Aww, cripes. I didn't know I'd have to write a description. How many words is that so far, like a hundred? Soooo, yeah. Mildly interesting stuff. Stuff that interests you. Mildly. It's in the name, ffs.

2024.05.21 16:29 YouMissedNVDA Could a 6MT owner do me a huge favour?

Do you have the second tuned mass dampers (TMD) circled in red?
I was driving quite spiritedly, and heard a clunk at the rear, and now I hear and feel a new rumble on hard acceleration coming from the rear axle. Performance is unchanged, tight figure 8s in a parking lot were fine, no binding or other weird behavior. And LSD is still LS - minimal slip on 1-2 pulls.
My theory is I knocked off that second TMD, which is rated at 190 hz. The first TMD located right behind (in front in the picture) of the diff cooling fins is still there, and that is a 49 hz.
For the life of me I cannot find much discussion on the second TMD - I did find a 6mt review video on a lift (car care gurus), and after some CSI-level enhancing of freeze frames, either the 6MT didn't come with the second TMD, or theirs had fallen off too (it is a test vehicle for reviews, so not impossible that cumulative reviewer driving also knocked it off).
If you could take a peak and confirm or deny if that second TMD is on your 6MT, that would be a huge help. For those who have that TMD, auto or manual, if you could see how the hell it is attached to the rear subframe that would be even more helpful.
Thanks.

2024.05.21 16:26 Comprehensive-Eye754 Fenty Campaign Participant Remorse.

I apologize in advance if this is a repeat of a similar post. That wasn’t my intention. I want to know if I’m alone. Influenster ran the Fenty Tinted moisturizer campaign in such a thoughtless way. Influenster literally sent all of us the same “Free Product” alert without making it transparent how to choose a shade. There are too many skin tones to run this campaign as if it was bingo. I’m writing this because I just did my review on Sephora, I saw so many people with shades, that I feel they never would’ve chosen, if they were aware it wouldn’t work for them. A survey and shade guide prior to the launch would’ve made this so much better. I did get my shade which is 9. I feel awful for those that were experiencing the glitch that wouldn’t allow them to see a picture or shade number. This was an issue I heard about and it sucks. I feel a bit of guilt for getting a product that so many people received and can’t enjoy. It’s a double edge sword because those that actually are the correct tone have missed out on a good product. Fenty isn’t going to get quality reviews with this product. It’s too difficult to fully review if you’re really a 3 but revived a 10 due to rushing to claim the secret item. Influenster…wow, just wow.

2024.05.21 16:24 vinz_reddit DL/LLM/Gaming Build Optimization

Hi everyone,
Been a shadow follower of this Sub for some time. Thank you to all who are able to help me or just take an interest.
PC Parts List https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LCkjVW Note: I already bought the NVIDIA 4080 FE as it was such a rarity to find it in the first place. Also, I have a 1TB Gen3 Crucial P3 SSD already for storage
Purpose: Hosting production LLMs / Deep Learning / Gaming Target Price: $2,000 ± 100
Wanted your help on the following
  1. Replacing parts with lower priced parts which won't compromise on the performance
  2. Any improvement suggestions people who have experience with LLMs and hosting
I am from India and the current setup is kind of pricey.
EDIT: Adding in some main consideration points for the august audience here
  1. z790m from Gigabyte - it has 12+2 VRM instead of 16+2 on the ATX - how much of an impact will that have? Any owner reviews as there are no reviews I found for this online. Its added due to low cost and Gigabyte branding
  2. z790 requirement - going for z790 only because I will be doing light overclock/undervolt and some memory/GPU overclocking - you can say the nerd in me wants to play and optimize - this will be my first system
  3. RAM - I think 64GB is probably required here (maybe more?) but open to cheaper if you think 6000 MT/s is overkill
  4. SSD Requirement - SSD added here will be the primary bootdrive - I already have one for storage and can get more later - MSI seemed to be a great write speed/$ so added that - Open to other brands and maybe 512GB
  5. Power Requirement - Power costs are high so will going for a 14700f on b760 be better - and will that impact my target purpose much - that would also be a little cheaper
  6. PSU - What will be the right wattage? Am I spending too much?
  7. Cabinet - Phanteks XT Pro Ultra - good bang for the buck and Tom's hardware recommends it but open to other cheaper options there too - has 3.2*2 front USB and 4 140mm fans included so wow

2024.05.21 16:15 Rambooctpuss RYM Greatest Albums Of All Time: #151-Megadeth-Rust In Peace (1990)

