I want to start a discussion about two topics that are intersecting for me. 1. Introducing my kids to star trek 2. What star trek means to me/says about me
I'm a huge trekkie for nearly 30 years and really enjoy the Berman 90s trek specifically and want to share that with my kids. My kids and I watch a lot of shows together. Anime, cartoons, etc. They are 14 and 10. Very smart and were able to get into and watch a couple TNG episodes already. My son didn't expect the show to be about exploring space and finding new life. He really liked that aspect of it. We watched Inner light and who watches the watchers bc the former is one of the very best episodes for people watching ST for the first time and the latter being one of my personal favorites bc of the themes of supernatural beliefs being based in ignorance and picards refusal to set the proto Vulcan humanoids back by allowing them to believe he is their god. That resonated a lot with me as a 15 year old watching it for the first time.
I think if my kids can get into Star trek and understand why I like it. Not only will they like it but they will understand who I am a little better. My kids and I have a really good relationship so it's not like they need a better understanding particularly but it's just part of bonding and spending time with each other. So after I had that thought, I began wondering what did star trek mean to me?
I've seen those t shirts that say "everything I need to know about life I learned on star trek" I need one of those lol obviously it isn't meant to be taken literally but there is so much hope in the future in star trek. This idea that one day we will be able to put aside competing with one another and do away with capitalism, consumerism and materialism. No one is being lazy and not contributing. No one is concerned whether or not anyone is being lazy or not contributing enough. Bc of the invention of replicators we can feed, clothe and house everyone without anyone having a job. We don't need a labor force bc we can replicate pretty much anything and use technology to get or do whatever you need. So everyone can focus on what makes them happy and follow their dreams. If the artist who could never make art before bc they had to work at a factory. Now they can make art. Now that everyone is able to truly focus on their dreams, the scientist began making more breakthroughs at a faster rate bc all the scientist who were stuck in a blue collar jobs can be scientist and bc they are happier and truly love their jobs, they do better work and improve more. There's no religion. There's no nationalism or fear of globalism. There's still autonomy and freedom for all and individual nations can govern through democracy but Earth is Earth. Not China. Not the United States. Just Earth. Everyone is honest and genuinely care and don't judge or demean each other. It's really a beautiful vision of society.
This has gotten longer than I intended but I have to mention the spirit of discovery and exploration that Picard and Archer represent most out of the captains. That desire to go new places, find new life, and learn new things is another aspect of the show that is really appealing to me. I'd love to to hear what star trek meant to other people and if you share my perspective of what makes it appealing.

Sorry for the long post! First time posting ever. Sorry if it's not very concise.
I (26f) come from a very large, complicated family. When I was two, my bio parents divorced, and since then (through multiple marriages and divorces) I have gained a plethora of siblings, all of whom I love dearly. Of the seven siblings I have gained, three of them were also birthed by bio mom (50f, who will be referred to as Gaslighter from now on). These three siblings are "Lucy" (28f), "Birdie" (17f), and "Topher" (14m) (all names changed). For context: Gaslighter had abandoned me twice in my childhood - once when she and my father ("John" 53m) first divorced, and once when she and my step father (53m) separated. While the first time was not memorable due to my age and the shorter time span, the second was when I was 14 and I had no contact with her for THREE YEARS. No holidays, no birthdays, nothing. On top of this, when she was around, she was emotionally and verbally abusive to me. She tried to keep me from my father, talked crap about him constantly (including trying to convince me at age 7 that John wanted me aborted), she would not let me play with my sister or friends, and she consistently fat shamed me my entire life. I was a very athletic kid, so I was not by any stretch "fat", but because I had a large appetite due to exercise and medications I needed, I was dubbed "miss Piggy" and "the vulture", and Gaslighter would screech "caw caw" like a vulture if I grabbed seconds. Due to this, I've been struggling with eating disorders since I was 10. She also forced me to raise Topher from birth, as she had forced Lucy to raise Birdie. Now, there's a bunch of other examples I can include, but this is already a lot. So, to the story... I've known for a few years that I would end up cutting Gaslighter out of my life, between the childhood trauma that continued into adulthood and how she treated everyone I love. That being said, I was planning on playing nice until Birdie and Topher were both adults, because I was afraid that pissing Gaslighter off would have negative repercussions on them. I had told Lucy, Birdie, and Topher about my plan and they were all very understanding and on board. For everything I have been through, they have too. The last decade has just been about survival until they were legally free. But in the last year, I have been diagnosed with PTSD from the abuse endured by Gaslighter, and her behavior has become more erratic and terrifying. Over Christmas, I decided that I couldn't wait another 4 years, so I began distancing myself, hoping to just fade away from her. Interactions with Gaslighter had begun inciting my panic attacks, and for my own health, I needed to get out. THIS is where the problem starts. Obviously, Birdie is almost an adult, and she has her own plans to dip out as soon as she turns eighteen. That being said, Gaslighter is actively tightening her grip, making Birdie's life miserable. When I told my siblings that I was going to just ghost Gaslighter, Birdie freaked out. She asked me to not ghost, but to