2024.06.09 10:27 TheNobleMaster789 Hear me out, Doctor Who - HSR crossover.

I feel like the fandom crossover is going to be so small that few people will even know what Doctor Who is but I gotta write this somewhere.
I was sitting at my desk listening to the Doctor Who OST, as one does. And for some reason my head just suddenly became completely fixated on the notion of the Doctor and the Tardis running into the Astral Express on a misadventure somewhere somehow. Hell it wouldn't even be the first train in space the Doctor has ended up on.
And given his propensity to completely shattering time despite his efforts to the contrary, you could concoct just about any justification for his brief appearance there and frankly it'd make more than enough sense to be as 'Canon' as a crossover could be.
I didn't really lock in a specific doctor per se, maybe it could even be a unique one to HSR idk. My favourites are 10, 11 and 12 so one of them definitely was at the top of my list.
I was even brooding on the abilities the Doctor would have, and while I'm not about to come up with a whole ass build, this is what I was picturing in my head :
Imaginary or Quantum damage maybe? Definitely one of those two in my head.
Skill - Something very similar to Silver Wolf I imagine? A little magic with the sonic screwdriver to implant a weakness on an enemy?
Ultimate - Perhaps something employing the Tardis? In my head it's something like 'Foresight' which will give the entire team 1 or 2 guaranteed 'dodges' of enemy attacks? Essentially a tank focused skill that with careful timing could negate big enemy attacks? Probably way too OP though, I'm no balancing expert.
Attack - Kinda hard to say, the Doctor isn't the most violent guy, so I will admit, not much idea what his attack animation or theme would be.
But I mean c'mon, imagine Welt and the Doctor interacting, or just how much the Doctor's constant travelling and the like could practically fit him in perfectly as a temporary guest of the Express, passing through, helping out. Just as he always does.
I admit, I don't have much of a plot in mind for this, and I feel like I've caused two entire fandoms to cringe a little on the inside, but someone out there might just see the potential of what I'm putting on the table here!

2024.06.09 09:30 -CORSO-1 1x Godot Super Wizard (Revshare) Flashy & pretty remake, 90's Top Down, super/hypercar racer with bizarre twist.

(OPEN & LOOKING)

Hello!
LONG POST! Image heavy (and shitty loading times). 5 Pages! Apologies for the length, trying to pre-empt your questions and show fixed scope.

Request:

One person with excellent, higher-order programming skills in Godot GDScript who could pair with my graphics and programming abilities for a highly popular 1990's game title, top down racer remake.

Game Synopsis:

Single player, Super Cars Clone but more realistic + crazy + more detailed and prettier graphics. With 1990’s styling and Roguelite-ish collect & combat precepts throughout.
Image set

Citing the Original Game:

Explanation video of Super Cars 2, 1990’s charm: Descriptive Video
Just flick through these next two videos, no need to watch to completion. This is to show you how dated they are.
Long Play video of original Game: Amiga Super Cars 2:
Earlier Super Cars 1: Long Play Video

Proof of Concept Test Video:

Here is a proof of concept video with artwork (no props except for road elevation).
Concept Video

Proof of Concept, Playable Game:

You can download and play it here. Do note: Road elevation changes marked by Red and Green rectangles on track, in case you’re confused about varying accelerations. AI is hypershit.
Playable Game Link
Some of the old video’s on there show the lo-res flippers, water cannons, pits, pins, rough roads, trains, etc, in working order.

Synopsis of Theme:

You are an up and coming racecar driver. It is the 1990's when flamboyant super cars, daring films(James Bond esq) and thrilling car races are all the buzz. Catching this excitement, a movie studio has noticed your driving talent. During a racing season, you'll be given access to 'unique' races at movie locations. Ie: "Blues Brothers Mall scene", or driving through a mine site with giant excavators and blasting of rock walls for that all important movie-shot. Or, many other weird and unusual prop-heavy locations, like a slime factory, or an industrial petrochemical plant complete with fiery explosions and other such spectacular events. To achieve access to these, you need to prove your worth on the daily race track. Many are non-ordinary tracks. They'll have things like giant water canons to push you around, wobbling roads, uneven rocky tracks, dips, jumps, giant pinball flippers, oil firing canons, trains and other devices all while in furious and intense competition with other NPC drivers.
Be forewarned, the video’s below show a distinct lack of polish. Ie: skidding-black level on packed dirt, no inertia correction in skid, no proper power to gear ratio etc, etc.
Mine Site and Prop Test Free Drive:
This one would be more or less representative of a special type track (due to location).
Katawarra mine
Plugin Functionality test:
Plug-In, Multi-Prop-Installations (shopping centre test), farmland, pushroads and cutaway view of mountains.
Plug In Building Test
And have another jungle track for good measure.
Jungle scene free-drive

Overview of Game ‘Chunks’:

Some Cars
Ok. in absolute brief: You start at ‘D’ category, have access to those cars and parts at that level. Above, cars on the left are ‘D’, then the next two are ‘C’, then next two are ‘B’, ‘A’, and the last two are ‘Ultra Class’ category. Each Category is an entire season of 10 tracks each. Including special event tracks.
On the roads, there are props, you plough into them for rewards, and special things called ‘chits’. Props are fences, oil drums, wood piles and anything that looks like it needs a good smashing.
Ultimately, Chits are used in a mini game (like Wheel of Fortune), to earn higher grade parts, cash prizes and even a better car than your current season’s level cap.
There’s a parts shop, a car shop, a Tv studio(for the WoF bit) and your assembly garage.
When you complete a season, if you make it into the top 3 racers at the end, you can upgrade to the next season D -> C. That means better and faster cars, higher grade engine parts, more challenging drivers, more tracks and bigger prizes on the Wheel of Fortune spin mini game. And you keep going until you reach Ultra class, where you’re driving monstrous hypercars against the best to win the entire full season.
It is meant to be a difficult game, just like the original. Practice makes Perfect.

Market Expectations:

Do note: Top down racers are NOT big money earners, so don't expect a huge audience. We would probably be lucky to fit just Below 'Make Way' at position 15.
Steam stats

What Happened and why am I doing this:

Me: Senior IT Manager. (BMech Eng.). + Hobby Artist (Pretty OK & particularly fast) + VB6 Coder (Strong skills). Was working on a BIG VB6 program for enjoyment. (https://nelfid.com/)
Had to stop. Looked at Godot for continuation, seriously impressed, started learning it, WOW. Decided to build a racer for shits and giggles and to learn from it. Ok, fun, easy, cool, and then decided to upgrade it with pretty graphics and decent gameplay. Game testers went nuts, I went nuts. Too much fun.
But, I’m long suffering from a sleep disorder. So re-re-re-learning Godot between medical hiatuses isn’t fun. However I can churn out art and Godot prop code no matter my condition.
I’m still a beginner at Godot, an advanced coder in VB6, I can prototype well. HOWEVER, I’m better at smashing out tracks worth of art, cars portraits, cars sprites, car cutaways and Godot track and props setup.
What I am NOT good at is the higher order setup of minimising repeat code and proper setout of node hierarchies (I haven’t learned it yet). I’m tired of bashing my head against, all the old vector math, engine math, gearing data and power curves. (I graduated that stuff at University too many years ago.)
I’m looking for someone who likes THAT, car-frictiony-enginey-handling-math. Someone who likes building car-part-shop-garage-drag-drop-thingy-interfaces. Someone who enjoys a good thrash and smash car game with a penchant for comedy and silliness. Someone who’ll also help with all the OTHER things needed to put a game on Steam and random marketing functions. Someone who knows how to handle multi-packed scenes and not build shit code.
As needed, I’ll be covering ALL the art, all the interface art, you-name-it, you just make it work. I’ll also be building and drawing all the tracks. Ideas and creation for silliness, wackiness, interesting tracks, cool props, etc, will be a duo effort for building them. If you have art skills too, great, join in.
Do note: I’m aiming at hand-drawing 50 tracks in grand total, their props and variants. This is an astronomical amount of work. I WILL get burnout, and the contingency is to ask the audience for fun and silly ideas too. This way, the track-select-bucket can be filled over time. Even after Steam’s Early Access commences. Seriously, you’ve got to go above and beyond to stand out nowadays.
Have SQLite skills? Good, because we will be using it.

Build Time:

Speculatively guessing for build time. Minimum time 3 months. Maximum time 6 months to complete.

Goal Post 1:

Schedule I'd like to do: Prep the game with a first stage demo. As per above, but with say 3 tracks, and 3 different user cars and proper NPC AI. Chuck that on Steam as a first port of call. This shouldn't take long as the shop/parts/Tv studio are not relevant here. Just racing and a simplistic track select menu. Car types can be basic hard coded engines and handling here (ie: no part swapping yet).

Goal Post 2:

Second stage demo: and with it, Early Access. Entire Season 1 Tracks ready. All stuff is here, shops, parts, Tv studio. Category 'D' racing is fully open here. The user can run through the whole 1'st stage, 10 tracks (with celebrity tracks included). However, more difficult grades C, B, A and Ultra cars, parts and other tracks are not available. This is so the users can get a 100% feeling for the game, and if they want to go to the next level (more difficult, more tracks, more parts, more cars, more excitement) they'll have the incentive to purchase the full game. Early access means we'll start dumping down new tracks and celebrity tracks as they get made so EA's can get them in the random bucket as we go along.

Goal Post 3:

Real Launch: Everything done, but tracks might not be fully complete yet (at least 50% done). Track selection is done from a diminishing pool randomly selected per each season. If short, it will select from the bucket again. At this stage the entire game should be coded in full, with the exception of new props for upcoming tracks. Which you'll be helping out with.

Marketing:

Marketing is informal at the moment, and happy to share ideas and discuss approaches accordingly. Currently I've been collecting relevant forum/group websites for those who love or may love this stuff.

Sound:

Music and sound effects assets will be from sites like Zapsplat and other affiliate style sites. (So we'll need to program in a car CD Player or Tape Deck, lol) If worthwhile to translate for other languages, we can do that as it's not a text heavy game.

