Hi, just looking for advice for my bf - He signed a non-standard written lease and paid a $500 deposit to start June 1st, however the landlord notified him after signing that the unit is not available until July 1st because the current tenants wont vacate. Exact wording on the lease 'agreement' states: "$1655pm for a period of 12 months. in the event he loses his job or quits he will forfeit last months rent but must give the landlord 30 days notice & the $500 damage deposit. Rent will begin June 1st."
Landlord offered rent abatement and to stick him in a studio unit that he has on the property which bf reluctantly agreed to not knowing if he could get out of the lease. He now has a better offer lined up and wants to terminate this agreement without the landlord coming after him for liability. Can he just tell the landlord he wants to terminate the agreement because he can't take possession within 7 days of the contract start?

This is a game I tried to run in the past but unfortunately my execution was less than ideal. I am trying to learn from my mistakes and reboot it now.
Summary: You are a brand new freshman at a college in Lexington, Ky (USA) called Transylvania University! It is one of the oldest colleges in the United States, and located downtown. In addition to managing your school work and social life, strange and supernatural things have begun to happen around town, and you've been wrapped up into the center of it!
Some more details about the game: * Heavy focus on dialogue, investigation, and forming bonds with NPC's and fellow PC's. * Combat is rare, and getting into combat without preparation can be extremely dangerous. * Slice of life at first, but the tension and danger increases as the game goes on. * I don't normally do romance stuff. Since this is a college freshman setting, we can touch that subject a bit if it comes up. If you're looking for a dating sim, this isn't your game. But if romance stuff comes up naturally in a tasteful way, I'm not gonna necessarily block it out. That said, I'm not gonna ERP with you either lol.
About me: I am a semi-experienced GM. Have run a few Fate PBP games that have been fun and have run several live games as well. I prefer RP and storytelling over mechanics and combat. I like to let players control the flow of the story and go off script. I can handle parties that split up and don't mind running multiple scenes at once with different players.
About you (i.e. players I think would enjoy this game): You enjoy getting into your character and especially enjoy dialogue and meeting/ interacting with NPC's. You're not an "optimizer" and you aren't disheartened by things not going your way so long as the story is compelling. All in all, I think an interest in philosophy, religion, and/or mythology may make this game more enjoyable for you.
I tend to get pretty into my PBP games, so I will probably run this asynchronously most of the time as long as players are active, but I would also prefer players who can commit some time occasionally (probably every other week at most) to do a live to make sure we're moving at a good pace and all on the same page. I am in US Central Time. Since I want to do lives occasionally, it would be best if you are someone who can be available, occasionally, during evenings in US Central Time (especially on weekends).
Knowledge of the USA/ Lexington, Ky is not required, but I want this to be a game with a very minimal learning curve for lore, so if you're not familiar with Lexington, you'll need to play a character from somewhere else. That's just how I want to do things!
Knowledge of Fate is also not required. I'm happy to teach the system so long as you are willing to learn (actually willing to learn, if you're asking me how to do something I've already explained 5 times I'll think you aren't super interested in this).

