2024.05.16 02:12 Soggy_Adagio6582 How do you save games to the emulator?

Heyo! I am not sure if there is a way to save games directly to the emulator for load instead of uploading the file each time,
I don't have a Mac to use so I wouldn't be able to do it using the steps they provide.
Anything is appreciated, thank you!

2024.05.16 02:12 lemontuct A few questions from a noob

Been interested in poker for a long time but have always felt intimidated. Last two weeks it’s been my fixation and I really want to be able to walk into a low stakes game confidently in about a month or so. My knowledge is effectively zero but I have been trying to get a grasp of the principals needed for intelligent play and have started by digging deep into pre-flop play. I don’t have any access to home games unfortunately.
  1. The poker room I want to target as my jumping off point is Chasers in Salem, NH. Does anyone have any opinions on it, in terms of what level of play I should expect sitting at a 1-2 table?
  2. With a $300 max buy in, how much cash are you bringing with you? When starting out, is it wise to only buy in once and leave? I have expendable cash and am willing to “pay” to get some experience- I guess I want to know if it is outrageous to blow through $900 in a night when starting out. When should a noob pack it in?
  3. It took me far too long to figure out PokerStars play money isn’t going to teach me anything about real poker. I’ve been trying to find a solid tool that will let me simulate play against a decent (not necessarily GTO) opponent but haven’t found anything that looks useful. GTO Wizard and GTO+ seem far too advanced and not really exactly what I’m looking for. I know with chess there are tons of resources like this that simulate the play of specific rankings- any suggestions?
  4. I know there is a ton of info out there, but so much of it feels too oriented on GTO principles and I’m scared to waste my time on resources that aren’t optimal for going from 0 to 1 in terms of low stakes games. What has felt most useful to me is watching Brad Owen explain his thought process, but I’d really like a resource focused on developing a well-rounded view of the game and is more instructional. Any suggestions? Would consider paywalled stuff as well, looked at Negreanu and Ivey’s Masterclasses but those feel kind of cheesy
  5. I understand slow-rolling is a faux pas, but what exactly is it? Is it just feigning contemplation when you have the nuts/a strong hand? Or is it also “reverse bluffing” where you intentionally disguise the strength of your hand initially through limping/not raising, and ultimately put your opponent in a position where they believe your later betting is in reaction to the turn or river? The latter feels actually strategically useful while the former is objectively just rude. If the latter is also bad, is there a sliding scale where this type of behavior is sometimes allowable?
  6. Any general advice to help me avoid beginner’s mistakes and not look like an asshole is hugely appreciated

2024.05.16 02:06 docheartstealer Is a mini tower a good choice for a first build?

Hi everyone, I'm really wanting to build a PC after being a MacBook user since high school :) I'm really mainly going to use it for work and playing older games that I have (portal, Skyrim, assassin's creed 1-4, sims, etc) and games like genshin impact, Dreamlight valley, etc. I already have a PS5 for AAA games. Here is the parts list I put together. I just wanted to get opinions on if a mini PC is a good idea for a beginner, or should I go with a full size tower? I just don't have a ton of desk space in my tiny apartment. Also, will building in a mini tower make it hard to upgrade in a few years (like when the PS6 would eventually come out...?) to play next gen AAA games? Please let me know if I'm overspending for what I want to use the PC for. Thanks in advance! :)

2024.05.16 01:18 agianttardigrade Advice: M3 Pro and/or 16GB RAM worth it for me?

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro. I use it mainly for work, attached to a 42 inch 4k OLED screen (I work from home). I work in multiple windows at once but just on the one monitor. The most intensive work I do tends to be in excel, which has been struggling lately, and sometimes I use my MacBook for gaming when traveling. I also use ChatGPT a ton to assist and supplement my research and writing.
I was already thinking of an upgrade due to noticing more slowing down for big Excel processing tasks and more intensive tasks, as well as increasing compatibility issues. The announcement that ChatGPT will only release its app (which, again, I will use constantly) for Apple Silicon is pushing me over the edge on the upgrade.
I do need a laptop for meetings and travel, so Mac Mini/iMac isn't a great option for me. With the big monitor and my moderate use, will the MacBook Air M3 with 8GB be enough to get me through the next several years of AI advancements and increased processing needs? Should I upgrade to the MacBook Pro with M3 Pro and/or 16GB of RAM? If I only upgrade one (to the M3 Pro or more RAM), which would you choose?
Thanks a lot for your advice.

