I got a knee injury (ACL) about a year ago and I had an operation on february 14th. The doctor told me no change of direction or running for another 3 months. But I can walk well and hike as long as it's not risky for my knee. I can walk around 10-15km without a problem right now, but nothing with high altitude and risky ground.
Since I am a gym teacher, I can't go back to work for another 2 months. Also, me and my girlfriend just broke up about a montg ago so I was thinking it would be a great time to travelš Let's say I am not at my best right now. Injured, no job, no girlfriend and no social since my social is mostly at work or in sports and I can't work or play sport right now.
So I am looking for a place to travel to have fun. I would love a country that is safe and cheap. I don't really have a budget, but 1500-2000$ a month would be my maximum. I speak only french and english. I would love to learn a little bit of the language of the destination, but it is a bit late for that. Ideally, not a destination with high mountains with a lot of hikings. That could be for another trip!

I donāt think Iāve seen any MMOās with old school/retro style graphics. Maybe EverQuest but thatās because of how old the game is. Iād love to start making a game with these simplistic graphics, but would feel like Iām wasting my time in 2024 when all other games are super fancy and complex.

(a throwaway so my sister and enforcers donāt see this) refer to me as Violet
So I (22F) went through some shit the last few years. Couple of years ago I thought I lost my little sister Pow (now 18F), after she threw some homemade grenade which killed my adopted family and my adoptive father, and in the height of my emotions and anger, I slapped the ever living shit out of her, and then this asshole Silco, who had rivalry with my dad, took her away and itās my fault. I shouldnāt have slapped her! I donāt remember how I ended up in Stillwater prison, but I stayed there for like 5+ years. Not going to get into details as per what was I doing there, but it was vile and I donāt really feel comfortable sharing. But all of the sudden, this blue haired enforcer (23F), who I will admit, is fucking hot, asked me if I knew some information about the mob Silco runs, and I thought to myself maybe I could get my little sister Pow back, and I expected the enforcer to send someone to beat the shit out of me, but I was surprised she got me out of prison. I donāt know how, but I didnāt complain. She did save me couple of times over when that sellout bitch (40F) stabbed me with her automated arm powered by Shimmer, and when she treated my wound in the deepest pits.
A day later, we get kidnapped by an old friend of mine, when I tried to reunite with my sister, and he showed us the society he lives in outside of town, and the enforcer showed us that maybe she is not of the asshole enforcers, who are basically criminals in fancy uniforms.
My sister then causes mayhem in the bridge between Piltover and Zaun and I donāt know where my old friend is, and barely managed to escape with the enforcer, with her leg injured, and we got to her house with her mom who met us at the door of her bedroom with a rifle and waited for the enforcer to come back, to reflect and think on the situation in those past few hours, and I love her. My life changed a lot for those few hours, for better or worse, at least Iām not in prison anymore.
Anyway, we went to the council to talk over who attacked a building in Piltover and who created some homemade grenades, and I told them it was my sister Pow, but they called bullshit and made me angry and left and while the enforcer wanted me to come back, I told her oil and water arenāt meant to be. But I shouldnāt have left her. After finding one of the councillors who made some big ass gauntlets, and having a fight to find out about Shimmer shipments from Silcoās associates, I went to beat the ever living shit out of the sellout bitch who stabbed me earlier in The Last Drop, and then I donāt know how, I got kidnapped again and was found in the middle of a pretty creepy place, like a horror tea party, and she said she paid my āgirlfriendā a visit and made her a snack, I thought she killed her, but made her a cupcake instead and brought her here, and I was scared. I didnāt want anybody else to die. And my sister made me choose between her and the enforcer, I love them both, I love my sister, but I couldnāt let her die, and the enforcer untied herself and tried to attack my sister, but instead she went on a berserk and killed Silco and then she went ahead and blew up the council with some powerful rocket.
I donāt know what to do since itās my fault my sister will cause a war and kill a lot many others and the mother of the enforcer. Can you give me any advice? Iām so screwed up right now! Iāll be glad if you Redditors help me out with this situation!

Hello again! Iām not sure if youāve seen my other posts about a fandom roleplay but this one is gonna be about any roleplay in general, fandoms included. Thisāll be pretty detailed and Iāll let you know the parts if you want to skip ahead (I suggest you donāt). If you donāt wanna read all of this, then donāt. This was made for people willing to read blocks of paragraphs and maybe even respond with their own.