RYM Greatest Albums Of All Time: #151-Megadeth-Rust In Peace (1990)
Megadeth-Rust In Peace
Megadeth always felt like Metallica’s lil brother even though in my eyes they have had just as much of an impact on the metal scene. Dave Mustaine knows how to write a heavy melodic groove and he is unapologetic in his beliefs and integrity of metal music. Some people complain about his voice but I always like it. Rust In Peace is considered their best album. I prefer their second album Peace Sells. Maybe someday we will get around and talk about that one. I am just happy a greatest album list includes metal music as lists like the Rolling Stone and Apple completely disregard the genre.
The album opens with “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due” right away that heavy dense Megadeth sound blasts out onto your speakers. The song is inspired by the Northern Ireland movement to break away from the UK. the song is also inspired by the Marvel Character The Punisher. “Hangar 18” has the chop[y fast riff that encompasses the whole song. The song of course is about the mysterious base in Arizona that is supposed to house UFOs. The chorus is one of the catchiest the band will ever record. This is top tier Megadeth. “Take No Prisoners” has this heavy dense speed metal groove. It is just unrelenting in its heaviness, a perfect title for this track. I think Take No Prisoners, Take No Shit is Mustaine’s mantra. “Five Magics” is one of the few times that Megadeth have ventured into fantasy lyrically. David Ellefson has some great bass lines on this track. “Poison Was The Cure '' tackles Mustiane’s alcohol and heroin addiction. “Lucretia” is about a ghost that lived in Mustaine attic who he would visit every night. It has these high end guitar tones that I love. “Tornado Of Souls” is about the breakup between Mustaine and his then fiance. Marty Friedman has one of the great metal guitar solos ever on this track. “Dawn Patrol” is a quick, dense track. Mustaine's voice is as low as it could possibly go and Elfefson bass and drummer Menza rhythms rule this track. The album closes with “Rust In Peace ...Polaris” addresses one of the band’s favorite topics: Nuclear destruction. Polaris is a type of nuclear missile. The title was inspired by a bumper sticker Munstaine saw that said may all your Nuclear weapons rust in peace.
If I am going to put together Metal albums everyone should listen to I am going to put this one near the top of that list. It deserves all the praise it gets plus more. These early Megadeth albums were so amazing. They hold up decades later. Metallica might get all the acclaim but Megadeth deserves credit of maintaining the workmen like consistency to the the thrash metal genre.

2024.05.21 16:02 Popheads100Throwback [2 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS CELEBRATION] Announcing the Top 100 Tracks of 2014, according to r/popheads

Popheads recently reached the 2 million subscriber milestone, thanks to your continued participation and support!
We wanted to celebrate, and tried to think of fun things that we could do as a subreddit. A well loved Popheads activity has always been our yearly Top 100 lists, where the community comes together to vote to create a list of our favorite 100 songs of the past year. The list reveal is always fun and one of my personal favorite days of the year, and these lists honestly provide a great representation of our community - a snapshot of our own personal taste, if you will.
Therefore, for this subscriber milestone, we will be doing another Popheads Top 100…but this time, of a throwback year: 2014!!!
2014 was chosen for two reasons: one, the obvious, is that this year is the tenth anniversary of that year. The second is that the annual Popheads Top 100 actually started with the year 2015, so 2014 is the most recent year without “coverage”, so to speak. (If this is a success, we would love to repeat this for other years - 2013, 2012, even earlier!)
Without further ado, the rules for participation are below.

How To Participate

NOTE: Thank you so much to raicicle, whose posts for the annual Popheads Top 100 form the basis of this post!
Like with our normal years, you can also vote in the entirely non-official just-for-fun survey: “What song would you remove a vote from?” You can fill that in optionally here even if you don’t submit an official ballot.

I. How To Send In Your Song Votes

Make a list of your favorite songs released in 2014 (January 1st 2014 - December 31st 2014). This list should have a minimum of 10 songs and a maximum of 25 songs. Please see II. Song Eligibility for more details on what you can and can't submit.
There are always some weird discrepancies and edge-cases every year, so please DM us if you have any queries or post them in this thread to let people know!
We can be DM'ed here at this account, or at our personal Discord or Reddit accounts (@ bigbigbee a.k.a bigbigbee ; @ trailblazer_l a.k.a prettybirbkotori ; @ haobinist a.k.a MoonlightByWindow ; @ haobinfan a.k.a runaway1312 ).
And here's a few more important guidelines.

II. Song Eligibility

Your song must have been first officially available between the dates of January 1st 2014 and December 31st 2014. What does 'first officially available' mean? In essence, legally available to stream (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc.) or buy online.
If you are unsure on a song's eligibility, please use this thread to clarify or DM us and we’ll be happy to help.
If you would like a reminder of what songs were released in 2014, feel free to have a peruse through these links:

III. How We Will Make The Final Top 100 List

To make life easier for everyone involved, as was previously mentioned, you do not have to rank your song choices. Every submission counts as one vote, and the list is simply the 100 songs that got the most submissions in order. There are however caveats to this:
An artist will never have more than 3 songs on the list. Even if after the initial vote an artist manages to have 6 songs numerically in the Top 100, only the top 3 of those will be added. This is an editorial decision, based on the fact that it seems more popular to feature as many different artists as possible and showcase the breadth of the sub's music taste rather than dedicate huge chunks of the list to one artist, or one album (sorry 1989 fans!).
It is inevitable that many songs will get the same number of votes. Songs with the same number of votes will appear alphabetically in the list, but we will make the number of votes that every song received public. There may be some weird stuff happening if the list doesn’t end up being exactly 100 songs long, in which case there may be some discretional tie-breaks.