2024.05.16 01:13 Las-Vegas-Shows Las Vegas Resorts: A Travel Blogger's Guide

Las Vegas Resorts: A Travel Blogger's Guide
Hello, all you travelers around the world!
Las Vegas Strip
In today's lesson, I will discuss the heart of Vegas. We will visit some of the desert's most beautiful hotels and resorts in Las Vegas. These luxurious resorts offer the best of everything, from high-class luxury to modern forms of entertainment. We will compare these fantastic havens' locations, amenities, features, and experiences.

1. ARIA Resort & Casino

  • Tick: location, location, location! ARIA resort has gorgeous rooms and stellar dining options, and it is smack on the Strip. Check – party animals and other diversions are the game's name here, and you’ll find all of that smack in the Strip, too.
  • Negatives: You will pay more (especially during the high tourist season), and some users note that the hi-tech rooms can be a pain to figure out.

2. Bellagio Las Vegas

  • Pros: Bellagio is a classy place. Everything looks great, from the fountains and layout to the truly high-class casino (with some of the finest art anywhere on the Strip) and the shopping and dining tops.
  • Negatives: It’s expensive, and some rooms are slightly dated compared to newer hostels.

3. Caesars Palace

  • The Pros: Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is an icon and a hub for attractions and activities. The complex's dining, shopping, and entertainment areas are extraordinary, as are the variety of living accommodations offered.
  • The downsides: This immense estate requires a lot of walking, and some rooms have not been upgraded in ages.

4. Fontainebleau Las Vegas

  • Pros: Fontainebleau is the newest resort on the Vegas Strip and has quickly become known for being the highest quality in terms of luxury, entertainment, and fun. It is the premier place in Vegas to experience the newest and best of what a resort offers.
  • Cons: It would be the freshman on the block and would, therefore, have the kinks to work out as operations get underway, in addition to lacking the long-standing reputation of its neighbors.

5. Resorts World Las Vegas

  • Pros: Resort World - this new resort boasts state-of-the-art amenities and a sleek LED façade. You’ll find three different Hilton brands within one building, from ultra-luxury to practical comfort.
  • Cons: The abundance of choice could confound some guests; because its different areas have different service levels, it can sometimes be a mixed experience.

6. Palazzo at The Venetian Resort

  • Pros: Luxury + space = bliss; the suites are enormous and beautifully furnished. The Palazzo has it all under the same roof for dining and shopping.
  • Cons: Like its sister property, The Venetian, the scale can be intimidating, and not every guest believes the service equals the price.

7. The Venetian Resort Las Vegas

  • It certainly looks good: the Venetian’s theme is gorgeous, its poker rooms are among the best in town, and there is always something to eat or do, thanks to an endless supply of restaurants and entertainment. Pros: The Venetian is gorgeous, with some of the best poker rooms and infinite dining and entertainment.
  • Pros: The resort's sheer size is extraordinary, and the abundance of glitzy amenities means that there is almost too much to enjoy in one stay. Cons: Its size can be a deterrent; sharing an entire hotel with The Palazzo can occasionally lead to overcrowded hallways.

8. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

  • Pros: Cosmopolitan - this bright, new, centrally located hotspot remains the young partygoers’ favorite. It has a cosmopolitan edge and a club scene to match. Nearly all rooms have balconies, and some have views of the Bellagio fountains.
  • Cons: It’s the more expensive location, especially for the coveted Boulevard Penthouses, and the vibrant scene isn’t ideal for serenity.

9. Encore & Wynn Las Vegas

  • Pros: Encore and Wynn - these Mediterranean-themed sister resorts are the height of luxury with top-rate facilities, gourmet dining, and A-list entertainment, and they’re consistently at the top of reviews for customer experience.
  • Cons: They are the dearest option in Las Vegas, reflecting their high class.
From the opulent luxury of the Bellagio to the modern sparkle of the Aria, enjoying deluxe perks or just a bit of downtime, every hotel in Las Vegas provides a microcosm of this glittering city. Choosing the right hotel for your Vegas adventures depends on your taste, why you’re in town, and how much you have to spend. So pack your bags and get ready to play in the Entertainment Capital of the World!

2024.05.16 00:56 Genesis_x3 Replaced for my Alienware laptop

So, I got rid of my Alienware gaming laptop for reasons not related to getting an iPad, but when I did, apple had released the news about the m4 pro coming out, so I bit the bullet and bought a 13” pro. I previously had an m2 11” that I regretted selling.
So far I am absolutely loving it. But I do find myself wanting a bit of a desktop experience with it.
I would consider getting a Magic Keyboard, but at the same time, don’t see the value in doing so since I plan on using it as a tablet when not in a desktop mode.
Plus I have my desktop peripherals such as keyboard and mouse.
Anyways. I wanted a bit of advice on desk setups ? I’m looking for recommendations on something that would hold the iPad in a way that would almost make it a monitor while also having a decent amount of ports for things such as Aux / usb and Ethernet.
Anyone using their iPad in a similar way? Thinking about it, it’s quite unfortunate that it doesn’t seem like IPad OS will ever take advantage of this overpowered Chip. Using it in the way I envision would be sick if it ran something closer to MacOS

2024.05.16 00:35 Sh_Islam Upgrade macbook or battery replacement? Should I use mac or switch to windows?

