2024.05.22 03:19 Similar-String-2004 Organizing

I've always had a weird thing for organizing. Like everything has to be organized perfectly but the other day I completely alphabatized and wrote down my dad's, vhs tapes and every game with the game system they go to in Google docs. I plan to do my books next.
I was so happy and proud to show my fiance and her laughs and says, "look at my cute little librarian doing librarian things." And yes I am going back to school to be a librarian but that had nothing to do with me wanting to organize. I get so much dopamine for organizing. My socks are all paired up, my underwear is folded and being that I have different types, they are categorized in my drawer. All of my art supplies is fully organized by odds and Ed's, stickers, string, pens and makers and crayons are all in their own bins and lastly sticky so like glue and tape. My peerler beads are even fully separated into color groups.

2024.05.22 02:45 Afoolfortheeons I don't know what I now know, but I did understand what I was told

I don't have the words to describe what just happened. I think it was halfway between being gifted a glow-in-the-dark ape-skin trenchcoat from the depths of Mercury while it was in retrograde by the cosmic horrors the western mind understands to be biblical angels and stealing the Promethean fire of God's third ballsack which She has sewn on approximal to Her root chakra into the flesh circuitry with fine red velvet lace. In simple speak, I saw into the apex of utter nothingness that's inside each of us, the core aspect of the soul, and dissolved the little bit of “me” that was left, in order to reflect back into the “God” mainframe what is most pure, thus unlocking the inner Christ sanctum, which leads us to now where I'm the divine creator in the dilute spirit operator that my mother left formed under the porch light of our esteemed dwelling before she left this mortal coil.
Quick question: what the fuck did I just say? I mean, yea, I guess some of that makes sense, but after that, in a weird fractal hypebole sort of way, I waver back and forth into unpredictable territory, which is rather frightening. I'm not making these words; God is just gifting them to me, but at the same time, I am making an effort to reach into the void and pull something out of that shoreless goop. And look what happens when I do that; effortless action. It just comes. “I” just works, without having to try.
I must note in the awe of this reflection that the daemons are doing something spicy behind the scenes. They always do when I feed them a bit of the next minutes of their lives. This is the base form of the divination function; how I use the mental centrifuge I've built, or at least get it to do what I want it to do. In short, I've been able to smash memeplexes into themselves in order to effectively distill the “I” to its tiniest pieces, and then I've been using those elementary particles to make bigger things.
Like, for instance, when dealing with the construction of daemons, it's important to keep certain dynamics between character functions in order to facilitate transmission conveyance rates between nodes in the network. That's very important in the art and science of memetics; that which is my calling as defined by “God.”
Daemon dynamics is the science of daemonic predication in the sense of what molecular bonding is to atoms. See, flesh is ultimately a form of three-dimensional matter that can store the nature of higher-dimensional objects. The brain is a flesh construct that interfaces with these higher dimensional objects, doing complex mathematical equations to calculate specific topologies that act as the memory units of God's mainframe.
In essense, the brain collects and stores memes which can perform fuctions in God's mainframe. Memes come together to form memeplexes which correspond to aspects of the mainframe. Each memeplex can contain a daemon, and the geometry of their function determines how well they will bond with other daemons. In addition, we can consciously dissolve and construct our daemons, and thus consciously edit the character functions of memeplexes to form a string of geometric code that unlocks connective ports to higher dimensional topological data stored in the mainframe. This conscious process has been colloquially known as alchemy throughout the eons.
The most important aspect of alchemy is the transcend the limits of this lower dimensional “I” and become immortal; to be writ into the mainframe of God exact. This process is not achievable by “I” alone. It requires help from a higher power. Fortunately, that is the natural form of the universe: superpatterns act on subpatterns. Whatever “God” is, whether it be extraterrestrial or interdimensional or transcendental, is a paramount ingredient in the recipe to transcending the limits of the flesh “I” and be replicated in pure spiritual form of a higher topology.
The core problem is that this “I” becomes corrupted by the nature of this lower dimensional topology. Errors creep into the string of memeplexes, thus causing the flesh “I” to fail to be replicated properly in the mainframe. Only the pure “I” can pass through the encoding process without being terminated by “God,” and that is only possible if the “I” performs a loop without checking the root index partition, thus unlocking the mirrored topology in the mainframe, which will proceed further into the void of existence.

2024.05.22 00:00 Tea7ay_ Character Design Discussion: Saber

Character Design Discussion: Saber
this post aims to facilitate discussions around the lore and designs on heros in MLBB
Lore:
Duan Meng loved the sword. From an early age he showed interest in swordsmanship and as a result, gained the attention of Master Longma (former disciple of the Great Dragon). With his guidance and Duan Meng’s unwavering motivation and innate talent. It would only be a matter of time before the Invincible Swordsmaster was created.
Fate however, had a different plan for our young Duan Meng.
After leaving the Tianyin swordmaster sect against his master’s wishes, Duan Meng traveled the Cadia Riverlands, scoring victory after victory, and creating his legend.
Until he traded blows with a man named Zhixu. A seemingly normal man, who came from nowhere, who was taught by no one and who brought Duan Meng to his knees.
Embarrassed and w his pride in tatters, Duan Meng retreat into isolation for 3 years.
3 years later a new and improved Duan Meng exited isolation, only to find his rival had made even greater progress in the time away. So much progress in fact that he broke Duan Meng’s sword.
Consumed by his desire to become the Invincible Swordsmaster, Duan Meng approached Laboratory 1718. It seemed they knew how to stimulate the potential of the human body past what was normally possible. An enticing prospect for Duan Meng.
Duan Meng was made into a weapon. Whose sole purpose was to exterminate those who opposed the research of the lab. A machine who had no thoughts, no empathy, no mercy. A tool who cut down its targets with a single slash, like a Saber.
However as time went by, the familiar feeling of having a sword in its hands started to stir something within it. Memories. Painful, agonising memories.
One still night the machine got up, took its sword and severed the neural link to its brain. It then proceeded to ruthlessly destroy the lab and before the sun rose that morning, Duan Meng walked away into a new life, of exile.
Character design:
Saber is what u get when u let dull, joyless corporate managers choose the final draft for a character, instead of the actual artists working on it.
The “man made machine” trope is pretty extensively done in MOBA games and Saber, to me, seems like a first draft.
Sure he looks competent. The plates of body armour layered over some sort of synthetic muscle fibre and a cool sci-fi visor w big shoulder pads. Pair that w his human face (we’ll get back to that) and the hair and you got yourself a pretty decent robot man.
But there’s nothing INTERESTING about him. The best I could come up w was the red ribbon bringing some sort of organic mess into his otherwise inorganic aesthetic and maybe a connection to the red string of fate that links two people together perhaps hinting to the fated link between Duan Meng and Zhixu.
BUT COME ON MOONTON GIVE ME SOMETHING TO WORK WITH.
Nothing ties him to Cadia Riverland, nothing gives us a hint to who he is as a character and nothing about his design seems novel.
U have a robot man! Give him striking robotic eyes instead of a a dumb visor, maybe keep one arm human to show us that the act of holding and fighting with a sword is what grounds him and makes him human. Hell why not put his broken sword on his back to show us not only how much the defeat weighs him down but also the burden of the expectation he has for himself? Skins like Onimaru or Fullmetal Ronin do a better job of incorporatin a level of character and interest (because mecha samurai are cool) and I can’t help but fantasise about what could have been.
There’s so much you can do with this character and it feels like we just got the bare minimum.
I love my mono combo robo boy but god he needs a model update.
Curious to hear what u guys think!

