2024.05.15 13:56 LetterGrouchy6053 Treason; it's as simple as this.

It is all as simple as this. Giuliani, Trump, and a bevy of traitors to our country, tried to nullify the votes of 87 million people and overthrow the legitimate government of the United States.
That's it in a nutshell.
Almost every one of these treasonous criminals has been indicted and the government has overwhelming proof of their guilt. In boxing they say "You can run, but you can't hide".
The wheels of justice may be slow, but the results ar inevitable.
Trump and his accomplices (many in the House of Representatives) will be tried, convicted, and hit with the most severe prison sentences allowed by law.

Rudy Giuliani's legal problems could be about to get worse, a former U.S. attorney has said.
Giuliani was one of 18 people indicted last month in Arizona over an alleged scheme to overturn the 2020 election results in the state. He was served the indictment alongside six Trump allies, including Trump's former and his close adviser Boris Epshteyn, as well as 11 individuals who acted as fake GOP electors for Arizona in the last presidential election.
However, Giuliani is the only defendant prosecutors have been unable to serve with a summons, according to Richie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Arizona attorney general's office.
Taylor said prosecutors and investigators working for Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes have made multiple attempts to serve Giuliani a summons, which serves as a formal notice that he has been criminally charged and must appear before a judge at Maricopa County Superior Court on May 21. However, they have been unable to find him. He added that the day after the state-level grand jury handed up its indictment to Giuliani, two agents for the attorney general's office traveled to New York City with plans to hand-deliver the notice to him.
The agents determined that Giuliani was in his New York apartment because he had recently video streamed from his residence, Taylor continued, adding that upon their arrival, they were told by a person at the front desk that they were not allowed to accept service of the documents. Taylor said the person did not dispute Giuliani lived there. "We were not granted access," Taylor said.
The attorney general's office has also made multiple attempts to try to contact Giuliani by calling various phone numbers for him, "and none of them were successful," according to Taylor.
Newsweek has reached out to a representative for Giuliani via email for comment.
A person close to Giuliani told The Washington Post that the former New York City mayor and one-time attorney for Trump "keeps a busy schedule." Amid his apparent absence, Paul Charlton, a former U.S. attorney appointed by President George W. Bush, has argued that Giuliani's legal problems could potentially get worse if he does not appear for his initial court appearance, warning that it would lead to his arrest. "You can think of a summons to appear as a courtesy by the prosecutors—it is an invitation to appear," Charlton told The Washington Post. "You can be held in contempt if you are served and fail to appear. But the alternative for prosecutors is to issue an arrest warrant, and that is, of course, a much more compelling vehicle." He added that generally speaking, defendants who seek to avoid a summons should consider "the reality that the next step the prosecutors take won't be quite as gentle."
Giuliani has not responded to the case against him in Arizona, where Trump lost by 10,457 votes.
Trump was not among those charged in Arizona. He is described in the indictment only as "Unindicted Coconspirator 1."
"In Arizona, and the United States, the people elected Joseph Biden as President on November 3, 2020," the indictment reads. "Unwilling to accept this fact, Defendants and unindicted coconspirators schemed to prevent the lawful transfer of the presidency to keep Unindicted Coconspirator 1 in office against the will of Arizona's voters."
Giuliani is also involved in a Georgia election racketeering case brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, in which he was charged alongside Trump with allegedly conspiring to overturn Biden's victory in the state. Both have pleaded not guilty.
He is also facing a $148 million judgment for defaming a pair of election workers in Georgia, which has led to him declaring bankruptcy.

2024.05.15 13:49 Forged_Trunnion What is your opinion on bail for violent crimes?