INTRODUCTION
My name is Hina. To know more about me, I hail from Japan and I have been an avid writer ever since I moved to the States when I was 11. My second language is English but I believe itās been pretty good. I recently turned 22 years old and I'm female. Talking about age, I would be comfortable with you being 17+ and preferably at least 20. Roleplaying with minors isnāt a big thing for me, I apologize. Iām in the west coast, PST timezone. Letās see.. What other information can I give you? I would say I enjoy skating, basketball, watching tv shows and anime, and reading. My favorite anime is Nana and Death Note.
GENRES + FANDOM
I am not looking for a specific roleplay. I would say iām skilled in all genres. Sci-fi, fantasy, horror, apocalypse. All of that. Even slice of life, though that depends on what type of plot exactly. To be more specific on each genre, starting off with fantasy, I'm more used to high fantasy and mythology. Iām not that great with medieval, unfortunately. DnD based role plays arenāt really fit for me and I struggle playing with species like ogres. Just putting that out here. For fantasy, I donāt have any specific ideas.
Sci-fi is the genre I have more skill in. Most of my roleplays are based off of them! Specifically, Iām fine with all subgenres of that.
For other genres like horror and apocalypse, I do have some taste. I really like monsters and creepy things from the horror genre like vampires and all of that and I even have my own idea set up in older times dealing with vampire lords and hunters and all of that. I also enjoy eldritch type horror. I also like that one sun genre of it, like video game horror? Iām not sure how to describe it. I also forgot if it even has an official name or if itās just something used to describe the horror genre. I like Resident Evil, so maybe thatāll tell you the type of horror I usually enjoy. I do have a developed idea of something more eldritch horror.
More on fandoms! To get some other things down, I usually only play OC unless the character you want me to play is one I know more about and I'm more comfortable playing. The fandoms I like in the more anime way are Jojoās, Nana, Death Note, JJK, AOT, Haikyuu, and probably more. Iām well versed in the Jojoās, Aot, and JJK fandoms but less knowledgeable on Death Note since iāve only seen it once. Other fandoms iām in include ATLA, TLOK, Harry Potter, Resident Evil, Marvel, DC, and many more.
CHARACTERS
I tend to use character sheets to describe my character, these usually consist of names, background, and personality. More so on appearances, I prefer using animated or drawn references than real life people. I enjoy good enough references where I get the idea of how the character would look like.
The types of characters I write are either the lone wolf type that has some sad past which leads them to want to join someone for a redemption arc or the bubbly character who is the one that brings the mood up and is usually seen as trustworthy and of that kind.
I like all types of tropes, especially enemies to lovers or rivalry. I also really enjoy opposites attract as a whole from either opposite personality or something else they would be opposites in. Enemies to lovers takes my heart, though. I love seeing the characters go past the urge to ultimately hate each other and/or go past their usual way of disliking the others lineage or upcoming.
REQUIREMENT
I think this is my last paragraph on the roleplay. Itās the most important, at least. Requirements. All roleplay searches come with them. Or at least thatās what I heard! But donāt fret, there isnāt much.
Iāve seen this as one of the most used requirements, and I agree with it. As someone whoās first language wasnāt English, I understand that you may not be great at it. But please, I do require a partner that at least has proper use of grammar and punctuation. You donāt even have to use big words or anything, just at least know where to put your periods and the placement of your words.
My second requirement is for you to be LITERATE! Please. Iām a big writer, I tend to ramble on and tend to write more than what I thought I would. (like iām doing right now) I write multiple paragraphs from the starter until the scene relaxes. I also understand that sometimes writing big blocks of words every response is tiring or boring so I donāt expect it all the time, at least after the starter has been made and in more important scenes. Dialogue also cuts my replies shorter.
Please please please be polite in OOC! We may just be role playing together but kindness goes all ways. If we do include OOC, I enjoy talking about many things. My day, movies, games, funny moments and stories, all of that!

INTRODUCTION
My name is Hina. To know more about me, I hail from Japan and I have been an avid writer ever since I moved to the States when I was 11. My second language is English but I believe itās been pretty good. I recently turned 22 years old and I'm female. Talking about age, I would be comfortable with you being 17+ and preferably at least 20. Roleplaying with minors isnāt a big thing for me, I apologize. Iām in the west coast, PST timezone. Letās see.. What other information can I give you? I would say I enjoy skating, basketball, watching tv shows and anime, and reading. My favorite anime is Nana and Death Note.
