I apologise that I am going to come off as a dreamer and a newbie asking a dumb question.
I'm asking simply:
One thing I always think of in the early stage of my journey is the idea of having a life changing payout dangling in my face is I'd be stupid not to take but upon acquisition the geniuses and veterans that take it over and mould it into achieving it's best monetary potential make the figure I sold for look like peanuts. But if one can expect to feasibly retain some shares at least you'd later be able to sell them off upon significant further growth. Because if you really believe in the potential of your product despite selling for a sum it would be foolish to say no to based on risk of changes to landscape, competitors e.t.c you can still reap the benefits of the potential you created- even if you are no longer "at the helm of the ship".

There is the example of a chat site I used to love using called meebo, they were later bought out by facebook who then simply shut them down. But I often thought that for such a simple and well liked web chat site product if facebook really utilised them, the millions the meebo founders took in pay out could be compared to the product being worth so much more in the future and if the founders still had shares they could sleep well having the ability to sell a few more shares off as the product reached higher potential.

If anyone only has effort to link to resources or articles for someone willing to learn about these things, I'd still appreciate it but examples from real world experience would also be great. I understand if my question is only worth pointing in the right direction and I'm humble enough to be grateful for any help. I believe I will get there and hope to one day be in the position I can contribute to others success, I admire how much insightful and valuable info is shared here. I did a lot of searching but could not find the answer to my question though I admit I may not have known the right keywords to search the subreddit for.

Some might quibble over the inclusion of some of these but what's the difference between an instant messenger app (Google+), an instant email app (Wave), and an MMS messaging app, visually at least? I mean it's all messages coming from people that you've connected with in some way. Now someone might say, "Well, they've had so many solutions because there are so many ways to communicate: SMPP, SMS, MMS, RCS, etc., but Google has had products that mostly did everything, notably Google Talk, Google Hangouts, and now Google Chat. It really seems like if Google had just focused on one product like Apple did then it could have had something great by now. Or maybe Google should have been happy with a bifurcated messaging system like Facebook is with Messenger and WhatsApp. I don't know. But I think a little bit of focus on not throwing out the baby with the bathwater and on making something that's cross compatible with its different teams/products might have really been a boon for Google.
Edit: removed Google Latitude -- it communicates using SMS but apparently you can't include a message along with it
Further edit: removed Postini. Apparently it only made you have to load up a separate program to search older emails and didn't allow you to send replies to those emails once you loaded it. I'm not surprised that it eventually failed.

So, with Integrated Strategies completely closing in a day, I decided I'm going to do this, both for myself and for those lore hounds/flavor text junkies who either want an organized list or who didn't get a chance to unlock/look at everything before the event fully closes. I've looked around, and sites do have relic lists for the effects they provide, but not with the flavor text, a lot of which are just fluff but some of which are amusing or allude to significant things.
So, before the event goes away, I have compiled these things here for future viewing. Who knows? Maybe some things that are just fluff will be subtly important when connected to future events/Integrated Strategies relics. It's a spur of the moment thing, so if someone wants to put this in a format more easily digestible than an overly long table, feel free. For now, it is divided into four posts. Also, huge thanks to Biniko and his twitch chat for filling in the 11 relics still silhouetted in my list.

