A friend of mine ( 29M, no medical history of note) moved here to the UK from Eastern Europe two months ago. He recently started taking Vitamin C supplements. I met him yesterday and I saw he was scratching himself all over. He explained he has experienced the following symptoms:
-2 weeks after he arrived, he started to get itchy all over his body, mainly arms, legs, shoulders, ankles, wrists, hands.
-The itchiness comes from minuscule blisters (2-3mm or less) that appear all around over his body. They are extremely itchy and are fluid-filled.
-He scratches them, the fluid comes out, and the small blister then scabs over.
-The blisters are often in clusters of 2 or 3, distinct but very close together next to each other.
He tried to take antihistamines but they didnât help much. He suspects it might be either the new detergent he washes clothes with or the water of the hotel he stays in. I also mentioned possibly insect bites from the bed? Or else dishydrosis (but it usually only affects the palm of the hand or sides of fingers or sole of feet).
I had dishydrosis myself and the blisters looked very similar, though obviously in different parts of the body, which makes me doubt it is that.
What could it be? Any suggestions? I want to try to help him. Unfortunately I didnât take any pictures. Thank you.

So ive changed careers and evidently ive chosen the wrong industry (again) for me but im kind of stuck now as im early 30s and need to start earning a bit more.
I started off as a developers QS. Hated it and left after 2 years. Thought estimating would be a bit more relaxed but it was insufferably boring and the set up wasnt right for training me there. Left after a couple of months. Moved back to developers QS hoping it was just the previous company. Hated it again. Left after a year.
I now work as a Development Monitoring Surveyor which I dont mind but they are making me do RICS chartership and wont allow me to progress without it. But i have to do it on the QS pathway where its very difficult to a)recall back to previous work at places i no longer work. b) have minimal QS support as my new company doesnt have QS's and c) not only having to recall back but the work developers do things is invariably not "RICSy" so essentially have to make up that i dont things the "correct way" and the be grilled on that. So its a pretty tough task.
There doesnt seem to be any way forward me other than going back to Developer's QSs and hating life again or remaining on a graduate salary consultant side. This is more of a rant than asking for advice. But if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.

I wasnât sure if/how bad a problem I had with alcohol, but it was clearly causing my mental and physical health to suffer. With encouragement from this sub, I decided to try going sober. I went without drinking about 2 months - felt amazing! But still wasnât committed to never drinking again, so on 3 occasions the last few weeks I had 1-2 drinks. And it was SO underwhelming. None of my âfavoriteâ drinks tasted near as good as I remembered, even undrinkable. Getting drunk didnât feel relaxing or fun. I just felt tired and slow. Even at best I felt it wasnât worth the calories or losing sleep. I stopped without finishing my drinks each time.
Last night was the last time. After that, I finally poured out the 2 (expensive) bottles and 24 cans I had left stocked at home. Hello. Im searching for a movie thats 3d animated. I think it began with a thing taking the mother of the main character during the night into the land of the dead. It left a blue feather if i remember right. I sadly only remember small pieces. Whats also in my mind is that the main character got there and searched for his mom. Smth kept him from doing so. He then helped a bad guy out of the well who kept smuggling people in in trade of smth important (coins or medaillions or souls or smth like that). The movie ended with a big flood and the main character fleeing with a little goofy side character and his mum up a very unstable wooden stair to a door. I (20M) feel like i got pretty lucky with alot of things that men say women want. Im 6"5, im semi muscular (ill get into this one l8r), i got good hair, and half desent facial hair, i have a LOT of money for ppl my age (around 100k at 20 due to a legal suit involving a death of a close relitive), and above average sized thing (not to be crass but i think its important for what im talking about).
Now thats all great, like every alpha male guy would say thats all that matters to get women but my insecurity comes from my face. I HATE the way my face looks. Like i cant put into words how disgusting my face is. My nose is down turned and pruyrdes too far from my face, my eyes are too deep set into my skull and have these disgusting genetic under eye bags that are always shadowed, my cheeks are fat and puffy and i have a aweful jaw that shoots way too high up to early on my face, as well as one side of my face is round and 1 side is sharp. I hate seeing myself. But so much of life is just seeing yourself, i dont want photos of me, i dont want to be seen in public, i dont want to go on dates, etc all because i hate the way i look. Ive gone through soo much in my life but ive really gotten through it all, abusive parents as a kid, dead parent as a teen, all my grandparents are dead, no real connections, a disease that hospitialized me for most of highschool, and so many other struggles in my life and yet the only thing that consitantly weighs on my mind and makes me suididal is my face.