GENRES + FANDOM
I am not looking for a specific roleplay. I would say iām skilled in all genres. Sci-fi, fantasy, horror, apocalypse. All of that. Even slice of life, though that depends on what type of plot exactly. To be more specific on each genre, starting off with fantasy, I'm more used to high fantasy and mythology. Iām not that great with medieval, unfortunately. DnD based role plays arenāt really fit for me and I struggle playing with species like ogres. Just putting that out here. For fantasy, I donāt have any specific ideas.
Sci-fi is the genre I have more skill in. Most of my roleplays are based off of them! Specifically, Iām fine with all subgenres of that.
For other genres like horror and apocalypse, I do have some taste. I really like monsters and creepy things from the horror genre like vampires and all of that and I even have my own idea set up in older times dealing with vampire lords and hunters and all of that. I also enjoy eldritch type horror. I also like that one sun genre of it, like video game horror? Iām not sure how to describe it. I also forgot if it even has an official name or if itās just something used to describe the horror genre. I like Resident Evil, so maybe thatāll tell you the type of horror I usually enjoy. I do have a developed idea of something more eldritch horror.
More on fandoms! To get some other things down, I usually only play OC unless the character you want me to play is one I know more about and I'm more comfortable playing. The fandoms I like in the more anime way are Jojoās, Nana, Death Note, JJK, AOT, Haikyuu, and probably more. Iām well versed in the Jojoās, Aot, and JJK fandoms but less knowledgeable on Death Note since iāve only seen it once. Other fandoms iām in include ATLA, TLOK, Harry Potter, Resident Evil, Marvel, DC, and many more.
CHARACTERS
I tend to use character sheets to describe my character, these usually consist of names, background, and personality. More so on appearances, I prefer using animated or drawn references than real life people. I enjoy good enough references where I get the idea of how the character would look like.
The types of characters I write are either the lone wolf type that has some sad past which leads them to want to join someone for a redemption arc or the bubbly character who is the one that brings the mood up and is usually seen as trustworthy and of that kind.
I like all types of tropes, especially enemies to lovers or rivalry. I also really enjoy opposites attract as a whole from either opposite personality or something else they would be opposites in. Enemies to lovers takes my heart, though. I love seeing the characters go past the urge to ultimately hate each other and/or go past their usual way of disliking the others lineage or upcoming.
REQUIREMENT
I think this is my last paragraph on the roleplay. Itās the most important, at least. Requirements. All roleplay searches come with them. Or at least thatās what I heard! But donāt fret, there isnāt much.
Iāve seen this as one of the most used requirements, and I agree with it. As someone whoās first language wasnāt English, I understand that you may not be great at it. But please, I do require a partner that at least has proper use of grammar and punctuation. You donāt even have to use big words or anything, just at least know where to put your periods and the placement of your words.
My second requirement is for you to be LITERATE! Please. Iām a big writer, I tend to ramble on and tend to write more than what I thought I would. (like iām doing right now) I write multiple paragraphs from the starter until the scene relaxes. I also understand that sometimes writing big blocks of words every response is tiring or boring so I donāt expect it all the time, at least after the starter has been made and in more important scenes. Dialogue also cuts my replies shorter.
Please please please be polite in OOC! We may just be role playing together but kindness goes all ways. If we do include OOC, I enjoy talking about many things. My day, movies, games, funny moments and stories, all of that!

Helllllooooooo bbs, I'd like to announce that THE WINTER IS OVER, the sun is out, we are getting new sunglasses because we lost all of them at parties last year (no? just me? goddamn berghain took like 3 pairs, alongside my dignity), we are showing skin, sweating balls, getting hornier again, annnd.... Entering festival season, so let's talk about that.
This weekend we have three festival contenders:
Awakenings Upclose (timetable)
Big, big up to Awakenings programming/booking and marketing team. Awakenings until now felt like a festival to avoid, but somehow, Upclose seems to be the place to be. Everyone I know and their mother will be there, including me, but not my mother. She's coming to Lofi for Die Rakete in two weeks, but that's another story.

