Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity

2015.06.03 06:16 Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity

Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity is an officially recognized disability in Sweden (this is not recognized as an illness because no diagnosis exists for this condition).” Professor Johansson gave the example of a head ache “ how can one measure the pain or prove the existence of a head ache?” Sweden ranks in the top 10 in the world for healthcare. Magnetic Flux poses the largest threat to individuals with EMHS.

2024.05.17 01:13 queenwisteria24 Seeing how romanticized cigarettes are makes me want to smoke.

Seeing cigarette smokers or ex cigarette smokers talking about how great of an experience smoking cigarettes with strangers or friends is, how smoking a cigarette or two with your morning coffee is pure bliss, cigarettes after dinner, during breaks, during stressful times is, etc etc makes me want to start because I truly feel like I’m one of the very few people on the face of this earth who’s never experienced any of that. I’m one of those people who are very health conscious, but I’m starting to feel like a wussie because of it. Most people have zero hesitations to try cigarettes or other drugs, even if they know the health risks, they do it anyway not really giving a damn about the consequences later on. They just do it anyway because they don’t care and just really want to feel the buzz. I WANT to live a long life. I WANT to be healthy. I don’t want to fuck up my lungs. I don’t want health problems. But jeez Louise, seeing cigarette smokers and ex smokers romanticize smoking so much really makes me want to start smoking JUST to be able to experience all those things. JUST to be able to even say “Yeah, I can relate. I know what that’s like.” Cigarettes smokers are honestly like their own clique. Their own social club. ONLY THEY can relate to each other. ONLY THEY can bond together like that. All huddled around in a circle, smoking, talking and just generally having a good time. If you’re a non smoker who’s in a group where everyone but you is smoking, you can’t help but feel left out. Like you’re missing out on that special bonding part of smoking, even if you’re literally standing right next to them. And I’m almost certain that smokers look at their non-smoking friends and think “I wish my friend smoked so they could bond with the rest of us through cigarettes. They’re missing out and surely they feel left out.” Like, I’m almost certain smokers feel that way. I would feel bad about not smoking if I was in a group of smokers. I’m sure they would secretly wished I smoked too even if they didn’t tell me that. And you could say “Well, just vape” but honestly, vaping just doesn’t fit that “smoker vibe”. If you’re in a group where everyone is smoking cigarettes, sharing lighters and lighting each other’s cigs and you’re just standing there awkwardly puffing away on your awkward looking techy electronic vape, wouldn’t the smokers really think you’re just ruining their “edgy” or “grungy” vibe instead of fitting in with them? Even though you’re doing almost the same thing they are, inhaling and exhaling something to get a good feeling out of it? Most cigarette smokers see vaping as childish, cringe, or just not as a cool as actually smoking, and won’t even touch a vape JUST for those reasons alone, even if vaping is the “healthier” option. I’m literally 25 and never smoked, but lord sometimes I really do consider it just to experience the “good” parts about smoking. Rational and logical me knows it’s just the addiction on the smokers end when they romanticize smoking, but the other part of me is like “but I feel like I’m really missing out and I feel left out because I can’t relate to them.” Also the fact that smoker CONSTANTLY have to step away smoke. If you’re a non smoker hanging out with smoker friends, be it at the movies, an amusement park, a restaurant, museum, or even just at someone’s house, they have to CONSTANTLY interrupt the activity or event to go somewhere and smoke, and as a non smoker that would get old. Is it REALLY quality time together if your friends are constantly leaving you, the non smoker, behind to go somewhere and smoke with their smoking buddies? They probably like them more anyway because they can go smoke together and spend quality time together like that. So, why not I just start smoking and join them, you know?

2024.05.17 00:31 Quaternion4242 MZ73-LM0 with Dual Eypc 9754 - no post?!

Hi all,
my system is as follows:
2 x Epyc 9754
EKWB SP5 Coolers with 1.3 nm torque (11.5 inch-lbs)
Gigabyte MZ73-LM0 rev 2.0
Samsung 990 PRO M.2
2 x 16GB DDR5-4800 CL40 ECC Registered (1 stick per CPU in the correct slot for troubleshooting)
4060 ti GPU
When I turn on the system, fans spin, lots of green LEDs on the motherboard light up, but I do not hear any beeps and I do not get a signal on my monitor via Displayport from the 4060.
My questions are as follows:
  1. Could it be that everything is in fact working fine but that the board does not beep (I read that a lot of modern boards don't) and that the screen signals goes through the integrated VGA port? (I don't have a VGA monitor to check, but ordered an adapter)
  2. Or is it the case that I am supposed to hear a beep and it is a genuine no post? If so, what steps should I take to resolve the problem?
  3. Is my torque too low? It felt quite a lot when I put the screws in.

Dell 17" Precision 7780 Workstation - Timestamp - $2,800 Shipped
My company (VR development) just had a massive layoff and a friend I referred was affected. I was their manager and our IT contractor sent me their new laptop by mistake shortly before our surprise new CEO/happenings. So now I'm selling it for them while they look for a new job; it's literally never been used other than our IT company's initial setup and my clean Windows reinstall.
I reformatted the drive to wipe out the Dell bloatware and my coworker's info, reinstalled all the drivers, and got Windows fully updated; it's ready to upgrade to Windows 11 if you want to.
Benchmarks say the 4090 mobile should be around a desktop 4070 Ti/3090 in performance; I've got a slightly older model with a 3080 Ti which performs on par with my desktop's 2080 Super, so that lines up with my experience. It really is a great gaming laptop if you're looking for something to be able to hook up to a TV/monitor.
The best part is I confirmed with our IT company that we can transfer ownership, so purchase includes the remainder of the business-level support services (tech support via phone or chat, someone to come to your house for hardware repairs/replacements depending on circumstances) for the next *two and a half years*, through September 2026. (Expires on Oct 4) Laptop was at least $3,800 new, company originally ordered it October 3, 2023.
If you have any questions, want more pictures/videos, complete terms on the support services, whatever, don't hesitate to comment or message me!

2024.05.17 00:16 paranoidAF365 How do I get a wire from the license plate on the rear bumper into the trunk?

(2019 Dodge Challenger) I have a wire going from the cigarette lighter to the trunk, but not I’m trying to figure out how to get the wire from the license plate into the trunk to connect it. There are no holes in the rear bumper. I know there’s two vents on the trunk wall, so I’m thinking I could fish the wire through that, but how do I get it to the license plate on the bumper?

2024.05.16 23:52 jeanrenefefe How to upgrade a Creative Zen Micro to 128gb (with and without a VM)

I know this is an iPod subreddit, but it's the most active subreddit dedicated to mp3 players (I think). I know there are some fans of these players around here but let me know if you want this gone though.
After a few frustrating weeks of trying to upgrade my Creative Zen Micro to 128gb, I finally succeeded on upgrading it. Here is a step by step.