tell Gaslighter that I no longer wanted a relationship with her. Because I knew I wouldn't be able to face her without a breakdown or caving in (this woman has an amazing ability to make herself the victim), I offered a compromise: I would write a letter and mail it to her, and I would wait to completely cut her off until it was mailed. Birdie was happy with this solution. I took my time writing the letter because the stress of the situation was overwhelming and I was still terrified of Gaslighter. Besides that, the tiny part of me that always needed Gaslighter to be a REAL mother to me wanted to keep giving her chances. So, I spent countless nights crying to my fiance about the situation. I did write the letter, but I never got around to mailing it because life was crazy with final exams and family events and work. I still intended to send it, but just never got to it. This past weekend, my father called me. John was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer when I was 15, and, for the following 4 years, I took on the brunt of caring for him. I took him to almost all of his appointments, made sure he had his medicine, talked with doctors, made sure he ate and the house was clean when he was too sick to do it. He never asked me to do any of it, but this was during the time in my life where Gaslighter was MIA, so I had the freedom to spend my time where I wanted, and I chose to take care of him. I have no regrets whatsoever, and I'm glad for that extra time, because I seldom spent time with him as a child. John was the first person who I felt actually understood me, and we had a lot in common, so those years were some of the best in my life. He really is one of my favorite people. Because of the harsh treatments, however, his health has been a mess since his diagnosis. But we have all just been happy to have him around, especially since the doctors told us there was a 6% chance he would survive past 5 years. It has now been 11. While John is still in remission, he recently received some distressing news. In the phone call last weekend, he told me that he will be paralyzed from the waist down within the year, but more than likely, within a few months. I was devasted. I had a breakdown that devolved into my hatred of Gaslighter and her treatment of myself and my father, and something switched inside me. I truly no longer felt any love or care for that woman. I decided that night that I was done. I blocked her on everything and decided I would never see or speak to her again. Birdie obviously isn't happy about it. I know I didn't keep to my promise about the letter. But I just can't justify ever interacting with her again, and I know that letter will do nothing but add fuel to Gaslighter's "woe is me" narrative. So, I guess I am asking if I am the a-hole for not keeping my promise and just ghosting, despite possible repercussions or the feelings of my siblings?

- 29 BC - Visenya Targaryen is born, the first child of Aerion Targaryen, Lord of Dragonstone, and his wife Valaena Velaryon.
- 27 BC - Only a few years later, the boy who would later become the Conqueror, Aegon Targaryen, is born. His betrothal to Visenya is arranged almost the moment he is swaddled.
- 25 BC - Rhaenys Targaryen, youngest of the trio, joins the family. She is the last Targaryen born before the Conquest.
- 21 BC - Visenya begins to train with Lord Quenton Qoherys, Master-at-Arms of Dragonstone, and shows exceptional skill at arms. Later on, Aegon and Rhaenys both join her in practising their swordplay. Visenya always seems to get an edge, despite their shared significant skill.
- 14 BC - Between training sessions, Visenya finds herself exploring quiet places on Dragonstone. It is during one of these outings that she comes across one of the island’s non-human occupants. Vhagar, one of the smaller dragons on the island, bonds quickly with her. It takes a few months of bonding, but Visenya quickly becomes close to the beast - and soon enough she becomes its one and only rider.

Nearly through dragonfire alone, the armies of Reach and West crumble, House Gardener nearly becomes extinct, and House Lannister kneels to the new royal house. Visenya receives an injury in the battle, taking an arrow to the shoulder, but it does nothing to hamper her skill.
- 1 BC - In the wake of the Field of Fire, Visenya retreats to the Aegonfort to recover from her injury. It does not take long for her to return to action, though, joining her siblings at the Trident to await the arrival of a Northern host led by the King of Winter. Visenya has no qualms with burning every Northman who wishes to cross the river, but Torrhen’s surrender is a move she views as wise. With the northern border secure, Visenya deals with her only loose end once and for all. On dragonback, she travels to the Eyrie as the Queen Regent of the Vale amasses an army, her attempt to arrange a marriage between herself and Aegon a failure. Visenya’s arrival is met by the young King, who sits himself up on her lap to await Sharra Arryn’s arrival. When she turns up, Ronnel asks to fly on dragonback - and that is enough to make Sharra capitulate, handing over the crown of Mountain and Vale to the dragonrider. Visenya’s act of mercy endears her to the young king and his mother, who becomes a close companion of Visenya in later years.
- 1 AC - With the Conquest brought to an end, besides the Dornish and the Ironborn homeland, the royal family fly to Oldtown to witness the crowning of Aegon I Targaryen, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm. To gain the sympathies of the people, the Targaryens convert to the Faith of the Seven - though Visenya holds fast to her Valyrian beliefs behind closed doors, unwilling to abandon her heritage to please those who she conquered. With Aegon’s victory, King’s Landing’s construction becomes the focus of the realm. For a while, anyway. During this initial period of peace, one attempt is made on the life of the King, with Visenya putting down the assassins. Aegon believes his guards are more than sufficient usually, and she proves him wrong by opening up his cheek with the tip of Dark Sister before any of his men can respond. Not long after, Ser Corlys Velaryon is named Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, and six knights are selected to join him in an act honouring the false gods of Westeros.
