2010 Mercedes E350 Coupe, 117k Miles
I’ve just completed an intake manifold conversion/swap to the M014 composite manifold, including a flash tune from OETuning. Also did the CCV kit from FCP Euro at the same time (oil separator, centrifuge, drip pan, hoses, plugs).
During reassembly it seems I failed to properly reconnect the plugs on the engine wiring harness that’s clipped on the ECU mount (circled in this picture https://imgur.com/a/Id9TEUf).
It was dark, I was holding a flashlight, and working with one hand, I pressed the plugs together but apparently didn’t push them far enough for them to click. Called it a night and forgot to recheck my work when I came back to it the next day.
On initial startup the idle was extremely rough, lots of misfires and flashing CEL.
Pulled the codes from OBDLink and got the following:
P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected P0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected P0305 - Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected P0306 - Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected P0273 - Cylinder Injector 5 Circuit Low P0348 - Camshaft Position Sensor “A” Circuit High P0393 - Camshaft Position Sensor “B” Circuit High P2092 - “A” Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit Low P2094 - “B” Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit Low
So…errors from pretty much everything on the 4/5/6 Cylinder bank led me to believe I’d missed a plug. Pulled the air box and started checking and that’s when I discovered the loose connection previously described. Reconnected that plug, also disconnected the ground wire, cleaned the contact surfaces, and reconnected for good measure. Checked all the plugs on the injectors, camshaft adjuster magnets, and camshaft position sensors - all were solid.
Started the car up again, no more misfires and flashing CEL, engine seems to be running fairly smoothly however the CEL was continuously illuminated and there was quite a bit of lifter noise from that side of the engine now (Bit of backstory, I replaced all four camshaft adjuster magnets about a month ago and went to 0w-40 oil which completely eliminated the lifter noise).
Thinking maybe clearing the codes would help, I tried to do so through the OBDLink app and it was unsuccessful (maybe because it’s really more for BMW’s), so I tried disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a few minutes to clear them that way. No luck, when I started the car back up the CEL was still on with same codes, and the lifter noise persisted.
At this point I’m wondering if that plug being half connected has damaged the injector, adjuster magnets, and position sensors in question and they need to be replaced? Or could something else be going on?
My plan at this point is to start pulling the engine harness on that side of the engine and basically redo the assembly to see if I missed something else I’m not catching in visual inspection.

Hi all, Cooling media was recently replaced but still no cooling in the car, and we've got this code. I've tried to find any fuses related to the A/C but can only find one for the the blower motor.

Many creationists believe that Homo neanderthalensis was simply humans with rickets disease, or were extremely old aged humans, or that they didn't exist at all, or literally anything other than what we know to be the case - a separate species of genus Homo (humans) that died out about 40,000 years ago.

Of course, facts like these have proven to be no match against the creationists' trump card of 'nuh uh', so what else could we try?
SCNT-based cloning has been around for a while now, first widely publicised with the Dolly the Sheep experiment in 1996. It's improved to the point where creating healthy clones is not that difficult, and recently I learned that there are now consumer-facing businesses where they will clone people's pets so the owner's can have their beloved pets live again (by appearances only of course) in another body. In another story, cloning of primates is now just about feasible, with a rhesus macaque (an old world monkey) being most recent, still alive after 2 years. For these cloning experiments, the embryo is produced by fusing the nucleus of a cell from the desired organism with a vacant egg cell which can then be birthed from a surrogate mother.
In theory, since we have the Neanderthal genome, we could make the necessary 10 million point mutations to a stem cell from a human today (that would take a while), and use it to create a Neanderthal clone. The linked article points out that we would never be able to replicate the culture of the Neanderthals, and so many aspects of their lives would not be captured by this method, but their anatomy and skeletal morphology certainly would be, and we could show without a doubt that Neanderthals were their own separate species and not just defective people. Perhaps some brave soul would even be willing to test the theory that interbreeding between our species was relatively common..?

Due to the vagueness of the phrase, method of getting to that solution, and the lack of confirmation from the creator, this is more of a solution confirmation request.

