Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED Earphones Review
A job change and all sorts of other adventures made me take some time off from the reviews. But, as the saying is, "Don't count on it!" — there will be a lot of them in the short run, and they will be interesting, well balanced and spot on!
In short, let's talk today about the in-ear wired earphones Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED (or just RED later on), which I purchased for about $55 you know where.
https://preview.redd.it/9ywolwakyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57da9791a73200cc6d3c99ce8a3c061657ae7bb8
By the way, my old camera broke down, so I bought a new one, that's why the pictures will be even more unbelievably brilliant now. Come on and get a look, all the pictures are clickable, as always.

Truthear in a nutshell

Truthear, a Chinese company, has just turned 2 years old, but they have already released 5 models of earphones and one portable DAC. The company was allegedly founded by one or more Moondrop people. With all the trimmings of modern Chinese fashion, Truthear has a mascot, which is an anime girl named Shiroi, weighing 45 kg, 170 cm tall and... I have no idea why I say all this.
Their partner in the field of 3D printing technology is HeyGears, whose equipment or capacities, I believe, Truthear uses to produce its devices (at least, earphones).

What's included

The proud owner of this top-quality cardboard box will find in it as follows:
https://preview.redd.it/ea3yvoxpyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd5ea91ac6fdb1ec11c76dd3f8c77c81b7b7b7e9
1. the earphones themselves;
2. a cable with a 3.5 TRS connector;
3. an adapter with an additional load of 10 Ohms (I'll tell you why we need it later);
4. a set of 7 pairs of eartips;
5. a fair-to-middling cover made of faux leather;
6. a pile of papers with the image of Shiroi.
The box, I will repeat myself, is perfectly made, I've never seen anything like this. I'm totally cool with the set, it's a good one.

Technological features, build quality

RED use a less common structure 'a larger dynamic driver + a second smaller dynamic driver'. The first one is responsible for the subbass and bass up to 200 Hz and has a diameter of 10 mm, and the second one plays the rest of the range and has a diameter of 7.5 mm.
The manufacturer talks about the 'CCAW voice coil', that is, about the fact that the driver coil is made of copper-plated aluminum wire. Usually, when it applies to headphones, this is made to reduce the weight of the driver's mobile system. This technology is not new: for example, it is also used in Moondrop Aria Snow.
Besides, 'DLP', or 'Digital light processing', 3D printing technology is mentioned. This is a three-dimensional printing process, characterized by high accuracy and the ability to correctly reproduce extremely small details.
And the last but not the least, the earphones are optimized for use at high volume (over 94 dB) and configured in accordance with the 'IEF Neutral 2023' curve by Corin Ako (better known as Crinacle), but with some adjustments in the bass and subbass sections, giving the sound of RED more weight and physicality.
So, RED are earphones printed on an industrial 3D printer, based on a 2-driver scheme. And Crinacle, a well-known reviewer and owner of the largest IEM measurement database, is responsible for tuning RED.
The earphones have a simple but distinctive design. The enclosures are completely glossy and slightly transparent on the inside. On the outside, there are mildly glaring red inserts under a coat of varnish.
https://preview.redd.it/5og1uxwsyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b0403d22e9fcb489cf8da789149869145fcf8349
You can discern bass speakers inside at a definite angle.
https://preview.redd.it/9v2r688uyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=846183aa032e50b66ae4344c5af8fe6109e1cc26
The grids of the sound ducts are neat, inserted smoothly.
https://preview.redd.it/6b569ycvyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a2a9a4c28e277808efd6e80c2b767457ee7e640
There is one compensation hole per each earphone, located in close proximity to a 2-pin connector. L and R are marked in bright golden letters. Small edgings for fixing the eartips were made, too.
Overall, they are quite good and even stylish. The only issue is microscratching that affects the enclosure right off the bat. But it's not really perceptible to the eye.
On top of that, the earphones act as a magnet to fingerprints.
The cable is just decent. It doesn't get too tangled, and the earholders are made at the right angle. The metal splitter is solid black, with the company logo printed on it.
https://preview.redd.it/c7331knwyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d66836329928887b3fc396b7bb6596bf486eae20
The very same cable comes with Truthear HEXA and Zero earphones.
The case is made decently, too, but it does not have any internal compartments or partitions. I already wrote about how an adequate case should be designed 5 years ago – no one has released anything alike yet.
https://preview.redd.it/3rbvma2zyu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc21b72be8af06e6cd816a5903135b0e1255c46a

Ergonomics

The geometry of the RED enclosures turned out to be perfectly compatible with my ears. They don’t have any strange concavities, bulges, or sharp edges, the sound ducts are positioned at a natural angle, the dimensions of the enclosures are... ordinary, only a little thick. Just put them in and listen to music. And they don't have much weight at all.
I'll assume that the sound ducts may turn out to be uncomfortably large for owners of small ears, because, let's be honest, these are not sound ducts, they are simply muzzles. Probably, when you get a first taste of these earphones, you will want to change your favorite eartips for the same, but smaller ones.
The flipside is the noise insulation — RED's one is above average because the earphones fit in tightly.
As for the 10-Ohm adapter, it is not convenient to use it on the go: a few centimeters long, thin rigid structure will stick out of the player audio output, which can easily damage the connector if stressed accidentally.

Quick specifications overview

  • Design: in-ear closed-back.
  • Drivers: 2 dynamic drivers.
  • Impedance: 18 Ohms.
  • Sensitivity: 117 dB.
  • Connectors: classic 2-pin, 0.78 mm.
  • Weight: 6 g (each earphone).

