2024.05.15 00:12 JJFAmerica My Akoustyx R-100 impressions
| TLDR Akoustyx R-100 is the top quality DF tuned IEMs made in the USA with super detailed sound, neutral tonality, low impedance, and high sensitivity easily driven by phone, for only $55. https://akoustyx.com/products/r100 https://preview.redd.it/8so5q715ug0d1.png?width=2610&format=png&auto=webp&s=f036389c64f50c656f5793987fc5b846726498ec So here is a story, the last couple of months I have to travel around a lot due to my business needs, hence I can't enjoy my home music studio anymore. Well technically my ER4SR (my reference IEMs as I strictly prefer neutral, uncolored sound), could be useful with my cell phone, yet their high impedance / low sensitivity (45 ohms / 98 dB) prevent me from enjoying the music as loudly as I prefer, and I don't like the hassle associated with dongle dac/amp. Looking around many IEMs at https://squig.link I was pleasantly surprised by the Akoustyx R-120 graph, which is very close to the neutral DF signature, and after further research, I found out about the R-100 with 22 ohms / 115 db, I ordered them immediately 10 days ago, and guess what... They are basically ER4SR in terms of neutrality, transparency, details, tonality, etc, no wonder as R-100 uses Knowles BA, and ER4SR uses Knolews too. How do they sound, well, bass is going deep to the low end with all the details, mids are just perfect, vocals sounding so live, and real, highs are precisely correct, instruments separation is laser sharp. I think BA tech is very close to the electrostatic quality of sound, even better than planars, all notes are sharp, transients are amazing. In the package there is a case, and a lot of ear tips, including foams, I use Dual Flange ones as they go deeper, almost like in ER4SR. The cable is soft and flexibale, I hear no microphonics at all. For the current price of $55 R-100 is a pure steal I think, honestly for the such high quality build (Akoustyx are made in the USA) and for the astonishingly clean, detailed, and neutral sound, I would easily pay $200 for them, plus they offer Worldwide Free Shipping right now (I'm in NYC btw so I was not concerned about that much). Now I'm set for life, no matter where I'm I can enjoy the highest quality sound, thanks to Akoustyx, I hope someone will find my R-100 impressions helpful, and indeed I certainly recommended those amazing IEMs to all my friends, and colleagues. submitted by JJFAmerica to headphones [link] [comments] |
2024.05.14 23:58 DonkeyZong Same Noob different question
Hey Guys, first time soft ball manager with a completely beginner men’s slow pitch team. Have a simple yet quick question that I think I know the answer, just wanted to double check.
Scenario; Batter up no one on base. Batter hits a nice line drive that bounces to the outfield. Runner rounds to second. Since it is an unforced run does he need to be “tagged out”. Or does he need to just make the catch with a foot on 2nd base for what I think people call “caught out” before the runner gets touches second. I assume it’s tagged because the runner is able to retreat to first since there is no one behind him and he is considered “unforced”.
Correct my terminology if I’m wrong please.
Thanks

2024.05.14 23:15 MountainPerformer210 Admin threatened us with end of year comments if we don’t enforce hoods
Can someone please explain to me why admin cares so much about hoods? It’s been an ongoing battle and it just feels like as teachers we’ve taken all measures and kids especially a select few are still wearing them. Our grade level lead told us she was yelled at by admin because as a grade we aren’t enforcing hoods and they said they would “leave comments,” on our reviews. Some teachers vocally spoke up and said that was stupid. I said correcting hoods takes away from instructional time. And quite frankly they’ll write what they want anyways I don’t care if it’s hoods. It makes them look stupid.
It also just felt a huge attack against all teachers. We have been following the referral system and it’s not working. Admin needs to do more intensive uniform checks and do ISS for the select few if they really want to make this their battle. Also good luck explaining to parents why hoods merit an ISS.

THE OBLIGATORY "IS THIS A SCAM?" QUESTION: Considering the fact that you found my contact information online, it’s understandable to be skeptical regarding the legitimacy of my services. Therefore, I’m willing to do all of the following to help you feel more secure in trusting me with your academic needs:
- 1) Speak with you on the phone and answer any questions you may have so that you have the opportunity to assess and analyze my tone, articulation, accent, diction, dialect, regionalisms, pitch, vocabulary, word choice, intonations, and inflections.
- NOTE: I’m a New Jersey-born Irish/Italian-American, but I have been told that I speak in an erudite & articulate suburban American accent with a “professor style” voice somewhat resembling the voice of actor: Ben Stein.
- 2) Agree to do some homework questions of yours upfront with the work fully shown in real-time to prove my mastery of the course content.
- 3) Send you screenshots of at least five past scores I attained from completing exams & homework assignments for other students in the same type of class you need help with.
- 4) Send you full screenshots of written exam solutions I wrote up by hand for students in the past in the same course that you need help with so that you can see my neat handwriting.
- 5) Provide you with the contact information of students who have utilized my services in the past who would be more than willing to vouch for my skills.
MY REBUTTAL TO THE OBLIGATORY “IS THIS A SCAM?” QUESTION: At the risk of sounding arrogant, I consider myself to be at least marginally more intelligent (both academically & socially) than the average person. Therefore, if I ever decided to suddenly risk prison time, risk my reputation, and risk enduring the wrath of modern-day “cancel culture” by scamming people out of their money:
- I certainly wouldn’t do it for such paltry amounts of money. (i.e., anything less than $1,000 per victim.)
- I certainly wouldn’t choose high school & college students as my “target audience” to scam, considering that most people without college degrees have abysmally low annual incomes. Why choose low-income victims when it would be much more profitable to target high-income, high-net-worth individuals earning at least six figures a year? I have knowledge in business consulting, and I promise you that a business owner would be a MUCH more lucrative mark than a low-income college student.
- I wouldn’t choose such a time & energy-draining method of scamming people. Also, communicating back and forth with potential clients is an absurdly long time sink since only less than 10% of all potential clients who reach out to me actually become paying clients of mine. This means that 90% of my time communicating with potential clients ultimately proves to be a colossal waste of my irretrievable time & energy.
- If you pay me to provide academic services and I don’t deliver, you can always dispute the payment with the payment app and easily get your money refunded. If I were in the habit of swindling money from people, then all of my payment accounts would have been investigated and be completely shut down by now. And I would have been permanently banned from opening new accounts. Therefore, the fact that all my payment apps have been fully active for years should be sufficient proof that I haven’t had people consistently disputing payments sent to me.

