2024.05.15 03:49 _just_a_weeb404 College wear which watch after the first one will go if I already am buying the first watch in the pic?

I'm planning to wear first watch for occasions/ any sorta outing and since it's quartz I won't have to adjust time.
What should I go for second one?
Wrist size : 6.2 in Im really damn confused, I'll be thankful to whoever helps me
Imo prolly I'll take the second pic one and wear it day to day in college.But Whenever there is any outing with friends such as going to restaurant or hiking or smth, I will wear the first watch.
And whenever im going to a professional function such as a marriage or something such important, I will purchase a jublee bracelet and temporary swap in that on Seiko for that function or wear Casio one as per my mood.
I am just worried that both are the same color. Is it okay or should I get the different color as seen in the last pick?
Or should I go for a field watch?
One thing to note is that the blue dial one is thin compared to field watches
What y'all think ??

2024.05.15 02:41 not4urbrains [SOTC] Just bought my first watch of the year; figured it was time to start posting here.

1) RGM model 151 - My newest watch; just arrived from a private seller on Chrono24. I’m thinking about swapping the white face for a green one when I send it in for service.
2) Panerai Luminor Marina Quaranta - this has been my go-to daily watch for the last year or two.
3) Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue - my grandfather gave it to me when I graduated college.
4) Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date - No matter how much I spend on watches, this will always be my most precious. My grandfather bought it for my dad when he graduated high school, which was a huge financial stretch at the time. My dad wore it almost every day for thirty years, and he gave it to me when I graduated high school.
5) Zelos Skyraider 2 - bought on a whim last year because I loved the titanium Damascus case. It’s also my only manual winding watch.
6) Vulcain 50s President Cricket Automatic - I’ve been fascinated by the mechanical alarm complication, I believe this is the only automatic Cricket model Vulcain ever made; traditionally this is a hand-wound model. I also love the history the Vulcain Cricket line has with US presidents.
7) Mr. Jones Ricochet - another one I bought on a whim. I thought the dial was fun and the jump hour and minute wheel presented in the high score of the pinball machine was a really fun idea.
8) Swatch - My only quartz watch, but it was the first watch my dad bought me when I was a kid. I’ll never get rid of it.

2024.05.14 23:59 LadyKookaburra [SRP852J1] Recommendations for Seiko watches like the Presage but smaller and quartz?

Hi,
I am new to watches and I am looking for advice for a first watch. I am currently looking at Tissot but I thought I'd check out Seiko as well!
My budget is 600 USD. Ideally, I'd like a <31mm quartz watch that has the minute marks on the dial as well as a second hand and 100m WR. The Seiko Presage (SRP852J1) almost fits the bill for me. I love the look so much but it is an automatic and slightly bigger than I would prefer.
Anyone got recommendations for similar Seiko watches?

2024.05.14 23:48 Grundlage [Question] How noisy is an automatic watch?

I've just received a brand new watch bought from a reputable microbrand with a Miyota 9000 series movement. My watches prior to this have been quartz/solar, so I'm not sure what is normal for mechanical watches. Any regular movement of my wrist creates an audible clink in the watch (from inside it, not the bracelet) and I can hear the rotor moving. A moderate tap with my finger on the glass creates a clinking/rattling sound. While the watch appears to run and keep time just fine, since I'm coming from quartz, it's hard to get used to the idea that hearing parts inside my watch clink and whizz isn't a sign of fragility or something going wrong. Is this just normal (or normal for a cheaper movement) or is something broken/breaking?

2024.05.14 23:43 Intrepid_Error_1014 [Orient/Tissot] New Orient or used Tissot?

Short version: What the title says.
Longer version: I had my old Tissot Seastar 660 serviced today, and it seems to be beyond salvaging. The only thing actually working is the main movement; even the second dial has died. Now I want to get a nice watch as sort of a graduation gift for myself.
I immediately thought about getting another Tissot, and I've drooled after the PRS 200 in steel and gold with a white dial for ages, but that one's become way more expensive since last I checked (800+ usd). So I started checking out Orient, as that seems to be a good go-to when starting out. I immediately fell for the Bambino Classic in green (around 300 usd here) and the Kamasu Mako III Automatic with the delicious greenish burst. That one's around 370 usd (I live in an insanely expensive country).
However, I am also able to get some decent deals on used Tissots. I can get a Chrono XL Quartz from 2018 in seemingly great condition for 200 usd, or a PRC 200 for 170 usd.
Right now I'm actually feeling the Kamasu the most (I think this is the one people call V2, because of the gradient?), but I'm wondering if that's a huge mistake. Would a 200 dollar used Tissot be so much higher quality that I would be braindead to pay 370 dollars for a new Orient instead?
I know I should go for the one that makes me happy, sure, I just want to make sure I'm not making a huge brainfart here. Any input would be appreciated.

2024.05.14 19:18 Jt8726 Timex quartz watch seconds hand isn't moving after replacing battery.

The watch is getting power because the indigo light lights on if I press it but the Timex expedition watch second hand isn't ticking anymore. Wonder if anyone would recommend a solution. Tried seeing if there is a reset section but looks like it's only on digital watches.

My grandfather had two watches with sentimental value that he asked me to repair for him. Unfortunately, they're quartz movements from the 80s, and are basically unfixable without finding a similar movement and cannibalizing for parts. So, I figured the next best thing would be to build a display case for them. He was the one who got me in to woodworking to begin with when I was a kid, and I've since moved so he hasn't been there to see me getting back in to in now.
I went with purple heart since we are from Guyana and I know he likes the wood a lot. I decided to add the racing stripes out of maple to add a pop of color, and my wife helped me with selecting the backing fabric and mounting it. This was also my first box using glass, as the few other frames I've made were all open faced. Cutting the groove for the glass on the router table wasn't difficult, but making sure that no glue or hard wax got on it was a challenge.
I don't own a table saw, everything here was done with a miter saw, router, and sander. Finish is Rubio monocoat.