Good evening to everyone on this sub, I’d like to start off by saying I apologize if I’ve put this in the wrong place, but I feel as though many people here will have much more life experience and wisdom than myself on this topic, so here goes nothing.
P.S. This is going to be long as fuck so I apologize in advance lol.
I’ll start this off by giving a brief profile: I am 17 years old and about to graduate in a few weeks. My last long-term relationship ran from March ‘22-August ‘22 and it was not until about four months ago that I decided I was “over it” (I speculate I may have held limerence towards that person as well). In that time I developed an addiction to weed (daily use started in July-ish) that still runs to this day, for a multitude of different reasons, that relationship included. I’ve experienced most of the negative side effects of that addiction, and although I am still dependent on it, I am in a much more manageable state than I once was (I was smoking 2-3 times a day as a junior in HS). In the time following me and that persons separation I felt lonely often and had a hard time being able to validate myself. It’s almost important to mention that my home life is not the smoothest that it’s ever been, and the combination of stress from that, school, and this big transition Im about to experience has taken a large toll on my life in the last 3 months or so.
So to my present situation. I met a girl at a birthday party my friend of mine was hosting (3 and a half months ago), and I quickly spotted her and decided I wanted to try and talk to her. Before even doing so, my friends mother and another friend of mine had encouraged me to talk to her because “we would be good together” (they both know her much better than me). To sum it up, it was not long before we ran off from the party, went on a long walk and talked for over an hour, and opting to go for ANOTHER shortly after, to which I kissed her for a long time. She had proclaimed that she sensed a real connection between us and seemed concerned about seeing me again, so I decided to keep things going because I had not felt this excited or connected to someone since my last partner. It’s important to note that she lives in a town about 35 minutes away, and I don’t currently have a car, so there is an obvious distance. The next week I went to her friends birthday party in her town and it went even better than the weekend prior, we once again separated ourselves from the party and got more intimate than the weekend prior. I ended up telling her a lot of the burdens in my life and it was the first time I had felt heard, you guessed it, since my previous partner. That night ended with more intimacy and her driving me home at 6 in the morning, and I thought about this night non-stop for probably 2 months. After that I was under the impression that we were seeing each other until she silently pulled away and I was unsure why. Radio silence for about a week. I was in the process of trying to accept this when we coincidentally ended up at a friends house at the same time and ended up talking things over (about 2 months after initially meeting her). Long story short, I forgave her and welcomed her back into my life. This is when the daydreaming of “what could be” and the perfect fantasy started again, except this time with a more positive outlook. About a week and a half later I called her and asked her to be my date to prom, which she happily agreed to. There was about 3 and a half weeks between then and my prom, which was this past Saturday. About 2 weeks ago she drunkenly called me and apologized for her pulling away and revealed how much it was bothering her, but I tried my best to reassure her that I had moved on and only saw that as a moment in time. The beginning part went well but rendered slightly awkward (I feel like mutual sobriety contributed to this), but the after party was when things took off. She told me that she wanted to go on another walk with me at some point that night, which made me happy because I knew what I was going to experience. This time was different than the first; there was an unspoken level of comfortablility she revealed only around me, and she told me how she wanted me to visit her in college and how she was disappointed we didn’t have the time to develop a relationship, and how long distance would probably be difficult. I asked her why she felt this level of comfortability with me, and she said it was because “she could tell I was a good person with only good intentions, and would never do anything to hurt her.” None of this was discussed extensively but rather we focused on trying to enjoy each others company, when I asked her if I could kiss her again. She told me that she wanted to ask but she felt anxious to or something like that. We spent a lot of time on that walk being intimate, into the rest of the party at my friend’s house at times we had unintentionally secluded ourselves (going to get another drink, etc). She stayed the night and I walked her to her car the next morning, and she told me she would see me again because she still has a sweatshirt of mine, I gave her a long hug and we went our separate ways. It’s important to note that she has admitted to being a bad texter, and that she did not believe in the superficiality of developing a relationship over Snapchat (our main form of communication), which is something I’ve aligned with since before meeting her. And we were both drunk 3 of the 4 times I saw her. I am also now realizing we don’t really address these moments in sobriety which raises concern to me. In the times between seeing her, we have small conversations here and there and Snap throughout the day. Needless to say, I still think a lot about what it would “be like” to be in a relationship with her and see her more often, and find myself disappointed when I don’t hear from her for a while. But at the smallest sign of validity, it entirely flips.