- These “text-only” / “email-only” tutors are usually located outside the U.S. and are afraid their foreign accent will expose their true nationality.
I WRITE LIKE A PROFESSIONAL: - Approximately 98% of the time, I write all my texts & emails in grammatically correct U.S. English with proper punctuation and occasional typo.
- Unlike some alleged “U.S.-based tutors,” I do NOT write using broken English or grammatically incorrect texting shorthand (example: "wut u need help wit??").
- I write my ad in proper American English, the same way I always text and email people.
- I can guide students on formatting & writing term papers, essays, and discussion posts in APA MLA Chicago Harvard format.
- If the tutor you’re checking out consistently writes using egregiously horrendous grammar, do you honestly think it’s a good idea to trust them to help you do well in your class?

2024.05.14 22:01 sun4moon My 18 year old is suddenly very entitled.
As many people in North America did on Sunday, we celebrated Mother’s Day. We stayed in, my husband, daughter and stepson, and watched movies and had snacks. The day was pretty relaxed and comfortable. Syepson had to go back to his moms for supper, my husband took him late afternoon. Then my husband and I made a big family dinner and his parents and our oldest son and his girlfriend came to enjoy with us. Mother’s Day has always been a strange day for me. I’ve always said all I want is to have a chill day with my family and enjoy each others company. There has not been one single year that has happened. In the past, my oldest son was usually bent on ruining the day for me some how. He would do things like sleep all day, say he forgot or just not even acknowledge the event. It was really hurtful and my oldest daughter, now 18, used to hey so upset with him when he behaved this way.
So this year, I was hoping for a miracle. As I said, the day went well and the evening was set up to be really good too. Everyone was chatting and supper turned out amazing, no bickering or snippy remarks between my in laws, the kids all seemed to want to be around, it was kinda perfect.
Now, in our house we’ve always had the rule that if you didn’t cook you help clean up. Fairly standard practice from what I can’t tell, compared to other families we know. It’s never even been a question, just get to it and many hands make light work.
Apparently all the kids just forgot that was a thing. Everyone left, just walked by my husband who stepped up to do the washing and didn’t give it a second thought. I followed the kids out to the front street and did an exaggerated shrug, got their attention and told them I was disappointed they were just leaving everything for us. This was no small dinner, it took several days of prep to brine and smoke the delicious turkey we served. Even after chasing them out to object, they both just drove away. Since I had already confronted them together I decided to discuss my issue with each of them separately. Since my son is out in his own now, I wasn’t as hard on him.
But here’s the thing, my daughter lives here full time and does nothing at all to help anymore. She was often at work in the evenings or with her boyfriend, until just recently when she stared a 9-5, so she didn’t have supper at home often. Because of her schedule, I would bring her dinner every night she works, making sure she had at least one decent meal a day. I didn’t expect her to come home at 9 pm and clean up, only to help out when she’s home. Now she’s home for supper most nights but still doesn’t lift a finger without being asked. And the attitude when she does have to pitch in is atrocious.
Now back to Mother’s Day, when I confronted my daughter I told her I was disappointed in the both of them. I told her her behaviour has been selfish and that I need her to start participating around the house. She refused to come home to talk that night. Monday she texted me to tell me she was coming over after work. That put me off further, you don’t come over to your own house. Her language made me feel like she doesn’t appreciate the free and supportive roof over her head. When we talked Monday evening my disappointment turned into anger and hurt. This kid had the audacity to say that having to help with dishes is me treating her like staff.
I am beside myself in the massive failure I feel about that. She grew up in a divided family situation but has two sets of parents to lean on and grow from. Her stepmother is a control freak and as a result, my daughter didn’t have chores over there. I knew that but made my expectation clear about our home, from the start. I just feel so helpless in this situation. If anyone has any advice or reminiscence of their own teenzilla, I’d love to hear it.

