Autoloader outside of DLT

2024.05.14 00:17 Raroada Autoloader outside of DLT

Hi all, Over the past week I've been working on a couple of POC's trying to use the autoloader to load in files for the bronze(raw) layer and I've ran into some issues with using it. I had the expectation that I could use autoloader to pick up files since the last refresh or workflow run. So I run a workflow at 9 AM and it does x, then I run a trigger happens at 10 AM and it picks up the files between 9 AM and that 10 AM run, then does x.
So far, I haven't been able to reliably do that using either a readstream or a streaming table https://docs.databricks.com/en/sql/load-data-streaming-table.html . The readstream seems to work, but I've had to delete the checkpoint folders/files in order to reset the starting point. That is annoying and I might as well write some custom code to meet the needs stated above. The streaming table idea had potential but the issue is around CICD. It's easy to create tables manually in dev but we have our environment set up where all development happens in dev and then we promote to QA/UAT and prod and manually running code isn't acceptable in higher environments.
So first question, between those 2 patterns, is there something that I'm missing where either of those could work?
I know about DLT and have looked at it quite a bit. But as a team, we decided to move away from it due the pattern we wanted to use, config driven pipelines. This took away some of the advantages that DLT provided because we weren't providing the relationships, dependencies, DQ rules upfront.
Why do I want this behavior. We are trying to increase the frecuancy that we can refresh our gold tables. In order to met this, we've enabled CDC on our on-prem SQL Sever's. So every hour or so we use ADF to run a query to pickup the changes since the last run and dump the results to ADLS. From there we pick up the file and load it into bronze.
CDC capture on Sql Server -> pull the changes between 2 timestamps -> parquet file to ADLS -> some process in Databricks
I'll also ask this, Is there a need for Autoloader in this case? Part of me has wondered if I'm overthinking this and writing something simple to either copy to delta or drop a view over the latest parquet files
Thanks

2024.05.10 00:39 Separate-Share-8504 User's OST is reverting back to %LOCALAPPDATA% Randomly - any ideas?

Hi Everyone,
First post so please be gentle.

I'm posting under a personal account and not office as Firm doesn't allow joining with Firm email.
Running Citrix / Windows 2019 Server / FSLogix 2.9.8784.63912. All users citrix (450 users) across 20 servers. 20vCPU 86GB RAM. We use PVS golden image and reboot all citrix servers nightly @ 3am
We use UPM so FSLogix is only for ODFC. O365 Exchange. We do have on-prem exchange but no mailboxes on it
Scenario
We are finding that users OST files are being created on the network share (\\Server\ODFC) and are working fine for a period of time.
However users eventually 'break' (as I call it) and the OST reverts back to being created %localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook . Once the user is in this state at every logoff the OST file is lost and next login it is recreated in %localappdata% and the OST is being rebuilt. When we found 120 of 450 staff in this situation it flooded our gateway for 2 hours as OSTs were being re-created every morning.
Even though FSLogix is running and setting up the user once the user's Outlook profile has created an OST in %localappdata% that's where it will get created every morning as users login. Until we do the following
So we started cleaning them up. The only way was to:
This would result in the OST file being created / updated again on our network share (\\Server\ODFC)
We are finding that some users are stable and remain in this state for one day, two days, one week, one month? there's no logic or pattern.
Once the user reverts back to defaulting the OST to %localappdata% that it where it remains until we repeat the above steps.
We are pulling our hair out on this one.
Looking at the ODFC logs (FRXTRAY) when I review a user who breaks on that day their ODFC log is unremarkable. There's nothing in there to suggest why or what is going on. When I compare the ODFC log from the same server on the same day for another user who didn't break they're identical (except for SIDs etc..)
We've even written a powershell script to start Outlook for the staff and the script basically does the following
Even after adding this - it is still breaking randomly.
I've googled and nothing is coming up. Either this is unique to us? or I'm not asking / googling the right question.

2024.04.30 00:09 fck_thatsheaviiii 2018 used sq5 decision - HELP

So basically I’m likely going to buy an sq5 sometime this week.
Having some paralysis by analysis — maybe y’all can give me some different angles I’m missing… any help would be much appreciated.
Here are the vehicles:
  1. 2018- sq5- premium plus blue - 47,000 miles - $26,200 asking
  2. (2) owners
  3. clean carfax
  4. serviced by same audi dealer it’s whole life like clockwork
  5. listed by Hyundai dealer (standard included dealer 3 month/3000mi warranty)
Features: - Red calipers (unsure of s sport with diff - TBD) - adjustable driver controlled sport suspension (I assume spring?) - BO speaker package - carbon fiber package - cold weather package
Several thousand under KBB asking price*
  1. 2018 - sq5 - prestige - metallic grey - 65,000 miles - 27,000 asking
  2. (4) owners 🚩🚩
  3. minor cosmetic damage reported 6 months after sold to first owner (was CPO’ed by Audi twice afterwards) 🚩🚩
  4. serviced at same Audi dealer it’s whole life like clockwork
  5. minor cosmetic issues on some paint/trim areas but drives perfectly
  6. Audi inspection - passed, but having PPI Thursday
Features: - s sport package with air ride & sports diff - towing package - BO sound - alcontera seats - warm weather package - new tires just put on - new rear brakes this week
scheduled for inspection at reputable tuning shop this Thursday
  1. 2018 - sq5 - premium plus - black w grey seats - 33,000 miles - 31,500 asking
  2. (2) owners
  3. clean carfax
  4. same Audi dealer serviced whole life
Features: - BO sound system - diamond pattern stitch on grey seats - original window sticker doesn’t show s sport 🚩🚩 - spring suspension
——————
Here are my thoughts:
I’m having #1 and #2 inspected. Tomorrow and Thursday respectively.
I’m hesitant on #2 because:
  1. It’s extra shit I ultimately don’t need in the prestige (although air ride and sports diff confirmed 😫) that I would be getting at the expense of potential resale value.
  2. Other Resale value items (blue - #1 blue PP- is priced several thousand below KBB and they’re motivated to sell - (20k less miles) grey #2 - grey prestige - has 4 owners and a cosmetic incident on KBB from year 1 of ownership.
  3. 1 blue PremPlus comes from Hyundai dealer rather than corner lot dealer (offer standard 3 month/ 3,000 mile warranty from dealer on all used cars)