Subjective sound impression

RED sound great: balanced and new at the same time. Imagine that a 'top-up' of a very weighty and fast subbass was added to neutral sound delivery, which never overlaps the bass for a moment, not a iota, let alone the mid-frequency range. What's more, a lot of well-articulated high frequencies were poured in (we're talking about the 3-10 kHz range), but not those that get sandy, filled with sibilants that grate on the ear. They are just heard very well. This is, you know, sort of 'a joy of a HF-phobe who still wants a lot of HF'. With this in mind, the middle range is perceived to the utmost, there are no dips and curbs there, and it is just excellent.
The result is a 'smooth', but vibrant and simultaneously informative sound delivery with a stable low-frequency basis, perceived as 'dynamic' and 'detailed'. It is ten kinds of cool, simply brilliant tuning that retains its uniqueness and accuracy far beyond the price category of these earphones.
Against the background of the high frequencies delivered in this fashion, RED have a clear and wide virtual sound stage with a clear localization of instruments. It could be better, but in a very, very different price bracket.
Why the RED sound might not work for someone:
  • The sound is not 'thick'. And that's exactly how a normal bass, separated from the subbass, not affecting the midrange, sounds like.
  • "I hear something that's out of place". When mixing, the authors decided to make the recording 'brighter' or simply did not handle the sound very carefully, having thought that no one would hear the nuances. If this was the case, RED will let you hear weird synthetic glide sounds, abrupt high-frequency sounds etc. To cut it short, you will hear a lot of blatant defects in the music poorly recorded and mixed, as well as a lot of new and amazing things in the well-recorded and -mixed one.
  • There's not enough subbass. And here comes the 10-Ohm adapter included. Upon its connection, the bass and subbass are raised by 3 dB (see the next section). Even if everything is fine with your subbass perception, when using RED in an urban environment, the low-frequency range being masked with external sound sources may require the usage of this adapter.
  • The ultra-high frequency range (from 10 kHz and above) could be more delicate. Actually not, it couldn't because the earphones cost 5,000 rubles and not 50,000.
  • To sum up, in terms of frequency balance, the RED sound is truly unique and one of a kind. For me, RED have become the first in-ear headphones in a month of Sundays that made me freeze on the spot when listening to music that I've been familiar with for a lifetime.

Measurements

The earphones were connected to the RME ADI-2 DAC (IEM output). A measuring rig conforms to the IEC60318-4 standard. The provided eartips were used for measurements. The smoothing is indicated on the graphs. For the info about rigs, graphs and headphones measurements, refer to my article.
Frequency response:
https://preview.redd.it/eri2gsdezu0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=290174f139b73f2f312471e985e624548293bc9b
Keep your eye out for the dashed green line – this is the target curve conventionally named Crinacle Neutral Target 2023. This target curve was proposed by Ako in April 2023 as an alternative to the Harman curve, which is appreciated by far from everyone. The diffuse field curve measured at the Type 5128 rig manufactured by Brüel & Kjær was used as a basis, which was then transferred to the IEC711 rig and 'tilted' clockwise. Why it was done and why this way – I will try to answer these questions in detail in another article on the theoretical part of measurements, but I won't go deep at the moment.
What matters is that this is not just a tuning. This is a very specific tuning that has been contemplated on for quite a while.
To put this in perspective and see something more common, here is the frequency response of RED and the most current Harman curve:
https://preview.redd.it/hi0j1bkuzu0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8fd9854f18d81798fc43e769f6eca16027dbb144
And the situation here is very interesting:
  • up to 200 Hz, the RED frequency response corresponds to the Harman curve in shape;
  • 200 Hz are 'sunk', and this is what gives a feeling of elastic, full-fledged subbass;
  • at low frequencies and in the middle, there is a smooth addition of up to 2 dB at maximum;
  • the midrange rise is shifted from 2.7 kHz slightly to the right;
  • peaks after 13 kHz are most likely aberrations of the rig, I personally do not hear them.
Does such sound tuning have a right to life? My ears tell me that yes, more than that.
As a reminder, there is a 10-Ohm attenuator included.
https://preview.redd.it/gna9eigwzu0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb2c1b9ed0b29c76a2e156215626383ff72c6ca4
When it is connected, the left part of the frequency response graph rises predictably, and the sound becomes more 'common':
https://preview.redd.it/n5egvhryzu0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b3d26d901780a7eca911071bd68f838b2ce6b88
The left/right volume balance is not ideal, but acceptable:
https://preview.redd.it/iwsc9mh00v0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e7fb32e88c180e2183a53c7747464d5ab8382ef5
Nonlinear distortions (these are measurements that should not be 100% trusted because my equipment is far from perfect):
https://preview.redd.it/m8ozge320v0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b47fde9e64b1857e633b8adebc82a2f182f5da6

Sound source choice

For my listening tests, I've connected the earphones to the following devices.
  • PC + RME ADI-2 DAC fs (IEM output) – unbalanced connection
  • PC + RME ADI-2 DAC fs ('High Power' mode) – unbalanced connection
  • Hiby R6 gen 3 ( Gain – High, Amplifier Operation – Class AB/A)
The sources were switched by a mechanical input switch.
With Hiby R6, the earphones' sound is a little more bassy and solid. I didn't hear any other difference in the sound of RED when using various sources.