Revshare:

Rev share will be pinned at 50/50 unless there is some other extenuating circumstances. Official company setup and final legals will occur immediately prior to Early Access -> pending interest level by users.
You won't be 'just' coding. Wherever we can both cover each other's backs to smash things out as fast as possible, you'll need to be flexible. Game's are not just coding and artwork.
I expect you to be proactive because I’ll have my hands full with art and technical props.
Let’s do our best to get it over the line.

Response:

I won’t be responding to Discord currently. My account seems to have been inactive-erased, I haven't ‘dug’ in my records for it, that’s a ‘later’ thing. DO NOT DM me, myself and others want to see and verify who you are first, exclusively write below.

Timezone:

East-coast Australia timezone, happy for any talent, anywhere. English language only.

About you:

If you are interested and have some seriously strong Godot skills, please introduce yourself, what you've done, programming background, any training or other videos you've made (please link them). Can you program caengine physics and road AI exceptionally well already? How do you avoid spaghetti code? How long have you been tackling Godot? Do you know shaders? What are your daily hours/location? What can you do for your 50/50 rev-share of this project?
Corso
Have some AI Generated art for theme and ideas fishing. Note: I won’t be using AI art anywhere, this is only for sticking into the ideas-box and to give you a feel for what the game is about.
Coverart Ideas
Lastly, if you’re good and we work well together, I’m happy to discuss any future projects that require similar arrangements. There is a mountain of short-term, popular 90’s and similar games begging for modernisation and graphical updates.

2024.06.09 08:59 TheWorstThingy [MS] Prosopagnosia v. Cotard's Syndrome

Content Warning: This story contains themes of mental health issues, suicide and physical violence.
Prosopagnosia v. Cotard's Syndrome
My new doctor - a bright and friendly guy named Sarbjit - took the time to explain his diagnosis to me. He told me my condition was mental, not physical, but it was hard to pay attention to everything he said because my left arm was numb and rotting from the inside out. I smiled and nodded and then when I got home I looked up Cotard’s Syndrome online. Here is what Wikipedia had to say on it.
“Cotard's syndrome, also known as ‘Cotard's delusion’ or ‘Walking Corpse Syndrome’, is a rare mental disorder in which the affected person holds the delusional belief that they are dead, do not exist, are putrefying, or have lost their blood or internal organs.”
I don’t know. Sounded extremely strange to me. I just knew my left arm was dying. Maybe my liver too. I used my right arm, the good one, to open my mail. Most of it was just the normal stuff but when I saw the letter from the Supreme Court of the State of New York I got a little worried. I was here legally - a citizen for almost ten years now - and I knew my rights but being summoned to testify at this criminal trial was a bit unnerving. I didn’t like it. I just try to do my best in this life and mind my own business and not cause problems for others.
When my trial appearance date arrived two months later I took the subway downtown and left my assistant, Stavvy, in charge of the office that day. I sat there on a hard wooden bench in the courtroom all morning listening to the testimony of other witnesses but I wasn’t called to the stand until sometime after we returned from lunch. Eventually, the lawyer for the defense called my name.
She mispronounced it of course - people here always mispronounce Albanian names - so I wasn’t surprised when she called me Mister Shka-Rell-Eee. My surname is Shkreli, after the place where my family comes from, and the proper pronunciation contains only two syllables - Shkrell-Eee. I was trying to hold my left arm in place when she asked her opening question.
Where was I at the time of the murder?
“Well, Miss Anderson” - I pronounced it Ahnd-REE-Sawn, drawing out the first and last syllables while placing too much emphasis on the middle one, intentionally - “I am not entirely certain. That was over a year ago and I travel all around this city on a daily basis for my job. I work in computer repair and IT support and I have customers in all five boroughs.” (This wasn’t exactly true. I wasn’t really willing to travel to Staten Island.) We had spoken four months earlier when she informed me of the questions she intended to ask at trial but I was fairly oblique then and I intended to remain so now. I had bigger problems. Could these people not see that my left arm was rotting away?
She looked at me with a furrowed brow and briskly walked back to the defense table, picked up a leather-bound notepad and opened it.
“Mister Shkreli, when you and I spoke on June 18th you confirmed that you were just leaving a client’s office, TRG Commercial Realty, located at 223 Broome Street here in lower Manhattan at approximately 3:30pm that day, shortly before the incident at issue took place less than one block away. Is that not correct?”
I turned up my native eastern European accent a bit and repositioned my left arm in my lap. I could barely feel it at that point. What was wrong with these people?
“If you say so. Like I said, that was over a year ago and it was just another workday for me.”
She stared at me for a beat or two longer than necessary and then flashed a quick look towards the jurors before continuing.
“Well yes, Mister Shkreli” - again it was Shka-Rell-Eee - “You did tell me that and I do have a recording of our conversation, which you consented to before we began, if the court would like this to be entered into evidence?”
She looked at the judge and the judge looked at me.
“Mister Shkreli,” - he too pronounced it Shka-Rell-Eee - ‘Are you refuting the testimony that Miss Anderson is referencing during your preliminary deposition or can we just move on at this point? If counsel for the defense claims to have this recording I am fairly certain this is true. Will it be necessary to enter this recording into evidence at this time or are you willing to acknowledge Miss Anderson’s claim?”
I repositioned my left arm in my lap and nodded.
“That’s fine, Your Honor. As I said, it was just another workday for me but if Miss Anderson says that is what we discussed I am sure she is probably right.”
The judge nodded back at me. “Very good. Let’s proceed then.”
Miss Anderson walked back to the defense table and dropped the leather-bound notepad before continuing with her final question for me, looking annoyed.
“Picking up where we left off, Mister Shkreli, can you please describe for the court what happened immediately after you left the offices of TRG Commercial Realty at 223 Broome Street on the date in question, October 22nd of last year?”
I didn’t like the way that she was trying to fence me in but I wasn't particularly concerned. I had bigger problems.
“Well, like I said, I don’t really remember that day. There was nothing memorable about it. It was just another day.”
She stared at me for a few seconds then flashed a quick look at the jury box with her eyebrows raised before returning her attention to the judge. “No more questions, Your Honor.”
I was dismissed from the stand but asked to remain in the courtroom as she called her next witness; a small, frail woman from Queens about my same age named Maureen Stewart. She had an odd, twitchy nature about her. I wanted to get home. I wanted to relax.
“Miss Stewart, can you please tell the court where you were on October 22nd of last year at approximately 3:30 in the afternoon?”
The witness looked down for a moment and then glanced towards the judge before removing the slightly confused look from her face and responding in a semi-automated tone.
“Yes, Miss Anderson. At that time, I was just leaving my day shift at the FedEx Office Store (she pronounced it ‘Staw’ in her thick New York accent) on Broome Street and I was walking towards the station for the Six Train to begin my ride back home.”
The attorney for the defense took a momentary pause and then asked her next question.
“And can you please tell us what happened then?”
The witness looked down again and then looked back at the judge, then the jury and, finally, at me. I didn’t like the way she looked at me.
“Yes, as I was leaving my workplace I crossed the street and I remember walking past the entrance to a narrow alleyway where I heard a commotion taking place. It made me stop and look for a second or two but I didn’t want to get involved so I just kept on walking towards the subway and I didn’t think too much about the whole thing until the Homicide detectives contacted me a few days later after they pulled the security camera videos. I came down to the police station the day after that and gave my statement. That was just over a year ago.”
Miss Anderson took a moment to stare at me. I didn’t like that either. I adjusted my left arm in my lap. It was completely numb.
“Thank you, Miss Stewart. Can you please be a bit more specific about what you saw occurring in that alleyway?”
Again, the witness looked down at the floor and then her eyes shot all around the courtroom before she responded.
“Well,” she said, before taking a brief pause. “At first I thought it was just a little scuffle but when I saw the shorter man in the black jacket punch the tall man in the belly a few times I saw some blood starting to spread on the side of his white button-down shirt and I saw what looked like a small knife or something in the shorter man’s hand. The tall thin man looked like he was starting to fall. I remember looking around for a police officer but I certainly wasn’t gonna do anything about it by myself. I mean, what could I do? When I didn’t see no one who could help I just kept on walking towards the subway. I guess I should have done more but I was scared and I just wanted to get back to Forest Hills to pick up my daughter from daycare before five o’clock.”
I glanced at the defendant seated at the table on the left. He looked both hopeful and nervous at the same time, but in a subtle way, like he didn’t want to appear to be either. He kept his head down and never once glanced towards the jury box. Miss Anderson asked her final question.
“Thank you, Miss Stewart. And do you see the man in the black jacket who stabbed the victim, Mister Baronston, on that day last October here in the courtroom now?”
Again the witness looked down at the floor between her feet for a moment and then looked back up, right at me. I felt my blood stop flowing through my veins, or at least through my left arm and the top of my right leg, when she raised up her hand and pointed her index finger at me.
“It was that man, there,” she said.
Miss Anderson nodded and paused for a moment, satisfied, letting it sink in for the jury members. I was stunned. The stylish defense attorney in the toney, expensive clothing began walking back in my direction and she too pointed an accusatory finger.
“If it pleases the court, let the record show that Miss Stewart has identified Mister Jack Shkreli as the attacker who she witnessed in the-”
Just then the witness on the stand, Miss Stewart, pointed her finger at the judge without really looking at him and suddenly blurted out, “Or him. It might have been him too. I’m not 100% sure...”
Miss Anderson paused, clearly nonplussed, and just stared at her witness. The judge also looked baffled for a second or two and then leaned over and whispered something to his court assistant and the two of them shared a quiet smirk.
Then the witness pointed at one of the jurors, a man in the front row about my size.
“Or him. It could have been him. I’m just not sure...” Then she went silent, as did the rest of the courtroom for a few moments. The State’s Attorney, a heavy-set bald man, broke the silence pretty quickly as he rose to his feet.
“Your Honor, the State would like to move to dismiss this witness along with all previous testimony.” He paused briefly and took a deep breath, choosing his next words.
“While we appreciate Miss Stewart’s willingness to appear at trial today, I think it’s clear that her recollection of events is…uncertain at best.” He glared at the defense table for a moment, then added “I’d just like to remind the court that Mister Shkreli” - and God bless him, he pronounced my two-syllable surname correctly - “is not on trial here and if this witness cannot distinguish the man she saw that day from yourself or a random member of our jury panel I don’t think we can accept this testimony or any further testimony from this witness.”
He hung his head respectfully, with the tiniest little smile on his face. He already knew he had won this argument and the judge quickly agreed, telling the jury to disregard what they just heard. Miss Stewart was dismissed from the stand and the defense had no other witnesses left to call. Less than two hours later the jury returned a guilty verdict against the defendant on all counts and the courtroom was cleared. The sentencing hearing would take place at a later date and I was not required to be there. My right leg was starting to feel numb by then but I still managed to get back to the office in time for Stavvy to head home at the end of his shift to make dinner for his kids. His wife was killed in a car accident two years earlier. He was a hard worker and I really liked him.
That night, back at my apartment, I did some research online and learned about a rare mental disorder known as Prosopagnosia. Here is what Wikipedia had to say.
Prosopagnosia, also known as face blindness, is a cognitive disorder of face perception in which the ability to recognize familiar faces, including one's own face (self-recognition), is impaired, while other aspects of visual processing (e.g. object discrimination) and intellectual functioning remain intact.
It all sounded pretty strange to me but if the doctors say it’s real who am I to argue? Apparently it is well documented in the DSM-5. I don’t know if this is the reason why I was able to walk away from the courtroom without consequence at first but I think it is the most likely explanation. I only know that when I left my client’s offices at TRG Commercial Realty on that day just over a year ago and hailed a cab I was stunned and confused when Mister Baronston, a complete stranger with a hostile face, suddenly attacked me, claiming that it was his cab and not mine.
He was bigger than me, tall and thin but strong, and I would have just given up the cab and caught the next one but he was clearly already very angry about something. When he backed me towards the alley, shoving me and then punching me around my head and neck, my backpack tumbled open and I saw my wallet and phone and some other items come crashing out onto the pavement. It was just a stupid and unnecessary altercation, the kind of thing that probably happens on the streets of this city every day, sadly. Too many people, not enough space. I did my best to fight back and protect myself but he was a good deal bigger than me.
Then I was getting punched some more and thrown against the alley wall as people passed by, disinterested, and I just instinctively reached into my jacket pocket and pulled out the pen knife that has been attached to my keychain for years. Before I really knew what was happening it was open and then my right hand was growing warm and red and slick with his blood. Then I was moving again, not looking back.
What an odd thing. I remember seeing Miss Stewart stopping there on the sidewalk to look from the mouth of the alley that day. Of all the passers-by, she was the only one who paused to look at us, at me, right as I desperately punctured Mister Baronston’s rib cage for the fifth or sixth time with my little penknife and he began to drop, but she averted her gaze after a few seconds and moved on and then I was rapidly heading in the opposite direction. This is a huge city and I never expected to see her face again. Fortunately, she was apparently never really able to see mine.
Anyway, I have more important problems to worry about at this time. Stavvy received a letter from the Manhattan DA’s office yesterday ordering him to appear at a grand jury hearing next month related to my involvement in Mister Baronston’s death. He showed it to me. More importantly, my left arm is just about gone now, my right leg is quickly starting to feel the same way and in just the last day or two I have begun feeling that strange tingling sensation in the tips of the fingers on my right hand. I know my liver is failing. It won’t be long now.
I scheduled a meeting with my lawyer in the morning to legally put the business and the rest of my assets in Stavvy’s name in my will. I have no family here anyway and almost no relatives who I remain close with back in Albania or Montenegro anymore. Stavvy is a good man and he has kids to feed and I have already lived a full life.
So yes, I will just leave it all to him and after that’s done I think I will get the old Ford minivan that we sometimes still use for the business and drive it out to the George Washington Bridge while I am still able. I know that when I stop it and get out and leave it there on the center-span I will screw up traffic badly and inconvenience a lot of people but I can’t worry about that. I have to do what I have to do. There’s no point in waiting for this to get worse. I can barely feel the fingers on my right hand and I don’t have much time left.
Maybe I should have told the truth at the trial. I don’t know. I think I was just too distracted by all of my health problems. I didn’t really have any choice at the time. I don’t have any choice now. I’m actually surprised that I lasted this long. I was certain that I would already be gone a few months ago but I feel I have done my best with this life.
As my people back in Albania say, Mos pyet si vdiq, por si rrojti!
“Do not ask how he died, but how he lived!”
THE END