With a Virtual Machine

Given that the software part can get very frustrating, I suggest that you first focus on creating a working environment based on your stock mp3 player. This will limit the number of things that can go wrong.
This was tested on a Windows 11 machine (called Host from now on).
Download Virtualbox. Use your own Windows XP SP2 image or find one (google: archive + WinXPProSP2ENG). Download the Windows Media Player 10 updater from archive.org Download the Creative Zen Micro drivers and upgraders from archive.org
Install Virtualbox. Install Windows XP on Virtualbox - this can be a big step if you don't have much experience in this field, but there are plenty of tutorials on how to do it - check the references below.
Now that you have your Windows XP VM (called Guest from now on) up and running, go to the Devices tab on the top of your screen and click on "Insert guest additions CD...". This will insert a virtual CD containing some Virtualbox drivers and you'll get a pop up on your Guest machine. Install them and reboot your machine.
Turn off your Guest machine.
Connect the Zen Micro to your Host machine. Your Host machine should recognize the player with no trouble.
In Virtualbox, click on your VM machine and go to settings > USB > USB2.0 > click on the 'plus' sign and add your device there. The name should be "Creative...".
Now, in the same settings menu, go to the tab "shared folders" and click on "add". Now, choose the folder you want to share between the Host and the Guest machines. Give it a name and a mount point. I picked "sharewithxp" for all the fields, including the name of the directory on Host. Check 'auto-mount' and 'make permanent' (if it exists).
On your Host machine, copy the files MP10Setup.exe, ZenMicroPDE_PCFW_LB_1_11_01.exe and JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US_2_01_00.EXE to the shared directory you just created. Also copy MP10Setup.exe.
Turn on your Guest machine and go to "My Computer". You should see your shared folder in there. Copy all the files from there to your Guest's desktop.
Install MP10Setup.exe - this upgrades the Windows Media Player from 9 to 10. By experience, Windows Media Player 11 was problematic and apparently 9 isn't ok either. Stick to WMP 10. This was key for me. It really didn't work without WMP10.
Install JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US_2_01_00.EXE - these are the drivers for the Zen Micro.
Disconnect your Zen Micro from your computer. Connect it again. Go to devices > usb on the top menu and make sure your device is selected.
Execute ZenMicroPDE_PCFW_LB_1_11_01.exe If everything went according to plan you should now see an "Upgrade" button. If you see said button - congratulations because this was the most painful part of the process. I realized that when the device is correctly loaded, the executable won't open right away - It takes a few seconds. If the device wasn't fully recognized, you'll see a message saying "Your player is not connected, please connect your player".
(If you got the dreadful second message and no "upgrade" button, try to reboot your Guest machine. Disconnect and connect your player again. Make sure it appears on the devices menu.)
Now that you have a working environment, let's move to the fun part.
Format your micro sd card (fat32 if I'm not mistaken) - I used a Sandisk Extreme 128gb (the golden ones) and it worked fine. Insert the micro sd on your CF-to-SD adapter. I got the the only adapter I could find (red one).
Disassemble your Zen Micro - there are tutorials and videos around that show you how to do it better than I possible could - check the references below.
Remove the CF card from the mp3 player and insert the adapter. Pay attention to the position of the old CF card. CF cards don’t have a big distinguishable difference on one side like sd cards do. It's really easy to get mistaken and connect it on the wrong side. The only differences are the slots/openings on both sides of the CF card/adapter - one is larger than the other. When the adapter is connected and in place, its label should be visible (pointing upwards). Take a picture of the original CF card if needed or check the video in the references below.
Assemble everything back but do not insert the battery right away.
Toggle the power button to the left and hold it that position. Insert the battery. You should now be in recovery mode. Navigate to "format all" and click ok. Navigate to "reboot" and click ok.
Connect your player to the computer and, in the Guest machine, make sure it is selected on the devices > usb menu.
Open ZenMicroPDE_PCFW_LB_1_11_01.exe If everything went according to plan, the upgrade button should now be visible. Click. Wait. Enjoy.
PS: Inside the Creative Zen Micro link, there is also an upgrader for the most recent version - 2.21. I haven't tried it because I don't think it brings anything that interesting to the player. There are also 2 older drivers in there - also untested.

2024.05.16 23:40 kingpubcrisps Looking for weird strategies for quitting.

I met a woman a while back who quit smoking, she started when she was 14 and was now in her 70s, so smoking was a big part of her identity and also she was terrified of running out of cigarettes.
So when she quit, she saved three cigarettes in her last pack, to make sure if she really, really needed them she could smoke them. But to make sure she didn't she tied this pack up in a big bed sheet. So she knew it was there but too big a hassle to get to.
And then I also read this story in a book by Alejandro Jodorowsky...
I met Alejandro in the seventies. We worked on the film Dune. Every day for two months, he brought me a new surprise in his totally surreal way of approaching the creation of a work, or any thought or situation, for that matter . . . One of my most gnawing problems at the time was smoking—how to spend these long hours with this fascinating person without affirming my thoughts through big puffs of “fumoduction,” cheerfully conversing over some refreshments on the terrace at a café, once the magic was implemented. Silence around the table, all the attention turned toward what I had started. Alejandro contemplated me with a discreet and friendly mirth. I thought about this dear smoke, intangible chum, always available, effective, and reassuring, with the merry clacking of the lighter, the scratching sound of the matches . . . Was I ready to abandon these apparently indispensable pleasures? But I also thought of the gray ashes, which invade everything, of the shortness of breath, of the phlegm and pain in the mornings . . . I decided to take the step! And then, I was very curious. Not only was I going to see Alejandro perform a magic trick, but also I was going to be the object. One last thing incited me to jump: the others sitting around me, waiting for my response. Was I going to disappoint them and deprive them of magic in action?
“Okay, I am ready!”
“Right now?”
“Right now.”
“Give me your pack of cigarettes.”
I took out my pack of Gauloises, a third of the way gone. Was he going to cast a spell on them, transform them into a pumpkin? After some bizarre incantation, he whispered with seriousness: “My magic is very powerful but very simple. To quit smoking, it suffices to make the decision, and that you have already done. The problem is to remember your decision, and that is where magic takes place. Who has a pen?” I extended to him my ballpoint pen and gazed, fascinated, at the precise gestures of my friend who took apart the cellophane wrapping on the pack. He took the pen . . . I was finally going to see into what cabalistic sign, what powerful charm, he was going to transform my opened pack. “It is very simple. On this side, I write this little word—No, and on the other side this little phrase—I can.” Alejandro wrapped the cellophane back around the pack, and he returned it to me as if it were a bomb ready to explode or nothing less than the Holy Grail wrapped in a golden fleece. I should keep this pack a half-dozen weeks until, completely cleared of the least desire to smoke, I make it a gift to a friend in need—one had to wonder what this “no” and “I can” meant. I have not, since, had the least desire to touch a cigarette again.
This got me curious what kind of weird tricks you guys might have used or heard about that are not the normal '5 Ds' or eating carrots or whatever.