Eartip choice

I didn't like the eartips provided.
https://preview.redd.it/ibe7nc860v0d1.jpg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fbd68bf567e714ad6809423295c8e0b049af3048
Three left pairs have a clearly smaller diameter compared to one of the sound duct and are just difficult to pull on. The right pairs fit the sound ducts easier, but just like the left ones, they're not really soundproof.
As for foam eartips, I just don't like them.
In short, I tested RED with TRI Clarion, and the same I recommend to you. The fit is comfortable, deep and tight enough.

Comparisons

PLEASE NOTE: everything I say below is only applicable to the earphones from the point of view of comparison to other models, nothing more!

RED vs. Truthear HEXA

The Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED and Truthear HEXA frequency response graphs compared:
https://preview.redd.it/690dctkb0v0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=901456e8b5ae27dfe60ab024099b82a41dd4f49a
Subjective difference in sounding
  • RED are much bassier as compared to HEXA.
  • HEXA have a more pronounced middle range and less accentuated upper frequencies.
  • However, the upper frequency range of HEXA is less even, so the peak of nearly 7.5 kHz is perceived more clearly with HEXA.
Compared to each other, RED's sound can be called 'V-shaped', with their sound delivery more versatile, whereas HEXA are more 'reserved' and 'neutral'.

RED vs. Moondrop May

I'd like to note that comparing RED earphones and, in fact, DAP+earphones, which is what May is, is incorrect. Therefore, below we will talk only about the sound. May were connected via their standard DSP cable, and the equalizer was set to 'Standard'.
The Truthear x Crinacle ZERO: RED and Moondrop May frequency response graphs compared:
https://preview.redd.it/up1nlade0v0d1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10b015a8032de6440aefc8033fde02c579d72268
Subjective difference in sounding
  • May highlight the range of about 6 kHz in a stronger manner, their sound is more sonorous and sharp.
  • The voices in May's interpretation sound noticeably closer.
  • May give the sound a little more 'physicality' and 'dirt'.
Compared to each other, RED's sound can be called more 'neutral' and even 'intelligent', whereas I would characterize May's sound delivery as 'rougher', less 'balanced', more 'subjective'.

Summary

The Chinese economic ramp-up, the development of manufacturing technologies for drivers and enclosures, as well as the development of knowledge about sound in in-ear headphones let us buy a product for $55 in 2024, for which sound they would have charged us good $550 without batting an eyelid and turning a hair 10 years ago, although it seems questionable to me that someone would have been up to such tuning at that time.
And I'm quite agreeable to give credit to Crinacle: while I honestly wrote in the KZ Zex Pro review that the earphones were frankly poorly tuned (whether through Crinacle's fault or not, I have no idea), RED is a completely different story. This is just an example of how to proceed from competence in the field of headphone measurements to successful headphone production.
I am not inclined to believe, of course, that this was a sole effort of Crinacle — everyone sang in harmony, both him and Truthear as the immediate manufacturer.
In general, everything is both clear and complicated about RED at the same time: these are earphones with a universal fit and eminently calibrated tuning, combining neutrality, detail, weight, dynamics and lack of listening fatigue in equal measure. Top it off, there is a 10-Ohm attenuator included for those who 'starve for the lower section'.
To buy or not to buy: to buy, at least just for the fun of learning what kind of tuning is this!

2024.05.16 22:55 WTHreleased Cornsnake stopped eating frozen mice.

We have had our cornsnake since it was very small, and it has always eaten frozen mice or frozen fuzzy rats. However, she has recently stopped. I have tried warming it, making it move, etc. She looks interested, but after investigating is like - nope! She ate a live mouse from PetSmart, but rejected a similarly size rat from a local store (although she did strike it repeatedly, but never wrapped it). I prefer frozen because I understand they are much safer in regards of disease risk, etc.
The only change I have noticed is that she is much more active. Until recently, she stayed hidden in the Aspen bedding. No she comes out and explores her enclosure. She also had quite the growth spurt. I'd say she is about 2.5 feet long now.

My boys enclosure when I first got him to now
We got our boy rado about 4 years ago during Covid as a Christmas gift from our parents. Well they got him for my brother who had done no research on ball pythons, so for about a year his enclosure looked like that. if I'm being honest we did not take good care of him at all enclosure wise as we didn't fully know how to, so I started to research and learn more about them and then I found this sub which has helped so so so much, anyways I wish our parents hadn't have gotten us him without even knowing how to properly take care of him. We originally had him in a very small enclosure (first slide) but last my brother and I saved up enough to buy him a bigger enclosure, decor, and proper heat gauges and lamps. I know there is still work that can be done but I'm very happy for him that he has a proper home and I feel like now I’m fully starting to see how he actually is, before we had anything he would hardly move out of his hide (understandably) but now I see him roaming around more often and climbing.

2024.05.16 22:43 oldzeroKING Aaaaah

Aaaaah
For the past several months there has been a Blood Python for sale at my local Petco. Irresponsibility at a whole new level! I live in a small town so the chances of someone actually buying him are very low, and the chances of said buyer keeping him in a 40 gallon terrarium with a single hide are very high. But it's been months, the poor dude is in a tiny little enclosure with a crappy temperature/humidity gage stuck to the wall, one hide, and coco fiber as the sole substrate, so the requirements for this snake are clearly not being met. Blood pythons are so sensitive that I'm not sure how long he's going to go without getting seriously sick. I would never buy him out of concern since that would mean supporting the corporation. I mean, unless he was on the verge of death. The closest reptile rescue is a few hours away (150+ Miles). This sucks, I'm going to go check to see if he is still there/alive today.
End of random rant, I just needed to hate on Petco publicly. Thanks
Picture just because Blood Pythons are beautiful.

