2024.05.16 18:01 Ethereallie13 Enchanter items are underwhelming

Okay so I've been a support main forever and the recent enchanter items suck sort of. I don't know I don't really feel like they do stuff.
I don't know why but usually my first items are either echoes of helia or moonstone or imperial mandate, it's like I've got stuck in previous seasons with mythic items. Anyway the way I understand the items is:
Moonstone is good when there is like AoE damage but it's also good when your alone with someone because then they get the buffed shield/heal instead of chaining to someone else. I feel the item would be better if I could manually switch between these empowered/chaining modes instead of it doing so automatically.
Echoes of Helia - I think early on it's better at healing than moonstone probably if you get 3 stacks with every heal. Plus it has more damage. But playing with echoes first and moonstone first I realized that moonstone is better over all at healing because I don't have to charge it.
Ardent - okay it's good for champs who attack mostly to deal damage. But it's meh, I don't really "feel" the item. Also that 25 magic damage per attack is meh. At the end of the game I think I have maybe 1 k damage with the item, 2 k max and that's pushing it. Honestly I wish they maybe changed ardent to be an active maybe and give a lot more attack speed for like a shorter period or maybe just 6 s but make the cd for it 45 s.
Staff of flowing water - for mages but as with ardent I just don't feel it.
Redemption - I think if I'm just going for healing I go for this item second. It's good if you have a team that likes to dive so you can just place a heal and keep some sort of distance. I guess it's good in other situations as well, had plenty of moments where redemption heals 4 people for like 40% of their hp, I guess moonstone really amplifies it
Mikael Blessing - okay it cleanses cc. I'd rather it give cc immunity for like 1.5 s. Like a small morgana shield.
imperial mandate - it's okay if you have slows and cc. I don't think you can really effectively use this item on sona soraka yuumi, milio. I think janna and nami can use it properly, I'm probably missing some champs.
shurelya - I rarely go for this item and if I do it's probably my last item. I don't get why people go for it first, some people told me that flat ap is good instead of going for moonstone or echoes of helia. Honestly I don't even see this item as an enchanter item now since they removed the passive speed on buffing allies.
dawncore - this is a joke
Honestly my builds are very similar as an enchanter, the itemization is very meh. Why did they remove the antiheal item for enchanters? Also when will mages and enchanters get an anti shield item, I want an enchanter serpents fang. I feel like they should make new supp items. Maybe an active item that negates antiheal for some time. Honestly my opinion is that selfhealing should be nerfed more than healing others. I feel like vlad aatrox, zac etc can easily heal more than soraka. Of course that healing isn't healing others, but they have much more damage than soraka. Like if you pick a healer your trading less team damage for healing while when you pick vlad or something like that you have damage and healing. I think self healing should receive 60% antiheal while the healing for others should be 40% antiheal. I hate ignite on engage supports, it feels like 40% of what I do is just gone. Maybe an another idea is making an active item that reduces damage someone takes by a % for some time, so I can help my adc negate burst.
Anyway what are your thoughts on these items and the general state of enchanters?

Biogaphy Early Life
In 55BC, under a golden sun in the bustling city of Oldtown, Dorian Hightower was born the second son to Lord Leyton Hightower and his wife Leona Bulwer. His early childhood was marked by a sense of curiosity and an inherent noble pride that was expected of a Hightower; against a backdrop filled with the sounds of the bustling harbour, the smell of the sea, and the sight of a forest of sails coming and going. Oft he would watch the ships as they sailed away and wondered where they went
From a young age, Dorian showed a keen interest in learning and the world around him. His education was that expected of one of his lineage; lessons with the Maester were as important as that of his martial education. At just ten, he was sent to Highgarden to squire for House Gardener. There, amidst the vibrant gardens and rich traditions of the Reach, he learned the values of chivalry, honour, and the importance of duty. His time at Highgarden left a lasting impression on him, fostering a deep respect for the knightly traditions that would shape his later life -- which would make the later actions of the Tyrells sting all the more,
At one-and-seven, Dorian’s path took a scholarly turn. Sent to study at the Citadel, immersed in the halls of knowledge, he began forging his maester's chain, dedicating himself to the studies of copper for history, bronze for astronomy, and iron for warcraft. His mentors noted a sharp intellect and strategic mind, qualities that would serve him well in the years to come.
The Heir to the Hightower
In 35 BC, a marriage united Dorian with Leila Tarly, a match both strategic and affectionate. At the age of twnety Dorian became a father, welcoming his first child, Garlan, into the world. Over the years, the Hightower family grew with the births of Garmund, Delena, Owen, and Lynesse. Each child brought new joy and responsibility, shaping Dorian into a devoted father and a wise lord.
The Stranger visited the Hightowers in 20 BC, when Dorian's older brother, Leyton, the heir to the Hightower, was lost in a shipwreck while returning from a journey to Braavos. At five-and-twenty, Dorian was thrust into the role of heir, a position he had not anticipated. Embracing his new responsibilities with determination, he began learning the intricacies of rule, administration, and justice from his father. Living in Oldtown, the heart of the Faith of the Seven, also imparted a deep spiritual awareness in Dorian. The more he learned, the more he was put into positions of authority. Initially undertaking a role as his father's Steward, Dorian learned quickly that he was much too bored by numbers to be anything close to competent. He was better at dealing with people.
Through his dealings his network grew, and this network, he recognised, could be turned toward the flow of information. The ships he had watched as a boy carried trade, but they also carried words from half the world away. If he could find a way to hear those words before any else, he'd have an advantage -- not only in trade, but in politics as well. Setting to work, Dorian used his House's name to tour as often as he could, finding those in key places that would serve his ends for the right price.
Life and Trials
As the head of House Hightower, Dorian instilled in his family a profound sense of fairness and the importance of knightly traditions. He stressed the values of chivalry and gallantry, ensuring that these principles were deeply rooted in the Hightower legacy. His household became known for its adherence to these values, earning respect and admiration throughout the Reach.
He was an avid hunter, frequently organising grand hunting expeditions in the lands surrounding Oldtown. Not merely for sport, these hunts also served as opportunities to bond with his children and vassals. One notable hunt saw Dorian bring down a formidable stag, a feat that became legendary in his household.
Dorian’s daughter Delena married Harlan Tyrell after a secret tryst, a match that Dorian did not initially support but ultimately was forced to accept. His youngest daughter, Lynesse, found a husband in Willem Ryger. A man whom Dorian had mentored in the art of espionage, and who would later go on to prove the most succesful spymaster in the country.
Feasts at the Hightower were grand affairs, known throughout the Reach for their opulence and hospitality. Dorian believed in the power of communal gatherings, often using these occasions to strengthen alliances and resolve disputes. The harvest feast was a particularly notable event, drawing his vassals to Oldtown to celebrate the bounty of the land, and to reaffirm their loyalty to House Hightower.
From the Ashes:
Family life, however, was not without its hardships, and the Hightowers not immune to tragedy. The House faced a profound loss when Garlan, Dorian's eldest son, was killed on the Field of Fire, turned to ash by dragonfire. This tragedy left Garlan's young son, Gwayne, as Dorian's heir, a heavy burden for the grieving boy to bear at such a young age. By then Dorian was a man nearing his sixtieth decade, not young by any stretch, and so particularly attension was paid to Gwayne's education near to the exclusion of all else. A small army of learned men were brought in to cover every aspect that would eventually be required of him. Dorian hardly went anywhere without his grandson in tow. The Seven Kingdoms might have been united, but the dawn of this new age was eclipsed by Dorian's fears that he would pass before his heir was ready, and he had known many a House felled by the poorly equipped.
Dorian levied from Lord Hightower against House Costayne of having refused the call to rally at Oldtown, backed by the word of the High Septon. A host marched on Three Towers but was met with denial from Lord Costayne who eventually demanded a trial by combat. Gyles Gardener offered himself as champion, and for his victory was given rule over Three Towers, with the fallen lord’s kin being exiled to Essos. Aegon Targaryen was crowned in the Starry Sept upon their return.
In 8AC, a band of sellswords by the name of the Black Roses arrived in Oldtown, headed up by Harlon Costayne, offering cheap mercenaries for the city and protection for its trade. Dorian put to them a challenge, a trial by combat to determine if the Seven stood with the Roses. Pit against a knight of Oldtown, the Black Roses emerged the victorious party, and Dorian issued them leave to remain so long as they served the Reach and her interests.
25AC
Life is a loan, and eventually all men's accounts are settled in full. Having passed into his eightieth year, Dorian Hightower knows the end is nearing for him. Age wracks his body, though his mind remains sharp. He has prepared his grandson as best as he could have done, and all that remains is the wait until his last, content in the knowledge. For the first time in a decade, the Lord of the Hightower has descended from his perch and travels towards King's Landing.