1	Ursus Big Bread	Squad Size Limit +1	Food from ursus with a strong, fermented taste. Quite sour.
2	Dried Cactus Chips	Squad Size Limit +1	This strange, dessicated plant doesn't look tasty at all, but the people of Bolívar often immerse it in water before drinking.
3	Dried Yucca Fruit	Squad Size Limit +1	The banana yucca is a fruit that grows in arid environments. It has an excellent taste and is easier to preserve after drying.
4	Caravan Boxed Meal	Squad Size Limit +2	This convenient meal sold by intercity Columbian caravans is deep fried, loaded with calories, and tastes great... but isn't very healthy.
5	Half Can of Sandworms	Squad Size Limit +2	"These chopped sandworms are soaked in olive oil and exude a natural fragrance!" That's just what the ads say, so don't take it at face value. Urgh...
6	Victorian Rations	Squad Size Limit +3	A former Victorian sergeant described this as such: "Huge portions, hard to wash down, but won't kill you."
7	Outdated Map	Deployment Limit +1	A worn and weathered map depicting the geographic features of the surrounding area, possibly with incorrect descriptions and unaccounted-for cliffs.
8	Monocular	Deployment Limit +1	This brass monocular is full of medieval flair, but you won't be able to see far with it.
9	Hologram Sandbox	Deployment Limit +2	A complete set of a strange sandbox hologram-projection terrain simulation device. For whatever reason, all living creatures are projected in a pink color. Don't touch the eye on the top of the box.
10	Sleeping Bag	Hope +4	A sleeping bag intended for use by one person. Two is doable, but a tight squeeze. Extremely inadvisable.
11	Tattered Tent	Hope +4	A tent thrown together using twigs and a tarp. Looks like it'll collapse the moment the wind blows. The materials were scrounged on the spot.
12	Large Sami "Candle"	Hope +4	*Find a log, cut four notches into it, and you've got yourself a practical temporary campfire. Only someone from Sami would call this thing a "candle."
13	Rabbit Hut	Hope +6	This Rim Billiton shed was quickly assembled using leftover industrial materials but is good enough to protect you from the elements. Having that said, the Cautus design is all too evident.
14	Noise Generator	Hope +8	Columbia's latest industrial product, commonly seen attached to mobile trailers in small- and medium-sized towns. Very cost-effective, but extremely loud. Way too loud.
15	Potted Pea Plant	Hope +2, Squad Size Limit +1	These quirky Columbian potted peas are suitable for decoration or for growing food. They may even have some other uses.
16	Gardening Harvest	Hope +2, Deployment Limit +1	Originally, this was probably just an ordinary potted plant for use in a public area, but after passing through the hands of Perfumer, Suzuran, and Flamebringer, it has become something a bit more... complex.
17	Charred Meat Skewer	Hope +4, Squad Size Limit +1	A mass of flesh and bone charred way beyond repair due to someone's woefully inadequate cooking. Pretty much looks like a murder weapon.
18	Compressed Sugar Cube	Hope +4, Squad Size Limit +1	Nobody knows just how this super-compressed foodstuff is produced. It is extremely hard and can even be used as a building material. More lethal than your typical failed cooking.
19	Crate of Explosive Building Materials	Hope +4, Deployment Limit +1	Rhodes Island's portable basic building materials kits are limited in quantity. If lost, please reapply for redistribution. Please assemble according to the instructions; otherwise, the heating pack may explode.
20	Exquisite Platter of Jewels	Hope +6, Squad Size Limit +2	The field of candidates for Sargon's next crown prince is always vast, which makes the annual city-state tributes a contentious matter. It's not just a matter of succession; deciding which of the myriad banquets to attend can also be troublesome.

Just like the title says, I'm trying to recall an old browser-based chat room client that I used to use when I was a kid, from somewhere between, I want to say 2005-2010.
I recall *some* features, but I've been on a Lot of different chat clients, and I can't be certain if I'm remembering ones from this particular site, but there are two I'm almost certain about: Room moderators could change the background image of their room, and maybe even fonts, most likely something to do with html editing. But I remember background images specifically, custom-uploaded images (in the case of the rooms I used to hang out in, it was mostly anime characters or wolves, lmao. Very apt for an internet-obsessed teenager from the mid-to-late 2000's)
The second one is the most distinguishing feature I can recall, and that was sound effects. There were all sorts of different sound effects, for getting PM's, new messages in rooms you were in, but the one that I can hear in my head almost as clear is day is the one that I think played when entering a room. It's also almost impossible to describe.
I want to say it was some kind of bell, or gong, maybe a drum??? Something wooden? This very distinct two-note thunk. I think the closest sound I could compare it to is the Law & Order sound (you know the one), but even that isn't very accurate.
Everything else that I even think I can remember is foggy and vague: Rooms were only up so long as at least one person was present, or maybe if the moderator had an active account, You could log in as a guest, Display names were specific to rooms, Rooms could be embedded into websites (maybe?)
I'm sorry for how much of a mess all this information is presented, but that's kind of how it all is in my head. It's been bugging me for a long time trying to recall this, and a lot of online searching to no avail. I've ruled out a lot of the popular clients at the time, and some of the less popular time. I think it was one of those ones with a weird name, but I know for sure it wasn't anything like Omegle, Meebo, Pidgin, Jabber, Trillian.
It's one of those things where I'm starting to feel crazy for not being able to find anything about it, so if you have any idea what I might be talking about, please let me know!!