I want to know if this is something that I should address with her, as I want to have a manageable relationship with her in whatever aspect that may be. I also want to source more validation from other aspects of my life besides her. I already exercise about 4-5 times a week and that has kept me in line more than if I wasn’t, but I feel as though I need to do something about this directly in order to make progress. Again, I apologize for making this so fucking long lmao and if you read this all you are amazing. Any input, whether I want or don’t want to hear it, is fully welcomed.

pro-West party leader says they met PM Pashinyan and discussed a referendum to solidify Armenia's shift to EU

KHZMALYAN (European Party of Armenia): The referendum is our suggestion and demand. We presented it to Pashinyan and expect a response within a reasonable timeframe. We advised making a public statement soon. A referendum would also make Pashinyan's job easier by allowing the people's will to decide Armenia's direction.
REPORTER: How did Pashinyan respond?
KHZMALYAN: He suggested the meeting be held in a closed format so I can't reveal all details. We hope that our voice, our offer, our demand, was heard. If we do not receive a positive response, we will take measures by employing the same methods currently used by anti-European forces [the ongoing protests led by pro-Russian ex-regime]. We will take to the streets and demand a referendum for Eurointegration if necessary.
REPORTER: How long are you ready to wait before taking action?
KHZMALYAN: A few months. Georgia will hold parliamentary elections in October, and Moldova will hold a similar Eurointegration referendum - also in October. The U.S. will hold presidential elections in November which will be important for Armenia's future. Even if the worst scenario unfolds in all three countries, Armenia must stand firm and not take a step back. Armenia could become the leader in democracy in all of Eastern Europe if you consider the situation in Georgia, Hungary, and Slovakia [pro-Russia populist leader]. Armenia could receive an unprecedented level of assistance from Europe under those circumstances.
REPORTER: Did Pashinyan say he plans to leave CSTO?
KHZMALYAN: We did not demand specific dates but we urged him to complete all these processes this year, preferably by November.
REPORTER: Did Pashinyan agree?
KHZMALYAN: The participants of the meeting are under the impression that we were able to present convincing arguments but time will show what actions he takes. The government functions very poorly but nevertheless, they are doing something, they are taking steps.
REPORTER: On May 9, Bagrat Galstanyan gave Pashinyan 1 hour to resign but it's May 21 and he is still here. Why wasn't the opposition able to remove him?
KHZMALYAN: The 3 former presidents and their surrogate forces, backed by 30 years of power, were unable to bring forward a figurehead, a single ideology, that could win the hearts of the people. They used various political technologies, they switched between black and white robes, and they extended the 1 hour to 7 days, but none of that helped because the Armenian people hate them more than they hate Nikol Pashinyan.
REPORTER: You used to be a lot harsher on Pashinyan but something appears to have changed in your tone after your recent meeting with him. What is the reason?
KHZMALYAN: We were able to present our demands and the timelines to accomplish them. Unlike the archbishop and the former regimes surrounding him, we did not give "one hour" for Pashinyan to accept our demands; we did not make ultimatums. We believe the current government is carrying out and will carry out the will of the people to overcome the status of a Russian colony and join the ranks of free nations. We did and do see steps [taken by the government] towards this; we cannot ignore this. We saw the Strassbourg, but also Moscow. We saw the [April 5 meeting in] Brussels, but also [the recent meeting between FMs in] Almaty. We are told this is an attempt to "balance" and we understand where they are coming from, but our factions speak on behalf of over 60% of Armenians who view Russia's policies as deadly for Armenia. We expect concrete actions and we have formed a platform to continue this work; there will be petitions and other actions from us. We are ready to assist Pashinyan, who may be constrained due to ongoing negotiations, by being the public voice and saying the things he cannot say. We will continue to work, to pressure, to influence, to demand. Our meetings also continue abroad. We will press on until we reach our goal - the Eurointegration of Armenia. //