IV. Writeups

The final list will be presented as a Pitchfork-style Top 100 with small writeups to bring some insight and a bit of a story to the song. If you’ve been around for the yearly top songs lists, then you are likely familiar with the process.
We'll be writing the Top 15 to keep it under wraps. The remaining 85 songs will be given to other guest writers! If you feel like you’re a good writer and you’re interested, just mention it when you send in your list (we will assume that you're interested in writing for one of the tracks that you submitted in your votes).
Write-ups will ideally be 4-6 sentences long, though shorter or longer is completely fine**.** Feel free to talk about anything - its chart performance, its composition, your personal experience with the song, etc. There is no perfect writeup - this list is a collection of our thoughts as a community, not an official list from a music publication!
You can also message any of us on our personal Discord or Reddit accounts as listed above (Discord is slightly preferable) if you’re interested – we will try our best to find a writeup for you if possible!
In choosing to do writeups, you inevitably find out whether a song has made it onto the list to write for it, but to keep the surprise as much as possible, we will not tell you the position of the song if we send you a song to write for.
To get the general gist of what these writeups will be like, feel free to have a look at 2022’s Top 100 list.

V. The List Reveal

The list will be revealed on Sunday, July 7th, 2024 (exact time TBD). The live reveal will be on Queup https://www.queup.net/join/top-100-of-2014, where all 100 songs will be played in order from #100 to #1; as each song goes out, its write-up will be posted to a post on the subreddit.

2024.05.21 15:55 Luck9599 Additions to future F1 games (*long post alert*)

Hello everyone
With F1 24 being announced and being copy and paste again (basically just an F1 23 DLC at this point), I thought I'd write this post to maybe, just maybe, help (in any way) the next future F1 games become more realistic, which I think should be the main goal of these games (and also to express my deep disapointment with how the series is going).
Before we begin: this is completely based on my opinion, you don't need to agree with me, specially because I know some stuff may be considered completely delusional, as EA would never implement these things. With that out of the way, it's light out and away we go.
Here are additions/ideas that would turn the F1 game into an incredible experience:
As you guys can see, all these additions would be more oriented towards realism. I addressed changes to career mode and MyTeam, since those are the only modes I really play, but I know that online modes are in need of some changes as well.
Please feel free to comment what you think as well :D

2024.05.21 15:54 nxnje Celest Relentless Review (IEM)

Celest Relentless Review (IEM)
TL:DR for those who have no time nor willingness to read the full review:
PROS CONS
Full-bodied and textured low-end, lots of details and great treble extension, fun and engaging tuning, nice overall timbre being a planar (except for a small touch of BA timbre) Lower mids could be thicker, the treble is pretty bright and there’s a slight touch of BA timbre along with occasional sibilance
Great imaging and spacious soundstage along with nice instrument separation Thick shells won’t be everyone
They scale well if connected to a proper source with some amplification They are not hard to drive but having a good source is highly recommended
Build quality and design show lots of attention to details Tough competition (planar sets and single DD champs)
Thick yet comfortable shells that provide for very nice isolation
Wide set of tips provided in the box
Nice cable with modular plug (3.5mm + 4.4mm jacks)

INTRODUCTION

Celest, a sub-brand of Kinera, is broadening its range with a new addition called Relentless. Initially, there was some confusion with the Pandamon 2.0, but the distinct driver configuration and the released photos of both products have since clarified the differences. In this review, I will delve into the details of this set and share my personal take on each aspect of the product.
Disclaimer: the Celest Relentless were sent to me by HiFiGO so that I could write an honest review. This review represents my personal opinion on the set, it isn’t a promotional or paid content and I don’t get any revenue from the sales of this product. At the time of the review, the Celest Relentless were on sale for $169.99 at HiFiGO$.

DESIGN, BUILD QUALITY, COMFORT AND ISOLATION

The Celest Relentless are pretty big and thick and look amazing thanks to the coloured and refined design of the faceplate. The build quality is great, they are pretty lightweight for the size and the nozzle is neither too long nor too short, sporting a useful nozzle lip (which is good news).

CABLE

The cable is very good and it also looks durable, even though this is nothing to be surprised by considering the price range. If there’s a thing that makes this cable great, then it is the modular plug: by unscrewing the 3.5mm jack, one can swap it with the 4.4mm jack included in the box, providing for more versatility if a balanced output is needed/preferred.
Other than this, nothing new: we find the usual chin slider and no microphone control on the cable.

