Hi guys,
Today a family ordered dessert and wanted turtle cheesecake and two peanut butter pies. I didn't see any peanut butter pie in the back so I asked my manager. He said "Go ask Jake, he's standing around out there". I'm only a month in and haven't committed everyone's name to memory but I go up to whom i think is Jake and say "Hi, is your name Jake?" Dude looks me dead in the face and says no. I say "Oh...ok.' and go ask someone else about the pie and they're like if you didn't see it we are out.
Cool no problem go update my table - they say no worries and just get 3 turtle cheesecakes. Now while I'm getting the cheesecakes I see not Jake getting out peanutbutter pies....
Why is it so hard for people to just...not be counts? Idk if it's because I'm new or this grown man is immature but I felt shifty about it all night. Is kitchen staff often like this to servers? I've also had a fellow server tell me not to buss his tables because it "wasn't his jam"....am I just being sensitive to different personalities?

Ran out of time so just threw it together. Not so bad for a first try.

I've been sugar free for 2,5 months now. I read Sarah Wilson's I Quit Sugar and decided to not use sweeteners the first few weeks, eat fat when I was craving (ate a lot of peanutbutter) and see how I felt.
I didn't restrict myself in any way except no sugar. Or, no more than 30g but I almost never exceeded 20. I ate a lot of meat, mayonaise, etc. Didn't lose any weight, yet. Also felt like a zombie, which got better after eating a bit of salt when I felt like that.
I notice I don't binge nearly as much, and not just because that's physically impossible without sugar. I also don't get the sugar crashes I used to; I can go half a day without food and only have maybe two short moments of feeling woozy.
I'm glad. Because I absolutely LOVED sugar. I ate so much chocolate, every day. Loved cookies, was addicted to coke zero (which I quit also, of course). I really thought I was so addicted.
But I feel great. My crohns is way better, I have more energy, am more resilient mentally.
I now use maybe one or two teaspoons of stevia, to put in yoghurt with cacao nibs, or make chiapudding. I sometimes eat a little bit of pie when someone offers it to me - it's delicious, but I don't need more. I put soy milk in my tea, which has a little sugar. I often find a lot of food, like a certain brand of pizza, too sweet.
It's a little getting used to, not being hungry much. I used to have lunch and dinner ready in the morning (mostly just having precooked food out of the freezer) and felt bad wasting it, or I decided to eat lunch because otherwise I wouldn't be hungry enough at dinnertime. I really need to trust my body to tell me it's hungry, which is new for me. But when I do, and not treat emotional stuff as hunger, I really eat very little.
Just wanted to share a success story. It wasn't that hard for me. Which I am very grateful for.
It does help that I LOVE fat. I love mayonaise, peanutbutter, etc. These are my new treats, though I often mix mayonaise with yoghurt because it's so calorie dense. I also love eating cheese. And avocados.
Anyone else have this experience?

Snap

Snap was once a simple drawing created by the 8 year old Rudy Tabootie before being erased into Chalkzone (the world were everything erased from a chalkboard ends up). After Rudy found magic chalk in his classroom which allowed him to access Chalkzone, he and Snap teamed up to stop the rampaging Bully Nerd. Since then the two of them have been the best of friends, with Snap being Rudy's most constant companion whenever the boy visits Chalkzone to explore and or protect it, and Snap also has plenty of adventures on his own.
Notes

• Most feats involve objects in Chalkzone which are explicitely made of chalkdust. As such it's not entirely clear how they compare to real world counterparts.

Its summer. Days are longer, people are out and about, and evening snacking or dessert is not always possible to avoid. I'm sharing some snack and dessert ideas that are low cal and relatively healthy but don't taste like it- and asking what's yours?
- Greek yogurt with some sprinkles of sugar-free pudding mix mixed in. Tastes like dessert! Super fan of the cheesecake. Tastes like cheesecake ;)
- I got a Ninja Creami and I pour a caramel fairlife protein shake in the cup, use a bit of unsweetened vanilla almond milk to "wet it up" before the spin, and poof. 180 cal pint of ice cream with 30g of protein.
- I make cinnamon applesauce in my instant pot and its SO stupid easy with a $20 apple peelecorer from Amazon. Put a little tiny bit of whipped cream on a serving and its like apple pie.
- Golden's fruit blintzes. About 90 cal each. Again, warmed up and a Tbs of whipped cream and tastes like pie. They have apple, blueberry, and cherry. This can also be a dessert to share at a BBQ if you put all of them in a package in a square baking dish to bake all together and maybe sprinkle with a bit of powdered sugar at the end.
- Frozen cherries (or strawberries) and sprinkle cocoa powder on them, microwave for 30 seconds, chocolate cherries.
- Frozen grapes. Really good for the mindless "hand to mouth" while watching Stranger Things, and cold and sensory. Also air-popped popcorn. That takes a little getting used to, but if its really just about the act of eating, it works.