I have a 2019 13 inch, 4 port thunderbolt MacBook pro touchbar. The battery is now down to 80% after about 5 years of usage. Mostly charge doesn’t stay, fan seems to make noise a lot. My wish is I use mac as primary and only device. The university provided me windows laptop where I do use power BI or some windows specific softwares. In the future I wish to use windows inside mac if possible. Possibly thinking of trying some games on mac using Vm. Would it be an ideal choice to upgrade to a new MacBook or change battery and continue? My intel mac still works, but it is super low on specs. Or Should I still keep my mac machine and buy a windows laptop instead? If so, which windows laptop could be suitable for gaming and overall productivity tasks? Specs? Brand suggestion? My concern is software support of particular brand and a good hardware.

2024.05.16 00:28 bustacell YSK Unreal Tournament 1999 runs on modern (operating) systems - and can still be played online!

Why YSK: Despite Unreal Tournament 1999 celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, there are still players who regularly join the online servers. Many former or potential new players might want to join but assume the game won’t run on modern systems and therefore don’t try.
However, thanks to the team at OldUnreal, recent patches are available for UT99 that allow it to run on modern hardware and operating systems like the latest versions of Windows, Linux, and macOS. We need to spread the word to bring more people (back) to the game and ensure it doesn't die out.

2024.05.15 23:23 timmeh129 Upgrading to air M3 — 8gb or 16gb?

So I know this probably gets asked a lot, and I promise I've made some internet research but I really need some personal perspective.
I'm looking at buying a new macbook RN. As I understand my best bet today is the Air M3. So I'm deliberating on whether I should get the 16GB or the base model. I don't have a lot of knowledge about macbooks or how their memory works and stuff so I really have no perspective on these things.
Currently I'm using a 2018 13" Pro (i7 chip, 4 thunderbolts, 8Gb/256Gb). This is my first Mac (windows boi for most of my life), I got it like 4 years ago. I'm using it every single day for work and leisure, so mostly I use google docs, lots of chrome surfing (10-15 tabs), conference calls, youtube/streaming, spotify w/bluetooth speakeheadphones 70% of the time. I also play games occasionally (steam indie stuff) and sometimes do little photo editing in PS. I also sometimes use GarageBand and hook up my guitars to the notebook and do some recording and playing through the mac. For the most part my laptop does fine with this stuff just recently it started to kinda fail on me with occasional extreme heating and lagging.
So all of those things I'm planning to do on a new laptop. Probably the 8GB version will be enough but... I'm really hoping for it to last a while. I mean, A WHILE. I don't want to think about upgrading the thing for 5 years at least. And of course getting a new machine I'd like to have some more possibilities with it, not just the same thing but newer. Currently I don't do anything extreme with my Macbook but its not because I don't wanna, but because I realize that its not capable of something more. So I'd love to have some headspace for stuff I'd possibly get into. Some newer games would be nice. Some better DAW would be nice. Maybe something like easy modeling or design would be nice at some point. Of course I'm realistic about this and I'm not expecting even the 16gig version to run a movie production studio and Baldur's gate 3 at the same time.
So is it worth to spend the extra buck? I'm not in the US dollars and the 16/256/10-core GPU here is like 40% more expensive. I can squeeze out the dime but should I? Realistically, how much better is it?

2024.05.15 23:18 Dont_Need-You Suggestion

Hi, I’m just a student going to enter first uni year. I’ve actually used thinkpad up till now which was like 12GB/1TB. I’m not into gaming or something. Just regular uni work (some documents, books, PDFs, classes, and perhaps streaming music and movies. But still I don’t want it to slow down. I want to buy a latest MacBook and am kinda confused given the diverse options. But I wanna buy something latest. So guys please suggest what option should I go for (PRO or AIR) (what the main difference is and what should it cost me). It should be something from 2023-2024. Please suggest. I’d be grateful.