My leopard frog broke his leg and I don’t know what to do
I was looking for my frog before work this morning and strangely couldn’t find him but I needed to leave. I come back this afternoon and am trying to hunt him down and struggled. I finally look on the side of the tank that’s against the wall and saw him squished up between the tank wall and the water feature, clearly stuck.
I move the water feature to let him out and his back right leg looks like it’s bent funny, and he’s not hopping around, just kind of crawling awkwardly.
I’m pretty sure his leg is broken, but he’s a small guy(1 year post metamorphosis) and I don’t think any vets would be able to do anything. Is there anything I can/need to do to help him heal?
First pic is healthy normal frog and second pic I got while he’s hobbling around the enclosure

2024.05.16 21:27 gracieroblox help! should i release my deer mouse??

hey everyone, i’ve been raising an orphaned deer mouse for about 2 weeks now, im guessing she’s about 3 1/2 weeks old, almost completely off formula, eyes open, can eat more solid foods, but still fairly small today she jumped from my hand while feeding and ran into my closet, literally the most nerve wracking 20 minutes of my life. my closet is a MESS so there were piles of clothes everywhere for her to hide in. I carefully tore my closet apparent to find her but not squish her. I can assume this experience for her was just as traumatizing as it was for me. My sister was finally able to catch her as she ran up my arm and got caught in my hair😭 Anyways, got her back in her enclosure and went to place down her food bowl as she climbed up my arm and jumped off my back to scurry back into my clothes😀 luckily we caught her much faster than the first time. this whole story to say, if she’s wanting to escape does that mean she’s unhappy/ ready for release? I know with deer mice especially can become more aggressive/ instinctual after puberty, but she seems a little young for that? also she’s not been aggressive just skittish? but maybe she doesn’t have teeth enough to bite if she wanted? would release be the best thing for her? do i need to bond or play with her more? I choose to save her because i wanted her to live and be happy, as much as i’m attached to her i want what’s best for her, what should i do?

2024.05.16 20:33 SpiderOnDaWall Need some larger enclosure advice

Good day, folks! I recently acquired some Jacksons. Since I have more than one, I picked up an aviary and am working on dividing it for them. I have some questions. I'm struggling to get pictures uploaded so bear with me. I'll work on posting them blelow if Reddit lets me. Note: my guys have nice enclosures to keep them healthy until this is done.
I wasn't sure if I should wrangle plants or sticks in first. In my smaller ones I did sticks first so I did that here, especially since I was adding some larger limbs. At this point, would you pull some smaller twigs out, add the plants, and then put the twigs back in? It'll be tedious no matter what but I figured the experts here would have experience and suggestions.
I have "living wall" I was going to use to assist with plant placement. The hardware cloth on this is a bit wimpy (albeit fully adequate for small birds). How would you reinforce your plant holders? I am envisioning a thinner strip of wood like a yard stick. Attach on the inside or outside?
Next, the light. USB/LED from ZooMed. I have 2 of these. Would you use both to assist with plants and UVB availability? I can easily fit both up there with basking lights.
Lastly, the bottom is just a few panels of hardware cloth with a tray under it. For ease of cleaning, should I put something on the bottom that can be wiped up?
Any feedback is welcome. If it's a nastygram, please include some proactive solutions. (Come on, some of you know how you are.) It's obviously not completed. It's at a point where I can still change things before I finish the divider and close everything up. Feel free to ask me questions, too.
Thanks, Team. You helped build my skills to get to this point.

2024.05.16 20:24 mutantluv Should I Upgrade My Snake’s Enclosure?

My black milksnake is around 3 years old now, and has grown to a little over 4 feet. I currently have her in a 40 gallon tank (about 36x18x18 inches), but have recently seen her stretching herself out and her tail going up the walls. She’s never done this before so it’s had me thinking her enclosure may be too small. I’m only hesitant to size up because my room is so small and I’d potentially have to relocate her enclosure. Thoughts? Experience to share? Anything is appreciated!

2024.05.16 17:41 gefecht Looking for plant recommendations for this current setup.

Hello all, I finally finished the hardscape on my paludarium I am working on. This is my first build of this style. (Have built reptile enclosures before)
I am looking for recommendations for types of plants for both land and underwatefloating. I already put in some moss and ferns. This will be for vampire crabs foremost. Looking to put some porthos in the corners.
It is a 45 gallon bow front tank I repurposed. There is approximately 9 to 10 gallons of water underneath the landmass. There is an underwater cave system. The water is dark because of tannins/coco fiber that fell in the water. Looking to have that eventually clear up as the tannins are filtered out through water changes.
Currently planning on vampire crabs, possibly a few small fast fish in the water portion. Some shrimp. Already have isopods and springtails. There will still be probably a month before I try to introduce the crabs. (Also, how many could I have without crowding in this size paludarium)
Attaching a few pictures to give a general idea of where it is currently. I apologize for picture quality) There is a stream/ waterfall that feeds quite a bit of the land area. Humidity is very easily maintained for up to 97 percent. (Adjustable) Ambient temp is 97 degrees currently. (Also adjustable)
I am open to any and all suggestions. As I believe all animals deserve the best living conditions possible. (Planning on fabricating a top (lid) this weekend.
Thank you.