Hi all! This is actually one of my first posts here on reddit. I’m on mobile, so I apologize for the formatting. I’ve been lurking for a little while, but so far I’ve been pretty shy about posting. I’ve been feeling pretty lonely lately and I feel like it’s time to put myself out there a little more. Years back, when my internet obsession first started, I remember making an account on Meebo (if anyone remembers that) and I still talk to a couple of friends I made through there. I’m hoping to find some people to keep in touch with in roughly the same manner. Although these aren’t chat rooms, from what I’ve seen, these threads are such a great way to reach out and meet new and like minded people. I live a pretty quiet life, alone with my two dogs. It’s nice, but fairly isolating and lately it feels like the few hobbies I have haven’t been keeping me stimulated enough to really enjoy them. I’m going through a rough patch in life and just trying to keep my sights on the path ahead. I enjoy drawing, writing (especially developing stories and characters with friends), and cooking/baking among other things. I’m open to trying new things and I’ve even started getting into photography. Sometimes an ideal night off is a night spent watching some Netflix with the dogs after making dinner and chatting with friends about storylines. Lately, I’ve found it’s difficult to find a place I fit in. I’ve been dealing with finding my identity and coming into my own as someone who is Bisexual, but uncertain about my identity. I have a very close friend whom I care about deeply, but she’s got some different priorities, so I don’t hear from her too often. It’s unfortunate, but we’ve all got lives and I’m certainly not her only friend. Unfortunately, although I have other friends, sometimes it seems like she really is my only one. Sometimes that happens! This is part of why I’d like to expand my horizons alongside the simple desire to meet new people and share the stories that make us all special and unique individuals.
This seems to have gotten long, so I’ll end it here. My name’s April. It’s a pleasure to meet you. :)

This is something I keep jumping around to different platforms on (I've used MSN, meebo, Pidgin, and currently Trillian) and I'm trying to find out if there's anything better out there I could be using. Basically, the things that are most important to me:
-The ability to use multiple accounts at the same time, meaning I could be talking on two or three accounts at once -Chat logs (I'm obsessive about having logs for stuff) -Ability to pick up and resume conversations on both my PC and my Android phone
Other things like ability for group conversations would be nice, but not necessarily necessary. So if anyone has any kind of recommendation, it would be awesome. Thank you. 🙂