I would have absolutely loved if they did some non-standard stuff like one of the big hard techno names playing a surprise, unnanounced sunrise house set in Bret (can you please take a moment and imagine SNTS doing it), or do open decks w/ the Funk Assault babes and Beau Didier, Isaiah, and idk Flits and Hitam? Not gonna happen, but a girl can dream, right.

If you're done with techno for the day and want to go shake your ass, wave your spine and wiggle your elbows, this is the one. - I am still haunted by memories of what Nelly did to me at Ratherlost NYD, one person I don't want to publicly shame (I miss you u/bleepbloopbarbatruc, and btw I finally kinda learn to spell your username) said "Nelly is a warmup DJ, can't really imagine her in a different slot" - SO DAMN WRONG. She absolutely killed the preclosing slot with a a tense, organic/tribal, deep, terrifying set that just filled the air in the room with something. Yeah yeah, going that deep is not everyone's thing, but hey, house isn't either, blabla.
- I haven't heard DINA play in person yet but I did my research and I'm excited. She can definitely pull off a wormhole, but isn't afraid to step out of it as well and play something actually euphoric, or heavy hitting borderline tekno, and yeah, she just has š„rangeš„ and definitely knows how to use it, I don't know who decided to book her there but THANK YOU.
- and of course, KI/KI. It's always a treat to get someone so big/popular, talented and good to play in an intimate venue, and on top of this, KI/KI and RAUM go way way wayyyyy back and you can just feel the love there.

Hellooo! As Vibrant we have another event on the night of 18th of May with Nur Jaber, Bours?, and 7Circle. It will be at the OZ room of melkweg, with an intimate atmosphere and no phone policy. We are designing own lights once again with Kraft Und Licht as well. Also we are going to have art exhibitions.I'll just add that I saw Nur Jaber closing Berghain once, and it sounded like forks in a high speed mixer while your aggressive neighbor is trying to kick your front door in. This was a compliment. Nur Jaber is cool, because she also does this.

Playing a b2b with yourself all night long feels like a recipe for a personality disorder, or you already have to have one to come up with this idea. Jokes aside, Talismann is good, so is Makam, this is a cool, novel, and deranged idea, I can get behind this.

Longtime lurker, first time poster. Aspirational chubby traveler looking to book my very first luxury hotel stay this weekend. It'll be a luxury staycation in NYC ā the city where I live with my husband and toddler, and I'd be so grateful for your advice.
THE STORY: I'm turning 40 this weekend, and haven't planned a thing. (The tradition of my marriage is that the birthday person takes the lead on choosing what to do, and I've been ducking every request, so this is on me!) It's been a hard few months (unemployment - just got a new job, whew - parenting, marriage, all of it!) and I just haven't been able to think about it. But now I'm thinking about it. And tonight, quite last minute while procrastinating and reading this sub I had a lightbulb, head-smack moment ā what I REALLY want to do is spend a night in a really lovely hotel!!!! A luxury experience for a milestone birthday!!! Start as you mean to go on!!! This feels exactly right, and I have a bit of a vision for it now.
THE VISION: Sunday morning, I wake up with my son and my husband, I am 40, we are in a beautiful hotel room in beautiful New York, my husband gets up to open the windows and there it is ... the New York City skyline, or Central Park, or the Brooklyn Bridge or some other bridge. Pinch me, I'm 40! And I'm in this amazing beautiful room! With my beautiful family! Looking at this beautiful city! And also we LIVE in this amazing city! etc etc Then a knock on the door and an incredibly kind wonderful person brings in delicious fancy wonderful over the top breakfast yum yum yum and that's as far as I've gotten. Maybe the night before my husband and I took turns swimming laps if there's a pool? or in the spa or in the gym? or Maybe we went to the pool with our son, if there is one? Maybe after breakfast we'll go to the pool again? Or maybe we'll just stay in the hotel room because it's a very nice room and it feels good and looking out the window is really special? Maybe we'll get room service again for lunch? We've arranged for late checkout so it's okay. Or maybe we've just booked a second night so we don't even have to worry about it? Ok that's it. That's the vision.
THE BUDGET: I would feel good about spending $2,000 all in on this birthday treat ā including room service and fees and whatever else. Even as I write that I know that's not realistic, for what I'm wanting (forget about pool? compromise on what "view" means? treat the food as a separate thing?) So maybe then $2000 on the room and then ... another $500 on 2-3 room service meals?