2024.05.16 17:41 Accomplished_Dust210 Questions for those with Pac-Man frog keeping experience

I’ll be upgrading my Ball Python to a larger enclosure, meaning her 50 gallon tub will be freed up and I’d love to have a Pac-Man frog in there to fill up the space. I’d only be looking to take in an adult Pac-Man frog which someone is rehoming (there’s someone trying to rehome theirs right now and I absolutely would take it if I could). This is because I prefer taking in rehomed animals, but also I can only keep animals that feed infrequently. I leave town for meaningful periods of time where I pay a service to take care of my pets through weekly drop in visits. Pac-Man frogs seem to be a possible fit for my needs but I have some questions hoping someone with experience with Pac-Man frogs could answer.
1.) I know that being taken care of through weekly visits for potentially months at a time is really not ideal for any animal, but I wanted to see if there were any huge objections to this specifically for Pac-Man frogs? Like are my facts wrong that adults could only be fed weekly?
2.) From the outside Pac-Man frogs seem like they create a lot of waste. I’d be doing a bioactive enclosure, even if the pac eats all the isopods the springtails should be good, could they handle a Pac-Man frog turd for potentially a week before it could be spot cleaned? I’ve also heard they’re odorless but is this true? Ig additionally what are the success rates with keeping small isopods with adult Pacs cause I love pods
3.) Do Pac-Man frogs appreciate being in a paladarium, like would they be more enriched with a large aquatic section of an enclosure? I’m aware it’s not necessary but the big reason I’m not looking into pixie frogs is because I know they would like a paladarium, and even though I know they still do fine with just a terrestrial space I’m still gonna wind up guilting myself into spending money making the frog a filtered aquatic space. If Pacs just won’t like an aquatic space then I can save myself from this guilt

Okay so to preface, I know I am young and I still have my whole life ahead of me, but this truly feels like something I don't know how to come back from. The beginning is a vent but the last paragraph is the actual question.
TL;DR I was in a completely healthy happy relationship that now after it ended, I don't know how to move on or love again. i feel completely stuck on him and would do anything to get him back.
I (18F) met my ex-boyfriend Nick (20M) after I graduated high school through a mutual friend. He was on a road trip at the time to visit his family back home, he lived across the country from his family for work, I had gotten his Snapchat through one of my close girlfriends who was dating one of his friends. One of the first things I was told was he had never been in a relationship, and never kissed a girl. I thought this was INSANE because if you saw this man (tall, muscular, dark hair and iconic jawline) you wouldn't believe for a second that he doesn't have girls fawning all over him.
Ironically, I had gotten his snap right as he left for this week-long road trip, so the first week we communicated was solely through pictures. I thought he was dry at first, but he was really (and I mean really) cute. I ended up getting the courage to call him so we could properly chat. He was super funny, sweet, and nerdy. I remember I couldn't wait for our first date. Fast forward a month and Nick and I are dating, things are going better than ever. I truly have never felt more loved, supported, and protected than when I was with him. He bought me flowers "just because", and would keep his fridge stocked with my favorite drinks. He taught me how to play chess and video games, would always have a hand on the small of my back, and for the entire length of our relationship, I never so much as touched a door handle.
I have a history of problems with mental health, specifically eating disorders and depression. Even though I was his first relationship, he handled it in stride. I occasionally had panic attacks, and somehow he just knew innately how to deal with them. One thing I had never experienced before was someone lightly blowing on me while having a panic attack, which I have since learned is one of the only things that can calm me down. I had asked him once how he knew what to do and he just said it just "felt right" . That was how things worked with him. He saw a problem and solved it. I barely ever had to ask him to do anything more than once if at all. My family loved him, and he helped my dad out around the house, joked around with my sister, and had a great relationship with my mom. We were the couple my single friends wanted to be like. I had been through so many awful relationships and situationships that I truly thought this was the universe apologizing.
The issue, however, comes down to how we grew up. Nick grew up in a very religious and right-wing state, whereas I grew up more west coast in a relatively liberal area. Before I met Nick, when I started recovery from my ED, I discovered marijuana. Weed was something that genuinely helped me eat, deal with my anxiety, and helped me sleep. I can admit during my senior year of high school I took it a bit far, and definitely smoked more than my fair share. He knew about this early into the relationship, and he never really liked it, but he knew it was part of my life. Being someone who grew up religious, Nick was adamantly anti-weed, and I knew this so while we both knew about my usage, it was kind of an unspoken issue. I never smoked around him, avoided calling or messaging him when I was high to avoid him being uncomfortable, and I did my best to not talk to my friends about weed when around him either.
Fast forward a few more months, and we had plans to go to the zoo after I had gone on a hike with my friends. He picked me up and drove me to a parking lot off the highway and explained that he wanted to talk. I have pretty bad abandonment issues so I immediately went into fight or flight mode and asked if he was breaking up with me. With tears in his eyes, and not looking at me, Nick mumbled yes. Cue the instant and debilitating panic attack from me (arguably the worst one I've ever had). He somehow managed to calm me down enough to talk, and he explained that the weed was a huge issue for him even though he said he was fine with it in the past. I was shocked and blindsided because as far as I knew, we were just going to the zoo. I tried to explain how it helps me and I could quit if he wanted me to, and he said that was not what he wanted. he just couldn't think of me the same way knowing I smoke. While we were talking, I had texted my mom to come get me. We were trying to work things out, at this point we are both crying, he said he loves me and wanted to be with me, but he doesn't think he could get over this. My mom gets to the parking lot, I sort of stumbled to the car, basically holding myself together by a thread. As soon as I closed the door I screamed. A blood curdling scream that held so much anguish and pain that my mom started crying. I truly felt like I had lost a limb.
Those three days without contact were brutal, and on the fourth day, I caved and called him. We met up that day (I called him at 5am and we met up around 6am) and we both apologized. He said he felt like he made a huge mistake, and that he hadn't been able to stop thinking about me. I promised I would stop smoking weed, and we both swore to each other that there would be no more secrets or issues between us, that we would talk about how we feel as soon as we feel like something is wrong.
For a while this worked, the no-smoking wasn't too bad, even though it was still a point of contention between us. But then I started to remember why I smoked in the first place. I became more depressed, food stopped looking good, and I was withdrawing into myself. He noticed this and we talk about it, but ultimately there was nothing we could do, because I knew I would lose him if I went back to smoking.
Things were good for a while, we talked about everything, and every issue got resolved within the week if not the day. I had my person back, and life felt good again. Everything was going smoothly up unitl a few weeks before our 6 months (I know this was a lot to happen in 6 months). I started to feel Nick going distant, not cold or anything, and he said nothing was wrong, but I could tell something was nagging at him. One Monday, he called me and said he wanted to talk. This immediantly raised red flags because last time he said that we broke up. we facetimed and he confessed he was feeling like he wasn't being true to himself in the relationship. He felt like he wasn't going to the gym as often as he wants, and he doesn't have any time to himself. This one conversation ended in him driving to my house, a hours-long confession of everything he had been bottling up, and when he left that evening, I was single again.
My actual question paragraph is below:
I hope now everyone has context for why this relationship was so influencial in my life, and now getting to the part i need advice on. It has currently been about a month and a half since we broke up, and though I was half-hearted trying on dating apps, and I am somewhat talking to a guy right now, I can't stop thinking about Nick. I know if it didn't work out not once but twice, its probably going to happen, but I haven't had such a deep connection so fast before, and I don't want to give up on us just yet. its not that I don't want a relationship right now, but if its not with Nick I don't know if I want one ever, he taught me to never accept less than I deserve, and that I am worth loving and being treated like a princess. I have never felt more appreciated, safe, or cherished than when I was with Nick. Is it worth moving on? Or am I leaving my soulmate? Is it possible to feel love like this again? Is it worth messaging him or will I just get my heart broken instead?
Sorry for the long post, I guess I needed to get stuff off my chest. Any advice or similar experiences are welcomed, thank you!!

