*Within a week
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
*Everything except a mouse
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
*US, Massachusetts. I have access to a Microcenter location (Cambridge, MA)
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
*Currently have a 144hz monitor but willing to buy another to unlock the PC’s full potential
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
*No real interest
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
*No specific features come to mind, will be mainly used for gaming
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
*Not too concerned about aesthetics and would prefer spending $ on performance
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
*I don’t think so, as I may be able to transfer my current license
Extra info or particulars: I am intending to go to Microcenter based on the reviews I have heard but am a complete noob and have never built a PC before. Mainly want to invest in a PC that will perform well for the next 5+ years in regards to gaming. Thanks for any advice.

2024.05.11 00:43 dann1551 Help me build a gaming pc for $1,000
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
- Mainly a game called Oldschool Runescape, some GTA V possibly, maybe WoW, that cyberpunk game, baldurs gate
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
- I have the monitor, mouse and keyboard. I would need everything else.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
- Michigan, USA. Microcenter 15 miles from me (Madison heights)
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
- reusing a gaming monitor, mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse. Unsure of the names
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
- Rather not overclock to increase longevity
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
- I've dealt with under 500gb of storage but I guess 1tb would be nice?
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
- Case isn't important, last build my case was absolutely huge for no reason.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
- I think windows is free before registration where I can purchase this later if necessary. I have a hard drive that has windows 11 on it that I might try to use if I absolutely need to.
Extra info or particulars: Most likely going to finance it as a means to also build my credit a little where microcenter has a 0% apr for 24 months that I could take advantage if. Not entirely necessary though but ideally would prefer microcenter.

2024.05.10 07:09 Sebastianx21 I have to be honest here, but many of the new guns just aren't fun.
I've been on game forums discussing balancing since the early days of RuneScape but what is currently happening with Warbonds in HD2 reminds me of the early years in Warframe, just keeps churning out lots of weapons monthly without making them any more distinguished from one another, but at least there, they served a purpose as EXP fodder.
The Liberator (including Penetrator and Concussive) Adjudicator, Sickle, Scythe and now the Tenderizer are virtually the same weapon (sure, energy weapons have energy but they play and feel the same).
I get variations of stats to change the feel of a weapon, but many of the weapons added don't have a huge enough variation to warrant using the weaker version over the strongest, as those tiny differences in stats is something that people can adapt to quickly if they're not used to a certain recoil/fire rate.
(And it doesn't help that all balancing done on the current weapons seems to just tighten that gap between what makes some of them different and unique)
We need more weapons that feel unique from what we currently have and not a variation of something we already have that plays ever so slightly different. Most recent weapons that accomplished that were the R-36, the Crossbow, the Grenade Pistol and the Air Burst Launcher.
But we can go wilder still.
- Instead of giving us another lighting gun that shoots a medium distance away with a slow fire rate, and might arc to 2-3 targets, why not give us a mini nuclear reactor powered lightning gun that takes a good 5 seconds to AUTO reload (means you can switch weapons and it reloads itself after each shot) but arcs to 10 enemies and does more damage.
- Or how about we get a mobile mortar launcher, with great arc, slow travel time, and a big satisfying explosion, something similar to the Juggernaut's/Heavy's Mortar Launcher in the Tribes games.
- Or maybe we leverage the fact that this game has physics impact damage and give us a harpoon gun, that yanks small enemies so hard they smash into walls and die and can hold onto big enemies and pull off armor plates/pieces after a few seconds of yanking. (remember, it doesn't have to be extremely strong to be fun)
- Or if you want another energy weapon, why not just straight up copy the Shock Rifle from Unreal Tournament? Primary fire shoots a sniper-like strong shot, secondary fire (zoom on other guns) shoots an exploding ball of energy, BUT if you shoot the ball of energy as it travels with the sniper shot, it detonates for a much bigger explosion with a big radius and higher damage.
- Or how about a good old micro-missile homing gun? Or hell a launcher, like the High Altitude Impact Launcher from the EDF games, sure it has to be weaker than most guns, but watching a swarm of missiles fly upwards and then just come crashing down carpet bombing some poor sods never gets boring.
There's so many cool weapons we could get, and here we are getting Liberator version #21, now with 10% more fire rate and -10% damage for that wholly unique feel!