REPORTER: ... the "holy movement", by calling it a "pagan" movement. What is the ruling party's stance and do you discuss this internally?
ALEXANYAN: Of course we do, although I don't think Kocharyan's decision to name this movement "holy" is helping them. It's comical.
REPORTER: Do you have proof that Bagrat srbazan is [tied with Kocharyan]?
ALEXANYAN: Bagrat Galstanyan is surrounded by the entire political team of Robert Koharyan, he was a member of Kocharyan's 2022 protests and gave similar speeches he gives today, he received a praise from Russian propagandists, and he was named by a Russian propagandist Aram Gabrielyanov as a potential candidate for a new protest movement just a few months prior to these events, so it's beyond reasonable doubt that Bagrat Galstanyan is part of Kocharyan's team.
REPORTER: You were earlier accusing Galstanyan of being a Russian agent, and now Kocharyan's agent?
ALEXANYAN: Same thing.
REPORTER: The opposition gathered many thousands of supporters on May 9. What does the size of the crowd indicate?
ALEXANYAN: It was similar to Kocharyan's final rally before the 2021 elections. And?
REPORTER: The opposition created a video of "Pashinyan's lies" and broken promises. Will you respond?
ALEXANYAN: The clip itself is a lie and manipulation. For example, one of the supposed lies was Pashinyan's promise of an amnesty for overdue fines and penalties. You are a journalist, you tell me, was there an amnesty or not?
REPORTER: Pashinyan had also said that POWs could wait "just a few more months" and that he wouldn't "sacrifice Armenia's sovereignty" in exchange for bringing them back sooner. Why aren't they back?
ALEXANYAN: Dozens of POWs returned home in December, and efforts continue to bring back the rest. Literally 1-2 days before the POWs' return, the opposition claimed that the POWs were "forgotten" by the government. "Ոչ մի բան չեք անում:"

ALEXANYAN: There are efforts to return them as well.
REPORTER: Why did the police form a wall to block entry to village Kirants [for nonresidents]?
ALEXANYAN: I think the NSS said they had to take action to prevent interference with the border work. From what I can tell, the protest leader himself went there yesterday and returned only 15 minutes later so there wasn't a big desire to stay there apparently.
REPORTER: They plan to hold a big rally on May 26 where they might nominate Bagrat srbazan as the PM's candidate to replace Pashinyan.
ALEXANYAN: Why not go straight for [alleged narco baron] Mihran Poghosyan [who publicly praised the protests]?
REPORTER: There appears to be a consensus around Bagrat srbazan after a meeting between several forces.
ALEXANYAN: Consensus minus one, where "minus one" is the people. Or to be more precise, "minus two", because the Constitution also prohibits Bagrat from serving as a prime minister. Congratulations on an initiative that's dead on arrival. It's absurd. They suggested replacing the Constitution to allow a dual citizen to serve as PM. Okay... To get Canadian citizenship you have to take an oath to serve the best interests of Canada. To allow dual citizens to serve as PM in Armenia we have to accept for the PM to have loyalty towards another state. The alternative is for the candidate [Bagrat] to admit that his word [oath to Canada] wasn't worth a dime. Երևի մատերը խաչ արած ա երդվել։
REPORTER: But don't you think you are manipulating because Galstanyan received Canadian citizenship just to be able to serve in the church in Canada? He didn't go there to live or conduct business.
ALEXANYAN: It doesn't matter why he went to Canada. He is a citizen of Canada and took an oath. Even religious leaders with dual citizenship cannot become prime ministers. I don't have an issue with him being a dual citizen, but it limits his office options. He still hasn't renounced his Canadian citizenship even after all these talks about a possible nomination.
REPORTER: Galstanyan said he is ready to renounce it as soon as there is a need for it.
ALEXANYAN: In other words, he seeks "guarantees" that he will be the candidate in order to renounce it?

