You start in a snowy village with nothing. Its a medieval setting and you adventure outside the village. I forgot really what happens outside but I remember you in the woods and a castle and you climb it with something. It also had a text narrator. I really can't remember much so I'll put an asterisk* if I'm unsure.

Summary
This game is firmly in the collectathon platformer genre of games and seeks to outright revive the soul of Banjo-Kazooie and extract it into a new body. The fresh coat of paint with all new characters and modern graphical styling is an attempt to distance itself from retro aesthetics while keeping some charming aspects. Gone are the convoluted controls and returning are the random chirping noises for dialog. But is the upgrade from collecting the jiggies to ordering the pagies enough to make this title distinct? The soul of the collectathon is here, lets find out if it was worth the cost of digging it up.Controls
I want to get this out of the way really quick and head off my review here by saying that the controls are good. They aren't amazing but since I'm going to largely be comparing this to games that just had their 25th anniversaries, I think its fair to say that controls are a real highlight for innovation here. With a similar number of buttons to the old N64 titles, we've packed in a lot of moves here and the flow is miles better. They aren't perfect however.My main gripe is just that they seem to have mapped controls in a retro way for nostalgia reasons and it holds the game back. Rather than triggering the moves organically through context, the left trigger is again used as a face button modifier. Jump with A, high jump with LT+A. Sonar ping with Y, Sonar explosion with LT+Y. They didn't need to do that but at least the animations are short to trigger so it isn't too painful.
Characters: What did the evil Bee ever do to you?
Lets talk about characters. This is par for the course if you're talking Banjo-Kazooie parody that the game **NEEDS** strong characters. So does this game have them? I'd argue it does not. It isn't even that I don't find the evil capitalist bee and his duck in a jar henchman to be unlikable, its just that they lack the personality and novelty that BK had. The evil witch in those games wasn't complicated, but the rhyming of their lines and personality really got sold in the dialog. Here you just have throwaway lines galore about money puns. I don't want to say that none of the characters have personality, but its a 7/10 effort for sure.That carriers over throughout the various worlds and main characters themselves. Banjo-Kazooie had a way with its humor of being dumb but delightful fun and really didn't stop you to embellish stupid puns. I won't harp on how I didn't find this game funny, but man when games miss the mark on charm, they really miss it by a mile. Unfortunately that's kind of the case here so don't show up for the characters.
Gameplay: It blends right in
I'll also keep this brief like the controls section. The game is good and the levels are pretty well laid out. They struggle to feel as integrated as BK though in the sense that each pagie is in its own area with its own objects. I remember how BK would use the same large centerpiece snowman for 3 or 4 jiggies, that just isn't here though. So like I said, it ends up feeling like each level is just a bunch of puzzles adjacent to each other, not cohesive at all. The themes really don't help that either as the themes only play into the gameplay of the level half of the time.Graphical Style: It looks like it plays, alright?
The graphics in this game are actually pretty good and the game ran really well during my time with it at 1440p. That makes it a very good game to run on a steam deck and that is how I played about 50% of this game. The colors are bright and vibrant and its just a shame that it isn't more stylized. Believe it or not, I don't think the extreme crispness of the graphics help the game here. If you're especially brave though, there is an N64 graphics mode in the game which is a nice touch and brings in some of that charm.Wrapping this up
Normally I keep my thoughts organized here but I think this game really deserves discussion so here goes. I went into this game expecting for the developers to have really done something with the formula. Lets be honest, this genre died because of a lack of innovation and intrigue. I was very surprised to play this and find that not only had the formula not really grown since the BK days of 1997, but this game had regressed it by quite a bit and I just really had to push through to finish it.The music isn't instantly classic like Banjo-Kazooie, instead it sounds mostly generic. The characters are much the same. BK always had a splash of absurdity but it also always had grounding in its world. Lacking that grounding here is absolutely killer and so each element of this game feels separate. The enemies in BK were always interesting. The obstacles also had personality. Banjo Kazooie had me fighting two dragons on the tops of volcanoes who both thought I was there to deliver them pizza. We never get anywhere close to those heights here sadly. You'll play through this game and without exaggerating I can say that you will wonder why there are even basic level enemies in this game at all.
So what we're left with in Yooka-Laylee is a shell of what these games used to be. That isn't to say this is a bad game. It belongs in the genre 100% and its what the genre is all about. If you love collectathons and you don't want to replay BK games or want a modern version of this, I'll recommend this to you. Most people would have an alright time with this game and especially kids I think would love this if their attention can be kept by it. Those are my thoughts though, the game is decidedly average for me and I wish I could say otherwise. I respect the developers immensely for their work here. It takes a lot of work to even put most of the soul of BK into a game like this and so even if it didn't entirely land for me, I applaud them. Hopefully I feel very differently as I move onto Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair.