2024.04.26 20:54 parthoraxx This can solve the biggest problem BSG has. Community distrust.
Now you guys all remember that super old game, runescape. When they released the old school servers I think in 2013 the game was intended to last at most a few months, for nostalgia, this happened right after their near game killer, "evolution of combat" or runescape 3 update. well now that client is running on its 12th year and is striving. They're game model is community based updates meaning there are update ideas that are brought foward to the community( not bug fixes and shit but like massive update and most QOL changes) and a poll for all community members to vote on. I believe this is the pinnacle of game models because it allows the consumer to have a say in what happens and how the game is molded. Every company should strive to be just like this. BSG for one has had multiple updates/patches and random stuff that has left their community with distrust. Supporting arguments include the most recent addition of the "unheard" edition of the game and various micro transactions. I'm not attempting to justify their mistakes but every company has them. So I believe bsg should atleast take this into consideration and 3ven have a poll for this. That's my 2 cents on the situation

2024.04.20 15:34 pwinteak Autofarm, yay or nay?
Looks like autofarm placement, like in AoE4 is coming to AoE2 DE and is available in the new PUP.
Personally I don't think I enjoy this change that much. Placing farms in a pinch has been part of the skill ceiling. Sure it robs your attention of microing something else, but it's part of the game and something we can all get better at. I don't think making the game more casual is better for die hard players. It makes it easier for new people to get into the game, maybe that's the thing?
Personally I think this sort of a change should be polled first. As an example, Old School Runescape has a great new update system, the community votes if some changes should be implemented first, and if it reaches a certain threshold it passes. This might be a good idea moving forward for certain updates. Would have to be implemented correctly to prevent burner accounts and botted votes of course.
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on autofarms and why it's a good/bad idea, maybe I'll change my mind. I want to see the game grow as much as anyone else, but not at the expense of ruining the old school feeling with handholding, that's the biggest fear.

2024.04.18 17:55 defnotcurtis A 30 year old homeowner/Homesteader/blue-collar worker with three kids thoughts/review on the game.
First off, the reason I wrote my age and details about my life and the title is because I have seen some criticism of the game as far as not respecting peoples time. I included that stuff about myself to illustrate the fact that I work about 80 hours a week, when everything is taken into account, and I am extremely limited on time I can play video games.
Thoughts on my first DD game
- I cannot recall a game I’ve played in my 25 years of gaming that nails the power fantasy’s for differing archetypes as much as this one absolutely does. The Warriors swings of the great hammer feel earth shatteringly powerful. The archer class makes you feel dexterous as well as a master marksman. The thief class makes you feel truly unhittable and as if you could assassinate someone instantly.
- While I really do appreciate the grounding that this game attempts to keep you on, for example, making oxcart the only way to fast travel. Another one is making it where you have to rest in order to fully recover health. I do sometimes wish that vocation guilds were more common. It can be pretty painful to make your way to a guild when you are in certain parts of the map and do not have ferry stones.
- I personally don’t find the micro transactions to be a big deal. I know that they are collectively a cancer on the gaming industry, however, the way they are implemented by Capcom makes it where they are not really that beneficial to make it where you are missing out if you don’t buy them. One example is the wake stones. I would hate the micro transaction system if you died and it reloaded your saved to the last inn you were at only. It seems like Capcom was very deliberate to trigger auto saves before tough encounters. For that reason, it kind of doesn’t matter if you do not have wake stones.
- I can definitely see what the reviewers were talking about when they said that the exploration is Skyrim esque. I did not really buy this at first because it felt like every few seconds you were getting into the fight with the same enemies on the main road. However, once I realized that when you go off of the main road, you encounter much tougher enemies, and I heard a review comparable er say that it is comparable to the wilderness in RuneScape (the farther away you go from the safe line, the more dangerous it gets) something clicked. I end up, turning off my mini map and just exploring the game and getting lost in it. If Skyrim exploration is a 10, this one is an 8.
- Seriously hoping that they add a transmog in a future update.
- Might be a minority opinion, but I do not like that. You have to listen to dialogue when you are finished depositing or withdrawing items from the inn keepers. Wish you could just button mash your way out of that menu.
- It would be nice if we could have eight vocation abilities at once instead of just four.
- The ability to sheath and unsheath your weapons REALLY adds to the immersion
- I thought that the moniker of the pawn was what it was going to be referred to in game. I kept the default main pawn name in place because I thought the moniker would be more utilized. I can change the pawns appearance, but not its name. I hope they add this in a future update as well.
Anyways, these are my thoughts. It’s my game of the year so far. Sorry for bad grammar, using voice to text. Will clean this up later.