I hate it so much i cant put it into words. Ive done ALOT of reflecting on why i hate how i look because im probaly objectivly speeking barely below average or maybe even average levels of attractivness. I think it comes from bad experinces with women in the past and a sense of inadequicy caused by having abusive parents. I know i mentioned alpha male shit at thr begining of this post but im actually not into any of that bullshit at all. Im a pretty big feminist and ive always kind of prided myself on not being that cringe women hating andrew tate fan, but what im realizing is i just internilized all that hatred instead of putting it onto women.
I constantly look at myself, i check myself in every reflection to confirm im still ugly, if there isnt a mirror i take a photo or look at myself in my phones reflection. I do this because i want to know what i look like in the moment. Even when im alone i constantly check. I have over 6k selfies on my phone if just that. Sometimes i feel confident and i feel like a 8 or a 9 out of 10 and then i see myself in normal/natural lighting and i feel like a 3/10. Its so paralalyzing. I would do anything to just feel comfterable in my own skin. I miss out on so many great things because im paranoid about how i look. When i walk to the store i spend the entire time obbsesivly freaking out about my aprarejce, when i hang out with friends i try and consuously position myself in ways they see my good side or me in good lighting because i dont want them to THINK im ugly. Its so miserable i want it to be over. Im genuinly suisidal over my facial apearnece which feels so pathetic when you consider what other people are going through or even what I have experinced in the past, its wierd THIS small thing is so deteimental to my life.
I feel my body is fine but i do have a eating disorder specifically in a attempt to reduce facial fat. I do sooo much to try and inprove my aperace but at this point its just genetics. Like i have a massive skin care routine, i work out frequently, and so much more but it just doesnt help.
One of my friends told me he though i was ugly when he first met me but now he things im average and it destroyed me. Idk why he said it honeslty i think he was drunk and ment it as a compliment and for a normal person they would just move on but for me its lingered in my mind 24/7 for the last 3 months. It doesnt even matter what he thinks because im straight and its not like im trying to date him but I think becuase of the way i obssess over what others think of my apearjwce it like confirmed my already negitive thoufhrs about my apernece. I dont voice these kind of things to ppl so its not like any1 knows not to say things like that but if i did ask him not to it would honeslty make ut worse because then it would feel like he was silently judging me.
I desprutially want to be loved, i think it has to do with being phyically and emotionally abused by both my parents as a kid because i feel this deep sinkinh feeling in my chest all the time and it feeld like the only way i could fix it would be love. Sometimes i get a glimse of it, like i fall in love and we go on a few dates and then it doesnt work out but for that short few weeks it felt like everything was fine fir the first rime ever. I want to just experince basic love like hugging and spending time together with someone in a romantic sense SOO deeply and it feels like it i was more attractive maybe those dates where i was in love but it wasnt mutual would work out.
I social media stalk one girl in particular and evey new boyfriend she gets is like 500x more attractive than me and it just makes me feel hopeless but i litterally cant get over her. 2 years and the feelings never went away. Every time i think im over her i dream about her or something big happens involving her or a friend mentions her in passing and its like all these dormant feeling reawaken and i just feel so inadiqet. Like i dont even want any1 else. Its wierd and it fucking sucks.
I feel like the only real options left are get cosmetic surgery and hope that fixes everything, or die and never have to worry about it again but i genuinly think all the time about all the bad photos thsg would be used at my funeral. If i got cosmetic survery i would move to the other side of the country and start a new life and just pretend it never happened and not talk to any1 who new me from before until they A forgot what i looked like, or B enough time passed its reasonable i looked diffrent.