2024.05.16 23:34 goBerserk_ Project Napoleon Chapter 4

Fletch gently pushed open the large and lavishly decorated bronze doors of the university administration building and ambled out into the portico. He set his cup of coffee down on the pedestal of a granite pillar and pulled his cigarette case from the breast pocket of his tan trench coat. The old chief inspector plucked a cigarette from the ornately engraved case with slender fingers and wondered why the Kael let him come at all.
Something felt very off with the whole thing. The more he thought about it, the more he questioned the story he got. Mike Anderson was certainly depressed, but as far as Fletch could tell, he had not displayed any suicidal behavior. And why now? Fletch thought. Things were on the upswing for the kid. His grades were excellent, his family situation was good, and he was out of the house more this term than the last. Fletch scratched his mustache. Why would the seals hide the autopsy and the gun? He brought the cigarette to his lips, snapped the filigreed case shut, and slipped it back into the breast pocket of his coat. Fletch flicked open his lighter and sighed as he lit his cigarette. Murder.
It was a hopeless case. These days, warrants were approved by the seals, and even if they weren't, he doubted that he could get one anyway. His suspicion of foul play was backed by nothing but his instinct.
Fletch watched students hustle and bustle through the plaza in front of him as he puffed away at his cigarette and pondered his theory.
But why kill him now? They could have done it in complete secrecy while he was a POW. And it couldn’t be to keep what happened in Philadelphia under wraps. His death brings more attention to it. And he wasn’t a rebel. So why? Fletch sipped at his coffee as he flicked ash from his cigarette. Vengeance? Did he kill some noble brat during the war?
Fletch scratched at his grey mustache and glanced at his watch. I’ll have to follow that thread. He tossed his half-smoked cigarette into a puddle as he briskly walked down the steps and through the university plaza.
The withered investigator was deep in thought when he entered the parking lot. What do I tell that Enrique chap? He unlocked his car and crawled in. I certainly can’t tell him that his mate’s been clipped with no evidence. Fletch turned the key, and the engine of his little Volvo sputtered to life. It’s no bleeding use. I’ll just tell the lad they weren’t interested in sharing and keep my suspicions to myself.
As he reached for the shifter, Fletch noticed a delightfully thick manilla envelope stuck in the gap between the center console and the passenger seat.
He pulled the envelope from the crack. Gingerly, he opened it and pulled out a small note. It read We’re even now, prick.
Fletch smiled and couldn’t help but mutter, “The game is afoot,” as he flicked through the stack of documents inside.
Isabella poked her head into the large office and saw Professor Dret’la with a ball of dark green yarn on her lap and bone darning needles beset with carvings in her hands.
Isabella was struck with confusion. What? She crochets!?
The professor looked up from her labor, spotted the confused girl outside her door, and called, “Come in.”
Isabella walked into the office and took a seat. She gestured to the yarn in the professor's hands. “What are you making?”
The professor smiled as motherly as one could with a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth. “It will be a hat for my son. He just received his commission as a junior biologist, so he has to rummage around in freezers to get samples for his whole research team.”
Isabella blinked. This was not characteristic at all for the quick-tempered professor with a penchant for launching chalk across lecture halls at the mildest provocation.
Isabella shook off her shocked expression and gave the tall professor a dimpled cheek smile. “That’s so sweet! I’m sure he’ll love it. One of the best gifts I’ve ever received was a thick wool sweater from my mamma during a training exercise off the coast of Norway.”
The professor, still smiling, sat up straight. “I hope that’s the kind of reception I get.”
The professor’s demeanor hardened as she stowed the yarn and needles in the desk drawer. “Now, let's get down to business.”
Isabella gulped.
“To start, congratulations. You’ve passed our testing and been selected for officer training.”
Isabella asked, “Who else was selected?”
“There are nine others: Robert Rhodes, Elena Pavel, Hal Jellico, Zheng Li, Brooke Halsey, Colow Aden, Magnus Tordenskjold, Bill Lee, and Kazuya Yamamoto.”
Isabella didn’t recognize all the names.
“Should you choose to accept, you will be taking a prep course taught by Colonel Ocidea and I starting next week and lasting all through the summer. If we deem you ready, you’ll ship out for basic training and then off to the Royal Military Academy, where you can earn your commission.” Dr. Dret’la leaned in close to Isabella. “Do you accept?”
Without hesitation, Isabella answered, “Yes.”
“Mike, come over here. You’re going to want to see this.” Calty voiced from her seat in the front of the cockpit.
Mike rolled off the couch and walked into the front of the cockpit as the captain shouted, “Decelerate!” Mike couldn’t help but grab onto the back of Calty’s seat as the FTL drive kicked into gear. The cockpit glass dimmed just before blindingly bright blue jets of fire from the front-facing engines came into view. A bright green circle flickered onto the glass surrounding a marble-sized dot darker than the rest of the now dim screen. The dots and circles expanded at an extreme pace until they took up most of the display. Another dot appeared—minuscule compared to the other—surrounded by a red circle. The growth of the shadowy dots and the circles around them slowed and then stopped entirely as the engines sputtered out.
The HUD faded out of view, and the tint of the glass slowly lightened, revealing a vast planet embraced by blue-green ice with a colossal foundry in its orbit. The planet, a gas giant called Drassus, was orbited by four rings. One was made of containers, and the other three were made up of loose ore gleaming in the nearby star's light. Exhaust chimneys spewing gas and fire sprouted from the otherwise spherical foundry, giving it a sea urchin-like profile, which, together with the weave of pipes bringing fuel from beneath the icy surface of the planet below, made the foundry resemble an old naval mine.
The captain strode up to the front of the cockpit. “One-third ahead and steer 14 degrees left. We’re unloading in bay three.”
Six mech suits and a tug exited a plasma-shielded hanger as the ship came to a halt. The mechs glided to the front of the ship and started dismounting the external cargo bay from the Broken Fin while the tug hitched onto the opposite end of the ten-kilometer-long rack of containers.
A little while later, the tug pulled away with the load of containers, and the comm system blared to life. “Broken Fin, you are cleared to leave. The UO corporation thanks you for your business.”
The captain replied, “Our pleasure. Broken fin out.” as the ship pulled out of the loading bay.
He turned to the navigation officer and said, “Lock in coordinates for jump to Kael Prime.”
The captain went to the central control board and pulled up traffic control. “Tower 1, this is the Broken Fin. We request a jump slot to Kael Prime from Drassus.”
“Broken Fin, request granted. Your departure slot is at 16:33.”
Mike glanced at the top right of the ship's HUD and looked at the time. 16:21.
Better get my stuff together…
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ship shuddered ever so slightly despite the inertial dampeners as it exited FTL. Mike was lounging on the couch with his bag at his feet. He was ready to get off this tub.