2024.05.14 21:57 HannahBeeArt I know what my leaving gift is oops
I'm leaving my job next week and I accidentally found out that everyones pitched in to get me something I've been wanting for a while
Basically, I accidentally got added to my own leaving group before being hastily removed, two of my colleagues were there when it happened and made a joke saying "pretend you didn't see that" even though we know I saw everything (On accident!! I hate ruining surprises!)
Now the question is how do I react when I get the gift?
A. Act genuinely surprised as if I had no idea.and hope my colleagues play along
B. Make a joke "oh look it's the gift I definitely didn't know I was getting"!
I'm edging towards 2, we're a lighthearted bunch and I think everyone will laugh along with it tbh 😂 but I don't know what's socially correct, neorodivergent unfortunately and overthink these things 😂🙏

2024.05.14 21:38 II_LARA_II I have 4 month to get a passing voice. Plz help
Hi <3
Im currently overseas and have 4 month left to have a passing voice, before I need to go home. Also from September on I want to finally life fully as Female only. Official Name change is also incoming :))
I just can't do this boy mode shit any more, which I have to do even now and when I can't get my voice passing by mid Sept '24.
So I have a big motivation, but are absolut untalented in voice training. Other girls watch YouTube tutorials and that works for them. For me not..
I need exercise which which I can repead until I made it, than move on to the next sound.
Is there a video where there not talking a half an hour about vocal length, pitch, resonance and so on. BUT actually have the focus on practising and progress?
I've already lost 2 month due to a sore in my throat... Stl not great.. :!
- are there actually practise videos on Youtube?
- what app do u use where it's more visible than just the pitch (if this is nessesary)
- any helpful tipps are very welcome.
THANK YOU <3
SHORT: I basically need a Crashcourse with focus on exercise for dummy's. 4 month time to pass.

2024.05.14 20:21 olliegw TIFU by managing to lose the lost episode of a radio comedy because of a USB cable
Happened back on sunday, a few days before a friend asked me to record a radio show for him, a three hour show dedicated to Tony Hancocks 100th birthday (who you might know for The Radio Ham) on Radio 4Extra.
Sure, as a radio ham myself i have access to lots of toys for recording radio activity, since this show was on 4Extra, and 4Extra was only broadcast on DAB i decided to use my SDR, just a black box that lets you receive radio on your computer.
It's worth noting here that my SDR has problems, mainly due to the USB cable, which today i learned was actually rusting, the subtlest bump would cause it to disconnect, and the SDR software doesn't handle surprise disconnects very well, forces you to restart, the other problem is the data rate sometimes slows to a crawl, the computer still talks to the SDR but the data from the aerial starts coming across in short bursts like every 10 seconds.
I did consider the possibility of this happening during the show but i thought it was minimal because the computer wasn't going to be disturbed, i get everything up and running on the day, the SDR tuned to the correct DAB multiplex, piped into a DAB demodulator whose output is being recorded by audacity.
All good, i turn up the sound on my headphones and walk away.
An hour or two later i decide to check on it, as i walk into the room i don't hear any sound but i don't register this, when i saw the screen my heart sank.
There was no sound, the spectrum scope was stopped and the waterfall (a visual representation of radio waves like an audio spectrogram) was smeared into vertical lines, a DAB multiplex should appear as a block of static.
It turned out about an hour in the SDR decided it would do the problem described earlier, the data output from the SDR had slown way down so the DAB demodulator wasn't getting any meaningful information anymore, i quickly restarted it and let it record the rest of the show.
A few hours later i stopped it and sent the recording, next day the conversation went like this
"Did you listen to the recording?"
"Yes"
"How far are you in? you might not be happy by an hour in"
"Yea i wasn't happy by an hour in, i was wondering where tony hancock went and it turned out i was listening to a totally different show"
I explained the problem and how the sound activated recording in audacity cut the recording so perfectly you could barely realize you suddenly skipped ahead like an hour, if you listened carefully you could hear the demodulator trying to decode some meaningful audio in the form of a digital screech.
In the end we laughed it off because i managed to lose the lost episode, i ended up buying a new USB cable for my SDR that came today and i clipped two ferrites to it just in case it was an interferance problem aswell, hopefully that fixes it, i found out the old USB cable had actually gone rusty when i swapped it out.
TL;DR: A crappy rusty USB cable caused me to fail in my duties as a radio ham to record a radio show for a friend.