2024.06.09 08:36 hellopeach181818 Teachers who have worked in childcare (or anyone really) ….. I need advice

I am currently a college student majoring in elementary education. I have always wanted to be a teacher because I love kids and helping others learn. I also want to be a mom one day! I have had a practicum in my education courses (like student teaching but not quite) which I loved (only half days & a couple times a week.) I got a job as a daycare worker to grow my experience with children. While I do like the kids and somewhat enjoy the job, after back to back 10 hour shift days it is just so hard. At the end of the day I am exhausted and I question how I made it through the day and if I can physically do it again. It’s only my first week though so I know adjusting can be hard. I also came down with an awful cold which isn’t making matters better. It’s making me wonder if I need to rethink going into teaching or if I just need to give it some time. I feel like I am too far into my education at this point being halfway done to change majors. I don’t even know what else I would do if it weren’t teaching. In the daycare I have worked with toddlers to preschoolers and while I find joy in all ages, I also find challenge and exhaustion. I also never got formal training they just threw me in there. I don’t know if it’s the age group, the management, the long hours, or if I’m not cut out to be a teacher.
Have any teachers worked in childcare and loved teaching but struggled with working in childcare?? What do I do? Do I need to rethink my major or is childcare different enough than k-6? I really need some guidance!

2024.06.09 08:20 FreeBirdInCages I (19M) confessed to my bestfriend (18M) that I've fallen for him. He said he is Bi but only dates girls. How do I move on?

I am a bit scared to open up about this but I have nowherelse to go. My country is operating under Shariah and our psychologist department are mostly trained under Ministry of religious affairs. English is also my second language
There's also going to be a lot of weird... Things in this story but bare with me.
So Ive just met him (I'll call him Alex) last January when we started college. And he came to me first because he saw on my laptop wallpaper is an image of an obsucre Japanese wrestler who we both quickly learn we have a crush on. He was more open about it than I was. We became friends from here. He also said I look really cute and well... My stomach was full of butterflies.
From there we hangout outside of class when we can (we're both taking different subjects). And we learnt a lot about eachother. We like the same things, the same kpop/jpop group, like the same food, etc etc etc. We even kinda delve into wrestling themed uhmm... Fetish video. Of 2 guys. Like... I dont know, I guess I didn't even need to ask his preference.
He would prioritize me over his two bffs that he knew since middle school. I dont hang with them.
So just last 2nd June. I decided to confess my feelings and he said he always knew but (Please help me understand this) he said he is Bi, he only sexually likes boys but he cannot get in a relationship with one, only girls. And he finds me attractive, but he doesn't want a relationship. He hasna crush on one of his 2 bff.
I was confused and heartbroken all in once that I acted out ugly.
He kept telling me we're still bestfriends, and Im very very important. He won't stop hanging with me but what the fuck am I supposed to do? I can't pretend that everytime I see him, I love him. Im able to just act normal around him now, but I sense I won't be rational when he gets a girlfriend or something.
Im sorry this is everywhere. I never intended to ever date or come out to anyone. I've just accepted that being gay here is a crime but now... The first time Im willing to ended this way.
What do I do? Where do I go from here?

2024.06.09 08:10 Flares117 Where do you think the Velvet Room is in P6, and how do you think Persona fusions/summoning will work since it changes from game to game depending on the theme.

To summarize what most fans know, but for the newer ones.
P3 : Accepting Death - Hence evokers are gun and by shooting it represents you accepting death. The Velvet room is an elevator reaching the final destination.
P4: Rejecting Fate/Destiny : Hence breaking/crushing cards symbolizes rejecting pre ordained destiny. You are in a limo traveling to your destination.
P5: Public perception/cognition, tearing off the mask you put on in public and revealing your true self. You are in jail for numerous thematic reasoning besides the plot, as your true self is caged. You kill/execute personas to combine them vs card mixing like the prev 2.
My thoughts on P6 based on what we think we know
Main color theme is Green. P3 was blue, P4 Gold, P5 Red.
Green - Thematically the color for Envy, Greed (money), Nature, Abundance, growth, and health.
There are many ways we can interpret this, either A. supposedly leaks that it will take place in a tertiary school like college may be true, maybe it takes place in a Business School or an MBA program or trade school (doubt). Standard highschool setting where maybe social media is a core plot point like some theories (I also doubt)
My thoughts : Envy - Not exactly pure social media, but the Envy one feels trying to measure up to others on social media and influencers who portray their life as glamorous. Core plot point would to be accepting your life as is and not try to emulate someone else. However, that would bring it too close to P5's theme. So I might be off.
Option 2 . Growth - My best theory - Combined with the above, its more likely its showing your character growing which if it is NOT a HS setting, could be evolving a character. My biggest hope is Growth is the theme and that means the protag can be a past Persona child now young adult. Ken Amaki, Nanako, Maiko, etc are all in their 20s lorewise. Could be the theory of dual protagonists meaning let's say Ken and Nanako. Both close to the protags in P3/P4. They both have to live up towards their heroes, being the proganists of those games. In the end they will realize they are their own heroes as well, unique to them.

Phish, Tuesday 06/09/2009 (15 years ago) Asheville Civic Center, Asheville, NC, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 2009 Early Summer Tour
Set 1 : Kill Devil Falls , The Moma Dance , Sample in a Jar , Stash , Dog Faced Boy , Gumbo , Tube , Lengthwise , Divided Sky , When the Cactus is in Bloom 1 , Bold As Love
Set 2 : Backwards Down the Number Line > Ghost > Fast Enough for You , Halley's Comet > Maze , Alaska 1 , Theme From the Bottom , Golgi Apparatus , Possum
Encore : Loving Cup
1 Phish debut.
Jamchart Notes:
Backwards Down the Number Line - "Type I" version with great strumming by Trey and a short outro jam that > to "Ghost."
Show Notes:
This show featured the Phish debuts of When the Cactus is in Bloom and Alaska. Before Dog Faced Boy, Trey explained that while living with Fish, he wrote Dog Faced Boy, Tube and Gumbo based on entries in one of Fish's journals. During Dog Faced Boy, Fish left his drum kit and lay down in front of the stage because he didn't need to sing the song. Lengthwise (performed a cappella ) was played for the first time since July 28, 1998 (235 shows). Bold as Love was played for the first time since October 6, 2000 (74 shows).