- Far from the capital, in Mooncrest, a daughter is born to Lord Lyn Egen and his wife. She is named Marsella.
- 2 AC - Once again, the peace is fractured. House Sunderland resumes their rebellion against House Arryn and the Crown, and the Ironborn continue to war with Westeros as a whole. Whilst Aegon deals with the raiders to the west, the Queen flies north and puts down Queen Marla Sunderland and her rebels, turning the hold of House Sunderland and the entire line to ash, naming House Borrell as overlords of the Sisters, and bidding them swear fealty to House Stark of Winterfell in place of the young Lord Arryn. Before returning to King’s Landing, she takes a quick stop at the Eyrie to berate the Lady Regent for her negligent handling of the situation - though she leaves with a far more forgiving stance, and perhaps a touch of regret for her harsh decision.
- 3 - 7 AC - Visenya assumes a position in the royal court enforcing Aegon’s will, assisting the Kingsguard in protecting him from attacks, and providing an intimidating presence for those who would overstep their bounds. She maintains contact with the Arryns of the Vale, letters flying back and forth to keep her friendship with the Lady Regent alive. She gives and receives advice, whiles away time writing, and promises to visit.
- 7 AC - At a feast to celebrate the seventh anniversary of the Conquest, during one of Rhaenys’ visits to Dorne, the King is attacked. Goldcloaks perform the assassination attempt in great numbers, and the force of Visenya and the Kingsguard isn’t enough to stop them from getting to Aegon and wounding him. Despite their failure to protect him, the fight ends in royal favour as Ser Malwyn Blackwood takes some of the assailants captive and Visenya tends to the fallen king. He is unresponsive but alive, and Orys promises to take care of him whilst the prisoners are interrogated. Reluctantly, the Queen agrees. It does not take long for the truth to be revealed - that House Tully of Riverrun plotted the attack, in an attempt to kill the King. It seemed unlikely that they would fail, in the end, but Visenya refused to let them see their day of victory. Only she is told, and she acts immediately, leaving the city on the back of Vhagar and heading towards Riverrun with only one objective in mind. When she reaches the castle, there is little hesitation - fire envelops the people and the structures, turning all to ash. No Tully survives, in her reckoning, and she takes the signet ring of Lord Edmyn as proof of her victory and their failure. Naming the land Aegon’s Rest, she pens a writ bestowing it upon Baelor Belaerys, a man in her husband’s service and descendant of dragonlords of old, and names Lord Lannister the overlord of the territory. She returns to King’s Landing, but her visit does not last long - when Aegon’s death is confirmed, and the Master of Laws reveals the plans to split governance three ways, she leaves for the Vale almost immediately. She only stays around long enough to have her pregnancy confirmed - an heir to the throne.
- 7 - 10 AC - It doesn’t take long for Visenya to arrive at the Eyrie, welcomed in her grief by Sharra and her children. She is visibly pregnant, and her small retinue settles in well. Most of her time is spent with the Lady Regent and the children, and the birth of her first child - who she names Laenor - is no deterrent from that. In fact, it often seems that Visenya has more affection for her host’s children than her own. She becomes almost a second mother to the Lord of the Eyrie and his three siblings. Despite her closed-off nature, she finds a constant companion in Sharra Arryn, and becomes as close to friends as she can with many others present in the castle including Lord Lyn Egen, an advisor to the Lady Regent. She splits her time between training, flying, the children, and her own heir.
- 10 AC - Ronnel Arryn comes of age, and is wedded to Serena Stark. It is an arrangement made by Rhaenys, one that infuriates Visenya to no end initially. She becomes irate at Sharra, but quickly turns around and accepts it. Their relationship remains warm and close. However, nearing the end of the year, Sharra dies. Once more, Visenya retreats into herself, spending most of the days in the sky on Vhagar’s back alone. She is convinced to return to life by the Arryn children, and continues to raise them into adulthood. Without Sharra, it is a harder task, but one she confronts all the same.
- 13 AC - Despite their devotion to the Seven, gods Visenya only considered to be hers in name, the formation of the Cavaliers brings joy to the Queen in the Mountains. She places her support behind the order, continuing her return to public life within the Vale. She takes on the duty of training the daughter of her good friend Lord Egen, teaching young Marsella how to fight. Despite their difference in weaponry - Visenya’s preference for smaller longswords versus Marsella’s for large hefty greatswords - the two get along fiercely well.
- 15 AC - When news of the tragedy in the Kingswood reaches the Eyrie, Visenya sends her condolences to the regent for the deaths under his watch. There is something cold about the way it is written.