Armenia's Constitutional Court has a vacant seat. Pro-Russian opposition criticizes Pashinyan's ruling party for favoring a "George Soros-linked" judge who worked for U.S. State Department.

A Serj-era judge is leaving the Constitutional Court after receiving a job offer elsewhere so one seat is vacant. It is the judiciary's turn to nominate a CC judge, so hundreds of judges recently held a meeting and voted for Judge Balayan as their candidate. Balayan's father was a CC judge during Kocharyan's tenure. He was accused in the Wikileaks report of having inappropriate deals with President Kocharyan. Pashinyan's ruling party did not vote to approve Balayan. This led to a second gathering of hundreds of judges where they voted to nominate Judge Khachaturyan as their candidate. JUDICIARY REP: I presented parts of his professional activities available on the court's public platforms. You can ask the candidate directly.
OPPOSITION MP: The Soros Foundation publicly listed him as a member so I don't understand why it's being hidden now. In your opinion, how will his work at the Soros Foundation affect his impartiality?
JUDICIARY REP: The majority of judges chose him and it's up to Parliament whether to confirm or reject.
RULING MP: Was the voting held in a closed session or can you see how each judge voted?
JUDICIARY REP: It's a closed format. My duty here is to present the candidate. [basically, leave me alone I'm just doing my job]
RULING MP: Why not make the court voting and internal discussions more transparent for the public to see so we will have fewer conspiracy theories on why one judge was preferred over the other?
JUDICIARY REP: I share the view that it needs to be as public as possible but the majority of judges voted to keep the session closed to the press.
RULING MP: Just because the discussions and the vote were behind closed doors that doesn't mean it was anti-democratic, but still, it's better to publicize the process. We hope to see a change in this approach.
JUDICIARY REP: The ballot casting will always be secret and I think that's the right approach in order to allow judges to express themselves without constraints, but I agree that the discussions and speeches should be public. Either way whatever we discuss behind closed doors always reaches the press so in practice there isn't really a major transparency issue there.
CANDIDATE KHACHATURYAN: First, every part of my biography has always been public and part of public discussions. Second, I have always voted in favor of making internal discussions open to the press; it's the best way to avoid incorrect assumptions. Full speech here.

Everyone who was part of the Board had duties but it was not really an "employment". As for my simultaneous work with the U.S. Justice Department, there was no conflict with my membership or presidency at the Board because the latter was fully a public activity and we were only given a symbolic sum to compensate for our expenses; we are talking about less than $100/mo. I will let you be the judge regarding an agent of influence. There is a lot that's missing from my biography that read here [lists some boring constitutional research work, etc.].

Armenian lawyers went a strike on Tuesday to protest a bill that would move them from a turnover tax-based system to a VAT-based taxation

My girlfriend’s longtime friend is type I diabetic and he’s in psychosis. He might actually be bipolar but that doesn’t really matter. Also he has anosognosia. So naturally he is undiagnosed.
He has lost his state medical card and he’s running out of insulin. He’s already reusing needles and his stomach is jaundiced from it. He won’t do what needs to be done to get another card. He is clearly a danger to himself, but how does one prove it?
We actually had him living with us for 3 awful months at the beginning of 2023 after he lost his living situation and we eventually tried 5150ing him and it was a total disaster. Cops and social worker were beyond useless. The cops actually let him know he was legally entitled to keep living with us as we were trying to get him out and preferably to a doctor that could diagnose him. Eventually we realized it was a civil case if we kicked him out and we knew he didn’t have his shit together enough to sue us.
He can get his shit together in front of cops/social worker and deny having threatened suicide. He’ll still talk about the satanists who are coming after him because he’s the best rapper alive and the social worker will say “yep he’s clearly in psychosis, good luck with that” but apparently he has to be threatening suicide with a fucking powerpoint about how he’s gonna do it or holding a knife to someone’s neck right in front of them for them to 5150 him. At least that’s how it went in Davis, CA.
But when I search I see people saying they had someone 5150’d. How?????? Fucking how, dude?
Currently he lives in Oakland, in Alameda county. We are paying the rent at the single occupancy unit he’s staying in. That’s been going on for the past 5 months. Prior to that he was living in extended stay motels, switching to a new one after they kicked him out for one reason or another.
She tries to keep tabs on him every day but he’s responding to fewer and fewer of her messages. She’s tried contacting his endocrinologist who is the only doctor he actually trusts for help but because of HIPAA they won’t talk to her and just tell her to pound sand.
My girlfriend is worried he is going to die. She can’t sleep. She is waking up in the night worrying he is already dead from a simple miscalculation of insulin which is all it would take to kill him. She just had a nervous breakdown over it which is why I am writing this post.
The worse his psychosis gets, the worse he becomes at managing his diabetes.
We are desperate. What do we do? Do we lie and say he threatened to kill us? Would that even work? We would prefer not to do anything like that but the system makes it incredibly difficult to get help to someone with anosognosia, psychosis, significant intelligence, and the delusion that any doctor is “one of them.”
Just getting him a diagnosis would feel like a huge victory.