THE LOCATION: Not important, except no Times Square and no Williamsburg and no Meatpacking. Anywhere else is OK! More important is ....
THE VIEW: Must exist from the room, preferably from the bed but can be flex there, but really wanna be able to see something breathtaking.
THE MUST-HAVE: Child friendlyāIt'll be me, my husband, and our three year old son. I don't want to feel like I need to smuggle my kid into the hotel. I'd like to feel like he's welcome there and that I'm not ruining anyone's day by having a child there. (Though maybe I'll need to smuggle him in because of room capacity restrictions? Would love any insight on that ... )
THE REALLY-WANT-TO-HAVE: Amazing serviceāI want to feel taken care of and surprised and delighted. Little touches that make me feel like someone is paying attention and cares. Just the little "I noticed you" stuff that means so much to peopleāit means so much to me!
THE WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: Pool (really only if it's one we could take our kid in, if not, then don't care)
THE THING I JUST THOUGHT OF: It might also work (and be better for budget??) to check in on my birthday-day (Sunday the 19) and then have fancy room service dinner and cake (?) and night time view and then have a less leisurely but still nice morning experience on Monday
THE REASON I'M POSTING HERE: I opened a lot of tabs and just couldn't commit to anything - when you aren't used to spending this much money on a hotel room (or anything really) it feels very high stakes to do so!!!! like if we spend this money and it's great, that's money well spent, totally worth it. But if we spend this money and it's disappointing, that seems like it would be SO disappointing. Like so disappointing it might not even be worth the potential upside? Booking it myself feels too risky, I want someone to be like oh yeah THIS is what you should do.

I have very good experience as a full stack developer and I have the skills to develop complex systems. I work for a policy insurance company but with what I have been learning about insurance it is very complex to start something similar in this country in my current position.
I have no idea where to start and I have no idea what kind of system I could develop to start selling it and make a business out of that idea.
I have 80k+ saved in my savings account ready to make more money, good credit and availability to have a good loan from the bank. Please help me with your experiences. thank you so much

As the Playstation 3 surprisingly still has a very active playerbase (until last year, 2 million active users were registered on the PS3, which for me is surprising considering that it is a console that is almost 20 years old, here in Brazil it has even become an extremely cheap option for some people's "first console", which I think is kinda nice) I ended up being motivated to write this post which could perhaps be useful for people who have both consoles (PS3 and PS5) or have a PS3 and intend to keep the same PSN account when migrating to a new console.

Hi,
Currently have a ROG Zephyrus G15 with a AMD 4800HS and a 1660 Ti Max Q. Laptop is pretty old (4 years) and I'm planning on finishing a PC build soon (2-3 months), but for now I'm still using my laptop. Problem is when I game the CPU almost immediately goes to 95c and stays there, and the GPU usually goes to 85c and stays there. I also got my laptop cleaned today and re-thermal'd, so don't think dust is the problem here. Also when I'm not gaming the CPU temps range from 60-75 (few chrome tabs open), which I believe is a bit too high?
Here's my question. Would it be worth it for me to try to learn how to undervolt the CPU and or GPU or would another 2-3 months at these temps before I finish my build not really make a difference? I've heard laptops are designed to run at higher temps, but 95C i think is still quite high. Thanks in advance.