- 16 AC - News of Dorne’s integration into the Seven Kingdoms pleases her no more than the Kingswood Catastrophe, especially when the stipulation upon which it happened is made known to her. Unwilling to dishonour the deal, Visenya ensures that she has it in writing that Laenor will one day marry the Princess of Dorne’s daughter, but she is irate over Rhaenys’ move - but also a little proud of her younger sister for outmanoeuvring her.
- 19 AC - After a long period of courting and an even longer period of talking, a wedding is held at Mooncrest between Visenya Targaryen and Lord Lyn Egen. There is jubilation, a tournament, a grand feast, and perhaps the first real smile on the lips of Visenya since the death of Sharra Arryn. It is proof that there is still a drop of the old Visenya beneath the cold, disconnected surface, that very few see. It is not the end of ceremony for the Egens in that year, as Marsella is inducted into the Cavaliers. She is sworn to protect Laenor Targaryen, too, her sibling and friend.
- 20 AC - Early in the year, after a prolonged illness, Lyn’s eldest daughter Carolei passes. There is sorrow in Mooncrest, but it is solved in part by good news. Just a year and a bit after their wedding, Visenya and Lyn’s first and only child is born, a young girl named Maegelle. She is Lyn’s third daughter, second living, and only one present in Mooncrest - Marsella left a note in the wake of her sister’s death that she was taking some time for herself in Essos and would be back when she viewed it right. Some wonder if she is participating in Orys’ plans to create closer relations with Essos, but the Egens know that is unlikely - Marsella cares little for politics and less for the enemies of her father’s wife.
- 20 - 25 AC - Visenya and Lyn remain quiet at Mooncrest and the Eyrie, engaging in politics and plotting and regular court life (moreso for the latter than the former), as Laenor becomes more and more shaped into the ruler they’re meant to become. Meanwhile, across the Narrow Sea, Marsella becomes more grizzled a warrior, serving with the Lost Legion before their arrival in Westeros, meeting the Blue Sails and their leader Helya Harlaw and joining them briefly, and taking on mercenary work across the Free Cities and the Disputed Lands for anyone who would pay for a Westerosi warrior. Her contact with Mooncrest is limited, bearing only a few words attached to packages for Laenor alone.
- 25 AC - As Laenor comes of age, and the realm at large is summoned to King’s Landing to celebrate the namedays of her and Rhaenys’ children, Visenya prepares for the worst - her sister will not move aside easily, and she knows well enough that Rhaenys might have to be forced. But there is no doubt in her mind that she is ready for it - she just prays the realm is to join her. From the East, Marsella returns, ready to see her kin and friends for the first time in half a decade. She is not the same woman she once was.

M 25 with GF same age as me, get into fights when i go out with buddies to drink or attend a work related function. She always gets mad if i drink thinking that im cheating or about to cheat simply because there is alcohol regardless if its just with the boys or coworkers. I understand that she does not like it so i dont usually go unless it's something that i can't really say no to, like i have to go to work dinner or a seminar for a few days.
She gets somewhat paranoid and accusatory when there is woman in a group photo, which leads to arguments and fights.
The problem is when she goes out and has drinks with her friends she doesn't think that it's a problem. I have no issue with her going out, it's just i know she sucks at handling her alcohol. I've known her since highschool and know that she gets drunk even when she smells the stuff.
I usually pick her up when they're done to make sure everyone gets home safely, But because of our work we are sometimes at different locations where its not possible to do so.
As i am writing this post, she is currently out drinking in a karaoke bar with work-colleagues. I told her that she should hit the sack early since she has to fly early tomorrow, but insists that she is fine and get back to her hotel late because a guy from work will drive her there.
Now here's where you may lose me, but we read each other's messages, i know, but we kinda just did it since highschool. I know for a fact this guy is into her, like he keeps sending her flirty memes or straight up texts her goodmorning beautiful or some other adjective. Context here( we've been together since we were 15, to my knowledge she never had any other serious relationship, and i only had one serious relationship beside her).
Everytime i bring it up that he likes her and she should stop replying to non work related conversation to avoid a-niceguy-you-lead-me-on possible reaction. She justs says im paranoid and it's just friendly talk. And it's not only this guy, at one point in our relationship she went on a date with someone only to realize that such was in fact a date when the guy gave her a present and basically asking her out, this was one of our common friends who was about to be deployed. Grab your water because this is a tough pill to swallow. When is the cheater the victim? Maybe when they are in an abusive relationship? When they are being controlled by their partner? When they are continuously manipulated into being painted as the “bad guy” ? Gas lit every day into thinking that they are the problem and they need to do all the work to fix the relationship? When the other person cheated FIRST? What happens when two victims of abusive relationships come together and cheat on their spouses. Who are the real victims? Is it so crazy to think that two people who are screaming for help and not understanding why all their hard work isn’t working in their relationship and their partner continues to be little and manipulate you into thinking there is no problem with the relationship end up finding each other and CHEAT? We have mountains of statistics, books, scholarly articles, therapists, ect. To help us with the cope of recovering from the cheater. This isn’t to say that this information isn’t useful in cases where someone is truly a victim of repetitive cheating and abuse. But what happens when one partner says they are unhappy and they are trying everything to make the other person happy, following their lists of demands and “boundaries”. And when that partner says clear as day, “Hey, I’m not happy in this relationship. I might cheat on you and or leave you you need to do something about that” and the other partner retorts:” you’re crazy you would never cheat on me. You would never leave me. How could you leave me? I’m everything. I own you. I control you. You would never have the balls to step out and relaize that you are an amazing human and there is another victim out there willing accept you for who you are”. And when that partner finds out that they’ve been cheated on, they go to all the books, all the statistics, all the therapists, to confirm their own bias that you are the problem and you are the wrong one because YOU cheated. And Instead of looking at oneself and wondering? Huh? Why in 15 years did my good man finally cheat on me? They try and force their partner to ruin the life of the OTHER victim involved in the affair. Sometimes the person cheated on is a narcissist. Sometimes the CHEATER is the victim.