  4. Price: blue #1 is $800 less and comes with that dealer warranty, #2 does not
  5. 30,000 miles from now driving on #1 blue PP- 77,000 miles 30,000 miles from now driving on #2 grey prestige - 96,000 miles 🚩🚩 (would be now 5th owner, still with cosmetic ding on carfax)
  6. (Note that #3 is at the back of the list until I find out if it has s sport package and also due to my frustrations with the sales vultures)
————————— Here’s where I would appreciate any feedback:
If the blue one is the sport diff- I think that’s the one I want only for the miles and extra $$$. Seems like also better decision on resale considering mileage. What do you guys think?
But any hesitance from you guys for buying #2 instead ? I’ll be having 3rd party PPI’s performed on both regardless. I guess I’m just curious if that decision sounds best?
Anyone NOT have the sports diff and regret it?
And also— the red calipers for sport package in USA— what the hell is the verdict… I feel like I see a lot of red calipers on 2018’s and they don’t always correspond with the s sport package? Is that correct? I’m confused because I hear mixed messages but also have learned you can have the calipers just painted red for 500– so I’m hesitant with this blue one… can someone please help define this rule lol?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you !

2024.04.21 18:07 Holiday_Inevitable_3 What architecture would you choose?

BACKGROUND
I work for a financial company. We have a number of applications running other cloud providers, but we are now looking at the possibility of transitioning an existing web app to AWS, our first real use of AWS. We've been given a starting remit of getting the most basic MVP of a single hello world type page into production to prove the architecture and provide a development platform. If the pilot is successful and the team working well, actual customer functionality will then be migrated and we'll aim for a strangler pattern to migrate features and journeys within the app to AWS.
REQUIREMENTS
DISCUSSION
Based on the above what would you recommend as a setup? It feels like the two primary options for the back end architecture I see are running a containerised service (AppRunner or maybe ECS on Fargate) or lamda serverless. I'm open to other ideas as well. Also keen to know if I'm not thinking of something too.
Many thanks in advance.

And this is a list of things I've implemented/done in my organization related to security:
Pretty much every thing listed is a first for my organization. I've worked really hard to increase security and prioritize it where others haven't.
My employer sent me to a CISSP training which I loved and I'll be taking that exam soon.
What do you think? I'm located in the Northeast US. Currently making about $80k and seriously need to increase my salary. If you made it this far you have my sincere thanks! Nobody responded to me on the resume subreddit.

2024.04.20 04:59 Ill-Ad5218 Purple Punch A BIZARRE HYBRIDIZATION - SIMPLICITY IN COMPLEXITY OF GENETICS IN TERPOLOGICAL PROTOCOL

