Atrazine sequestration using chitosan and charcoal

As the posts says, it went pretty well in the end. It was just a basic BBQ for three people while I learn the trade! I’ve attached a photo of the one I have for reference, it has an airflow vent on each side as well as the little chimney on the top, a lever at the front which controls the height of the charcoal and a little door for adding/moving coal.
The only thing I noticed on the day was how rapid the temperature decreased. I got all my food cooked no problems to the standard I wanted, but if I was hosting for more people things would’ve got a little tricky. Any advice for maintaining and increasing the temperature? I had both vents in the sides fully open and also the chimney on the top fully open. I think I had the coals lifted halfway although not to sure. I used a full chimney worth of coals and kept to a two zone method.

Using this foldable grate with handle for sardines, I want to more sustainably replicate the Portuguese style of grilling them without needing to burn through aluminum trays like this and having better air flow. The idea is to have the coals as close to the cooking grate as possible, with as few coals as possible while still being hot enough for the char required. I have an SnS but it doesn't have the surface area l need.
Would something like stacking some fire bricks on top of the charcoal grate, and then placing a second charcoal grate on top of those bricks works? I would prefer something for the 18" kettle, but open to ideas for either grill.

So I got this cheapo smoker. And I have been smoking several things on it already. Ribs, pulled pork, pork tenderloin etc. But I have ran into some issues, and I want to up my game. So I am asking for some tips for working with a cheap smoker <3.

1. Temperature management is horrible. The heat escapes very quickly. So I am burning through coal like a mad man. But once I add more coal, temperature spikes. Especially when I add a chunk of wood. Controlling this seems near impossible. I have tried to insulate the lids with felt (even though this thin rolled metal deforms very easily and a 100% seal is impossible). I have read that adding lava stones in the smoking chamber might help? Maybe you have some better tips.
2. I currently use briquettes as a main source of heat. During the cook I use 3-4 small chunks of wood for flavor. My problem is that with a long cook (6+ hours), ash starts to "clogg" the firebox and the coal burns less warm. How do you fix this or avoid this. Should I switch to charcoal and stop using briquettes. Ideally I want to use wood as main heat source. But I have read that on a small cheap smoker that isn't really possible?
3. Webshops that sell wood for smoking meat are very expensive here. Can't I just buy firewood intended for a fireplace? As long it is a certain type of wood?
4. Ribs take a lot of place in my smoker. So there is only space for like 2,5 ribs on the grill. Can I stack them lengthwise in an unholy rib pyramid? Or would you advise against that.

My ultimate goal is to smoke brisket. But I need to iron out these challenges before I can do that. I am already considering to buy a better smoker. But that is something for next year.

Some quick burgers on the performer last night, just some royal oak lump, and the new charcoal rails. Minimal has become my preferred method, everything just seems to come out better without any accessories in it, I’ll still use the sns and vortex from time to time but for most cooks these rails keeping the charcoal organized are clutch

One of the pictures is blurry🙁 but I used the Faber Castell gray marker and a lot of the Zig black pen double sided one !!! A 0.05 Micron Pen charcoal and my really professional .5 mechanical pencil !!! And tortillons(?) to blend ofc they’re softer than blending stumps so I like them better but do they fall apart for anyone else after sometime☹️???

I recently had the pleasure of using the Cuisinart GR-6S Contact Smoke-Less Mode Griddler in my own kitchen. Honestly, it brought a whole new dimension to my indoor grilling game. The smokeless feature made grilling indoors a breeze without filling my apartment with smoke.
One of the first things I noticed was the adjustable temperatures. It made it incredibly easy to get the perfect sear on my steaks, evenly brown my pancakes, and cook each dish to perfection without overcooking or undercooking. The LCD display and digital controls were quite user-friendly and made selecting the desired temperature a snap. Yet, there was a bit of a learning curve in the beginning.
Now, the highlight of the Griddler was the DuoControl Heating Advantage. I could independently control the temperature on the upper and lower plates. To fix this, I had to play around with the temperatures to get the right results. Also, the cooking surface was quite small, but considering its compact design, it made sense.
The construction was sturdy and, in fact, exceeded my expectations. The silver color made it a great addition to my kitchen, adding a certain visual appeal. The appliance held up well against daily use, proving to be quite durable. However, the design was a bit of a challenge to understand right out of the box.
Overall, I found the Cuisinart GR-6S Contact Smoke-Less Mode Griddler a joy to use. It added a touch of innovation to my grilling routines and was a great addition to my kitchen appliances collection. Even with its minor flaws, it certainly delivered in terms of quality and performance.