2024.05.14 19:08 HurQlez Amateur thought: What can Animation do to be worth an Exec's time and money?
**This is something that has been shaking in my head that I wanted to bring up this discussion. I have no experience in this field so I am not using this as a declaration. Anyone who is in the know that needs to correct me of my reasons, please do.**
I have seen a lot of animated shows being cancelled, even if the show gets good viewership and reviews. I have seen animated movies that either don't get picked up or get released with no marketing or worse, made "generic". While live action production can have similar problems of mismanagement or getting original content or marketing, it seems animation gets it worse.
I tired to look at it from the perspective of the Studio. Let's see if these are accurate:
- THEY SEE NO GUARANTEE OF PROFIT WITH ORIGINAL CONTENT
This one is the easiest to see from the studio perspective. We all wish studios give us more original content and not cancel the ones that make it. But to the studio's POV, original content is not profitable. It is common for us to veer more towards stuff we have seen, existing IP, than to something we have never seen before. Even when we do make the original content popular, it takes a while for us to come around to it. So instead of waiting for original content to get its audience, they don't advertise it as much, or don't even bother producing it in the first place - Unless it has a well-known actor voicing or even producing it.
- THEY OVERLOOK THE REAL STAR OF THE ANIMATION
In live action, an actor can act their way into a good performance and generate popularity/revenue. With that, the studio would almost always demand a live-action actor to be the star of an animation to generate the same results. But the studio never realize that while a live-action actor can VOICE a good performance, the animators are what gives the actor that good VISUAL performance. This has been a constant fight with studios and their salary. Because they are not roles the studio can show off like a director or the actor, and that there can be many animators, the studio thinks anybody can animate.
- THE TIME SPAN OF THE ANIMATION PROCESS IS MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN
While a live-action shooting can take around 3-4 months, animating can take much longer; even longer than that if it is a movie. Even if the animation is 3D, drawing frame by frame can be time consuming. Sure a TV eam can do more than one episode at a time, but that is still a long time for the studio to wait. And if the studio has notes, a whole scene would have to be drawn again. The amount of FPS to maintain a quality animation can vary, but even if they hire a lot of animators to meet a deadline, they won't pay them that much and expect them to work longer hours a day. No wonder the studios focus on deadline than quality that they let people overseas animate without standards, or use AI to do the animation instead.
So what are ways animation can be worth it to the studios? Much of it involves social media. And most of it takes place BEFORE the animation phase. Here are my solutions:
- USE SOCIAL MEDIA FOR WORLDBUILDING
No matter if it is original content or existing IP, the creative team needs to prove to the studios that the people want to watch what they create. So why not use social media like youtube or even TikTok to share bits and pieces of the project even before the storyboard phase. They can show off the pitch video, the scenery, the people, and if possible, animate stills of characters interacting and using the voice actors to voice them. It would show off their personality, their interactions, and get the people interested in the project. Even sell merch to show the studio that people will buy it. Depending on how much the team can reveal, it at least gets people talking about something they want to see more of. And the studio will listen.
- GET ANIMATORS TO BE AS WELL KNOWN AS THE DIRECTOR AND VOICE ACTORS
We know directors and voice actors, but very few know animators. This one can be tricky, since the Director is usually the one who does the first animation and style, and voice actors have time to voice different projects. But promoting the animators would give them fans. And that would mean they are in high demand and be paid better. So to get them more respected by the studio, they would have to present themselves. Show off their abilities. See how their personalities are shown in the animation they work on. And in return, get more attention in animation projects.
This one is the most obvious and the most important one of all. Being in the union makes the statement about how an animator should be treated and paid. Even if the standards the union demands only raise the bar a tiny bit, it is still an important step. Even if the studio uses overseas animators, the union is there for anyone to hire and make a quality animation that can get the best results.
**Like I said, all random thoughts.**

2024.05.14 19:05 MattDarkPro Rekordbox 7 Intelligent playlist, what are the thoughts?
TLDR
Tried to play with the new "Cue Analysis" feature, does not seem to work for me. How has this new feature worked for you?
Small background
I started DJ'ing a month ago and have gotten used to setting up hot cues and working with them. I'd say I'm pretty confident in how rekordbox works at it's core.
Now, being an AI student, I was curious to see how well the "Cue Analysis" feature works in Rekordbox 7.
I bought Core to try it out, chucked all of my songs into the "CUE analysis playlist", boom done!
How it's been going for me
-- quoted from a conversation with someone --
So it's doing something weird, it's seemingly recognized my "A" cue point correctly, the start of the beat.
But every other cue is either in the wrong place or not something I would set ever
For reference, my normal cues:
https://imgur.com/a/eEhLEQv A > Beat start / song start
E > Vocal start
B > 64 before first drop
F > 32 before first drop
C > 16 before first drop
G > drop
D > 32 before second drop
H > second drop
This is what the intelligent hot cue decided for me
https://imgur.com/a/Pz4uZ8k A > Beat start
E > End of drop?
B > 16 before first drop
F > 16 before second drop
C > First drop
G > Second drop
D > After a pause in the song?
H > Also a random pause, but at the end?
What I've tried to 'fix' this
- Tried a smaller analysis playlist size (reduced it to 10 instead of 180)
- Made sure that in that smaller sample size, the hot cues were exactly right
- Tried a different song Exact same result
Question:
So, what I'm wondering is as follows: "How has this feature been working for others?"
Maybe it's just how my cues are set up, or the genre of music I play (Drum and Bass)?