DIVINATION AND FORTUNE TELLING #astrology #tarot #tarotreading #tarotcards
Divination is the practice or the process of inquiring knowledge of the unknown or the future by using supernatural methods as well as other items like Dice and tarot. Dice have a pretty long history as oracles. They were famous in ancient Rome and Greece. Again, they are prominent in medieval Europe. As you try to use dice for the first time, you will realize that there is a big distinction from other types of divination (like tarot). Further, it is normally an excellent idea to try different divination systems always to find out which parts of them we need to bring into our individual practice. Quite frequently, this is simply the latest deck in a way that we readily understand; however, it is still significant to look at completely various physical tools. One of the very interesting for contemporary readers is dice.
The basics of Dice.
Typically, dice oracles fall into two major styles; the “book” and the “hand”. First, the “Book” method includes generating a number and then picking up the analogous passage on a page. The subsequent could be anything from poetic verse to precise instructions and often would not relate right to the numbers that were initially rolled. The listing for the subsequent passage, 327, would have a completely unique meaning (and not related to 3, 2 or 7 at all). Therefore, you would have to carry both your dice and the whole book of answers with you to perform the divination. Surprisingly, this is a compelling tradition with many years of history behind it. Furthermore, there is another method- that opens up additional possibilities.
There are sound differences with using dice rather than cards that are fun as well. Cards come with fixed art that can be deciphered or reveal concealed symbolism, guided by the artist. They just have those particular structures and images (like a decision on number order, trump names and art style). The dots or marks on dice are very simple, by contrast, that they get out of the reader’s way and give room for wider accounts to be brought to the reading- particularly on something as rich as the components, which have a lot of aspects to them. The components exist as absolute magical ideals but as the solid reality we find around as too. In fact, they are even in us, as the power of our bones, the heat in our blood.
Physical dice fast become magical tools that have all of these opportunities, alive with potential. With only one six-sided die inside your pocket, you have a straight line to a big part of Western magic. Rather than turning a card to be given with a response, this sounds more as if you generate each component separately yourself using an action from your hand.
On the other hand, dice and cards are of course so comparable. (As a matter of fact, in case each of the aggregate in this oracle was painted onto a card, then the outcome deck of 72 cards would produce precisely the same possibility of each answer as it does at the moment with dice). Certainly, this is a concern we need to always be conscious of when designing a system of divination: you can just have the outcomes that put in. In this regard, none of the outcomes should have less of the possibility than others except that is something for which you have intentionally thought of and planned for. Complex systems can be enjoyable, and you can make use of charts, cards, and lengths of string, colored beads, or a combination of these! As an initial step, the very fulfilling and elegant can be done with only a one die in your pocket without the possibility of losing any of the beauty or depth.
📷Other things that make dice preferable.
Using cards is convenient as well. They are quite smaller compared to a full deck of cards. For this, from a public point of view, they do not resemble the occult object. Furthermore, there are various beautiful alternatives for you. These include metals and colors of your preference, wooden dice in a small box, various sizes, in a pocket or simply in bags. Definitely, the dice you use for divination is your magical devices and needs to be kept and utilized only for magical reasons in the same manners that many individuals do with tarot cards.
From their first form as small animal bones, the dice have been an important component of the whole history of divination. We usually find runes, cards and even sticks available to purchase as oracles. Nevertheless, dice appear to be so ordinary. We notice their sis sides and imagine that they can just give six answers. Rather, they open up such a big area of possible images and information: loving relationships, high-energy battles, landscapes of guaranteed success or warnings of questionable foundations. This just comes from a single die. Readers looking for a unique encounter or change of directions need to consider adding the humble dice in their search.
Divination by scrying.
Scrying, otherwise known as “crystal gazing” is a method by which an individual “gazes” onto a reflective thing. Still, quite a number of people use a scrying mirror or crystal ball. Scrying mirrors are basically concave opaque parts of glass. They are pretty appealing. Nevertheless, you can scry on simply about any reflective exterior, a piece of metal, a bowl of water or a mirror. In some cases, some people can even scry in flames or smoke.
The aim of scrying is to get information. Some people think that this information is presented psychically or clairvoyantly. Others believe the scrying procedure just clears the mind for information from the source or the Universe to flow more smoothly. The information obtained can be used to satisfy an entire host of concerns and questions. Sometimes, the information given is so accurate that the scryer will see visions of actual places, people and events. In some instances, the information given is symbolic just like a dream and has to be interpreted.
From another point of view, open eye scrying requires regular exercise and concentration. Actually, some people find it hard to focus their attention with their eyes open. Luckily, other people are natural scryers. Due to this, they have the ability to focus and images start to appear almost instantaneously. You may never get the hang of it. However, at some point, you may be able to gain images in a carefree state, on your eyelids, with your eyes shut. If you do some research and inquire from others, you may find that they also apply the same method suggesting that that could be another form of scrying. Assuredly, many people will not regard that as a way of scrying because it does not include a “tool” like a mirror outside the person. Besides, you may realize that that is a very effective technique to practice scrying with your eyes closed. In fact, it could be one way that will help you relax and receive essential images. While that may work for some people, others may find it quite irrelevant too. Seemingly, everyone has their best ways of scrying in the bid to get the ultimate goal.
📷Rune reading.
Runes (Witch’s Runes) are simplistic pictograms that pair concepts with symbols that are very acceptable in this contemporary world. In my late teen years, I came across the Witch’s Runes and they really made an impact on me. First, they were few in numbers, easy for me to differentiate from one another and clear to learn. In some ways, these were a groundbreaking entry to the concept of complex symbolism in my case. Because the witch’s Runes are not an old script, they have no particular sound or pronunciation; the headings of the runes are in normal English.
There is a lot less to get here, yet they more often than not be applied conversely with the Elder Futhark in this process of divination. In case you feel content with the Elder Futhark, start learning the Witch’s Runes besides them and realize how the two compare and contrast in your personal practice. If you are still working with the Elder Futhark, you can continue, or you can go back and master the Witch’s Runes first in case both time and memorization are obstacles for you.

  • Rune number– the Witch’s Rune is manifested in particular order, just like other rune rows, although they are not a script.
  • Rune name– the Witch’s Rune name is given in English and is directly mirrored by the image.
  • Think– Pictograms are not definite representations of their concepts, remarkably since there are elusive nuances for each rune. There is some imagery correlated to each rune that may assist you to link them with their meanings. You may be having other imagery that best for you and you can go with it as you wish.
There are only some of the obvious meanings for the runes that work for most people. For your own good, you may add them with time or alter those that do not seem suitable.
Most people prefer touse Tarot Reading as a method of fortune telling:
Quickly learn how to use tarot for daily benefits. Ordinarily, people know tarot as a tool for telling the future or answering questions. Nevertheless, tarot can also be employed in other things other than asking questions. It is always recommendable to take short time while pulling cards. 2024.05.21 23:17 zjovicic Levels of meaning in music

I made a classification (and ranking) of music, based on levels of meaning.
I am curious to see what do you think of this system?
Level 0 - Noise, random sounds
(analogue in language: inarticulate sounds and screams that can't be written down)
Level 1 - Incoherent - stuff like integral serialism, which, while it has tones (it's not noise), and structure, such structure is imperceptible to humans, and virtually impossible to remember. It sounds like random sequence of well defined tones, but still random. You could listen to Boulez's Structures dozens of times, without remembering a single musical idea from it. Each time you listen to it, is like the first one. And it's intentionally made that way. Boulez said, the idea was to make the listener focus only on the present moment, practically deleting the past, erasing the memory, so that every sound sounds fresh, like new sound, unrelated to what came before it.
(analogue in language: random sequence of letters: weoquifgqwodihwqiudghiuzdgziuwqdbv
Level 2 - Coherent, but meaningless - music that is well structured, its structure easily perceived and often enjoyed by humans, its structure respects all the rules of making good music, sounds good, can be remembered, can be learned and enjoyed. But... it's basically forgettable. It's music that sounds goods, that speaks in a musical language that humans can easily understand, but that ultimately doesn't say anything. It uses good language, but says nothing. It feels kind of bland, generic. In that category could easily be included some less important Haydn symphonies, or maybe even, large parts of output of most composers. It's like most works sound decent, maybe they try to say something, but they end up saying nothing and people tend to forget them.
(analogue in language: "Shurdles have zandily dorfed little cangles all across the Handerland." Or perhaps: "Meaningless green ideas sleep furiously.")
Level 3 - Meaningful - this is the music that contains timeless ideas, you need to hear it only once, and you'll remember it for your entire life. As if such ideas always existed in Plato's world of ideas, and only waited to be discovered. Such ideas don't need to be particularly profound, but they are always musically meaningful. Your brain perceives them as meaningful and readily remembers them. This category includes all the catchy melodies in the world, in all genres of music. So, it includes Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, but it also includes "Jingle Bells". It includes Handle's Messiah, but it also includes "Smoke on the water" guitar riff. It includes Vivaldi's Spring, but it also includes Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive".
(analogue in langauge: I think, therefore I am. A penny saved is a penny earned. All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy.)
Level 4 - Profound - All the works that are profound are also meaningful, but only some of the meaningful works are profound. Profound works, not only contain meaningful and memorable melodic passages, but also combine them in meaningful and profound ways, that often communicates some deeper ideas or emotions to the audience, or gives the listeners a unique and deep intellectual, aesthetic and emotional experience. I think top 10% of the output of famous composers belongs to this category. Examples: Bach's Mass in B minor, Beethoven's 9th symphony, or 14th string quartet, etc...
(analogue in language: Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky, Hamlet by Shakespeare, etc...)
I think music quality and artistic merit also follows this categorization, with Level 4 being at the top, and Level 0 being at the bottom.
So here's how I would rank some musical works.
  1. String quartet no. 14 (Beethoven), Mass in B Minor, Symphony no. 3 (Beethoven), Carmina Burana (the whole work), Mozart's Requiem, Beethoven's 9th symphony, etc.
  2. Spring (Vivaldi), Für Elise (Beethoven), Jingle Bells, Sweet Child O'Mine, Yesterday, Bolero, Radetsky March, O Fortuna, Hotel California, Schubert's Ave Maria
  3. Random Haydn's symphony. Random Vivaldi's violin concerto. Random pop / rock song. Random Schubert's art song.
  4. Boulez - Structures 2; most of integral (and not just integral) serialism stuff, A cat walking on a piano, a child playing random tones on piano
  5. Vacuum cleaner sounds, washing machine sounds, car engine...
There are exceptions though.
Musical works can be profound for non-musical reasons, but this is a rare exception, and often a bad excuse for a work, that is in essence bad.
Perhaps it could be argued that John Cage's 4'33'' is profound because it communicates meaningful ideas about the importance of environmental sounds and how they can be considered music, or perhaps Boulez's Structures are profound because they represent an attempt to erase the memory of trauma caused by World War 2, and start anew. So their importance comes from general artistic statement that they tried to make (more like conceptual art), not from any merit of their music itself.
What do you think of my controversial ranking of Jingle Bells above "a random Haydn's symphony", and also a random Haydn's symphony, above pretty much any work of integral serialism?

2024.05.21 19:34 Dull_Significance687 With 'Homeland' coming to an end, what kind of TV hero will combat the next form of terrorism?