Biography:
Born in 5BC, the firstborn son to Garlan Hightower, Gwayne was bathed in a viridescent light, anointed with the seven oils and named in the rainbow of light that filled the sept in the Hightower. This act alone is reserved for the heirs to the Hightower, a ceremony to mark them from birth as defenders of the Faith. His early life was a happy one, though he recalls little of the time. His mother and father were truly in love. Only two years later after his birth would his brother follow, and their two sisters after them. His grandfather's hall and hearth was filled with the laughter of children.
It was Garlan Hightower who held command of the Hightower host the fateful day that dragonfire swept across the Field of Fire, who perished there on the field, and whose bones were turned to ash and no longer able to be laid to rest. Gwayne was too young to grasp the reality of it, and before long his Grandfather had him learning with such intensity that he hardly had time to process the fact his father wasn't coming home.
Life turned into a steady routine of learning. His lessons consisted of how to act at court, his histories, his number and letters, and martial training in the yard. He would be woken before the dawn and not be permitted to bed until the sun had slipped away and night had fallen. Recklessly bold, oft he would attempt to climb the exterior of the Hightower and be scolded for the act if discovered.
His first true test at arms came when in the form of pirates. They had made their home in a cove and would strike out at ships fat and ripe with goods. Gwayne rode out with a small band of men, headed up by his uncle, Owen. For a week they scoured the coastline looking for signs of their quarry, and eventually, one night, sky unclouded and stars bright, they saw the fires. Come the dawn the charge of the Reachmen sent the pirates srambling for their weapons, and though they put up a fight, they were cut down to a man and their ships burned. Of those that surrendered, they would hang at the port in Oldtown as a stark reminder. For his bravery Gwayne was given their Valyrian Steel sword, Vigilance, upon his return.
He would seek out his glory in the lists after that, travelling the length of the Seven Kingdoms looking to make his name as a knight. Tourney followed tourney, but at each stop he remembered to paya visit to the local Sept and offer prayer. He lent a hand where he could. Sometimes he found friends, sometimes he found foe.
When the Orphans of the Fire descended on the Reach, Gwayne wished to march out and chase them down, but Dorian refused him -- and as well he did, for the chaos wrought by the Orphans might have claimed him, and Dorian was adamant that he would not lose another heir to fire. The inaction rankled at Gwayne, but he heeded his grandfather's words all the same.
Now, in 25AC, with Dorian ailing and a celebration called, Gwayne travels toward the event and prepares himself for what may come.

  • Over 70% of Canadian institutions do not keep track of student deaths or attempted suicides.
  • Since the pandemic, mental health and suicide are becoming concerns on campuses for postsecondary education.
  • Universities place a high focus on mental health, with many highlighting the rise in counselling.
Over 70% of Canadian institutions do not keep track of student deaths or attempted suicides, according to a CBC News exclusive investigation. It is challenging to gauge the scope of the problem due to this lack of information.
The research sought data for the previous five years from 52 of the biggest universities in the nation to determine whether they keep track of suicide deaths as well as suicide attempts. Of the 24 schools that did not track, only six gave CBC the actual numbers. Five other schools responded to the request but did not address the tracking question. Five more schools stated they track medical incidents but not always suicide.

Student suicides

Since precise data helps academics develop “novel innovative tools” for suicide prevention and gives schools a greater understanding of the efficacy of their mental health programs, experts argue that knowledge truly is power. Since the pandemic, mental health and suicide are becoming concerns on campuses for postsecondary education.
According to a September 2022 assessment released by the Mental Health Commission of Canada and the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations, three-quarters of students had negative effects from the epidemic for three years in a row. Additionally, pupils from marginalized backgrounds and younger children are more vulnerable.
Universities place a high focus on mental health, with many highlighting the rise in counseling and other services over the past few years. However, some schools have difficulties gathering accurate statistics because, for example, the majority of their students commute, or their student bodies are too small. Due to privacy issues, 18 out of the 52 schools said they were unable to track or disclose data on student suicides.
The difficulties of getting institutional recognition for student suicides were faced by institutional of Waterloo student Andrea Howell. Her family was willing to grieve, but the institution didn’t want to talk about what had happened.
In order to better inform choices about public health, Howell encouraged the Ontario Office of the Chief Coroner to include a “student” category for suicides. Four years after it was made, the modification became enforceable in 2023. Coroners in British Columbia and Quebec do not keep a systematic record of suicides by post-secondary students. Howell expects that the data will inspire more decisions on public health in the future.

2024.05.16 17:38 Sheeker389 [5e][Online] Desert exploration filling in

A player left the game, and we have 3 players now, a Bat Rogue (Swashbuckler), a Fighter (Champion), and a custom class caster. Need a 4th player. If you are interested in this after reading it all send me a message.
When: Saturdays 5 PM CEST/GMT+2
Level: 6 (one level up so far)
Character creation: 27 point buy, all classes and specs, anthropomorphic races (PDF for that will provided), 2000 gold to spend as you see fit (though depending on how we decide you come in you may get the items later, note that there will be no place to buy this stuff, so don't hoard it). You can also choose a clan instead of a race. Clans are major political players and provide their own stats and features.
Story: The players were heading into the desert to discover relics of a proposed ancient civilization. Your character would come in around there. Currently there's only really two ways for you to come in. Either you're also an explorer who came here, but are now stuck due to the desert taking its toll, or you were with some pirates and were left in this ancient abandoned city, or maybe you escaped from them, but you know where their cove is. The setting is heavily inspired by ATLA and Kung Fu Panda, with some other stuff mixed in. Very fantasy Chinese (though only one PC actually has a Chinese name, go figure).

Believe in yourself and good things will start happening.
Your mind is a “thought factory”. It’s a busy factory, producing countless of thoughts in one day.
A lesson that I learned from a book called “The Magic Of Thinking Big”.
Production in your thought factory is under the charge of two foremen. One of whom we will call Mr. Triumph and the other is named Mr. Defeat.
Mr. Triumph is in charge of curating positive thinking. He is the one who produces why you can, why you will, and why you’re qualified.
Mr. Defeat is in charge of producing your negative thoughts. He is the one who develops reasons why you can’t, why you’re not enough, why you’re weak, and much more.
Here’s a quick exercise that you can try today. Tell yourself “today is an amazing day” and evaluate what your behaviour patterns look like.
Then the next day, try saying “today is a bad day” in the morning and see how it will negatively affect you.
Never let your thoughts create a negative mindset. Try to always stay positive, even if the situation seems impossible to get through.

2024.05.16 17:23 TruNorth556 At one time our leaders in the west took the threat of nuclear conflict seriously. Now we have Biden tossing around regime change and European allies escalating recklessly.