2024.05.14 19:00 vedroognya Stem separation: a key but impossible feature. Or possible? I think I have an idea.
UDIO users ask for stem separation feature all the time. This is a really important feature that would be extremely useful. But is it possible to implement it as everyone imagines it inside UDIO? Probably not.
Considering the specific nature of neural networks and AI music generation, it is simply not technically possible for UDIO to split a finished composition into separate stems. I can't know exactly how the UDIO algorithm works, but most likely the composition is generated from a cluster of noise, which with each iteration acquires the shape (sound) that was specified by the prompt. Therefore, you can split the composition into stems only after it is completely done, using additional software like Demucs, Splitter, Lalai.
The disadvantage of this method is that the stem separation algorithms are still not working perfectly, so each stem after separation includes some amount of artifacts. Keeping in mind that the AI generated tracks themselves contain some artifacts, after stem separation these artifacts sometimes become so numerous that the stems can become unusable.
After thinking about this problem, I came up with the idea that perhaps we should go the other way around. I will not describe the technical aspects, but will try to present only the basic idea.
The key requirement for the realization of this idea is itself an important feature that has been long awaited. It is the option to generate purely solo tracks. Imagine, you press the button "solo stem generation" and write the prompt "acoustic guitar, flamenco, Spanish theme" and then you get a guitar solo track. This option in itself is already extremely powerful, people will be absolutely delighted as everyone will be able to enrich their own compositions without having to generate a whole song in UDIO. This option will be even more effective when UDIO will be able to generate audio with specified tempo and tonality, and based on custom midi. These features have already been mentioned many times, so I won't focus on them.
Obviously, to be able to generate solo tracks with high quality you need a training date, but there should be no problem with that. For this time tens of thousands of sample packs with all kinds of individual instruments have been created and recorded in perfect quality. Most of these samples are perfectly categorized by tempo, tonality and genre. And if that's not enough, think of the thousands of albums and recordings of concerts and live performances of any solo instrument.
So we have the ability to generate a solo track, we've got our flamenco guitar. Now the main power of UDIO comes into play: it keeps the context.
UDIO understands prompts and is able to evolve, change, and remix an already finished composition based on what has already been generated by the user's request. The same logic can now be applied to our guitar solo track.
I'm asking UDIO to generate a few more solo tracks ("funky bass guitar", "Motown drum section" and "female vocals, sustained notes"), keeping in mind the context of our already generated guitar. Because of that, these tracks will probably be in the same pitch, tempo and overall feel as the first track, since it is the source of the context.
With this feature, users will be able to generate entire songs as separate tracks. If you want, you can generate an entire orchestra or Gregorian chorus in separate stems, which you can then edit and mix as you like. The creative possibilities of this feature are endless.
Most likely, this feature will have to be monetized, as it will multiply the number of generations and the load on the UDIO's servers. But I'm sure there will be plenty of people willing to pay for this feature.
I hope I've made my point. I may have been a bit optimistic, since I mostly just used my intuitive understanding of how the UDIO works, but at least I tried.

2024.05.14 18:20 a_talkingdog [TotK] Colgera Boss Theme Analysis
Hey guys,
Recently I watched a youtube video of a music composer analyzing Colgera's Boss Theme and while very fun, I thought it went a little too technical for me. The more I listen to it, the more I´m convinced Colgera's theme is my favourite theme in the whole series. It excels at setting the tone for the fight by way of
telling a story.
Full disclaimer : I´m not a major in anything even closely related to music, can´t even distinguish similar musical instruments but bear with me, for some reason I feel like I got the 'theme' for this 'theme. Having said this, I´d love to hear the opinions/corrections of any music specialist on this issue.
Before we begin, please click the link provided or search for "
Colgera Boss Theme" on Youtube, should be the first video available. I´ll be providing some time-stamps as examples to explain my reasonings.
Try to visualize the song as a
Narrative, the characters are as follows:
0:00, 6:30 - This flute is
Link (little slower flute), I think Link might be also a Clarinette sometimes?
0:22, 3:57 - This other flute is
Tulin (little faster, higher pitched), I feel like this might be a wooden flute
0:33 - This Heavy Brass thing is
Colgera 0:43 - This sinthy "woh" "wah" keyboard is Ganondorf, his theme when you meet him or his phantoms actually use the exact sounds Not let me try and set the
Ambience too:
0:35 - Flight of Cellos going up and down -
Strong Wind or Tornado (actually sounds a lot like wind coming though an open window)
3:33 - PIanos going up and down - I feel like this could be
Snow. 6:51 - This whole little piece of orchestra is Tulin's Sage powers waking up, could also be the sage himself
If you have beaten this boss, I'd like you to try and visualize the whole song as your battle.
Winds blowing, Storm and Tornadoes everywhere, it´s absolute chaos out there but
you´re in the eye of the storm.
Link feels relatively fragile in relation to all this, but
stout,
somber. Tulin is there with him, his entrance evokes
hope(0:22). In front of them, the
menace of Colgera(0:33).
1:28 is there to remind of us again how dangerous this whole situation is, also just for a second there,
the influence of Ganondorf(1:34) can be heard. Notice how despete all this, Link never loses his cool, Tulin always comes right after him with his heroic and hopeful tune in this first part.
The song changes a little bit to be a little faster paced and erratic(3:44), it´s like Colgera is angriemore dangerous. Here Tulin changes his tune(3:57), he comes forward a little more, he gets faster, zipping around the battle field, as it were, almost playful. Now Link is the one following after him (4:04), he´s faster too, following him through his wind powers.
From 4:43 the song goes down a bit. It´s almost as if
Colegera has the upper hand. Notice how the tone from 4:53 lacks all the heroic/hopeful elements we had till so far, even Link sounds a little hopeless (4:59), but again Tulin, very gradually (5:04) starts to pump himself up until
going back to being fully heroic and playful (5:37).
And then 6:51 happens.
This is where Tulin's sage power fully awakens, the climax of the battle. After his awakening, we can hear Ganondorf does a whole lot more to try and influence this fight but obviously Link and Tulin prevail. As this is a videogame song, there is not a clear time-stamp to the end of the fight, sadly. Lastly please let me gush on 6:51. This is also the part where if for some reason if you had any doubs about killing this cunt, now you don't. This orchestra makes me want to snort cocaine, eat glass and kill Colgera's babies. When I heard this part, I forgot all about Zelda for a short moment. 20 years of history came to me all at the sudden... I remembered all the way back to Medli, Valoo, Revali, that little crying baby kid with the Din´s Pearl... This song made me want to avenge all of them. Well that´s it guys, thank you for reading it so far if you did, I hope this whole thing made sense to you.
I´d love to hear your opinions and corrections on this if you have!