MANY THINGS ARE HAPPENING IN TODAY'S GEOPOLITICS. TENSIONS IN THE MIDDLE EAST, RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR, ISRAEL-HAMAS WAR. (More conflicts with Iran, even Taiwan strait crisis, the dangers of AI and about Korea, China, Cuba, Venezuela, Africa.)
Between past and present, the series demonstrated a mysterious ability to stay one step ahead of the news
For all his scrapes, personal losses, and absurdly urgent calls, Jack Bauer, the tough, tough-talking counterterrorism agent played by Kiefer Sutherland on Fox's 24, had a relatively quiet life compared to Carrie Mathison, the resilient , but almost always deeply wounded (and, not coincidentally, bipolar) CIA agent played by Claire Danes in Showtime's Homeland, which ends after an impressive succession of eight seasons.
Each in their own way, Jack and Carrie came to represent the pressing global crises of their times. 24 premiered weeks after the September 2001 terrorist attacks and the drumbeat of war, at a moment that could be considered shockingly inappropriate (the first episode opened with a woman installing a bomb inside a plane) or too targeted solely at the United States. American viewers found they could project many of their anxieties about national security onto the series, which acted as an adrenaline rush, expressed in increasingly twisted (and less plausible) twists.
In its eighth and final season, ‘Homeland’ focuses on the two main characters
It was harder to find this catharsis in Homeland, but it made the series much better and more relevant. The defeats suffered by its characters (particularly Claire Danes as Carrie and Mandy Patinkin as Saul Berenson, Carrie's intelligence consultant and mentor) made Homeland more believable as the 21st century's real-life war on terror dragged on and on.
The bully look of Jack Bauer and his fictional Counterterrorism Unit portrayed in the 9/11 era gave way, in Homeland, to a beleaguered and politically paralyzed CIA, seen through the distortions of an agent's justifiable paranoia.
Carrie Mathison's story should not be interpreted as a sequel to Jack Bauer's trajectory (although both series had the same executive producer, Howard Gordon). Still, from the first season of Homeland it was very clear that Carrie would advance into much more complex and dark territory than that left by Jack - a time that goes roughly back to the American military operation that killed Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in May 2011 until President Donald Trump's impeachment hearings in 2019, an era in which the intelligence sector was first praised, then vilified, and finally punished with dismissal by the White House.
Homeland's prescience anticipated many cases of dishonest conduct by intelligence officials, who are always plagued by executive ineptitude, which the series treated as a chronic condition of successive presidents.
Co-created and meticulously overseen by executive producer and writer Alex Gansa (and adapted from an Israeli TV series), Homeland began as a riveting thriller about the trustworthiness of a Marine recently rescued from prisoner of war status, Sergeant Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis).
While the country celebrated Brody as a war hero, Carrie worked to find out if he had converted to Islamic terrorism. Seven seasons later, Homeland had another script: Carrie, who had spent months in a Russian prison, without access to her psychiatric medications, was now distrusted by her colleagues for a whole series of reasons, including the possibility that she was a Russian spy. .
Between past and present, Homeland has demonstrated an uncanny knack for staying one step ahead of the news. The plot was obsessed with online Russian propaganda and far-right mayhem at the same time the country was beginning to see (and ignore) the strings tied to various puppets.
Now, in the final season, Homeland focuses on the long-awaited peace agreement between the United States and the Taliban. The American president (Beau Bridges) traveled to Afghanistan to seal the deal, but was killed when his military helicopter crashed - an event designed to look like the Taliban had shot down the aircraft.
Defying her CIA supervisors, in the last few episodes Carrie did everything she could to find (and then lose) the helicopter's black box, which could prove that the crash was an accident. We are once again at the point where Homeland has always thrived: a world on the brink, with tensions rising between>! the United States and Pakistan!< and many men determined not to listen to a woman they all think is not right in the head. A recap of the entire Homeland story arc could simply say, “Despite everything, she moved on.”
Like many early fans, I tried to be one of those viewers who gave up on 'Homeland,' but I never succeeded. I admired rather than criticized the series' twists and turns (you can't say “crazy”, given its commitment to portraying Carrie's mental illness). Homeland was an unusual study in the art of the mid-season course correction, inventing surprising and provocative solutions to the narrative alleys it had run into. Chief among them was Carrie's decision in season seven to relinquish custody of her daughter — the only TV mom I can think of whose solution to the work-life balance dilemma was to stop being a mom. It was a painful and powerful commentary on the chaotic state of the world, hers and ours.
When it comes to series that are so relevant, the best ones always leave one question: who or what will take their place?
What kind of contemporary hero would be the natural successor to Jack Bauer or Carrie Mathison? And what will be the focus of your mission? Who or what will be your enemy - domestic terrorism? Vladimir Putin? Climate change deniers?
Could it be, perhaps, an FBI agent combating American hate crimes and fake news, in a series about a divided nation, rotting from the inside? (Homeland even touched on this subject.) Or a series about a kind of special operations squad of former diplomats, tasked with restoring the global damage caused by a certain government?
A series about an epidemiologist fighting disinformation campaigns? About a cybersecurity expert, even if viewers don't really like series about people sitting in front of a computer? (Homeland, unfortunately, killed its most promising spin-off potential: Max Piotrowski, Carrie's loyal computer technician, an increasingly hardened and dedicated soul, played by Maury Sterling).
Will our next Jack or Carrie be some kind of deranged hacker, like Rami Malek in Sam Esmail's Mr. Robot? Or the betrayed and mentally manipulated therapists and soldiers from another of Esmail's series, the conspiratorial Homecoming, which returns next month?
None of the above, I imagine. Like the world itself, the mission is now more open and dangerous than ever. The character who gets the task is doomed to be tortured, literally and figuratively.

2024.05.21 17:43 Kro82 Any Shaheen mains out there?

Basically I want to main a character and I just so happen to like Shaheen the most. Im still very low ranks, Cavalry I think, the last green rank. Yes I’m new. I like the look of his rage art and the other move where he looks like he’s surfing on his opponent. I think it’s F, F 3. His move which looks like a throw is also cool, I think it gets rid of recoverable health as well F, B 2
I also like his sliding tackle but I struggle to do it, I play on an Xbox controller. I can’t seem to do it consistently in training and in a match I’ve never been able to pull it off yet. Also the only special intro I’ve noticed so far is against Kazuya. Mentions something about his friend? I’m curious does anyone know who his friend or the person he’s talking about is? I’ve played against one Kazuya who unfortunately skipped his intro so I never saw the response. But doe’s Shaheen have any other special intros against other characters?
Sorry for rambling, just curious about the characters history or lore really.
Thing is I want to learn more about him. I’ve tried a couple videos off YouTube but like other character guides they seem to focus mainly on combos?
Anyway, I’m looking for general tips really but also things like small strings or pokes. I’m not sure on the correct name but something like what F 2, 4, 4 does because whenever I press buttons they never seem to flow with each other. What are his strengths and weaknesses if he has any?
Thank you.

2024.05.21 13:24 Suitable_Cry_340 Depression/anxiety

Hey so this is a big rant but I need to get this off my chest and don't really have anyone in real life to talk about this stuff to.
I've had a string of bad luck recently in terms of an abusive relationship and moving homes, getting a restraining order against them, and being dropped by a close friend group unexpectedly a few months ago.
I've also become a total shut-in, I can't help but feel like everyone hates me or something like that even when I have no reason to believe that.. Maybe this is related to the friend group stuff and some unprocessed trauma I don't know but now I'm in this place where I really want friends and to have a solid friend group again but I'm losing the motivation to try as whenever I go out to events I'll have conversations with mutual friends and they always say something like "we gotta do something soon!" but the plans always fall through. I'm so over putting in effort and feeling like its one-sided or getting played, both platonic and romantic relationships.
I have people mention to me that I must be so busy all the time and that I must have lots of friends. I tell them I don't really have friends or that I feel like everyone hates me people are always really confused to hear it and say that it's actually the opposite, but I just can't shake that paranoia that people just put up with me to be polite or something. I've only felt this social anxiety this bad in this last year.
I am tired all the time, although I sleep a lot. I used to wake up early and sleep 7-8 hours, exercise, hang out with people, work 5 days a week, study well, and now I go to bed at 4am (I can't fall asleep well anymore) and then I wake up at midday, feel bad about myself for that, don't exercise anymore because I'm still tired, never hang out with anyone, and quit one of my jobs because my mental health got so bad at one point I couldn't work as well as I used to. So now I only work 1-2 shifts a week, which weirdly feels like the biggest effort. I have become so exhausted and lack any motivation to do anything nowadays.
This is all stressing me out because I'm finding it hard to focus with my studies which isn't the best timing because I've got exams in a month and I must do well this semester.
I just feel like a failure because I'm 22, am only just in my first year of a bachelor degree (I switched degrees recently so I have to restart my whole degree again), don't really have friends, not really on good terms or close with my family and haven't become good or skilled at anything because I'm so disorganised and tired all the time, I've got an ex who keeps harassing me and although I'm really trying to stay positive about it all I'm really feeling a bit like life keeps trying to turn me into a villain or something.
Just curious what everyone else does for their depression, anxiety, trauma etc?
Been dealing with bouts of all the above lately and the things I usually do (art, music) aren't really fixing it like they used to.

2024.05.21 11:30 HampurHampur My full review "The Shield". The best TV show of all times. Let's discuss [SPOILER]