Purple Punch A BIZARRE HYBRIDIZATION - SIMPLICITY IN COMPLEXITY OF GENETICS IN TERPOLOGICAL PROTOCOL
Purple Punch is a cross.of 2 potent and more recently sought after genetics on the U.S. market. Purple Punch is a cross of Grandaddy Purple aka GDP aka GridLock crossed with the very popular Larry OG. Purple Punch was developed and brought to market in 2013, making this pure indica hybrid lean a fairly new generic. Prior to 2013 there really was not much of a Punch Craze in the world, in particular in the United States. However, The creation of Purple Punch by crossing Larry OG x Gridlock Gave the world a whole.new like of cannabis to tout about, PUNCH.
This is certainly a unique 80/20 Indica having 3 Primary Terpenes, Limonene a bridge, Myrcene a semi bridge, and Trans Caryophyllene also a non definer. The secondarily we see 5 terpenes, Fenchol, Terpinolene, camphene, alpha Pinene, alpha Humulene. I might put Humulene in Primary placement with trans Caryophyllene, otherwise the protocol has a wicked outlier here as there would be no primary definitive characteristic exemplary of the lean.
So Humulene being the 4th Primary, and 4 secondary., then the remaining 8 Are tertiary including the indica defining Linalool at 0.05%. Keeping in Mind as well that Alpha Pinene is Secondary and Beta Pinene is barely existent at 0.03%, not at all what one would expect for a 80/20 Indica.
This falls in line with the finding I have of Purple Punch which is relative to the applicability of the Pinene Lean Formula for Terpological Protocol. The lack of Application of thenformila indicates a pure genetic contribution, however, Purple Punch is far from 3 or less crosses from Landrace. However, the crosses in Purple Punch are very pure. There's more than just the simple 3 crosses but the genetics being used are within those 3 crosses.
The pinene lean formula is a formula that I intuited from longitudinal analysis of Maryland medicinal market confirmation of Analysees and eventually was able to put my proverbial finger on the math.
Alpha Pine + Beta Pinene =
Alpha/Sum :Beta/Sum is Approximately Equivalent to the Strain Lean Approximation.
Purple Punch is actually technically an 80/20 Indica Dominant Hybrid, but the Pinene Lean Formula is not applicable. What does that mean? This is important to define what that means. The formula doesn't work indicates that the cannabis producing that characteristic has a genetic makeup not excessively hybridized. When the pinene formula fails, it tends to do so in two ways, one more extreme than the other.
One way is by indicating that the known 80/20 Indica Dom. Hybrid is actually a 100% sativa. This is indicated by having a presence of Alpha Pinene and no beta Pienene, the same holds true for sativa purity. The other way is by presenting the exact opposite presentation of the reality of the cannabis at hand. So this 80/20 Indica Hybrid Would Present as 80/20 Sativa Hybrid.
The later is the case with Purple Punch with Beta Pinene at 0.03% & Alpha Pinene at 0.50%. Purple Punch is technically 80/20, yet this is saying 95/5 Sativa Dominant Hybrid. Sativa is relative to alpha Pinene much like limonene has a lemon sativa presentation and an orange indica presentation. Alpha pinene has a sharper piney pungency than Beta, which is more pungent and earthy than sharp and bright.
So that does.in fact mean that in this Pure Indica hybrid cannabis the expression of the sativa characteristic bridge Terpene pinene is exponentially higher than the expected indica characteristic of beta pinene dominance. looking into the genetics I don't find too surprising with the presence of Mass Skunk genetics and Sensi Northern Lights.
The Skunk Genetics and the Northern Lights Are bother great examples.ofnthe sativa presentation in the lack of Application of the pinene lean formula through numerous pure genetics combined in a hybridized manner so to speak. Skunk #1 in this instance, not Sweet Skunk or another is a cross.of 3 Landrace genetics, Mexico, South American Columbian, & Afghanistan. Sensi Northern Lights uses Northern Lights 1, 3, & 5.
These are all Purest Indica which is a direct derivation of AFGHANI by Neville Shoemaker crossed with either Hawaiian Landrace or Afghani,.making some super potent & Stable indica genetics. Even the Unknown strains, they are from areas of genetic royalty, like the Emerald Triangle. Or another is Hindu Kush by Neville which is again some premO Indica Mither natures Flinest.
Now the simplicity of Genetics being present when the Pinene Lean Formula works makes sense, a lack of simplicity in genetics means the strain is likely pure genetically.. . .not very hybridized. But, you have to differentiate between opposition in totality vs presence of the opposite. In this case it's a bit of both as the actuality is 80/20 Hybrid but we come to the conclusion of 95/5 Sativa Dominan, but I'd consider it presence of opposite. In that case, rather than the genetics being a clean cut trace back to Landrace in MotherbNature, in this case the Presence of Landrace and pure genetics appear in a hybridized crossing pattern that resembles a 60/40 hybrids genetic tree, but the genes present are for example Skunk dressed 343é Dr me á see d to #1, or Afghani, or Sour Diesel. Very pure genetics.
To answer the question, no the pinene lean. Formula does not work with Landrace genetics. remember, I built this Terpological protocol through longitudinal analysis of anecdotal experience backed by my decades.long study of cannabis, and it was developed to specify hybrid characteristics by differentiating between indica and sativa expressing Landrace characteristics defined in the Confirmation of Analysis. I did it this way because what better way to understand the mixing of Landrace than to first understand how the cannabis is expressive between indica vs Sativa In purity.....
See the entire Article and my other work on my Locals. Feel free to add your comments there if you like. Be easy.

2024.04.19 13:47 Equinophical [Exchange Online] 1.25% of emails bouncing back from subdomain/smarthost

Hi all, been stuck on this issue for a week and not getting anywhere. Any help appreciated.
Issue: Smart host is rejecting on average 75 out of 6,000 emails (within a 24 hour period) redirected to it. Most importantly, there is no common pattern, it occurs any time of day, to any user, from any IP, no matter the domain sent from (out of the approved domains). One user may have their mail bounced back, yet the same user sends another mail minutes later which is received successfully. Here are the errors received: "Exchange online error: ‎550 5.4.316 Message expired, connection refused, Socket error code 10061" "NDR (email bounce back sent to sender): No connection could be made because the target computer actively refused it. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the remote host - that is, one with no server application running."
Background: Company uses third party iManage, in this case to send and store documents via email using Client-side Work Communication Services (WCS). This is sent to '@wcs.companydomain.com'.
Setup/rules and connectors: In Exchange Online, there is a rule for all emails received to '@wcs.companydomain.com' to use the connector setup. The connector states to route all email messages through the smart host using 'ip address here'. This IP address is an on-prem server where iManage use a drop directory so it turns the incoming emails into files, plonks them in a folder and then iManage picks them up.
What I've tried:
Ultimately the fact that it's such a small amount of mail impacted is what's confusing me. Thanks in advance for any help.

Got my hands on the Universal. 45ACP Double Stack Mag Carrier, and let me tell you, it's a game changer. The high-quality carbon fiber gives it a sleek and durable design. The magazine retention device adjusts to fit an array of different magazine types from various firearm brands seamlessly. I must say, this holster fits perfect, and it's super comfortable for daily carry.
While the 1.5" standard belt clip makes the transition between IWB and OWB easy, the weight of just 1.5 ounces is surprisingly light. My only gripe is that the mag retention isn't as secure as I'd prefer. All in all, the versatility and durability of this holster speak for themselves.

I recently had the chance to try out the Blackhawk Foundation Series 5.56 Double Magazine Pouch, and I must say, it's a game-changer for anyone carrying magazines on the go. The adjustable shock cord allows for a secure fit, and when you need to grab your magazines quickly, you can easily remove it. The elastic body conforms nicely to the magazines, ensuring a smooth draw every time.
Adding to its versatility, this pouch comes with a single strip of MOLLE, which lets you attach smaller pouches. It's the perfect accessory for those who like to keep their gear organized. The only downside I can think of is that it's not compatible with all magazine sizes, so be sure to check the specifications before making a purchase. Overall, this pouch is a reliable and functional addition to any gear setup.