On April 22, one Amonte Moody fired 26 rounds from an AR-15 into a car full of 4 people in Washington DC. Last week the judge decided to release him on bail (house arrest with an ankle monitor) before the trial.
I don't know about you, but for violent criminals I 100% don't want to see bail as an option.
I think this case may have other things going on, race may be involved, outside political influences on the DA, who knows.
But when we have a very clear aggravated assault, attempted murder of 4 people, indiscriminate discharge of a weapon. And I'm pretty sure those guns are also illegal in DC anyhow. It doesn't matter what the race of anyone involved is. These acts must be condemned, 100%, and there must be legitimate punishment.
Does anyone here actually agree that releasing this guy on bail is a good idea or is in any way "justice"?

Kansas

Despite voters overwhelmingly rejecting a constitutional amendment that would have allowed abortion restrictions in the state, Kansas Republicans passed several anti-abortion bills into law late last month, overriding the governor’s veto.
The first bill, HB 2436, makes it a crime to “coerce” someone into having an abortion. Democrats attempted to widen the scope of the bill to include all kinds of reproductive coercion, like pressuring someone to become or stay pregnant and prohibiting their access to birth control, and enshrine a right to “reproductive autonomy.” Republicans voted down the amendment.
The second bill, HB 2749, requires medical facilities and providers to (1) ask patients their reason for having an abortion and (2) report the data, including personal information about the patient, to the legislature every other year. Gov. Laura Kelly (D) agreed with the objections of Democrats and reproductive rights advocates, saying when she vetoed the bill that there is “no valid reason to force a woman to disclose to the legislature why she is seeking an abortion.”
  • Democrats offered numerous amendments to HB 2749, including one to require men to report to the legislature their reasons for having a vasectomy and another requiring men to report why they are seeking treatment for erectile dysfunction. Republicans rejected all of them.
Finally, the Republican legislature overrode Kelly’s line-item veto allocating $2 million to the Pregnancy Compassion Awareness Program, created last year with a different veto override. The program is run by an anti-abortion group called the Kansas Pregnancy Care Network, which refers pregnant people to crisis pregnancy centers designed to use misleading information to discourage them from obtaining an abortion.

Louisiana

Louisiana’s legislature is doubling down on its anti-abortion laws, passing bills to increase criminalization and refusing to add exemptions to its abortion ban.
Earlier this month, the Louisiana House took up a bill passed by the Senate that would make it a crime, punishable by jail time, to possess abortion-inducing medication. SB 276, sponsored by 23 Republicans and one Democrat, was initially written to create a punishment for coercing someone into an abortion without their knowledge or consent (e.g. spiking a drink). However, House legislators recently added an amendment to the bill that classifies mifepristone and misoprostol as Schedule IV substances alongside some opioids and benzodiazepines. A pregnant person possessing the drugs for their own use could not be charged, but others who intend to distribute them to pregnant people seeking an abortion or store them for their own potential future use would face up to ten years in prison.
“Neither is a drug of abuse or dependence, and that is what the controlled drug schedule is for,” said [emergency room Dr. Jennifer] Avegno of the abortion drugs. “It makes no scientific or medical sense to put these drugs in the same category as Xanax or Valium.”
Mifepristone is a drug that blocks a hormone called progesterone, which is necessary for a pregnancy to continue. Misoprostol causes uterine contractions, causing the body to expel the pregnancy tissue. Mifepristone is also used to treat Cushing’s disease, a hormonal disorder. Misoprostol is also used to induce labor, manage a miscarriage and in the treatment of ulcers. Neither are addictive. “People do not go around taking them and getting dependent and having bad outcomes because of it,” said Avegno. “It’s like saying your blood pressure medicine or insulin is a drug of abuse.”
A week later, Republicans on the House Criminal Justice Committee voted 7-4 to reject a bill to add rape and incest exceptions to the state’s total abortion ban. House Bill 164, written by Democratic Rep. Delisha Boyd, would have allowed girls younger than 17 to have abortions if they became pregnant as the result of sexual assault.
“That baby [in the womb] is innocent … We have to hang on to that,” said committee member Rep. Dodie Horton, R-Haughton, who voted against the bill. Rep. Lauren Ventrella, R-Greenwell Spring, also voted against the legislation, saying the proposed law would be difficult to enforce. Teenagers who had consensual sex might feign rape or incest in order to get access to abortion services, she suggested…
Dr. Neelima Sukhavasi, a Baton Rouge doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, also implored the lawmakers to approve Boyd’s proposal. She and her colleagues have delivered babies for pregnant teenagers, including mothers as young as 13, since Louisiana’s abortion ban went into effect two years ago. These young pregnant people can experience health complications that affect them for the rest of their lives, Sukhavasi said, and sometimes don’t have the mental capacity to handle the births. “One of these teenagers delivered a baby while clutching a teddy bear,” she told the committee.
The Committee also killed three other bills: HB 56, to allow abortions in cases of spontaneous miscarriage or nonviable pregnancy; HB 63, to clarify that the removal of an ectopic pregnancy is not an abortion under state law; HB 293, to add protection for physicians who do not intend to induce abortion by prescribing certain medications.