SOUND

GEAR USED FOR THE TEST
  • DAC: Topping E30
  • AMP: Topping L30, Fiio A3
  • Mobile phones: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Xiaomi Mi A3, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
  • Moondrop May’s DSP cable with PEQ=0
  • Dongle: Apple Type-C dongle, Fosi DS2
  • Portable DAPs: Benjie S8/AGPTEK M30B
  • Other sources: Presonus AudioBox iONE, Elgato Wave XLR, KZ AZ10
Do they need an amplifier?
An amplifier is not strictly needed but it’s recommended. The Relentless scale pretty well and pair well with warm sources due to their bright nature.
Sound signature
The Celest Relentless follow a bright V-shaped signature with some treble emphasis and a low-end shelf. If you are looking for a Harman tuned set, you should probably skip this one.
  • Lows The sub-bass is controlled but it doesn’t rumble a lot: it’s a very clean sub-bass that won’t probably suit the average basshead’s tastes, but every other listener will not find it lacking. The focus is on the midbass, even though this is not super emphasized either: it has good textures, good punch and nice speed, but the combination between the controlled sub-bass and the emphasized treble makes it a bit less forward than it looks on graphs. Overall it’s a well done low-end for most genres, but those looking for the most punchy and full bodied bass out there will probably need to keep searching.
  • Mids The mids are recessed, so those who are on the market for a mid-centric IEM should probably look elsewhere. The leaner-than-average midbass sometimes struggles to give more warmth and depth to male vocals, although most of the time they still sound nice (yet not really “natural”). The upper midrange is instead forward (at the right point) and somewhat intense, with energetic female vocals and rich violins/electric guitar notes, even though some episodes of sibilance may occur if the tracks are prone to that (this is because of the combination between the upper midrange glare, a slight dip and then a treble boost). The instruments are generally well separated, the layering is good and it really seems like the Relentless are not afraid of busy and crowded tracks, except for some cases.
  • Highs The highs are bright and pack a lot of details, and the treble emphasis provides for a very open sound even though this also means that the Relentless should be avoided by those who are sensitive to treble. For sure, this is one of the IEMs that shine in the treble extension under 200$ (hands down) even though for some genres this may also be a hit or miss because of some particular sounds (i.e. if you listen to a lot of metal, some cymbals may be somewhat aggressive for prolonged use) and for a touch of BA timbre.
The soundstage is pretty wide and has good depth although height is just average. The imaging is very good, with instruments being well pinpointed and separated, this also thanks to the very good treble extension.
How the stock tips impact the sound signature:
  • Celest 221 Vocal Eartips (black): more emphasized treble, airier vocals and instruments, more sibilance
  • Celest 608 Balanced (Red): more balanced, a bit less airy and slightly bassier but less fatiguing than the 221
  • Foam tips: best balance between treble, bass impact and vocals and there is also less sibilance than on 608 and 221. Probably the best choice of the set.

Some comparisons:

Celest Relentless vs Simgot EM6L
Price is quite different yet both are hybrids placed between 100$ and 200$. The Relentless have a more robust and more textured the low-end (especially in the midbass region), whereas the EM6L have a richer midrange and more natural male vocals; female vocals, instead, sound more detailed and energetic on the Relentless yet a bit more natural and intimate on the EM6L. Both are kinda bright on top but the treble extension is better on the Relentless, even though the EM6L provide for a slightly smoother transition between the upper midrange and the lower midrange (with less occasions of sibilance). The timbre is nice on both but the EM6L sound a bit more natural, while the Relentless are less accurate from a timbrical perspective yet more fun and technical to listen to, with slightly better instrument separation and a more expansive soundstage. The imaging is not that different and the EM6L compete pretty well in this regard, even though the Relentless have more space to place everything properly and feels more “holographic”. When it comes to the build quality, accessories, cable and isolation, it’s an easy win for the Relentless, even though the smaller size of the EM6L may be better for some people out there.
Celest Relentless vs Celest Phoenixcall
Different driver configuration yet same company and similar price bracket: ok, let’s do it. The Relentless are brighter but they somehow feel less “thin” in the treble and sound more appealing and “correct” from a timbrical standpoint. In fact, the sub-bass extension is better on the Relentless and provides for a fuller and more engaging sound. The midbass is very good on both sets but the Relentless have better bass textures and better body, whereas the Phoenixcall compete with slightly faster transients when it comes to rapid basslines. The midrange is recessed on both sets but the Relentless do better in terms of vocals: the fuller low-end makes sure that male vocals don’t disappear and the smoother upper midrange emphasis gives more body and energy to female vocals (they sounded thinner and less natural on the Phoenixcall due to the earlier emphasis followed by a dip). The detail retrieval is very good on both sets too, but the Relentless are more proficient and pack a better treble extension (they also cost more, so it was expected). Soundstage is wider and deeper on the Relentless, whereas the height is similar. Imaging is better on the Relentless. The Relentless come with a slightly more versatile cable, but when it comes to build quality, isolation and comfort, they are comparable (even though the smaller shells of the Phoenixcall will appeal to more people).
Celest Relentless vs Simgot EA1000
Not really fair to compare a hybrid setup with a single DD set, but let’s try anyway. In terms of timbre/tonality, bass body/depth and vocals, there’s no competition: the EA1000 just sound like a more mature set. From a technical perspective, though, the Relentless compete quite well: the sub-bass has better extension, the bass is very speedy and it’s well textured (yet not as full bodied as on the EA1000), there’s lots of detail, the treble extension is very good (eveN though slightly less natural than on the EA1000) and both imaging and soundstage are slightly more clinical than on the EA1000. It’s unfair to compare these since the EA1000 avoid any incoherence that could come from the usage of different drivers, but it’s also true that the Relentless is not getting completely destroyed (which is good news). I would still pick the EA1000 hands down (it’s a more natural set with much better bass quality, richer mids and they also have that effortless way to reproduce every track correctly) but the Relentless really show Celest’s ability to keep up with proficient driver implementations. Anyways, the target is slightly different: those who want a single DD IEM will still pick a single DD IEM and those who search for a hybrid will only want that. When it comes to cable, accessories and isolation, the Relentless win hands down, whereas the EA1000 look like a slightly more premium set and come in a smaller-sized shell.

Final Thoughts

After the so-so Pandamon 2.0, Celest managed to score a very nice goal. The Celest Relentless are yet another proof that Celest know how to properly fit and implement different drivers without actually killing the overall cohesiveness. For sure, there is still room for improvement (i.e. the occasional sibilance and the slight touch of BA timbre), but the overall sound is pleasant and smooth for a hybrid configuration and the technical performance is up to the expectations for a 150$-200$ hybrid set. It will be hard to recommend these to those who don’t like bright IEMs or V-shaped tunings, but except for those people everyone else will find the Relentless a fun and technically proficient IEM that will provide for very engaging and musical listening sessions.

