2024.05.18 10:47 Lillysrpretty4u It's all getting too much

All the normal things in life are getting harder: Harder to cook for my family and smell the food and know they get to eat it and I can't. Harder to grocery shop & see all the pastries, chips, cookies, desserts that I want but can't have. Harder to pack my kids' lunches having to smell the peanut butter butter and the bread that I want so badly. Harder to walk around the mall when I smell the pizza shop, Subway, cookies baking, pretzels, popcorn from the movies knowing I can't have it. It's harder to buy snacks for my family and see them sitting in the cupboards waiting to be eaten by them. Harder to look at the food hoard Ive created. I've had to buy 2 additional freezers because I hoard bread, bagels, lean cuisine dinners, desserts, candy bars, Crumbl Cookies but never eat them. Harder to know my family is out at a restaurant eating good food while I eat canned chicken with sugar free BBQ sauce and veggies. I am miserable. Absolutely miserable. Restriction feels amazing, yet at the same time it is misery..how can that be? I want to recover, but I don't.... I am so conflicted and tormented. I could scream. I could cry. I see an eating disorder specialized therapist Monday. I don't know what will come of it. At a 14 BMI, I need to make a decision quick. Recover or not. I just don't know if I can give up this coping mechanism. I love it and hate it.

2024.05.17 21:03 Connect-Appeal-2018 EH question

so i woke up today and had extreme mental hunger. the night prior i wanted peanut butter but did not honor it. this morning i wanted it 10x more than last night so i ate some then saw an oatmeal raisin cookie my dad bought from a bakery yesterday. then i wanted some protein bars. ate those. then i wanted pretzel chips. ate those. more items too! all tasty. had to go to school after that; basically i ate 2900 calories in the first hour i was up lol, plus lunch bringing me at <3500 calories for the day so far. and you know what?? i'm not at ALL full. bloated yes but my stomach feels empty??? i don't feel guilty for eating all this because i'm trying to recover and i have EH episodes 3-4/7 days of the week. i'm just wondering why i'm not full or feeling sick after all this. normal people without ed's couldn't eat this much while i know for a fact that once i hit 9000-10000 calories i finally feel satisfied and don't want other food. is anyone else like this? i'm planning on eating more once i get home before i go shopping with my mom haha i just want food today! i'm actually happy about this)

2024.05.15 00:25 LEBW1234 Extreme Hunger is scaring me away from recovery. What has your experience with EH been like?

I really, truly, want to recover. I want to be free of my ED. I have struggled with binge/restrict cycles for the past 10 years. This year, my restricting got to the point that I was diagnosed with anorexia-restricting type (atypical) and I am finally getting help which I am so, happy and relieved for. It's been a long time.
I began the process of recovery a few weeks ago when my dr diagnosed me, and since then, feel as though I have *binged* 3 times. Prior to this I haven't binged in maybe a year or two...it's really been mostly restriction and anorexia behaviors.
I can't tell if I'm binging again, or if this is extreme hunger. I don't "plan" it like I used to plan binges..it's more that, I'm just so hungry that I keep eating and eating and eating. It's always after dinner, even if I've eaten 3 meals and 2 snacks during the day. Right now I just had an episode of extreme hunger, and I really felt hungry the whole time, but now that it's done I feel so full and just don't know how to cope with this feeling of fullness. Likewise, most of what I consume during these extreme hunger episodes is peanut butter! Peanut butter from the jar, nut butter cookies, pb pretzel nuggets, bananas with pb, and all of these things all once, so the calorie count ends up being astronomical.
Is this binging or extreme hunger? Should I honor these episodes and just go with it, or should I try to hold back? I definitely feel like I need to "compensate" when this happens but that just leads to more restriction. I work with an ED nutritionist who has me on a meal plan, and I feel SO guilty for going off the rails with it when this happens! On days that I don't have extreme hunger I don't even meet my meal plan requirements, so maybe that's why I'm over-eating?
I don't know what to do. I'm feeling so discouraged and like I just want to go back to straight-up restriction, even though what I really want is recovery. Does anybody have a similar story they can share or knowledge to impart? Was your extreme hunger similar in type and frequency? Did it go away? Did it cause rapid weight gain? Did you honor it or not honor it?
Thank you <3

2024.05.10 09:56 DeviantKlown Shrekmas (Traditional Shrek)