As a side note, it takes you back to a bygone era. When American leaders were larger than life figures. Powerful men, who for whatever their faults were, cared about the country and its future. Today we have feckless dotards with soy hipster handlers.
Professor Woodrow Wilson once said that every man sent out from a university should be a man of his nation as well as a man of his time, and I am confident that the men and women who carry the honor of graduating from this institution will continue to give from their lives, from their talents, a high measure of public service and public support.
"There are few earthly things more beautiful than a university," wrote John Masefield in his tribute to English universities--and his words are equally true today. He did not refer to spires and towers, to campus greens and ivied walls. He admired the splendid beauty of the university, he said, because it was "a place where those who hate ignorance may strive to know, where those who perceive truth may strive to make others see."
I have, therefore, chosen this time and this place to discuss a topic on which ignorance too often abounds and the truth is too rarely perceived--yet it is the most important topic on earth: world peace.
What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children--not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women--not merely peace in our time but peace for all time.
I speak of peace because of the new face of war. Total war makes no sense in an age when great powers can maintain large and relatively invulnerable nuclear forces and refuse to surrender without resort to those forces. It makes no sense in an age when a single nuclear weapon contains almost ten times the explosive force delivered by all the allied air forces in the Second World War. It makes no sense in an age when the deadly poisons produced by a nuclear exchange would be carried by wind and water and soil and seed to the far corners of the globe and to generations yet unborn.
Today the expenditure of billions of dollars every year on weapons acquired for the purpose of making sure we never need to use them is essential to keeping the peace. But surely the acquisition of such idle stockpiles--which can only destroy and never create--is not the only, much less the most efficient, means of assuring peace.
I speak of peace, therefore, as the necessary rational end of rational men. I realize that the pursuit of peace is not as dramatic as the pursuit of war--and frequently the words of the pursuer fall on deaf ears. But we have no more urgent task.
Some say that it is useless to speak of world peace or world law or world disarmament--and that it will be useless until the leaders of the Soviet Union adopt a more enlightened attitude. I hope they do. I believe we can help them do it. But I also believe that we must reexamine our own attitude--as individuals and as a Nation--for our attitude is as essential as theirs. And every graduate of this school, every thoughtful citizen who despairs of war and wishes to bring peace, should begin by looking inward--by examining his own attitude toward the possibilities of peace, toward the Soviet Union, toward the course of the cold war and toward freedom and peace here at home.
First: Let us examine our attitude toward peace itself. Too many of us think it is impossible. Too many think it unreal. But that is a dangerous, defeatist belief. It leads to the conclusion that war is inevitable--that mankind is doomed--that we are gripped by forces we cannot control.
We need not accept that view. Our problems are manmade--therefore, they can be solved by man. And man can be as big as he wants. No problem of human destiny is beyond human beings. Man's reason and spirit have often solved the seemingly unsolvable--and we believe they can do it again.
I am not referring to the absolute, infinite concept of peace and good will of which some fantasies and fanatics dream. I do not deny the value of hopes and dreams but we merely invite discouragement and incredulity by making that our only and immediate goal.
Let us focus instead on a more practical, more attainable peace-- based not on a sudden revolution in human nature but on a gradual evolution in human institutions--on a series of concrete actions and effective agreements which are in the interest of all concerned. There is no single, simple key to this peace--no grand or magic formula to be adopted by one or two powers. Genuine peace must be the product of many nations, the sum of many acts. It must be dynamic, not static, changing to meet the challenge of each new generation. For peace is a process--a way of solving problems.
With such a peace, there will still be quarrels and conflicting interests, as there are within families and nations. World peace, like community peace, does not require that each man love his neighbor--it requires only that they live together in mutual tolerance, submitting their disputes to a just and peaceful settlement. And history teaches us that enmities between nations, as between individuals, do not last forever. However fixed our likes and dislikes may seem, the tide of time and events will often bring surprising changes in the relations between nations and neighbors.
So let us persevere. Peace need not be impracticable, and war need not be inevitable. By defining our goal more clearly, by making it seem more manageable and less remote, we can help all peoples to see it, to draw hope from it, and to move irresistibly toward it.
Second: Let us reexamine our attitude toward the Soviet Union. It is discouraging to think that their leaders may actually believe what their propagandists write. It is discouraging to read a recent authoritative Soviet text on Military Strategy and find, on page after page, wholly baseless and incredible claims--such as the allegation that "American imperialist circles are preparing to unleash different types of wars . . . that there is a very real threat of a preventive war being unleashed by American imperialists against the Soviet Union . . . [and that] the political aims of the American imperialists are to enslave economically and politically the European and other capitalist countries . . . [and] to achieve world domination . . . by means of aggressive wars."
Truly, as it was written long ago: "The wicked flee when no man pursueth." Yet it is sad to read these Soviet statements--to realize the extent of the gulf between us. But it is also a warning--a warning to the American people not to fall into the same trap as the Soviets, not to see only a distorted and desperate view of the other side, not to see conflict as inevitable, accommodation as impossible, and communication as nothing more than an exchange of threats.
No government or social system is so evil that its people must be considered as lacking in virtue. As Americans, we find communism profoundly repugnant as a negation of personal freedom and dignity. But we can still hail the Russian people for their many achievements--in science and space, in economic and industrial growth, in culture and in acts of courage.
Among the many traits the peoples of our two countries have in common, none is stronger than our mutual abhorrence of war. Almost unique among the major world powers, we have never been at war with each other. And no nation in the history of battle ever suffered more than the Soviet Union suffered in the course of the Second World War. At least 20 million lost their lives. Countless millions of homes and farms were burned or sacked. A third of the nation's territory, including nearly two thirds of its industrial base, was turned into a wasteland--a loss equivalent to the devastation of this country east of Chicago.
Today, should total war ever break out again--no matter how--our two countries would become the primary targets. It is an ironic but accurate fact that the two strongest powers are the two in the most danger of devastation. All we have built, all we have worked for, would be destroyed in the first 24 hours. And even in the cold war, which brings burdens and dangers to so many nations, including this Nation's closest allies--our two countries bear the heaviest burdens. For we are both devoting massive sums of money to weapons that could be better devoted to combating ignorance, poverty, and disease. We are both caught up in a vicious and dangerous cycle in which suspicion on one side breeds suspicion on the other, and new weapons beget counterweapons.
In short, both the United States and its allies, and the Soviet Union and its allies, have a mutually deep interest in a just and genuine peace and in halting the arms race. Agreements to this end are in the interests of the Soviet Union as well as ours--and even the most hostile nations can be relied upon to accept and keep those treaty obligations, and only those treaty obligations, which are in their own interest.
So, let us not be blind to our differences--but let us also direct attention to our common interests and to the means by which those differences can be resolved. And if we cannot end now our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity. For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal.
Third: Let us reexamine our attitude toward the cold war, remembering that we are not engaged in a debate, seeking to pile up debating points. We are not here distributing blame or pointing the finger of judgment. We must deal with the world as it is, and not as it might have been had the history of the last 18 years been different.
We must, therefore, persevere in the search for peace in the hope that constructive changes within the Communist bloc might bring within reach solutions which now seem beyond us. We must conduct our affairs in such a way that it becomes in the Communists' interest to agree on a genuine peace. Above all, while defending our own vital interests, nuclear powers must avert those confrontations which bring an adversary to a choice of either a humiliating retreat or a nuclear war. To adopt that kind of course in the nuclear age would be evidence only of the bankruptcy of our policy--or of a collective death-wish for the world.
To secure these ends, America's weapons are nonprovocative, carefully controlled, designed to deter, and capable of selective use. Our military forces are committed to peace and disciplined in self- restraint. Our diplomats are instructed to avoid unnecessary irritants and purely rhetorical hostility.
For we can seek a relaxation of tension without relaxing our guard. And, for our part, we do not need to use threats to prove that we are resolute. We do not need to jam foreign broadcasts out of fear our faith will be eroded. We are unwilling to impose our system on any unwilling people--but we are willing and able to engage in peaceful competition with any people on earth.
Meanwhile, we seek to strengthen the United Nations, to help solve its financial problems, to make it a more effective instrument for peace, to develop it into a genuine world security system--a system capable of resolving disputes on the basis of law, of insuring the security of the large and the small, and of creating conditions under which arms can finally be abolished.
At the same time we seek to keep peace inside the non-Communist world, where many nations, all of them our friends, are divided over issues which weaken Western unity, which invite Communist intervention or which threaten to erupt into war. Our efforts in West New Guinea, in the Congo, in the Middle East, and in the Indian subcontinent, have been persistent and patient despite criticism from both sides. We have also tried to set an example for others--by seeking to adjust small but significant differences with our own closest neighbors in Mexico and in Canada.
Speaking of other nations, I wish to make one point clear. We are bound to many nations by alliances. Those alliances exist because our concern and theirs substantially overlap. Our commitment to defend Western Europe and West Berlin, for example, stands undiminished because of the identity of our vital interests. The United States will make no deal with the Soviet Union at the expense of other nations and other peoples, not merely because they are our partners, but also because their interests and ours converge.
Our interests converge, however, not only in defending the frontiers of freedom, but in pursuing the paths of peace. It is our hope-- and the purpose of allied policies--to convince the Soviet Union that she, too, should let each nation choose its own future, so long as that choice does not interfere with the choices of others. The Communist drive to impose their political and economic system on others is the primary cause of world tension today. For there can be no doubt that, if all nations could refrain from interfering in the self-determination of others, the peace would be much more assured.
This will require a new effort to achieve world law--a new context for world discussions. It will require increased understanding between the Soviets and ourselves. And increased understanding will require increased contact and communication. One step in this direction is the proposed arrangement for a direct line between Moscow and Washington, to avoid on each side the dangerous delays, misunderstandings, and misreadings of the other's actions which might occur at a time of crisis.
We have also been talking in Geneva about the other first-step measures of arms control designed to limit the intensity of the arms race and to reduce the risks of accidental war. Our primary long range interest in Geneva, however, is general and complete disarmament-- designed to take place by stages, permitting parallel political developments to build the new institutions of peace which would take the place of arms. The pursuit of disarmament has been an effort of this Government since the 1920's. It has been urgently sought by the past three administrations. And however dim the prospects may be today, we intend to continue this effort--to continue it in order that all countries, including our own, can better grasp what the problems and possibilities of disarmament are.
The one major area of these negotiations where the end is in sight, yet where a fresh start is badly needed, is in a treaty to outlaw nuclear tests. The conclusion of such a treaty, so near and yet so far, would check the spiraling arms race in one of its most dangerous areas. It would place the nuclear powers in a position to deal more effectively with one of the greatest hazards which man faces in 1963, the further spread of nuclear arms. It would increase our security--it would decrease the prospects of war. Surely this goal is sufficiently important to require our steady pursuit, yielding neither to the temptation to give up the whole effort nor the temptation to give up our insistence on vital and responsible safeguards.
I am taking this opportunity, therefore, to announce two important decisions in this regard.
First: Chairman Khrushchev, Prime Minister Macmillan, and I have agreed that high-level discussions will shortly begin in Moscow looking toward early agreement on a comprehensive test ban treaty. Our hopes must be tempered with the caution of history--but with our hopes go the hopes of all mankind.
Second: To make clear our good faith and solemn convictions on the matter, I now declare that the United States does not propose to conduct nuclear tests in the atmosphere so long as other states do not do so. We will not be the first to resume. Such a declaration is no substitute for a formal binding treaty, but I hope it will help us achieve one. Nor would such a treaty be a substitute for disarmament, but I hope it will help us achieve it.
Finally, my fellow Americans, let us examine our attitude toward peace and freedom here at home. The quality and spirit of our own society must justify and support our efforts abroad. We must show it in the dedication of our own lives--as many of you who are graduating today will have a unique opportunity to do, by serving without pay in the Peace Corps abroad or in the proposed National Service Corps here at home.
But wherever we are, we must all, in our daily lives, live up to the age-old faith that peace and freedom walk together. In too many of our cities today, the peace is not secure because the freedom is incomplete.
It is the responsibility of the executive branch at all levels of government--local, State, and National--to provide and protect that freedom for all of our citizens by all means within their authority. It is the responsibility of the legislative branch at all levels, wherever that authority is not now adequate, to make it adequate. And it is the responsibility of all citizens in all sections of this country to respect the rights of all others and to respect the law of the land.
All this is not unrelated to world peace. "When a man's ways please the Lord," the Scriptures tell us, "he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him." And is not peace, in the last analysis, basically a matter of human rights--the right to live out our lives without fear of devastation--the right to breathe air as nature provided it--the right of future generations to a healthy existence?
While we proceed to safeguard our national interests, let us also safeguard human interests. And the elimination of war and arms is clearly in the interest of both. No treaty, however much it may be to the advantage of all, however tightly it may be worded, can provide absolute security against the risks of deception and evasion. But it can--if it is sufficiently effective in its enforcement and if it is sufficiently in the interests of its signers--offer far more security and far fewer risks than an unabated, uncontrolled, unpredictable arms race.
The United States, as the world knows, will never start a war. We do not want a war. We do not now expect a war. This generation of Americans has already had enough--more than enough--of war and hate and oppression. We shall be prepared if others wish it. We shall be alert to try to stop it. But we shall also do our part to build a world of peace where the weak are safe and the strong are just. We are not helpless before that task or hopeless of its success. Confident and unafraid, we labor on--not toward a strategy of annihilation but toward a strategy of peace.