Texas

Meanwhile, in Texas—a state that pioneered the war on women and reproductive rights—a man initiated legal action to sue people who helped his former partner obtain an out-of-state abortion.
The man, Collin Davis, filed a petition in a state district court seeking permission to launch legal depositions to collect evidence for a potential lawsuit under a Texas law that contains civil liability for anyone who “aids and abets” an abortion. According to his lawyer, Jonathan Mitchell (who crafted the anti-abortion law), Davis is seeking to sue “co-conspirators and accomplices…involved in the murder of [his] unborn child.”
“Fathers of aborted fetuses can sue for wrongful death in states with abortion bans, even if the abortion occurs out-of-state,” he wrote. “They can sue anyone who paid for the abortion, anyone who aided or abetted the travel, and anyone involved in the manufacture or distribution of abortion drugs.”
Molly Duane, a senior staff attorney with the Center for Reproductive Rights, described Mitchell’s statement and general approach as misleading “fearmongering.”
“People need to understand that it is not a crime to leave Texas or any other state in the country for an abortion,” said Duane, who is working with lawyers from the firm Arnold & Porter to represent the woman and others targeted in the Davis case. “I don’t want people to be intimidated, but they should be outraged and alarmed.” Duane described the woman’s relationship with Davis as “toxic and harmful.”
Mitchell also represents a different man who pursued a similar claim last year: Marcus Silva engaged Mitchell to sue the friends of his estranged wife for allegedly helping her obtain abortion pills. Evidence later revealed that Silva knew about the plans beforehand and did not intervene, likely intending to use the threat of legal action as a way of forcing his partner to halt divorce proceedings.
Monday’s counterclaim illustrates, in painstaking detail, exactly how Silva—aided by Mitchell—allegedly deployed this tactic. It was only after Brittni’s abortion was complete that Silva revealed he knew about the plan and, according to the lawsuit, threatened to turn her in if she didn’t submit to his continued abuse. He even showed the police photographs of messages discussing the possibility of an abortion. “Once I finally got home with the girls he had been drinking and he told me that he knew,” Brittni texted one friend. “He’s using it against me.” In another message, she wrote, “Now he’s saying if I don’t give him my ‘mind body and soul’ until the end of the divorce, which he’s going to drag out, he’s going to make sure I go to jail for doing it.” […]
The counterclaim points out another flaw in his argument: Silva himself “is responsible for the alleged injury for which he seeks to recover.” He “knew that Brittni planned to terminate her alleged pregnancy and acquiesced in accepting Brittni’s actions,” so “it would be unconscionable to permit him to benefit by changing his position now.” His claims, in short, are barred “by unclean hands,” because he effectively entrapped his estranged wife—covertly discovering her plan to terminate the pregnancy, then allowing her to go through with it for the express purpose of blackmailing her into staying with him.