A bit of background about me: I've been tutoring math and science privately for the last 8 years, primarily in my city. I mostly work with high school students but have also tutored some university students. I just wanted to share my positive first experience at locals. There were many things I was anxious about, in large part due to other posts on reddit, but my experience was pretty great, so I want to balance things out a bit for other new players.
Probably relevant for a lot of these points but I'm not in the USA, I'm in rural Germany.
Just a funny anecdote but there are a lot of reddit posts about cards like Traptrix or Feet Ash being highly stigmatized in the USA but here no one assumes you are a menace to society just because you play them, or even if you say you like the art.

My experience with the players at my venue is that they are very welcoming and accommodating, helpful, generous and friendly to new players. Of course try to be a delight to interact with yourself.Smell
Lots of horror stories shared lately. Really no BO issues at my venues, BUT, I found out if the venue is not ventilated then it can get bad on hot days. So if you're having smell problems at your venue do check out the other venues near you.Timer
This is pretty much the only fear I had that actualized. 45 minutes for a match is really stressful for a beginner who doesn't know every meta deck's cards by heart. Because of that I much prefer attending freeplay sessions over Konami tournaments, and I would advise to inquire if the players in your local scene organize any such sessions. That said, I want to share what I do to not waste time:- At the start of a game, I'll tell the other player that there's no need to tell me every full effect unless I specifically ask, BUT when activating anything they should not just say "activate x" or "effect" but "activate x to search", "effect to place face up" etc, just enough to know if I can use my handtraps/negates on it.
- Roughly, the only times I pick up cards are: [1] when I want to check a PSCT nuance that is hard to convey orally, or some detail that would reveal my hand if I asked directly; [2] if I sense my opponent is omitting stuff I might care about; [3] when my opponent is thinking or doing something else and I can remind myself what a card does during that time.
- I still ask my opponent for cards' full effects orally when it matters to my game plan but I'm not fussed about PSCT nuances and such.
- When going second I don't ask about every card I don't know, I usually wait for the end board and then ask "what protection, quick and trigger effects do you have on the field and in the graveyard". It's honestly even more convenient than on simulator sometimes because on simulator sometimes you have over 15 cards to review in the graveyard when only 2 have relevant quick/trigger effects.
- If I feel like I'm not playing quick enough for the timer, I don't try to play optimally and just accept that I'll misplay, and then I study at home the decks played at my locals so that I'll do better next time.
Skill requirement
My experience in my local scene is that the skill required is a lot lower than what I expected (other than the time aspect). I've encountered very diverse decks from sub-rogue to Snake-Eye. I can't make it to Master with my pet deck on MD and I think someone who can't make it to Diamond would do fine, as long as:- They know every card of their own deck, and how they interact legally. Practicing lines with the physical cards at home for a little bit helps. Research rulings relevant to your cards.
- They know how fast effect timing works (aka colloquially "who has priority"), and in what order trigger effects are declared.
Culture regarding deck choices
One thing that I've seen come up a bit on reddit is whether your deck choice matters socially. I would say overall people here are very chill about it but I'd note that whether someone will come up to you and ask to play definitely depends on how much they enjoy playing with you, so your demeanor and their matchup with your deck. However I would say the players here are mature and even if they voice their dislike of your someone else's deck the dislike has never been directed at the player. I'm honestly at a loss of what to do. Until half a year ago I was engaged and had everything I never thought I would have until she decided she was no longer happy. It's been more than a few years since I was in the dating market, but things have drastically changed for me due to a horrible incident that occurred a while back. A bit of backstory, and I'll included a TlDr at the end.
Several years back there was a hobby group I used to regularly attend, and one day this woman who had only started showing up recently took an interest in me. I'd just gotten out of a pretty bad relationship a few months before that, so when she made a move on me, I took her up on it to see where things would go. I wasn't use to a woman actually making the first move, so I took it as a good sign. We saw each other for the next few weeks and in that time we had gotten physical a few times, with her making the first move on that as well. Fast forward to the end of our time together when I found out she had a boyfriend the entire time and was cheating on him with me. I broke it off with her because I didn't want to be "the other guy" to some poor sap, and she wasn't pleased with me for finding out. Her boyfriend had nearly caught her cheating, so what did she do? She threw me under the bus and told him I was "just some creep who wouldn't leave her alone". Hilarious, because I had chat logs that showed nothing but positive interactions between us and call logs showing we would spend several hours a week on the phone together. I block her on everything and move on with my life.