🔗Ambidextrous Kydex Magazine Pouch

I recently got my hands on the Bravo Concealment single and double Magazine Pouches, and let me tell you, they're a game-changer. Their robustness and toughness make them the perfect addition to my daily carry. I especially appreciate the single retention screw that allows me to customize the desired retention for a snug fit. It's hands down the best magazine pouch I've ever used.
While these pouches have served me well, there's always room for improvement. For example, I wish they were available in a wider range of sizes to fit a variety of magazine styles. Overall, if you're looking for reliable and customizable magazine pouches, the Bravo Concealment pouches are worth checking out.

As a product reviewer, I've had the chance to test out the Shellback Tactical Triple Stacker Open Top M4 Mag Pouch, and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. The pouch is designed to secure a full combat load of ammo, and it does so with ease.
This rugged and durable pouch uses a triple row, double stacked pattern to store six 30-round M4 magazines. Its open top design offers quick and easy access to your mags, especially in high-stress situations. To ensure your magazines stay secure, the pouch features adjustable bungee retention cords with pull tabs, making it simple to keep them in place.
In addition, this double stack option provides extra ammo capacity while maintaining a slim profile. And, if that wasn't enough, the Shellback Mag Pouch is fully compatible with MOLLE webbing. It features six button snap webbing straps, allowing you to attach the pouch to any gear equipped with PALS webbing.
This product has been a reliable choice for me in my daily routine. Although it doesn't have a lot of weight, the quality and performance make up for it. Overall, this triple stacker Mag Pouch is a gamechanger for those looking to securely transport their ammo in the field.

🔗Durable Mag Pouch for Tactical Use

The 5.11 Tactical Flex Double AR Mag Pouch 2.0 in Black is designed to provide easy access to your AR-15 magazines without sacrificing security. Made of 500D Nylon, this pouch features a concealed PC retention insert that makes it simple to use and ensures the magazines are held securely. The high strength PC compression insert, along with the elastic retention, provides added protection, making it ideal for both close-range shooting and high-velocity use. The Flex-HT Mounting System allows the pouch to be easily attached, while the laser-cut MOLLE front panel ensures maximum versatility in mounting locations.
During my personal experience with the Flex Double AR Pouch 2.0, I noticed that it held the magazines securely, and the added protection ensured the magazines didn't come loose while in motion. This pouch is great for shooting at the range and during training scenarios, as it provides a quick and reliable way to access your magazines.
However, there are a few drawbacks I encountered while using the pouch. The mounting system seemed a bit overcomplicated, requiring me to experiment with different techniques to find the optimal mounting location. Additionally, I was concerned about the durability of the plastic back attached to the pouch, which felt a bit cheap compared to the high-quality Nylon and nylon webbing used throughout the rest of the pouch.
Overall, the 5.11 Tactical Flex Double AR Mag Pouch 2.0 in Black is a reliable and secure way to carry your AR-15 magazines. While there are a few minor drawbacks, the benefits of easy access to your magazines and increased security make this pouch a valuable addition to any shooting enthusiast's gear collection.

As a daily user of this Blackhawk Foundation Single Pistol Mag Pouch, I've found it incredibly reliable and adaptable to my needs. The 1000D to 500D laminate material provides a balance of durability and flexibility, ensuring my magazines stay secure yet easy to access.
The lightweight and low profile design, combined with the elastic side panel construction, provides a comfortable, versatile fit. However, I did notice that it took some time to get the MOLLE tuck straps to weave smoothly.
Despite this minor inconvenience, I'm happy to have this pouch as an essential part of my daily carry.

🔗Adaptable SIG P365-XMACRO Holster by Blackhawk

As someone who has experienced firsthand the convenience and security of the Stache IWB Sig P365-XMACRO Base Kit by Blackhawk, I'm thrilled to share my thoughts on this innovative holster.
The first thing that stands out is its adjustable passive retention, which makes drawing your firearm swift and effortless while ensuring your device is securely held in place. The Stache complements many popular handguns with red dot sights mounted, providing users with versatility and reliability. Plus, it can be used with the Discreet Carry Concepts Gear Clips (sold separately) for added customization.
In terms of craftsmanship, the Stache takes the cake with its injection-molded design. This process results in a remarkably thin holster that maintains its strength. It's also worth mentioning the holster's smooth rounded edges, a feature that not only adds to its aesthetic appeal but also makes it incredibly comfortable to wear for extended periods.
While I appreciate the Stache's many virtues, I must also note that it's not perfect for every conceivable situation. Some users may find that it's not compatible with their preferred gun model, or they might simply prefer a different style of holster. However, considering the Stache's unique blend of comfort, versatility, and security, I firmly believe it's a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to enhance their concealed carry experience.

🔗Blackhawk 7.62 Double Magazine Pouch - Secure and Adjustable

In my line of work, being well-equipped can mean the difference between success and failure. That's why I've come to rely on the Blackhawk Foundation Series 7.62 Double Magazine Pouch. This durable little gem holds two SR25/AR10-sized magazines securely in place, thanks to the adjustable shock cord. The elastic body molds to the shape of your magazines for a snug fit, and the draw is as smooth as a perfectly executed routine.
For added versatility, you can even attach smaller pouches to the outside using the included MOLLE strip. It's a feature I didn't think I'd use, but when I needed a quick holster for my sidearm, it saved the day.
But, as with everything in life, there are a couple of downsides. First, it's designed for SR25/AR10 magazines, so it might not be the best fit for all your needs. And secondly, while the shock cord can be removed for faster access, it's not as quick as a simple flap toggle.
Overall, though, the Blackhawk Foundation Series 7.62 Double Magazine Pouch is a handy tool to have in your arsenal. It's built to last and offers a level of organizational help that's been greatly appreciated in my line of work. It's definitely worth considering, especially if you're in a role that benefits from the careful arrangement and easy access of your gear.