This is my biggest interview and the one that I was the most hyped about. I don't think I've kept it a secret that I love the Thundercaps and support them. They have the hilarious Garg, the dank Tantrew, the chill BruceWayne, and the greatest O player in Crossover. Their B-Team is also filled with cool guys. Did you know that the Kitty Caps swept the eventual Buperball champs? Well, they could very well BE the Buperball and Nuperball champs this season. Watch out for them, these cats can bite.
1: Why did you guys pick Gargantua as your NPC Pick?
Tiger: Garg has been my TagPro bff4life ever since I joined competitive. He drafted me personally in Season 5, I drafted him in Season 6, so it only made sense to bring him back to the ThunderCaps for the comeback season. Tant and I also knew we needed to secure the best defender possible for our NPC pick, and getting Garg at a 30 TC value is just insane. We got the best defender in the league for dirt cheap.
Tantrew: Gargantua is the best defender in NLTP. Look at his prevent stats. We figured out what he was capable of before the season started. Also tiger and him have some sort of weird AF relationship that may or may not be sexual.
2: Explain to me what each member of your A-Team does. How does each player contribute?
Tiger: Crossover caps, Gargantua and BruceWayne keep the flag in base and get returns and stuff, and tantrew talks about stuff I guess. Gets some pups or something.
Tantrew: Crossover contributes by making the defenders look like paralyzed turtles that try to tag him but simply can't compete on the same level as himself. It's no surprise he's the league leader in caps considering how weak defenders are comparatively to crossover. Mr.T contributes by not getting in garg's way. Garg contributes by drinking enough alcohol for the 4 of us every night and feasting on grabby fc's. Tantrew is still the UberMensch, though I still haven't read Nietzche so I have no idea what that means. We are literally the ThunderCrossovers at this point. Under Megatron's tutelage, I have been able to craft a mini-megatron to play O with me. Don't be surprised if it comes out that crossover is actually an Asian attending Harvard.
Gargantua: For offense, Crossover is our flashy/highly aggressive offender. He does what he can to wear down opposing defenses and demoralize them completely given the opportunity. The man doesn't have to juke you for days, just one quick move to the right/left/up/down and hes gone baby! Mans got a tan so dark you'd think he sees nuthin but daylight.
All of what Crossover does allows Tantrew to play smart, slow and concise offense. He's always trying to play intelligently and do what's best for everyone, not just offense themselves. That's not to say that Crossover isn't a smart player, he just comes into base so damn fast that he doesn't even have a chance to comm it. In reality, Tantrew is our in-game leader. He doesn't even have to be good, as long as he tells us what to do and when to do it, we'll be aight.
And that leaves Brucey. My one and only. He's just such a darn good partner for me. We trust each other to get solos, blocks, etc. It's not always perfect and it doesn't always work out but we never get angry with one another. We know that there will always be a next time to get things right, which we normally do. People may see Bruce as getting carried but if you look at his stats, he's right up there with me, just less minutes. I'm not making Bruce great. Bruce is in equal parts making our defense the best in this league.
3: Explain to me what each member of your B-Team does. How does each player contribute?
Tiger: Juke Dough, FURY., and Djinni are all capable of very long holds and can pull off dank caps. Jerry. and Koogon were moreso my supportive types who can support their partner and teammates and do whatever it takes to win. They were all wildly valuable to the team. On defense, everyone just kind of gets the job done. Kitten Panda is a good field commander, Kornbeef also fills that role well while adding in D caps. Dick Bob and bad hombre are late round picks who have provided high prevent halves all season.
Tantrew: Kornbeef is the back bone of our B team. I don't know why; he just wanted me to say that. Juke dough's back probably hurts the most considering how many caps he needed to score to get us to where we are. Bad Hombre is probably a smurf considering his ridiculously high PPM but I'm not gonna question it. His PPM fell a bit when he went back to school, so I hope he drops out or goes back home when playoffs start. Picked up dick bob because of his voice. Also he puts up high prevent sometimes. Kitten panda is nice but he doesn't share pics of his wife so idk how valuable he actually is to the team. Picked up Jerry so I could have a CRC buddy in ELTP. Koogon is ok but I mostly like him for his yoyo videos. If any of you guys are YoYo hypemen, take a look at my boy koogon. Djinni has nice jukes but really we picked him up for his voice too. Very silky and reminds me of Jbb's butt (firm but gentle). Also Shardik was cool even though hockey was his favorite sport. Hopefully I converted him into a Rockets fan. tpk was a great player and definitely deserves credit for our nuperball run. We melted away fury's bad habits that he learned from S5 and molded him into an all star in just 2 weeks. He goes for montage plays which creates hype for the rest of our team. And if anyone finds nilus, please return him to our team. We miss him dearly and just want to make sure he's safe :(
As for skill, I guess they all bring something to the table.
Gargantua: Unfortunately I haven't watched our b-team much until this later half of the season (last 3-4 games). Without going into crazy detail (we have so many players) each player does both positions well. Almost anyone on our b-team can cap with ease and pretty much everyone can be trusted to get key-returns and play a little Defense if they need to.
