally surprised and curious. . There are no experts talking about it, no documents talking about this small 17 stamp at all.

2024.05.14 04:35 Bennyjay1 [TOMT][TV SHOW][1990s-2000s] kids show with a female side character named Malone who sings a song about her name

I've been smoking weed, listening to Post Malone and this popped back into my mind
I was in Grade 1 when I saw this so like late 2009 or early 2010 and I remember telling my friends about this funny song.
The show was live action, the malone character was in a costume of some kind, I can't quite remember the details.
I think the main characters of the show asked Malone about her name and she says something like "oh, malone is just a nickname" then she starts singing "My name is, binigan-banigan cinigan-canigan dinigan-danigan finigan-fanigan... zinigan-zanigan hyphen Malone"
The song went on for way too long. I don't remember for sure if they used every single letter of the alphabet or not. I think the song was sang twice in the episode and that accounted for a sizable chunk of the runtime.
This likely would have either aired on CBC or PBS, could have been Treehouse but this looked like a low budget show, something the Canadian government would've funded to get more Canadian media out to the masses. If it's not obvious, I'm from Canada if that helps narrow it down. I also think I watched it after school so around 4pm CST since I always watched the Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show at 8am before school.
Feel free to ask me questions, I may have missed something. Thanks in advance if you have any leads at all.

I ask “how: 𐤋 » Λ » д? (and when?)”, at Russian (language), someone drops the S-bomb 💣, and the post, with 68 comments (5-hours), gets locked (and removed) per reason “I’m 🧌 trolling!”
Abstract
(add)
Overview
From here (12 May A69/2024), at the Russian sub (members: 253K), wherein I was barraged with comments in a 49-min window, before going to sleep:
https://preview.redd.it/p17f2wfte90d1.jpg?width=1375&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=640b682e9dbfd16bb3b2a1f4feee3043e770eeaa
Here’s an example reply:

Talk about pent up anger? Note: I just read (7:15PM 13 May A6) this comment in my comment “mail” section. But the Russian sub mods removed it. This is some type of linguistics anger like I’ve never seen before?? All because I’m asking about the origin of the Russian letter L?
Then someone drops the S-bomb bomb 💣:
https://preview.redd.it/la0u1z9wg90d1.jpg?width=1072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d010621dc0782dc49bf647d1e1dc1a4063dea32f
And, after 68+ comments, much of which occurring after I went to sleep, the post was locked 🔐 because I was clearly trolling:

Arabic Language sub
On 11 May A69 (2024), the one day before this post, I posted the following question to the learn_arabic (members: 71.4K) sub:
  • Do I have the word إيوان (Iwan) [68] {Arabic} rendered correctly? (11 May A69/2024) - Learn Arabic.
Things went just fine, the users were nice, and I got help with the ligature problem I was having with the Arabic name for the city of Heliopolis:
https://preview.redd.it/jjobl1ifi90d1.jpg?width=1421&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a10082769b8bb77b1b70d7d90cdd62ec886e94e2