2024.05.16 17:17 aguynamedsly I can't seem to cope with my experiences, can anyone provide guidance?

Well, here I am. I've avoided sharing this for over a year, but I'm finding myself trapped - even though it seems like the strangeness has ended or gone covert - I can't seem to get past the experiences I had last year. I've held this all in since then, and it has to come out somehow.
It's really long. TLDR at the bottom.
February 2023
I picked a foolish battle with my employer - a large corporation known for poor ethics, corruption and crony capitalism. I went after them hard, determined to expose their wrongdoing, and got other ex-employees involved too. We went to the media, appeared on podcasts, but I was the one who took it too far. I flew too close to the sun and got myself in deep. My juvenile attempt at being some kind of brave robin hood hero got my colleagues and I tormented by private investigators. Everyone got followed, but only two of us seemed to have anomalous experiences, and I got the worst of it. They left my friends alone when they realized I was the one facillitating everything.
After being tailed home at 4am one morning, I immediately bought security cameras and set them up. You'd think I would've got the message and backed off, but I was angry over my privacy being invaded, and felt security with the support of my colleagues. I was determined to defend what I believed in, and I resented their brazen harassment and intimidation; it was clear they didn't mind using resources to spy on me. Maybe I shouldn't have spied on them.
There's a whole lot more to that nightmare, but I'm not posting this on whistleblowers; I'm here for a reason. Because I can't think of anywhere else to get the answers I'm seeking. I need help, and I want to talk to experiencers who can help me make sense of what happened, hell, I'll even settle for advice on moving forward, and getting the past shit out of my head.
March
I started noticing anomalies on the cameras I set up. It was strange and got my attention, but very subtle at first; it was more confusing than anything. I should mention my lifelong interest in aliens and UAP, quite literally as long as I can remember; but that interest dwindled after my teen years. I'm almost 30 and have real life shit to worry about, clearly.
Not even a month later, things were getting weird. I saw orbs split in two and three, merge back together and go right through solid objects. Right in front of my house. This kind of activity began happening more frequently (or I became more aware), until one night I noticed a drone-like object following my car. I went home, and sure enough, it stopped over the street in front of my house. I realized this must be something supernatural, as it was similar strangeness to what I saw on my cameras. Splitting apart, dramatic color shifts, and just plain bizarreness.
I left for work the next morning, it was still dark, and the orb was still following me from a distance; it wasn't too close, but it definitely wasn't far either - it just seemed like it was continuosly locked onto me. By this point, I'm getting concerned, and as a heroic whistleblower committed to getting to the bottom of anything and everything, I investigated. I realized these things really were following me. So I started documenting. They would come out of nowhere and into my field of view. I'd be laying in bed, watching TV, and an orb would float between a small gap in the curtains where it was obvious and I couldn't ignore it. I remember feeling disoriented if I stared at it too long.
By now I'm pretty worried about these ongoing events, but my curious cosmic side was intrigued. I didn't like what was happening, but I definitely found it fascinating and kind of cool. So I filmed. Every single day. I was followed by strange lights for six months straight, and it wasn't only happening at night.
I started seeing figures of light beings outside my house. Gray-type beings that looked like they were using magic or casting spells. I had never considered or believed in beings like this. I didn't really believe in demons, but that's the closest thing I can describe them as, like shapeshifting Jinn. But multiple types of entities, my house became a hotspot for strangeness I couldn't even fathom.
Many of the beings I filmed I noticed later when analyzing my videos. I would be filming one anomaly, focused on that, completely unaware of any activity right next to me. But I got better at picking them out over time. I was committed to studying my videos over and over, trying different color levels, shadows and contrast to better pick out the anomalies.
August
By now I had taken hundreds of videos on both my iPhone and security cams. I learned that my iPhone 14 had trouble capturing these things, even when they were stationary or nearby. My camera struggled to focus, and when I tried zooming in on an orb or entity, it would shoot my camera out of focus. I have some pretty cool shots of this happening. Whatever it was, it probably didn't care to be filmed. It was far too difficult to get a good shot. I have a solid phone model and was shooting in 4K; I would get a clear image, then try to focus on orbs/NHI, but end up with glitchy artifacts and static noise in my videos
I'll never forget the feelings and emotions I felt the next month. I was looking back at videos from April, and I found something I hadn't noticed from April 26-28. It looked like I was abducted. I filmed what looked like an arm come down from the trees, and it appeared to take me, or maybe take my 'astral' body? Then half of a gray's face briefly appeared in frame; it looks like the Gray on the cover of Communion.
The next video on my phone I didn't remember taking. Mere minutes later, it looks like I'm approaching a door I've never seen in my life, and my body goes right through it. Then I'm back in my house. Its a short three second clip, but it was definitive proof to me that I experienced high strangness, I just couldn't understand why. I still can't get it out of my head. Since then I've gone back and found more anomalies I had never noticed, and I'm really struggling with making sense of what may have happened. I don't get spooked easily, but I can't come to grips with this; I feel like I've been victimized, and I'm honestly traumatized just off the videos I took. I have no recollection of being taken or anything traumatizing happening. All I have to go off is what I captured, and the feelings I get every night when I go to sleep.
The blatant strangeness slowed down and had seemingly stopped by October, shortly after I retired from my whistleblower antics. The effects of whatever happened are with me every day. I think about it every day and night and fear it coming back. I wish I could have some level of closure, even if it isn't realistic.
Somebody here can help me. I'm certain the right person can make some degree of sense of the videos, and even a little bit of clarity would go a long way for me. What's more likely? Negative NHI harassing me for exposing corporate wrongdoing, or any NHI all of a sudden taking an interest in my everyday life? Is it possible for someone to weaponize paranormal forces against you? I truly don't know. I'm not satisfied with any of those possibilities.
The biggest thing I've grappled with is understanding the origins. Is it negative NHI being used against me? Could it be nefarious humans using advanced technology against me? Psychotronic weapons? How can you even differentiate?! I just can't tell. If you're an experiencer with an open mind and educated in different types of beings, please have a chat with me and look over my videos. I'd post them here but my house and my neighbors homes are visible in most of them. If you're just interested and want to take a look, I'll share a drive link with anyone, I just don't feel right posting these publicly yet.
TLDR;
Potentially harassed by negative NHI or advanced tech. Both are equally terrifying to me. Can't understand how or why this would happen. I'm seeking other experiencers with knowledge on different types of high strangess, anomolous beings/interdimensionals.
Need guidance on moving forward if I can't find answers.
I have a bad feeling that somehow people did this to me. I really want to know if thats even possible. Thank you for reading :)

2024.05.16 17:01 Virtual_Mud7741 Is it really realistic to earn 5million-13million for a beauty brand that just started like 2 years ago? (Rosmar)

Hello everyone! I am currently a business student and just purely curious. I would be happy to learn and understand things so feel free to share your thoughts. Positive or negative. Let me learn from you respectfully.
I saw this article where this Rosmar (I don't know much about her honestly as I don't watch local TV or use any socmed that much) claimed in an interview with Toni that she earns 5M-13M in a DAY. Let me repeat in a DAY. Sounds inspiring and stuff like that bla bla but something feels off.
In my personal perspective, I am crazy with beauty products, focus on skincare (I don't wear make up that much). I am avid buyer online in different platforms and apps on my phone and its my ritual whenever I visit malls to check out Watsons/Sm Dept/Rustans, etc.
First, I don't know her brand (not aware?) and it doesn't look reliable to me. I don't even see it at malls that much or maybe an independent store or any presence like how Avon is marketed. Even in trusted online store like Sephora ph, BeautyMNL, beautyshopph, or even in watsons online, I don't see it? It's in Shopee and Lazada though but I dont fully trust products there with usually no FDA approval. I do use those apps a lot for different products coz it's cheap. So, overall, her brand doesn't have that solid exposure in the general public to be a household name that you can assume can cater a big number of consumers. Other than cringe reels of hers I see time to time when i scroll in youtube randomly, that's it. Even commercials? Or billboards (maybe I'm just not aware because I don't go out that much)
Second, the timeframe. Based on the things I read, in average, a good managed started up company can possibly earn millions in 3-5years, lots of factors, it varries. I only heard her name around after pandemic, with the economic issues the country have previously. If she say a million in a couple of months, maybe I'll believe it like 30% but does her company export outside that big to say that?
Third, her house is extravagant indeed with sport cars she boasts but the way she act and how she organised her household, it kinda gives me the feels of somebody who won lotto one day and just picked up a random mansion. Her mannerisms and the way she speaks is off. She doesnt even give a nepo baby vibes with rich parents as well or i just dont know. Successful hardworking CEOs stories that I see choose to customised and build their house on their own and you can feel how aura of someone who put their blood and sweat on their business. Forgive me if I'm judgmental but she doesn't sound like someone skillful by experience. I used to watched OFW stories who didn't have education and yet through practical skills they can specifically explain how they expanded their business. But in her shoes, it's like magic and like it just boomed one day.
I heard she stuff lots of cash in her house as well and she buy big things in cash. Now that's really suspicious to me. Someone rich would rather put it in a bank and pay in cheque for super big purchase.
To all struggling business owners out there. I salute you. I aspire to build my own in the near future too but I'm pretty sure it's a journey of trial and error and lots of never giving up. Cheers!