2024.05.21 15:51 terryleewhite What's New in the May 2024 Lightroom Release?

What's New in the May 2024 Lightroom Release?
Hi everyone, Terry White from Adobe here, and I'm happy to share the news about today's Adobe Photography Release (May 2024). There are updates across the Lightroom Ecosystem to include Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom on Mobile, and Lightroom on Web.
Today, we are introducing a groundbreaking feature in Lightroom-Generative Remove, powered by Firefly. This innovative tool allows you to effortlessly eliminate distractions from your photos with a single brush stroke, all without the need to switch to Photoshop.
We've also improved Lens Blur (which was in Early Access), making it easier than ever to control the depth of field in your photos with professional results.

Easily remove distractions with Generative Remove (early access)

Available on Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS & Android), Lightroom for web, and Adobe Camera Raw
https://i.redd.it/axpim9fmas1d1.gif
With Generative Remove, powered by Firefly, you can easily remove unwanted objects and distractions, even on complex backgrounds, in just a few simple steps.
Distractions can ruin an otherwise great photo. Generative Remove allows you to quickly remove them with realistic, high-quality results.
Generative Remove uses Firefly technology to intelligently fill the photo behind removed items. The results on complex backgrounds are particularly impressive, like matching a detailed wallpaper pattern or the fabric on a plaid shirt. Lightroom will even give you a few variations to choose from so you'll have full creative control in picking the one you like best.
\Note that the previous "Heal" tool is now called "Remove." You'll find Generative Remove within the Remove tool, accessible via a toggle on Lightroom mobile or a check box on Lightroom for web, Lightroom Classic, and Lightroom.*
Generative Remove is powered by Firefly Image 1 Model and is available today as an early access feature to Lightroom paid plan subscribers across the Lightroom ecosystem via mobile, desktop, iPad, web and Classic.

Get a pro-quality background blur with AI-powered Lens Blur

Available on Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS & Android), Lightroom for web, and Adobe Camera Raw
https://i.redd.it/h43ibvxnas1d1.gif
Our improved Lens Blur uses the power of AI to map the foreground and background of your image to apply a pro-quality blur effect. Blur busy backgrounds to make your portraits pop, add a dramatic blur to nature photos to make the greenery stand out, or get a dreamy, blurred background from a sparkling city skyline at night.
With the interactive and flexible controls of Lens Blur, you can play around with the blur amount, change the shape of the light points or "bokeh," and customize the area you want to blur using the focus range tool.
This new release of Lens Blur includes better subject detection, the ability to create custom presets, and batch editing capabilities. Please note that the latter two features are coming soon to Android devices.

Get the perfect blur effect in a click with new Lens Blur Adaptive Presets

Available on Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS & Android), Lightroom for web, and Adobe Camera Raw
Today, we also introduce a set of brand-new adaptive presets for Lens Blur that use AI technology to apply a blur effect that's tailor-made to your photo. Presets are great for quickly finding the perfect blur look without having to dig into fine-tuned edits.
You can choose from seven Blur Background adaptive presets that change the shape and style of the blur in the background: Subtle, Strong, Circle, Bubble, Geometric, Ring, or Swirl.
After you pick a preset, you can adjust the strength of the blur with the amount slider or customize the effect further by using the Lens Blur tool controls.

What else is new in the latest Lightroom release

We've also made several updates across the Lightroom ecosystem that give you more creative control and flexibility when working on your photos and videos.
Enjoy Sony tethering support
Available in Lightroom Classic on the latest Sony digital cameras such as the Alpha 7 IV and Alpha 7R V – for a full list see here.
See your images on a big screen as soon as you click the camera shutter. We're expanding support for tethering by adding the latest Sony digital cameras so you can photograph directly into Lightroom Classic, saving precious time on your workflow. It's now even easier to review photo details, edit in real-time, and collaborate with on-set production teams and clients.
For a full list of all newly supported cameras in Lightroom see this page.
Easily move cloud files to your local drive
Available on Lightroom
At last year's Adobe MAX conference, we introduced local storage for Lightroom — the option to work with your photos and videos in Lightroom without having to import or sync them to the cloud.
With this release, it's now easier to move or archive your photos off the Lightroom Cloud and store them on your computer's internal drive, an external drive, or a local server. This is great when you want to free up space on the cloud, or for file management such as archiving past projects to a local drive.
You can select multiple files within an album, or an entire album to move to your local drive. Lightroom will ask what folder structure you'd like to use, so you can preserve the album structure locally as you move it off the cloud. This is especially useful if you have a high volume of photos and are working with numerous files at a time.
Edit videos with the Tone Curve
Available on Lightroom
You can now edit videos in Lightroom using Tone Curve. This graph-based tool enables you to fine-tune a video's brightness and contrast by simply dragging the curve control points up or down. For example, if a point on the tone curve is moved up, it becomes a lighter tone; if it is moved down, it becomes darker.
Create and play slideshows in Lightroom
Available on Lightroom
Lightroom now has a slideshow feature so you can display selected photos from your library in a slideshow format — a great way to share edits with clients, family, or friends.