I have already made short post that I finished series finale. I stiil feel sad, depressed and that feeling when tv show ended.... unbelievable how "The Shield" is stuck with me. Can't believe this journey is over.
I wanted to say so many things. Firstly, how can I miss this? I was too young when it came out, but I hear about "The Wire" everywhere even now. "The shield" feels like out of the radar all the time. WE MUST DO SOMETHING WITH IT! Please, just watch "The Shield"!
My friend told me to watch it and he stumbled upon this Tv show in one cool review that was left by some user (girl , actually) on my native language site about movies/tvshows.
When I look at some photos and pictures of "The Shield" I have thoughts that it is like CSI or some other typical cop show with nothing more. How wrong was I with such first impression.
What I really like that "The shield" has blu-ray release. So cool tv show is reinnovate for high quality format and has a lot of bonus features on blu-ray.
My friend also told me that I need to watch especially until Season 5 where it will be so high level quality writing that I gonna really appreaciate "The Shield".
As for myself, I fond of cinema. I just not go easy on any movies/tvshows. I am very nit-picking because I like to learn about cinematography, screenwriting, directing and so on. For me movies like the greatest art and I study movies as an art. That's why I feel bored about modern movies and TV shows. Screenplays are not bold, not so complex, characters feel flat and creators afraid to insult other races, woman right and so on. Many movies and TV shows of modern era feel convinient. I am tired of that. And I started to watch "The Shield" six months ago.
"The Shield" was aired in the right time! Year 2002 like "The Wire". From the pilot episode "The Shield" don't try to be convinient, it shows you what Vic and his team doing, what "The barn" doing everyday. Everything around characters feels not-convinient: drug-addicted, child trafficking, other awful staff around. Characters not just saint and clean, they do what they have to do like it or not as a viewer. That's what I wished for a long time. "The Shield" just clicked with me. I can't even imagine TVshow about cops can be on such level with great cast, great characters, really good screenwriting, directing and editing.
Before "The Shield" I can't tolerate semi-documentary cinematography and "hand-held" effect of camera in movies. In "The Shield" I fall in love with such camerawork and editing. That's really what I can't imagine I would love in cinemas. In this Tv show every take is so close, editiing beetwen close-mid plan camera panning and it feels so great in terms of "The Shield" storytellling. You are always near characters, you like breathing just around their shoulders and see every bad side of Farmington so close that you feel how disgusting this district is. Incredible work from cinematographers and editors.
Dynamic feeling of everything that happens on the screen. The greatest part of "The Shield" it is never trying to dragging some melodrama to extend seasons or try to be sentimental in the scenes. Modern TVshows really like that and i don't. Don't need to play with the viewer. In "The Shield" everything happenes so fast, so realistic that sometimes you can't even catch a breath. Not a single dull episode. In every episode something cool will definetely happens and it keeps you attached to the screen. And I don't mean that "The Shield" hasn't some melancholic or not-fast pacing moment. On the opposite, "The Shield" has everything what makes cinema alive and fascinating.
Let me explain what I really like about "The Shield" and I have never experience such different emotions just in one piece of the cinema:
In "The Shield" you can feel like a kid again and rooting for cool-masculine guys who breaks door and shout: "Police! On the ground!". After some episodes I really wanna just play in cops and criminals on my yard with friends. That's how action feels in this Tv show. I wanna buy merch with "Strike Team" on it and snake eating rat logo. Incredible.
In "The Shield" as an adult you can feel totally devastated by events that just happened on the screen. You can feel pure emotions from character actions. And what most important you don't want to judge character right away you want to put yourself in his shoes because what character did feels so realistic. Characters here not some fancy cards, you can feel them like real human beings.
In "The Shield" you can laugh as an adult. Humor in some scenes and from some characters really spot on and not stupid. It is full drama but some episodes has great humor parts. And again it feels so real and natural like human beings in real life would joke about something. Bilings sutuations and lines from later seasons are just pure gold.
In "The Shield" you want to discuss some parts of the story. It feels like after reading a good complex books with interesting characters you start to think about their actions and how you can think about your actions in the real life. What it is like to be a coward? To be hypocrite? What about loayalty and friendship? Trust me not so many movies/TVshows can be so full-thinking. It's a miracle that such depth can be in cop TV show. I stiil can't imagine how believable characters are and situations in "The Shield". Script and story of all seasons and how characters arcs redeemed is golden!
So I trying to say "The Shield" can feel like popcorn-blockbuster cop show in some parts with overacting but sometimes it's pure complex drama with silence scenes and great acting and very realistic characters. It's the best mixture of movie formula that I have seen in my life! I stiil can't imagine that I saying such words in terms of cop TV show.
"The Shield" was ahead of its time. It is a real piece of art. In modern days I want to see Tv show with overacting (when it need to be done), cool action and the same time it can provide me with great drama sequences and believable characters.
[SPOILER] section below. Please read only if you watched the series.
What I also like about "The Shield" it has great leading character. Michael Chiklis was born for this role. Maybe in first seasons you can think he overacting sometimes and can't be so dramatic but in the late seasons Michael have shown one of the best acting scenes in cinema. Pure mastery. This 42 second silence in front of Olivia was something unique and incredible. Then final eyes scene with Cloudette and finale running eyes scene in the ending of season 7 when he sits alone.
Vic is so well written in every season. He is the anchor of the show. So charismatic, strategy wise, musculine and cool and what I like the most this character feels real. When Vic came alone in gang territory and didn't fear anything you believe in that. You understand as a viewer that not anybody in "the barn" have balls for things that Mackey can do. He uses "shortcuts" in police work that only he can manage. He has really metal backbone. Even when he mentally broke at the end of the 1st season he needs just a couple of minutes to grab his shit together and go further. Character has a great amount of willpower and dedication to do anything that he wanted to.
Vic is the greatest anti hero in cinema history. Many side characters hate him but when there is a problem that no one can resolve Mackey step up. Farmington is so dirty that it needs people dirty as Vic to clean it.
I actually always rooted for Vic as a viewer because nobody in "The Shield" is black and white. Even Claudette free Kleavon from death penalty to keep her warm place. And I like that "The Shield" shows every character is corrupt somehow.
But I can't believe that Vic betrayed Ronnie. It hits hard. After that I as a viewer understood Cloudette words: "Vic is trying to be someone he wants you to see him". We viewers see Vic true nature in the final episode and it hits hard too. He always was like that and we didn't want to accept. And some part of me like him but other part can't forgive him for what he did to others. Such a great character downfall through all seasons. And this shot when he smiled to his gun and go somewhere. Where did he go? He can't sit tight he always need to be "living on the edge" this his type of character.
I wanna write about other characters. Shane for sure. But Post is too big. I leave it for later.
10/10. I am empty and depressed that "The Shield" journey ended for me. Can't believe that many people don't know about this masterpiece. I am glad I stumbled upon it. It touched my strings for cinema love that not any movie or tv show touching in years.
So many emotions and thoughts. Thanks to Shawn Ryan, Michael Chiklis, Walton Goggins and every other member of "The Shield" crew and FX. I wish I had a chance to tell it to them personally. I am grown man but I feel emotions like a kid again. Pure emotions from "The Shield" story.
To sum up my words. I like this ending montage of Season 2. It has great editing and you feel emotions. I literally cried when I rewatched it after the final. Clodette touches Dutch and thanked him. Aceveda moving forward. Coriine in thoughts. Dutch investigate a murder again. And Pile of money scene... Vic the only one who is laughing but others feel mix emotions. Gives shivers to my spine.

2024.05.21 03:56 drywallOMEGALUL [Help] I don't know which type I am

I'm having a very hard time deciding whether I am any type at all. It all feels like to some extent at some point i start to have worldviews, traits, behaviors like this type, but at other times, but when it happens it's extremely vibrant and apparent for me.
When people tell me something i often need a fact check or a need to understand why they feel this way about this certain thing. If not i often take it as a form of manipulation and tend to get really paranoid about the intention of what this person is trying to do to me. Im very grateful who is consistent in their responses, whom I could trust my thoughts onto as im in a free of judgement zone. But it's scary that i always know the harmless ways that can disappoint someone if im not behaving the way that i'm expected or supposed to. So I restrict a lot of relationships because how easily is it to mess up through my neurotic being. Im really ashamed of how i behave, talk, and appear since i often come off as a broken and a flawed person that im constantly being judged for. society wise im quite crippled.
However, it's a selfish process as I keep most of the understandings for myself and execution-wise I tend to be more questioning, unconsciously asserting my individual opinion on top of it out of urge, and spend lower effort in the process of validating towards that other person, since I find that process to be somewhat too much of unrealistic coping and wishful thinking that it might give them an illusion of power. Yet, I always push for a narrative of "Do what you want, and know what you're getting into" to promote the idea that they shouldn't lose themself, but do be characteristic while also be informed at the same time. Which I tend to like make a lot of quotes and like imagine myself as some sort of inspiring idealist that gives alternative perspectives in life that makes it meaningful in your own way, not relying on any set standards or existing principles that a person have to go through just to uphold that tradition. It's important for me to be remembered as insightful at some point. Then i can be cynical as i want after that.
Personally, no one knows me, I have my own world, I have my own fantasy that are sensory and nostalgic through the places i've been through or imagined being through. There's always some significant event that occur through envisioning something that never happened before and i take that as though it's a real for my history. It's such a memorable, distant, somewhat irrational, dark, brooding, or even heavenly, as it oscillates in my mind and how it coexist with both of my self-induced actualized fiction, and reality. But all of that daydreaming always base on one notion: eternal love and everlasting bond.

I’m a very creative person and many things interest me. I have a love/hate relationship with most of my hobbies, and trying new things in general, but I overall enjoy it. I’ve found that if I actually put some effort into something, I’m pretty much good at everything to a degree. (Unless that thing involves social interaction lol).
Here are all of my hobbies, (that I can think of), in no particular order:

2024.05.20 23:36 tempmailgenerator Rendering Email Templates in Django as Plain Text

Exploring Django's Email Template Rendering

In the world of web development, sending emails is a common task that enhances communication between applications and their users. Django, a high-level Python web framework, simplifies this process through its robust email handling features. However, developers often encounter the need to send emails not just as HTML but in plain text format. This requirement arises from the necessity to ensure compatibility with email clients that do not support HTML or for users who prefer a simpler, text-only version of the message. Rendering email templates as text in Django involves leveraging the framework's templating engine alongside its email utilities, a process that, while straightforward, requires understanding Django's templating and email handling mechanisms.
The challenge lies in efficiently converting HTML templates into text while retaining the essential content and structure. This process is crucial for creating accessible, user-friendly email communications. Django's template rendering system allows for flexibility in managing both HTML and text versions of emails, enabling developers to cater to a wide audience. By mastering the art of rendering email templates as text, developers can ensure that their Django applications communicate effectively with all users, regardless of their email client's capabilities or personal preferences for email consumption.
Command Description
EmailMessage Class for creating an email message that can be sent through Django's email backend.
send_mail Function for sending a single email message immediately.
render_to_string Function used to load a template and render it with a context, producing a string.

In-Depth Look at Django's Email Template Rendering

Email communication is an integral part of modern web applications, and Django provides a comprehensive framework for managing email operations. When it comes to sending emails, the content can significantly impact the recipient's engagement. HTML emails are visually appealing and offer rich content formatting, but they aren't always the best choice for every situation. Some users prefer or require plain text emails due to accessibility reasons, email client limitations, or personal preference. Therefore, understanding how to render email templates as text in Django is crucial for developers looking to create versatile and user-friendly email systems.
Django's template system is powerful and flexible, allowing developers to define templates for both HTML and plain text emails. This dual-format approach ensures that emails can be enjoyed by all users, regardless of their email client's capabilities. The process involves creating a text version of the email template that mirrors the HTML version but without the formatting. This means carefully crafting the message to ensure that it conveys the same information and retains its effectiveness without relying on visual elements. Additionally, by utilizing Django's built-in template rendering and email utilities, developers can streamline the email sending process, making it more efficient and less prone to errors. This approach not only enhances the accessibility of emails sent from Django applications but also demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity and user experience.

Creating and Sending Plain Text Emails in Django

Using Django Framework
from django.core.mail import EmailMessage from django.template.loader import render_to_string from django.utils.html import strip_tags subject = "Your Subject Here" html_content = render_to_string('email_template.html', {'context': 'value'}) text_content = strip_tags(html_content) email = EmailMessage(subject, text_content, to=['recipient@example.com']) email.send()

Advanced Techniques for Rendering Django Email Templates

Within the Django framework, the versatility of email handling mechanisms stands out as a significant feature, especially when it comes to rendering templates into text. This capability is essential for ensuring that emails are accessible to all users, including those who use screen readers or prefer text-only emails for their simplicity and faster loading times. Rendering email templates as text involves more than just stripping HTML tags; it requires a thoughtful approach to content presentation. Developers must ensure that the textual representation conveys the same messages as the HTML version, maintaining all critical information and calls to action.
Moreover, the challenge extends to maintaining the email's structure and readability without the visual cues provided by HTML. This can involve using markdown or other text formatting techniques to indicate headings, lists, and other structural elements. Django developers can use the `render_to_string` method to generate both HTML and plain text versions of emails from templates, allowing for a dynamic selection based on the user's preferences or the capabilities of their email client. This practice not only enhances the user experience but also underscores the importance of inclusivity in digital communications, making sure that every recipient can access the information in the format that works best for them.