2024.05.14 18:14 VanillaIce315 Richard Rogers, lead singer and last original member of Secreta, has parted ways with the band.
It was amicably and his choice. This is a real shame in my opinion. Secrets has always been criminally underrated in the metalcore scene, from the very beginning. Every album has been extremely good to great, even with several lineup changes and 3 different unclean vocalists. And there was always that beautiful consistency that was Richard Rogers clean vocals and lyrics.
Their last album, the Collapse (2022), was their heaviest and best to date so far: both musically and lyrically. It’s one of my favorites ever, all time, in this genre. It seemed like Richard and Wade Walters, the 3rd screamer for Secrets, had really hit their stride together after 9 years and 3 albums together.
I don’t know where Secrets goes from here long term, but I do know it won’t ever be the same losing Richard. They already released one single without him, and the lack of his perfectly pitched voice was noticeable in a bad way.
Edit: Despair was not bad at all! I just think no one can replace Richard and still think of it as being Secrets. He was perfect for their whole career

2024.05.14 17:53 MochaBlack Power/Death update
Well I listened to all your suggestions. Y’all are the tits!
Keep of Kalessin - Reclaim: not power but real good. Sounds like the vocalist from Heilung or Korpiklaani
Bal-Sagoth - Starfire Burning… - really interesting. Never heard anything like it. I think it’s good? Maybe really good?
Manticora - Mycelium: good mix of both. Vocals aren’t highest caliber but the band is good. Solid album. I’m tasting notes of Nevermore?
Storm Haven - Blood of the Queen: quite the range on all vocals. I thought only Swano was able to sing in ALL styles. It’s pirate-y like Winderun’s Olden Tales & Deathly Trails. Very promising, would love to hear a full length album
Dark Empire - From Refuge to Ruin: hate the clean vocals. Couldn’t make it past the first track. Sorry.
Ensiferum - Ensiferum: not hearing any power but maybe that comes on later albums. Very folky, which I love. Forest metal. Were these guys in bands before this? Seems too tight to be everyone’s first go. And I’m tasting hints of Heavenly? And maybe some Reinkaos?
Imperial Circus Dead Decadence - Imperial Circus Dead Decadence: can’t stand the filtered vocals but the harsh are excellent. Great power, great guitars. Great Chino-esque scream also.
Midnight Sorcery ? A band? The Mexican record label?
Norther - Dreams of Endless War: off to an excellent start! Drums are mixed CORRECTLY. AWFUL album cover, GREAT band. This is exactly what I was looking for!
Nekrogoblikon - Goblin Island: Nope. Can’t do it. I can tell the band is great but not the vocals I’m looking for. At all. Did a second listen and got a little further.
Kalmah- Swamp Song: cool vibes and pretty good songs. Transitions are a little sloppy and the drums confuse me sometimes. Vocals are ok.
Wintersun - Wintersun: Love it. Love it. Just what I wanted. Really talented band. Excellent album.
In Flames - Whoracle: haven’t listened to this in a loooong time. Obviously a talented band but kinda boring? A little slow?
Children of Bodom - Something Wild/Hate Crew Deathroll: Nope. Done like them, which I thought was the case from my teen years.
Y’all are excellent for these! Of course I prefer the lower vocals (not black metal low) rather than the higher vocals but some I still like. Maybe I’m just looking for more Dethklok or Moontower.

2024.05.14 17:45 FallyWaffles Rambling about my discovery of metal
Hi! I've been on an odyssey of metal discovery for the last few months. I'm not new to all metal, I got into nu-metal as a teen (showing my age here) and I found a few bands that I fell in love with along the way (Tool, Rammstein, and Volbeat for example) but I never listened to anything older, and I found that I just didn't enjoy the sound of more modern metal bands, so I just assumed I wasn't really a metalhead.
Weirdly, what got me exploring more metal was a random YouTube recommended video by Bradley Hall, where he does what 60 famous bands sound like to those who don't like them (recommended video btw, his impressions of Pink Floyd, the Beatles, and Blink 182 had me in stitches).
But I thought, I only know a handful of these bands, and the ones I was familiar with (like Metallica) I'd never actually listened to. So I set about listening to a lot of the bands he featured in the video, and went from there, learning all about metal subgenres, waves of metal and pioneering bands, and I feel like I discovered this whole new world that was under my nose this whole time.
My favourite subgenres (and bands) so far are heavy metal (Judas Priest - how have I never listened to Judas Priest?! Absolute favourite so far) and thrash, specifically 80s thrash (Slayer are my favourite, but found some amazing Megadeth and Metallica tracks).
My best friend is into black metal, and as soon as she knew I was looking into metal she spammed me with black metal recommendations. I wouldn't say that I'm nuts about black metal but I've learned to appreciate it on a certain level. Mostly, the history and subculture of black metal are what I find fascinating, and I've watched a few documentaries (about THAT band). Then I learned about first wave black metal, and I found I prefer that. (Early) Bathory are amazing, I listened to three albums straight by them the other night. For the later stuff, I found symphonic black metal (Dimmu Borgir) and folk black metal (Moonsorrow) pretty good.
Then, I discovered doom metal, which was pretty good but then I found epic doom metal like Crypt Sermon, which is really amazing stuff. I think I've played Key of Solomon by Crypt Sermon about 30 times in the last month.
So, finding all of this amazing music, both old and modern, made me think about the mainstream metal that I always hear about and tried to get into through the 2000s and 2010s but just couldn't get on with. Bands like Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, Lamb of God, all these kinds of bands, they tend to employ certain techniques, vocal styles, riff patterns etc that don't do much for me and I'm trying to figure out if there's a commonality, like are they the same genre? Or related genres? I keep hearing the terms "metalcore" and "new wave of American heavy metal" but I don't know if either of those apply to the specific trend of sound that puts me off. At first I just thought maybe I'm an old fart that only likes old music, but a lot of the stuff I've got into like Crypt Sermon, Phantom, Traveler, Hellripper, Mastodon (and even Ghost, but let's not open the Ghost can of worms lol) are modern bands. I'm not a fan of death metal style vocals, but I've learned to like the scratchier shrieking vocals of black metal (though some are a bit too high pitched and make me think of Gollum).
Anyway, just thought I'd share my thoughts, and if any recommendations come to mind, feel free to comment them!
My four best discoveries so far? Judas Priest, Slayer, Crypt Sermon, and Bathory.