Performance, reliability, and workflow enhancements to Lightroom Classic

We've also made the following improvements to Lightroom Classic, so that it performs smoothly and enables you to work more efficiently:
  • Improved cloud syncing: Images in your Lightroom Cloud will now more reliably match what you see in your Classic catalog and vice versa
  • Smoother image navigation in Develop: We've improved the responsiveness and navigation experience in Develop along with better caching
  • Optimized preview management: We have re-architected the way we generate and store previews, resulting in a much smoother experience
  • Filter by exported images: You can now filter for files by their export status and create a smart collection showing what's been exported
  • Search support for new metadata: We've introduced new capabilities to search and create smart collections by alt text, extended descriptions, and images edited with Remove or Point Color

Watch a Demo

I created a video showing off these features that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/0VP7vhIfdYE
We are also LIVE on Adobe Live starting at 9AM PT/12 Noon ET here: https://www.behance.net/live/videos/23345/From-Ordinary-to-Extraordinary-Live-Lightroom-Editing-with-Professional-Photographers

Try out the new features from today.

You can download the latest features and enhancements today on Lightroom for mobile from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Samsung Galaxy Store. Try the Lightroom app for free by going to the app store on your mobile phone.
Lightroom for web features are available at lightroom.adobe.com and no download is required. Lightroom for desktop can be downloaded via the Creative Cloud Desktop app. To learn more about these updates, check out the What's New pages for Lightroom and Lightroom Classic.
Disclaimer: Generative Remove in Lightroom is available to all Creative Cloud members with a subscription or trial that includes Lightroom. Generative Remove is not available in China.

Our commitment to AI ethics and principles

Adobe is committed to developing AI in accordance with the company's AI Ethics principles of accountability, responsibility, and transparency. As AI becomes more prevalent in content creation, Adobe believes that it is important to provide consumers with transparency about its use in the creative process. A recent study from Adobe showed that 76% of U.S. consumers emphasized the importance of knowing if online content is generated using AI. When Generative Remove becomes generally available, Content Credentials will be automatically attached to photos edited with the feature in Lightroom. Like a "nutrition label" for digital content, Content Credentials are tamper-evident metadata that can provide important information about how content was created, modified and published.
Content Credentials are built on the C2PA open standard and supported by the Adobe-led Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), which was founded in 2019 to increase trust in the digital ecosystem. Today, the CAI has grown into a global coalition of over 3,000 members across tech, policy, media companies, creative professionals, researchers and more, all working together to add transparency to digital content.
As always, let us know if you have any questions in the comments. Cheers! Happy Lightroom Day.

2024.05.21 15:38 neverumbrella [0 YOE] Do I include an internship that I just started on my resume, and if so, any bullet points?

Just a question before I post my resume: I just started a 4 months DevOps internship, but I am done with school so looking to apply to jobs right now to start in September. I'm looking for a SWE position ideally but my resume is kind of weak. Because I just started at this job, I have just been onboarding and haven't really done much, so I'm not sure how that should look on my resume as I don't have much bullet point material. I do have a few projects that I've been assigned to and have started working on now that I could talk about, but I haven't actually done anything concrete with them yet so I'm not sure if that's appropriate to include.
I have one previous internship on my resume from Summer 2022 that was in Test Automation Development (QA). If I don't have a lot to write about the DevOps position, I can also include a Performance Test Analyst internship from 2021, but otherwise I'd probably just leave it off.
I know my experience is kind of shitty, but I have to write something, so any suggestions would be appreciated!

2024.05.21 15:25 Ghost-Quartet Happy 120th Birthday to Fats Waller - A look at the music and legacy of one of pop's greatest entertainers

https://facts.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/15-facts-about-fats-waller-1689249690.jpg
This is a subreddit primarily focused on modern pop music, but for his 120th birthday I want to take a moment to remember one of the most iconic pop acts in American history:

Thomas Wright "Fats" Waller

A jazz pianist, a singer, and a prolific songwriter famous for his ability to jump onstage and "lift up the band," Fats Waller was a regular fixture of the nightlife scene in New York (an important figure of the legendary Harlem Renaissance) and toured his act all around the country in addition to working as a recording artist in the budding record industry.
In a way, he was one of America's first pop stars- a musical prodigy who dropped out of high school, broke into the music industry when he was a teen, sold tons of records, and developed a huge onstage persona and lived a hard partying lifestyle. We've heard that story a million times, but Fats did it first.
An often repeated story about him recounts a shocking incident where gangster Al Capone kidnapped him off the street to force him to play at a birthday party, because everybody wanted to party with Fats Waller! A less repeated story is this one I found in an NPR article that describes him selling eight of his original songs in exchange for eight hamburgers, which he then consumed in a single sitting.
So certainly, a larger than life figure.

The Records

His legacy as a founding figure of America's pop scene extends to a place you might not expect: back in 1926, he signed a recording contract with the Victor Talking Machine Company, one of the earliest manufacturers and distributors of phonographs and records, which would be bought out by the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) in 1929. Then in 1968, the company would be renamed... RCA Records!
RCA is still a powerful record label today and it's partially thanks to Fats, who was a big moneymaker for them in the early days of the record industry when they were literally selling records.
Over the course of his twenty five year career, he copyrighted around five hundred recordings- supposedly, the label would send him into a recording booth with bunches of sheet music bought from Tin Pan Alley composers and he would rearrange them on the spot to give them that special Fats Waller touch!
But he's best remembered for his skills as a pianist and, most importantly, his songwriting skills. I want to take a moment to highlight that because I firmly believe he's one of the greatest songwriters in history- many of his hits have been accepted as standards and are still in rotation with jazz singers today.