Hi all! I have a 2010 V6 XLT with 217,500 miles and recently had some crazy symptoms I’ve finally troubleshooted. I’m posting so in case anyone else runs into this issue, they can either have a starting place or a little validation.
Issue:
Started as a battery light on. Had battery for about a year so didn’t think it was bad and went to the local store for free testing. Everything including the alternator tested out fine. I have not had a new alternator before but did recently do preventive and needed belt replacements due to a water pump issue. I assumed it was the alternator to begin with but given it was testing out fine, wasn’t too concerned. I went to a shop with more testing abilities and they also said battery and alternator were in peak condition and wanted to rip the dash out to fix the light. I wasn’t super worried about a light and didn’t want to fork over for unnecessary repairs.
Fast forward a few days and the power steering began clicking on and off along with phantom air conditioning turn ons. This occurred mostly in park but the power steering began going in and out as well while driving. This prompted more research and in reading online forums, discovered others encountered similar issues with Fords around my same make year. I didn’t see much in terms of fixes but decided it was worth another mechanic check.
My normal mechanic put it through a full list of tests and it was coding out as high voltage issues. Turns out it was sending 16.5 volts consistently and also had low voltage issues periodically.
Diagnosis: Faulty voltage regulator. They put in a new alternator and this has fixed the issue.
I’m not a mechanic so definitely recommend doing your diligence but hopefully this can help in case someone else is searching for possibilities as to what might be causing their car problems! 😀

My disabled mother has suffered multiple life threatening injuries since we were attacked, including being vulnerable to attack from having an asthma attack and beat almost to death by a predator And being on life support and hospitalized for over a month. I have also suffered multiple life threatening injuries including four fractured ribs and skin infections from sleeping outside in the rain. My sons mother, Sylvia, At a moments notice when I was attacked, disenfranchised and no longer able to share custody of our son due to the threat of him being in danger by unknown assailants and no home for him to reside with me, Sylvia was able to immediately care for our son fulltime with no help from me, while managing her career and a new fiance since the attacks began in Aug 2021. My son is suffering psychologically considering I have worked from home since he was born and was never separated from him until the attacks when he was 9 years old. He is the only witness to the full extent of the attacks and I do not want him anymore involved or to be interrogated. He witnessed the harassment of the landlord, and having his father and everything we built together taken. The acts of everyone involved went against everything I have ever taught him was possible and he had to witness me get shut down trying to get us help over and over and over. Just bought a 2010 Element w/ 169k on it. Drove it for a week and life was good.
Driving home from a short trip and VTEC stopped working, CEL and VSA light, car jerks around 3k RPM, my basic scan tool showed P2646. This is typically related to the VTEC solenoid valve and pressure switch. I have a new OEM switch/solenoid on the way but am working to verify issue before throwing it in there.
If I reset code, I can drive car under 2500rpm and code will not trip. I can drive over 2500rpm and it shifts and revs fine for a few seconds then CEL comes on and problem resumes.
-Battery shows at 12.6v. -Voltage at oil pressure switch connector is 11.6v, service manual says it should be battery voltage. Is that voltage drop a problem? -no noticeable corrosion on connectors. -less than 1ohm between switch connector ground and body ground -Valve solenoid measures 15.6 ohm. In spec. -pressure switch WORKS. I removed switch, put my multimeter on it and hit it with ~65psi air pressure. Less than 1ohm with ambient air, switch opens when blasted with air pressure. In spec. -Solenoid screen wasn’t too dirty but I cleaned anyways. No change. -Oil looks relatively clean, level is actually a smidge above the full mark, oil life on dash says 80%
Took to Autozone for a battery test and scan with more data. They say battery is GOOD. But they got a 61-1 (battery voltage failure) and 83-1 (ECM/PCM relation failure). Starting to freak out now.
Unfortunately I am not able to test oil pressure which is the one thing I really want to test. I have a feeling the 61-1 and 83-1 are related to P2646 and the VTEC may actually be fine.
Any further advice on where to look or check?

• shivering kittens (Mac OS X; YouTube), a "block-matching" puzzle game -- I was the sole programmer on the project, and programmed (in C++) the game from scratch.

I've an interest in competitive programming, and -- amongst other achievements -- I've solved over fifty of the problems posed by Project Euler (including solving one of those problems on a platform with a 4 MHz 8 bit processor and 32 KB of RAM -- no, there are no typos in that sentence..!), and over one hundred of the problems posed by CodeAbbey; I think that my most-notable achievement in competitive programming is my participation in the Advent Programming Contest 2013 organised (with support from Alpen-Adria-Universitat Klagenfurt) by IEEE Student Branch Klagenfurt, in which I achieved a rank of 10^th (out of 155) for programming (in Java) solutions to eighteen (out of twenty-four) of the problems posed by that contest.

Hello everyone! I'm planning to restore all of the paint on my 2010 Xterra. There's a few small rust spots and a deep scratch on the hood from a christmas tree incident that I plan on touching up with some touch-up paint. I went to O'Reillys to get a bottle of touch-up paint made from my cars paint code. I asked the painter if I needed a clear coat or anything like that to go over that as most of what I've seen online involves the usage of applying some clear coat from the pen then wet sanding. I was told that it already has protection and will look shiny, but the answer I got wasn't terribly helpful.
So, my question is, am I good to just use the paint as normal and just polish after sanding, letting it cure for however long etc, or do I need to get some touch-up clear coat and apply over the paint?