2024.03.28 00:38 OpnMnded Please tell me if I should make any changes to this part list. ($2000 CAD Budget)
Hi, I put together this part list and am wondering if there are any glaring issues, or if you would change/upgrade the GPU and CPU (Say, if it was worth raising the price by $100 for much better performance/longevity, for example). I play mostly Runescape and league but want the ability to play newer titles at 1440p. My budget is around $2000CAD but I can go a bit higher. I would also like the price to include two 1440p monitors. Thank you!

Mostly playing GTA V, Fortnite, CSGO and Old School Runescape. But also some coding in VSCode.

Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
I'm not a fan of RGB Gamer lights though, I like it minimal and black. I love the Fractal North case, but that's way over budget!
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
No
Extra info or particulars:
The main reason for this is because my current build is from 2011 and it desperately needs replacing, but I'm not as much of a gamer as I used to be, so I don't need the very best set up.
I also have two 144hz (one 27inch and one 23 inch) monitors supplied to me by work, and I'm not utilizing them much. I also already have all the peripherals that I need.

2024.03.24 22:55 Voltorn_Elda An older RS3 player’s first OSRS experience – Thoughts, Feelings and Feedback?
(This is going to be a bit of a longer post, detailing my thoughts on the first 2-ish months of playing OSRS for the first time in F2P. Figured that perhaps it could be a fun read to some of the OSRS veterans here, maybe raise some questions, suggestions and show some general appreciation. Please do not take any of this as a sign of “REEEE, I want things changed!” incase I’m critical of/missing some stuff. =P) My name is Voltorn Elda. I’m a 30+ year old guy who has played Runescape ever since I was 12 years old. I’ve seen and experienced a lot of Runescape, voted yes (to my recollection) on the poll to help OSRS become a thing after the flop of ‘EoC’… but never actually took the plunge to try OSRS out. My main reason? Some variant of the ‘sunk-cost fallacy’. I’ve been a member for a very long time and have a maxed account on RS3, but never felt comfortable with the idea to start all over from the beginning.
Queue the last few months with not really anything interesting going on over on RS3 in regards to decent updates imo (except for ‘finally’ a decent Christmas event), me growing more annoyed with the overflow of micro/macro transactions, and the coincidence that my Premier membership ran out near the end of January (and thanks to there being no roadmap or anything specific to look forward to)… I figured, “Sure… With how positive people seem to be regarding OSRS, I guess I’ll use my time as a F2p’er to give it a shot. And once I do become a member again, I’ll be able to enjoy both RS3 and OSRS with a decent enough account.”
All of the following points are thus written from the viewpoint of a F2P’er, though some of the mentioned things might relate to P2P business, as I did have fun with watching people like Settled, Happery, Link and Rargh, and a few others. All of the P2P stuff still has to be experienced by me, and I do look forward to that in the future.
The adjustment period: First thing I noticed when I started playing… is that the camera felt really ‘weird’ compared to RS3? It’s honestly a bit hard to explain. The camera moves a lot slower when using the arrow keys (using wasd is not the base setting compared to RS3), and for some reason the camera seems to zoom in on the character the more horizontal it moves? It’s as if the pivot point is in a different position to RS3. The size of UI elements was tricky to deal with at first as well.
All in all… it really didn’t take long before I looked up on how to install Runelite, as I had heard good things about it. This for sure was a great choice, and to any new player I’d say it’s a brilliant recommendation. I do miss having multiple tabs open in custom positions like on RS3, so that for instance you can have both the inventory and prayer tab open at the same time… but that’s the adjustment period I guess. I do fear that later on this is going to be a problem for me, as I was only really able to prayer-switch for a fight like Jad on RS3 thanks to the ability to put prayers onto the ‘action bar’, or to have that second tab open for prayers. As a result.. I fear for my future attempts to try and obtain a firecape, and I’d rather not even think of trying to take down any of the large amount of bosses OSRS has compared to RS3.
Getting started: Getting started I took things slow. Did mostly skilling for the first few days in woodcutting, firemaking, fishing and cooking, and did some non-combat related early game quests. Getting used to the horrible low run energy restoration rate was a bit of a pain, and seeing how there is no ‘resting’ option in OSRS (or those musicians at the side of roads where you can restore run energy), walking around everywhere with only level 1 agility is.. well… slow. =P