The Music

You might have heard his song "Ain't Misbehavin'," which became something of his signature song after he performed it in the landmark film Stormy Weather (1943), and it's the perfect encapsulation of his style. A clever piano line, a catchy melody, a touch of humor, and a lot of heart. It's just timeless music.
I know for certain / The one I love
I'm through with flirtin' / It's just you I'm thinkin' of
Ain't misbehavin' / Saving my love for you (for you)
(And you) (And you)
There's a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor to the song that's signature Fats- in addition to the lyrics he wrote, he was known to improv and throw new jokes in on the fly during live performances.
We're lucky enough to have footage of him performing "Your Feets Too Big" (another one of his signature numbers where he chastises a woman for, you guessed it, her foot size) and you can just see the charisma oozing off of him as he banters with the band and makes eyes at the camera. All while playing the piano too!
And he was no innocent either, often lacing his songs with innuendo that will shatter any illusions you have about old music being overly conservative. Take, for example, Hattie Noel's recording of "Find Out What They Like," which begins with a disclaimer that the song is "strictly about home cooking" before she sings this:
Find out what he likes / And how he likes it
Go on and give it to him just that way
Give it to him when he wants it / And any time he wants it
And don't you have a single word to say!
He was often performing in nightclubs and bars, which meant he knew how to get the crowd going- "The Joint Is Jumpin'" is the quintessential 1920s party anthem, with the title referring to a secret code phrase that bootleggers would use during the prohibition era to let people know that a party had illegal alcohol. The jaunty music he wrote did a lot to get people on the dance floors as well!
But though he's associated with lively entertainment, there was some grit beneath all that as well. Despite his success, Waller was still a black man living in early 20th century America, and he channelled that into legendary "Black and Blue" (a hit for Louis Armstrong) which is considered by some to be one of the first jazz protest songs:
I'm white inside, but that don't help my case / 'Cause I can't hide what is in my face
How would it end? Ain't got a friend / My only sin is in my skin
What did I do to be so black and blue?
Whatever the occasion, Fats had a song for it.

The End

But like a lot of great artists, Fats had his troubles. He was known for his hard partying lifestyle and frequent money problems that pushed him to be constantly working, and he would tragically pass away in 1943 from pneumonia while on tour.
The man was only 39 years old at the time, but as of today his legacy officially stretches 120 years! So spin a record today for Fats Waller, and get the joint jumpin' in his memory.
If you'd like to hear more of his music, I'd strongly recommend setting aside ninety minutes to watch the Broadway musical Ain't Misbehavin' because it's an incredible piece of theatre that showcases his music spectacularly. Diana Ross & The Supremes did an adorable tribute to him on The Ed Sullivan Show that's worth a watch too.
Any other Fats Waller fans in the sub? What are some of your favorite recordings of his songs?

2024.05.21 15:21 Lili_Danube Diane Lane is a beautiful actress but almost none of her performances leave a major impression. You remember her beauty but you don't really leave impressed by her acting.

The only time I felt she was very good was in Unfaithful but in almost everything I've seen her in is like "yeah she's really pretty" and that's that.
Something about Diane Lane gives a Ice Queen vibe. Even in the romcoms she did, there's a hesitancy, a forcedness that doesn't ring true. You like her because she's pretty but you don't warm up to her like a Sandra Bullock or a Julia Roberts. There's a charisma factor.
And in the 80s, she wasn't a very good actress. I mean, her performance in The Cotton Club was HORRIBLE. It felt like a teenager playing dress up. And that movie she did, Touched by Love, should have ended her career with how bad she was in it. It says a lot when Deborah Raffin manages to out-act you.
She got better in the 90s but not by much. She was okay in A Walk in the Moon which she got good reviews for. I still think Anna Paquin was better than her in that movie.
A actress that is similar to her but is a much better actress, the highly underrated Mary Elizabeth Manstrantonio.

2024.05.21 15:15 vinz_reddit Needs Optimization for Price

EDIT: Adding in some main consideration points for the august audience here 1. z790m from Gigabyte - it has 12+2 VRM instead of 16+2 on the ATX - how much of an impact will that have? Any owner reviews as there are no reviews I found for this online. Its added due to low cost and Gigabyte branding 2. z790 requirement - going for z790 only because I will be doing light overclock/undervolt and some memory/GPU overclocking - you can say the nerd in me wants to play and optimize - this will be my first system 3. RAM - I think 64GB is probably required here (maybe more?) but open to cheaper if you think 6000 MT/s is overkill 4. SSD Requirement - SSD added here will be the primary bootdrive - I already have one for storage and can get more later - MSI seemed to be a great write speed/$ so added that - Open to other brands and maybe 512GB 5. Power Requirement - Power costs are high so will going for a 14700f on b760 be better - and will that impact my target purpose much - that would also be a little cheaper 6.

2024.05.21 15:13 aLittlePheonix1 25 [M4F] Europe/Anywhere - Together forever?