Well. While itās no Maruti Suzuki, this 2003 7th Gen Accord really did surprise me quite a bit in this regard. Back when I got this as my new daily, I never really cared or still care for fuel economy. But with a bit of curiosity (and necessity as for some reason, the car did not come with an economy gauge), I decided to take 3 days to conduct an experiment on how much I can squeeze out of this 2.4L motor. Distance:My office commute is about 16.6 kms one way. 33.2 kms two ways multiplied by three would be about 99.6 kms covered. The tank to tank method was used ofc but I also wanted a way to figure out instantaneous fuel economy so that it will help me optimise the fuel consumption on the go. One way to do this was to get an OBD scanner and directly talk to the car. However, I was not gonna splurge on a new Autel scanner(some models which would almost cost as much as my carās value) just to measure fuel economy as they are incredibly expensive.The scanner that surprised me:Scouring through online products, I came across this thing. Itās an OBD scanner that uses your phone to connect and show you info and since it uses the OBD ELM 327 protocol, there are a host of apps on the AppStore that you can use to connect to it. And it was quite inexpensive at ā¹300 ish, so I thought why not. Would double up as a review of accuracy for this thing as well.K24A4:The 7th gen Accord came with the K series K24A4 2.4L engine mated to a 5 speed torque converter. Enthusiasts would like you to believe that this is the same legendary K series K24 thatās capable of producing almost 500bhp without any forced induction and is the same thing thatās found on the later Accordās and Acuraās. However, that couldnāt be more false.Apart from sharing the same block, thereās very little thatās common between this and the K24Z2 or the K24Z3 thatās found in the 8th gen 2008-2013 Accord. The K24A4 uses an economy trim of VTEC and also produces less power and torque than the 2008 one. While both the engines have the same bore and stroke and hence the same displacement, the K24A4 has a lower compression ratio and is tuned differently hence produces almost 25hp lesser than the 2008 Accord. It also has a lower redline at 6700rpm. A notable characteristic of the K24A4 is that unlike the Gen8 K24Zās VTEC that has 3 lobed VTEC only on the intake side, the K24A4 has a staggered VTEC 4 lobed setup with lobed cams on both the intake and the exhaust valves. While this reduces itās power efficacy, it also significantly decreases the hit on fuel economy when VTEC is engaged and as a bonus(or not, as I personally donāt like it), you get a distinct whine when VTEC crossover happens, something thatās unique and not present in other Hondaās. The end result is a motor thatās down on power compared to the newer Accord but with significantly higher fuel economy. Experiment begins:Started off with a full tank, 3 days of office commute, I ended it at the petrol station with exactly 100.9 kms on the trip meter. The scanner read an average fuel economy of 9.33km/L. The fuel up was around 11.06 liters to the full tank.Comparing this to the real values, 100.9/11.05 = 9.13kmpl. I was plenty surprised, not just by the car but also how accurate this ā¹300 scanner was. Definitely a well worth purchase. I should add this as a disclaimer, this was tested under rigorous hypermiling conditions with no bumper to bumper traffic and all the commutes on odd hours. With ample steady acceleration and maximum engine braking used with a whole lot of coasting and zero pedal to the floor acceleration. It was also the result of being very calculative when I had to slow down abusing the deceleration fuel cut-off everytime I had to shed speed and Iāve never used the brakes this less in my commute. Needless to say, it was torture for me to drive the car this way, with no flooring it or hitting the rev limiter and with me fighting the urges to open it up and send it or going anywhere as fast as I wanted to. So while I probably will never get this economy figure as a regular number, it was good to know what itās capable of. Interesting findings:This leads me to also mention, while this is an economy trim of the K24, it is also, at the end of the day, a 2.4L engine. Something Iāve noticed is that, this car is incredibly sensitive to how itās being driven, much more so than any other car Iāve driven. Despite the 9.13kmpl economy, driving it normally(not even fast, just slightly faster than me hypermiling it) results in a steep drop to 7.9kmpl on the scanner. Driving pedal to the metal, I have seen it drop to 6.3kmpl. Never have I seen fuel economy numbers drop that fast with just a slight change(not even a big difference) in driving style.Something even more interesting is that this car basically makes zero difference if you leave the AC on or turn it off. I have seen cars whose economy increase by even 3-4kmpl with the AC turned on. Not sure if ya something specific to this car or itās how it is with all Accord but yeah, found that quite interesting. So all things considered, I get around 7.5kmpl in my regular driving around the city. K24A4, useless for performance. Or is it?For the enthusiasts out there, I know your thinking and no this motor isnāt completely useless compared to the 2008 8th gen Accord. Well, depends on what youāre looking terms of mods.Yes it produces less power. Yes itās the economy trim of Vtec. However, there is a silver lining. With purely bolt on mods, the K24Z on the 8th gen Accord will produce more power as expected. But if you have enough money to spend, the 7th gen Accord has significantly more potential than the 8th gen. The K24Z on the 8th gen has its exhaust manifold cast on to the head which means no aftermarket headers. It also has a plastic intake manifold so you canāt port and polish or extrude hone it like you can with the aluminium intake manifold on the older K series motors. Not to mention the compression ratio is higher than the older 7th gen so it wonāt be as boost friendly. The 7th gen has multiple companies like Hondata offering bespoke and retrofit custom ECUs however there is no such support for the 8th Gen K24Z motors. Hereās a 702bhp 7th gen Accord made by RaceConcepts in Bangalore reviewed by The Drivers Hub. The aftermarket for the K24Z on the 2008 8th is really weak compared to the civic and the earlier Accord. So if youāre looking for an old D segment car that you can daily without breaking the bank on fuel costs or if youāre a hardcore enthusiast looking to build the fastest car that eats drag strips for breakfast, consider the 7th gen Accord! PSA: Just stay away from the V6 of this generation. Not only does it return horrendous fuel economy, itās also notorious for transmission failures to the point that there was a class action lawsuit filed against Honda back in 2004. I've read many posts in this subreddit objecting to Sunday's philosophy on the basis that Sunday's ideals deprive other inhabitants of Penacony of their free will. I think that this does not strike at the heart of why one should object to Sunday's principles. I happen to have some formal training on the subject, so I will try my best to explain why Sunday's beliefs are objectionable. It is important to not simply get the direction of our opinions correct, but also the reason for believing the way we do correct as well.In this post, I will address>! Sunday's !