I understand that I'll probably gather a lot of downvotes now but I didn't get what I expected from the game and wanted to share some thoughts and get some advice, probably I've played the game wrong way.
UO has so high rated reviews and players ratings that probably my expectations were too high. Actually, I had a lot of fun playing it on tactical difficulty but didn't get enough satisfaction and I don't want to replay it.
+The animations and style are amazing.
+Team building is great.
-Story is weak.
-And tactics is absent.
I'm a big fan of fire emblem games and I understand that this game should not be like them but it really lacks tactics as a TRPG. So everything is static, yes, sometimes enemy units move but actually you can approach them any time from any side you want and hit. There is no battlefield, terrain types, you are safe almost all the time and should not be afraid moving out your units. Result of every fight can be rerolled. If you follow main quest, you are over experienced by the end.
I tried to watch all the fights in the beginning and put a lot of time in team building but after 5-6 hour I just skipped all the fights and played with not optimal teams.
As I see from the forum PvP is really fun mode for many people but that's just team building again and not so interesting for me.
Should I try to play true zenorian or it actually doesn't change a lot and the game can be more difficult, but it still will be too simple?

all of these give unique opportunities, with good maps, maybe the Mediterranean will be set during the Spanish inquisition and the Aztec empire will be then Spain invades mexico, and they will reach India ( the best out of the three) would be good as it offers something reminiscent like revelations, it instead of time periods, its locations, offering the biggest scale story line at one AC game, so big that it has 3 protagonists with 3 play-styles, with three expansive open worlds, this could potentially be the best AC game to date, i am much more hyped than this than AC shadows and AC hexe combined, cant wait

And today I see videos of students from us campuses wearing Palestinian cosplay and imitating Muslim prayers (also super incorrectly, eg. mixed gender, so really just pretending) And some even imitating the accent saying halistine instead of Palestine (Arabic has no P, so they can't pronounce it, it's like making fun of Japanese by swapping Rs and Ls).
I feel like if you would show these people to themselves from 3 years ago they would say they need to be executed for racism, but some how it's fine now I guess? So is cultural probation no longer thing we care about? Or did we never cared about it as much as I thought?

2024.05.16 17:58 myhauntedhill Persisting stuttering/audio problems across PCs
Let me start this off by saying I had a PC custom built way back in January of 2023 and it worked flawlessly up until September of the same year. Eventually, my PC just started dying, I had weird artifacting problems, my resolution would change randomly and I'd get black blocks all over my screens for no reason, and along with this came a strange audio bug where audio would become oddly loud and scratchy(?? I am unsure of how to describe the sound, really, basically when some sort of explosion sound would play from anything, it would get really loud and make a scratchy sound). The worst issue, though, was the stutters. Consistently, every singel game I attempted to play, whether it be as graphically intense as RDR2, or as simply styled as Deep Rock Galactic. I would have horrible stutters happening constantly. I spent months troubleshooting this issue and testing various things, so many countless little adjustments and hardware tests over the months that I can't even begin to document them here. I ended up bringing this PC into multiple professionals, Best Buy, Micro Center (twice), and a local repair store. Every single time, I got my PC back and was told that there were no issues whatsoever. No stuttering or frame drops to be found, audio bug could not be replicated. Eventually, I gave up and made an entire new rig. To my horror, I plugged everything in to discover I am STILL having these horrible stutters and audio bugs. I have asked many people in online discords about these problems and have been through everything, as far as closing every single program and unplugging every peripheral I have on my setup and just running the bare-minimum and I still have the stuttering. I am so confused as to how this issue could possibly persist to a completely new PC, every single component is new, the installation was Win11 is new, even my activation code is new, *everything* is new except for my peripherals. I did replace my main monitor with a brand new one and the issue is still persisting so it's definitely not a monitor-related issue. I would appreciate any kind of help, and any information anyone needs to narrow it down, I am more than willing to fetch for you.
Specs on the new PC are;