Indiana

A three-judge panel of the Indiana Court of Appeals last month unanimously recognized a religious freedom challenge to the state’s complete ban on abortion.
The case, brought by Hoosier Jews for Choice and four anonymous women of various faiths, alleges that the ban interferes with “their sincere religious beliefs that require and direct them to obtain abortions” criminalized since the law took effect in 2023. According to Jewish law, a fetus does not have personhood until birth, and abortion is required if the pregnancy endangers the life or health of the mother.
Brief of Hoosier Jews for Choice (and other plaintiffs): As indicated by the declarations of numerous rabbis, Judaism teaches that a fetus becomes a living person only at birth, and prior to that is considered part of the woman’s body, without independent rights. Abortion should occur and is mandated to end a pregnancy that may cause serious consequences to a woman’s mental or physical heath. Judaism also recognizes that physical health risks are not limited to those likely to cause substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function. Judaism stresses the necessity of protecting the physical and mental health of the woman—a life—over the potential for life present in a zygote, embryo, or fetus. Therefore, restrictions that prevent a woman from obtaining an abortion where compelled by Jewish law, which mandates that the woman act to protect her physical or mental health, impose a substantial burden on that person’s religious exercise.
Under Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), “a governmental entity may not substantially burden a personʹs exercise of religion,” defined to include “any exercise of religion, whether or not compelled by, or central to, a system of religious belief.” This means that arguments about whether plaintiffs are strictly observant are irrelevant; the law protects sincerely held religious views regardless of whether that view is idiosyncratic or unorthodox. However, even a law that imposes a substantial burden on the exercise of religion can be enforced if it is “the least restrictive means of furthering [a] compelling governmental interest” (the strict scrutiny test).
The state argued that abortion does not carry “religious significance” and, even if it did, the abortion ban satisfies strict scrutiny because it is “sufficiently narrowly tailored” to “further the State’s interest” in “protecting human lives in the womb.” Throughout Indiana’s brief, the state attempts to use science to back up fetal personhood, extending developmental physiology to make unfounded claims that protected life unquestionably begins at conception:
In lower courts, the State’s compelling interest is not up for debate. In Cheaney v. State, the Indiana Supreme Court held that the State’s interest in protecting unborn children is “valid and compelling” from “the moment of conception.” …A basic understanding of biology supports these holdings. “That human fetuses are human beings is a scientific fact, not a theological claim.” Regardless whether an individual person believes this, “the scientific consensus” is that “[d]evelopment begins at fertilization,” after which the newly created “unicellular zygote divides many times and becomes progressively transformed into a multicellular human being through cell division, migration, growth, and differentiation.” …. Science thus tells us that “[t]he act of performing an induced abortion during any stage of pregnancy, from fertilization up to birth, ends the life of an innocent human being.” The State’s interest in protecting unborn fetal life at any stage from intentional destruction accordingly is nothing less than “compelling.”
A panel of the Indiana Court of Appeals—made up of a Republican appointee and two Democratic appointees—unanimously ruled against the state, upholding a lower court’s injunction against the abortion ban as it applies to the plaintiffs. In the process, the court laid out a path for religious freedom challenges to abortion bans in other states and at the federal level.
The trial court found that absent a preliminary injunction, Plaintiffs would be irreparably harmed by the loss of their religious freedoms guaranteed by RFRA. A loss of First Amendment freedoms, which include the right to free exercise of religion, “for even minimal periods of time, unquestionably constitutes irreparable injury.”... Without a preliminary injunction, Plaintiffs will suffer the loss of their right to exercise their sincere religious beliefs by obtaining an abortion when directed by their religion and prohibited by the Abortion Law. They also have shown their sexual and reproductive lives will continue to be restricted absent the injunction and as a result of the Abortion Law.