Here we see an example of mutually respectful polite Q&A.
Syriac Language sub
On 9 May A69 (2024), three days before the Russian sub post, I posted the following question, at the Syriac sub (members: 385), about the first attested usage of the Syriac E:
  • Where is is the Syriac E (ܗ) first testified? Date of first usage? - Syriac.
Things went just fine:
https://preview.redd.it/f6zps34qk90d1.jpg?width=1747&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=372aac2ebdb8af6bb2160a9e8de27b54f8bb13e7
German Language sub
On 8 May A69 (2024), four days before the Russian sub post, I posted the following to the German sub (members: 332K):
  • Need help translating some of the words, e.g. 𓆄𓅱𓀭 → 𝔔𝔢𝔟 (Qeb) or Geb [?] or -ch- ligature of 𝔖c𝔥𝔲 (Shch/Shu), in the god tables and family trees in Brugsch’s Religion und Mythologie der alten Aegypter (8 May A69/2024) - German.
Things went just fine and I found the correct letter Q and S character, the font, and the date this version of type was introduced, by a very helpful user; the post, however, was eventually removed per their rule #4 (no translation requests):
https://preview.redd.it/afbw4ti9j90d1.jpg?width=1405&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f8d9433783afa7a99eedec668d872341cc4b3c9
Discussion
That I was not defined as a “troll 🧌 poster” in the three previous language subs, should CLEARLY evidence that was not trolling the Russian language sub, but rather genuinely interested on the how and when of the following type switch:
Λ » д
And also how I could find a Russian alphabet list, in text copy-past format, in Unicode, that had a lambda L (Λ)?
Update
One of the mods of the Russian sub messaged (9:58PM 13 May A69) the following:
Hi there! We reviewed your post, and the bigger issue is that it’s not really on topic for the sub, which is about general language learning, and not specific questions about name transliteration. The history of the Cyrillic alphabet is sufficiently well summarized in the Wikipedia articles on the topic, and is further detailed in the paper by a Bulgarian linguist Ivan Georgie Iliev:
  • Iliev, Ivan. (Α66/2021). “Short History of the Cyrillic Alphabet”, Research Gate.
We hope you find the answers you are looking for. Best of luck!
Notes
  1. Above we see me use the new one word: reply (period) method, which I will now be using when someone drops red flag 🚩 terms, after which I will just shut my mind down to that user. And if they continue to post in the EAN subs, temp or full bans will result.
  2. The point of me typing this page up, was so that I could message this post to the mods of Russian, to shows I was not “trolling”.

2024.05.13 23:03 ADHDGardener Did your preschooler know how to write their name before going to preschool?

I signed up my almost 3 year old and my 4 year old to start preschool in September. We have talked about the alphabet, they know how to sing the alphabet, they can recognize A. My oldest recognizes the letters in her name, she cannot write any letter but A though. My 3 year old has no interest whatsoever in learning the alphabet, writing, or learning anything for that matter. Trying to teach her anything is like pulling teeth. But she will randomly count to 17, or tell me the colors, or sing the alphabet.
I just got the preschool packets and they said that for both the 3 year old and 4 year old class they should recognize and know the alphabet and be able to write their names. Is that normal?? Am I just being a negligent mom? Should I have been pressing harder for them to learn?? I didn’t know how to read until late and failed first grade and it wasn’t because my mom didn’t try. It just didn’t click for me until the summer after first grade. I’m just worried I’m failing my kids. Any advice is appreciated!

2024.05.13 21:19 scotch1701 Don't know how I missed it last time, Vault 88

For those of you lucky enough NOT to know, reference to the number 88 is often tinged in real life with some ugly sentiments. The letter H is the 8th letter of the alphabet, and 88 is often seen on tattoos or in usernames as a reference to (Heil (asshole)). It has passed from "a number" to being, at times, "a code or reference that an in-crowd will recognize." The number 420 has also achieved such status.
When I see an 88 in a username, my first thought is no longer "born in 1988" but rather "person that I don't want in my group." Nevertheless, I think that the creators of this content were not N sympathizers, but rather that they put real life references into the game, veiled as always, and subject to interpretation. When I saw "Vault 88" I groaned. As I entered, I saw some things that made me think twice about why they were included.
Let's look at some of the themes that are present in the quests in Vault 88. This is my take on these. Your opinions may vary. Perhaps this is grasping at straws, but I see quite a few references to the N.
(1) Experiments on unwilling or unknowing subjects, with the experiments being potentially lethal, as you tuned the bicycle, the soda machine, or the eye machine, to be stronger or weaker. This could easily be a reference to the experiments that the N did on certain residents of their "camps." (2) Dialogue with Valery Barstow Repeated reference to experiments for "The greater good." H made reference to "the greater good" in his speeches. Doctors shouldn't put their patient's welfare first. Instead, their sole focus should be the collective good. So if they must squander their time, let us turn it to the collective good: with chemistry. Maintaining Clem's trust isn't the focus of these experiments. Our collective welfare is. (3) The vault was supposed to have a very "specific set" of residents. A reference to concentration camps, and who the Ns put in there. (4) References to "Dr. Braun," the head of the old vault's experiments, a rather German name. A reference to Stanislaus Braun from Fallout 3, who was a pre-war German. But you can assure Doctor Braun, if he's even still around, that I have used the time productively. Doctor Braun tasked me with something vital. A series of prototypes and their related... well, experiments, that could redefine society. Doctor Braun is the head of the Societal Preservation Plan. A brilliant scientist and administrator Following in the footsteps of Doctor Braun and the others, I have spent my time devising my very own prototype. (5) The resident "Clem" has a name that, colloquially (in British English), can mean "to cause to suffer from hunger, thirst, or cold" The N often did this to their subjects in their camps. (6) When the experiments are over, if you don't do the dangerous experiments, Valery Barstow leaves the vault. Is she headed to Argentina? (7) Various references, at random. (7a). "Menace" Whether it rears its head around the coffee pot, water cooler, or soda fountain... it's a menace. (7b) But we must not dally. The work compels us. (Will the work make them free?) (7c) Another question for you. What can you tell me about your mother? (Hitler was quoted as saying that his mother was the only person that he loved)