Phish, Friday 06/09/2000 (24 years ago) On Air East, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, , Japan
Gap Chart, Tour: 2000 Summer Japan Tour
Set 1 : Axilla > Taste , Billy Breathes , Poor Heart > Golgi Apparatus > Funky Bitch , The Moma Dance > First Tube > Chalk Dust Torture
Set 2 : Tweezer , Bouncing Around the Room 1 , The Mango Song , The Squirming Coil > Gotta Jibboo > Meatstick 2 > Tweezer Reprise
Encore : You Enjoy Myself
1 Brief outro solo from Trey, which replaced the usual closing guitar lick. 2 First Meatstick to feature Japanese lyrics.
Jamchart Notes:
Funky Bitch - Atypically improvisational must-hear monster.
Chalk Dust Torture - Winning fans in Japan. This huge first-set-closing version raises hell and ends, but then there's a second ending that concludes cacophonously.
Tweezer - Atypically slow but monstrously improvisational version that has several peaks and valleys before speeding-up and concluding in a melodic, triumphant, must-fucking-hear manner.
The Mango Song - Ending jam segment stretches the limits of the basic jam with some nice rhythmic variation, but still stays "in bounds."
You Enjoy Myself - Deeeep, funky jam/groove, and the return of the B&D; segment!
Show Notes:
The Moma Dance included Funky Bitch teases and Tweezer included Funk #49 teases. This was the first ever Meatstick to feature Japanese lyrics and Trey flubbed the words while attempting to sing them. Bouncing included a brief outro solo from Trey, which replaced the usual closing guitar lick. This show was re- broadcast on Japanese television.

Phish, Friday 06/09/1995 (29 years ago) Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Morrison, CO, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 1995 Summer Tour
Set 1 : My Friend, My Friend , Divided Sky , Strange Design > The Oh Kee Pa Ceremony > AC/DC Bag > Theme From the Bottom , Taste , Sparkle > Run Like an Antelope
Set 2 : Split Open and Melt , The Wedge , Scent of a Mule , Cavern > David Bowie , Acoustic Army , Sweet Adeline , Slave to the Traffic Light
Encore : The Squirming Coil
Jamchart Notes:
Run Like an Antelope - Unusual jam. Sort of off-key. Sort of evil. Dissonant and anti-melodic. No real peak; it just fades into "Rocco."
Split Open and Melt - Improvisational playing in several sections tests the rhythmic and melodic standards for "SOAM" in this solid version.
Show Notes:
Part of the soundcheck's jam consisted of 25 or 6 to 4.

Phish, Thursday 06/09/1994 (30 years ago) Triad Amphitheater, Salt Lake City, UT, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 1994 Summer Tour
Set 1 : Llama , Guelah Papyrus , Rift , Down with Disease > It's Ice > If I Could > Maze , Fee 1 , Suzy Greenberg
Set 2 : Split Open and Melt , Glide > Julius , Halley's Comet -> Scent of a Mule , Ginseng Sullivan 2 , Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove , Golgi Apparatus
Encore : Highway to Hell
1 Trey sang verses through megaphone. 2 Acoustic and without microphones. Fish on Madonna washboard.
Jamchart Notes:
It's Ice - Good rocking jam with excellent Fish and solid Trey (of course Page is great).
Mike's Song - The 1st jam is rocking and ass kicking, with a clever little "Tweeprise"-like walk up. The 2nd jam is basically a non-vocal version of something very "Simple"-like. Just listen and you'll hear it. The return to "Mike's" has more crazed '94 scream-infused power action.
Show Notes:
Trey sang the verses of Fee through a megaphone. Ginseng Sullivan was performed acoustic without microphones and featured Fish on Madonna washboard.

Phish, Saturday 06/09/1990 (34 years ago) The Wetlands Preserve, New York, NY, USA
Gap Chart, Tour: 1990 Tour
Set 1 : Possum , Lawn Boy > Reba , Dinner and a Movie > Bouncing Around the Room > Tweezer , Uncle Pen > Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove
Set 2 : Whole Lotta Love Jam > Harry Hood , The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday > Avenu Malkenu > La Grange , Fee -> Foam , The Oh Kee Pa Ceremony > Suzy Greenberg > Run Like an Antelope , Hold Your Head Up > Terrapin > Hold Your Head Up , Harpua , Good Times Bad Times
Encore : Take the 'A' Train > Contact
Jamchart Notes:
Foam - -> in from "Fee." Groovy and excellent Page section with solid backing from Mike and Fish. It's all good from there.
Run Like an Antelope - Good exploratory version that gets nicely beyond the standard. Great tension, dissonance and experimental jamming.
Show Notes:
Harpua included Funkytown teases and 'A' Train contained a Dixie tease from Trey. The band launched into the second set-opening Whole Lotta Love Jam as the DJ had been spinning the original Zeppelin version. The opening act was The Aquarium Rescue Unit.