2024.05.15 12:11 Cookiecuttermaxy Starting to feel morally conflicted about humanity as a collective and whether I should give up on my hopes or try to keep on influencing human society for the better

On one hand I am starting to feel more desensetized from the human experience and the general life experience: I mean real talk even if humanity was a utopia, we would all still get our wake up call in life one way or the other:Diseases, injuries, natural disasters, wild animals being assholes(this is why I don't understand the radical empathy this sub has sometimes for non-human creatures, as if THEY'RE ANY better)
On another hand: I wouldn't say I hate humanity with a passion per se, at least that's not me in this case anymore, maybe I used to overdo my misanthropy in my high school days. But there is a part of me that feels criminally disappointed in humanity, from all the failed expectations to the smokescreens and deceptions society pulls on our ass all the time to society's inconsistency with a lot of topics(great example being social justice, you would think with the so called Opression Olympics, that so called marginalized groups would try to band together and actually overthrow our opressors at the top, which are supposed to be so called evil rich white men according them, yet the whole thing reeks of nothing but vulnerable narcissism and everyone trying to weaponize their struggles for personal gain and social status, BUT SHOULD I REALLY BE SURPRISED AS A MISANTHROPE that we resorted to this level of high school thinking, like not even high schoolers do this shit bruh)
On another hand: I am also so desensetized to the point where I don't care what happens to humanity in the long run anymore(which includes me as well), now whether you believe humanity is headed for a downfall or you're a radical optimist who thinks humanity is progressing, I don't care, is not my battle of concern to deal with, so rather than throttling on hardcore pessimism about humanity's status quo, I just engage in a little more contemporary philosophical stoicism about it, but this also means if society were to disappear overnite I could give less of 2 monkey shits. Why should I care? After all the backstabbing, bullying, social discrimination, antagonizing, interpersonal conflict, social ostracism, abuse of authority and violence a lot of people have incited onto me, WHY SHOULD I LOGICALLY THEN CARE TO PRESERVE THIS PARTICULAR SOCIETY OR HUMAN SOCIETY IN GENERAL? Yes I know people with good mannerisms exist, but my trust issues are starting to even get in the way of people with good intentions, I need to get better at vetting my people
On another hand I still have natural and innate urged to want to contribute to society for the better: I suppose some people are more hardcore with their misanthropy and try to go no contact however they can, but me I am still a little charitable in this case, I really am, is because in spite of me being a misanthrope, I am not someone who really wants to see others fail, I am what you would call an unconditional humanitarian, I don't see hierarchies of status or seniority, all people get my unconditional respect, now honor may be a little different here, I am not gonna admire you just for being a decent human being, but I will respect you and still treat you with basic decency, I really try hard to assume innocence, grace and forgiveness out of everyone, yes that even includes my so called worst enemy, in fact because of this reason alone I tried going vegan before but let just say I lack the descipline, however I am trying to eat less in general and only eat more for the sake of nourishment, I guess practicing eating temperance or do longer bouts of fasting (been awhile since I fasted), like yes while I am very justice-driven, I still think everyone should be given and assumed innocence, in fact this is another complaint about modern society that I want to get outta way, we're becoming way too trigger-happy and easily-annoyed as a species: You can't say or do the wrong thing anymore, your ass is micromanaged 247, whether at work, thru your internet consumption or at school, you can longer do mistakes anymore, everything almost ticks people off and gets them demonically posessed with the anger or annoyance levels of a teenager, in fact teenagers are more mature in this regard in my opinion, adults get way too easily offended or annoyed, so much for "growing thick skin", though there also those morons who are overly logical or stoic and use it as a means of being an apatethic demoralizing asshole, but that's really an outlier here, I just wish people in general could be a little less reactive really that's all. I am really one graceful motherfucker if anything society should be more grateful for me than I should be grateful for society
And I guess lastly: None of society's shit surprises me anymore, I just see humanity as one big extension of the life experience. We are advanced apes who wear clothes, have technological expenditures and have conquered civilization of the planet, but we still have the same primal carnal urges as our ancestors: Greed, tribalism, lust, jocking for position, gluttony, overconsumption of resources, fighting for dominance, etc. People are just as predatory as other creatures, but of course we like to hide behind a facade about it. But this is where my contemporary stoicism and misanthropy overlap, by acknowledging that humanity is one big flaming pile of shit, nothing from humanity/society ceases to surprise, amaze or phase me anymore and in fact actually one of the best revenges you can get on this corrupt evil society is literally being happy and content, society wants for the misery trap to get to you, so if you're actually happy and content with your life, keep on expressing it, let those fools who are so focused on chasing power, status and superficial success keep dipping misery onto themselves and you keep one being joyful motherfucker, society has serious contempt for genuinely happy people and it shows
So is all like I am trying to cage it in all at once.
End of rant, thoughts?