Lots of research done on stock splits find that splits tend to generate ”abnormal” returns both in the short term (1 week) and long term (1 year). BUT this research is obviously conducted on a larger sample size than just 1 company. And also the case of AMZN is quite special as the shares are incredibly expensive. It will also have an additional effect from price-weighted indicies such as DOW which others have mentioned already. Overall assessment is still positive I’d say and buying before the split, given a good opportunity is what I’d do if I was looking to enter a new position (I already own a few shares).

I think it depends on your broker. Your fractional share should be converted to the corresponding amount of stock, post-split. It is possible that they might liquidate some of it so that you are left with a whole integer of stock (ie. if you have .22 AMZN they might liquidate 0.02 worth and leave you with 5 shares rather than 5.something). I would definitely message support on your brokerage to find out.

There are some considerations, but generally not terribly important. In the old days, weird numbers of shares were hard to trade -- generally people traded 100 shares at a time, and stuff not in multiples of 100 might have had a higher spread. That's no longer a concern, but it was worth worrying about 40 years ago. But old habits die hard. Options are still traded in lots of 100 shares. A reasonable share price makes options trading more feasible for people without enormous bankrolls. For instance, if I wanted to sell covered calls of AMZN, I'd have to own 100 shares, which is over a quarter million dollars. After a 20:1 split, I'd only have to own 14,000 worth. That said, I don't think this really benefits the company, just investors mucking about with derivatives. If your stock price drops too low, you can get delisted. For instance, NYSE will delist stocks that drop below $1/share. If your stock price goes too high, you might price out non-institutional investors. Amazon isn't really near that price, but BRK.A is pushing a half million per share because it has never split. Buffet addressed this issue by making BRK.B instead of splitting BRK.A. Splits are generally viewed as positive, whereas reverse splits are viewed as negative. But it's kind of a trailing indicator, so not a whole lot to worry about there. Still, I expect AMZN's price will trade higher than it should for a bit.

Since I work for AMZN all I can do is DCA through the direct stock purchase program which is probably the right thing to do anyways. I think the average investor is still underestimating the scale of investment going into building new FCs right now and how much it weighs on costs. From when covid started through now processes have changed to be more labor-intensive to support demand, by the end of the year I think capacity will be able to support the "normal" way of doing things and bring labor costs back down a bit. That combined with a respite or slow-down in new building would be a huge boost for profitability. Or if demand keeps growing a lot maybe they just keep growing as they are for a couple more years, what do I know.

Yeah, of course. I didn't buy it at those valuations for a reason. At its current valuation though I think it's an attractive buy. Given where interest rates are anything trading in the 10-20 range is mostly trash or extremely defensive. I mean their search. If you follow programmer and software architect sources like I do you'd know the internet is becoming more and more siloed and google's search penetrates that very minimally. Their results have suffered quite a bit as they're not as relevant and dominant as they used to be. How many websites do you habitually use? How often do you visit different unique websites, ever? YouTube is shooting itself in the foot very often and its recurring recommendation algorithm is just begging to be replaced by a better competitor. TikTok already canibalized major viewership and forced youtube to come up with a similar feature. Android's fine i guess but how much does that yield as revenue? The innovation failure to sustain and produce more products - where they had plenty of good stuff - is their worst problem. Look at AMZN by comparison: almost everything they touch turns to gold.

They’re just creating separate internal divisions because has and electric are so different they want the correct engineers and designers looking at each side. I think what you are hearing is correct, only trading your best patterns and minimizing slippage is better than trading many less-confident strategies. I like instant gratification and don’t like holding over night so I generally only trade the first hour of the day and then move on. It’s all personal preference as long as the juice is worth the squeeze. Edit: I’m coming off like I know what I’m talking about. I can confirm what you are saying is what I have read and experienced. I make 1-2 trades per day versus frequent little trades all day and it works better for me. But as far as how many “strategies” it’s something I’ve been asking myself as well. I try and keep it simple and just pay attention to price level and volume, I figure AAPL always follows the SPY and it’s got the liquidity so that’s all I trade. I’m not sure if that’s one strategy or if I’m just free balling it but it works.

It's good that you listed the arguments against as well, since I feel most of them are justified. Gone are the days of free money and propping up stocks that shouldn't have stratospheric PEs. The average PE during an Average year is around 18.5. If interest rates on the 10 year are 2%, that's a PE of 50, but NOT adjusted for inflation. If one uses Inflation of 5%...where the 10 year probably should be (if we didn't have such huge debt, and 60T of bonds in investors hands or re-purchased), the true PE should be somewhere between 18-20, about where the average is. That's for a company growing at a 'reasonable' 10-15% rate...I like PEG to be below 1.5, preferably under 1. Thus, a PE of 20 with a growth rate of 15% puts the PEG at 1.3, a fair number. So, why is AAPL still in the 25-27 range? Hmmm. Just doing the math. Questions?