Number Question Answer Topics Answer Link
51 What happened to the coc/supercell support? They are just closing the Tickets (to many cases bla bla.) There's been an unfortunate bunch of situations behind the scenes that have impacted our support recently. It's not good enough and its frustrated us on the Clash team too. Supercell's Player Support team does have a bunch of great smart people and with recent new joiners, I believe they will figure out better ways to give you all the high quality support you deserve. Player Support Issues https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dg3so/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
52 Do you guys have some idea or plan to update the XP system in Clash of clans I mean other supercell games have already done that so, can we see some updates to the XP system? Also are you guys planing to add more leagues in the game? Your individual player XP isn't very meaningful or important in the game. I'm not sure we'd remove it but it's more likely make it less prominent and not on the main screen than make it more important. Player XP System https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dk9l3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
53 The last couple AMAs you guys talked about the Invitation of new members getting a revamp, can you give us a little bit more info about that? We've been working hard on this and had been hoping to get this in for our June update. Unfortunately it wasn't quite done in time. We probably will share the idea in the next few eeks and get some feedback before launching it in a future update this year. Quality of Life https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7d1lm9/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
54 Hello Stuart. What is the difference between a general manager and a community manager? Do you make the updates for the game? Also when will customer support for clash of clans be improved? People have been complaining about customer support and how hard it is to actually get to a human to help them with their problem My role as General Manager is to make sure we have the right team to take care of everything that goes into making and running Clash, and making sure the team has everything they need to do their best work in all of their individual fields. Our Community managers are focused on being the bridge between our team and you players. Making sure we hear your thoughts on what we're doing, as well as making sure you hear what we're up to. Whether that's through our own channels directly or by helping our creator community. The only hands work for updates I do today is writing a bunch of the in-game texts still. The funny jokes, those are the ones I write honest, the ones that aren't funny, yeah those are somebody else. 😅 Quality of Life https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7d392x/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
55 Esteemed Sir I do beseech thee, with all the humility and earnestness of my heart, to consider the addition of a confirm button for the purpose of signing up to the revered "Legend Leagues" within thy esteemed game. Such a feature would surely be a boon to all who partake in the grandeur of thy creation, providing clarity and assurance to the valiant players.Thy consideration in this matter would be met with the deepest gratitude and enduring loyalty of thy devoted community. Yours in earnest supplication, Andy Esteemed Andy, I must kindly ask, is this a problem one has been encountering since farming in "fake legends" to get that little bit extra sweet ore? Your faithful servant, Stuart Quality of Life https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7d4wd5/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
56 Why does quick army queue fixed troops, instead of building the army I want, discarding and recylcling what's already there ? We've got revamps to army training planned which should solve this problem for you (and some others). It'll probably launch alongside the TH17 update if things go to plan. Quality of Life https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7d62fa/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
57 Can we perhaps see more QoL changes/editions to clan capital in the future such as co leaders and above being able to see who donated last to a building (to see if there are trolls purposefully putting their gold in expensive stuff/obstacles that the leaders don't want to invest into for now), being able to save army compositions, buttons to help navigate through the districts more efficiently, among other things? 1.5. When capital hall level 11 comes and new buildings and district hall levels being added, where do you think players would get the new buildings? Are we gonna be getting a shop of some kind for those, since having more ruins wouldn't make much sense and could ruin base layouts? 2. With the recent balance changes nerfing a lot of the defenses, players have been complaining that the game is getting too easy and the strategic aspects of the game is being compromised in favor of catering to a more general audience that doesn't have the time to learn complex attack strategies. What do you think about that, and do you think you guys can find other alternatives to create a balance between being strategic gameplay and casual appeal? 3. What year do you think was the greatest for Clash of Clans, and has 2024 been a great year for the game so far? 4. Do you keep any pets, and if so, what is it? 5. What do you think about the mobile gaming scene nowadays, and what factors do you think have made Clash of Clans be able to stand out from its competitors? 6. Are there any concepts that you (or the team) really like, but ultimately couldn't make it into the game due to it having fundamental issues that makes it either very difficult to balance, going against the game's inherent designs, or other reasons? Picking a few to answer We're currently focusing on the Home Village but figuring out how we'll keep on top of Capital QoL and other improvements. 1.5 In the past we've talked about doing some kind of defence swapping mechanic where you could move defenses between districts (similar to swapping defenses in Builder's Base). There'd need to be some kind of restrictions as we do like each district having its own identity and specialities. We had a troop concept based on the Blob, which absorbed things and got stronger and stronger. It was impossible to balance as it was getting stronger whilst the base got weaker. Quality of Life, Clan Capital https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7d8frz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
58 Thanks Stuart for this AMA. I have a few questions: Will supercell continue to cater towards the casuals? I understand that casuals are the high spenders but back in the days, coc used to be a strategy based game. Let's say you have the capacity to make any changes to the game you want. What would you change and why? I'm sure you play the game. Do you support strategic rushing or maxing every townhall? Why? How exactly are balance changes done? Like based on what data? Can we expect another collab anytime soon? Clash has and always will be a game for a ton of different people for different playstyles. We'll do our best to keep adding things for different folk and let people customise their own experience. I'd love for Clash players to be able to make their own troops + defenses and come up with their own wild creations. This is a game where y'all make stuff for one another and it'd be great to go even more in that direction. I've always moved up to the next Town Hall when I feel done with the current one. I think that's the best way to play and that's gonna be different for different players. It's a combination of subjective feedback and looking into the use and 3 star rates of different things. Root Rider isn't the troop with the highest win-rate in legends, that's Super Barbarian, but it is used more often. We never want one strategy to be so dominant that you feel you must play that way. Quality of Life, Game Development https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dbkoy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
59 Hello there Stuart, thanks for taking the time to do an AMA, I have several questions, both in and outside the game. I'm an Alliance Admin, can we see changed to the reddit recruitment system? I have spoken with many different large and small families or alliances, we all agree that the Reddit Recruitment System needs changing, some moderators seem to abuse their power and only favour Recruitment posts from Reddit based clans, many alliances and families have been banned from recruiting there without much reasons. Root Riders. They have been a challenge to balance, have you ever considered changing the housing space capacity? I don't understand how Root Riders are 12 housing space less than Electro Titans. Any plans to potentially revert a nerf or two and increase the housing space? That would balance the meta out and see other attacks shift back into the meta. Coming from an Alliance point of view, can we see love for the larger Alliances and Families in the community, currently supporter codes are only for Clash Content Creators and other significant parties like Clash King, but I feel like us Alliances and Families do create strong communities and provide a lot for the community. If the larger communities could be allowed Creator Codes we could create more events and host more giveaways for our members. Long story short, any plans to add larger Communities to the Supporter Code system? Or working with the larger Communities in other unique ways that can be positive both on a small and large scale? What is the Clash Teams plans for Quarter 3 and 4 of the year? Anything big we can keep our eyes out for? We'll keep an eye on how the Root Rider does after the current balance changes. But housing space adjustment is for sure an option, and it's been something we've done in the past. Recruitment, Troops, Alliances https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7d51eq/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
60 Why is Supercells activity on Reddit so low since Darian left? I just went over to Ferri and Frame's desks to pass on this message and they promise to be more active! Reddit Activity https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dgake/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
61 will there ever be some reduction in the time/cost of laboratory upgrades, or possibly an opportunity for a 2nd lab upgrade slot outside of just using the goblin builder? lab upgrades tend to take longer for me than anything else. secondly, in town hall 16 i can see an attempt to save space in the base by combining defenses. are there more planss to compress the base further so new defensive buildings can be built without overcrowding being a problem? finally do you think there will be a crimson and black themed town hall because that would be sick Lab times take a bit longer than buildings because most players don't use every troop/spell/siege so don't worry about finishing those before moving on up to the next Town Hall. We added Research Potions for Raid Medals so players wanting more balance could get there. But we'll keep monitoring player progress to make sure this stays healthy (and there's definitely some Town Halls more unbalanced than others). Research Upgrade Times https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dkv7a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
62 Hey I’m pretty sure you already heard this but the RR nerf didn’t work. It's early days but in the stats it does seem to be working. We'll see where it settles and decide what to do next. RR Nerf Effectiveness https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dqape/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
63 Any plans to increase the 30s scout time in legends league / friendly challenges? With all of the decisions to make at th16 it’s becoming increasingly difficult to come up with a suitable plan in time We have something coming in the June update that can help you use the scout time more effectively. But we discussed increasing it at the same time and ultimately decided not to. The worry of having too long a scout time is everyone feels they have to use it, and attacking takes longer. We will see how things go after the June update and decide if further changes are needed. Scout Time in Legends League https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dpq8q/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
64 Will we ever get more housing space for spells? We don't plan to but I'd never say never. Spell Housing Space https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dn703/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
65 Would you consider allowing players to use one supertroop per week for free? I feel like they are very underused due to the 25k DE price, and this would make attacks more fun Yeah we're not happy with the Super Troop system either. Trying to think of how we'll change it so they're more widely enjoyed. Super Troop System Changes https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7de3gn/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
66 Is there going to be a possibility to test out new equipment on a high/maxed out level before having to invest resources into them? For example in friendly challenges? Or with a magic item that maxes equipment for a certain time period? I was thinking about letting us play with them in the playground like super troops That's an option we've been thinking about too. Testing New Equipment https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7diop?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
67 Hi Stuart, do you plan on implementing a tournemant mode or some other kind of mode, where troops and buildings are differently balanced, so it is more challanging for the top players and the casuals are still able to have fun? Answered this elsewhere but we're adding a Hard Mode for this purpose. Hope you enjoy it. Tournament Mode https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dboqa/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
68 How far in advance do you think of the next town hall’s theme? Our art team had something rough in mind even while thinking of the TH16 theme. They started refining that more earlier this year. Town Hall Themes https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7ddt4t/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
69 Was the design of any of the troops based off anyone that worked in Supercell? For example, if the giant was an exaggerated caricature of a large redhead in the Clash team I don't think so, but I only joined in 2017 so didn't meet everyone who was here in 2012 Troops https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dabhx/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
70 Hey! Why don't we have the Clash of Clans user interface good looking as any other supercell games out there. I mean every other supercell game animations and user interface are an absolute pleasure to watch. How do you feel about these things to be added into the game. Redesigned Clan Chat with better functionality and animations. Emotes availability in clan chat, War spectating etc. Clan Name Change Clan Banner Change with some sort of animations and other added features. Do you think the overall game user interface needs an overhaul. I think it has become sort of boring interacting with the same user interface over the years. Adding specific eye candy elements could make it a little bit more eye pleasing. Thanks! We're one of the company's oldest games and we also have the most screens and features. We have recently hired some more folk to help us improve our UI/UX and are also working on some technical improvements to make it easier and faster for us to refresh our UI + UX. UI/UX Improvements https://www.reddit.com/ClashOfClans/comments/1d9ggko/comment/l7dp6gu/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
71 Maybe think of other creative ways to merge defenses, like turning wizard towers into superwizard towers, maybe 2 teslas into a megatesla and so on, the more unique defenses in the village, the better! 2024.06.09 07:05 Aros001 I disagree that [SPOILER] was Horikoshi subverting expectations.

Every now and then I'll see someone say that All Might not dying in the final arc was Horikoshi trying to subvert expectations but I disagree. And I don't mean in the "Oh, I'm so smart. I knew he wouldn't do it." sort of way.
Killing off the mentor character is a common trope in a lot of media. Certainly. But not doing that doesn't inherently mean that the story is subverting expectations, since no matter how common or uncommon a trope or plot point may be it is the story itself that sets what the audience is to expect. For example, if any given series suddenly kills off a character who had more story left to tell, that's typically a subversion of expectations. But if Game of Thrones does it, that's not a subversion of expectations because that series set the expectation very early on that anyone could die. Even if it's extremely uncommon to kill off characters like that in most other series, GOT killing off characters like that isn't a subversion of our expectations, it is meeting the expectations it has set for us.
All Might not dying in the battle of Kamino Ward? THAT was a subversion of expectations. The series up until that point had been pushing the idea that he didn't have much time left, that eventually Midoriya might be left all on his own, and things were building up to the reveal of his old archenemy, All For One, with the confrontation finally coming in Kamino Ward. We the audience were expecting him to die in that battle because the story had led us to believe that it was going to happen. Compare that to, say, Jiraiya from Naruto. Killing off the mentor was just a common trope back when that series was coming out but we still weren't exactly terrified that Jiraiya was going to die during the search for Tsunade or most of the arcs prior to Pain's because the story had given us no reason to believe it'd do such a thing. So having All Might live on after Kamino Ward, only now powerless and unable to save the day on his own anymore, was a subversion of what we were expecting.
But by contrast, him being saved and surviving in the final arc of MHA isn't a subversion of expectations, because that was a possibility the story had been pushing for us to expect.
Ever since Kamino Ward the story has been addressing how useless All Might felt not being able to save everyone and solve everything on his own like he used to, how he potentially "missed his chance to die", and of course Nighteye's prediction about his death. The idea is that instead of going out in a blaze of glory with his legend intact if he'd died in Kamino Ward, if he were to die now it would be unspeakably gruesome and a death without point, just tragedy. Combine that with All Might's vow to keep living for Midoriya's sake, his and Midoriya's promise to keep fighting fate, and All Might doing whatever he can to support those inspired by him even in spite of his powerless state, and the series is essentially building up to a fork in the road in the lead up to All Might and AFO's final confrontation in the final arc.
We're not specifically expecting All Might to die like we were for Kamino Ward, nor are we specifically expecting him to live. Rather we are waiting to see which path the story will go down because it has established BOTH as two very reasonable expectations for us to have as to the outcome of the confrontation. All Might lives and it's a triumph, because the characters managed to beat back fate, or All Might dies and it's a tragedy, because their actions still weren't enough to beat fate. And given the general tone and themes of the series the former was obviously more likely, but even if the latter had occurred it wouldn't have been a subversion of our expectations because the story had been telling us to expect that as a potential outcome.
A subversion would have been more along the lines of something like AFO successfully killing All Might but in the process of doing so his Rewind Quirk affects All Might too and not only brings him back to life but also restores his body to his pre-injured state. All Might dies AND lives, which is not something we would have been expecting, regardless of how the series' internal logic could technically have it make sense.
For another comparison, let's look at Chainsaw Man. MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD.
Since basically her introduction the story heavily implies that, no matter how nice she may act towards Denji, Makima is very dangerous and not to be trusted. But even so,>! the complete slaughter she orchestrated of everyone Denji had come to care about was a huge subversion of expectations, since the story had been leading us to believe that we would have more time with those other characters, at least until their inevitable confrontation with the Gun Devil, who we likewise thought was going to be the big boss but turns out to already be basically another tool in Makima's arsenal!<.
Again, when Game of Thrones kills off significant characters, that's not a subversion of expectations because that series trains you to expect such deaths as the norm. But in Chainsaw Man, even with some character deaths already under its belt, it never led you to expect anything like what Makima did to so many significant characters, thus why their deaths and that entire tragic situation was a subversion.
Or, as a lighter example since I know some are split on how they feel about Chainsaw Man's part 2, how about the Dragon Scroll from the first Kung Fu Panda? The power being inside the character all along is certainly not a new trope, but the scroll being blank is still a subversion of the expectations the story had been building up for the audience throughout the movie until that reveal. Everyone, from Tai Lung to Shifu to Tigress and thus even Po believe that the Dragon Scroll is something mystical that will grant literal power to whoever reads it. The only one who knew the truth was Oogway and he always chose his words carefully in order to not give away the deception.
The scroll being just empty shiny paper fits very well with the movie's main themes and ideas, as well as much of the general philosophy of martial arts, but it is still a subversion of expectations because of what we'd been made to expect by the story.
Heck, what about Alien? In plenty of horror movies it's fairly common for the main character to survive until the end even when all the other characters get killed off, but if you watch the movie Ripley is not initially set-up and established like she's the main character. Rather, that would be Kane. He's the one we enter the movie with and who's perspective we spend a decent deal following around until the Facehugger latches onto him. Kane initially seems like he's our protagonist and thus it's a subversion of our expectations, as the movie set them up, for him to be the first one to die.
In all these examples we are set up to expect a certain payoff, thus why it's a subversion when we get something else, while All Might not dying in the final arc isn't a subversion of expectations because that was a potential payoff we were set-up to expect for that storyline.
TL;DR: Just because certain tropes or plots are common doesn't mean a story subverted expectations by not doing them. It depends on what the story itself actually set you up to expect.