The Continental Phase (1233-1260)
Combat resumed in 1233 when an Orislan warship, while patrolling the straight between Orisla and Elshore, strayed too close to Elshorn coastal defense fleet and was destroyed (it is hotly debate if the ship was off course or was probing or scouting). This phase of the war took its name for the fighting that would consume much of Eoci.
Despite the close geographic proximity of Orisla and Elshore to one another, strategists of both nations concurred that direct attack would incur unacceptable losses, and instead they and their allies pursued other routes. The principle fronts on the continent ended up being the Tolmik Successor States in the west and Old Eoc in the east. Fighting also raged in Orisla and Elshore’s colonial holdings in Samosan, Devoni, and again in Ordivia, where Elshore landed an army to ally with the remnants of the native Ebirri Empire. The Century War thus became the world’s first truly global conflict.
The Continental Phase of the Century War caused a loss of life on a scale that had not been seen since the Great Dying. Thousands upon thousands of soldiers were killed in the fighting, and the civilian casualties were similarly high. Armies careened from battle to battle, ravaging the countryside for supplies. This phase of the war was also defined by revolutions in military technology. The flintlock rifle made its debut to terrifying effect, proving far more lethal than previous firearms. The power of flintlocks was such that quicksteel wielding knights struggled to withstand them, leading to revisions to drill and tactics that resulted in the first juggernauts. These new technologies and tactics were unevenly distributed as the conflict played out, often resulting in mismatched forces opposing one another.
The Continental Phase was nearly thirty years long, and in that time countless battles took place, punctuated by periods of disquiet and maneuver:

• The Tolmik Sucessor States saw some of the densest and fiercest fighting. Great armies of infantry collided on floodplains and in mountain valleys, invariably with devastating results for nearby settlements. One state, Catobl, changed hands fifteen different times as Orislan, Elshorn, Tolmik, and Beringian forces clashed over control of the region.
• The rolling fields in the south Old Eoc played host to numerous cavalry battles as both Beringia and Skrell attempted to traverse the plains in order to knock one another out of the war. The Beringian steppe horseman, descended from the Auroran empire of old, proved especially formidable on this front.
• The Serrations, a set of three Skrellish bastion forts on the border of Skrell and Old Eoc, were besieged for nearly a decade by Elshorn forces. The men of the forts endured near daily bombardments, and sometimes resorted to eating their own dead when resupply was unavailable.
• The north of Old Eoc and the Gaping Gulf were both subject to intense raids by warships.
• In Ordivia, Elshorn and Ebirri forces waged a guerrilla war to retake control of Great Tooth, striking suddenly before retreating into the jungle. Much of this campaign was organized by a knight named Caiseon, who would go on to have a later phase of the Century War named after him.
• In 1238, a rumor started that the king of Orisla had promised parts of Haepi to Tolmika in exchange for Tolmika’s support in the war, causing riots to brake out in several Haepian cities that were brutally suppressed by Orisla. The rumor was in fact true, though Orisla refuses to officially acknowledge it to this day.
• The bloodshed devastation caused by this phase of the war inspired several popular works of poetry and song, including “All Blood is Red,” and “The Little Widow”.
• On home fronts cross Eoci, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, and wives struggled to hold communities together as the death toll grew. Some turned deeply patriotic in the face of the war, while others prayed for peace.
• Queen Lariska of Beringia was one of the only heads of state to lead from the front. While she scored many personal victories, she was eventually fatally wounded in battle, which destabilized her nation.

The Continental Phase of the Century War ultimately ended with a second ceasefire in 1260. The door for peace was opened when the government of Beringia was overthrown by a coup after the death of their queen. The new government (which was tied to the southern steppe peoples) suggested that Beringia might drop out of the war. Elshore, unwilling to continue the fight without Beringia, proposed a truce with Orisla. In truth, almost none of the nations could continue fighting for much longer, as unrest grew at home and resources ran thin. But for the dishonor of having been the first to float peace, Elshore was made to agree to give up her overseas colonies.
After 27 years of conflict and countless lives lost, the Continental Phase of the Century War was over. It was the most intense warfare the region had ever seen. Few could imagine that even this carnage would be surpassed within their lifetimes.