is pregnancy a possibility if unprotected sex happened 2 days after period was due? my cycles are usually very long and irregular so it was 42 days after my last period had ended. 22 days later now and i still haven't got my period.
i'm mostly concerned because since last week my body has been been feeling and acting very strange: nausea, food aversion, extreme sensitivity to smells (threw up just from the smell of a food i serve at work, usually enjoy this food. my favourite perfume also smells really bad to me right now âšď¸), some minor cramps similar to the sensation of period cramps but a lot less persistent over the course of the day and have been going on for longer than they usually do when i'm expecting my period to come (1.5 week vs the usual 3/4 days). i've also been falling asleep every day almost immediately after i get home from work which is unusual for me, and naturally waking up a lot earlier in the morning before my alarms even though i am usually a deep, heavy sleeper and would sleep for 15 hours straight if i wasn't woken up by an alarm. i've been pregnant briefly before and had some similar symptoms but it's been a while now i can't remember exactly how i was feeling at the time.
took a test at the weekend and it had a very pale line but not sure if it was evaporation line or false result, took about 3/4 minutes to become visible. i've ordered some more online because i live in a tiny town and don't want the scandal of buying pregnancy tests from the pharmacy so i have to wait until friday for them to arrive but should i even be concerned given where i was at in my cycle? or could it have happened anyway ? i am clueless about the technicalities and absolutely losing my mind any shared knowledge or advice will be appreciated

I am overwhelmed with all of the rod/reel/tackle options and want to be on the water yesterday!
Hey folks! I'm wanted to make this short but I have everything to learn, and admittedly very little knowledge or experience despite all of the self-research through consuming tons of content on Kayak Fishing and PNW Fishing and want to be very clear on what it is I am asking for in terms of guidance/recommendations!

I haven't fished since I was a young kid with my grandfather - that was over 20 years ago so let's just assume I have no real bearing on what I'm doing or where to begin.
I live on the WA/OR border where the Columbia meets the Pacific and am looking to get myself setup with my first rod and tackle as I'd like to start fishing the local lakes and estuaries around me.
These are the circumstances that will affect my gear choices: 1.) My locale - Living at the literal mouth of the Columbia River (Astoria/Hammond, OR up to Ilwaco/Long Beach, WA and the surrounding areas) offers me a slew of bangers when it comes to the native fish and waterways being that there are streams, rivers, lakes, ocean, saltwater, freshwater, brackish water - blah, blah, blah - everything all at once. It's exciting, but overwhelming - with each new thing I learn, I realize how much more there is to find out. 2.) The primary use case for the gear I'm currently seeking is to fish from my Tucktec folding kayak, and ideally being able to accommodate a secondary use case of being able to pack in my rod and tackle on quick jaunts to more secluded waters in the area - I'm aware this may be where I just don't get to have the best of both worlds and may have to choose between the ability to pack it down and strap it to the side of my pack to bushwhack with and having it be an ideal rod for kayaking. I really just want to be able to grab my rod and tackle, get in my car, and be able to hop out with what I've got w/ me whenever I find myself in an area w/ a nice fishing spot that is accessible by foot or boat and just go!
I have seen some general recommendations of using around a 6.5'-8' rod on a kayak, and I most often see a 7' rod recommended - w/ the caveat of potentially adding a little length going up to 8' if fishing saltwater - given my locale, its really hard to say if I'll be in fresh, salt, or brackish water at any given time w/ all the coast, estuaries and lakes at my disposal it could really go any way. Even if I'm not kayaking out in the actual open waters of the Columbia, smaller estuaries that I might find myself in have that brackish water that I'm unsure whether to treat as fresh or saltwater when selecting gear.
Do I overcompensate as a foolproofing/failsafe measure and treat it like I'm generally fishing saltwater to handle the larger fish I'd encounter in those estuaries, or actual ocean if I'm on foot on the Washington side? Or do I go in with the intention of using a dedicated lake setup for fishing Bass, Steelhead and the smaller panfish that I'd encounter fishing Coffenbury Lake, Cullaby Lake, and other contained bodies of water and accept the fact that much like motorcycling, an "all-'rounder" or "dual sport" is more often than not underperforming and disappointing whether you're on the interstate or off the beaten path and one is usually better off just having dedicated bikes for dirt and street to really get that dialed in performance, rather than getting the worst of both worlds in one place. If that is in fact that case, then I guess I'm on the hunt for TWO rod/reel combos. One for fishing the local freshwater lakes, and a second for fishing the brackish water on the banks and estuaries.
I am trying my best to learn, but I don't know a lot about what's what seasonally as far as fishing goes, I just know prime time for bass fishing was a few months ago as it's getting warmer now. Tips on what I should be looking to fish for NOW and in the coming summefall months in this region would be greatly appreciated, I'm so eager to learn!