2024.05.16 14:20 Bennyrent Enclosure Feedback

Enclosure Feedback
Hi all!
Recovering arachnophobe here ;)
I recently rescued a wild Japanese spood from the inside of my friend’s car. Meet Mr. Tumnus, the Japanese jumping spider from Kyushu.
I’ve had him for over a month now and he seems to be thriving quite well in the dollar-store repurposed spaghetti container. There are airflow holes on the top and sides and tons of nice climbable material, but I was just wondering if this was potentially too small? During the day he is definitely out and about exploring but how big should his enclosure be? Anyway advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated. I’m new to spooding but I’m really really enjoying it!

2024.05.16 13:26 xDracolich My Cat Might Have Osteoporosis, And I'm Looking For Advice On What To Do

For context, back in 2022, my girlfriend and I adopted a kitten from the animal shelter, named her Shuri, and after she got comfortable, we got the most adorable, most cuddly little cat we've ever had. She's an indoor cat, and just turned 2 last month.
A month ago, we noticed that she was limping. The last few months she's had an obsession with crawling up on the highest shelves and places she can find, and she's never really been the most elegant cat, so we thought that might have something to do with it. As one does, we brought her to the vet, and the vet told us that it was just a simple hip fracture, something that should heal with time and rest.
The vet advised us to keep Shuri in a small space for 3 weeks, where she'd have access to a bed, food, water, a scratching post, and her litterbox, so we bought a 120 cm x 120 cm dog enclosure for her to rest in and have now had her in there for 3 weeks as per the vet's recommendation. It was difficult, because she very much did not like being locked up in the enclosure, but we love our cat so much and wanted her to get healthy again.
Then at our vet visit yesterday, the vet told us that she did expect the healing wouldn't go as hoped, but she was surprised to see the x-ray pictures and see that compared to last time, it's like the bone is crumbling, instead of trying to heal. The vet explained it by saying "It's like there's less bone, somehow."
The vet told us that it might be a form of osteoporosis, but she was gonna contact some experts about it and call us back this week (we're still waiting for that). She also informed us that her hip is gonna be treatable with surgery, but that it's gonna cost us up to what correlates to $3000 - money that my girlfriend and I don't have. We were told that the alternative would be having to put our cat down, or giving her away to someone that could afford her surgery. The vet also informed us that even in the case of getting her treated, it was never gonna prevent the same thing from happening to any of her other legs.
We don't know what to do. I know asking a bunch of strangers online for advice is a far stretch, but I desperately want my cat to be her old self again.