A key assumption I make here is that we agree with>! Sunday!!Sunday !
Decomposing Sunday's Philosophy: Two principles
Sunday's philosophy can be broken down into two main principles: (1) people should not have to suffer because of their bodily constitution/environment/wealth; and (2) people should have the freedom to use their free time however they like, to achieve their own goals. I'll refer to (1) as the "Firefly principle", and (2) as the "Weekend principle".Intuitively, we may find that there is nothing wrong with these two principles I've mentioned. This is why we might feel like we should agree with Sunday's ideals. How do we justify our feelings using robust academic concepts?
We can look at this through the idea of "negative" and "positive" liberty by scholar Isiah Berlin. This is the idea that freedom can be defined in two forms: (1) freedom from interference by others (including the environment); and (2) freedom to do things by being empowered with the means to do a given thing.
Negative freedom and the Firefly principle
We'll start with negative freedom and how it is promoted by the "Firefly principle". Basically, Sunday's argument is that people will be more free if they are removed from constraints of health, social status and wealth. Intuition suggests that this is correct, and we are right to follow that intuition. No one should have suffer more than others because they're born into worse circumstances. The famous social justice philosopher John Rawls would say that this suffering due to circumstances not of our own making is arbitrary and unfair.People affected by their circumstances enjoy less freedom than others because they need to work hardework longecope with more challenges in order to simply live. This extra strain, from factors they cannot control, can be considered interference on a given person. They are forced to suffer the reductions in resources (time, money, etc.) in order to deal with the interference. I call this the Firefly principle because Firefly is the example Sunday uses when talking about this. Firefly is forced to deal with Entropy Loss Syndrome inherent to her circumstances of birth against her will, and has stated that she'd lead a far different life if she weren't bound to her circumstances. The way these circumstances of health, social status and wealth affect a person, against their will, directly contradicts the idea of negative liberty and being free from interference.
On the other hand, Sunday's proposal of removing this factors is convincing because we can see that it really increases the negative freedom of all people. They can reclaim resources that would otherwise be lost to the effects of interference from their circumstances of (lacking) health, social status and wealth. Assuming that we all believe that a greater freedom is preferable to a more limited one, it is clear that Sunday's philosophy, or at least the Firefly principle, is desirable.
In sum, the injustice of this arbitrariness makes us feel that the constraints of health, social status and wealth are morally bad; it is why we feel repulsed by it and in turn attracted to Sunday's ideas.
Positive Freedom and the Weekend principle
We move on to the idea of positive freedom and how we get more of it by following the Weekend principle. The one line that is most striking to most players is Sunday's example of an eternal succession of weekends to replace the working week. This is actually an extreme example which has overshadowed the underlying political position that Sunday holds, which led him to say such a thing. Sunday just wants to give people more resources -- in terms of time -- so that they may be free to pursue their life goals/ambitions. In political science, we call this the "life plan": it refers to what people want to do with their lives, given the resources that they have.The relationship between the Weekend principle and positive freedom is a simple one. Being given time empowers one (i.e. increases one's positive freedom) because one has access to more resources to accomplish more of what they want. Again, intuitively, we see this as a good thing. We want people to be able to better pursue their dreams, to do what they want to do. To do things requires resources, and Sunday's proposal frees up more resources for people to use on their life goals.