I know gear is subjective, and that if I take to angling, I'll end up amassing a ton of it for the changing seasons and types of fishing I take a shine to, and honestly, just for the hell of it. Right now, though? I just want to get myself a daily driver so that I can stop pulling my hair out researching and JUST GET TO CASTING OUT ON THE WATER ALREADY!
The goal is just to have enough fun in the process to not get discouraged from learning the art of angling, as I'd like it to become a staple source of communion with nature and a still chamber for reflection in my day-to-day life. I don't have any fishing buddies to offer moral support or get tips in this field, and I don't want to get myself in over my head and end up discouraged w/ gear that just sits gathering dust!
OH, and lastly on the note of the general 7' recommendation for kayak fishing, that seems to be a fairly universal ballpark on length, but I stumbled across Emmrod fishing rods - specifically the Emmrod Kayak King and the Emrod Packrod - they're funky little guys but they look bombproof, stowable, have swappable rod ends and they even have a model called the Kayak King - its only 27" assembled, half that packed, and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Emmrod rods as they honestly look like they'd fit the bill for both kayaking and packing in to secluded lakes and streams for me PERFECTLY, but they go against most of what I've gleaned about kayak fishing so far being a whole 5' shy of 7' and I worry that I'm just falling blindly for the idea of the Emmrod because it's unlike anything I've ever seen in the sea of other rods I'm trying to take my pick from, and on paper it says its exactly what I'm looking for and has swappable parts making it pique my interest that much more as I just love modular systems. Someone please, SOUND OFF!

Bless those of you that can manage to stick w/ me!
I haven't fished since I was a young kid with my grandfather - that was over 20 years ago so let's just assume I have no real bearing on what I'm doing or where to begin.
I live on the WA/OR border where the Columbia meets the Pacific and am looking to get myself setup with my first rod and tackle as I'd like to start fishing the local lakes and estuaries around me.
These are the circumstances that will affect my gear choices: 1.) My locale - Living at the literal mouth of the Columbia River (Astoria/Hammond, OR up to Ilwaco/Long Beach, WA and the surrounding areas) offers me a slew of bangers when it comes to the native fish and waterways being that there are streams, rivers, lakes, ocean, saltwater, freshwater, brackish water - blah, blah, blah - everything all at once. It's exciting, but overwhelming - with each new thing I learn, I realize how much more there is to find out. 2.) The primary use case for the gear I'm currently seeking is to fish from my Tucktec folding kayak, and ideally being able to accommodate a secondary use case of being able to pack in my rod and tackle on quick jaunts to more secluded waters in the area - I'm aware this may be where I just don't get to have the best of both worlds and may have to choose between the ability to pack it down and strap it to the side of my pack to bushwhack with and having it be an ideal rod for kayaking. I really just want to be able to grab my rod and tackle, get in my car, and be able to hop out with what I've got w/ me whenever I find myself in an area w/ a nice fishing spot that is accessible by foot or boat and just go!
I have seen some general recommendations of using around a 6.5'-8' rod on a kayak, and I most often see a 7' rod recommended - w/ the caveat of potentially adding a little length going up to 8' if fishing saltwater - given my locale, its really hard to say if I'll be in fresh, salt, or brackish water at any given time w/ all the coast, estuaries and lakes at my disposal it could really go any way. Even if I'm not kayaking out in the actual open waters of the Columbia, smaller estuaries that I might find myself in have that brackish water that I'm unsure whether to treat as fresh or saltwater when selecting gear.
Do I overcompensate as a foolproofing/failsafe measure and treat it like I'm generally fishing saltwater to handle the larger fish I'd encounter in those estuaries, or actual ocean if I'm on foot on the Washington side? Or do I go in with the intention of using a dedicated lake setup for fishing Bass, Steelhead and the smaller panfish that I'd encounter fishing Coffenbury Lake, Cullaby Lake, and other contained bodies of water and accept the fact that much like motorcycling, an "all-'rounder" or "dual sport" is more often than not underperforming and disappointing whether you're on the interstate or off the beaten path and one is usually better off just having dedicated bikes for dirt and street to really get that dialed in performance, rather than getting the worst of both worlds in one place. If that is in fact that case, then I guess I'm on the hunt for TWO rod/reel combos. One for fishing the local freshwater lakes, and a second for fishing the brackish water on the banks and estuaries.