Fast forward several years later, I'm engaged and in a happy relationship, and a gal pal of mine DM's me to tell me she saw a post about me in a group on FB. She sent me live updates on the post as well. I guess these groups called "Are We Dating The Same Guy" popped up seemingly everywhere, and our local group had nearly 50,000 local women in it at that time. Considering I live in what's generally called a "small city", this was extremely concerning. The poster was the woman from the hobby shop, and she uploaded my full name and multiple photos of me. In the post she said that I "violently rxped" her, was a "woman beater", and called me a "dangerous predator". I felt sick to my stomach. Worse than that, at least 15 different women were commenting on the post verifying it was "all true". Only 1 woman tried to defend me, a woman I used to work with, and within minutes her comments were deleted and she was banned from the group. As for all the other women commenting, half of them were women I hadn't seen since literally high school and never spoke to because I was a quiet nerdy kid who stuck to his friends. One of them even said she had "first hand experience", but I had never even spoken one word to her in my life. The other women commenting, I didn't recognize their names or faces at all and was certain I'd never met or spoken to any of them. Comments ranged from saying things like I "stalked them home", "assaulted them at a club" (I don't drink or go to bars), and one even said that I "forcefully penetrated her" in her own home, despite not even knowing who she is.
I spent that entire day having a panic attack and was on the phone with the mental health crisis line for a good while. When I went to work the next day, female co-workers who were normally friendly and cheerful towards me looked at me with disgust or walked in the other direction when they saw me coming. I went home early that day after taking another panic attack in the bathroom. Later that night I had a missed phone call from our local police. Called back, hoping it was just a prank call, but it wasn't. An officer actually wanted to speak with me about some grave accusations that were brought to him. It turns out the hobby shop woman and other she knew collectively called in "anonymous tips" about me, but in those tips I wasn't a "violent rxpist". Instead, these tips included where I worked and told the police I was "dangerous to children". I remember nearly passing out on the phone from panicking again. Turns out the officer I was spoking to already suspected it was BS, because these groups were generating hundreds of "anonymous tips" a day for them. The investigation was closed and branded as "malicious gossip" and I never heard from the police again.
Despite that, my reputation was ruined forever. My partner at the time actually had my back and was a huge pillar of support, but I was still a wreck. I became a recluse and started going to therapy every couple of weeks. In our local group, old posts of guys are "bumped" all the time whenever a guy is found on a dating site or women remember he exists. The group has nearly doubled in size since then too. Posts aren't even about dangerous people, but I'll see posts all the time like "This guy just matched with me and hasn't messaged me yet, any tea??" and even random creep shots of guys at the gym saying things like "This guy is super cute, any tea or red flags??" I see nothing to do with "safety" and actual dangerous dudes I've known over the years haven't appeared there at all. Old classmate kidnapped and nearly beat his partner to death? No post. Dude admits to mxlesting his partners toddler? No post. Guy doesn't buy a gal a gift after a date? He's a monster and must be posted about. It was easy enough to get in there with a dummy account to make sure I wasn't caught off guard again.
---Fast forward to today. I unfortunately find myself single when I never thought I would be again. I'm still somewhat of a recluse, don't keep any photos of my name on social media, nor do I use my real name. I've disappeared as much as possible. I'm still terrified that someone there will remember I exist and post about me again, as I see happen to other men daily. Dating websites are just asking for trouble, as most posts in this group are screenshots of guys profiles. If I dare take a photo of myself and put it in a dating website, odds are very good I'd be posted and would have to suffer through the same ordeal yet again. I can't afford (nor could I back then) the several thousands of dollars to take someone to court for slandelibel, and Facebook says these posts aren't against their "community standards". Even then, that's like cutting a single head off of a hydra knowing that more will take it's place. Meeting people IRL just doesn't happen anymore and it's frowned upon to try to meet women in public settings as opposed to online dating where they can screen everyone beforehand. Online dating is no longer safe for me. How am I to ever be with someone again if OLD is off the table and I have a destroyed reputation?

Slander works and my reputation has been destroyed and people think I'm some kind of monster. A few years ago, one of our children was lured into a sex trafficking circle. I worked tirelessly with the Longmont PD posing as our child to bring the 9 felonies Andrew Sebastien Rosa is charged with. When police were ready to make an arrest, Rosa went on the run and is facing natiowide extradition. Our family was approached last year by the producers of "In Pursuit with John Walsh" and asked if we would be willing to film an episode. It was our child's decision every step of the way, each "yes" to this had to come from them. We sat down with Calahan Walsh last January to film an episode anonymously, and it was released today, 5/15. It streams on most services. 2024.05.15 19:33 R3DD3Y Issues regarding datapack with custom structures.