Sunday's problem -- Unilateralism
There is, in fact, nothing wrong with Sunday's philosophy insofar as we consider these two principles. It is the reason that March and Himeko mention that it is difficult to refute Sunday's philosophy in the scene right before the first time you fight Dominicus. If we appreciate freedom and believe it to be desirable for all, Sunday's proposal is morally consistent with our want and appreciation of widespread freedoms.We set aside the question of whether something done in a dream is as real as something done in reality. It is my belief that the dream/reality thing muddles the scholarly debate regarding Sunday's philosophy, since it is conventionally difficult for one to believe that something done in a dream is more significant that something done in reality. That sort of discussion is probably better left to students of philosophy, who can better argue about the significance of dreams and reality, rather than students of political science. I will deal strictly with the political implications of Sunday's philosophy.
The main problem with Sunday's philosophy is unilateralism. People have been right to point out that Sunday "did not ask for consent". In scholarly terms, we call this despotic/undemocratic behavior. Sunday has not consulted with anyone; he has not engaged in public deliberation; he is using power to enforce the system of government he wants.
Lack of consent is a big issue of course, but a greater concern is dictatorship. Sunday claims that he will be the only person awake, or something along those lines, but it is really a fancy way of saying that he will be sole dictator to dreamland, albeit a utopian one. Ancient philosophers like Plato and Aristotle might actually agree with Sunday's ideas: they had a deep distrust of the follies of the masses, and would rather a capable hand steer the ship of state. This is likely the role Sunday envisions himself in. That is, Sunday sees himself as the enlightened person who will manage paradise in its inhabitants' stead.
The problem arises from the fact that there is no democratic consultation. Classic arguments against dictatorships will apply to Sunday: what happens if he makes an error in judgment? What if he is unable to adequately respond to peoples' needs, even with the power and networking of The Family and its members combined? These are very pragmatic issues that any ruling organization will face, which I imagine will be an even greater problem for Sunday's lonesome.
To tie this back to our objective of promoting freedom, we observe that under Sunday's arrangement, no-one is guaranteed their freedom under Sunday's dictatorship. One may consider themselves free when Sunday's management aligns with their own interests and objectives, but we cannot guarantee the continuity of this alignment into the future. Those who have their goals misaligned with Sunday's vision of utopia will find themselves necessarily unfree, and with no recourse to alter, replace or escape Sunday's government. The prospect of becoming this group of people who are not adequately represented by Sunday undermines Sunday's entire project of increasing the freedom of the weak.
Conclusion (or TL;DR I guess)
Not only does Sunday face significant problems in running Penacony as its sole manager, he also runs the risk of being unrepresentative due to his unilateralism. Inhabitants of Penacony cannot be assured that Sunday will remain a benevolent ruler.We know that he would likely be one because we have glimpses into his mind through the omniscient viewpoint of the player. However, no-one else in the story can be sure that Sunday will remain a responsive governor of Penacony. Further, there are no accountability mechanisms to depose Sunday and replace him with another leader should he turn out to be tyrannical or incompetent down the road.
In the field of Political Science, this is the problem of centralizing governmental powers. Generally, we want a government that can respond to the needs of its people. Many systems of government will try to avoid putting too much power in a single person, such that there may be checks and balances that will provide some way for people to hold government accountable for their actions and competence. Being able to choose one's government and its policies is a very important freedom. Sunday's benevolent dictatorship fails this requirement.
So how do we fix this? I highlighted the Firefly principle and the Weekend principle because they cohere very closely to real life ideas of socialism. The idea that people should be free from their circumstances, and should be free to apply themselves to whatever life plans they wish to pursue are key tenets of socialism. The only difference is that under socialism, people will decide societal priorities and use of social resources together in democratic fashion. It's entirely fine when people decide, out of their own volition, that they should use resources in a certain way that enhances their freedom. It is, however, problematic when this decision is done unilaterally, such as in Sunday's philosophy.
Outside of his dictatorial tendencies, Sunday really promotes some classic socialist ideas that are intended to address the moral badness of society's failure in addressing social inequalities and peoples' needs for self-fulfillment. He just needs more time to think over his philosophy and execute on it in a manner that is more democratic.
As a final word and to provide some further reading for those that have become interested in political science analysis, I recommend reading "Why not socialism" by scholar G.A. Cohen for a political-philosophical justification of Sunday's philosophy. It's a pretty short read (~20 pages?) and will help us better understand our intuitive agreement with Sunday's philosophy.