2024.05.14 17:25 CatLegitimate732 Growling on trumpet--do you have to "vocalize"?
I'm trying to finally incorporate growling as a trumpet effect in a couple songs with my band. I just can't discern from all the tutorials and TH posts--is the "correct" way to do this to simply "gargle" with the uvula? Like with no vocalization? I'm going for the kind of trad-jazz growl you hear on St James Infirmary or even Rhapsody in Blue. I've looked it up, and even Wikipedia ONLY describes a method of vocalizing strategically with the note your playing to get a polyphonic effect. Even screaming behind the horn while you play. This seems like a different effect though--and mainly meant for saxes and clarinets playing klezmer music? Any trumpeters got a more clear answer?

2024.05.14 16:57 Talos193 HX stomp as a replacement for EHX pitchfork+ ?
Hello guys !
I am on the verge of buying an EHX pitchfork+ to use as :
- polyphonic capo for -2 (Gojira), -4 (or -5 ?) SOAD Aerials, etc without constantly retuning my only guitar
- pitch shifter mainly as a +1 & -1 octaver and maybe +5th
- bass emulator, 12 strings emulator
- whammy
Before buying it, I wanted to find if alternatives are better, for 2 main reasons :
- There seems to be a noticeable delay on the PF+ and it seems to be very minimal on the Helix models
- The shifted pitch tone sounds kinda synthetic on PF+ and it seems to be better on the Helix and HX
That is why I am looking for answers here : Is the HX stomp powerful enough to ensure all the functions the Pitchfork+ have ?
My question is mainly about the polyphonic double pitch shifting
Did someone compare the PF+ with the pitch effects in the HX stomp ? Which are the best sounding ones in your opinion and why ?
Thank you a lot in advance <3
Edit : I have to add that I play on a Boss Katana Artist so I already have a lot of quite good effects except (and please correct me if I'm wrong) pitch shifters/octavers That's why a stomp or hx one or will mainly be used as a pitchfork emulator 😉