2024.05.16 16:52 No_Direction4777 The Hermes Drama and Beyond - Perspective from a Greek Player

Good morning my witches and wizards.
I'd like to inject some very niche nuance into the discussion surrounding Supergiant's presentation of the Greek Gods in Hades 1 and 2. This will post will be a little long, but I believe context will be helpful when explaining my argument. If you need to get back to kicking [REDACTED]'s ass ASAP, there's a TLDR at the bottom.
I will preface this by saying Hades 2 may be my favorite game of all time, beating out the first by a wide margin (despite me logging over a hundred hours in the original). I've followed Supergiant since the original release of Bastion, played each of their games extensively, and I think I have a passable understanding of the studio's vision. As a result, I view their design choices in good faith.
That being said, I have a few very minor concerns. While they are nowhere near enough to sour the experience for me, I would like to express the thoughts that have been banging around in my head. Spoilers below.
Table of Contents
  1. Why do you care?
  2. What's your problem?
  3. What does your smelly uncle have to do with this?
  4. Giving props for the small details.

1 - Why do you care?

For context, I am a Greek man who was the first generation born and raised in the United States. Greek was my first language, I was raised by a Greek community, and I've been heavily involved in our customs since birth. While many people think ancient culture is completely disconnected from modern Greek beliefs, this is inaccurate. No, I don't pray to a shrine of Poseidon when I go fishing. However, many of the stories, beliefs, and morals that were described by the ancient Greek pantheon remained key parts of our culture throughout the transition into modernity.
For example, a common theme in ancient Greek mythology is that of a god secretly traveling on earth, being offered hospitality by unsuspecting mortals, and then rewarding them for their generosity. This is represented in modern culture by the term "philoxenia" which represents our value of being friendly towards strangers. Relationships like these represent the fact that we still value our ancient culture, albeit through modern representation of its ideas. I see many moral, theological, and literary threads that connect the time of the pantheon with the time of modern christianity. As a result, I am passionate about how our ancient culture is represented. In many small ways, it is still a part of me.

2 - Whats your problem?

I started thinking deeply after a recent post on the subreddit (rightfully) condemning racist remarks towards the characterization of Hermes. I think the general consensus of correct - the design of the gods are amazing, and they do a great job representing how many different cultures were involved in worshiping the Pantheon in ancient times. Ancient Greeks traded with others, spread their beliefs far and wide, and often praised the virtues of other cultures (such as Ethiopia) through art and literature. This is represented well by diverse design in-game.
However, despite the fact that the characters in Hades visually represent the variety of people who engaged with the pantheon, I sometimes feel that their traits and voices don't represent Greekness. To put it in other words, the gods are fantastic at giving off the aura of Greek mythology, but less so at giving off the aura of Greek culture.

3 - What does you smelly uncle have to do with this?

My primary complaint is Supergiant's approach when choosing character voices. To preface - THE VOICE ACTING IS AMAZING! There's not a single character whose voice doesn't fit their design and personality. I'm still amazed that Darren Korb managed to nail both Skelly and Zag. However, what interferes with my immersion the most is the choice not to use Greek accents at all.
Hephaestus in the sequel looks exactly like my immigrant uncle in real life. However, every time he speaks, I'm left wondering why he sounds Scottish. Judy Alice Lee did an amazing job voicing Melinoe, but when she speaks Greek (ie. Kataskion Aski) during her incantations, it sounds more like a British classics student practicing her Greek lines. Greek-speakers are a vast minority of the player base, and I get that this is something only someone in my position can notice and complain about. However, it feels like voices were chosen based on what Americans think sounds "regal and godly" as opposed to what characters would sound like in the context of the culture.
I don't think this was done intentionally, and there are definitely limitations when casting voices that don't come in common accents. However, I do think it is a missed opportunity to create a work of art that represents our culture far more deeply than other media has in the past.
Another small example is the use of Roman numerals when marking the doors in Tartatus and Chronos' clock attacks. In the context of the story, these symbols are being used a few centuries too early. Why not use Greek letters as the numerical system, counting down doors through ε, δ, γ, β ,α until the end? It may be confusing on the first run, but people learn quickly - they may even walk away understanding more about the Greek alphabet. I'm sure the creative minds at Supergiant could come up with other ways to represent "time" in a way that fits the cultural context.

4 - Props for the small details

I'd like to give props to some of the amazing tiny details that did make me feel represented in-game.
Thank you for reading my rant. I understand that much of what I would have preferred is out of the scope of the team's vision, but I wanted to get my thoughts out so I can finally put them to rest. I hope my argument about cultural representation can be separated from the more negative and insensitive discourse about racial traits in character design.
Ν'αστε καλά. Θάνατοσ στο Χρόνοσ.
TLDR: The discourse around Supergiant's presentation of Hades characters has been bipolar - either "It's Perfect" or "It's Horrible". I think it is much closer to perfect than not, but as a Greek myself, I find myself begrudgingly accepting some very minor details (such as dubbing and pronunciation) that could have been executed a tad more thoughtfully. That being said, I think Supergiant did their best considering the resources available to them.

2024.05.16 16:41 Haddock_Lotus After the Summoner Class update, I think I have a Idea of how thy will develope the class until 9.0

Edit: Guys, I'm not conplaining I only found this was probably the most probable route they eill take in the future. I personally liked Solar Bahamut because of the sword spells (I even said this in my comment in the recent post of pics of solar bahamut), in-game I basically only play with sword wielding or magic classes to give you some idea XD It's my fault the post sounded like a negative feedback, I'm sorry for that.

2024.05.16 16:41 Hollownerox Seeing that CA somehow made the Lore of Hags work, how do you think other obscure Lores of Magic could be adapted into Total War (Lore of Athel Loren, Lore of the Dark Master, etc.)

Lore of Athel Loren

The Lore of Athel Loren is a bit of a weird one to adapt, since some stuff straight up doesn't work in Total War. But the same could have been said about Lore of Ice, and they handled that pretty well. Also there's a bunch of additional spells from the Roleplay game that could also be adapted, but since I don't own that book (and I don't trust the wiki) I'm sticking with the 6th edition spell lore.

Lore of the Dark Master

Be'lakor's unique lore of magic from 6th edition. He was later changed to be a Lore of Shadows caster, and Total War went with this direction. But I think it's a real missed opportunity to not include these spells in some fashion in his campaign. Making a unique lore of magic useable by only one character might not be worth the investment, so maybe instead interpret it as Bound abilities, or maybe a spell lore option for the Undivided Daemon Princes. Dark Emissaries would also use them if they are ever added as a generic lord/hero option.

Lore of the Lichemaster

Kemmler's unique Lore of Magic from White Dwarf #310. It's not actually a unique lore of magic, more like enhanced versions of the Lore of Vampires, meant to represent how Kemmler is one of the most powerful Necromancers around despite only being human. I think this would actually be a way of making Kemmler stand out more than just the resident Krell summoner (who really should be a separate Hero now instead). Especially since they gave Ghorst a Grave Guard summon instead of the guy who was THE Grave Guard guy.
He is THE original Warhammer named character after-all, so he really deserves it imo. I'm not going to really go in-depth here since you can basically interpret these as charged up versions of the standard Lore of Vampire spells.

Lore of Change

So this is kind of a thing and kind of not? Tzeentch's magic has gained and lost a lot from edition to edition. The one we have in-game is the 8th edition version of the lore which HARD focuses on damage. But Tzeentch had a lot of more spells that had more variety in uses in prior editions. I could see them doing what they did with Lore of Ice, by splitting these "leftover" spells into a separate spell lore.
Some of these are from the Roleplay supplements, specifically the Tome of Corruption, while others are from Storm of Magic. Which was an 8th edition supplement so those ones have a higher chance of being added.
There's also the various "coloured" fires of Tzeentch from older material, like Yellow Fire would give a shield for example. But I don't think they would make it in, since the 8th edition spells were a direct replacement for those.

Misc. spells from existing Lores that aren't in-game

There's a TON of spells from various supplements over the years that aren't part of their respective spell lores in game. So I'm not listing them all here, but things like the Tomb Kings had some interesting Incantations prior to the Lore of Nehekara being made, and there is a TON of stuff in supplements like Storm of Magic we could possibly include in-game.
Anyways those are my thoughts on some potential spells that can be added in the future? Any other obscure stuff I missed? Any interesting spells for Lore of Athel Loren from the RPG book that could be added instead? Would love to brainstorm more on this with y'all.