Shrekmas For Village Idots

Shrekmas brings a whimsical twist to the traditional Christmas celebration, inspired by the beloved characters and settings from the Shrek movies. Here's a festive glimpse into how Christmas might unfold in the world of Shrek:
  1. Decorations:
    • Ogre-sized Christmas trees adorned with swamp-themed decorations like mud pies, swamp grass garlands, and firefly lights.
    • Instead of snow, the ground is covered in "swamp snow" made of green tinsel and glitter.
    • Gingerbread houses shaped like Shrek's swamp shack, complete with gumdrop swamps and cookie mud puddles.
  2. Feast Fit for an Ogre:
    • The Shrekmas feast features hearty dishes like roasted turkey legs, swamp stew with dragon carrots, and gingerbread men shaped like Gingy.
    • Swamp-themed desserts include mudslide cakes, swamp water punch with gummy bugs, and "ogre-sized" gingerbread cookies.
  3. Costumes and Characters:
    • Shrek and Fiona dress up as Mr. and Mrs. Claus, with Shrek donning a red hat and belly pad, and Fiona sporting a green dress with a wreath made of wildflowers.
    • Donkey adds his own flair to the festivities with a reindeer costume, complete with antlers and jingle bells.
    • Puss in Boots entertains with his swashbuckling charm, dressed as a Christmas pirate with a Santa hat perched atop his feathered hat.
  4. Activities and Traditions:
    • Swamp sleigh rides pulled by Donkey and Dragon, with the sleigh decorated in layers of swamp grass and twinkling lights.
    • Decorating "ogre-sized" gingerbread men with swamp-themed frosting and candy toppings.
    • Caroling with a Shrek twist, singing holiday songs with lyrics rewritten to include references to swamp life and fairy tale adventures.
  5. Gift-Giving:
    • Instead of traditional gift wrapping, presents are nestled in layers of swamp leaves and tied with vines or ribbons made of swamp grass.
    • Shrek and Fiona exchange gifts that reflect their love for adventure and each other, such as a map of new swamp territories or a book of fairy tale recipes.
  6. Spirit of Shrekmas:
    • Shrekmas is not just about presents and feasting; it's a time for friends and family to come together, celebrate their quirks and differences, and embrace the magic of unlikely friendships.
    • The holiday embodies the message of acceptance, love, and finding joy in life's unconventional moments, just like Shrek and his beloved swamp.
Shrekmas brings a touch of ogre charm and fairy tale fun to the Christmas season, reminding everyone that even in a swampy twist of holiday traditions, the spirit of love and togetherness shines brightly.

Green Onion Layer Casserole (Shrekmas)

Here's a fun and festive "Green Onion Layer Casserole" recipe inspired by Shrekmas:
Ingredients:
Instructions:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Trim the ends of the green onions and chop them finely, separating the white and green parts.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped white parts of the green onions, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the crushed buttery crackers with melted butter until the crumbs are coated evenly.
  5. Spread half of the green onion mixture evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle half of the buttery cracker crumbs over the green onion mixture.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining green onion mixture and buttery cracker crumbs.
  8. If desired, sprinkle chopped bacon bits over the top of the casserole for an extra savory touch.
  9. Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  10. Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
This Green Onion Layer Casserole is a deliciously savory dish that captures the flavors of Shrek's swampy home in a festive and comforting way. Enjoy it as a side dish during your Shrekmas celebrations!

2024.05.02 22:33 NationalChamps2015 Sportsbook Review: Mandalay Bay Las Vegas - A solid spot at the end of the strip