Mike idly watched flames lick at the cockpit window as the ship descended into the atmosphere of Kael Prime. He looked at Dreki, who was sitting on the other couch. His muscles bulged through his clothes despite wearing a white sweater so large it could be mistaken for the sail of an average-sized boat. Mike asked, “Do you know anything about what’ll happen to me now?”
The big Kael shifted in his seat. “Technically, I’m not supposed to tell you anything, but what the hell.” Dreki pulled the collar of his sweater down, revealing an angry white number burnt into his iron-gray skin just below the collarbone. “First, you’ll get branded.” He released his shirt and pointed to a small scar on the side of his head. “Then you’ll get an AR implant.”
“Where will I be getting that?” Mike asked.
“The Imperial Science Academy. We’re going to be staying there for a few days. They’ll run a bunch of tests and get you fitted for equipment there. After that, I’ll drop you off at the spaceport, and you’ll be off to Tlaxcalssus for basic training. After that, I don’t know.”
“Thanks.”
The ship shook as it touched down on the landing pad. “Time to go.” Dreki shouldered his pack and walked out the door. Mike fiddled with the straps of his bag as he followed Dreki down the ramp and to the far side of the ship, away from the rest of the passengers. Mike's nose was immediately assaulted with the acrid smell of sulfur from where the fiery exhausts of engines had melted asphalt. The spaceport was swarming with vehicles and filled with the constant roar of ship engines and a symphony of smaller equipment. Power loaders and mechs loaded and unloaded heavy cargo, shuttles bustled to and fro with passengers, baggage carriers snaked through the crowded landing pads, and vehicles that looked like floating garage doors zipped through the air at ankle height, bringing pilots and crew to their ships. Mike couldn’t help but chuckle a little at the absurdity of it all. Here he was, in the heartland of the enemy, walking through what was essentially a ten-acre parking lot.
Dreki plopped his bags on the ground and yawned as he stretched his arms over his head. “Our skiff will be here in a minute.”
Mike tuned out the beeps and whirrs of the tank-sized forklifts and mechs unloading the ship and gazed out beyond at the horizon. You’re not in Kansas anymore, bub. Mike thought as he studied the skyline of the imperial city basked in the glow of the early evening sun. Some of the buildings wouldn’t look all that out of place on Earth, but the skyline was assaulted with abominations that pissed on the laws of physics as Man understood them. Tusk-shaped skyscrapers defied gravity with their seemingly unsupported curves, and even more absurd were pyramids stacked atop another point-to-point like hourglasses. Any delusion of normalcy that Mike could come up with was shattered.
Dreki picked up his bag and pointed to a slab of black marble speeding towards them at ankle height. “Here’s our skiff.” A railing popped out of the center as the skiff came to a gliding halt. Dreki boarded the skiff and took hold of the rail, and Mike followed suit.
They sped through the spaceport and stopped outside what looked to Mike like a train station. Dreki shouldered his bag and stepped off the skiff. Mike stepped off and quickly fell in pace with Dreki. The big Kael led Mike into a grand station bustling with people. Most were Kael, but there was a smattering of other species. Some stared at Mike, others glanced, but most completely ignored him as he followed Dreki through the hall and onto a platform. Unfamiliar aliens clearly weren’t an uncommon sight here.
The walls of the station were covered with mosaics depicting Kael warriors from the distant past. Dreki noted the human's curiosity and said, “The founders of the clans.” He leveled a massive hand toward an opulent, towering mosaic of a Kael warrior wielding a bronze falx. The imposing figure's body was made of blue gemstones, the eyes rubies, one tusk silver, and the other gold. “That’s the founder of my clan, Drekalla Gold Tusk.”
Mike asked, “How’d he manage that?” As he followed Dreki into a mostly empty train car.
Dreki plopped down on a bench. “He was the war priest of Hroptaug the Conqueror during the unification wars. After the wars were won, Hroptaug granted us the Steam Hills.” Dreki pointed through the train window at the mosaic of another warrior whose body was made of milky white pearls. “That one,” He paused and spat on the floor, “Tiblan the Terror, challenged Drekalla to a duel for most of that land. Drekalla was cutting him to pieces, but the craven poisoned his blade. Just before Drekalla could deliver the final blow, the poison reached his heart, and Drekalla died. The only wound on his body was a cut across his forearm that barely drew blood.” Dreki rolled up his sleeve, showing a scar that reached from his elbow to the middle of his forearm. “Every K’alla is cut the same way to remind us of the blood feud.”
Mike inwardly sighed. Kael and their damned feuds… “How long ago was this.”
“Seven thousand four hundred and fifty-one years ago.”
Mike held back a snort. The absurdity of it all. The first human law codes came about to stop blood feuds, and out here, they have feuds that have lasted longer than Earth's recorded history.
“How’s that feud been going as of late?”
Dreki’s face sagged, “Not good.”
They both grew quiet. Mike shuffled uncomfortably.
Mike glanced at the route display and broke the silence, “What's with the middle city, inner city thing?”
Dreki relaxed slightly. “Oh, so the city used to be a fortification. The inner city is actually a volcanic island. The middle is built over the river, and the outer city was built on the banks.”
“I see.”
The doors closed, and the intercom sounded, “Next stop, the inner city.”
Dale Robert’s wrinkled face was unreadable, and his highly decorated black and blue dress uniform immaculate as he led a horse through the street. He felt the eyes of thousands of onlookers on him, and he hated it. The pure black horse had a black leather saddle on its back. Two tall, glossy black boots were placed backward in silver stirrups, and the elaborate hilt of Mike’s basket-hilted broadsword jutted from the top of a black leather scabbard buckled to the saddle. Roberts followed the horse-drawn caisson bearing the flag-draped coffin of his old commanding officer. Not much farther now, he thought. The sounds of the cartwheels rolling and the horse’s tack jangling were wholly drowned out by boots stamping the ground in unison. Almost all of the 1800 survivors of the 801st regiment were there, resplendent in their dress uniforms, marching behind Mike one more time. The local police and fire departments joined them.
Roberts was unsure about it all. He felt that the poor kid's family would have preferred a smaller service back home in Colorado instead of this damn near royal procession. And Roberts was damn sure that the seals did not give their permission for this, no matter what the police chief said.
A reporter ducked through the police barricade and tried to ask the marching soldiers questions, but they remained stone-faced as the procession marched nearer to the gates of Philadelphia National Cemetery. Roberts handed the reigns of the riderless horse to another man in uniform and joined seven other members of Charlie platoon in pulling the casket from the cassion. They silently began their march to the grave, closely followed by General McCarthy, the man who was Joint Chief of Staff, and the color guard. Bagpipers began to blare, “Going Home.” Roberts heard the sound of gravpulse engines and looked up in dismay as a Kael gunship broke through the low clouds and descended to just barely above the cemetery. A loudspeaker blared, “Disperse at once.”