🔗Durable Leather Magazine Holder with Wear Options

I recently got my hands on the Relentless Tactical leather magazine holder, and it's been a game changer for my daily concealed carry needs. This bad boy is made right here in the USA by a true craftsman, which gives it a special feel.
The genuine bullhide leather really stands out – it's a high-quality, durable material that breaks in like a glove. You won't even notice it's there, which is a major plus. There are options for both IWB and OWB wear, and it fits not just any magazine, but virtually all popular ones out there. Plus, the double and single stack options ensure it's versatile enough for any magazine setup.
But there's always room for improvement. While the quality is top-notch, the process of getting it exchanged or returned might be a bit of a hassle. Nonetheless, this isn't a deal breaker for me, especially since the pouch itself is the best CCW magazine holder on the market. Give it a try, and you'll see why it's worth the investment.

🔗Premium Adjustable Inside-the-Waistband Holster for Glock 43

I recently had the chance to try out the Blackhawk Stache IWB Base Holster Kit for my Glock 43. To say I was impressed with its advanced features would be an understatement. One of the highlights that stood out to me was the adjustable belt clip, which allowed me to customize the height and cant, making it perfect for my everyday carry.
The ambidextrous design was also a plus, as it allowed me to switch easily between right and left hand carry without any issues. However, there were a couple of cons I had to work with. The shirt guard sometimes interfered with my natural movements, but I quickly adapted to this. Additionally, the holster could be a bit tight around my waist, but once I found the sweet spot, it became quite comfortable to wear.
Overall, the Blackhawk Stache IWB Base Holster Kit for the Glock 43 exceeded my expectations and provided a perfect blend of comfort, rigidity, and modularity.

I recently got my hands on the Safariland Incog Sig P320 Mag Pouch Blk RH and I must say, it's been quite a journey. At first, the holster seemed a bit discomforting, but once I got used to the feel, it became a reliable and secure choice for my everyday carry.
One of the standout features of this holster is the adjustable clip positioning, which allows for ride-height adjustment. It's like having a personalized fit for your gun, making it a cinch to conceal and carry comfortably. The holster also comes with a durable magazine caddy that securely holds your spare mag while keeping your gun close to your body.
However, there were a couple of cons I had to deal with. For one, the holster is quite bulky - especially when you add the magazine caddy. Although the build makes it strong and secure, it can be a bit unwieldy in tight spaces. Additionally, the clips that attach the holster to my belt felt a bit too tight, causing me to swap out my belt for a thinner one just to make it easier to secure and remove the holster.
Overall, the Safariland Incog Sig P320 Mag Pouch Blk RH is a reliable, adjustable, and comfortable choice for carrying your Sig P320. It does have its quirks, but for the most part, it gets the job done.

I recently tested the Blackhawk 416178BK Stache Holster IWB Sig P365XL Prem Kit, and I have to say, it's a game-changer for concealed carry enthusiasts. The impact-reinforced, injection-molded polymer design has impressive rigidity without being too bulky.
It's ambidextrous and adjustable for right or left-hand carry, making it a versatile option. I also liked the low profile shirt guard that added comfort without impacting the draw stroke.
However, I noticed that the friction adjustable passive retention wasn't as smooth as expected. Overall, a well-thought-out holster that combines comfort, versatility, and modularity.

I recently gave the Blackhawk Stache Holster a try, and let me tell you, it exceeded my expectations. The customizable fit and adjustable features made it an absolute dream for everyday carry.
One of the standout features was the low profile shirt guard. It added a level of comfort and inconspicuousness that Kydex holsters often lack. Furthermore, the ambidextrous design allowed me to easily switch between left and right hand carry, making it a versatile option for my lifestyle.
However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. Although the product is advertised to accept popular Discreet Carry Concepts Gear Clips Mod-28, I found that it could be improved with more adjustment holes for belt attachments, allowing for an even lower appendix carry position.
Despite these minor concerns, the Stache Holster proved to be a reliable and comfortable choice for concealed carry. I appreciate its commitment to quality and American craftsmanship, as it was clear that the design and engineering process involved meticulous attention to detail. Overall, I highly recommend the Stache Holster for those seeking a comfortable, reliable, and customizable addition to their concealed carry setup.

Safariland's Incog X magazine pouch stands out as a versatile and secure option for firearm enthusiasts. The pouch is constructed using Boltaron, which provides form-fitting passive retention, and features a microfiber suede exterior for added friction and comfort. The integrated magazine caddy is adjustable, ensuring a perfect fit for your Glock Gen 4/5 17/19, and the clip positioning can be adjusted to allow for ride-height adjustment.
Although it may not be the most comfortable option for all users and requires a bit of tweaking, this Magazine Pouch offers a solid solution for securing your firearm and magazine in a convenient and discreet manner.

2024.04.13 02:33 Nightwyrm Looking for a steer on Open Table Format solution

This is somewhat of a continuation of a previous question but with more of a specific use case scenario.
We need to stand up an on-premises solution that will allows us to accumulate and store a rolling year's worth of daily snapshot files from several major source systems so that we can merge data into common data models and create extracts. The OSS versions of Open Table Formats seem to make the most sense on paper as we can quickly extract and store the source files in our on-prem S3 (we also have an on-prem Spark), and not have the development overhead of a database or data warehouse equivalent. The question comes down to how we manage the data within the chosen OTF format.
Assuming a Delta Lake medallion structure (and thinking in dbt terminology), my guess would be that it would be along this design:
My assumption is that the data history is accumulated within the SilveGold tables and that the Delta versions allow for rollback and recovery, but OTF is new to me and I come from a data warehouse background so am trying to understand it from that perspective.
Is this the typical pattern or have I misunderstood something?