2024.05.16 15:57 spyrothegamer98 Spyro's Universe

Creation of the Realms
In the beginning there where two beings one of Light and one of Dark Aether one represented Creation and the other Destruction, both of these entities created the Realms of Draakana and Avalar which would become the homes of various species but especially Dragons which where created by the beings to bring forth magic into the realms. However they also created one specific Dragon a purple one that would be able to control all elements including Aether itself, this purple Dragon and all the ones that would follow would protect the Realms and bring an era of change either whether good or bad was up for the Dragon themselves to decide.
The Banishment of the Dragons
Formerly the Dragons lived in what is now known as the Forgotten Realms it was here where their species truly flourished, they build much of realms infrastructure and brought an era of peace across all species in these lands. It was during these times when the connection with Avalar was first founded and both realms entered an age of progress, however eventually a certain Sorceress grew to resent the Dragons believing them to hoard all the magic for themselves and banished them to the other side of the world, and with this the magic across the Forgotten Realms would slowly fade away over time with the portal that led to Avalar being the first to close.
The Founding of the Dragon Realms
When the Dragons awoke in the land they found themselves in they slowly but surely recreated their new home on the Island which would eventually become Dreamweavers. However this Island would eventually become to small for their civilization, and one brave Sea Dragon would set out to find a new home for her and her children. And after a long and exhausting swim she found land but after dragging herself to shore she collapsed and passed away her children would become the first inhabitans of what is now known as Dragon Shores, with the other Dragons following soon after.
The events of the OG trilogy happen
A thousand years after the Dragons have made their home in the new Realms a new purple Dragon was born who became known as Spyro, and whilst Spyro was mostly a thrill seeking young Dragon who didn't care about things such as destiny he would through his adventures bring the Realms into a new age of peace and prosperity. His story began when a creature known as Gnasty Gnorc who after causing much mischief across the Realms because he felt that he didn't fit in with the other creatures, with him having a particular interest in learing magic this caused the Dragons to eventually banish him to the Junkyard which Gnasty build his own kingdom in with him creating othe Gnorcs out of the stolen treasures of the Dragons.
Now Gnasty Always had plans to one day return to the Dragon Realms and take it for himself but after being insulted on live television he decided to put that plan into action now, and with one devasting hit of magic all the Dragons where turned into statues except for Spyro who didn't know it at the time but his ties to Aether had protected him from Gnasty's magic. After this Spyro would go about his first adventure freeing all the Dragons and collecting their stolen gems and eggs all ending with him torching Gnasty, of course Spyro didn't cause any permanent harm to him just enough to hopefully teach him a lesson
Sortly after Spyro's first adventure he found himself into a new mess, having brought to the Realms of Avalar which has been taking over by a small creature called Ripto nobody fully knows where Ripto has come from, perhaps a realm far away from both Draakana and Avalar but seeing how he has a hatred for Dragons it shows that he lives in a place near them. It is during this adventure that Spyro starts to take his role as a purple Dragon more serious whether unintional or not, with him bringing the various warring races of Avalar together and bringing peace across the lands and eventually leading to both Avalar and Draakana re-establishing contact. This adventure eventually ending in him defeating Ripto (or so it seems) and getting the vacation he wanted in the first place.
And now Spyro's last adventure of the og trilogy atleast, after a Thousand years of the magic slowly disapearing in the Forgotten Realms the Sorceress also notices that the magic she uses to keep herself alive is fading as well, with the signs of aging apearing across her body. Not just this but the portals across the Realms are shutting off one by one which would cause trouble for her dominion over the lands, she eventually caught wind of a young dragons adventures and learns where the Dragons have choosen to live after she banished them, and send her apprentice Bianca to steal their eggs, with Bianca believing that she wanted to bring the Dragons back to the Forgotten Realms to bring the magic back. Of course it was Spyro's job to get the Eggs back together with Hunter who choose to travel with Spyro to the Dragon Realms after his adventure in Avalar, and much like before Spyro would help the inhabitans of the Forgotten Realms and thanks to his Aether magic the longer he stays in the Realms the more the magic came back.
A short while into their adventure Hunter and Bianca would start to interact and would begin to catch feelings for eachother, much to the chagrin of Spyro which to be fair if your best friend felt in love with somebody who kidnapped the babies of your species you would not be happy either. But luckily for Spyro after Bianca learned that what the Sorceress plan is for the baby Dragons she would start to help Spyro and Hunter, and eventually Spyro would defeat the Sorceress once in her castle and later for good in the super bonus round.
After this the Forgotten Realms restablished contact with the Dragon Realms and became known as the United Realms under Bianca's leadership, it was also after this that the portal to Avalar was permantly openend only in the United Realms instead of the Dragon Realms thanks to the Professor having to go of old tomes, of course this was easily remedied when the Dragons gave the proper coordinates. This resulted in the cultural exchange between all Realms and a large group of Avalarians to move to Draakana, who created the Valley of New Avalar or just the Valley of Avalar as most called it.
What came after
Most of the events that happenend after the Forgotten Realms are of minor note, such as Spyro freeing the Fairylands from Grendor and saving the Dragonflies twice with the second time being caused by Ripto. The one thing of note with this even is that Spyro started to experiment with a different element mainly bubble breath, which he got access to thanks to Bianca who uncovered runes from the old dragon civilization it is even believed that these runes where created by the first Purple Dragon.
And now we get to the interesting bits, an elder by the name of Red got corrupted by the Sorcerer to plant Dark Gems (which another Dark Master would use later), in order to drain the land of Magic. And whilst Spyro would of course defeat Red the Sorcerer was in the meantime looking into the origins of Aether and the Purple Dragon, this let him to the Shadow Realm a place beyond creation. And after the defeat of Red he set his plan into motion to tap into these Shadow Realms by releasing the Calamity, which trapped everyone from Draakana and Avalar in the Shadow Realm whilst also draining them of their magic, it is also thanks to his meddling with Dark Aether that resulted in his Purple scales. And whilst Spyro would defeat him just like any other villain before hand the Calamity would have had irreparable damage to the world such as the formation of the Ancient Grove a poisonous forest that corrupts all that enter it. And it even changed the nature of the Purple Dragon.
The Age of Malefor
After an unknown amount of time Spyro would grow older and more powerfull having returned to his home of Artisans but some noticed that he would start to behave oddly, he would start to become more and more obsessed with Aether and other elements and eventually fell to the temptations of Dark Aether. This let him to be exiled and he eventually found himself in a place where Dark Aether was most abundant a place that would eventually become the well of souls. If only the Elders had paid attention to Spyro they would have noticed the weird glow in his eyes, and the fact that it looked as if there was something missing. This now soulless husk that was once the Hero of the Realms completely taken over by Dark Aether now dubbed himself Malefor the Dark Master, and he let a campaign of terror against his own kind, destroying the Artisans homeworld leaving it as a useless ruins that got covered up by the ground only to be rediscovered in the future and be renamed as the Ruins of Warfang. The same happenend to the Dream Weavers which Malefor let fall to the ground destroying the landscape and distorting it with runaway magic. Together with his Ape army he waged war agains all other Realms, using the improved Dark Gems now known as Dark Crystals to drain magic of both Dragons and other creatures to fuel his army and ambitions. Luckily for the rest of the world the Dragon Elders and Spyro's old friends managed to corner Malefor and trap him in the Shadow Realms or atleast his Essence, whilst the evil force that has taken his souls place was trapped in the well of Souls.
The Legend begins
Despite Malefor being trapped the damage was still done, much of the world was without magic and the portals became useless, not just that but many started to mistrust Dragons thanks to the ongoing war and many dragons have been killed during the war. But all would change when a new Purple Dragon would be born, who would for some reason insist on being called Spyro not even he knows why. After an attack from the apes on his home with the Dragonflies Spyro learns he isn't one of them and sets out to find where he belongs. It was at this moment that the found Ignitus the Dragon that was task with gaurding the eggs all those years ago, and after learning his name he was of course suprised but the decided to keep it to himself. After their meeting Spyro and Ignitus would retake the Temple and set out to save the othe Gaurdians from Cynder, with him traveling to the Elemental islands which cumulated in him ending up saving Ignitus in the ruins of Dreamweavers now known as the Concurrent Skies, it was here where Spyro learned about Cynders past and followed her to Convexity the place where the Dragon Realms and the Shadow Realms meet. And where Spyro and Cynder fought and whilst Spyro did defeat and save Cynder from her corruption but Malefor's essence is freed from the Shadow Realm, since then Cynder lived with Spyro and the Gaurdians at the Temple but what she has done under Malefors control still haunts her.
A couple of weeks later the Eternal Night approaches an event where the two celestial moons would eclipse and allow spirits to wander the Well of Souls, Spyro would be sent out to stop the Ape king Gaul and to find Cynder who fled the Dragon Temple thanks to her guilt, with spyro also having been tasked with finding the chronicler who has been contacting Spyro in his dreams. Spyros first stop would be the Ancient Grove a large forest that was corrupted by Dark Aether during the Calamity that at this point happenend centuries ago, and is gaurded by Arborik a large tree golem that was created by Malefor as an artificial soldier. But after Spyro defeated him he was kidnapped by a group of pirates and forced into an arena, it was during this time he got a letter addressed by Hunter of Avalar and had a short reunion with Cynder before Gauls forces attacked the pirates and kidnapped her, Spyro used the distraction to escape the pirates but during is flight away from the ship he fell unconscious thanks to the Chronicler, only to be saved by a leviathan who brought him to the shores of the White Isle.
The White Isle is an ancient Island that houses all of Dragon knowledge and is believed to have been created since the beginning of time, with the first Chronicler being also the first Purple Dragon. After Spyro met the Chronicler he told him that he led Spyro here to wait out Malefors return, but after Spyro learned that this would cause Cynder to return to Malefors control he choose to go to the Well of Souls to stop him there and then. And after a long battle on his way to the top and a fight against Gaul who incapacitated Cynder Spyro would fall in the energy beam that sat at the center of the arena, which caused Dark Aether to start corrupting the young Dragon much like it had done before with his previous life. And after this newly formed "Dark Spyro" gave Gaul the finishing blow he flew up to Cynder and Sparx who where horrified to see what had become of Spyro, with Cynder tackling Spyro out of the Energy beam which luckily turned him back to normal. But the Well of Souls started to collapse around them thanks to Malefors return, so Spyro would use his Dragon time ability to freeze them into a large crystal and protect them from the collapsing mountain.
During this three years would pass and during those years Malefor would cause even more damage to the world, first he corrupted the apes into shadowy monsters because he felt that they only followed him for power instead of loyalty, and then he destroyed the magic Crafters homeworld turning it into the Burned Lands whilst raising the ancient temples high up into the skies. After this he sent out his new artificial soldiers out to attack the Realms and used Dark Crystals to once again drain the lands of magic. At the end of those three years Hunter would finally find Spyro and Cynder only to be beaten by Malefors forces who took them to the catacombs which at some point where known as the Celestial Plains, both Spyro and Cynder would wake up at this place and fight their way out of it and finally meet up with Hunter who explained that he was sent out by Ignitus after Spyro didn't return to the temple, as well as the three years that they where absent.
After this they join him and travel to Warfang after a quick disagreement in the Valley of Avalar, a name that for some reason sound familiar to Spyro they found themselves in Warfang, right in the middle of a seige by Malefors army. And after Spyro and Cynder fight themselves through he city and defeat the giant lava golem they reunite with Ignitus, with Cynder asking if they could do something about the magic chains that keep Spyro and Cynder trapped together only to learn much to her annoyance that there is nothing they could do about it. After a short celebration of their victory malefor would announce the return of the Destroyer who would created the belt of fire that will destroy all life on the planet, so Spyro and Cynder would go through the Ruins of Warfang which housed the leftovers of Artisans and open the gate for the Gaurdians and other Dragons to ambush the destroyer in the valley.
After making their way to the valley they noticed that the Destroyer moved to quickly to catch up to them, only for Cynder to suggest to blow the Dam so that the water would slow it down. And so they did after which they destroyed the Dark Crystals that controlled the beast including the ones on the inside, but before they could celebrate Malefor reanimated it with his dark powers this let Ignitus with no choice but to take Spyro and Cynder through the now weaker belt of fire to confront Malefor head on, whilst sending the other Gaurdians to help the other inhabitants to hide underground far away from the surface. However even with Ignitus being an fire Gaurdian the flames eventually overtake him and with his last powers sents Spyro and Cynder through the belt killing him in the progress, this leaves Spyro distraught and he lets the darkness overtake him luckily for him Cynder is there to remind him that he's not alone. And both race through the Burned Lands and the Floating Isle's to confront Malefor before it is to late.
After finally making their way to Malefor the two Purple Dragons finally meet, with Malefor starting to create doubts in both Spyro and Cynder which allows him to sortly retake control of Cynder. During this Malefor would start to taunt Spyro leaving some hints about how they're the same, something Spyro would mistake as meaning something else and he almost gave up completely believing he had failed to protect Cynder, Ignitus and the others. This allowed Cynder to break free, and Malefor to fly in a fit of rage with the battle for the fate of the world finally beginning.
At first they battled high above the volcano but after the Destroyer finally entered it the planet started to break apart, and the fight went on in the same Volcano and the falling Temple that Malefor called home. With them eventually making their way to the core of the Planet, which was made from solid Aether, and with both sides giving one last Aether attack with Spyro and Cynder finally overtaking Malefor he falls on the Crystal and the Light Aether spirits take Malefor away, and hopefully destroying the Dark Spirit that had taken over the old Spyro's body all those centuries ago. But this wasn't the end yet because even with Malefor gone the world was still falling apart, and Spyro saw one last option telling Cynder to leave to life another day for he might not make it out this time, but Cynder choose to stay by Spyro's side and with one last use of Dragon time now amplified by Light Aether, and Cynders declaration of love Spyro stopped the world from falling apart creating a new era for the survivors.
And that's where our story ends the world now exists as a group of floating islands hold together by magic which finally started to really return, and Ignitus became the new Chronicler who started to look where Spyro and Cynder ended up, seeing how they're not in the book of dead dragons. What happens after this is anyones guess, maybe a new Purple Dragon would be born who would protect these newly formed Skylands.