2024.05.16 22:54 cats7pajamas battle of the kirstens (2024 and early 90s)

battle of the kirstens (2024 and early 90s)
ok really hoping these pics upload normally and not stretched lol. here is The Kirsten comparison post!! basic notes: New Kirsten (2024, arrived today) (NK) is always on the RIGHT in pictures where she is beside OG Kirsten. OG Kirsten (very early 90s approx, got her off Ebay) (OG) is on the LEFT in comparison photos. some differences in colouring can be attributed to OG Kirsten's age. both dolls have in their original braids (though OG's ribbons have slid a bit w/ age lol) and are shown in their original meet outfits unless otherwise stated! this post will NOT include comparisons of the bonnet or bloomers as my OG did not come w/ her bonnet and the elastic in her bloomers is in need of repair. all pics are taken in natural light. also not comparing accessories (which I didnt even realize were hidden beneath the meet Kirsten book until after hitting post LOL) bc I don't have the OG set.
pics 1-8 clothing and facial/hair comparisons:
  • obvious differences being NK's darker eye colour and slimmer face. OG has the dark brown, somewhat shorter lashes where NK has black, slightly longer lashes. NK's mouth is more vertical than OG's which is more horizontal and has slightly less lip. colouring as far as blushing is pretty similar but note OG's age.
  • hair-wise, OG Kirsten sports a more ashy shade of blonde where NK's hair has a bit more of a golden tint to it, and is somewhat shinier. bangs cover both of their eyebrows, which are both line-style. didn't get a very good pic of it, but NK's brows are a light brown whereas OG's are more similar to her hair colour. both dolls have the classic short wig-hairs to cover the braid part.
  • hair ribbons are very similar, same material roughly, NK's have a bit more shine/finish
  • ok, the clothes. as you can see in the pics, the dresses are very similar except that NK's is darker in base colour and that the patterns ARE actually different, slightly! both have velcro on the sleeves (NK's is vertical where OG's is a horizontal strip) and up the back, though NK's back velcro starts right at the waistband and has a small gap below it where OG's starts about 1.5 inches (i'm Canadian so this may be a bad approximation lol) below the waistband and has a larger gap below it. the waistband "stops" at the same point at both dresses (right below the armpit, meaning there is no waistband in the back of the dress). both have the double seam at the bottom. the collar on NK's dress is slightly thicker. the fit of NK's dress is looser than OG's.
  • the aprons are virtually the same. the straps on NK's apron are a little bit longer. NK's apron is a bit more vibrant red but account for age of OG apron.
  • the most strikingly different to me were the socks - NK's socks are grey and mustard where OG's are mustard (slightly lighter) and buttercream/beige. OG's socks have a more looser knit/handknit quality to them where NK's are more clearly machine produced and almost seem printed.
  • boots are similar. the feel/quality differs, OG's being more leatherlike and NK's more plastic. OG's lining colour is brown, NK's is grey, and there are slight variations in the colour of the boots themselves and the ties, as seen in the pics.
pics 9-11 body comparisons:
  • NK is slimmer, but not hugely? imo it's most noticeable in the midsection area and the back view. my OG may also just not be the chubbiest Kirsten, though. NK's limbs are definitely a bit slimmer, particularly her arms. NK has body tag and zip tie vs. OG's no tag/neck strings. vinyl colouring is very similar, NK is sliiiightly more tan but again, account for age.
pics 12-13 clothing swap:
  • their clothes DO fit each other. didn't struggle to get the clothes/shoes on either, but Kirsten's meet is a bit forgiving in its design so do with that what you will. OG's dress actually seems more fitted to me. as previously noted I need to repair OG's bloomers so I didn't try those on NK but they're an elastic waist so I assume the swap would be fine. didn't unlace the boots on either, just slipped them on.
pics 14-17 NK eye colour notes:
  • have seen ppl say that her eye colour aligns well with Saige so put it to the test. I don't think it's an EXACT match, Saige's seem a little lightemore aqua to me but they are definitely extremely similar.
pic 18 NK in box:
  • literally love her what a queen. also I think her face and eyes are very symmetrical so feeling blessed by the ag gods lol.
please lmk if you have any questions! I tried to be as thorough as possible haha. overall love love them both.

2024.05.16 22:48 bkg96 My first car: Slavia 1.5TSI MT

My first car: Slavia 1.5TSI MT
Drove 2k kms in first 5 days. Due to run-in period, I am keeping the car mostly under 2k RPMs and have touched 3k sparingly.
The engine is fab. Extremely smooth and refined. Post 1600 RPM the turbo pull is mad. Suspension is on slightly lighter side, but complements very well to Indian road conditions. Braking is top notch, I didn't miss the lack of rear disc pads yet. AC works like a charm even in 40C, cools the cabin in 5-6 mins. FE is respectable at 15-16 in highways and 10-11 in city.
Only gripe is the steering feedback. It is not how Octy Gen3/Laura or even Rapid. Not a deal breaker but you miss the Skoda DNA there!

2024.05.16 22:17 ja_feel From Snacks to SaaS, and lessons I've learned along the way

Hey Entrepreneur!
I wanted to share the story of the past year and a half of my life - a tale of challenges, tech innovation, and a whole lot of snacks. This isn’t just about launching a product; it’s about solving a big problem that inspired an entire platform.
TL;DR: My buddy and I sold our previous snack subscription box company and made a cool thing

The Seeds of Discontent

At our previous company, my buddy Mike and I saw how powerful influencer marketing could be. Our business, delivering international snacks to doorsteps, was perfect for social media. But managing these influencer partnerships was a huge headache.
Each new campaign started with excitement but quickly became overwhelming. We dealt with many social media platforms, each with its own rules and metrics. Keeping track of everything felt like trying to solve a puzzle with pieces that kept changing. The tools we used were basic. They helped us send products and payments but didn’t offer much for managing or understanding the big picture.
Tracking our campaign performance was a real pain. With just a small team running our marketing, we were juggling hundreds of influencers at the same time. It was hard to keep an eye on everyone and make quick decisions. Plus, the data we got was often late and messy, making things even more frustrating.
This constant struggle showed us a big gap in our toolkit. We needed a solution that could make managing influencers easier and give us useful insights, something as dynamic and global as our product. This ongoing frustration planted the seeds for what would eventually become our new company.

Market Research: Finding the Pain Points

After selling our previous business, Mike and I took a six-month break. We explored different ideas, from unique apps to a Castle Crashers style game. But our experience working with creators kept pulling us back to marketing. We knew the challenges of influencer marketing needed to be addressed.
We talked to our network in the e-commerce space to see if they had similar problems. The feedback was eye-opening. Many businesses struggled with existing tools, which mostly acted as simple marketplaces, where interactions were brief and not very deep.
Even worse, the few ambassador tools available were expensive and limited. When I searched for an ambassador software tool that worked across all social networks, the options I found required scheduling demos days in advance. They often lacked direct API connections and supported only a few major social media networks. The starting prices were high, often around $5k per month, with costs going up as the program expanded.
This research not only validated our experiences but also showed us a strategic need for our own tool. We realized we needed a solution not just to fill the current gap but also as a key part of our marketing stack for future businesses. We were determined to build something that wouldn’t force us—or anyone else—to pay a crazy amount for effective influencer marketing.

Designing the Dream: Our New Business’ Blueprint

With a clear vision from our frustrations and market research, we set out to create our new business. Our goal was to build a comprehensive tool that would change influencer marketing. Here’s what we focused on:
Each feature of our tool we were creating was designed to address specific pain points we identified. Our goal was to offer a tool that was powerful, efficient, adaptable, and enjoyable for both brands and their ambassador partners.