Hello everyone. I am working on a Datapack that is meant to add some custom structures for a modpack I am making. I have a issue regarding this though. I have built and succesfully made it so 12 of the 15 structures I built spawn in the world as intended. My issue is, that for some obscure reason, 3 of them ALWAYS cause an error when I try to do anything regarding them. I figured it would be related to the .nbt file for the structure, maybe some entity block causing issues, but no amount of changes to the in-game build fixed it. Afterwards, I tried editing the .json files. I cross-referenced them with already working structures that spawned properly, and there weren't any differences aside from the obvious ones refering to the name for the structure or related paths in the datapack enviroment. I tried copying a file and pasting it, then editing it to match the build I wanted to make spawn, but that still didn't work. As a last ditch effort, I tried packing my datapack in a forge mod format, hoping that it would fix it somehow, but that still didn't help, but now it atleast provides a crash log. From my limited experience, I figured it must be related to memory, so as a last ditch effort I allocated 20gb of ram (I know, not a good idea but listen I was running out of ideas) to the instance hoping it would work, which it didn't end up doing. I am completely out of ideas and I would be immensely thankful for any help or assistance towards figuring this out. I'll attach the crash log, and files related to the structure for now, in-case someone who is smarter than me can figure out what's wrong and point out the errors I might've made. If need be, I can attach the entire datapack with all structures for further scrutinization in-case something may interact badly, but for now I'll just append what I mentioned earlier.
Before anything though, I want to mention that the structure is built with TerraFirmaCraft blocks and items, so it won't work without it installed.

Yesterday marked my 4th solo day at the Ridge Racetrack in Shelton, WA, and it was a blast. This track, nestled in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains with views of the Cascades and Mt. Rainier, is relatively new but absolutely fantastic. I'm getting quicker and now running with the high-intermediate group, often leading in passes with minimal point-bys. I managed a decent lap time of 1:58.73 yesterday, considering I'm using Michelin PS4S tires. The first couple of days this season were incredibly wet, typical for the PNW, but it was a valuable learning experience navigating through rain and understanding the limits of traction. Trust me, standing water is not your friend! But the last two days have been dry and glorious, allowing me to truly appreciate the capabilities of these cars. If you've never pushed beyond 8/10ths, you're missing out on discovering the full potential of your vehicle. Having a seasoned instructor ride with me really opened my eyes to the untapped grip and racing lines, showing me there's so much more to these cars than meets the eye. As some of you might know, I've upgraded my car with power enhancements like a tune, OAPs, and Soul Street headers. Along with a track alignment and the most aggressive stock setup, the handling improvements are significant, making turn-ins much smoother. I've got 19-inch forged wheels on order and plan to fit them with Nankang tires. While many suggest sticking with the PS4S for now to sharpen driving skills, I'm eager to explore the potential of these upgrades. I've also invested in Open Track Insurance for the whole year, intending to make the most of it with over 15 track days planned for this season, sprinkled with some AutoX sessions. My GT4+ Touring project is nearing completion; it's essentially my fully modded GTS with performance and aesthetic enhancements. I'm excited to share dyno test results and comparisons of tunes, along with other upgrades, when I return from Hawaii in a few weeks. I absolutely adore my car and didn't anticipate diving so deeply into tracking and performance driving. However, I still cherish cruising around Seattle and its backroads with my wife. That said, I'm contemplating the idea of getting a GT4 RS. While it's undeniably a track beast, I have reservations about its practicality for everyday driving in Seattle and the substantial price hike. Financially, I could swing it, but it might not be the wisest move, especially since my GTS is nearly paid off. But the allure of the 4 RS's track prowess is hard to resist. If production were ongoing, I probably wouldn't even consider it, given how much I still have to learn. Yet, knowing time is ticking, it could be a vehicle I grow with over the next decade. But is it worth sacrificing those warm summer evening drives with my wife for track dominance? Decisions, decisions. This is literally most of my losses. It's making me not want to play anymore. Feels like 6/10 of my games have this problem. It's getting way out of hand the amount of people who cry about something and then poof, their gone. To go 15+ kills and then to lose due to dc us so aggravating. To do everything right and still lose because of this is so aggravating. I report and report but it's not even worth the time it takes to report.
Make it so If there is a dc or an afk player, 3/5 to surrender, or let us leave without consequence. So I can actually play the game after a hard day at work instead of waiting 30+ min because my team won't surrender even thought we have no inhibitors and the core is at half.

My wife and I have been together for nearly 20 years. In our first year together as 18 year olds, she was very sexually adventurous, seemed to desire me, we had a lot of fun. I've always had a very high libido and romantic/sexual desire for her. She's seemed to have a very low libido and interest in me that way. I started initiating much less and just accepting that is how it is between us, but I love her and desire her and want to be with her regardless. I got used to sex once a week being good, and often times once a month being common.