2024.05.16 15:36 HauntingMonk9782 Damage Negation Question

Damage Negation Question
When viewing armor, under the ‘Damage Negation’ section, there are multiple stats listed:
Physical Vs Strike Vs Slash Vs Pierce Magic Fire Lightning
Does the ‘physical’ stat matter more than the individual strike, slash, pierce stats?
I am comparing 2 pieces of armor: armor A has 4.6 physical, Armor B only has 4.4 physical
However armor B has higher strike, slash, and pierce stats
Should I pick armor A purely because it has 4.6? Or should I pick armor B because the individual strike, slash, pierce numbers are better

2024.05.16 15:29 throw-away_dad I feel like half my life was a waste

When I (30M) was around 5 years old my parents bought a big new house. Not too long after they bought the house my mom decided to quit her job and be a sahm. This led to us being "house-poor" where we had a nice house but couldn't afford much else. And since my younger brother was the favorite child I felt the effects more than anyone else. After a few years I knew I didn't want to spend my life struggling and I decided to work hard to give myself and my future family a comfortable life.
I started working at 15 and saving my money. While other people my age were out having fun experiences and enjoying their teen years I was working or staying home. This was also around the time my parents checked out and left me to figure things out for myself. I wasn't kicked out but I had to pay my own bills and rent. And no way were they going to help with college applications or loans. After high school I joined the Army reserve to put myself through college.
Eventually I earned my Bachelors degree but because I was working full time and still had my duties in the reserves it took a few extra years. I met my wife at work during this time and she was making just above minimum wage despite having 2 degrees. We got married and moved in to a small apartment. She still had around $80K of debt in high interest college loans but thanks to my savings and working while going to college we were able to pay it off pretty quickly. She eventually got a job with a much better salary and I got a great job in a fortune 500 company.
After we were debt free and had good jobs we started trying for kids and looking for a house. None of the houses we looked at were a good fit so in 2018 we bought a piece of land that was cheap because it needed a lot of work to be able to build a house on it. So after working full time I would spend my weekends on our property getting it ready to build on. In late 2019 the property was finally ready to build on and my wife was pregnant with our first child. When he was born in 2020 I tried to be the best dad and husband possible. I helped with cooking, did most of the cleaning, made family time, and got up at night to feed him. All while working and spending weekends coordinating the building of our house.
When we moved in to the house I thought all my hard work and sacrifice had finally paid off. We had a beautiful house and family and I thought we would be happy there for a long time. But 13 months after we moved in I found out my wife was having an affair with someone she met at work. I was completely crushed and had some pretty dark thoughts after that. I wanted to leave her but I tried to do what was best for our kids, so we did marriage counseling. I did my best to follow what the counselor said but it didn't help very much.
We are still together and my kids are the most important things in my life. If it weren't for them I don't know if I would still be here. We are all comfortable and the kids are happy and I think we are both great parents for them. But every day I think about my wife betraying me after I worked so hard to give her this life. I think about everything I missed out on over the past 15 years because I was working for us. When I think of the future it seems like my only options are staying with a cheater for the rest of my life or divorcing her. But the thought of not seeing my kids every day is the worst thing I can think of.
Thanks for reading. I hope that posting this helps me come to terms with my situation and maybe accept it one day.