Launching Our New Business: Embracing User Feedback

After about 18 months of design and development, we started the soft launch of our new business on May 1st. Opting for a soft launch allowed us to focus on real-time feedback and fine-tuning over making a big initial splash. This approach is crucial - not just for introducing our product but for understanding how it fits into the real world, where actual users rely on it.

Initial Rollout and Testing

Our launch a couple of weeks ago marked the start of our public journey. We released our new tool we created with ambassador apps on the App Store and Google Play, and opened our web-based company portal for business use. This phase is not about mass marketing but about engaging with our professional network and early adopters testing everything in real-world conditions. This includes real companies and creators, ensuring our platform is robust and responsive.

Iterative Feedback Integration

Feedback from these early stages is invaluable. We have set up multiple channels to communicate with our initial users to ensure they feel supported and heard. This ongoing dialogue is critical as it helps us identify and implement necessary adjustments quickly. Each piece of feedback is a step towards improving functionality and user experience.

Continued Development Based on Early Insights

Since we are still in the soft launch phase, our focus remains on refining the platform. A recent development was adding the Creator Hub and Company Center about a month ago—enhancements from recognizing limitations in our initial setup.
Creator Hub: The Creator Hub allows businesses to manage their ambassador relationships dynamically. Companies can discover and invite creators who match their interests and campaign goals, ensuring more personalized and effective collaborations.
Company Center: This feature allows creators to independently discover and apply to various ambassador programs, giving them the freedom to engage with brands that align with their interests.
These features aim to make the connection between companies and creators as seamless and beneficial as possible, accommodating a wide range of marketing strategies and campaign sizes.

How The Tool We Created Works: Streamlining Influencer Marketing

Our tool is designed to simplify and enhance the influencer marketing process for both companies and creators. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how our platform works:
  1. Signup and Integration
- Companies can quickly create customizable signup forms. They can also invite new ambassadors directly from the Creator Hub that match their interests. This flexibility helps integrate Social Strudel into existing marketing workflows.
2. Ambassador Onboarding
- Creators apply to become ambassadors, download the Social Strudel app, and connect their social media accounts. This ensures that once approved, creators can start engaging with brand campaigns promptly.
3. Application Review
- Companies get notifications of new applicants and can approve or decline them based on their fit and relevance to marketing goals. This step ensures only the best ambassadors represent the brand.
4. Targeted Segmentation
- Companies can segment ambassadors into groups, allowing them to tailor activities and communications. This supports targeted marketing strategies and more personalized engagement.
5. Activity Management
- Companies set up new activities on various social platforms for ambassadors. Examples include:
- These are just examples, and activities can be tailored to fit different platforms and goals.
6. Real-Time Notifications
- Creators get notifications about new activities through push notifications and email. They can browse the app for available activities, ensuring they never miss an opportunity.
7. Submission and Verification
- Creators submit proof of activity completion directly through the app. This makes managing submissions easy and organized for companies.
8. Activity Approval
- Companies review submitted activities, approving or declining them based on quality and alignment with campaign objectives. This maintains high standards and ensures effectiveness.
9. Rewards and Motivation
- Upon approval, creators earn points, which can be redeemed for various rewards. This system motivates creators to produce high-quality content and stay engaged.
10. Custom Rewards Creation
11. Reward Notifications and Redemption
12. Reward Distribution Management

Looking Forward: The Road Ahead for Us

As we continue with our new business, we are committed to not just meeting but exceeding the evolving needs of digital marketing. We’ve only just begun to tap into our platform’s potential, and our roadmap is geared towards enhancing our service and expanding our reach.

Enhanced Integration Capabilities

We aim to expand our platform’s integration capabilities, adding support for social networks like WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, and Quora, and adapting to new emerging platforms like the anticipated Vine 2. By covering more platforms, we provide our users with tools to engage with audiences everywhere online.

Advanced Analytics and AI Implementation

Understanding the crucial role of data, we plan to enhance our analytics engine with advanced metrics and predictive analytics. By integrating AI, we aim to give users insights that reflect current trends and anticipate future behaviors.

Continued Focus on User Experience

User feedback is key and remains a cornerstone of our development. We are committed to refining the user experience based on real usage and feedback. This includes enhancing our mobile apps and ensuring the Creator Hub and Company Center are intuitive and robust. Both are still in early stages, and we are actively working to improve these features.

Expanding Educational Resources

To help users fully leverage the tool we created, we plan to expand our educational resources. This includes tutorials, best practice guides, and case studies for new users, and advanced content for experienced marketers to refine their strategies.

Final Reflections

If you've stuck with me this long through our story, thank you! Reflecting on this journey, it’s clear that every challenge and setback helped shape our vision and refine our approach. From the initial frustrations to the detailed market research, every step has been a learning experience. We're excited about the future and committed to improving our platform constantly to meet the evolving needs of our users and potential users. If you have any questions or feedback at all, I’d love to hear it! Your insights and support mean a lot as my partner and I continue to grow and innovate.

2024.05.16 22:02 Electronic-Purple489 aitah for being angry abt my partners habits pt 2

I confront him as he’s asleep in bed. I urge him to wake up but he refuses to get up until my tone changes and once he’s up, i throw the vape at him and i ask him what it was and he claimed that it wasn’t his and that he swore up and down that it wasn’t his. i already knew he was fucking lying bc the dots were connecting and he tried to shift blame onto others who live in the home. (my mother and 3yr old sister live w me. my other siblings come over on their visitation weekend.) he deadass asked “are you sure it’s not anyone else’s?” and i almost wanted to rock him in his face right then and there because he is insinuating that either my mother started smoking again or my preteen brothers were to blame. and i immediately felt so disrespected because my mother struggled with quitting cigarettes for years and as for my siblings(13,11,11,3) they’re not the type of children to do that. i would know because i’ve practically raised them. I kept asking him over, and over, and over again till he admitted it. and i was lashing out crying and telling him to pack up everything. and i was crying on the rug on the floor. i just couldn’t hold in any tears. as he was packing i had asked him “is it genuinely not yours?” and he said “im telling you it’s not mine.” i asked him to then sit on the rug with me and i looked him straight in the eyes and said “i’ve given you multiple chances to come clean. i need you to come clean and i’ll even get you professional help if you want to seek it. i’m not gonna force someone whose gonna relapse again.” and he finally came clean. the amount of utter disrespect just came over me and i never in my life felt so defeated. i feel like this is constantly going to be the narrative because i genuinely don’t believe in him anymore. not one ounce in my body has any hope for him and i feel myself mentally clocking out already but i don’t want to. i don’t know anymore guys.