2024.05.15 11:32 Brandon_Smith_78 (UK) My Girlfriend and the HM Passport Office UK - Please help us find a way to get married and live together

I live in the EU and my Girlfriend lives in the UK. She has now already some time ago paid the HM Passport Office to get her passport, and they are repeatedly asking her to make someone confirm her identity, which can be done online
at : https://www.passport.service.gov.uk/confirm-identity
There is a list of eligible people who can do this, and she had already a few people do it, who know her for many years. But the HMPO does always say that those people are not eligible, while they are on the list and they do have a British Passport and did everything correct, to confirm her identity.
The problem is now, she does not know many people, and has already made everyone do this process that she knows, and they know her for many years, long enough to be eligible. But every time it is being rejected for no reason, and my Girlfriend is also NOT wanted or anything, she is just a normal person without any criminal history.
This rejections do have an impact on her mental health, every time they refuse someone she is getting mentally heavily unstable and I have a hard time calming her down, because she always thinks she will never be able to ever leave the UK and come to me, she is mentally very unstable and this worries me much. What worries me the most is, we do not have any eligible people left she knows, since she has not many contacts due to her mental health issues, it feels to me as if she is living in a communist country, where people are not allowed to leave - how is Britain a "free country" if she has no way now to ever get a passport and come to me to live with me ?
Where can I find eligible people with British Passport that would be willing to confirm her identity online or how do I get help at getting her passport ? On the website it says the following to make sure someone can confirm the identity :
You can only confirm someone’s identity if you:

To me this list seems unreasonably complicated and I do not know how anyone can actually get a Passport in the UK at all.
Anyone knows how to get help ? We already called the HMPO but they give a fuck and do not help at all, they do simply not seem to care. We are getting very desperate and I have a hard time convincing her to stay alive, and this is destroying us and our relationship.

2024.05.15 11:18 Brandon_Smith_78 (UK) My Girlfriend and the HM Passport Office UK - Please help us get married and live together

This rejections do have an impact on her mental health, every time they refuse someone she is getting heavily mentally instable and I have a hard time calming her down, because she always thinks she will never be able to ever leave the UK and come to me, she is mentally very unstable and this worries me much.
You can only confirm someone’s identity if you:
are 18 or over live in the UK have a current UK passport have known the person applying for at least 2 years know the person applying as a friend, neighbour or colleague (not just someone who knows you professionally)

2024.05.15 08:45 AggravatingLaw9470 Need some NPC ideas for my campaign

I’m about to run a campaign where (long story short) all the party members at some point made an agreement with the BBEG and are in eternal debt of the thing they hate most, for example one of the players was a washed up detective who made an agreement to gain powers as a way to catch criminals, but his debt is that every time he commits an act of justice the BBEG will take something from him such as a core memory or just injure him. And as a way to get out of their debt the party agrees to join essentially a ‘worldwide battle Royale with everyone who wants their debts to be paid and if they emerge victorious then their debts will be gone. I need ideas for some opponents and stories for their debts/agreements

2024.05.15 07:10 Fun-Asparagus-2734 Can I get into any Federal Agencies?