2024.04.10 07:49 DesertGoat Ideas for dynamically renaming columns in a data pipeline

I have a pattern that I generally use when I need to copy data from an on-prem SQL server to a ADLS/Synapse, and that is basically to use a copy data activity to copy the data into parquet format and then a spark notebook to read the parquet files, do any necessary transformations, and then merge into a delta lake sink.
Typically in this pattern, I use a control table that contains the table names to be pulled as well as any other relevant information so that I can parameterize the pipeline and run a for-each loop to copy the data, then run the notebook a single time at the end.
What I am running into is that some of the on-prem sources have column names that contain spaces, which is not allowed in parquet. It's also not a best practice, but these are old ERP systems that we are pulling data from.
I attempted to work around this by creating a stored procedure on the server that accepts as a parameter the table name and then does a select statement to alias the columns with spaces, replacing them with underscores. This works fantastic if I run it in SSMS, and even if I use it in a copy data activity in Fabric it allows me to preview the data. However, when I execute the pipeline or try to pull in the schemas, I get an error about an invalid syntax near the keyword 'FROM.'
It is important to note that this is not the actual problem, as I can run the same stored procedure with the same parameter in SSMS and get correct data.
Any ideas you have would be very much appreciated. One potential idea I had was to try and create a dynamic SQL query in pipeline expression syntax, that will probably be my next path barring any new ideas.

2024.03.20 23:59 Junior-Letterhead713 SAP and Fabric

I wanted to get thoughts around a data architecture pattern for Fabric and SAP.
We currently use "SAP Landscape Transformation Replication Server", (SAP SLT in short - an out of box SAP product) to replicate the data into on prem SQL with real time CDC. We are then incrementally loading data from SQL server via import mode in Power BI with hourly refresh schedules. It's a great working solution with import mode providing a seamless user interaction business users.
On the flip side, we are looking to migrate this workload to suit Fabric architecture. Now these are the options we are thinking of:
  1. Use SAP "datasphere" to replicate to ADLS gen2 in near real time and shortcut from ADLS gen2 to Fabric.
  2. Use SAP "datasphere" or other replication tools to replicate data directly to onelake using ABFS path
  3. Mirror existing SQL database with SAP data to fabric with SAP SLT replicating to SQL as per current state (assuming this feature is coming soon)
  4. Use azure ADF SAP connector with pipelines and move data with CDC capture. (Fabric pipeline is currently limited with on prem SAP)
Of these options, which would be optimal and most efficient. Are there any other options that we have not thought of that may be better suited for SAP data that would provide a seamless user consumption experience?
Any thoughts on this would be really appreciated.

2024.03.02 11:49 Mers300 RabbitMQ on Windows Containers

Hi all,
I'm currently architecting a large solution and as part of that, of course, utilize containerization.
I'm normally working with the possibility of using unix platforms, but in this specific scenario/product, a large amount of the customers and potential customers, are on-prem hosted windows servers - a condition i cannot change.
As part of the architecture, i want to utilize a message bus with publish/subscribe in a fan-out pattern. I'm quiet fond of RabbitMQ, but have found that they do not support any images for windows platform containerization - sadly.
Do any of you have a recommendation for alternatives or walk-arounds to using RabbitMQ, which i can both orchestrate and test/do development with in a windows container? I've looked into Azure Bus, but this is only cloud, and not suitable for offline development etc.
Looking much forward to hearing your expertise as i am quiet new at designing for a pure WIN environment.

2024.02.27 21:54 Upper-Information-31 The Man, the Myth, the Legend: Michael Perry