I am trying my best to learn, but I don't know a lot about what's what seasonally as far as fishing goes, I just know prime time for bass fishing was a few months ago as it's getting warmer now. Tips on what I should be looking to fish for NOW and in the coming summefall months in this region would be greatly appreciated, I'm so eager to learn!
I know gear is subjective, and that if I take to angling, I'll end up amassing a ton of it for the changing seasons and types of fishing I take a shine to, and honestly, just for the hell of it. Right now, though? I just want to get myself a daily driver so that I can stop pulling my hair out researching and JUST GET TO CASTING OUT ON THE WATER ALREADY!
The goal is just to have enough fun in the process to not get discouraged from learning the art of angling, as I'd like it to become a staple source of communion with nature and a still chamber for reflection in my day-to-day life. I don't have any fishing buddies to offer moral support or get tips in this field, and I don't want to get myself in over my head and end up discouraged w/ gear that just sits gathering dust!
OH, and lastly on the note of the general 7' recommendation for kayak fishing, that seems to be a fairly universal ballpark on length, but I stumbled across Emmrod fishing rods - specifically the Emmrod Kayak King and the Emrod Packrod - they're funky little guys but they look bombproof, stowable, have swappable rod ends and they even have a model called the Kayak King - its only 27" assembled, half that packed, and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Emmrod rods as they honestly look like they'd fit the bill for both kayaking and packing in to secluded lakes and streams for me PERFECTLY, but they go against most of what I've gleaned about kayak fishing so far being a whole 5' shy of 7' and I worry that I'm just falling blindly for the idea of the Emmrod because it's unlike anything I've ever seen in the sea of other rods I'm trying to take my pick from, and on paper it says its exactly what I'm looking for and has swappable parts making it pique my interest that much more as I just love modular systems. Someone please, SOUND OFF!
So, tell me what rod/reel YOU'D go for. Tell me why I should not get the Emmrod and get a normal rod like a normal person, or better yet, tell me about your experience with the Emmrod and why it'd be perfect for me after all! So this is my first campaign in pathfinder. Iâve only played DnD 3.5 before so Iâm still learning what does and doesnât translate. My DM has a âsession pointsâ system that allows us a couple chances to use a list of boons per meetup (such as a reroll on one die, stabilizing after a fatal hit once, or, the one I planned to use: being able to take one standard action or move action immediately)
Iâm playing a Life Mystery-Oracle/ Paladin (and one of my revelations is an ability called Energy Body. It causes my body to suffuse with pure life energy. If undead creatures slap, grapple or hit me with a melee weapon, they take positive energy damage. Same if I hit them. If a living allied creature moves through my space or I move through theirs, they heal and I can choose whether a creature moving through me heals or not. Text states that my body becomes âpure life energyâ and I take on the appearance of a golden white elemental.
Recently we encountered a ghost and I had an idea from dealing with incorporeal creatures in a dnd campaign and remembering you can stand in the same space like you would a cloud or puff of smoke. In DnD, a corporeal creature can occupy the same space as incorporeal one if it succeeds on a touch attack. My idea was to use energy body and attempt to (RPing) âhugâ the ghost with my âgoddessâs healing lightâ, but since you canât grapple with incorporeal creatures I would simply pass into and be standing inside the spirits form by occupying the same space. I assumed after occupying the same space after a successful touch attack as in DnD, and since touching undead causes positive energy damage to them while Iâm in energy form, that standing inside them would do something cool. Passing through one side to the other would understandably be a single completed touch attack, as I touch and stop touching, but stopping mid pass leaves me in direct continued contact the ghost till they or I moved.
Our DM went with me passing through the ghost and failing the grapple (hug) since they canât be grappled(expected). They wouldnât however allow me to occupy the enemyâs space and instead shunted me past the ghost 5ft citing that they canât occupy the same space when they succeed on an attack and that passing from in front of, to inside of, counted as moving through a threatened space and triggered an AoO. Therefor when I was inside the ghosts space the AoO success meant I couldnât occupy it (not expected). Ive only found online that they canât occupy the same space while they are attacking (Iâm assuming they enter our plane and become corporeal momentarily meaning their form has a physical mass and canât exist inside our mass in the same location.) and didnât factor a AoO triggering.