To start, I reside in New Jersey, though I made the purchase from a dealership located in New York.
Over the weekend, I acquired a pre-owned vehicle from a used car dealership. I placed a down payment and arranged financing for the remainder. With all paperwork completed and signed, I've been enjoying driving my new vehicle over the past few days, pleased with my decision.
My vehicle financing, supported by my excellent credit score of 750+, is facilitated through one of the dealership's lenders, initially approved. However, this evening, I received a call from the salesman indicating an issue has arisen.
Initially, the dealership planned to execute a "hypothecation" to place the loan under my name while the vehicle would be registered and insured under my father's name, with me listed on his policy. Unfortunately, the bank rejected this approach due to my residence being outside the state.
The salesman presented me with two alternatives to retain the vehicle:
1) Have my father assume the loan in his name.
2) Secure my own insurance coverage and register the vehicle under my name to negate the need for hypothecation.
The first option is not feasible for me. While the second option is possible, I'm content with the favorable rates I currently enjoy under my father's insurance plan. Obtaining comparable rates independently seems unlikely.
I feel like something is off here and I should have some legal ground I can stand on here now that they are trying to change the terms after all the contracts have been signed.
Could someone with expertise shed light on this matter and advise me on the appropriate course of action?

I hope this letter finds you well. To begin, I was drawn to this topic through social media posts that shared dozens of records detailing the abuse and deaths of hundreds of children in these therapy programs. I have often wondered, how can these programs be allowed to cause this amount of trauma to teens and children? This inspired me to look deeper into the troubled teen industry and understand why paid “caregivers” have put so many in danger. If we want to protect the wellbeing of these teens, we must find a solution to regulating these industries. Without increased laws and regulations we continue to place America’s children into potential death traps. Now what is a wilderness therapy program? Wilderness therapy programs, on the surface, seem like a promising solution for troubled teens, offering a blend of nature immersion and psychiatric support. However, the roots of the troubled teen industry date back to the 1970s, with reports of abuse surfacing early on. Shockingly, despite decades of outcry and documentation of fatalities, political inertia persists, and federal oversight remains lacking. It is understandable that parents want their children to be happy, respectful, and well-mannered. However, in an attempt to do what is right for their struggling child, parents may turn to the troubled teen industry. Currently, according to the American Bar Association, there are thousands of teenagers in these programs within the U.S, programs that often induce trauma and abuse, even causing the deaths of their children. So, why do parents continue to put their children into these programs? Is the fear of losing the “perfect” family leading parents to enrolling their children into these troubled teens’ wilderness programs? So why do parents enroll their children in these awful facilities? Simple answer: manipulation. The troubled teen industry (TTI) often manipulates parents through a series of insidious tactics. For instance, leveraging fear by exaggerating the risks associated with a child's behavior and creating a sense of imminent danger. Isolation tactics further reinforce this urgency, convincing parents that the facility is their sole recourse. These industries hire workers framed as “education consultants” that utilize high-pressure sales strategies to exploit parental anxiety, and present their TTI program as the only viable option. In an article by USAtoday, reporters held interviews of parents and teens who experienced a TTI program at Evoke, a Utah facility. "I was just an anxious mom. I loved (Katelyn) to death," Tessie, Katelyn’s mom, says, "I was so desperate and desperately wanting to save my child from herself" (USAtoday). Programs offer promises of rapid transformation and they prey on parental desperation for quick, easy fixes. Emotional manipulation adds another layer, playing on a parents guilt and insecurity. By showcasing selective success stories and controlling information flow, they obscure potential risks and alternatives. Stigmatizing the child's behavior further pressures parents into compliance, painting their facility as the sole refuge from societal judgment. "’[Evoke] just made it seem like (she was) such a rotten kid and that she couldn't come home after the wilderness program,’ Tessie says, instead [Evoke suggested] Katelyn go to an aftercare program” (USAtoday). In this web of manipulation, parents often find themselves coerced into decisions they later regret, unaware of the nuanced realities obscured by these tactics. In an article from the “Cafemoms” blog titled My Daughter Was a Victim of the 'Troubled Teen' Industry & It Haunts Me to This Day, a mother recounts her perspective of the tactics used by Island View (IV) treatment center to send her sixteen year old daughter to their facilities. “We trusted the [education consultant] when he said IV was the best program in the country and the best fit for Colleen. What the [education consultant] didn’t tell us was that the reason so many IV grads did so well after graduation is because nearly all of them went straight from IV to another residential treatment”(Cafemoms). Despite this, there is still hope for change. Imprint News wrote an article that focused on recent protests and youth advocates who were pushing congress to introduce new laws. Specifically, they discussed the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act. A main advocacy group aiming at these lawmakers is Breaking Code Silence, a group dedicated to advocating for young people who had experienced harm in a youth treatment center (Imprint News). Their main goal is to pass a Bill of Rights for all children in youth treatment centers (Imprint News). The article also mentions that Breaking Code Silence wants children to have guaranteed protection from physical restraint and monitored phone calls. They further require that children are provided with all the basic necessities (Imprint News). Paris Hilton, a well-known celebrity, discussed in a Washington post article when she was 16 years old when she was taken from her home by two men. This was a result of her parents signing her up for a teen wilderness program (Hilton). Hilton describes that she was beaten and malnourished throughout her time at a Utah Facility. In October 2021, she partnered with Breaking Code Silence and pushed for a reform that was signed into law last April (Hilton). In Utah, it is now mandatory for treatment centers to document any time that staff used physical restraint (Hilton). Immediately following they have to submit these reports to the Utah Office of Licensing (Hilton). It also prohibits programs from sedating residents or using mechanical restraints, such as handcuffs and chains (Hilton). Therefore, this proves that reforms can be implemented and that it is important to continue the fight for more. Without regulations these programs can run rampant and place hundreds of children in danger. Continuing to protest, collaborate with government officials, and raise awareness can, and will, eventually stop the persistence of these programs. Enforcing reports and proper care through the law is the only way to give teens struggling with mental illnesses in these programs a fighting chance to recover. On the other hand, supporters of the troubled teen industry have used studies and research to prove the effectiveness of these programs, one example being RedCliff Ascent. RedCliff Ascent is a wilderness therapy program that claims the effectiveness of wilderness therapy. In 2005, this company hired a researcher to study families and adolescents 2 years after the program. The results found that over 90% of adolescents found wilderness therapy as effective and 83% of adolescents were doing better. In another study by Dr. Steve Aldana, it was found that 91.4% of children experienced clinically significant improvement six months post program. The counter argument presented by RedCliff Ascent is not only biased as the research was initiated from a wilderness therapy company, but they do not provide a sample size. This is important because when making conclusive statements such as “Over 90% of adolescents contacted perceived wilderness therapy as effective” they could be talking about six out of seven children or two hundred out of two hundred twenty (RedCliff Ascent). Through further research, the same results can be presented without the use of wilderness therapy. An article by the American Psychology Association (APA) titled “Better options for troubled teens” presents a series of studies and programs that was created to help adolescents. These programs focus on community-based activities, activities to help connect teenagers with their parents, and activities that align with the teens interests. This includes computer labs, dance studios, and machine shops. These programs have found significant success in decreasing the amount of juvenile offenders from 50% to 4% in an area of Connecticut (APA). It did this by helping teens take accountability and understand their actions. It utilized role play, writing assignments, and guided discussions between the teens. Overall, the troubled teen industry has caused abuse, trauma, and death to many children across the United States. It is a trap for children and a trick for desperate parents. Through the personal stories from teens and parents, reports of mistreatment, and protests it can easily be seen the impact and the importance of preventing this industry from expanding, instead increasing regulations and transparency to protect America’s children. To keep these children safe it is imperative that everyone works together to enact legislation. Your support matters to keep America’s children protected.