Hey all, these are some nice cameras that have served me well, but unfortunately they don’t fit well into my workflow or I have other cameras that I prefer. So its past due to get rid of them.
Fuji GFX 50r Kit Includes-
Camera Body- I’d say this is in what I’d call pretty dang good condition. Only issue is a small scratch on the lower left of the lcd. I included a photo in the Timestamp to highlight this. Other than that there’s some very very small nicks around the hotshoe and on the bottom of the camera from normal use. Comes with body cap. Shutter count is under 2k.
Two native Fuji batteries + charger
Two different thumbgrips
ViltroxEF-GFX adapter with autofocus capability
Fringr Nikon F Mount-GFX adapter (I’ve got some f Mount glass I’ll be putting up for sale here soon, if you’re interested let me know)
TTartisans M Mount-GFX adapter
Includes original box, and I’ve got some original boxes for some of the accessories too.
Price- $2000
FM2N- This camera is in great condition. It was just CLA'd earlier this year by United Camera in Rock Island, Illinois. They replaced the seals, adjusted some of the slow shutter speeds, and repaired the meter, as well as general CLA work. (The meter always worked but it would only shut off by timing out) This camera is ready to rip and should be good for years to come. No major flaws, has some light (yet aesthetically pleasing imo) brassing. The only thing to really note is that it doesn't have any protection over the viewfinder. So if you're a glasses wearer you should buy one of the rubber rings or eyecups. Im pretty sure B&H have them available for like $25.
Price- $350
AI Converted Nikkor 24mm f2.8- I love this lens. Probably my favorite Nikkor ive owned. But it is old. Definitely shows some wear and tear on the body. There is some dust and one larger piece of dust in one of the rear elements that is shown in the photos. I tested it on my gfx 50R and could not find any trace of it in the images. Included two images in the link taken with it.
Price-$50 or $25 with purchase of either of the cameras above.
Prices do not include shipping or PayPal fees. Shipping will be done CONUS via USPS. If you have any questions just shoot me a message!
I’m pretty motivated to sell these, so feel free to shoot me a reasonable offer.
Am looking to buy the following items soon, so I could be interested in a trade.
Nikon F100 (ugh why did I sell mine?) Nikkor AF-S 50mm 1.8g Nikkor AF-S 28mm 1.8g Nikkor AF 16mm 2.8 Fisheye

Unboxing

The Waizowl Cloud arrives in a beautifully designed package, offering a premium experience right from the start. The box features a side ribbon that, when pulled, opens the drawer to reveal the CLOUD neatly wrapped in a plastic bag. Upon removing the cloud and protective foam, you'll find a flat cardboard box containing the accessories. Inside this box, you'll discover the 1k Dongle, a USB C-A Adapter, a white paracord-style USB-C cable, an extra set of larger skates, red grip tips that are really nice I might add, and the user manual.
Additionally, I also purchased the 4k Dongle separately, which also arrived in an elegant white box. Upon opening it, you're greeted by the 4k Dongle, another extra paracord-style USB-C cable, and the user manuals. Overall, both products provide a very satisfying and premium unboxing experience.

Weight & Balance

The Cloud weighs in at 57 grams on my scale. I must say, I find the weight distribution of the Cloud to be spot-on, it feels perfectly balanced, with no noticeable leaning towards the front or rear when held from the middle. While a lighter version of the Cloud would have been appreciated, I'm impressed by how it doesn't feel heavy in hand, thanks to its well-balanced weight.
  • Cloud weighs 57 grams
  • Well-balanced weight distribution
  • Not heavy in hand due to balance

Shape

The Waizowl Cloud has a larger, ambidextrous design, which honestly made me a bit sceptical at first as somebody who prefers smaller mice. But when I actually held it, I was really surprised by how precise and comfortable the shape felt. It's got this narrower waist that makes it feel more compact in hand, almost like holding a pencil between your thumb and index finger. And when you click, giving you this nice pinch feeling that feels just right because of how low the click height is, which is something I really appreciate.
This low click height kind of flows through the whole shape, giving it this elegant slant from front to back. Even though it's a flat mouse, the slight hump towards the mid feels like it’s more mid-back focused than mid, and that really helps with getting a solid grip, especially when you're trying to nail those precise shots. It does lean towards a claw grip a bit, but I think it could work well with different grip styles, especially for people with larger hands.
Overall, I really liked the shape of the Cloud. It's comfortable, it feels great in hand, and I don't have any complaints about it. It's definitely a mouse that's well-designed and delivers a satisfying experience.
  • Initially skeptical due to larger, ambidextrous design
  • Surprised by the precise and comfortable shape
  • Narrow waist feels compact
  • Low click height and elegant slant from front to back
  • Mid-back focused hump aids in grip
  • Suitable for various grip styles, especially for larger hands
  • Comfortable, well-designed, and delivers a satisfying experience
I would recommend it for these specific grip styles and hand sizes.
  • Aggressive Claw: 18.5x9cm – 22x11cm
  • Relaxed Claw: 17x9cm – 22x10cm
  • Pincer Claw: 17.5x9cm – 21x10cm
  • Knuckle Claw: 17x9cm – Beyond
  • Fingertip: 20x10cm – Beyond
  • Relaxed Fingertip: 20x10cm – Beyond
  • Palm Grip: 16x7cm-19.5x10cm

Coating

The Cloud features a rubberized coating that, to be honest, is the best I've felt so far. I really appreciate how it maintains its grip even when my hands get sweaty it's impressive. However, I do want to mention that the coating does attract smudges and fingerprints quite easily, so it's a good idea to wipe it down regularly. This seems to be a common thing among rubberized-coated mice, though.
In terms of performance, the coating is excellent. Despite the fingerprint issue, I haven't felt the need to use the included grip tapes anytime soon. Speaking of which, the grip tapes are really nice, they have a cool design on them and offer a super grippy, textured feel.
  • Maintains grip even with sweaty hands
  • Attracts smudges and fingerprints easily
  • Excellent performance with the coating
  • Grip tapes included, offering a super grippy, textured feel
  • No immediate need to use grip tapes due to coating's performance

Build Quality

The build quality of the Cloud is top-notch, rivaling major brands and, in my opinion, surpassing many of them. With mice like the Cloud available, I find it hard to justify spending $150 on a mouse anymore. The quality of the Cloud is simply great there are no creaks, side flex, or any signs of cheapness. It feels really well-made, giving a premium quality that leaves me with zero complaints in this department.
  • Cloud's build quality surpasses major brands

Clicks

The Cloud features Huano Blue Shell Pink dot switches, which have become a staple in many gaming mice and happen to be some of my favorite switches. Their implementation in the Cloud is flawless, providing a satisfyingly crisp and tactile clicking experience. While there is a bit of pre and post-travel when clicking towards the front of the mouse, it's not significant enough to affect gameplay, and the clicks have minimal to no side-to-side play, making them feel incredibly solid.
One thing worth noting is that the clicks extend into the mouse, creating a slight lip on the front. If your grip style tends to be more towards the front end of the clicks, this might be something to consider, as it could affect your comfort during extended gaming sessions.
Overall, they offer a great tactile feel and responsiveness, making them a joy to use during gaming sessions and regular use.
  • Cloud features Huano Blue Shell Pink dot switches
  • Flawless implementation, crisp and tactile clicking experience
  • Minimal pre and post-travel, solid clicks
  • Clicks extend into the mouse, creating a slight lip on the front
  • Great tactile feel and responsiveness, enjoyable for gaming and regular use