2024.06.09 05:49 TheShad0wKnight THEORY - Indigo Park may be a true Mascot Horror

So Ive had this theory for a while and wanted to know the communities thoughts, my theories involve the characters/mascots and how they exist.
So to begin its obvious these things are living, we see them have blood (when Mollie died) but definately act like their animal counterparts. But even after death I dont think this is the end for characters like Mollie and them showing up.
So how are they living? Well they are human but have been fused and mutated with their costumes. The game has many connections to theme parks such as disney which are popular for their costumed perfomers and I think the park wanted them to be more authentic.
"But how would that happen?" You may ask, well I think it could connect to Salem. When we first see Salem its in the destroyed room while on the train then later seeing her in the arcade game where they turn Mollie evil with potions and I think it may be deeper in reality than we may think.
Maybe some scientists or something were working on ways of making their costumes sentient and more alive and came up with a potion that had some name involving Salem (Y'know company synergy) and using it on their employees to merge them with the mascot suits, causing a hatred for Salem as thats what the procedure involed leading to the destroyed room.
Well what do you think? Is this a good theory? Anyone have anything to add?

2024.06.09 05:45 JessiJStan Trip report for [Kings Dominion]

Trip report for [Kings Dominion]
Hey guys! Checking in from Virginia today. Kind of an impromptu trip as my roommate has family up here, and she had to come up for the weekend, so we made the most of it! A few general comments, then coaster ranks and reviews to follow.
General
This park is really beautiful. I don’t see that mentioned here a lot! It’s so well maintained and has a great wooded setting. The ride ops though, really seem overworked here. Sending trains out every 4 minutes was good for them it seemed. No more than two workers in the station at a time for any ride really sucks on a Saturday. Not sure if this is a trend here but it is well past school time, so i’m surprised by this. Also jesus, the crowd here is just so disrespectful? The amount of times the ops had to tell teenagers to get off the handrails and the line cutting was crazy. Really felt like I was at SFoG. They stopped four different rides on the lift hills to force people to put phones away. Like how hard is it? Will you die without it for five seconds?? This somewhat put a damper on what was, mostly, a good day.
Coasters (Ascending order of ranking)
Reptilian (#103) x1
I know this is a classic and a dying model, but it didn’t do much for me. It was okay, but nothing to write home about.
Apple Zapple (#101) x1
This wild mouse braked HARD. The models with the big drop to start are usually my favorites, but alas, we were braked time after time.
Anaconda (#97) x1
This really wasn’t bad in the way I thought it was gonna be. I knew its reputation of being rough (my whole party wouldn’t ride it with me lol). But it wasn’t headbanging central if you rode defensively a bit. I’m also a bit taller, so my ears don’t rest between the restraints. HOWEVER, this ride is boring for the most part. So much filler and not enough anything else. The corkscrews over the water saved this from being sub 100.
Grizzly (#96) x1
The retrack was nice! I will say I don’t think I gave this a fair ride. Sat somewhere near the middle bc this was rushed and the last ride for half our party, so they wanted to leave soon. Back row would probably give some air, but this didn’t. I’ll have to give it another shot sometime, but for now it’s here.
Racer 75 (#90) x1
Another classic, another eh? ride. Racer at Kings Island runs better, faster, and gives some air. This just meanders around for a bit. It’s nowhere near rough, but hey, sometimes roughness gives the false impression of forces lol.
Backlot Stunt Coaster (#79) x1
I do think this is the worst of the three. It ran a bit rougher than the rest and no theming aspects seemed to be running. Not much else to say.
Tumbili (#65) x1
Now we are getting to the interesting stuff. Somehow this is my first free spin! Mostly due to the fact that I’m nowhere near any Six Flags parks besides SFoG. I feel like I got a really good ride on this one. Flipped at least 4 times. The first being so disorienting. 10/10 for the gimmick, but that really is all it is.
Dominator (#45) x1
I know a lot of people call this the best flourless in the country, but Kraken still has it beat for me. The ops were tough on this one, not gonna lie. Trains every 5 minutes if they were lucky. Not having the straight drop does hurt it a bit. Cobra roll was great, first corkscrew great, but the rest was a little run of the mill B&M. It’s also weird this is the park’s only B&M ever. Well, till next year.
Project 305 (#9) x3
I greyed out for my first time here! I really am surprised they haven’t reprofiled this thing to appeal to the masses. It could have a large overback or something, but I can appreciate them not doing so. This is my least favorite drop on a giga, but damn the intensity on this is unworldly. The switchbacks are so well done. Even better than Mavericks IMO. Part of me wants to say this is a front row ride, but I’d need more rides to decide.
Twisted Timbers (#5)
Another park, another top RMC. How does a hundred foot ride keep that level of speed and intensity for that track? Riding this thing at night is great bc its sense of speed is doubled. I know it’s somewhat of a one trick pony, but it’s the second best at that trick in my opinion. Second only to AF1 for airtime intensity. The barrel drop adds a new dimension, along with the zero-g roll. I do think a low to the ground stall would’ve pushed this ride to even better. Good lord though, the lap bars just don’t move, so if you have room, be ready to be flung into them over and over.
Overall
I need to come to this park on a slower day and get more of a picture of its identity and its rides. Some, I feel like I got great rides, some I don’t think I saw them at their best. I’m excited for the new wing coaster though! It seems like they have started pouring the footers, so it’s most likely happening soon!
Feel free to share any comments or questions and happy riding y’all!

2024.06.09 05:36 SatisfactionLeather7 Valarr III - Some Make Wedding Plans, I Drink and I Fight. (OPEN)

In the Sands of Dorne they organised a party. In the ruins of a fish-keep, they plotted something. Valarr had been invited to one, but not the other and he had little reason to believe he ever would have been. Alas, it was not his place to bemoan, he had his role in life, and that was to be the Master of Ships. But when there was no war and trade flowed freely, what then?
Valarr used that time to simply enjoy the city he helped build up.
In his manse, just north of the Red Keep, Valarr had a plethora of amenities. it was his own personal keep among the city. He had a forge for his own needs, a small fighting arena in a garden, fit for duels, but little larger. He had a neatly arranged aforementioned garden, with the flowers arranged in beautiful and fragrant sections. But there remained a theme, white and blue on one side, black and whiten on the other. For the Seahorse and the wolf.
Beyond those gardens where paved paths intersected around a heart tree he had planted for his wife, there were small glass houses. Some for growing, most for simply resting in the sun with a modicum of privacy. He knew his halls were stalked by spies at all times, but that was of little bother. If they wanted his secrets, they mostly only needed ask.
Within the manse itself, the building was of three stories. The bricks were painted in a Myrish style, turned the turquoise of his house colours, and dusted with white to cool the colour. Rounded domes sat on the roofs and there was a tower a few stories higher where he could sit and enjoy the view of the city, from a much less lofty spot than in his room in the Red Keep. Here, his family stayed, they trained, they rested, and in the case of some of his children, they moped... in fact most did that these days.
It was his way to watch his children thrive, but this place did little for them.
He was still however, master of ships and beyond that, he was a fighter, and so, he would take his own stress out.
"Why me?" Asked his daughter.
"You are the least involved so far," Valarr quickly replied, the steel of his blade cracking against her own. She darted back quickly, fast as ever. But even as she invested in the duel, she did not carry a sense of interest. Not yet.
"You could have asked Laena then. She's been a moping bitch since the feast," she snapped back, lunging in, slashing twice, but being dodged once and deflected the second time.
Valarr held firm as she retreated again, this time with her brows further furrowed. More than usual anyway. Which was an achievement to say the least.
"I could have, but then I would be ignoring all of my children. And now that Rhaegal is back, there is less time for each, so yes. Here I am, dueling you, because at least this way, my daughter can have something to do."
She frowned, "I have... I have heaps I can do," she snapped and she stabbed in, her thinner, longer blade coming at him swiftly. Though he simply whipped his sword up and swatted it aside. Quickly, he stepped in, dagger point angled at her chest.
She stopped, stance held, and then she looked down and with watery eyes she dropped her practise sword and for a moment just stood there. He reset his stance, and sheathed his dagger. Then, he returned his sword and hers tot he rack and walked back to her, putting an arm around her shoulder.
"You're a fool," he sighed, "but you are my youngest fool. Don't be discouraged by defeat, be empowered by it... come, let us go and see what trouble awaits."
"It's not fair," she moped, though she did not break free.
"I'm better than you, and much older. I'm going to win more often than not," he corrected, and she grimaced.
"Still."
"Even still... the world isn't fair, my love. But preparation and practise go a long way to equalising the woes of the world."
Still, he saw her mouth, and he just rested his hand on her head.
"Like Maegor, you'll be better than me one day."

2024.06.09 05:12 Maryberry_13 [Canada’s Wonderland] trip report!! First one of the year, woop woop!!