I have been wanting to get in the federal sector for a while now. My background consists of an undergraduate degree in criminal justice and will be completing my masters in social work next year. I was an intern for U.S Probation last year during the end of my undergraduate year. I have been employed in my local sheriff’s office for 3 years in a civilian position dealing with intake and release of inmates. While completing my master program I had to complete hours in another city’s jail as a Mental Health Therapist utilizing evidence based practice methods.
I have kept in contact with some U.S Probation Officers since I left. I have also made sure to work with the vulnerable population (mainly in the corrections side) as I hope this would help me be a favorable candidate when I apply.
How would my chances be if I were to apply to federal jobs at this moment(US Probation, HSI, FBI, USMS) ? Should I focus on applying to local LE positions first? Would I have benefited in completing a different master program?
I guess with being close to completing my degree, I have been having doubts if I chose the right track.
Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated!!

2024.05.15 06:56 listen2dotai Trump's Legal Battles Continue: Michael Cohen Testifies

Ladies and gentlemen, we are once again witnessing an unprecedented attack on a former president who has consistently stood up for America's prosperity and strength. Donald Trump, our former president, is currently embroiled in a legal battle that deserves every American's attention for its sheer implications on fairness and justice in our political system.
At the center of this legal drama is the resumption of a criminal hush money trial in Manhattan, where Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, has testified about his role in facilitating a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels. This payment was allegedly made to keep quiet about an affair she claims to have had with Trump. Now, Trump faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to conceal this payment.
Now, let's talk about the credibility of Michael Cohen, who, on record, has admitted to seeking power and the glitz of public life. His motivations are crystal clear. He's a man who didn't flinch at selling “Send him to the big house, not the White House” merchandise. A man who openly admits in his podcasts and on social media to wanting Trump convicted. How can we trust the testimony of a man who profits from and actively campaigns against his former employer?
The defense has strongly challenged Cohen’s account, pushing back against his claims and questioning his obsession with Trump, which he confessed to in his book titled "Disloyal". Isn't it peculiar that someone so fixated on another individual, now stands as the key witness against him? This raises significant questions about the authenticity of his grievances and the motivations driving this trial.
Adding to the controversy, the imposed gag order on Trump by Judge Juan Merchan has been called “totally unconstitutional”. Trump’s free speech is being stifarchoPartyallments led by Democrat leaders, who seem to only intensify their efforts against him, rather than focusing on real issues facing Americans.
Looking ahead, the implications of this trial are massive. It speaks volumes about the judicial processes being potentially weaponized against political figures who dare to challenge the status quo. It forecasts a chilling future where political disagreements are settled in courts rather than through democratic processes.
In conclusion, this trial not only attempts to undermine a man who has tirelessly fought for American greatness but also threatens the very core of our cherished legal principles of fairness and justice. This is a political witch hunt, nothing less.

2024.05.15 06:19 QueenNiriah Career/Educational Advice for a Newbie?

Hey yall! Newbie to psychology here. Currently knocking out my core classes before pursuing my BA or BS. I plan to double major in psych and criminal justice to start out. Anyways, I’m seeking some tips and guidance from those of you further along in your psych journey than me - both for my career choices and for my educational pursuits.
My passion is in criminal justice, but I have a passion for psych as well. I’m thinking I want to be involved in criminal investigations in the psych area. Behavioral analysis of criminals, helping prosecute criminals, helping victims, etc. I’m a true crime junkie! I was even thinking of leaning more into the detective/criminal investigator side of things, but that may be a conflict of interest when it comes to helping victims I believe. Not sure!
I have a passion for serious crimes such as human trafficking (biggest one for me), murder, kidnappings, sexual assault, etc where people are deeply affected. I’m not much interested in working with petty crimes, like drugs or theft. My very end goal is owning a private practice to assist in human trafficking sting operations and rehabilitation of victims/helping them get back to 100% functionality from serious trauma. (I’m thinking a private investigation unit connected to a therapy/social work practice?)
Any careeeducational path advice? I also know I’m interested in assessment because I analyze people a lot subconsciously anyways - out of curiosity. I want to pursue a PsyD in clinical psych, I just don’t know much about graduate school - barely even undergrad. I’m a first gen student with not much not much guidance on it as of now!