I think that's why our b-team is sitting at #1. B-team games can be rife with chaos, players constantly out of position and such, and everyone of our guys can play effective in any situation. So we're essentially never caught off guard.
4: Which team had the easiest schedule? Which team had the hardest schedule?
Tiger: Whoever played in the Central Division, probably. ICP S7 had the hardest schedule.
Tantrew: I don't know cause we're 1st seed. I think ICP is a pretender though. TC/ABO/TTAN with Anze are the only real contenders.
Gargantua: Unfortunately I don't pay much attention to anyone but us. I once did hear Sir Cle say he wish he was in our division but that didn't make much sense considering there's us and Tyle Boyz in it. But SirCles dumb so idk. (Editor's Note: SAVAGE)
5: Who was the most surprising player on your roster? In the league?
Tiger: I wouldn't say anyone on my roster surprised me, they mostly just confused me in many ways.
Tantrew: Most surprising player on our team was kornbeef. He looks like neil patrick harris and I didn't expect that.
Most surprising player in the league was probably phreak. Lots of salty comments about other team/player's success but at least he was able to be the best offender who belongs in NLTP.
Gargantua: On our team, it's undoubtedly Djinni. Dude ain't even a pub star. To paint the picture, it was late in the draft, Tiger and I were kind of scrambling around looking into players stats before our pick and we noticed this rando Djinni who had 59-60% win percentage. Not great by any means but hey, pretty good for a nobody (sorry for saying that). The season moves along, Djinni clearly doesn't know many strats but his moves man. Some of the things this man can pull out of his ass is ass-tonishing. Djinni with the jukes, I sing sometimes to the tune of Bennie and the Jets... He's also a no-mic. Djinni still has a lot left to learn and his game-sense still needs improving but all of that will come with time. With a mic and a little more dedication, I could foresee Djinni sweeping into a-team halfway through next season.
As for the rest of the league... I have no clue.
6: Your A-Team plays The Aristocaps, how are you preparing for that matchup?
Tiger: Watching the Super Bowl. Learning how to be an evil empire isn't easy, but this is the first step. Me and the boys gotta learn from the best of the best when it comes to crushing the soul of the nation. (Editor's Note: I hate the Super Bowl go away)
Tantrew: Not really gonna prepare. I've won 7 straight playoff series on aggregate. Probably gonna do the same here.
Gargantua: Just doing what we always do. Practicing like a mofo. Ain't no rest for the wicked. I know a few of us watch game-tape in our free time as well.
7: Your B-Team plays The Cosmic Lattes (PCC) , how are you helping your B-team prepare for that matchup?
Tiger: Just telling them to get returns, get pups, stay ahead, stuff like that. Play a bit of anti, ya know. You can't see the Book of Secret Strats tho.
Tantrew: Lots of finger pushups and obstacle courses to keep their fingers nimble and non-beefy.
Gargantua: See above answer.
8: Who do you want to win the Nuperball, if you guys don't win it?
Tiger: I don't understand the question.
Tantrew: This is a pretty stupid question considering I don't see a world where we lose the Nuperball with this lineup.
Gargantua: Whoever our opponent is in the Nuperball. If they beat us then they're obviously the better, more deserving team.
9: Who do you want to win the Buperball, if you guys don't win it?
Tiger: Which team has the minors player?
Tantrew: SVB. Chelsea has been a victim of cancerous comments for too long and it's nice to see a success story :)
Gargantua: Whoever our opponent is in the Buperball. If they beat us then they're obviously the better, more deserving team.
10: What was your most memorable moment from the season as a whole?
Tiger: Probably the moment at the end when we realized we had clinched both #1 Seeds. We had accepted being the #2 Seed on B-Team until jbaay came waddling along with his accurate standings. We had a party where all NLTP Season 8 #1 Seeds were invited, but it was just a regular practice meeting for us.
Tantrew: Nothing really stood out. just another nuperball run, like my old ones.
Gargantua: I suffer from recency bias but when jerry was trying to say something a few nights ago and... I think it was jukedough.. kept interrupting with "scrim" or something like that everytime jerry started a sentence. It was so darn funny. Kittenpanda... I think it was... had just gotten back from being afk so he was dumbfounded, laughin... idk. Had to be there. (Editor's Note: I was :D)
There's been loads of good moments. I've laughed a lot this season and that's how I usually gauge a good season. Good times with good people and all that. Even the groupme has been a blast.

I have been making great use of chat services since the days of Telnet and AIM. I used to use Meebo as a chat aggregator until google bought it out and shut it down. Now, I have been using Pidgin to funnel Facebook, GTalk, Slack, and more into one place. But now that Facebook and Google are trying to remove XMPP support, what new protocol/medium should I switch to and convince others to adopt? This private chat service thing needs to end.

I'm not sure if this is "tech support" in the truest sense, but minimizing instead of closing when the X button is pressed is an absolute dealbreaker for me. It's the one program pet peeve I absolutely can not put up with.
Is there an option buried anywhere to have Skype close with the X? Is there some sort of 'mod' I can get to make Skype close with the X? Alternatively, is there a separate service (like Meebo) that will allow me to log in with my Skype account and message my Skype contacts that will close with the X button? I don't need video or voice chat, just text.