[Canada’s Wonderland] trip report!! First one of the year, woop woop!!
First of all, today was freaking awesome!! First time going to the park this early and I’m SO glad we kicked off the season like this. Best day ever. To get into it, I finally got to meet up with a fellow thoosie friend after interacting with him for so long. We had a blast.
We went on: Tundra Twister Dragon Fyre 2x White Water Canyon Snoopy’s Racing Railway (boy, am I about to gush about this ride). Backlot Stunt Coaster Solo rides on Psyclone 2x Solo ride on Leviathan
We didn’t get Fast Lane so we only went on the first five rides together. Still a very fun day. I got my first ride on WWC and boy, did we get soaked. We had a fun ride with four other boys and we were all laughing each time one of us got wet. Psyclone’s ops were extremely slow and it was pretty obvious one of them was new. I sympathize with her but it was just little things like struggling to lift up everyone’s restraints, failing to do proper restraint checks, etc. so operations took longer than normal. She was slowly getting it together though, it’s normal for a new person. She handled it well. It was a bit frustrating but I understood.
Also, Levi’s ride ops made me and two other girls wait for two trains to enteexit the station before letting us get our things?? We were all confused and at first, we thought our stuff got stolen. Not once have I ever been told to wait for trains to enter and exit before I was able to grab my stuff but alright. It was even weirder because they unlocked the other bins. Oh well.
We also got a super crazy ride on Tundra. It was a blast. Dragon Fyre is slowly growing on me as well. Gotta keep your head back though. SNOOPY’S RACING RAILWAY WAS AMAZING. First of all, the theming was chef’s kiss. The ride itself really brought out our inner child. We booked it to Kidzville lol.
We couldn’t get to ride the other big two due to long waits. We skipped on The Bat as well. I was so upset when I found out my sister and her friend got free Fast Lanes after Sledgehammer broke down. Of course they used it on Yukon. Definitely getting on Yukon when I go back in three weeks.
TIL, rain days are actually pretty fun as well as solo rides. Levi was HAULING during that rain shower and riding Psyclone in the rain too was the perfect ending to the night. Started off nice and sunny at first but got rainy and very cold later on. However, today was awesome. We got to talk to some nice people today (we talked to a lady about Skyrider in Yukon’s line before we gave up on waiting). Like I said though, awesome start to the season!!

Summary of President John F. Kennedy's First Term (1961-1965) // Echoes of November
President John F. Kennedy - 35th President of the United States
Cabinet
Vice President: Lyndon B. Johnson
Secretary of State: Dean Rusk
Secretary of the Treasury: C. Douglas Dillon
Secretary of Defense: Robert McNamara
Attorney General: Robert F. Kennedy
Postmaster General: J. Edward Day (1961-1963) replaced by John A. Gronouski
Secretary of the Interior: Stewart Udall
Secretary of Agriculture: Orville Freeman
Secretary of Commerce: Luther H. Hodges
Secretary of Labor: Arthur Goldberg (1961-1962) replaced by W. Williard Wirtz
Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare: Abraham Ribicoff (1961-1962) replaced by Anthony J. Celebreeze
Ambassador to the United Nations: Adlai Stevenson II
In the weeks leading up to the start of his presidency, Kennedy went about assembling a cabinet meant to balance various political factions. With a cabinet consisting of liberals and Stevenson allies such as Stevenson's close friends J. Edward Day and Arthur Goldberg along with Stevenson himself as Ambassador to the UN. Kennedy also selected Republican C. Douglas Dillon as Secretary of the Treasury in an attempt to calm a Wall Street anxious of the Democratic return to power. However the most influential members of the administration came not from the cabinet but from some of Kennedy's closest advisors such as National Security Advisor McGeorge Bundy and staffers Ted Sorenson ,Larry O'Brien, Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr, Pierre Salinger, General Maxwell D. Taylor and W. Averell Harriman. The most prominent cabinet members proved to unsurprisingly be President Kennedy's brother Robert F. Kennedy as Attorney General and the "Whiz Kid" Ford executive Robert McNamara as Secretary of Defense. Sources have described President Kennedy's management of the administration as the "wheel with all spokes leading to Kennedy" with President Kennedy assuming an increased amount of involvement compared to his predecessor President Eisenhower.
President Kennedy with Secretary Rusk and Secretary McNamara
Domestic Policy
-Upon taking office President Kennedy unveiled his ambitious "New Frontier" program, in the sprit of Roosevelt's "Second Bill of Rights" and Truman's "Fair Deal", both of which failed. The fight for New Frontier policies has been a brutal one with a coalition of Southern Democrats and conservative Republicans opposing the President every step of the way. However some of the early accomplishments included a federal minimum wage increase, housing act that allocated federal aid for urban renewal and housing, yet these were soon met with crushing blows to the New Frontier with both President Kennedy's massive education funding bill and healthcare for the elderly bill being killed by the conservative coalition. Lacking the support to accomplish the more idealistic of his policy proposals, recently President Kennedy has instead opted to focus on poverty as the central theme of the New Frontier, with sources confirming it will be the central theme of President Kennedy's re-election campaign domestically.
-Economically President Kennedy has fully endorsed Keynesian economics, emphasizing economic growth over inflation or deficits. To this end President Kennedy has received much of the credit for the soaring economy, with GDP, production and sales in major industries skyrocketing compared to the Eisenhower years. President Kennedy's economic program has been especially popular due to his major tax cuts across the board, however this has also come with a government budget of over $100 billion with the U.S. running a peace time deficit for the first time in American history.
-In the early days of his Presidency, Kennedy largely avoided the issue of civil rights, seeing it as an issue that would only drive a wedge between him and the southern Democrats that would be necessary for his re-election campaign. However soon the civil rights movement would force President Kennedy's hand as freedom riders being attacked by mobs finally force Attorney General Kennedy into deploying Marshals to protect them. After much criticism from civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King, in 1963 Kennedy finally take major action by proposing a constitutional amendment outlawing poll taxes which was ratified in January 1964. After this victory Kennedy began to become more actively involved and in June 1963 federalized the Alabama National Guard to force Governor George Wallace of Alabama to allow black students to attend the University of Alabama. That very night Kennedy took to the television delivering a speech outlining his administrations new civil rights objectives seeking to fully end segregation in the U.S. and secure voting rights for African Americans in the south. This would mark a turning point in the Kennedy Presidency as his approval rating in the south crashed and southern Democrats vowed to oppose the President at every turn. The August 1963 "March on Washington" created momentum for Kennedy's Civil Rights legislation. This momentum would ultimately not lead to success though as amendments and additions tacked on by conservatives sunk the proposed "Civil Rights Act" before it made it out of committee. Heading into 1964 the administration has elected to table the Civil Rights legislation as they fear another drawn out battle with Congress would damage the President's re-election odds as polls already show a majority of Americans feel the President has pushed to hard for the legislation.
-One of the surprising focuses of Kennedy's term has been the attention given to NASA and space policy. In the early days of his term it seemed the organization would see it's crewed space exploration program dismantled, however out of respect to Vice President Johnson (who was the White House's point man for NASA) the decision was delayed. During this time the Soviet Union once again made world headlines, this time by putting the first man in space with cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. This blow to American prestige has inspired an all out space race, with President Kennedy going as far as to pledge to put an American on the moon. With increased attention and funding, NASA administrator James E. Webb has been thrust into one of the most important roles in the administration.
-On other issues, President Kennedy has signed into law the Equal Pay Act of 1963, aimed at reducing wage inequality between genders following the release of the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women's report which was chaired by former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt before her death in 1962. On the issue of crime, Attorney General Robert Kennedy has led a vigorous prosecution and targeting of organized crime, leading to some controversy for the administration with the targeting of unions around the country, specifically the Teamsters, with dozens of Teamsters already jailed. This testy relationship with the unions has caused some concern in the upcoming 1964 election as Teamster head Jimmy Hoffa has reportedly expressed a desire to "cause as much embarrassment as he can" to the President, a feeling said to be shared by Alabama Governor George Wallace who appears to be currently assembling a campaign staff.
President Kennedy with Civil Rights leaders following the March on Washington
Foreign Policy
-On foreign policy (specifically regarding the USSR) President Kennedy shifted away from former President Eisenhower's policy of brinksmanship towards a more conventional arms policy termed "flexible response". In pursuing this policy, Kennedy oversaw a buildup of special operations forces and elite units. However Kennedy also pursued further nuclear armament and it's said the nuclear capacity of the U.S. has increased by over half compared to the Eisenhower years. In addition to this policy, Kennedy also established the "Peace Corps" (led by his brother in law Sargent Shriver) with young American volunteers going into developing countries and teaching English, helping infrastructure development, food and aid deliveries, etc. This program has been a highlight of the reelection campaign as "Peace" has been the main foreign policy message.
-In the final days of the Eisenhower Administration, plans had been carefully crafted by the CIA to overthrow Marxist Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, with a counter-revolutionary forced funded and trained by the CIA in Florida in anticipation of a US backed invasion of the island by these fighters. When presented with the plan upon taken office, Kennedy eagerly signed off due to his hardline campaign stance against Castro, despite warnings from some members of the State Department. On April 17th 1961, 1500 fighters swarmed the island hoping to quickly inspire an uprising to overthrow Castro, however no such revolt occurred and instead the invaders found themselves pinned down with American air support having been pulled by President Kennedy out of fear of exposing the American sponsorship of the invasion force. As such the force was quickly defeated and Kennedy would be forced to pay over $53 million in return for the surviving members of Brigade 2506. The aftermath of the failed invasion actually saw Kennedy's poll numbers rise as he took full responsibility for the failure and received vocal support from former President Eisenhower and former Vice President Nixon. This would however be the start of a split between Kennedy and the CIA, State Department and the Joint Chiefs as Kennedy felt he had been hung out to dry by the diplomats and military, instead relying on White House advisors and staffers for major decisions from then on.
-In the months following the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, fears rose among Cuban and Soviet officials of the U.S. planning another invasion prompting increased economic and military aid to Cuba from the USSR. As part of this aid, dozens of Soviet missiles and bombers were shipped to Cuba, along with around 100 tactical nuclear weapons. On October 14th 1962, American U-2 spy planes photographed the missile sites being built conforming to the Kennedy administration that Cuba indeed had offensive nuclear weapons. Despite considering immediate airstrikes, on October 22nd President Kennedy would announce in an address to the nation a naval blockade to intercept any further Soviet arms shipments. The nation would hold it's breath for a week, enduring a string of fearful headlines including Soviet ships approaching the blockade, an American spy plane being downed and even false reports of war already breaking out. Finally on October 28th Soviet Premier Khrushchev announced the withdrawal of the Soviet missiles from Cuba with President Kennedy issuing a public promise not to invade Cuba. With the "Cuban Missile Crisis" over the nation would favorably react to Kennedy's handling of the crisis with yet another major approval rating boost energizing the White House.
-Despite all the attention being focused on Cuba throughout Kennedy's first term, another country has seen a growing communist threat, Vietnam. As the communist Viet Cong increasingly threatened the capitalist South Vietnam regime, Kennedy increased the amount of American military advisors in the region from 11,000 to 16,000 over the course of 1963 however remained reluctant to dispatch any American combat troops. In August 1963 a series of crackdowns on Buddhist monks ordered by South Vietnam President Ngo Dinh Diem led to new Ambassador to South Vietnam Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. being tasked with getting the President to step down. Diem resisted these calls from the U.S. however leading Ambassador Lodge to advise the only way Diem would leave office would be by military coup. Despite this assessment from Lodge, the Defense and State department provided the White House with starkly different pictures of the situation in South Vietnam, leading the President to send General Maxwell D. Taylor and Secretary of Defense McNamara on a fact finding mission to the country. This mission seemed to confirm the reports from the State Department of an increasingly weakened position of the South Vietnam military in fighting the Communist guerillas. With President Diem finally losing American backing, on November 1st 1963 South Vietnam generals would arrest and execute Diem. Wishing to put the Vietnam issue on the backburner for the 1964 election, Kennedy would recall 1,000 of the advisors previously dispatched after the Taylor-McNamara mission.
-With more than 20,000 fleeing East Berlin to West in mid-1961 and U.S. military spending ratcheting up with President Kennedy specifically indicating the funds would be spent securing West Berlin, on August 13th 1961 the Soviet Union began construction of a wall separating East Berlin from West Berlin and blocking passage between the two halves of the city. Despite receiving criticism for allowing the wall to go up, Kennedy would strike back in a June 1963 tour of West Berlin saying "Democracy is not perfect, but we never had to put up a wall to keep our people in". One of Kennedy's major accomplishments leading up to the 1964 elections has been a nuclear test ban treaty which was signed by Secretary of State Dean Rusk along with his Soviet and British counterparts on August 5th 1963, banning the testing of nuclear weapons on the ground, in the air or underwater.