Peanut Butter Balls III

Ingredients :

2 cups creamy peanut butter ½ cup butter 4 cups confectioners' sugar 3 cups crisp rice cereal 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions Instructions Checklist Step 1
Melt peanut butter and butter in saucepan, over low heat. In large bowl, mix crispy rice cereal and confectioners' sugar well. Pour melted peanut butter and butter over cereal and sugar and blend together thoroughly.
Step 2
Form into 1 inch or smaller balls, spread on cookie sheets, chill till firm in refrigerator (over night is okay).
Step 3
Melt chocolate in double boiler and keep melted while working with balls. A teaspoon is best to use in dipping the balls in chocolate. Dip good and place on cookie sheet. As you dip them place them back on cookie sheet and keep chilled till firm.

I've made these for years with slightly different proportions: 2 cups crunchy peanut butter, 2 cups powdered sugar, 2 cups rice krispies and 1 1/2 cups softened margarine. I, too, melt the choc. chips in the microwave with shortening. I went to a Party City and bought a plastic dipping spoon in the candy-making department....and it makes dipping the balls a MUCH easier process! Even when I double the recipe, every morsel goes.....as I place them on pretty plates or in pretty candy dishes and give them as Christmas gifts to very special friends!

These are WAY too sweet as the recipe is written. I cut the sugar to 2 cups and all I could taste was sugar - I couldn't even taste the peanut butter. I wound up having to melt down another cup of peanut butter and add another few cups of cereal to make them edible. I would never put more than 1 cup of sugar in this.

I thought these were excellent! I added about 1/4 cup more peanut butter and it was very easy to form balls by pressing the mixture together. Also- Instead of the messy process of dipping the balls, I used mini-muffin papers and covered the bottoms with melted chocolate and then added the peanut butter balls and poured chocolate over the top. Easy!

Oh my does this bring back memories! My Grandma Helen used to make these every Christmas and we all looked forward to them. I didn't have her recipe and I was so happy to find this on AR. I made these with my niece and we had a ball - no pun intended! I did made a couple of changes to made it hold together better. I used a whole jar of peanut butter (it's a little over 2 cups anyway), kept the butter the same, and reduced the sugar by 1 cup. I melted the peanut butter and butter in the microwave and then mixed everything. I put the peanut butter balls on cookie sheets lined with wax paper and let them chill for a few hours. I then dipped them in chocolate and red and green sprinkles for Xmas. Take one bite of these crunchy, peanuty, chocolatey little treats and you'll want to make these every year too!

Awesome! This is an excellant recipe! We didn't have any rice krispies so we took some kix and crunched them up and used those and they turned out great! Also, we had lots of trouble with the chocolate melting. It would get really grainy. Our solution was to put a little bit of chocolate in at a time over very low heat. It worked perfectly! Don't forget to stick toothpicks in the peanutbutter balls before you freeze them. Makes them much easier to dip;)

These are truly wonderful Christmas treats. I make them every year and they disappear in a hurry. Some advice...if you have an old fork you are willing to sacrifice, bend it so that is L shaped. Pour your melted chocolate into a narrow container and dip your pb balls this way. Keep a hot water bath handy if the chocolate starts to thicken. Also, if you tire of dipping in chocolate, another option is to roll in finely chopped pecans or walnuts, or a mixture of cocoa and powdered sugar...or you can just drizzle the chocolate over them in zig zag patern.

Very Good recipe. Guests thought the chocolate was a little rich, I think next time I'll try milk chocolate chips. Adding extra peanut butter is a good idea. And I think adding 2 tablespoons of shortening to the chocolate makes it a thinner layer of chocolate.

Great hit for kids and adults. Only used 2 cups sugar and 4-5 cups of rice krispies as I found it too wet to roll properly. I liked the crunchy texture that I remembered.

This was delicious. I have never had peanut butter balls before, but they are similar to buckeys, with out the cereal. I found that forming the balls was a little difficult because the mixture kept sticking to my hands. I solved that problem by dipping my fingers in some water. I brought some into work and everyone thought they were great.

We used to call these "chestnuts" when I was little, because once they're dark chocolate-covered balls with a circle of peanut butter poking out on top. These are really easy to make and they taste delicious. The peanut-batter batter will be a bit dry at first, but keep stirring until the icing sugar is fully combined. Definitely use toothpicks to dunk the balls in the chocolate - stick a pick in each ball before they are refrigerated. And, you don't need to cover them completely in chocolate - I find that is a bit too rich for most people's taste. Just dip halfway. A scrumptious Christmas treat!

I'm here in the south, so, personally, I'd consider sweet tea as the main drink, as an appetizer grilled watermelon, palmetto dip and chips and blackened Gator tail. Next would be fried chicken, potato salad, greens, and fried corn. For dessert, peanutbutter fudge, blueberry yum, pecan sweet potato pie. What about you?