Welcome everyone!
I'm a relatively new DM who has had some very brief experience running as a DM during my highschool years and have recently become engrossed back in the world of DnD. I have been experimenting over the past several months with running a game with some old friends and have been having a blast, due to the long gaps between sessions I am setting up a second campaign alongside my homebrew world of Altaria!
The game is going to a traditional medieval fantasy/classic adventuring tale within the lands of Altaria, with a focus on political intrigue and consequences between kingdoms which can be influenced by the players and their actions. A focus will be on role play. I am continuously updating the lore of the world with new organisations and locations. For your commitment I will always try to create a handcrafted map or battlescene for the session.
I have 2 friends who are already keen to join and am looking for another 1 players to join along.
Session Outline
I plan on running a D&D campaign via a mix of Foundry VTT and discord. The sessions will run most likely every week, Due to my employment in emergency services my roster is constantly changing making setting a specific/regular session difficult and will require everyone to be slightly flexible.
I will try to have sessions set up every week or 2, most likely on Wednesdays or fridays, session start times ranging from ~1100-1700 AEST. Depending on everyone's availability. the Session length itself I am aiming for is ~4 hours with a break in between.
I am planning on having this be a long-term campaign if you do not believe you can commit please reconsider applying

World Setting/Description
Discovering Altaria, a continent veiled in mystery and allure, marked a pivotal moment for explorers from the old world. Millennia ago, these adventurers first set foot in what is now known as Wavecrest, but it was the fertile expanses of the mainland that truly captivated their ambitions. Cities and towns emerged along bustling trade routes, flourishing rapidly and soon overshadowing the initial settlement on Wavecrest. The burgeoning civilizations reached heights of prosperity previously unimaginable, until the world was shaken by the "Great Evanescence." Communication with the old world abruptly ceased; ships that set sail to reconnect vanished into the void, sparking fears of a catastrophic demise of the old continent or the wrath of divine or malevolent forces.
In the ensuing chaos, the Eldorian Empire rose to prominence, leveraging its control over fertile lands and the allegiance of migrating nobles and craftsmen to establish a new order. This era of uneasy peace, upheld by Eldoria's military dominance, persisted for centuries. Rules
18+ content is allowed within reason - Gore and NSWF are allowed. However, nothing extreme eg. sexual assault, rape etc.
No PVP, Exceptions depend on the situation and both parties must consent.
Be respectful towards myself and other players, Try to be a team player, do not steal or ruin the game for everyone else (that includes fudging roles)
No meta-gaming, please try to put yourself into the mind of your character. try not to yell out at other players during their turn.
Let me know if there is an issue, dont let it brew. whether it be from something I'm doing, or if it is another player. This is a game where we are all trying to have fun and I will try to make it the best I can.
Ultimately the rules are up to my discretion, I may make a decision in a situation that is not strictly allowed for either comedic value or for the fun of the game (TLDR Rule of Cool)
Please try to show up on time for our sessions, I know life can get in the way. If something does occur or you have another event please let me know beforehand. if you frequently do not show or respond I will take it as a sign of your disinterest and remove you from the party. I will give you fair warning before this occurs.
Know your characters abilities and how they work, if you are new again I can run through it with you before the session.
DEATH RULES - I am going to take inspiration from Critical role regarding death rules, if a character dies there is going to be a chance that they stay dead. They are able to be revived however it will be both an expensive and laborious process with a chance of failure! (remember retreat is always an option!)
I will not be fudging roles, I believe that the game becomes much more enjoyable if there is a chance of failure, creating suspense and risk.
RP will be a key element of the game, however you can't justify a blatantly evil action as "its what my character would do"
Pay attention when playing, I am putting extensive effort into creating this world and game for you, this includes in combat try to have your turn prepared before it reaches you.

I recently heard animal crossing has seized updates, is that true? If so I don’t understand why? There’s so many ways they can improve the game that have been stated multiple times I assume. I wanted to come and list some features that I never understood why they weren’t in the game in hopes that one day they’ll come back and fix them 🥹

1. Turning off the music!!! I know this is a big complaint across the board, but that’s precisely why I’m bringing it up again. If so many people complain and have asked for the change, then why have they not done it 😭 Please I’m begging ya’ll to make a feature where we can turn the music off. I want to enjoy the nature ambiance or actually be able to hear shooting stars 🙏🏻 I was going to state after the 600 hours I have in this game it gets very annoying, but I got annoyed by my 5th hour.
   
2. Crafting or purchasing in bulk. This one is self explanatory. The worst is crafting fish bait one by one. 🥲
   
3. Unique voice lines and personalities for some villagers. I understand there’s a ton of villagers and it would be hard to make them all unique, but at least for the very popular ones like Raymond, Marshall, etc; it would be nice if they acted different and said different things. Not a big complaint, but it’s my wish 🥹
   
4. This one is kind of nitpicking, but it would be nice if we could climb onto land from the rocks instead of just the sand. We seem quite strong since we’re able to uproot tree stumps and break rocks with shovels, so we definitely could pull ourselves up. Please!
   
5. A way to see where villagers are. Maybe just seeing them on the map or if they wanted to keep it like you’re hunting for them, then an option to ask another villager “have you seen ‘this villager’?” To which they can then give an area where they last saw them.

Bonus: I wish you could find random villagers visiting in the coffee shop at any time. I think it would be super cute if you could see villagers interacting with each other and sitting around in there.

The reason I'm being gang stalked is because I dated a horrific looking troll woman and was disgusted by it the entire time. I had to get inebriated in order to touch her because she was so absolutely gross in every way. Her mother couldn't wait to get rid of her that's why she gave her to me that night at the bar. This woman that I pity fucked was overweight, she stank horribly, her voice was shrill and horrible, she wasn't very intelligent, and she looked like a mixture of gargamel and Mac and me. Shit, even her hair was like plastic twine. She had no positive attributes. Not even her personality. I tried my best to treat her right but I did fail on multiple occasions because like I said in order to be even close to her in any way I had to be inebriated. I never hurt her physically but I was rude to her many times.
Well it just so happens that her family is involved in the military and some of our alphabet organization law enforcement. So to get revenge on me for being rude to that fat ugly disgusting person that I was forced to be with they are now gang stalking me.
I am a hard target which means I'm getting directed energy weapon abuse, touchless torture, mind games, dream invasions,mental readings and they have told me they are going to frame me for crimes I could never in a million years commit. You know, all that stuff. For the average person who is being gang stalked they will have no idea what I'm even talking about. But for most who are in my situation they will know exactly what I'm talking about.
I just want to say this to my gang stalkers. Listen very closely you worthless pieces of human shit. I do not fear you I have challenged you and you have backed down. This is because you are cowards. That is obvious in every way. You have committed treason against our country. When the American people find out what you are doing they will tear you apart. If you have a problem with me in some way and I have somehow broken the law in your stupid view then you should have went through the judicial system in order to handle that. But you did not. Instead you chose to take power from the American people and use it for your own ends. That means you have committed treason against the United States of America. You are disgusting people. Go fuck yourselves! I will never bow to you. I was a soldier.