Chief Justice Earl Warren
Associate Justice Hugo Black
Associate Justice Felix Frankfurter (retired in 1962) replaced by Secretary of Labor Arthur Goldberg
Associate Justice William O. Douglas
Associate Justice Tom C. Clark
Associate Justice John Marshall Harlan Jr.
Associate Justice William J. Brenan Jr.
Associate Justice Charles Evans Whittaker (retired in 1962) replaced by Deputy Attorney General Byron White
Associate Justice Potter Stewart
Kennedy would have the opportunity to fill 2 Supreme Court vacancies in his first term, first with the retirement of Associate Justice Charles Evans Whittaker (a key swing vote on the court) citing exhaustion from a heavy workload and stress. Kennedy would tap Deputy Attorney General and former NFL star turned lawyer Byron White who had worked on the Kennedy campaign and served as Deputy Attorney General under Robert F. Kennedy. The second vacancy would come when Associate Justice of 23 years Felix Frankfurter. Frankfurter would leave large shoes to fill as the leader of the conservative faction in the Court (despite being an advisor to FDR and progressive lawyer) who had notoriously feuded with the Courts liberals such as Associate Justices Black and Douglas along with Chief Justice Warren himself, describing Warren's work as "dishonest nonsense". Frankfurter's retirement would come because of a stroke and President Kennedy would nominate another member of his administration, Secretary of Labor Arthur Goldberg to the position. Overall the Court continues to be extremely liberal with Harlan being the only Justice considered a "conservative".

A November Day in Dallas
One of the more widely discussed events of President Kennedy's first term come from a relatively unimportant trip to Dallas taken on November 22nd 1963. A little before noon the President arrived from Forth Worth Texas with First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and Texas Governor John Connally and met Vice President Johnson at Love Field in Dallas Texas. Kennedy would spend around 10 minutes greeting the crowd at the airfield before departing for the Dallas Trade Mart building in his 1961 Lincoln Continental. With the motorcade running behind schedule the crowds lined along the motorcade route eagerly waited hoping to catch a glimpse of their President. At one such location along the motorcade route, one eager spectator in Dallas' Dealey Plaza would be momentarily distracted by some shining object out of a window of the Texas schoolbook depository building. Initially disregarding it, after 5 more minutes of waiting for the motorcade the observer again would glance up and observe what he described to officer Marion Baker as a "man with some type of rifle in the window of the depository". Heading out to the street Baker would see the man, holding a 6.5mm Carcano rifle, aimed directly at the incoming Presidential motorcade. In horror Baker would observe the police motorcycle come into view, with President Kennedy waving to the crowd just a few cars back. With only seconds to spare, Baker would draw his revolver and open fire at the open window of the schoolbook depository building. The following 30 seconds would become some of the most important in American history, as the excited crowd gathered to see President Kennedy would flee in terror at the series of gunshots. Upon hearing the gunshots, Secret Service agent Clint Hill would jump from the car behind the President and shove President Kennedy down into the seat as a series of gunshots from the sniper rained down upon the car, striking Governor Connally and fatally wounding agent Hill as he gave his life protecting the President. The motorcade would rush to the Dallas Parkland hospital with the President soon guarded by a brick wall of Secret Service. Officer Baker would rush into the schoolbook depository where employees franticly milled about, some unaware of the attempted assassination from their very building. Baker and Depository superintendent Roy Truly would begin to comb the building for the would be assassin with Baker radioing for backup to cover the entrance. There the 2 would encounter Lee Harvey Oswald, who Truly identified as an employee and was soon allowed to leave the building were he would take a taxi back to his boarding room in Dallas. Their error in letting Oswald leave would soon become clear when Officer J.D. Tippit was shot and killed while approaching Oswald who resembled the description of the shooter given by witnesses. Just 30 minutes later Oswald would be in custody after a shootout at a movie theatre where Oswald had barricaded himself in. Immediately questions about the motive would arise however to this day Oswald has denied any involvement despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. While describing himself as a "marxist not a communist" suspicion turned to communist agents and the USSR, however investigation thus far seems to indicate Oswald acted alone and not as part of a broader conspiracy as Oswald has shown a history of mental instability including multiple court martials as a U.S. Marine and a defection to the USSR before deciding to return to the United States, in addition authorities now believe Oswald had previously unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate General Edwin Walker (a known segregationist and critic of Kennedy). Nonetheless this chapter of John F. Kennedy's presidency would go down in history as one of the closest to success assassination attempts on a U.S. President.

2024.06.09 03:41 Consistent_Help_9146 Should I be concerned? Almost 5 yr old still not pee trained

I've been trying to potty train my almost 5 year old since he was 2.5. He still struggles with pee accidents. He just barely stopped having poop accidents the beginning of this year (so at least we have made that progress!). He will always tell me when he has to poop and is amazing about that. He can independently use the potty all by himself if I tell him to go. But he will never initiate going pee. He relies on me to tell him when to go and has to go every 90 minutes to stay dry. I tried having him use a potty watch for all of preschool to make him more independent but he always ignored it. He will only go if someone tells him to.
We have tried naked from the waist down which worked. But then tried for like 5 months straight doing no underwear under loose pants or loose boxers and he still constantly peed in those. I make him clean up his wet underwear and make the clean up process long but that hasn't affected him at all. I don't know why he won't ever tell me when he has to pee? Should I be concerned? Could there be something medically wrong? The pediatrician did tests and said everything was normal but I'm wondering if we should see an urologist just in case?
He starts kindergarten this year and I'm really worried. I'm really hoping the school will be able to have an aide remind him. But who knows if they will be able to do that. I plan to talk to them.
Anything I can do to help him? Or any words of encouragement? Someone who can relate? I am out of ideas and don't know what to do at this point.

How to test that SBMM in Unranked is currently off
This is one of the most controversial themes that get some people seriously ticked off… 😂 Most of people are always hoping for easy ways to bring home the bacon… it is why we have evolved such huge brains according to latest studies… 🤣 Not to use tools, not to survive in tough changing environments - but to outcompete other humans… human brain is 3 times of chimpanzee… chimpanzee brain is also huge, as they need to outcompete other chimpanzees… 🤯 With that said, here we go: SBMM MYTH - it currently works in Unranked!? This may have been so before the Epic separated the BZB to Ranked (SBMM) and unranked (20 humans random fill minimum + <=80 bots) I also heard the same myth when playing squads with some of the top 10 rated (and top 10 Win Counts holders) squad players. They used a trained account (losses only, with few wins) to supposedly lower the quality of their lobby. To me it looked like BS - I believed that they won most of the time because they were better than the average random squads fill. To test this, I had created an account with a single Solo Win and a single Solo Kill (to avoid division by 0 issues) and accumulated more than 1000 losses (including more than 1000 duos losses) and deaths with it. Then I paired up with this account and observed the random quality of the opposition. (Did not matter who was the lobby lead.) To me this is a clear, observable, scientific proof that SBMM in Unranked currently does not work. You can test this easily for yourself, first look up the account on fortnitetracker: I REST IN PEACE Check the stats. Then let me know and I would friend you with it and start a duos game for you. If you win 3 out of 3 I would totally change my mind. Also facts against SBMM: I am definitely not the best Solos Unranked player out there, yet even while always playing with Cross-play on (cannot disable it on Android): 1. My best Solos Win Streak is 12 (Unbelievable with SBMM working) 2. My best All Platforms Solos TRN Rating is 11 3. My best Touch Solos TRN Rating is 1 5. My best Touch Solos Season Wins placement was 1 (last season) … Bottom line, if you want easy wins, either: 1. Be a member of a well coordinated squad, or: 2. Play on any Apple platform while they are still stuck on Chapter 2 Season 3, or 3. Play limited pool Solos on XBOX or PS4
