Hello, I am reaching out about this issue to see if I am the only one experiencing this. I have been having payment issues with varsity tutors. I have called, and they directed me to email the payments team, which can never give me a reasonable answer regarding what is going on with my IPS account. I recently invoiced a session on May 14th, which was dispersed on May 15th when I checked Invoicing on my varsity tutors account. When I log into IPS, I cannot see the dispersed funds on my IPS account, which they call paystubs. I have my active direct deposit set up, and they have my address, but I need an answer to where the money is being dispersed. They told me I was receiving the checks through the mail, which I had yet to receive.

There is an unfortunate but interesting situation going on at /yotta that another redditor on this sub brought to attention. Yotta is slightly different from Wealthfront, in that Yotta uses a middle man brokerage Synapse to cash sweep into partner banks. (To my understanding, Wealthfront performs the functions of both Yotta and Synapse in this comparison.) After declaring bankruptcy, Synapse revoked the visibility of some banks to their “dashboard”, meaning those banks have no idea how much each user actually holds in their accounts. Because they cannot verify account balances, those banks have paused all ACH transfers in and out, and Yotta users no longer have access to their deposits. This has been going on for more than a week, which can be devastating to anyone who has put all their cash in there.
The FDIC does not step in here because the banks themselves are still up and operational. Users have posted screenshots of FDIC replies redirecting them to the Federal Reserve, and there is generally still no clear direction or resolution.
It seems to me that something similar could happen to us if Wealthfront fails. Without Wealthfront, partner banks cannot verify account balances of individual users.
I think it’s an important consideration to anyone leaving their savings with Wealthfront. Curious if anyone has any additional thoughts on this topic.

I work for a small service company and I think they are having financial issues. For example they maxed out the company gas card and I was unable to get gas one day. Another example is I use to get direct deposit on Thursday and now I’m getting checks on Thursday and they keep making excuses about it. I started this company in January and work was stable until march,but I haven’t had a 40 hour week in 8 weeks. I have been working 30 to 35. My departmental handbook forbids me from seeking 'outside employment or compensation' before I pass my qualifying exam next spring. They expand that the policy is meant to ensure students are making adequate progress towards their degree. I had always imagined that this was to prevent someone from working as a waiter or consultant or whatever for 10-20 hours per week on the side, which I can understand. However, the 'forbidden' work I'm trying to do is literally pedagogy; I'm achieving my own goals with or without financial compensation (and I already do a lot of similar volunteer work during the semester anyways).
TL;DR should I worry about looming scary language in the handbook that threatens possible probation or dismissal for having extremely limited outside tutoring employment during the early stage of my PhD? Has anyone ever heard of anyone actually caring? I don't even see how my program would know about my spending a few hours after the lab per week doing paid tutoring unless I told them - I guess my hang-up is that I'd be receiving another W-2, maybe they'd find out that way?

I was wondering what this sub thinks about the best way to receive e-transfers. Specifically, having a password or having the funds deposited directly.
I'm a bit of a control-freak and like to keep a close eye on what is coming in and going out of my account. For this reason, I still use a password when receiving e-transfers.
I figure that way, scammers can't 'accidentally' deposit funds in my account (i'm sure everyone is familiar with that particular scam).
I have been told recently that 'the bank' has told people that it is safer to have the funds automatically deposited.
Thoughts?