In light of my last post about my 3 girls passing, some people liked my set up. He’s some photos for possible inspiration:)
It didn’t always start off like this, if anyone is interested in seeing my very beginner set ups feel free to ask, there’s no shame in having a more basic set up. We all start somewhere.
I had to look up on Pinterest for a load of inspiration, I felt so uncreative.
The biggest help for filling up space were the cork logs (I got them from Etsy in bulk).
Sprays were from a small shop called Hope’s Healthy Treats (UK). Sprays I bought were sorghum, red millet, pearl millet, barley, wheat, flax, oat, and phalaris. 9/10 we’re decorative and they’d spend time chewing the stems so they’d make the sprays headless 🫠
Wheel, hides and watefood bowl were from Amazon.
I used aspen and 2nd cutting Timothy hay as bedding from Amazon.
Coconut soil dig box from Bucatstate (both from Amazon).
I sprinkled Rosewood Naturals Summer Harvest and Nature’s Salad in their enclosure and dig box (Amazon!)
If there’s anymore questions, please feel free to ask:)

2024.05.16 11:46 Defiant-Iron-7960 Antecedent certificate

Hello, I am applying for a visa to start my studies at the University of Groningen and now am to sign the antecedent certificate. However, I do have a criminal charge for possession of a small amount of marijuana which is a criminal offense in my country. This happened in 2018, and was charged/placed on probation for a year in February of 2019. 5 years have passed since then and I believe that in my country after 4-5 years, such offenses are scrubbed for the public, but I'm not sure how deep the ISD can do their checks and see if something happened. Furthermore, I consulted with some lawyers in the Netherlands who advised me that it is better to mention it, rather than the ISD seeing if for themselves, and they told me that since that is not an offense in the Netherlands, it shouldn't pose a problem for acquiring the visa. Could anyone confirm if that would be the case? Thank you.

2024.05.16 11:38 ConceptDisastrous728 Looking for advice for first gecko

Hi!
I am planning to get a Gecko as a new pet and I am wondering which species might best fit my needs. Could you giys help me getting started?
I have limited experience with reptiles.I have had ants and dart frogs in a bio-active setups for a couple years. I really enjoyed the tropical, bio-active style I had for my frogs, so I would prefer such a setup for a Gecko as well.
As for the charactasitics of the gecko, I would like a small - medium sized gecko which can be handled somewhat easily (can be a bit jumpy). As I work full time during the day, I prefer if its a species which is active in the evening/early night, as I won't be able to watch it much during day time. The price tag isn't important to me.
Currently I don't have an enclosure yet, so any recommendations on the size, layout, etc. would be great as well. Or any guide/care sheets/information sources in general! I will definitely setup an enclosure first before buying any gecko.

2024.05.16 07:54 WeirdPen8303 2AM Cannabis DD

Why Cannabis Has The Best "Meme Stock"
Hello fellow regards, its 1:50 AM im high, and im ready to give my first brief DD ever into the cannabis sector. I've been studying the cannabis sector since November, and i would like to give a brief DD on my thoughts. I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL, JUST A DUDE WHOS TIRED AND REALLY LIKES WEED. This saying I might be wrong on some points and this is only my opinion at 2AM. I might try to do another post after more research with everyone's help. if you have any opinions or find any information please leave a comment and lets get high together.
2019-2021: We already know the sector has tanked since 2021 and Canada's announcement into the industry. As some like INCR might have lost momentum from terrorist attacks in Isreal, others like SNDL had a "meme" approach into the U.S Cannabis Debt (SunSteam I believe its called). The important thing is companies overproduced, lost their competitive advantages, and had horrible timing. Whatever the various reasons are, almost the entire sector has taken a hit. Now when you bring up investing to the company, everyone will say "its to risky and has no moat" and yes this is true...or is it?
2023-2024: As vaporizers have had a dominating approach into the market, cannabis "carts" are exposing the younger generations to an easier, "odorless", and convenient way to expose themselves to THC. Think as them as a gateway into the industry, and just like a Juul it exposes new audiences into the market and could create long term relationships. Not only has cannabis found new ways to be innovative, but the industry has seen an unreal amount of new consumers the past decade. And this will only keep growing as we keep removing world wide restrictions overtime like Germany.
Past 6 Months: A new wave of young investors are ready to begin their journeys, now that trading is easier then ever. More then likely they're going to consider cheap stocks as they get high *cough cannabis*. Now im being bias, but coming from this generation shit feels high and im broke. Why would I invest $10 into META right now compared to SNDL? Theirs no doubt the sector has been seeing some of its most profit in years, And as the FDA rescheduling comes into play more then likely by this summer, its only a matter of time until the sector moons.
The Future: Im not a physic but I do have some judgements and opinions about the future of the cannabis sector. Firstly, long or short term many etfs like MSOS or YOLO look incredibly great right now. It'd be safer to play ETF's in the sector for long term investments. This is because of the incredibly small amount of tradable stocks in the sector. Few if any cannabis stocks are American companies, with the majority being Canadian or in the EU. With the amount of competition in the sector, there is a possibility we could see more American cannabis stocks listed on the NASDAQ exchange. Competition is already a killing factor within the industry, a flood of American ipo's could cause more viability in the market, and potential damage or benefit certain stocks.
Final Thoughts: With all this said, I completely understand the fear and hesitance people get when considering investing into the sector. There are many many risky factors, past issues, and future threats. But do NOT let that discourage you from investing just $5 long term. The sector is comparably undervalued compared to how overvalued CGC and Aurora was in 2021. For short term people are anticipating for the FDA reschedule, this would seriously open many doors and more profitable opportunities for the sector. Now the competition needs to be controlled for federal distribution and other meanings. The sector will only gain more popularity overtime=more profit.
Best ETF's: MSOS, CNBS, YOLO, TOKE
Safest As of Rn: GTLS, MSOS, SNDL,
My Favorite: SNDL. MSOS, CGC, CRON, TLRY
Eyeball: ACB, INCR (reddit wont let me post the others to prevent "pump and dumps" but look into hair testing, Colorado, and more stocks east)
Cannabis Is The Best Meme Sector, That Will Make Our Fellow Stoner Regards Even Higher :)

2024.05.16 06:02 Froggy0Eggs Baby help

Hello cockroach Reddit :) I just got a established rehomed exoterra vivarium from somebody. It’s got lots of spring tails and moss. The person I got it from mentioned the possibility of there being babies in the enclosure. Well I was cleaning it today and I found the babies 🙃. I know nothing about hissing cockroaches and there’s a locally owned pet store that will take them off my hands. All I need to know is if I need to feed them and can I handle them, I need to get them into a small container for transport. I’m honestly kinda afraid of them a little so I just wanna make sure I take care of them and they make it to the pet store so they can make it to a nice home. Help!!!!!