Side buttons

The side buttons on the Cloud are positioned perfectly in my opinion, offering a really nice feeling with minimal pre and post-travel. However, there is a bit more post-travel on the rear side button, and it can slightly be pushed into the shell, although this isn't something I noticed until I specifically checked for it. Overall, they provide a really nice clicky and tactile experience that just adds to the overall premium feeling of the Cloud.
  • Side buttons positioned perfectly
  • Minimal pre and post-travel
  • Rear side button has slightly more post-travel
  • Clicky and tactile experience, contributing to the premium feel of the Cloud

Scroll wheel

The scroll wheel on the Cloud feels really nice and soft, with slightly defined steps. While I would have preferred the steps to be a tad bit more defined, it's not something to complain about. The scroll still feels great overall, and the scroll click is amazing, with the perfect amount of tensioning and being super spamable. Overall, It's definitely a great scroll wheel and I have no complaints.
  • Scroll wheel feels nice and soft

Bottom

On the bottom of the Cloud, there are two buttons: one for PR (Polling Rate) / Mode and the other for DPI / Power. Here's how they work:
PR / Mode: A short press switches Polling Rate Profiles, and a long press or holding it for 3 seconds allows you to switch between Bluetooth and 2.4GHz modes.
DPI / Power: A short press switches DPI Profiles, and a long press or holding it for 3 seconds switches the Cloud on and off.
I really appreciate functional buttons like these on mice, and the Cloud is so packed full of features that I barely needed to install the software.
  • Two buttons on the bottom of the Cloud
  • PR / Mode: Short press for Polling Rate, long press for mode switch
  • DPI / Power: Short press for DPI, long press for power switch
  • Functional buttons appreciated
  • Cloud packed with features, reducing software installation need
  • Barely needed to install software due to extensive features

Skates

The Cloud comes with two sets of skates: the smaller styled ones for a faster glide and another set of larger styled skates for more controlled experience. In terms of performance, I've only tested the smaller skates, and there's nothing to complain about. There is a bit of a break-in period, and they do open up a bit more, but they lean slightly towards the slower side overall. They're almost on par with Lamzu stock skates, just a tad bit slower and offering more control overall.
  • Cloud includes two sets of skates
  • Smaller skates for a faster glide
  • Larger skates for a more controlled experience
  • Break-in period, skates open up slightly
  • Skates lean towards slower side, more controlled
  • Almost on par with Lamzu stock skates, slightly slower and more controlled

Software

The software of the Cloud is quite similar to typical OEM Chinese mouse software, but it has an added touch of Waizowl flair. Overall, the software is good, it's loaded with plenty of features and is super easy to use and navigate. Whether you're setting DPI or configuring macros, everything is laid out in a straightforward and user-friendly manner.
  • Cloud's software: similar to OEM Chinese mouse software, with Waizowl flair
  • Good, feature-rich software
  • Straightforward layout for settings and configurations
  • User-friendly experience

Battery Life

The battery life on the Cloud is pretty average and there's nothing to complain about. On the 4k setting, I would get roughly between 3 and 4 days of use, and on the 2k polling, about 5-6 days. That was more than enough for my needs, and the Cloud charges quite fast, so the battery life is nothing to worry about.
I haven't tested the 1k polling battery life, but based on how long the 2k setting lasts, I would estimate that you would get about 8-10 days of solid use on 1k.
  • Cloud's battery life is average, no complaints
  • 4k setting: 3-4 days of use
  • 2k polling: 5-6 days of use
  • Battery life is sufficient for user's needs
  • Cloud charges quickly
  • 1k polling battery life estimated at 8-10 days of use

4k Performance

The 4k performance on the Cloud is solid, with nothing to complain about. I never experienced any stutters, disconnects, or disruptions, and the pairing process is super easy. You simply press the M1, M2, and M3 buttons together and plug in the 4k dongle, and you're paired—super easy, hassle-free, and great performance to top it all off.
  • Solid 4k performance
  • No stutters, disconnects, or disruptions
  • Easy pairing process
  • Hassle-free, easy pairing experience
  • Great overall performance

Personal Performance

The Cloud really surprised me with how well I performed in-game. I was skeptical about the larger size, as I usually prefer smaller mice, but the Cloud just nailed it for me. The narrower waist gives you pencil-like accuracy and makes it not feel as large in hand as you’d expect. It’s honestly really comfortable. The hump is positioned perfectly, being more center-rear focused, giving you enough in-hand maneuverability for micro adjustments. Although it is a bit large in the rear, I had to bump up my sensitivity a bit for more precise adjustments. Although the larger rear flare provides the support you need when pulling the Cloud back in hand for that locked-in feeling. Overall, I performed great in every scenario or game and felt confident in my aim while using the Cloud. I really enjoyed my time with it.
I must mention that due to the size of the Cloud, it does force me into an aggressive claw grip for my best performance, with my grip more to the rear of the mouse and clicking higher up on the M1 and M2, leaving a lot of room in the front. However, I can see a larger variety of grip styles working for it if you have hands larger than 18.5x10cm. And although I have a claw grip a smaller version would be great to take advantage of the lower click height, I can see a mini version of the Cloud shape being an endgame mouse, honestly.
  • Cloud's larger size surprised with great performance
  • Narrow waist for accuracy, doesn't feel large in hand
  • Hump and rear flare support maneuverability and locked-in feeling
  • Had to increase sensitivity for precise adjustments
  • Aggressive claw grip for best performance

Conclusion

Overall, I really enjoyed the Cloud and can see it being an endgame mouse. Honestly, it’s really hard to review products this good. I have almost zero complaints about the Cloud. The build quality is excellent, some of the best I have felt. The clicks, scroll wheel, and stock skates all feel great. The shape is legendary and feels great in hand, super comfortable for longer gaming sessions while still giving you the accuracy you desire.
The only thing I would do to improve the Cloud is to make a mini version so all hand sizes can experience this greatness. I can solidly recommend the Cloud to anyone with a claw grip and medium-sized hands or to those with larger hands using a variety of grips. Honestly, the Cloud is just that good and one of the top mice on the market currently.
  • Excellent build quality
  • Great clicks, scroll wheel, and stock skates
  • Legendary shape, comfortable and accurate
  • Recommendation for a mini version
  • Solid recommendation for users with claw grip and medium-sized hands, or larger hands with various grips
  • Cloud is among the top mice on the market
Pros:
  • Great build quality
  • Great shape for larger hands
  • Extra set of larger skate & grip tape included
  • Great sensor positioning
  • Grippy coating
  • Tactile clicks
  • Spammable Scroll wheel
  • Minimal pre and most travel on M1 and M2
  • Functional Bottom
Cons:
  • Can be to large for some people
  • A bit more post travel on M5 then I like
  • 4k dongle sold separately
  • Battery life on 4k isn’t the best