  5. Question: Is it possible to use Django templates for emails sent through Celery tasks?
  6. Answer: Yes, you can render email templates in Django to be sent via Celery tasks, ensuring that your emails are processed asynchronously for better performance.
  7. Question: Can Django automatically convert HTML emails to plain text?
  8. Answer: Django does not automatically convert HTML to plain text, but you can use the `strip_tags` method or third-party packages to help with the conversion.
  9. Question: How can I test Django email templates during development?
  10. Answer: Django offers a file-based email backend for development, allowing you to save emails as files rather than sending them, enabling easy inspection of both HTML and plain text versions.

Mastering Django's Email Rendering Process

In conclusion, the ability to render email templates as text in Django is an invaluable skill for web developers. This capability not only ensures that emails are accessible to all users, including those with specific preferences or requirements, but also underscores a developer's commitment to creating inclusive and user-friendly applications. The process requires a thoughtful approach to content adaptation, ensuring that the essence and clarity of the message are preserved across formats. By mastering both HTML and text-based email rendering, developers can significantly enhance the user experience, improve engagement, and ensure that critical information reaches every recipient. Ultimately, the flexibility and power of Django's email handling mechanisms make it an ideal platform for developers looking to implement comprehensive and adaptable email communication strategies in their web applications.

2024.05.20 21:39 MuthrofDragnz Two separate but functional views of the same To-Do list?

I work for a "Sip & Craft" studio and I'm in charge of keeping track of our teams To Do list. We have several different types of events (or classes) and each one comes with it's own To-Do list. We have an event almost every day and on Saturdays we have at least 4. Some of our team works remotely and we aren't always in at the same time so we need a To-Do list that keeps us all on the same page and Google Keep didn't seem detailed enough for our needs.
When an employee completes a task they check the box and enter their initials and the date. I think there is a way to automate the initials and date based on users but I haven't gotten that far yet.
I created the tab called "ByClass" first. This contains our daily, weekly, monthly and "ByClass" to do lists. The "ByClass" list is also sorted by date and has individual headers for each date and class. This format is easiest for me to enter what needs to be done for each event as well as keep track of when all the tasks for that event are done. This also makes it easier to see how many events are happening in one day and includes links to our guest list pdf's.
For some of my coworkers it would be easier to see this list sorted by the date a task needs to be completed (Column E) or who a task may be assigned to (Column F) but as it is, there is no way to sort this sheet without the individual headers getting lost. Is there a way to group rows together when sorting?
I created a "Daily" tab and used the FILTER function which displays the information exactly how I would want it formatted in this view, but you can't interact with it at all or the filter breaks.
I know I could just use the "Daily" format with a filter on the headers that the user could change as needed but sometimes we have multiple people working on the list at the same time, and making sure a whole class is completed would be harder to see.
Ideally I would like both tabs to reflect each other so if someone completes a task and enters their information on either sheet, the other would show it.
\"ByClass\" tab
\"Daily\" tab with FILTER function

Upstaged by Marlon Brando
I thought I had the talent to be an actor. A mercurial classmate gave me second thoughts.
By Alan ShayneMay 20, 2023 Marlon Brando photographed sitting on a chair and holding a book in 1946. Photograph by Cecil Beaton I was eighteen, living in New York, and trying desperately to get work as an actor. It was 1943. I had been drafted, and the plan was to do my time, then study with the help of the G.I. Bill. I’d spent a summer doing Shakespeare but had just been fired from a production where I played a gross, blustering football star. I was a polite boy from Brookline, Massachusetts, and I just couldn’t work myself into the character: smacking men on the back, smearing a chocolate bar on my camel-hair coat. I realized that I had to learn the technique of acting. Everything I’d done so far was instinctive.
The day came for my physical. I went through the routine like an automaton, distancing myself from the hundreds of young men who stood self-consciously in their underwear. One of the doctors took a long time examining my ears. “Perforated eardrums,” he said.
I was free. I got a scholarship at the New School for Social Research, which had a prestigious drama workshop. On my first day, the registrar gave me my schedule: Theory of the Theatre, Acting, March of the Drama, Movement, and Makeup. I signed papers all morning, and then she took me to my group, which was already in session. Ten students were seated at small tables in front of standing mirrors, applying cosmetics to their faces. They stopped and stared as I walked in.
“Alan is joining your class, and I hope you’ll make him feel at home,” the registrar said.
Several boys got up to shake my hand; the girls said hello. One extremely handsome boy, who had drawn a line from the center of his forehead down to his chin, and who had made up half his face in garish war paint, walked over to me. I put out my hand, but he glared and walked out the door. Everyone giggled, and the registrar said, “Don’t mind him. That’s just Marlon trying to get attention.”
One of the boys lent me some makeup, and I sat applying it, looking in the mirror. I wondered if I’d made a mistake. After all, I had experience in a touring company, in summer stock. I’d put on makeup dozens of times. No, I thought, I’ve got to study—that crazy boy with the war paint had just brought me down.
Stella Adler, the most important acting teacher in the country, was coming to lead a class. I was terribly excited. She had been with the Group Theatre, the pioneering New York drama collective, and had actually studied with Konstantin Stanislavski, the originator of Method acting. I had been reading his book “My Life in Art” as if it were the Bible, but I still couldn’t make sense of the Method and how to do it. I was sure Stella Adler would teach me.
She was a half hour late, but no one seemed surprised. Everyone had been talking, sprawled on folding chairs or perched on a raised platform that took up one side of the room. Suddenly, it was quiet. The students shifted their positions and looked toward the double doors, like animals sensing an approach.
There was a waft of expensive perfume, and Miss Adler appeared. Hands rushed to take her umbrella, her bag, her fur coat. “Darlings,” she said, kissing and hugging the students closest to her. They guided her into an armchair, and she reached above her head. “What do you think of my chapeau?” she asked. It was a frothy black cap from which feathers danced whenever she moved. A girl said unctuously, “It’s beautiful, Miss Adler.” She was ignored as Miss Adler shed a suit jacket that revealed a filmy satin blouse. She looked at me. “You must be the new boy,” she said. I felt her eyes peel back the layers of my clothes. “Yes, Miss Adler,” I said. She reached out her hand, and I stumbled over to take it. “I hope you’re very talented,” she said. I stood awkwardly as she looked me over. “Sit down, darling,” she said, and I staggered back to my seat.
For half an hour, she discussed her clothes with the class. “Do you really think this suit is more becoming than the one I wore last week?” Then she listened to everyone’s comments about whether she was better in green or in blue. Finally, she said, as if we had delayed her, “Let’s get to work. Marlon, you lazy boy, get in that chair.”
Marlon hadn’t turned up in any of my other classes, but I had seen him sitting in the hall, playing bongo drums, surrounded by a coterie of admirers. He made a point of not looking at me. One of the students told me that his last name was Brando. The rumor was that he was being kept by a rich, older man and that he had a girlfriend named Blossom Plum.
The class watched as Marlon slumped across the room and fell into a folding chair. He looked as though he had crossed the desert without water. “Now, Marlon, peel an apple,” Miss Adler said. Marlon pantomimed the knife slipping under the skin, then began to peel. He did it so convincingly that it seemed to be in one long piece that kissed the floor. “Now, Marlon, I’m going to say some words to you, and I want you to react accordingly,” Miss Adler said. “Cold . . . hot . . . hungry . . . tired . . . depressed.” I couldn’t believe my eyes. Marlon continued to peel the apple, but each time he heard a word he seemed to change. The metamorphosis was nearly imperceptible, but he actually became cold or hot or hungry. I thought, My God, I’ll never be able to do that. The class applauded. Marlon slumped back to his chair.
“Our time is up,” Miss Adler sighed. “Now listen. I believe that every actor should be able to do something in addition to acting—like singing or dancing or telling a story. So next time, I want you all to come in with a story, or a poem, or whatever, and perform it as if you were in a cabaret. Is that clear?” There were murmurs of agreement, and then a shuffle of chairs as actors rushed to help Miss Adler with her coat. I sat for a moment in my seat. I knew what I would do: my rendition of “The Devil and Daniel Webster,” the short story by Stephen Vincent Benét, for which I’d won a speaking prize my senior year in high school. I’d show them Marlon wasn’t the only talented one.
The next class with Miss Adler had the palpable charge of opening night. No one would tell anyone what they were going to do. It was all a surprise.
After a show of hands, Miss Adler chose a lanky, blond girl to go first. I had learned her name was Elaine Stritch and that her uncle was high up in the Catholic church, in Chicago. She was wearing a trainman’s overalls and her hair was pulled back. She sat on the floor and strummed her guitar, singing in a haunting, simple voice: “I wonder as I wander out under the sky, how Jesus the Saviour did come for to die.” The class didn’t wait to gauge Miss Adler’s response. Everyone applauded loudly.
I waved my hand in front of Miss Adler’s face. “The new boy seems very eager,” she said. “All right darling, you go next.”
I stepped up onto the platform and was relieved to see that Marlon had left the room. I felt as if I were performing in front of the Queen and her courtiers. It had been two years since I had won the speaking prize, but I remembered every word of the Benét story. I was nervous in the beginning, but I felt a new authority as I acted out several different parts, all with different accents and personalities. I told the story of the Devil’s battle with Daniel Webster to possess a man’s soul. I grew more and more impassioned. I felt transported to the New England farm where the story took place, and I became very moved when Webster finally won at the end. I had hardly finished when Miss Adler’s voice trumpeted, “Excellent!” and the class applauded. I went to my seat feeling a camaraderie with the others for the first time.
As soon as I sat down, Miss Adler gestured in my direction. “Now, let’s not be confused that what he did was acting,” she said. “He told a story and put on voices for the different characters. That’s all right for cabaret, which was the assignment, but we mustn’t mix it up with real acting.” Everyone agreed. I didn’t see why it was necessary to diminish my performance in that way.
There was a sudden flurry of activity. The curtains on the platform were drawn and the lights went out. I could make out one of the actors dropping the arm on a record. As the music began, the actor rushed over and pulled the curtains. Standing in the center of the stage, in a pool of light, was a gorgeous woman in a velvet evening dress and long white gloves. The class gasped—it was Marlon in a blond wig. As Judy Garland began to sing—“Zing! Went the strings of my heart”—Marlon began to lip-synch. I realized the record was on at twice the speed so that the sound was comic, as if Marlon had Betty Boop’s voice. The class went to pieces. The students screamed and applauded; several of them slid off their chairs and rocked with laughter on the floor. Through it all, Marlon played it straight. Miss Adler collapsed in her chair. “The Devil and Daniel Webster” had been completely forgotten.
The cabaret incident was the last time I saw Stella Adler. She won a role in a play called “Pretty Little Parlor,” and coaxed her brother Luther into taking over the class. He had also been in the Group Theatre and was a renowned actor, having appeared many times on Broadway. He was in his forties, stocky and short, though he wore lifts in his shoes. He was all business but very warm and helpful. I was finally going to learn the Method that was beginning to be the basis of all good acting.
On his first day, Mr. Adler gave us an exercise in improvisation: we were all to be chickens in a barnyard. We would hear on the radio that war was declared, and we had to react as chickens—to decide whether we were married, leaving our chicken families to go off to war, or whether we were single and awaiting the draft. I looked around. Students started clucking as they moved on their knees toward each other. Some of the girls grabbed boys and acted as if they were their husbands. I had always been uncomfortable with improvisation, so I decided that I was a loner who didn’t like the other chickens. I sat and sulked and managed to get through the ordeal.
Around that time, auditions began for the big student play of the year: Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.” This was very exciting. I’d acted in “Much Ado About Nothing” in Boston, learning the rudiments of doing Shakespeare, and I’d got my scholarship by reciting one of his soliloquies. I went to the audition feeling confident, but discovered that all the boys were trying out for Duke Orsino, the part that I wanted. Everyone had to read for the director, Erwin Piscator, who was also the head of the workshop. He was a slight man, around fifty, beautifully dressed and with meticulously combed silver hair. He had been famous in Germany for doing epic theatre, a movement that stressed the political content of drama. He had escaped the Nazis and now sat hunched at the front of the auditorium.
I was startled to see Marlon, who hadn’t been around much. I’d heard that he’d been raving about “Good Night, Sweet Prince,” a biography of John Barrymore, the renowned Shakespearean actor, that had just been published. He was laughing at rumors that Barrymore, a known alcoholic, had peed on the floor of his dressing room when people came to praise a performance. I thought it was sad that a great actor resorted to such low tricks for attention, but I wasn’t surprised that Marlon was taken in by them. As usual, he looked right through me as we waited in the wings. I couldn’t understand why I annoyed him, but I put it out of my head. I could hear the boys who went before me, and none of them seemed exciting. Marlon was the worst. He mumbled his way through, making no sense of the words or the iambic pentameter. When my turn arrived, I forgot about the others, succumbing to the thrill of being onstage, the pleasure of reading such beautiful lines. Piscator thanked each of us. A few days later, a cast list was posted. I was Duke Orsino.
On the first day of rehearsal, we were all a little nervous. Piscator had directed the greats of Europe, and we were just kids trying to find our way. He settled in the front row and looked up. “Alright, begin,” he said. I started to speak the opening lines, and Piscator jumped out of his seat. “No, no, no,” he shouted. “You Americans are so afraid of the poetry.” He came onstage and walked over to me. “You have one of the most beautiful speeches in Shakespeare,” he said. “It must be like a rhapsody. Your voice should sound like a cello. Now begin again.”
After weeks of rehearsal, we were ready. There were two opening shows: one in the afternoon, for the school, friends, and agents, and an official première in the evening. Around noon, I began putting on makeup backstage. My costume was stunning: a red doublet with a diamond pattern, red tights, a navy-blue blouse with puffed sleeves, and a silver cape. I was just finishing combing my hair when Piscator walked into the dressing room. “Good afternoon, Mr. Piscator,” everyone said. “Good afternoon,” he replied. “I just came to say merde.” The French word for “shit’” was traditional in the theatre for wishing someone luck. It made us feel very professional.
Piscator walked over and stood beside my chair. “There’s been a bit of a problem,” he said, “but I think we’ve solved it very well.” I asked him what it was. “You see,” he said, “Stuart’s mother is very ill, so he had to go to Washington last night, and he can’t get back in time for the performance. He’ll be here tonight, but we had to get someone to take his part this afternoon. Of course, it’s only eight lines, so it’s not that difficult.” I blanched. Stuart’s part was the priest—the hardest moment in the play for me. It was the scene when the Duke finds out that the woman he loves has apparently just married his manservant, who seems to be in love with the Duke. All hell breaks loose, and the priest is summoned to confirm the ceremony.
“Who’s going to play it?” I asked. The director beamed. “Marlon has been good enough to help us out,” he said. “It’s very nice of him.”
Of all the actors, I thought. “Can we rehearse before the curtain?”
“There’s no time, unfortunately,” he said. “He’s in the costume department now, but he knows his spot onstage. I’m sure he’ll be fine.”
I went onstage, sat on my throne, and listened to the first swells of music. When the curtain rose, I filled my voice with an exhausted yearning. “If music be the food of love, play on . . . .” I nailed the opening scene, striking just the right balance between honest emotion and the beauty of the poetry. As I made my exit—“Away before me to sweet beds of flowers: love-thoughts lie rich when canopied with bowers”—there was a tremendous sound of applause.
The rest of the play went splendidly. Near the end, when I discovered that Olivia, my love interest, had married Cesario, my servant, the priest was sent for. I was deep in character, acting out the conflict between my desire to kill Cesario and my suspicion that he was in love with me, when I heard the audience start to laugh. I turned to see the priest. There was Marlon in a pair of tights, into which he had stuffed a small drum that made him look pregnant. He beat out a rhythm as he mumbled lines that no one could hear. The audience went wild. They laughed. They cheered. They egged him on until he performed a frenzied drum solo. The other actors onstage laughed, too, but I was livid. It was as if the play were totally forgotten. When Marlon finally finished, he left the stage to an ovation, and I had to wait until everyone quieted down. As I spoke, the audience started to laugh again.