Mac - Free To Play - Super Confused
Hello All,
A friend has been bugging me to give this game a whirl for awhile. Looks like a lot of fun. But, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get a free account live on my M3 Macbook Pro.
1- Clicked the start a free account
2-Created a FF14 login, no issues.
3-Launcher downloads.
4- Click the launcher and the everything in the attached image happens in the order noted. When I get to MOG, I get a window that has me designate that I'm on a Mac. The next window, my only two options are to pay for the game or enter a license code. Obviously, trying to play for free to give it run first.
Ideas?
Your time is greatly appreciated, Jin

2024.05.15 23:09 djacksonusd Questions about PPSSPP and RetroArch

New to emulation on iOS so I may be asking stupid questions for some. I’m sorry. Just looking for help.
  1. In regard to PPSSPP, I know it runs PSP games. However the directions given through the app are for using a Mac Computer. I have a Windows computer and am using my iPhone. How exactly do I move PSP game files to the app properly, once I find PSP game files to use.
  2. Since I’ve had this issue with Gamma before finding out about its issues with ads, tracking info, etc., how does one save progress on PPSSPP? Just want to make sure I don’t lose my progress.
  3. In regard to RetroArch, does it do anything more than just play arcade machine games? If so, what?
  4. The system on RetroArch is way more in depth than what say Delta is. How do I go about getting RetroArch to work properly? I know the one arcade game I want to get is WWF WrestleFest, which I don’t know if it works or not on, but trying to find out so I can work on getting it set up for future use.
Thanks everyone!

Welcome to DANCING WITH THE STARS: THE PROS' MOST ICONIC QUOTES ✨

A huge thank you to the lovely u/invader_holly who suggested the idea, and that I run this game here! 💕
How does it work?
Each day, I'll reshare this board. With each day is a new pro. Similarly to past games I've done like Dances of the Seasons, The Dancing with the Stars Alphabet, Favourite Dances Per Style, and The Pros' Most Memorable Dances, for every day, you can all comment a response. This time, the response would be a quote from the respective pro for that day! As with previous games, the comment with the most upvotes wins. At the end, I'll put together a video compilation together!
MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU WANT TO SUGGEST NUMEROUS QUOTES, DO THEM EACH IN A SEPERATE COMMENT. THE COMMENT WITH THE MOST UPVOTES WINS AND IS ADDED TO THE BOARD. IF POSSIBLE, PLEASE TRY AND ADD WHEN THE PRO SAYS THE QUOTE (SO I CAN FIND THE CLIP TO ADD TO THE VIDEO COMPILATION).
Yesterday's round was won by u/gottacatchemsome 's suggestion!

2024.05.15 22:42 IrritatedExpert Question about small factor/ recycling parts

Hi everyone!
I'm moving out from my parents to study at university and I want to build myself a new computer in the Fractal design Terra case for the occasion. I'll get a new monitor too, but very similar to my current (Gigabyte G34wqc, buying MO34wqc or equivalent). It's still in a few months so I have time to wait for new generations.
So the real problem here is that I have a good but old build except for my GPU ( here's a pcpartpicker link to it : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8fsTh3) and I want to use this build exclusively for gaming, because I'll have my mac for studies.
For those wondering, I had a really good knowledge in pc and tech in general if we go back 2-3 years. So I know the basics, but I don't know about the new tech.
So I've been wondering witch parts should I change for a decent gaming experience with the monitor I want? (specs : 3440x1440 @ 175hz)
I want to have good graphics, but I don't need to cap the FPS at the 175hz limit of the monitor. 120 to 144hz is just fine for me.
I know that it's a small factor case so I need to change the motherboard, CPU & my ram because it'll be outdated. But it's more about the storage, power and GPU. I want to spent the least amount of money, but I want a good experience and I'm ready to pay what's needed for it.
I want to ear from you guys. What would you do? start from zero? keep everything except the necessary? And I want to ear about what I should do with the Fractal Terra and the monitor choice. Max out CPU or GPU? change the case for another small factor? use a different monitor? Maybe not use OLED because it's too pricy still?
Wanting for all your response and I'll try to be active to your comments even though it's my first time righting on reddit. Thx!

2024.05.15 22:34 dealindespair Help!! Remastered game freezing on campaign map but music still plays (MacBook M3 Pro)

Running on a MacBook Pro M3 Pro that I bought last week, previously played 200+ hours on MacBook M1 no issues.
At first I just thought it was the mod I was using, but it happens with and without mods.
I can only play for 2-5 minutes before the campaign map freezes, the music is still playing, the game is still running but the screen freezes I can click on menus and stuff on the screen (I can hear the sounds of me doing this) even though I can see my mouse move around, but it remains stuck and I have to Command-Option-Escape to desktop.
Sometimes when it freezes large parts of the image on screen turn pixelated pink colored.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game, deleted all the files, I even wiped my computer and started fresh and the same thing keeps happening.
Anyone have any idea?
EDIT: here's a screenshot of what it looked like when it froze the most recent time: https://imgur.com/a/qH6O4zU