This is a tale of playing every match in ten seasons over eight months. This is a tale of one man defying expectations, silencing the haters, and conquering the world of football, one doubt at a time. Sit down, grab a cup of coffee, and allow me to share with you the Legend of Michael Perry.
Barrow FC is a small team with even smaller expectations. Short of managing the finances, the Board of Directors was unambitious and complacent. One man, Sir Far Tzalot - the new head coach - had other ideas. An American, he pursued the finest youth players the Anglosphere had to offer. Scouts were sent to the United States, England, and Australia in the beginning of his tenure. Among the many interesting players discovered by crack scouts was a young man by the name of Michael Perry, a 16 year old American affected by what seemed to be early male pattern baldness and the most robust beard imaginable on a teenager. Michael Perry was not a looker, but Sir Far Tzalot saw greatness in his future. Michael Perry was signed and promoted to the senior team at the ripe age of 16, destined to make a difference in the world of football.
Unfortunately, not all was as it seemed. Sir Far Tzalot quickly discovered that, while Perry had great potential, he could never be classified as “exciting” nor “special.” Still, after a strong start in League 2, Perry found himself playing regular football in the first team. While he was competing against a truly special youngster from England in his role of CAM, he was dropped from the first team many times during his first three years in favor of the English prodigy. Despite the insecurity, Perry had always shone brighter than his counterpart with greater potential. Much to Perry’s surprise, he was transfer listed, despite his regularly excellent performances on the pitch. In the end, it was the English prodigy that was sold in Barrow’s first season in the Championship. Perry, having received no transfer offers from any other clubs, remained at the team.
Despite the sale of his arch-rival, not all was well in the world of Michael Perry. A new signing had arrived to once again place him on the bench; one Giovanni Reyna had come to upturn his apple cart. Still, Perry was a useful backup player to Sir Far Tzalot, and so he remained at The Bowyer.
After a mid-table finish in the Championship, Perry’s new competition in Reyna found himself with a long-term injury. Relying on Perry to come in and do the business, Tzalot placed mild faith in Perry. After all, he had always performed better than his skills would suggest.
Perry seized his opportunity in every way. With the most assists by the end of their Championship campaign, Michael Perry and Barrow FC found themselves battling for promotion via the playoffs - and battle, they did. In their final game of the season, Barrow FC won their promotion after finding themselves down 2-0 early when Michael Perry scored a hat trick in the final 30 minutes. Barrow FC were going to to the Prem, thanks to the dedication and impressive shot power of the one and only Michael Perry.
The greatness of Michael Perry does not stop there. Upon Reyna’s recovery, the great-not-special youngster - now 24 - managed to convince Tzalot to split his time 50/50 with Reyna.
One season later, Barrow found themselves on the top of the table, battling an impressive Liverpool team for the title on the final day. Going with recent form, Reyna was starting ahead of Perry in the final match against Arsenal. The injury of star CB Chris Richards made its presence instantly felt. Down 3-0 and surely losing their chance at the title, Michael Perry was subbed on at the 50 minute mark. Giovanni Reyna, now an absolute beast at this point in his career, was gassed.
Who do you think picked up one goal, three assists, and two “secondary” or “hockey” assists? That’s right - MICHAEL. FUCKING. PERRY. In an impressive 6-3 comeback win against Arsenal, Perry sealed the fate of Barrow FC as CHAMPIONS. Liverpool in shambles.
Did you think the legend stops there? You would be sorely mistaken. Sir Far Tzalot, in his infinite wisdom, was finally convinced. Michael Perry has earned his starting spot. Tzalot would not make the same mistake again in benching Mr. Clutch himself.
That decision paid off when Perry, leading the charge against Europe’s best, scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory against PSG in the Champion’s League final the very next year.
With that, The Bowyer collects its first treble. The FA cup, the Premier League, and the Champions League all featured moments of greatness from one man - the very same man that was benched multiple times, transfer listed, and fought day after day for his place in the team - Michael Fucking Perry.
Thanks for reading.
quick comments
FIFA 23.
Hope I made it clear from the writing, but Perry had “Showing Great Potential” upon leaving YA. His counterpart of the same year had “Potential to be Special.”
He finished the save game at 88. Dynamic potential is really cool, “showing great potential” disappeared from his profile in the championship at 85 overall.
He was never the highest overall on the team at any point in his career, and in fact he was virtually always lower rated than whoever my other CAM was at the time.
I love FIFA career mode so much because I can create these story lines for myself. With a little suspension of disbelief, I find role playing FIFA manager career mode extremely enjoyable. It’s a shame EA doesn’t care.
Thanks again

2024.02.19 22:12 adam_clooney How does Waf work?

HI, im new to network security and im trying to learn about WAF.
What's the difference between on-prem vs cloud waf? How and who is responsible for deployment? devops? Is it like istio?
What attacks does it prevent against compared to maybe SAST or DAST or IAST tool?
What attacks does waf can't protect against? Where does waf fall short?
How does it monitor network? Now i know its monitors packets based on signatures or patterns and a user can define those rules? But what does it use to create those rules? Regex? Data events? or something else?
Can you do container security with it? How? or why not?
sorry if this is too basic, i'm going through a lot tutorials but it seems nobody can explain in simple way. Most tutorials, documents, blogs have a feel that you already know what a waf is.
Any resources would be helpful. Thanks!

2024.02.18 05:20 smellblj Feedback on this bad boy

Here's a quick mockup for the home/about page for a website I'm designing for my dad, who is an artist. Here's a screenshot of the whole page, and the figma link:
https://www.figma.com/proto/qFaL1IjVL1y75frxQatzmy/Wales'-premier-pop-artist?page-id=0%3A1&type=design&node-id=1-2&viewport=489%2C368%2C0.09&t=ijojqUOuc6wwkqqq-1&scaling=min-zoom&mode=design

It still needs work generally and I also have a few questions:
  1. I am really struggling with the hero section. My original idea was to have the big middle image and curved text only (no small floating pieces), which would break apart to follow the mouse as a parallax animation, but i found that the top section looked really empty. So my newer idea is that the small floating pieces would have a parallax scroll animation instead that would look a little 3D. But I'm struggling to make either idea look right. Is it too busy with the main picture in the middle? Should the "Wales' premier pop artist" tagline be above the fold so that anyone visiting the site knows what it's about straight away? If so, where should it be? Is the curved text ugly? Should i change the font/colour? Open to any suggestions on the hero section!
  2. Someone suggested the 'ransom note' font to me to use for a quote, but i'm not sure if it's too hard to read/if it doesn't fit with the rest and looks random?
  3. General body of the page - does it look right?
  4. Someone also suggested i make a 'wallpaper' from a repeated pattern of cutouts from his work, i have done this and think it looks cool (photo attached below), but i have no idea what to use it for!? Any ideas welcome!
repeated pattern 'wallpaper'
Anything else glaringly obvious to make it look more professional?
Any and all critiques welcome. Thanks!

2024.02.13 17:49 farazon Are devs scared of writing infra?