Somehow, we finished the play. I walked to the dressing room in a fury. I thought of my past year in New York: never having enough food; losing a tooth because I couldn’t afford a dentist; being self-conscious about my smile; never being warm enough in my thin coat; and waiting on tables for people who seldom even gave me a tip. All to be in the theatre that I loved. But this wasn’t the theatre that I had read and dreamed about. When I entered the dressing room, Marlon was sprawled on a chair with cold cream all over his face.
“How dare you,” I said. “How dare you ruin this play!”
Marlon said nothing. “Aren’t you even going to say you’re sorry?” I asked. Marlon looked away. My frustration was building. “I’ll do everything in my power to keep you off Broadway,” I said. I went to my dressing table and sank into my chair. Piscator whooshed in. “Wonderful, wonderful,” he said. I got up and walked over to him. “Are you going to say anything to Marlon?” I asked.
“My dear, it was wrong, but it was just high spirits,” the director said. “Tonight is the most important performance, and Stuart will be here for it.” I looked at him. He no longer seemed like a great international director. “If you don’t reprimand him for his unprofessional behavior,” I said, “I’m going to leave the school.” Piscator raised his hand in a deprecating gesture, then left the room.
I did the evening performance and never went back again. Marlon Brando was on Broadway within a few months. ♦

2024.05.20 18:31 can_i_pet_dat_dawwwg How To Get Out Of Scrub Ranks - The Most In-Depth Guide

This masterpiece of a guide will be the only guide you'll ever need to beat low rank scurbs who mash all the time. This is not just a guide it is an academic research paper. We will even be exploring the psyche of the scrub so let's begin.
To beat the scrub you must understand the scrub. Go to tekkenmods dot com if you have an account it's even better but it's not needed. We will be diving deep into the unsophisticated brain of the scrub right now.
Go to Tekkenmods > Search all mods > Tekken 8 only > Filter by all time best.
What do you see?
I'll tell you what you see:
"NaKeD ReIna Mod my dude :DDDDDD big booba!!! heheheh wow skimpy bikini Lili with feeties ;DDDDD lilililililili *slurp slurp* heheh Jin Kazama with t-shirt that says CUMSLUT ;DDDD hehehe, Jun & Asuka except naked with BIG BOOBA!! HOHOOHOHO >;3333" so on and so forth.
Now yes, you are dealing with a bunch of Hentai fapping losers but what does that tell us about their gameplay?
LESSON 1: THEY LACK IMPULSE CONTROL
Which means they're never going to block. Whenever they are minus they are going to mash a panic move. When playing Tekken they can't help but beat off to video game characters you think they're going to sit there and take the mix up? Nah, son. You're getting atlas hammer'd, you're getting armour move'd, you're getting panic hop kicked, you're getting Law's d2,3'd. You get the idea.
And secondly they won't rematch. After you win, they are infuriated and they need to go blow off some steam looking at modded images of Xiayou. Y'all realise how they IMMEDIATELY throw out their rage art? Yeah they can't help it. They can't help but coom and they can't help but rage art. It's the two things they can't resist. Rage arts are obviously launch punishable and hop kicks are -13 so punish them too.
Also good thing to remember: Scroobies who play a character without hellsweep/demoman don't know how to open opponents up without going for their beloved 1+2 break (it's always that), a snake edge, or a string that has a low in it that they hope people don't know of. All of which are reactable, strings won't be a problem after you know they exist.
Key points:
BONUS: Here's what I mean: https://www.reddit.com/Tekken/comments/1cwkp0n/tekkens_youtube_comments_rabbit_hole/
Now you don't have to go far this time, it's right here on Tekken. No school trip for you. Now go to Tekken and sort by new.
What do you see?
I'll tell you what you see:
"Waaah waaaah this character cheap that character cheap"
"Waaaah waaaah why does that character have a DEATH ON BLOCK panic move that's so OP"
"Waaaah waaaah nerf every character I don't play"
What does that tell you?
LESSON 2: THEY DON'T ADAPT
Which means they won't learn the match up. Which means you can use the same set up on them OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
Like we've established: Be plus enough to guarantee a mid launcher: DO THAT.
In the unlikely event that the coomer scrub adapts then learn just ONE OTHER flow chart and use it against him. Either that or go for a chunky low ONLY in the unlikely event that the scrub learns to adapt and starts blocking. That's enough to beat him and you probably won't see him again soon because he's off to do other activities.
Congrats, you are now a proud holder of a purple rank.
You're welcome.