2024.05.16 03:38 Big_Drama_2624 Neighbor’s kids will not leave me nor my dog alone

Edits THE LITTLE SHITS DIDN’T LISTEN. Will update upon talking to their parents
TL/DR: Kid’s keep disrespecting my boundaries. The youngest one think she’s entitled to play with my dog whenever she wants and expects me to let her get away with it.
Side note: this is long and I’m sorry but I’m still angry and wanted to vent
So, there are kids that live in my neighborhood who are ages 12m, 11f, 10m and 7f. The 12 and 11 year olds are siblings, the 10 and 7 year old are not. Let’s call the siblings J and T, and the other two R and A.
J and T like any typical brother and sister duo are always fighting on and off. They used to play with each other outside with other kids, but because J is almost a teenager, he prefers to stay inside and game with his friends. Also funny fact, R has an older brother that also games and can often be heard screaming when he loses a match. It’s quite hilarious!
Anyways T, R, and A have been playing together and whenever I step outside I am polite and we have small chats about their day and other things. Sometimes I offer them snacks. I mean who doesn’t like a free cookie?
But here is the problem. Though I am 24, I look like a child. I’ve had to tell the kids more than once that I can’t “play” with them as I am an adult. Not too long ago, I lost my puppy and was devastated. The kids loved her and were at school when this happened and I’m glad they didn’t see what I did, because it was traumatic. My poor baby was hit by my mom’s jeep and she died almost instantly. I just sat there holding her paw crying because I knew she was gone. Just typing this is so hard for me but it’s part of my story. I miss her every day and I cannot stop blaming myself for her death. She was laid to rest in my backyard and I haven’t went to sit with her because I know I would break down again.
Lucky, I was given her little sister from the same litter from the sweet guy my dad got her from. I say “little” because my baby was WAY bigger than her littermate, and the puppy I have now was actually the runt. I was so happy, told the guy thank you over and over and snuggled my new pup. In response she gave me kisses. She sat in my lap the 30 minutes it took us to get home, and cried a few times. Each time she did I would snuggle her and tell her it’s okay and she eventually fell asleep. We’ve been best friends ever since.
Unfortunately for the very first week we had trouble with her. My poor baby had severe separation anxiety and would cry and howl and would refuse to sleep without me with her. Because I am attached to a medical device I couldn’t afford to let her sleep with me as she has tugged on both my infusion set and site (I have an insulin pump) and whenever she did, it hurt. Bad. We almost gave her back and her behavior changed drastically.
She has learned when I leave, I’ll always come back. She has learned it’s okay if she doesn’t sleep with me. She always waits patiently for me to come back home or to wake up. I am always greeted with a tail wag and one happy puppy.
The kids have met her and love her. We have a special enclosure outside for my puppy where she can run and play. The problem is, A has come over more than once and let my puppy out without asking. My dad has caught her each time. This freaks me out. There are several large dogs in our neighborhood with breeds that are considered dangerous and if they aren’t with their owners, said owners get arrested for putting children and other pets into potential danger. One of these dogs literally ate two of my kittens. I am not kidding. Legitimately one of the most gruesome things I’ve ever seen. I cannot imagine losing my baby to those hellions.
A also after letting my puppy loose will often wonder off and my puppy will follow her ACROSS the street which only increases my anxiety as I remember her sister’s death and I would absolutely lose my shit if my puppy got hit by a car. An important thing to note is that A has been dubbed as annoying by older kids and parents because she constantly bothers people wanting to play regardless of age and will just stay in people’s yards until she is forcefully told to go home. My mom and brother do not like this child because of this.
Each time A has done this, both my father and I have gently told her to ask before she takes my dog out to play and that though my puppy is sweet, she could potentially get bitten if she overwhelms her or that she could get in trouble if my dog got hurt or killed.
Did this little girl listen? No the fuck she did not and today was my final straw.
I was laying down and was falling asleep in bed when my dad alerted me that A again took my dog out with her usual excuse. I. GOT. PISSED. I jumped up and threw on some shoes and stomped out to the porch. T and A were playing with my dog. I didn’t yell but said in a stern tone to stop taking my dog out without my permission and that I was going to talk to their parents if this happened again. I told them there is no telling when my puppy gets aggravated by being constantly bothered and they could end up bitten and I also didn’t want her getting hurt or killed. I made a promise to take good care of her. A gave her the usual excuse of wanting to play with my dog with T claiming it “wasn’t her idea.” I was shaking so bad from being angry that I accidentally sliced my finger while preparing my puppies lunch. R who was there saw and heard everything later told me that the girls don’t listen to any adults.
I’m still angry. I have the right to be. I have a feeling this is gonna happen again and ISTG if the parents don’t do anything I’ll take legal action