2024.05.16 14:49 ya-boi-benny Respect Zagor, the Warlock of Firetop Mountain (Fighting Fantasy)

Old peasant legends tell of a magnificent treasure at the peak of Firetop Mountain in the realm of Titan. This treasure is sought out by many adventurers, although few make it back out of the mountains in one piece, and none are able to find the two-locked chest containing the prize. The treasure is guarded by an enigmatic warlock who commands terrible beasts to guard the chest’s keys. Some say he's old, some say he's young, some say his cards are his source of power, others say it’s his black gloves. The only thing that the peasants can agree on was his name; Zagor.
The terrible warlock would fight three different adventurers on their quests to claim his treasure. Each time, if the reader makes the right choices and defeats Zagor in combat, he manages to crawl back from the blackness of death using another morbid spell. Upon his third incarnation, he even made the jump from the realm of Titan to a new world called Amarillia. It's here that the sorcerer would finally meet his end, burned to ashes in the mystical Heartfires.
Feats come from three books, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, Return to Firetop Mountain and Legend of Zagor. Hover over a feat to see what book it’s from. 2024.05.16 14:24 TheLotStore The Risks and Rewards of Rent to Own Homes in Arkansas

The Risks and Rewards of Rent to Own Homes in Arkansas
The Risks and Rewards of Rent to Own Homes in Arkansas
The Hazards and Gains of Lease to Purchase Dwellings in Arkansas
The notion of leasing to acquire a residence has become progressively favored in recent times, particularly in the area of Arkansas. Lease to purchase, also known as lease-purchase or lease-option, provides potential homebuyers with the opportunity to lease a property with the choice to buy it at a later date. While this arrangement can present a pathway to property ownership for those who may not meet the requirements for a conventional mortgage, it also comes with its own set of hazards and benefits. In this piece, we will delve into the particulars of lease to purchase dwellings in Arkansas, examining the possible advantages and drawbacks of this distinct home purchasing option.
Advantages of Lease to Purchase Dwellings in Arkansas
For many individuals and households in Arkansas, the aspiration of owning a residence may appear unattainable due to factors such as poor credit history or insufficient funds for a down payment. Lease to purchase dwellings offer a potential solution to these obstacles, as they offer a pathway to property ownership that is more within reach than traditional home purchasing methods.
One of the primary benefits of lease to purchase dwellings is the flexibility they afford. Lessees have the chance to reside in the dwelling they intend to acquire while building equity and enhancing their credit. This enables them to test out the property and the neighborhood in the area before committing to a purchase. Additionally, lease to purchase agreements frequently lock in a purchase price at the time the lease is signed, which can be advantageous in a burgeoning real estate market.
Moreover, lease to purchase agreements usually entail a lower initial financial commitment compared to a traditional mortgage. While a large down payment is ordinarily required to secure a mortgage, lease to purchase dwellings may only demand a smaller option fee, which can be bargained between the buyer and seller. This can make property ownership more attainable for individuals with limited funds for a down payment.
Potential Hazards of Lease to Purchase Dwellings in Arkansas
Despite the appealing advantages of lease to purchase dwellings, there are significant hazards associated with this home purchasing option, particularly in the area of Arkansas. One of the primary concerns is the potential for unethical sellers to take advantage of buyers who may be desperate for property ownership. Some sellers may offer lease to purchase agreements with unfavorable terms, such as high option fees and monthly lease payments that do not contribute toward the purchase price.
Another hazard of lease to purchase dwellings in Arkansas is the absence of standardization in lease-purchase agreements. Without regulations governing these contracts, buyers may find themselves in nebulous legal waters if a dispute arises with the seller. It is crucial for lessees to meticulously review and comprehend the terms of the agreement before signing, and to seek legal counsel if necessary.
Furthermore, the real estate market in Arkansas can be unpredictable, and the future value of the property may not align with the agreed-upon purchase price. This can result in buyers paying more for the property than it is actually worth at the time of purchase, potentially leading to financial strain and negative equity.
Navigating Lease to Purchase Dwellings in Arkansas
For individuals and families in Arkansas considering lease to purchase dwellings, it is crucial to approach this option cautiously and conduct thorough research. Potential buyers should take the following steps to mitigate hazards and maximize the potential gains of a lease to purchase agreement.
First and foremost, it is crucial to conduct comprehensive due diligence on the property and the seller. This may include obtaining a home inspection, researching the seller's standing, and thoroughly reviewing the terms of the lease-purchase agreement. It is also advisable to seek the guidance of a real estate attorney who can review the contract and provide legal advice.
Additionally, potential buyers should work on improving their credit and financial stability during the rental period. This may involve making on-time lease payments, reducing debt, and addressing any negative marks on their credit report. By taking steps to enhance their financial profile, lessees can increase their chances of securing a mortgage when the time comes to make the acquisition.
Furthermore, it is important for renters to communicate openly with the seller and to seek clarification on any aspects of the agreement that are unclear. This includes understanding the terms of the option fee, the portion of the monthly lease that goes toward the purchase price, and the timeline for exercising the option to acquire the residence.
Finally, potential buyers should evaluate the pros and cons of lease to purchase dwellings and consider alternative home purchasing options. While lease to purchase can be a viable route to property ownership for some individuals, there may be other solutions to consider, such as FHA loans or down payment assistance programs, particularly for those who may not have an immediate need to purchase a residence.
Conclusion
Lease to purchase dwellings in Arkansas can provide a practical route to property ownership for individuals and families facing obstacles such as poor credit or limited funds for a down payment. However, it is crucial for potential buyers to approach this option with caution and to conduct thorough research before entering into a lease-purchase agreement. 2024.05.16 14:19 Longjumping-Leg1819 My personal opinion and perspective about Schizotypal F21.

These are my opinions regarding this condition and its functions from a subjective perspective, I will also share my personal experience.
Here are some opinions regarding this disorder, I've noticed that a lot of people on this community usually emphasize on the multiple symptoms they experience, while that it is fine in itself, the major issue that i also used to have is that.
By fixating on said symptom, you will essentially just complicate things even more, for example; A belief, magical belief.
I'm sure the majority of here has them, but the important thing is to acknowledge its impact and significance it plays in your life. You could have multiple unusual belief, paranoia ideas but if none of them will impact your life that severely, then it should best be ignored.
For example, a schizotypal man who believes in a supernatural force/entity/concept that will impact his life.t Thoughts, behaviors, interpersonal relationships, worldview. Some of his decision making, choices, and world view will include this element to the point it negatively affects his life.
I make this point to differentiate the degree in which the symptom operates, so just having unusual beliefs or interests, wouldn't necessarily be indicative of it, this point will also apply to "delusions."
Unusual belief and delusions can differ in term of severity and its impact on your daily life, a person with unusual belief will incorporate some of that belief in their decision making (If i do this, I won't get bad luck) it's not an occasional behavior, but a pervasive and consistent pattern, so when you eat, you do that, when you sleep, the pattern reoccur. But the severity differs in the sense that, the person won't let it dictate the majority of their behaviors and is still aware of its nature.
Where as in a delusion, the person is not, it's a constant and invisible belief, a person that suffers from a delusion will act as how they have always acted, they wouldn't notice a thing, any differences, no matter how absurd or irrational it may seem. A delusion about "Death" for example, would be noticeably more conspicuous (obvious), than a subtle belief.
For example, They could attend cementary on a daily basis out of fear that, if they do not perform this ritual, something or someone or somehow they will die. This is a very obvious pattern of behaviors, if you ask them, they'd tell you about it, no matter the reasoning, it makes sense for them.
On the other hand, A schizotypal belief can be argued against with logic and they won't follow through the same demanding process presence in a delusion, and they can ignore it, but different from a person with unusual belief in said concept is that, STPD will consciously avoid anything associated with it due to "magical reasons" on a consistent basis.
This is how i was able to differentiate between any symptoms of any disorder, it is fundamentally the severity and the pervasive, and the varying context it is present, and the effect it has on your life. Schizotypal can get better, by simply learn to ignore their belief depends on how "extreme" their belief is.
Another symptom of Schizotypal I've seen frequently discussed is the inability to make friends, this is a fairly common symptom which occurs in varying illnesses, not just schizotypal per see. But there's a subtle different. It's how STPD approach this behavior, thoughts, emotions and way of seeing the world.
Maybe you are unable to make friends because the inability to relate to others or you feel distant or you feel anxious, these are usually common issues regarding this, but the method toward improving this is to learn to understanding the underlying mechanism of this pattern and reasoning behind it.
Here's an example, if you find it hard to relate to others due to anxiety problem, even though schizotypal has anxiety symptom, it isn't as severe as actual and pathological anxiety disorder, in term of severity, a STPD would feel anxious but to a much lesser degree and may just be doubtful, so they won't profusely hyperventilate, sweat or stress as much, it's more in the line of "I don't like this" rather "I can't endure this".
This inability to form or maintain a healthy relationship is also found in depression but the differences between schizotypal is much more complicated and complex compared to depression, in depression it is usually a result of a lack of energy or desire to pursue that relationship, a lack of motivation but for Schizotypal it may be influenced by multiple interplaying factors to be considered; upbringing, mindset, beliefs, possibly anxiety and a tendency toward isolation or in rarer cases because of their unusual behaviors (Laughing randomly in a middle of a conversation). If their upbringing or experience was difficult or traumatic, they may develop an unusual approach toward relationship which makes it hard for others to relate to, or because of their belief which is so intensely in conflict with others, or due to their unusual behaviors that are too intense. All in the context of STPD.
"I can't relate because nobody understands me, nobody understands what i am like"
"I can't relate to you because we think too differently, and i find it hard to keep this going."
"You don't like me because I act weird, because i talk to myself? because i make weird noises?" Are three examples.
My personal opinion about this disorder is that medicine don't actually "fix" your problems, medicine can't change how you think, your past, and how you interacts with others, it can only lessen the degree of the symptoms but it will never change who you are, it can lessen your anxiety, but it can't lessen the fact that you don't like others. So the only way to change this is to change yourself, work on yourself and be aware of your problems.
Medicine can't make you like another person, nor can it make you stop, it can't make you stop acting this way, the only way is to do it yourself. Unless you're in a very unique circumstance where it prevents you from doing so, it's always good to seek help and work on it by understanding the underlying issue.