2024.05.15 06:06 FantASSticWill My niece was wrongfully arrested

Two nights ago my Neice was pulled over for going 10 over the speed limit. The sherif then proceed to perform a sobriety test because he thought he smelled marijuana. The officer was visibly aggravated when her breathalyzer came back as 0. She passed all his tests and he still brought her back to the sheriff's department because and i quote her eyes were fluttering when closed and her tongue was green. They took a urine sample (no blood test) even tested her for cocain again which came back negative. She was taken in for 3 hours and still charged with a DUI. She was not under the influence of any substance, she is a 22 year old with no criminal record or traffic violations. She has a slight learning disability and is possibly on the autism spectrum. I belive she was wrongfully detained. Is there anything we can do. We think the Dui will get thrown out but she's terrified to drive and she's been crying since it happened she deserves justice.

2024.05.15 02:51 Particular-Shine4363 Traffic Ticket Info

I posted a while back about free traffic ticket help & someone asked for a write up of how the law changed. So, here you go — with some added tips on what to do if you want to negotiate a ticket down in Clark County.
Before the law change, traffic tickets were usually criminal misdemeanors — this includes the really common tickets like, for example, speeding 1 - 10 miles over the speed limit or failing to yield.
Because of this, failing to pay the ticket would ultimately turn into a bench warrant. So you could be picked up and taken into custody until you paid the fee.
Last year, the legislature voted to decriminalize most traffic violations in order to cut down on the number of people being held for traffic violations that only totally a couple hundred bucks. Now, most tickets are civil tickets only — so what happens if you don’t pay is that the state can pursue you like you owe them money (collection agencies, etc) but can’t hold you for non-payment.
Not ALL tickets are civil. Something like driving with an open container, endangerment of civilians, very high speeding — there are still criminal tickets. But your average speeding ticket is now civil only.
This means that the process for handling a ticket is different now, too, though.
IF YOU HAVE A CIVIL TICKET:
(This jnfo is for Las Vegas Justice Court only!)
If you have a traffic violation from the last three years, you probably can’t get a reduction. You should still try! But we have found that the court is not approving reductions if you have prior ones, sometimes even if it was reduced to a non-moving violation.
I hope this helps! A couple final points:
  1. If you have an outstanding warrant from before when the law changed — it may still be valid. Don’t assume it’s not. You can check online!
  2. This is just the process, it’s not legal advice. I can’t promise any outcome, can’t tell you for sure what will happen or that there aren’t other ways — I just think this info should be more accessible to people.
  3. If you still have ticket questions, you can call Morales Injury Law and we can try to help. Usually we can for free and sometimes we can’t, depends on the ticket type. (If you have any other legal issues, we are here for those too. 702-781-4848)
  4. For example, criminal tickets can be reduced, but I recommend speaking to an attorney because the process is different.
  5. This is not how to contest a ticket! That is also a different process.
Good luck!

2024.05.15 02:49 Comprehensive-Key111 Law enforcement question

I’ve been wanting to become a police officer since a very young age. I have taken this calling and joined a police explore program, done countless ride alongs, started taking criminal justice classes in high school and just got accepted into a very limited availability student police academy though my state police. It’s my passion and do not really have any further feelings for other professions. When I was born I had narrowing of my aorta causing me to have to have a heart coercion. As I grew I needed a larger graph resulting in a secondary graph to be placed over the existing to accommodate my growth. When I asked my heart doctor 5 years ago (middle school) if I could become a police officer he assured me I could. Therefore, I put my heart to it and continued to work to hopefully show my worth to a police department. This past June when I visited him again, he began to become unsure about me becoming a police officer despite no change in my heart or health condition. But I rather think after the incidents that have been occurring in the United States with police officers. My doctor has since retired and will be seeing a new doctor this coming year. Next year (senior HS) I will make the decision to attend school for criminal justice but unsure if after the degree I would get the job… From people with experience does anyone know if a Heart Condition/coercion would disqualify me from becoming a police officer???