First thing to note here in regards to the training of skills… is that the Forestry update had already been released, but that I didn’t even KNOW about it until I was 42 woodcutting, and randomly stumbled upon a group of other players south of Falador doing one of the spawned events. At this point I haven’t yet interacted with Forestry, as apparently I require the forestry kit from an NPC in Draynor… but I do feel like perhaps the existence of this new update could be made a bit clearer in-game in the early game? Especially because it’s now an integral part/side path of the woodcutting skill (even though F2P can’t really do much with it?). Requiring that forestry kit to encounter events might cause some noobs to train woodcutting without them realizing Forestry is even a thing. =P
One thing I did realize here, was the fact that I had apparently taken the fletching skill being F2P on RS3 for granted. I can’t even remember ‘when’ it finally became accessible for F2P (as in my eyes it just made sense, for it allowed F2P’ers to make melee, magic ‘and’ ranged equipment/weaponry, instead of forcing ranged in this weird spot.), but it did strike me as odd that it still remained a fully P2P skill for OSRS. Makes me wonder if one day Fletching might also become available to F2P, so that it’s brought more in line with magic and melee equipment creation (Though making your own runite equipment forcing you to have an insane smithing level… does make me appreciate the Mining and Smithing update on RS3 a lot. xD).
Onwards from there, some more questing… and I was happy to see that you guys actually have some new quests for F2P, like ‘X Marks the Spot’, which was the first one I stumbled upon. The addition of beginner clues (even though the loot kinda sucks =P) is really fun for the early game and for F2P’ers, and a good introduction to clue scrolls in general. Right now, I’m at around 450 beginner clues completed, and I’m slowly working towards the 600 mark for the emote. Good stuff!
Growing more comfortable: At this point in time, I had completed most of the quests I was used to from the good old days, having a great time reliving the past. I do SEVERELY miss having access to the ‘toolbelt’ and currency pouch from RS3 though. The quality of life which those two things offer is sorely missed by me.
Another thing I began to notice as a ‘problem’ at this point, as I was often switching between activities, was the ‘lack’ of bank presets like on RS3. Every time I wanted to use magic for combat, or go for melee… or wanted to do some cooking training, I had to take the extra time to manually look up and switch all the required gear. From one bank tab to another. OSRS clearly does not have something similar, and it seriously makes me wonder how you all deal with it in the mid and endgame. I miss being able to set up a preset for magic, ranged, melee, or for a specific skill I want to train, and with the single click of a button at a bank have both my armor and inventory ready in mere seconds. After much looking around on YouTube I did finally stumble upon the Runelite plugin called ‘Bank Tag Layouts’, which at least made it a ‘tad’ easier to find the items I was looking for, and thus ready myself for a specific activity with a bit more ease… but it still in no way does what I love from RS3’s banking presets. It makes me feel sad for those who do not use Runelite (and thus the Bank Tag Layout plugin), and surely it must be terribly time-consuming for all the PVM’ers or clue hunters in OSRS when they have to switch their entire equipment around? Doesn’t this give insane amounts of friction for the playing experience? Perhaps it makes things a bit easiequicker, but I do feel like RS3 has a MAJOR point of QoL here.
Anyway… onwards with questing! ‘Below Ice Mountain’ was next, and again I was happy and surprised to see such an addition to the F2P world. The entirety of the Ruins of Camdozaal is great, and slowly I began to work towards obtaining my own Barronite mace, as I read it had a similar strength to a rune scimi, thus making it ‘perfect’ for ironman players. I wasn’t an ironman player myself (as I know that I wouldn’t be able to handle that playstyle for the full 100%), but upon meeting with another player who happened to be a hardcore ironman (and also in search of the mace pieces at the mind golems), I realized that up until now I had already ‘mostly’ been playing as if I was an ironman myself. Just not with the fancy icon, and ‘maybe’ with once or twice selling something small on the G.E. This player was so kind and generous as to give me 2-3mil from their main to help me out in the early game, and although I didn’t rush off to spend it on better equipment, I did use that money at a later point to occasionally purchase some alchables from the G.E. That has been my ‘ironman-lite playstyle to this day. Only purchasing alchables for that small profit, while trying to do everything else completely on my own. Thanks to this, my cash stack is now green, purely from high alching. =p