This comes off the tail of two instances that I’ve just experienced, but I was wondering if they form a part of a broader trend, or maybe they’re just company specific / limited to my personal experience.
Example A: I make a ticket out for some work involving creating new Kubernetes deployments. There’s enough on my plate that the work is handed off to a teammate of mine. Minor ticket, maybe a couple days’ work tops. Rather than scoring it as a quick win as I expected, my teammate ends up working on everything but this ticket, carrying it from sprint to sprint, with the explanation that he spent his time on other (quite legitimate) tasks instead. Eventually, our skip becomes quite aggrieved with this, and under the pressure, the work is finally prioritised and carried to finish.
Example B: This one’s more expansive. I was working on migrating a lift-and-shift cloud deployment of an on-prem Kubernetes app to a cloud native EKS style of things. Lots of stuff needed changes, from adapting ingress from nginx to annotation-driven NLBs to refactoring some of the code to use cloud-native concepts like SQS instead of half-assed homecooked variations.
But the payoff was significant: there are a lot of internal customers for this app, and they frequently complain about issues around its reliability and responsiveness. And there were also significant cost savings to be made as a result, too.
I was looking forward to doing all this, made a PoC, detailed tickets - but I was moved off to another project, so I just handed these over to a sister team of ours. Alas, recently I got pinged that all these tickets were closed off their backlog, putting an end to it all.
I’m genuinely curious: is this a pattern? Does something discourage devs from tackling challenges that involve getting down and dirty with IaC, Terraform, and the like?
In my mind, these were easy wins with outsized impact compared with writing PRs. IME most PRs involve iterative change, whereas infra provides immediate and tangible impact. I can’t understand what would drive my teammates to backlog these tasks that would otherwise give them solid achievements to discuss at their year end review.
For context, we’re all part of an “SRE” umbrella org: I put it in quotation marks because most of us really work around development of monitoring and observability tooling, and only a few are tasked full time with platform/devops or incident response responsibilities. Nevertheless, all of us are expected to have a strong familiarity with and understanding of things like AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform. So I don’t really see it as team members shedding “ancillary” duties in order to focus on their core work, this stuff is part and parcel of the package for us.

2024.01.29 21:06 SilverStalker1 Just passed SA Pro with an 805

Hi all
I put up a post a few hours ago (which I have since deleted) saying I was worried about my exam performance. Anyway, it turns out I passed! I must say that SA Pro was on a different level to the Associate certifications (I have all three). I took my usual approach of:
  1. A course (Cantrill/Maarek)
  2. Tutorial Dojo until 90% +
  3. Write
This approach left me very confident for the Associate exams. They all took on a routine sort of pattern where the answer was obvious. But SA Pro was completely different - I found myself a lot more uncomfortable and had to 'guess' at the best solution far more often. I was certain I had failed around halfway through. There were also several questions which I feel you would only 'know' the answer if you have used the service/function before.
If I were to do it again, I would summarize each service in terms of:

  1. For database type products
    1. Scalability
    2. Migrations (on and off prem)
    3. Backups and DR (same region and across region)
  2. In depth study of :
    1. organizations
    2. direct connect
    3. transit gateways
    4. authorization and authentication
    5. IOT
Thank you to everyone on this forum - one more to go!

2024.01.23 02:03 specialagentredsquir Time to talk about Gary O'Neil

How good is he?
With plenty of footage of him online either, showing off his tactical nous spotting weaknesses in other teams systems/patterns of play and exploiting them, or inspirational team talks, O'Neil seems like a real talent. Having recently appeared on Sky Sport's main event and Monday night football, O'Neil is keen to show off his insight to potential future big club suitors..and why not? His stock has risen quickly, his results speaking for themselves.
With no first team manageriel experience he took over AFC Bournemouth, the bookies favourites to go down last season. Not only did Bournemouth spend the second least on transfers of any team in the prem, they also had the 3rd lowest wage bill.
Here's what other teams around them spent on transfers and their wage bill by comparison.
Bournemouth £23 million - 18th lowest wage bill
Wolves £121.5 million - 15th West Ham £154 millon - 8th Forest £120 million - 12th Fulham £65 million - 17th Everton £78 millon - 10th Leicester £13 million - 11th Leeds £87 million - 16th Southampton £61.7 million - 14th
O'Neil kept Bournemouth up with 4 games left to play finishing 15th. An overachievement and worthy of a nomination for manager of the season.
Next appointment, Wolves. A team in danger of breaching FFP, Wolves sold £150 million worth of players this season so far:
Mattheus Nunes - £55 million Rubin Neves - £50 million Nathan Collins - £23 million Conor Coady - £8 million Jimenez - £6 million Ryan Giles - £5 million Adama Traore - free transfer Joao Mourinho - free transfer Diego Costa - free transfer Concalo Guedes - loan
They brought in: Cunha, £48 million Bellegarde, £13 million Bueno £10 million B.Traire £10 million Gonzalez £5 million Matt Doherty - free
Reducing their wage bill to 16th highest in the league. Wolves sit 11th, on the same points as big spending Newcastle, and only two points behind super spenders Chelsea. With a notable win aganst spurs, and the first team to beat city this season, O'Neils counter attacking style of football has been great to watch and successful too.
He has a way of getting the very best out of players with Hwang, Neto and Cunha all on for having their best ever season in one of Europe's top 5 leagues. With just under half the season left to play, wolves only need to score two more goals to beat last season's goals tally, and four more wins to beat their points tally from last season. It'll be interesting to see where Wolves end up and how O'Neil does.

2024.01.18 17:21 kid_drew Pattern for custom code per customer (polymorphism)

I'm working on an enterprise product that would traditionally be deployed on-prem and customized for the customer's needs. These are very large contracts with lots of customization, training, and support. We're taking a cloud approach instead, but we still need the app to modify its behavior based on complicated business rules. We have achieved some of that through configuration, but a lot of it is just too complicated to do with config at this point. We're small and just need to get customers online as quickly as possible. So we're looking to have small pieces of code that get customized per customer.
The main pieces will be roles/permissions, workflows, and forms.
There are arguments to be made in support of and against this approach. I'm not here looking to debate whether we SHOULD, I'm looking for advice on HOW. What we're thinking is each custometenant will have their own namespace and we will have specific classes that get loaded based on the tenant - ie, polymorphism.
Eg, we might have a class called Customers::Default::Roles::Administrator and Customers::TenantOne::Roles::Administrator. The code will know to load one or the other at runtime based on the tenant.
My question is whether anyone has seen a pattern like this before. This is as complicated as I've ever gotten with any project, and I'd love to see a successful implementation of a pattern like this just to make sure I'm not crazy.