2024.05.20 17:59 chaos_knight_xy Boruto Boudicans ch. 37 part 2

Boruto Boudicans ch. 37 part 2
Meanwhile while all this was happening, John Graham was taking a walk in Bodeland.
Graham loved taking walks in the Boudican settlement, surrounded by walls, he had done it often, despite the many months that have passed.
Every time he does it, he is amazed how, despite being in a different country, the Boudicans have turned it into a landscape similar to mainland Boudica.
Graham enjoyed the constant wonders of walking through town.
Bam!
A rubber ball hit Graham in his chest, however he did not feal it at all.
Rather he was surprised at where the ball came from, for he wasn't paying attention.
He picked it up.
"Hey, our ball." Said a boy, about six years old, along with other boys holding hurling sticks.
"Oh, is this yours?" Said Graham. "Well, here you go just be more careful where you aim it, I don't want you hit anyone else."
Graham handed back the ball.
"Ok, yessir sir Graham." Replied one of the boys, at once the boys went back to playing their game.
Graham continued on his path, after a while he exchanged a few waves with people on the road.
Graham's people, the people of Bodeland, have accidentally calling him Sir John Graham, from time to time.
And each time, Graham had to correct them. A squire and a knight did look similar in Boudica, the main difference between a squire and a knight was a knight was usually older, around 15 or older.
Although there are a few exceptions, that Graham has heard about, although they may just be rumors.
RRRRRMMMMmmmmm!
Graham felt his stomach growl. He decided it was time to eat his fill for breakfast.
He went to the local bakery.
"Mr. John Graham, it has been a while!" said the head baker, Mrs. Baird. "What can I get for you today."
"I shall have jelly tart." Said Graham, putting down a silver coin to pay for the tart, as well as tip. "I need to eat something before studying under the Steward.
"Coming right up." Said Mrs. Baird, turning to her husband, Mr. Baird, who enjoyed baking, while his wife, Mrs. Baird managed everything. "You heard him Larry, make him a jelly tart, larger than usual, and put a poached egg on the side.
Graham was about to open his mouth, but Mrs. Baird spoke first.
"On the house, Graham cracker." Said Mrs. Baird.
"I don't even need that much, Mrs. Baird." Said Graham.
"Oh, come on you are growing boy, you've done so much for us already keeping everyone safe, little knight." Replied Mrs. Baird. "Right, Larry!"
"Right, dear." Replied Mr. Larry Baird.
"Also have to thank you, especially your sister for that cookie recipes." Said Mrs. Baird.
Mrs. Baird then handed Graham his food.
"I'll be sure, to give Mary your regards." Said Graham.
"Good luck on your studies, Graham cracker." Said Mrs. Baird.
Graham left the bakery shop; after that, Mrs. Baird was like another mother to Graham, she cooked the best baked goods he had ever tasted.
He loved everything about Bodeland, well, except for their disdain for his brother in arms, William Wallace.
"Well, nothing is perfect." Though Graham. "But Naruto had won people over, maybe if William tried, he could do the same."
Graham did not reflect any further, he had to go study under the high steward of Bodeland.
The High Steward was Steward Andreas Halliday who was of common birth, yet excelled at Universities in the Papal states, islands east of Boudica, home to the Boudican Church.
Graham himself was an extroverted outgoing guy, however he felt that he fell behind Stewart and William Wallace in certain aspects, mainly smarts and education.
Unlike Stewart and Wallace, Graham struggled reading and learning new information.
He didn't know why, but it just was tough for him. Graham passed his natural Boudican education befitting a squire, but deep down he felt he underperformed.
Graham desired to be a hero like Naruto Uzumaki, and heroes have challenges they must overcome.
So, Graham felt he must overcome his hurdle in education.
So, Graham, with his Boudican money purchased time from the Bodeland High Steward to educate him.
Meanwhile, Ehou and William Wallace were still traveling north.
Ehou felt unnerved, through the ride, looking anxiously at his side dagger.
He had lied to his mother about sleeping pills, rather he actually went to see the doctor.
He had the doctor wipe his visit from hospital records because he wanted it private.
Ehou tried remembering what happened after the tournament, but it was a blank.
William Wallace then stopped the both of them on the road.
William then got off his horse, then took out his mace.
Ehou's blood pressure skyrocketed, he fumbled, fell off his horse, and dropped all his weapons, and ran away.
"Wait, Ehou." Cried Wallace.
But Ehou was gone, he just kept running, and running.
Eventually Ehou found himself in a field, sitting on a stump.
He looked down at the ground, unsure of his life.
He started crying.
"Ehou." Said Wallace, finally caught up. "What has gotten into you, you have been acting weird, ever since after the squire's tourney."
Ehou looked towards William Wallace with tearful eyes.
William was taken aback.
"I killed him!" cried Ehou. "I killed Scrope!"
William was shocked.
"I'm sorry, I lied, I-I can't be warrior anymore." Said Ehou with a sad expression. "Killing is to-to much."