Back to the Ruins of Camdozaal. Brilliant content, and I figure that the Barronite mace is very appreciated by F2P ironman players! I did feel like the vault minigame was a bit… lackluster? It’s fun, and the 1 minute time limit really feels like you’re in an insane rush… but I never felt like the rewards from it were all that worthwhile. I managed to get 40+ mining and smithing in the ruins simply from the barronite deposits, but for the time investment.. the rewards from the vault minigame really don’t seem worth it. Even if an ironman were to try and obtain some addy equipment like the addy kiteshield from here (as that would be the best shield they can get without smithing it themselves, or by getting a rune drop from Obor or Bryophyta…), it just doesn’t seem like it’s worth the time investment? You’re better off using a mithril kite shield from the ogress shamans at Corsair Cove (again.. Lovely new F2P quest!), train your melee stats on Hill giants at the Giant’s Plateau near Al Kharid, until you eventually get the rune kite from Obor (This is what I did, getting the rune kite on Obor kill 68). And all the other equipment is easier to get elsewhere. The vault just feels a bit on the weak side.
Working on the F2P Endgame: All of that leads me into the ‘endgame’ of F2P for me. My loot tracker at this point indicates that I’ve killed 7000 Hill giants for a total of 65 Giant keys (during my hunt for the Rune Kiteshield), and I just surpassed the 7000 moss giant kills for a total of 43 Mossy Keys. I haven’t been lucky in regards to obtaining the Hill Giant club yet, and I’m now searching for Bryophyta’s essense because I saw that a master clue requires the staff (and incase it wasn’t clear yet with the 450+ beginner clues… I like doing clues =p), so slowly I’ve been getting my melee, magic and prayer up thanks to all the big bones. It’s been a grind, but it’s been a fun one (even though I wish the keys weren’t so rare outside the wildy. Requiring a key to fight the boss is interesting, but also limiting… but I guess it makes sense. =P), and the journey up until now has been quite the blast. I’ll probably keep slaying more Moss Giants until I get lucky, or perhaps hunt some fallen stars to get my mining up to 60 so that I can enter the mining guild. Maybe actually try out a bit of the Forestry update, even though one can’t really do ‘too much’ with it in F2P… And then eventually… onwards to P2P I guess, with an account that can freely explore quite a bit of early and mid-game content!
Looking to the future with questions: While casually playing, and while watching some youtubers and looking on the wiki, I did stumble upon one or two things that raised questions.. just out of curiosity. Starting with the rune pouch. Obviously a very useful thing in RS3, but… for some reason it seems limited to a ‘single’ runepouch in OSRS? You’re able to have multiple in RS3, and I did see that the OSRS version recently got updated with multiple presets of some sort, but… I’m still surprised by the fact you can apparently only use ‘1’?
Eventually I’ll go P2P, and thus also will train slayer and all that… but starting from 0 is going to be interesting, not having access to RS3’s ‘drop cleaners’. I did see that OSRS apparently has a bone crusher (though that seems to be locked behind an achievement diary?) and an herb bag (though that requires 58 herblore and is locked behind some other stuff), but I’m curious what other kind of items would be useful, so that one is able to pick up as much loot as possible. The only other thing I have spotted is a ‘Gem bag’… but what other items would be worth keeping an eye on to obtain? OSRS has a LOT of unfamiliar content for me, and it’s a strange feeling being a noob yet again. xD
In conclusion, a TL;DR: I’ve been enjoying the F2P world of OSRS a LOT. Reliving old memories, encountering new stuff… it’s been great.
- Loving the new quests that are accessible to F2P
- Loving the beginner clue scrolls for the early game, even though the rewards are pretty horrible.
- I miss QoL things like the currency pouch, toolbelt, and the amazing bank presets.
- The Hill Giant and Moss Giant population has been decreased a little bit.
- Wondering if Fletching will ever become F2P just like in RS3, as to me it makes sense to bring it in line with the creation of runes and armor?
- Run energy regen SUCKS at level 1 agility, and when there are no roadside musicians to restore run energy at, or by ‘resting’ on the go.
- Curious about what ‘drop cleaner’ items there are in OSRS, to make looting during things like slayer a lot easier, and intrigued by the fact that players can apparently only have a single rune pouch, unlike in RS3?
Anyway… Sorry for possibly taking up your time with a lot of useless information. Hopefully this has been a fun read for some of you at least. I’m very much looking forward to experience even more of OSRS in the future… be it brand new content like Scurrius or Varlamore, or older content I’m already familiar with, like.. brrr…. One small favor (Without all the lodestone teleports, that’s gonna be quite the walk =P). I doubt I’ll end up doing much bossing, as even in RS3 I lack the skills for endgame bossing, but… Whatever I’ll end up doing, it surely is gonna be a great time! And fingers crossed that sailing as a future brand new skill will be amazing. =D