(Side note 2, I bought completely new headphones as well just in case it was my headphones causing the audio bug and it was completely unrelated but I still have the same issues)
Right now my finger is pointing at some sort of driver or software related issue, or even some sort of complication with Windows 11, because afaik this new hardware should be perfectly fine, everything seems to be performing fine, I get great fps in my games up until I get the stuttering.

Right now my finger is pointing at some sort of driver or software related issue, or even some sort of complication with Windows 11, because afaik this new hardware should be perfectly fine, everything seems to be performing fine, I get great fps in my games up until I get the stuttering.

 | yo submitted by 4rtf4g to Drastic_Emulator [link] [comments] reddit threads & forum q&a pages are running me in circles. i used to have DraStic on the standard android operating system (on the Anbernic RG405M) but changed over to Gamma OS. everything runs great EXCEPT the one game i need Portrait 1:1 orientation for. before, i had my DraStic “landscape layout rotation” set to “Auto” and my Anbernic “Auto-rotation” set to on. then, when I played Style Boutique (DS) on 1:1 Portrait orientation, it would have each screen, orientated to be next to one another, facing up, as would be ideal on this console. however, when i play on 1:1 Portrait, it now displays the two screens as separate that i have to press a button to flip between (much like the “Landscape Aspect” and “Landscape Fullscreen” orientations). i have wiggled around the settings in different combinations but nothing works. nothing had it like it was before. Our Endgame is enhanced with the use of various plugins, mods, and active staff hosting server events. We have challanging super bosses in the over world that require breeding, capped saddles, cooperation, and dedication to take down. These bosses come in 1 of 3 difficulty tiers and are all very rewarding when completed. We feel these events give players purpose to dedicated breeding and a perfect way to put your max breeds to the ultimate test.
We also host quests with LethalQuests plugin allowing players to engage in thousands of quests for rewards while they play the game, there are progression quests, daily quests, and weekly quests that give you more to do to obtain some exclusive rewards.
We pride ourselves in maintaing a active event schedule with some very fun and rewarding events. Some of the events we host are Capture the flag, Battleship, Ovis soccer, Paintball, downhill doedic derby, ATV races, darts, Escape room, and maze runs. These events all come with participation rewards and bonus rewards and are hosted on a active schedule. Some rewards are exclusive to events and unable to be obtained in any other means.
We welcome you to join us in our server launch party where we will have many giveaways, contests, events, and even a Ark the animated series stream marathon leading into the clusters launch date later this month. I'm trying to write one with a really unusual miraculous. I haven't completely decided, either the powers you get depends on how attached the kwami and the holder are, OR transformation leads to at absolute max a Danny phantom style pallet swap, and usually not even that much, a streak in the hair and a change in eye color.
Basically the ability would be various degrees of reading people and noticing things, from just being good with reading body language to full out aura seeing. (The idea of this is it's from a miraculous that wasn't in a box, and that they'd eventually be able to realize secret identities)
But I don't really have an idea for the animal. The best I got is a axolotl, but I wanted to look for other ideas first.
The animals from the Chinese box are off limits, but feel free to use the animals from other boxes/ magical items (I haven't watched since Marinette told Alya, idk if they made more)