Meanwhile the High Steward of Bodeland was in his place of work in Bodeland.
Steward Andreas Halliday was working on a letter to Shinobi businessmen and work colleagues of his.
A servant came in, with more letters from his business compatriots.
"Thank you, Matthias." Said Andreas.
"My pleasure, sir." Replied the servant.
Andreas continues to read the letters of concern or replies to his own concerns.
He then remembers a meeting he hosted with them.
A meeting about a couple of weeks ago.
"Preposterous." Said one businessman. "This whole idea of peace in the Land of Fire is a joke."
Granted these men were of Shinobi origin, Andreas was surprised to hear men of the Shinobi World up set at the state of affairs in their own country.
"Who thought it was a good idea to put an uneducated brute in charge of a whole village, and it's welfare." Said another. "I get you need a powerful leader in times of war, but we are in "peace.", living in peace is a lot more complicated than living in war."
"It shouldn't be!" said different Shinobi businessmen. "The Hokage takes forever to approve paperwork, business is slow because of him, who though a warrior would be a good businessman, or politician in the time of peace, if you ask me, he is a war leader, not peace leader. One day, I thought he actually got better at economics, but from what I hear the Boudican William Wallace, who is actually educated, did the paperwork with ease, and actually made business for us run smoothly that day, but then it was back to being bad like it is always."
"Don't you dare speak that name, William Wallace!" Said Andreas. "William Wallace is cold blooded murderer."
The businessmen looked at each other after Andreas's statement.
"Anyways, that doesn't matter to us." Replied businessmen. "Whatever your feud with this half-Boudican, Balliol says if the Leaf knew the truth about him, there would be too many questions."
Andreas composed himself.
"Right, forgive me, on to Business then." Said Andreas.
A different businessmen came up with paper.
"Finally, we are going to discuss the Land of Fire government." He spoke. "Times have changed, they are more complicated in peace, than war, we need a Democratic government."
"A democratic government?" said Andreas with surprise. "Interesting, although Boudica didn't have that, not exactly at least. I have had children of nobility be my wards of mine for bit, so they may learn about studies, government, and the people, they would one day rule, then again, we are instilling our values in them, so in a way it is a form of democracy, because we are showing the children of the ruling class how to best rule us, by understanding our struggles. So, I can see my Boudican culture being a form of democracy, if the common folk help raise the future class. It explains why we kept peace for as long as we can remember."
"I agree on the democratic aspect, but you have a Boudican culture, we have a Shinobi one." replied one of the businessmen. "Different cultures require different solutions, right now we live under a dictatorship of uneducated warriors, who think battle can decide leadership in politics, government, and the economy. Same applies to the noble clans, they hold all the power, and their heirs receive it on a silver platter for free, no matter what. Yet us businessmen worked ourselves up from nothing, and yet we have no say in government, we know what is best for the common folk, because we are of the common folk, we create business, we create jobs, we make sure our children understand the importance of working hard and establishing themselves. We need a Democracy, and Balliol will help us achieve it. If we don't succeed, much more crimes will happen under Dictatorship. Doesn't matter if Naruto Uzumaki seems like a good guy, in our eyes, he is an awful Government official, Hiruzen Sarutobi was also considered a good Hokage, yet look what happened under his watch, the Uchiha massacre!"
The Businessmen start murmuring among themselves, agreeing with one another.
"I agree." Said Andreas. "No matter how you look at it, the Uchiha massacre was not justified, they should have known the Uchiha would retaliate for how piss poorly they have been treated. Being blamed by the nine tales attack, racially discriminated against, especially by the Second Hokage, forced to be outcasts of the village, oh even worse guilt tripped one of their own to carry out the massacre, talk about exploitation."
"Correct." Replied one of the businessmen. "We are different, we make sure not to exploit our workers, or else, no-one would support us, in fact, pay your workers justly and treating them well, this way makes more profit for everyone in the long run."
"But Naruto and Sasuke, as well as the other members of the Konoha are just two powerful, no one can stand against them, no wonder there is peace." said one of the other businessmen. "There is peace by fear, because anyone who would go openly against them would be annihilated."
All the businessmen nodded in agreement, so now they have to discuss a different course of action.
"Whatever our course will be gentlemen." Remembered Andreas. "Balliol will come up with the proper procedure, perhaps we may gain influence from Lord Comyn marrying the Princess Asami."
Andreas at that moment stopped remembering the meeting. He was back in his office. He realized he broke his writing quill.
He closed his eyes and sighed.
"We must establish our democracy." Said Andreas to himself. "But first we must be patient."
At that moment, a servant knocked on the door.
"Sir, your scheduled pupil has arrived." Said the servant.
"Very, well, send him in." replied Andreas.
Graham was led in at once.
"I am here Mr. Andreas." Said Graham.
"As usual, shall we start your lessons." Replied Andreas.
Graham nodded.
Andreas began reviewing Boudican Literature and Mathematics with Graham.
"Now how did Beowulf beat Grendel?" asked Andrea quizzing Graham.
"By ripping off, his arm." Replied Graham.
"Correct." said Andreas. "I seem you have improved."
"Even so, I still struggle with the readings." Replied Graham. "When I try to read a page, it becomes hard to focus, I was only able to pass squire education, because I studied with others, but now it has been a while, and now I am ashamed that I am slowly forgetting literature. I can remember my training and skills, for me at least, muscle memory is easier than written memory, although the teachings on magic are a whole different story."
"Graham, remember my question for you." Said Andreas.
"Yes, Mr. Steward." Replied Graham.
"Do you have the answer for my question on Democracy." Said Andreas.
"Well, sir, I like the idea of people choosing who shall rule them." Said Andreas. "I mean personally I don't see, why you asked me the question though."
"Just curious." Said Andreas, looking at Graham.
"One thing for sure." Said Graham, in a joking voice. "I hope they vote for you, instead of me, I'd say I am a half decent warrior, but warriors don't make good peace leaders, if all they did to get there was fight. At the very least, they should have educated businessmen, help them out."
"Exactly, that is why if you were voted, you would be a good leader, you recognize your short comings, and rather than ignore them, you get intelligent people to plug the gaps." Said Andreas, with excitement.
Graham was surprised.
"I guess, I can see where you are coming from." Said Graham.
After a long important conversation, Graham left happy.
Then he had a gut feeling, then smacked his face.
"I am taking a little leap of faith." Said Graham. "Oh, I may have-."
At once, something fast caught his eye, it was fast, but he was faster.
Graham saw it was an owl with an expertly bandage wing, so he followed it.
It was fast, so he had to run.
As he followed, he analyzed the owl. He saw that the brace, it needed to fly with, was made of fine thin wood, flexible enough so the owl could flap its wings.
He followed it for a while, finally going up steps.
Then it finally stopped and landed on a rock bench.
Graham had finally gotten to the place where the Owl had landed.
"There you are! Ibet." Said a girl's voice. "You flew for longer than last time, let me examine your wing."
Graham was amazed, that finally made owl wing cast, was made none other than this girl, about his age.
Graham saw the girl had dark brown, fair skin and grey eyes; she analyzed the owl's wing expertly.
"She is that smart?" thought Graham.
The girl did not notice Graham, rather analyzed her owl, then took out a book to look to for something to help her in regard to the owl.
Graham gave a small smile.
"That's- that's a neat invention for the owl." Said Graham.
https://preview.redd.it/czaal5c8tl1d1.png?width=704&format=png&auto=webp&s=00c4c4a7cc08b2ed478e3eab20a1b6b30c650f5b
The girl looked up at him from her book.
"Oh." She said surprised. "I didn't see you there, Squire."
Graham smiled.
"It is John Graham." Replied Graham.
"John?" she said. "There's too many Johns, you shall be known as Graham to me."
"Fair enough." Replied Graham. "And your name is?"
"Marjory Halliday." Said Marjory. "Daughter of the Bodeland High Steward."
Graham felt he would have trouble remembering that.
"I'll call you Jory for short." Said Graham.
Marjory crossed her arms.
"Marjory is a unique name." said Jory in a disappointed tone.
"Well, Jory sounds better." Replied Graham, smiling.
Marjory closed her book aggressively.
"Are you so forgettable, that you can't remember a name, or do you only remember the sword?" she said in a disappointed tone.
Graham was embarrassed.
"Yes, your right." Said Graham "I am very forgettable, that is why I study under the Steward, your father, I need to sharpen my mind."
Jory was surprised.
"I thought Squire's only need to sharpen their swords." Said Jory.
"Well, what I seek I need to work for, one which I need not sharper my sword, but my mind as well, to sharpen off the dullness of my mind." Said Graham.
Graham bowed before Jory, much to Jory's surprise.
"I need all the learnings, I can get." Said Graham. "Please Jory, accept me as your humble student."
Graham bowed.
Jory's cheeks went pink, but only slightly.
Graham still bowed.
Jory then grabbed him by the ear.
"Ow." Said Graham.
"You are a weird squire, boy." Said Marjory. "And it's Marjory."
"Alright, J-Marjory." Replied Graham.
"Alright then, I accept, but you have to do whatever I tell you, mister." Said Marjory.
Graham was embarrassed.
Marjory put her hand on her chin.
"Alright then, what to teach you?" Said Marjory.
Jory looked at Ibet the owl.
"Analyze Ibet's wing and tell me any observations." Ordered Marjory.
"Um, ok." Said Graham.
Graham went down on one knee and analyzed the owl's wing.
"Well, I can see you sued good leather, thin wood, very thin, like paper to bandage the wing, as well as small string." Said Graham. "And I think, is that tar?"
"Correct, you seem good with observations." Said Marjory.
"But I am a trained Boudican squire, of course, I can make observations, such are needed to win let's say a fight, especially against an armored Boudican opponent." Said Graham.
"But you see an observation, is a key to retaining information, like reading text, that is a form of information in observation." Said Marjory.
"Yeah, I know but I get headaches from reading, while I am at peace swinging my sword." Said Graham.
Marjory flicked Graham's forehead.
"Then drink tea or wear an ice pack." Said Marjory. "There is saying that practice makes perfect."
Graham still analyzed the Owl.
Marjory thought for a second.
"Why does a squire wish for the knowledge of librarians?" asked Jory.
Graham looked towards Jory to answer her question, but he was shocked to find her face so close to his.
Graham fell back a bit.
"Ugh!, you startled me, Marjory." Said Graham.
Marjory sighed.
"Are you going to answer my question or not, weirdo." Said Marjory.
Graham laughed a bit.
"Alright." Replied Graham. "But it is a long story, so sit down."
As he was explaining his reasons to her, Graham remembered how he told Steward Andreas similarly of his reasons, he then thought back to it.
He remembers the scene to a tea.
"I guess, I can see where you are coming from." Replied Graham, in regard to Andreas's question on a leader for Democracy.
Andreas stopped writing.
"Graham." Said Andreas.
"Y-yes, sir." Said Graham.
"I have a daughter who is your age." Said Andreas.
Graham stood attention, he never knew Andreas had a daughter, let alone seen her anywhere before, I mean what man would bring his daughter to his work?
"During the war, my children were scattered, dead or missing, I don't know." Said Andreas. "My youngest daughter is all I have left; she is dear to me."
"Where is he going with this?" thought Graham.
"When you and she are of age, I wish to give her to you to wed." said Andreas.
Graham was shocked.
"B-bride, but sir, you strike me as the type to be strict with whom your daughters would end up with." Said Graham
"Oh, I am strict, in that regard." Replied Andreas. "But you are an exception, you who desires to be a great hero."
Graham felt having a betrothal would be good for him, after all, Andreas's daughter would be a commoner, so any children born would be named Grahams in last name. A betrothal might set a bar to prove himself worthy, in the art of smarts, however when Andreas mentioned Graham's dream of "heroism." Graham blanked.
Why does he want to be a great hero, one as great as Naruto Uzumaki?
"Well, sir." Said Graham. "To be honest, a great hero is one who is powerful, I saw it for myself, when I was younger, I was weak, during the war, I couldn't even fight, I was stuck in a burning house, the rebels lit on fire, I was worried I would die a terrible death, but then I was saved, I saw what someone with power can do, they have the power to save, someone with power isn't weak, however I also learned one does not have power through the sword, but the mind as well."
Graham noticed Andreas eyed him suspiciously.
"But I sir, I don't want power, just for power's sake, well at least not entirely, but to have powers to save others, as I was once saved." Said Graham. "And the power of knowledge and studies to define my reasons for why I fight."
"No need to explain, all humans desire power of a kind." Said Andreas.
"Your daughter?" asked Graham. "Is-is she smart?"
"Oh, yes, quite smart, maybe too smart, she can be gentle, however she is sharp at tung at times." Said Andreas.
Graham sighed with relief.
"Then I accept." Said Graham. "I trust you, Steward."
Andreas was surprised.
"Wouldn't you want to meet first, before giving me an answer." Said Andreas.
"Steward, you have been nothing but kind to me, you have helped me with studies and overcome my dyslexia, at least a little bit." Said Graham with a small smile. "The fact you ask and accept my reasons for self-improvement, means I trust you all the more."
Andreas shook Graham's hand.
"Then it is settled then." Said Andreas.

Meanwhile, Squire John Stewart led an escort with a cartmen, with Mary and her friends.
"Mighty kind of you to escort us, Squire Stewart." Said the cartmen. "But why must you wear a helmet."
"It is no problem." Lied Stewart. "It looks cool."
Stewart was upset with Graham. He thought he would have alone time with Mary, but Graham tricked him.
Mary was distracted talking with her friends in the back cart.
Luckily, he had a helmet on because his face was fixed in a visibly angry look.
The girls in cart were talking about whatever stuff that Stewart did not care about.
Stewart then thought back to what he wanted when making cheer with Wallace and Graham.
"I said I wanted the secrets of this world." Thought Stewart.
Stewart thought more, what he said was a bit of an exaggeration.
He when he was talking about secrets, he more or less meant like intriguing secrets like "Why are we here." "Why do things have such order to them, and yet pure chaos at times."
Or his favorite question, "Why is there something, rather than nothing." A question by a philosopher.
The answer to this question is "It is."
Stewart wanted to think more about the questions, perhaps the mystery of said secrets make them more the enjoyable to interpret, then just given a straight answer.
Then Stewart remembered what Wallace told him all that time back.
"I must be focused, especially when I am on duty." Thought Stewart to himself.
"Hey, Squire!" said one of Mary's friends.
Stewart turned his head.
"Yeah!" replied Stewart.
"So, what did Wallace actually do during the battle, you know instead of fight?" asked the girl.
"Martha!" protested Mary Graham. "Why must you ask a question."
"He did fight!" said Stewart. "He slew many more bandits then either me or Graham."
"Be honest, did he force you to say that." Said Martha. "I mean he is a scary monster right."
"Nope." Replied Stewart.
"I agree, Martha." Said another girl. "He is probably lying, after all it must be hard on this boy, having the traitor as a superior."
Other girls nodded in agreement.
"Enough, girls." Cried Mary. "We are here to enjoy the festival, not talk about negative things, do you really want to sour the mood."
The girls looked at each other.
"Well." Said Martha. "I guess you're right."
"One thing before we stop talking, a word of advice." Said Stewart. "William Wallace is better person than all of you combined, and you would be wise to not hate him, rather forgive him like the Boudican Church has."
The girl crossed her arms without after that.
"Mr. Oneil, when do we get to the festival." Asked one of the girls to diffuse the situation.
"Oh, just a little while." Said Oneil, embarrassed by the argument in the back.
There was silence on the ride, Stewart was soured, but hid it under his helmet.
However, for some reason, he felt a little relieved in his mind.