2024.03.16 17:03 sunny_xo Been Out Of The PC Game For 15 Years, Returning And Need Advice For Old Gaming (Left4Dead, Age of Empires) + Office Build [RGB Help too]
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
I will be looking to do office work, which involves multiple Word documents open, sometimes multiple Chrome Tabs open and AutoCad (2d). This may also include having large PDFs open simultaneously and building creation in Sketchup
I use an automated macro to automatically scan a Chrome browser and run a macro based on changes, would love it I could run this without lag. Sometimes when I play a YouTube Video alongside this my browsers lag
I would also look to be doing some Photoshop images (very basic image creation)
I have a Samsung Neo G8, would love to be able to play games at 4k/1440p 144hz if that's possible.
I have a PS5 so not AAA Games that release on the PS5 too as I would play these on the PS5, not PC.
Games like Runescape, Age of Empires 3, Counter Strike, Palwords, Valorant, The old republic etc At 4k 144hz would be nice. If not 4k, 1440p
Fortnite and WARZONE would be a bonus but not necessary.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
£2500. Just want something fit for purpose and will last. I am using a 10 year old PC at the moment, only switching because all the programs I use are dropping Windows 8 support (Stuff like Chrome too)
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
By July 2024.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Just the PC
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
London.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Have a Samsung Neo G7 4K 144hz Monitor
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
No.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
I want the ability to control all my RGBS in union like this;
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/NkO9b_ad8F0 What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
Something that can pick up a Strong WiFi signal would be great. Otherwise a LAN port capable of 1gb transfer speed
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
I am looking at the Phantek NV5
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Yes
Extra info or particulars:
I would love the ability to put Lian Li Infinity fans in here, along with a Lian Li GA II Trinity, along with the Phantek Premum LED Kit here;
https://www.phanteks.com/NV5-LED-Kit.html And have them all sync in union like this;
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/NkO9b_ad8F0 This is a big thing I am looking at. Is this possible? This would be the most important piece of my build
Whilst I understand the RGB could be more expensive than the components the look of the PC is important to me