Hello!
I am looking for a person with whom we can connect with and build a relationship together. Befriend each other from the start, spend time together, have new experiences, be it new to both or teach each other different things. Nerd out about stuff we like, support each other and slowly build our own world. The end goal that I envision and would love to achieve is just some basic, yet, intimate moments, that I believe both would enjoy, like:
There's more of course, but generally moments like these are the end goal. In short. the end goal is a romantic lifelong relationship.
About hobbies, I have a lot of hobbies and interests. My main hobbies would be working out, I'm a gym rat, I love working out. Gaming, I enjoy playing video games, board games, just games in general during my free time. Watching videos, streams, shows, movies, anime. I watch Youtube daily. a lot of different stuff. I enjoy watching true crime, like JCS, cam footage, documentaries and etc., games, reviews, news, memes and honestly, pretty much everything, mostly just go off of recommended or something I was waiting for. Besides videos, I mainly watch anime. I love all kinds. TV shows and movies not that much, due to either watching alone is not that interesting, or already watched everything I liked and no new parts, seasons, episodes came out yet. I enjoy listening to music, my taste is all over the place, genre doesn't really matter, I just have to like the song, I also like writing, started writing a story some time back and still in the process of combining all the elements, though it's a very slow process due to time and how much actually gets invested into that. And generally I am artsy, I enjoy imagining and creating. There are more interests, like learning languages for example, or drawing maybe, but they are something I do from time to time maybe, or during different moods, but these are mostly my main hobbies that I do day to day.
My main values are communication and effort. I believe anything can be achieved if both parties put the same amount of effort towards each other. That's how a true relationship will be built. In my eyes, communication is key to everything. I am a non-judgemental person, and always want and willing to talk everything through, so every opinion is heard, every view is understood and both parties are satisfied. Without clear and well communication, everything will just fall apart piece by piece, especially if the communication and effort is one sided.
Your location or distance doesn't matter. My age range is 18 - 35.
If any of this caught your interest, feel free to reach out!

2024.05.21 15:09 Paradox_HS Post-Uni Job Hunting Anxiety

Hi all!
I don't intend for this post to be too much of a woe is me, my life decisions coming back to haunt me kind of post. I'm mostly looking for advice regarding next steps, and if there are things i'm missing.
I'm from the UK (27M) and i've just wrapped up my Degree. I've previously been in this position after briefly studying Accountancy in College in 2013 and having a mental breakdown which pushed me into leaving and looking for work since. Besides one admin related job I received three years after leaving college that I left due to apathy, I pursued work in Esports until 2019 where I got my A-Levels in College for Game Design and my degree from '21-24 in Esports.
At the time of writing, I have absolutely zero idea on what I want to do with my career at this point and have received very little practical advice on the subject. Most of the jobs I see online in my region of the UK are mostly revolved around Sales or Marketing, which as an introvert with very few personal acquaintances I know i'm terrible at. (I've been told that i'm fairly kind and nice to be around in person, but I am terrible in front of a crowd or pitching ideas) Ideally i'd like to explore Events Management (Either Digital or Physical) but there appears to be very little availability in that market for uni graduates, and i'm finding my options to be more and more limited by the day.
My parents are both on 3+ hour drives (in my mother's case, 8+) away from me, so I also have constant anxiety over moving back in and trying to apply digitally from there. When I was in the aforementioned job hunting time from '13-'19 I was stuck in a remote part of the country, taking care of my brother with downs syndrome and my mental health nosedived. I genuinely don't know if I can handle being put under a similar situation now in 2024.
The advice I have been given mostly consists of: 'Just apply for everything until you make it'. Which frankly doesn't help me when i'm put on the spot and asked: "Why do you want this job" and having to desperately avoid answering with: "So I don't fall into depression and end up homeless." Like, today for example I was brought in for a Group Interview at the local theatre for a Marketing Role and I was so clearly out of my depth that I couldn't present ideas better than the two guys at my table who were clearly already invested into marketing and/or knew more about the location than me.
Do I think I could've done more to prepare? Absolutely. I could've looked into actual plays ahead of time rather than bouncing off of people, or tried to present ideas more coherently, but I knew the role wasn't for me and the interviewees most likely could tell. I'm having a very difficult time envisioning this not being a recurring problem when every interview will be based on how I can present myself, rather than skills based work. Since I believe I definitely have the skill capacity to be able to engage in the average role a uni grad would be expected to perform, but I can't show it in those kinds of settings.
Tl;dr; Older Uni Graduate has zero ideas what he wants to work as, and is struggling on how to overcome Social Anxiety & Autism (and likely undiagnosed depression) in order to get a job after University when nothing in his field of study is on offer.

Name a movie that was underwhelming but you feel is overhated.
My pick: I could go with the usual spiel about how Tiger 3’s storyline didn’t resonate with the Indian audience, but that’s not why it disappointed me. In my initial review, one of my biggest criticisms was how the supporting cast was treated—the biggest offenders being Hassan (Vishal Jethwa) and Javed (Danish Bhat).
I quite liked the direction the writers were going in with Hassan in this film, but then they decided to make him pull the sacrifice card in a manner that effectively undid his character arc from Tiger Zinda Hai. And this was well after Abrar and Karan (also both unnecessary deaths) had already died.
As for Javed…oh boy. What can I even say about this? The twist only makes rewatches of TZH much more awkward.
Does this mean I think Tiger 3 is a bad film? Far from it. Aside from the Pakistan plot, the writing of the supporting cast’s character arcs and how boring the Pathaan sequence was, there were plenty of things that I found well done.