Needed to do a status match in Vegas Caesars Diamond to Wynn Platinum to Fontainebleau Gold. This was successful BTW. So I booked a cheap Frontier airlines flight, got a $7 room at Harrah's and booked a Sunday night trip. To my delight, a person I do business with was also in town and had his expense account open, and invited me down to the end of the strip where he was staying at Mandalay Bay.
Mandalay Bay Overview
Came down to the book around 5:00pm on a Sunday. NBA and NHL playoffs were going on, as well as Cubs vs. Redsox Sunday night baseball and some harness horse and quarter horse tracks.
Book is huge. One of the throwback books you used to see in Vegas back in the 90's. Plenty of comfortable seating everywhere and probably 1/4 full. A bar sat right near the back of it. Older TV's flanked the front of the book providing a good view from anywhere.
Mandalay Bay sits on the south end of the strip. Attached to The Delano and Luxor. You can also get to Excalibur via the walk way. There is a tram that I found pretty useless that takes you down to Excalibur. A negative of this hotel is its proximity to the heart of the strip. The pros are this is within walking distance of Allegiant Stadium and a 25-30 minute walk to T-mobile arena.
A good overview of the sportsbook. This is from the very back. As you can see plenty of free seating and a very good view of the TV's
Sportsbook Review
The sportsbook offered all the current odds MGM has to offer. Had every possible NBA, MLB and NHL game as well as horse racing.
Good selection of people hanging out, from Suns fans to Nuggets ones. I was the only person actively placing Horse bets.
Tellers were super friendly. They welcomed the business and explained drink ticket rules. Every $100 on sports gets you a drink ticket, every $20 on horses got you one. They weren't exactly giving these out like candy like Harrah's was, but they would gladly give me them one at a time.
View of the other side of the book
Drinks and Food
Not the good ole days, but the drink tickets were handed out the bar selection was great. A drink ticket basically got me any bourbon they had at the bar. I went with Knob Creek 9 year over Makers Mark, Four Roses and Jim Beam. Buddy of mine got a White Russian without any problem
Drink tickets weren't impossible to come by
Bar was a cool spot to roll up to and watch the games from
On the food side we went to Flanker Kitchen + Sports Bar which is pretty much the closest dining option. It was overall meh. Cool place. But expensive prices on food for what it was. I'd much rather try elsewhere next time.
Smash burger is fine, but not worth the $30+ they charged
Menu with pricing
Overall
A very fun place to watch a game. Everyone was nice. Plenty of comfortable free seating. Can't beat it. Would definitely be next level if they add new LED screens which would place it towards the top of the list in Vegas. But this is how sportsbook on the strip should be. Approachable for a group of friends wanting to gamble and drink.
It would have been wrong of me to stay at Harrah's and not provide a pic of my favorite sportsbook.
Had a few drinks at the Harrah's book, my favorite overall spot to watch sports in Vegas

2024.04.24 00:16 Hallelujah289 Haagen Dazs review (I tried 18 flavors over last four years)

Disclaimer: This is not a brand review; this is just what I tried.
Have tried about 18 Haagen Dazs ice cream flavors over last four years. Many are just ok with a few standouts.
I generally don’t have a memory for the ones I marked “ok” except that I wished they all came with more mix ins and had more texture, decadence and overall intense flavor. Especially disappointing were the chocolate ones where I missed the mix ins like brownies and swirls the most. Ben and Jerry’s generally does this better (Phish Food!). But other than that these are somewhat bland but not awful ice creams.
The standouts are the fruit ice creams where the natural flavors shine through. Probably helped by Haagen Dazs using fruit purée in their ingredients when the fruit (banana, mango, etc) has natural thickening qualities to give extra creaminess.
I also liked their spirits flavors such as from their spirits collection (limited edition) and also rum raisin (permanent). The alcohol gives a delicious flavor boost.
Ice cream pints: * Black and White Cookie - ok * Banana Peanut Butter Chip - liked the natural banana flavor! WRP (discontinued? If so try Ben and Jerry’s Chunky Monkey which also has that natural banana flavor) * (City Sweets Collection) Chocolate Coffee Brownie - ok * (City Sweets Collection) Summer Berry Cake Pop - liked the fresh berry flavor! Also finally some mix ins. WRP * Chocolate Peanut Butter - ok. * Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel - ok. * Creamy Mango Ice Cream (this is for the ice cream; have not tried the sorbet) - actually amazing. Total mango flavor and super creamy. * Matcha Green Tea - not strong enough matcha. * Peppermint Bark - ok. * Raspberry Sorbet - awesome! Much better than Talenti Roman Raspberry sorbetto which is too sweet. * Rum Raisin - very unique in grocery store. Not usually a raisin fan but I just like this one. The rum raisin has warmth and depth. * (Spirits Collection) Rose and Cream - a bit too intense but I did like the unique bubbly champagne fizzy quality of the ice cream. * (Spirits Collection) Rum Tres Leches - too sweet (caramel). * (Spirits Collection) Irish Cream Brownie - a fave! An alcohol creamy taste with some subtle brownie accents (more like brownie crumbles than chunks). * Swiss Almond - boring. * Strawberry - I love a natural strawberry flavor. Also try Helados Mexico ice cream bar if you like natural strawberry.
Ice cream bars: * Almond Toffee Crunch - too sweet (ETA: but toffee pieces brought good texture) * White Chocolate Raspberry - ok (ETA: chocolate shell has nice snap)