2024.03.14 04:53 whunt1001 First build since 2018, been out of the loop for awhile and could use some help
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
- exclusively a gaming pc, mainly playing MMORPGs like WoW, Runescape, FF14 ect. In 1080p. Occasionally may play some fps games like overwatch 2 for example.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
At most 2 weeks from today.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
- CPU, CPU cooler, motherboard, ram, gpu, m.2 ssd.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
- I live in Louisiana but drive through the Dallas Ft. Worth area 2x monthly and plan on using the microcenter there.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
- reusing corsair RM750x psu, Lian Li 011 Dynamic case, Corsair LL series case fans(6 currently installed), also reusing my monitor, keyboard and mouse.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
- I honestly have no idea, probably not unless it's greatly beneficial and fairly easy.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006645/amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d,-gigabyte-b650-gaming-x-ax-v2,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-bundle with a 4070 is what I'm currently considering.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
- I have the white 011 dynamic with the white corsair psu, white modular cables from said psu and white case fans, so I was going for a very white, clean, snow look but don't particularly care if this gets skewed.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?

2024.03.10 23:03 garden-slug1 <$1000 PC for productivity, light gaming, & light video editing
This is a slightly modified repost of
https://www.reddit.com/buildapcforme/comments/1bbgyvc/1400_pc_for_productivity_gaming_and_light_video/ bc I felt like my modded Skyrim requirement was pushing up the cost too much.
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
I'll mostly be using this PC for productivity & moderate multitasking (browsing, watching videos, shopping, etc.) To this end, I'd like it to be at least as powerful as my M1 Macbook Pro.
I'll mostly be gaming on console with some light gaming on my PC. I'll be playing MMO's (runescape, FFXIV) and indie games (Stick of Truth, Stardew Valley, Minecraft). I don't think I'll be running too many GPU intensive games but I would like it to be able to run basic games well.
I'd also like to do some light video editing. Nothing too crazy, just splicing clips together and adding some visual effects (think basic amateur AMV's).
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
$1000 USD (cheaper is better though ofc)
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Preferably immediately but I can also wait a few months if that would be beneficial
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Basically everything except for a mouse, keyboard, and monitors. At the least, I think this will include tower, OS, motherboard, storage, memory, CPU, GPU, and power supply.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
Illinois, USA. Yes I'll have access to a microcenter nearby.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Monitor: Acer nitro VGO-28" Keyboard: Kinesis Freestyle 2 Mouse: logitech ergonomic bluetooth mouse Harddrive: WD10EZEX SATA drive 1Tb
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
No
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
I like my computers how I like my men - cool and quiet. In all seriousness, a computer that doesn't get too hot is important. My place gets pretty hot during the summers and I don't want my PC adding 10 degrees of heat to my already hot room.
SSD 500GB - 1TB should be more than enough
If possible, I'd like the CPU to be future proofed for at least ~4 years. I don't do super intensive gaming on PC so the GPU isn't as important. I can always upgrade that later down the line if I switch to more PC gaming.
What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
WiFi. My router was provided by Xfinity. Model # tg02dcw4482ct
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Something aesthetically pleasing where you can see the internals would be cool! Like

Games wise I'll be playing MMO's (runescape, FFXIV), indie games, and modded Skyrim. Aside from modded Skyrim, I don't think I'll be running too many GPU intensive games. If running modded Skyrim on high settings would significantly increase costs, I’d prefer to just keep costs low and just play vanilla Skyrim. I'd also like to do some light video editing. Nothing too crazy, just splicing clips together and adding some visual effects (think AMV's).

2024.03.02 08:50 Wussul To upgrade or to rebuild?
Wondering if I should upgrade my PC or just start from scratch. The question is mainly, are some of the components good enough to keep, as I want to try and minimise what I spend on my PC.
If so, what would the best bang for buck upgrade?
Thanks :)
EDIT: My goal is to play games at 1440p, I mostly play Diablo 3/4, Runescape, Last Epoch, planet zoo and some other building simulators.
Below is my current build

2024.02.24 17:53 carl_spackler_bent $1200 for my first build. Looking to run 1440p 60+ fps but ideally more (MA, USA)
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
- Gaming and web browsing. Gaming will consist of anything from Runescape and Pokemon emulators to AAA titles. Ideally like the build will get 100+ fps on highest settings in 1080p and 60+ fps on medium/high settings in 1440p. This might a later upgrade, but I'd like the build to function well on an ultrawide monitor.
- Case, CPU, GPU, WiFi motherboard, power supply, cooler, memory, storage. If the performance difference between a $1,000 setup and a $1,200 setup would be minimal for what i want (very high fps 1080p and high-ish fps 1440p) then I would like to put the last $200 toward a 27 in. 1440p 100+hz monitor
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
- Massachusetts, US. I live really close to a Microcenter
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
- I have a Ducky one keyboard and Gigabyte mouse that I'm happy with. I also have a 27 in viewsonic 1080p monitor that ill be using as a vertical/second monitor.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
- I'd be interested down the line
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
- I don't want any RGB in my setup, just not my style. Preferably 2 TB of storage. I'd prefer not to have to have to update BIOS. I'd be willing to pay on the higher end of my budget to future proof the build a bit.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
- I really like the look of a mini ITX case like the Fractal Terra. But this is my first build so I don't want to cause myself issues by not having enough space. A black mid-tower with a side window and no RGB would work. Wood front panel would be great but not trying to break the bank on a case.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
- Yes but i've also read i can get a key for cheap. If i can get windows 7 or 10 in a legit way for cheap, then upgrade to 11 for free then I'd like to do that.
Extra info or particulars:
- What other things would I need to build that a beginner wouldn't think of? tools and other stuff