How to quilt this top?
I posted in the question thread but didn’t get any responses so I thought I’d make a post. Please let me know if I should not do so in future.
I bought this alphabet quilt top at a creative reuse store. I have a nibling coming soon, so I was going to finish the quilt. The letters are appliqué and the stitches go all the way through the batting on the back.
So my question is: how should I go about the actual quilting when I attach the backing fabric? I thought to just follow the squares, but would that be too loose for a baby blanket? I’ve never made one, and I don’t have kids myself so I’m just lost.
Second photo shows the honey themed backing, and the yellow I will use for binding (and potentially a border?)

What is the sort order in the chocobo exchange?
Broadly, the chocobo tend to follow alphabetic order of their rank in a Z pattern (left-to-rigt on top row, then left-to-right on bottom row). But not entirely, as in the above example, the B rank comes after the C. I presume they are sorting by other stat, one that broadly correlates with rank letter. Any idea which stat? Anecdotally, the B ranks I have bought in position 2 behind a C rank have been terrible, but that could just be chance.

We have a winner for the letter "L". If you don't know that song yet, make sure to check it out.
Next up is the letter "M". The idea:
I will ask this community their favourite rap songs in alphabetical order (to make it easier, we take the first letter of the artist tho). In the end I will upload a playlist with all 26 songs on my channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1E_gKUQyRE_D5pSPq5UYiQ?sub_confirmation=1)
My picks for "M" are "Mac Lethal - Calm Down Baby" or "Masta Ace - Good Ol' Love" or "Mighty Joseph - Out The Gate"

Has anyone seen this or it’s sequels? They are compilations where each Director is assigned a single letter of the alphabet from which to choose a horror topic. Many of them are very creative. Very fun to watch. Thoughts?
My favorite is “L for libido“ where two men are forced to masturbate to increasingly fucked up sexual imagery and the guy who doesn’t finish is brutally murdered. If you have seen it, what is your favorite short?

2024.05.13 20:01 Prestigious-Wind-396 I need help with my first Conlang

I am trying to make a conlang which is called Elderin that is going to have a ancient elf language, This is what it looks like in roman character form: Hello how are you
Cevelmor Develhelvin ir
/ˈsɛvɛlmɔr ˈdɛvɛlhɛlvin ɪ
What are vowels, continents and all of the others?? The word order is in SVO Elderin has 6 diatrics: Dot above the symbol = Don't pronounce the last letter(My alphabet letters are multiple letters themselves for example Ahr, bel, cev, dorn, el) Dot above and below the symbol = Remove the pronunciation of the last 2 letters Little Capital T on the left side of the symbol = Pronounce only the first letter Little Capital T on the top of the symbol = Pronounce only middle letter Little Capital T on the bottom of the symbol = Only Pronounce last letter.
I have these diatrics because the sounds would be very very restricted if i were just stuck to the ones i have put in place because they are multiple characters like hebrew(alef) so the diatrics add to the amount of sounds and variations you can have