Over the years I gained weight, and she's gone up and down in weight. I think part of me wasn't that worried about my weight and how I looked because I felt like she didn't care anyway since she didn't seem all that sexually interested in me. I learned that she was "infatuated" with a work colleague a couple years ago, but never did anything inappropriate.
This all sent me in a cycle of depression, and reconciliation with her, where we had many conversations and talked through it all over months. I lost a lot of weight and now look and feel better than I have in 15 years. She insists that she loves only me, is attracted to me, but she had struggles and wasn't prioritizing the right things in life and vows to to better and love me better.
This is where I'm having trouble. I feel like we're on such different wavelengths and she doesn't put in much effort toward the things I ask.
When we were reconciling, she said one thing that would help her feel closer is having scheduled date nights, and she suggested we take turns leading them. I don't enjoy scheduling things as much, but wanted to do it for her. When we started the date nights, I took it seriously and tried to plan special, romantic things for her, tried to surprise her, wrote her a love letter, etc. Then when it was her turn to plan a date night, she didn't plan anything and said, "I was thinking we could play a board game together." This disappointed me the first time, but I didn't say anything, but then it continued. I put in effort, planned things, tried to be romantic, and she seemed to forget about them or come up with an idea at the last minute. So I stopped putting in effort, too, and then surprise, the date nights stopped.
I put care into my appearance all the time and try to look good for her. I keep my beard trimmed and shaved, cut my own hair, try to wear clothes she likes, and even started trimming my pubes because I like it and thought she might as well. She rarely acts like she notices the things I do, and she doesn't seem to really care much.
On the flip side, she gained quite a bit of weight from the birth of our children and hasn't lost much yet after quite a bit of time. I know from experience how hard that is and for women especially. But the part that bothers me is how she seems to not really worry at all about her appearance for me or looking good for me. She knows which clothes I like on her, how I really like her hair, how I like her pubic hair, whatever, and she doesn't do it. To her, it's because she doesn't have the time or is so busy. She'll fart near me or blow her nose really loud next to me constantly. I'll try to nicely hint that I don't like it, but she'll do it anyway.
The other day, my wife walked by me naked and made some flirtatious comment to me "hey, you didn't even try to sneak a peek." But it made me sad because I realized that over our 20 years together, she very rarely if ever looks at me sexually when I'm naked after a shower, she very rarely has come up to grab by butt or act like she wants me, but I've always done those things to her over the years. She'll on rare occasion make a comment about wanting to do something romantic or sexual, and then later when the time comes, she says nothing about it and acts like she completely forgot she ever said that.
I'm feeling less attracted to her overall, and for the first time maybe ever, I'm not really wanting to have sex with her as much. I've never been with any other woman in my life (she was with others before me), and I don't really want to be, but I do want to feel desired and like someone is really attracted to me and cares. I want to feel romantic and adventurous and not like an old man even though I'm still young.

How it happened:
- https://steamcommunity.com/id/sifyy1399/ - the "buyer" contacted me, adding me as friend. I was stupid to accept.
- They offer to buy my Australium StickyBomb Launcher , but they really want to trade it soon so they don't want to wait the 7 days that Steam impose before one can trade. They offer to pay me by Paypal. Already a red flag I guess.
- I say sure, but give me the money first, so that I can't get scammed. They want to use a Middleman, sounds fair. They offer someone on the mentioned subreddit, and after a while, they offer Vaughn who is 4th on the list there. That's my next mistake - allowing them to pick. Though maybe it doesn't matter if all those listed are in it together (or are the same person).
- I'm suspicious at first but eventually give in and send the Middleman the item, waiting for the money.
- The "buyer" suddenly has a problem, he "can't send any less than 300 USD" for some arbitrary reason, wants to continue anyway. Obviously, here I'm already picking something is horribly wrong.
- They want me to buy 150 keys from Mann. Co Store and then they'll send me 300$ and I will give them the keys. For 1.55$ each that sounds like a good deal as 300$ cover it and the item too, but I'm not that stupid, obviously I say no. It's clear to me now they're scamming me, but I'm trying to get back what I can.
- After talking to them for a while and realising they are indeed trying to scam me, I'm trying my last resort and go back to the "Middleman", asking them to give me back my item while explaining the situation.
- The "Middleman" for some reason refuses, claiming that it is not their problem that the "buyer" cannot pay their part of the deal. Realise now that I'm done.
- They both unfriend me and the item is sold by the "middleman" to some bot, as can be seen in item history here.

I’ve been binging greys anatomy for the millionth time while pregnant. I normally skip the pregnancy trauma since I don’t want to freak myself out, BUT the episode (s18e20) where the cancer patient gives all his blood from his ecmo treatment to his wife who had a placental abruption had me crying my eyes out. He got to meet his son for just a moment before he died and he told his son, “Hello forever.” (Reference to his inside joke/endearing greeting to his wife)
I know it’s just the pregnancy hormones making me cry (maybe) but I’m not normally a fan of the later seasons last season 15. But this story line brought me back to the epic love stories and in depth patient stories that we used to get in the first few seasons.