2024.05.14 15:41 lambchopsuey "The 'five S's' of giving a good experience"
This analysis also comes from
Cults and Nonconventional Religious Groups: A Collection of Outstanding Dissertations and Monographs, "Shakubuku: A Study of the Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist Movement in America, 1960-1975", David A. Snow, 1993, pp. 175-177 - it's a section within the analysis
here about how the SGI's "discussion meetings" were carefully planned and choreographed sales pitch performances aimed at convincing any "guests" to convert. I thought this part about the carefully structured "experiences" deserved its own post:
In addition to the general supportive role, members are provided with instructions regarding the more specific role activity. That is, they are coached as to how to give explanations of what NSA [former name of SGI-USA] is all about, to lead songs, and to give testimonies. Regarding the latter, for example, members are reminded to respond to the emcee's request for experiences with great alacrity and enthusiasm by thrusting their hands in the air in a vigorous manner and yelling out "hi."
Actually, it's "Hai!", which means "Yes/Okay/I'll do it" in Japanese.
And if called upon, they are reminded to attend to the five major points or the "five S's" of giving a good experience.
That "coaching" is done
before the live performance at the "discussion meeting", of course, not reminded
within that performance context. That would break the illusion, as you can imagine.
The first point is Shakubuku. Remember, the guests have absolutely no understanding of this practice or any NSA terminology. Always talk to the guests and not to the members. The sole purpose of an experience is to make the guests curious enough to join ... Don't use Buddhist terms and names the guests won't understand...
Point number two is story. Make sure an experience is just that - something which happened to you and which you either changed into a benefit or changed an aspect of your life-condition through chanting. Basically , an experience should be structured as
(a) I had a problem or I was satisfied [sic] with my life and
That's obviously a typo; it should be either "I was
n't satisfied with my life" or "I was
dissatisfied with my life", as confirmed by part (b):
(b) then I chanted, solved the problem or changed that aspect of my life which I wasn't satisfied with...
Make sure that you stress that chanting was the ingredient which changed those aspects of your life. Otherwise, the guests won't be able to connect just how chanting and a person's problems relate.
The third point to keep in mind is simplicity. Make each point of the story simple and to the point. Don't clutter the issue with unnecessary details. Try to be as brief as possible.
The fourth point is that of a seeking mind. What this means is that the person giving an experience should try to find out what type of experience the leader wants to have conveyed to the guests that will most benefit them.
Clearly, this is all about crafting the most persuasive sales pitch, not about honestly and authentically communicating anything
real.
We're not saying that there is a "one" type of experience that is sought, but experiences have to be geared to the guests at the meeting. A middle-aged person is definitely going to have hard time relating to the change in values of a college student... The point is, make sure you are perceptive enough to give the type of experience which the guests at the meeting can relate to best.
Keeping in mind that no one knows for certain WHO these "guests" will be - this sort of "adjustment" in the details has to be made on the fly, which demonstrates the inauthenticity of the "experience" performance. But the culties are supposed to make it
appear "authentic":
The final point is one of the most important - sincerity ... Even if your experience isn't that spectacular or full of content, the guests can relate to a person' [sic] sincere way of giving the experience...
The "5 S's" section is footnoted as coming from:
"The Five S's of Giving a Good Experience," World Tribune (September 11, 1974). Also, see the NSA Quarterly (Winter, 1975), p. 13; and the World Tribune (October 25, 1974).
It was obviously a
structured thing that was explicitly
taught (indoctrinated).
These five pointers on how to construct and give a "good" experience are mentioned repeatedly in the movement's literature and by its leaders. Furthermore, members can learn how to construct testimonies in accordance with these instructions by simply watching and listening to other members, and especially core converts, when giving their respective experiences.
You can probably surmise that after a while, these "experiences" will all start to show the same standardized structure; this will be accepted within the cult (because that's the goal), but the
guests won't realize just how structured it is - and the focus on making it as
manipulative as possible.
Indeed, rank-and-file members and new converts are often told to watch and listen to how so-and-so gives an experience.
That's true - I remember that.
It should thus come as no surprise that the testimonies given at these meetings, or wherever, are usually structured in accordance with the above pointers or instructions. And when they are not, the violators are usually pulled aside after the meeting and provided with corrective suggestions. At the end of several meetings, for example, I overheard the district chief reprimanding and re-instructing members regarding the unsuitable testimonies they had given earlier in the evening. This sanctioning and corrective work occurs not only when unsatisfactory testimonies are given but whenever meeting or movement-related roles are performed in an unsatisfactory manner and whenever members visibly engage in conduct that is inappropriate from the standpoint of NSA. During the San Diego Convention weekend, for example, I observed on several occasions members who were being brought back into line for engaging in unbecoming conduct, such as smoking grass on the bus while en route to the convention. That members who conduct themselves and perform their roles in an unsuitable and unconvincing manner are frequently pulled aside and provided with corrective guidance thus suggests a third consideration pointing to the highly orchestrated and theatrical character of discussion meetings in particular and of NSA in general.
Everyone must be "on" at all times; they must at all times display the SGI-defined
image that SGI believes will
impress the public
and be most appealing to draw in potential new members.
While these
specific "five S's" aren't around any more, there are still guidelines for how to give an "experience":
How do I write an experience for SGI budhist meeting?
State the difficulty you faced.
State how long you have been struggling with it, and how it affected you.
State what you did to resolve it, and how much you chanted.
State the resolution, and what that means to you.
Keep it to under 3.5 minutes.
Before you give your experience, read it to someone who cares about you, someone you know, and ask for an honest opinion on how your delivery is. from 7 years ago
REHEARSE it, in other words. These "experiences" are NOT
spontaneous! submitted by

One of the main proportions of socialists point of view it the cross between telepathic response and science.
While telepathy is a written and vocals mainstream idealism and science being the barrier between intelligence and discovery. Telepathy and science go hand in hand at some points of opinions. The brain is made up of abilities and ideas that wrap around a few million stimuli that are smaller than you can see and even smaller when reaching an age after realizing the realism in how the world works and talks to itself. It’s only a matter of time before you realize talking with the mind and understanding the abilities of connecting and getting the correct image in mind are scientifically proven to interact within the mind to produce an outcome known to us as our livelihood or our given written future. Advances through the mind allow a picture to be discovered through practice and mellow dramatic response. The brain makes stimuli and represents them as gardens or floral pieces in the mind. Connecting through many wave frames of other garden pieces before the realism that you are amongst millions and billions of others with the same interaction at different realisms of time.
Scientifically we are made up of roses that tie our brains into structured development used to create a future or sub reality of the time. Chemicals are only real when you want them to be. While the mind slowly wraps around the sequence of time to uprise the future possibilities turning in clockwise rotation.
Mentally we discover talking and prayer to be an arguable amount of the same idealism. While some are argumentive that they are not the same and are entirely prismed around the idea of praying is only for god or god related acts. The truth behind realizing whether or not you talk to god ends the argumentive rights that you have developed around… telepathy is the given statement that you talk with your mind and understand the ability of knowing what everyone is telling you and themselves. Being young is presumed unknowing or not realizing that everything has a multiplicative development of the time. Everything someone says is sometimes directed in a single possible answer of what the person is trying to talk towards them.
Sticky is one word that describes the mentality of the time of day and age we were born and grown up to. We are a dying age of realizing where our actions have developed and are forwarding us to fix and create a better future. Within understanding that you talk to god and everyone around you through prayer is the telepathy and science differential trait. Crossing the two methodologies is the beginning to our continued story developing in our hands.