However the wording says that they can only NOT occupy the same space during THEIR attacks. Meaning if they fail an attack or canât, their space can be occupied.
A teammates ability triggered and killed it directly after, but my idea was to use a session point to immediately reenter the ghosts space before this turn ended using a move action and attempt an occupation again. Since an AoO can only be triggered once per round, passing into the ghosts space a second time wouldnât be able to trigger an AoO, meaning they canât materialize and we CAN now occupy the same space.
Would this have worked in the way Iâm thinking or am I way off the mark?
TLDR: What would a being of âpure life energyâ existing inside the bulk of a ghost or other undead spectral creature do to it if it couldnât move away or attack for 30 seconds or more (assuming they canât act for the next 5 turns in initiative at 6 seconds a turn with their turn triggering a new round and a forcing a new touch attack for occupying a shared space)? If they fail the next touch attack and I continue existing in the same space for even longer, what would happen? Or am I completely off mark?

On Sept. 11, 2001, a series of terrorist attacks set me on a path to do three things: to correct misinformation as a life goal, to enter a field that in some way improves peopleâs understanding of their world, and to earn bipartisan respect in how I do it.
Iâve written an untold number of stories across 23 years and been taken to places new and old, familiar and fresh. I've interviewed rock legends, presidential candidates (well... one), and along the way met unforgettable sources ranging from a baby battling neuroblastoma to an elderly Lawrence woman growing a potato in her apartment and naming it like a son.
Of course, this path has had its drawbacks. I was told early on that âbeing a reporter doesnât pay well,â and that I was entering a âdead industryâ fresh from its collapse in 2008. But, after my first time talking to a doggie daycare that made the Today Show and becoming friends with a cat, I realized the career also paid in memories... amply... and thereâs really no place Iâve worked that has created more memories for me than Salem. Itâs the beat Iâve worked the longest as a reporter; the most recent Halloween marked my 10th in the city.
It also marked my last.
On Oct. 24, seven days before Halloween, I turned 40. I did so without having yet saved any money for retirement, and while working at least 70 hours per week at two to three jobs for the last several years. The combined paychecks still put me a good bit below median household income for the area â something that comes to mind every time I see a comment online that talks about how people should try living where they can afford to.
There's also a dark side to journalism that has emerged in the last half-decade, one that Iâd argue doesnât get enough attention. Itâs one of the few industries that is entirely private while also being fully public-facing â journalists are effectively public officials, without the protections and benefits of being public officials. We take a lot of shots from readers, some of whom would delight in us being out of the job and financially destroyed, and we just chuckle and move on with our day.
For the dark side, thereâs also the light. In some parts of the real world, journalists are thanked for their service as if weâre active military. Iâve been compared to nurses working the pandemic, held up as a leader stabilizing a maligned society, and invited to share my perspective and experiences with high school classrooms, podcasts, even Boy Scout troops.
Being a reporter pays well in the memories you collect along the way (thankfully they aren't subject to a tax). To that end, Iâve at times felt wealthy for having the privilege of covering a city like Salem â even with its dark underbelly actively arguing that I shouldnât have a job or be allowed to exist.
With this double-edged sword equipped for so long, I knew Iâd put it down at some point. When thinking about the kind of job it would take to leave the news industry, I found there was really only one that kept coming up in my mind: an opening in Communications at my Alma Mater, UNH. That would honestly be a dream... a position like that opening at a college campus I knew so well. To my fortune, that exact position opened in my backyard toward the end of 2023, on a college campus I know just as well as UNH â if not better.
In early June, Iâll be switching careers as I assume the role of Associate Director of External Communications at Salem State University.
I loved my college experience and always joked that if I won the lottery, I'd go back to school and get a degree in physics, do something nutty with string theory. But really, thereâs something about the college environment where Iâm most comfortable: everybody is there to learn and grow, and, from each graduate, society receives an opportunity for transformation. The feeling you get walking through a space like that can't really be replicated anywhere else... At least that's the fuzzy feeling I get when walking onto a college campus.
Itâs hard to imagine leaving the only world Iâve known professionally and no longer covering the city I love, but Iâm not going that far. Iâm still working in the same beautiful city and would love for you to say âheyâ when you see me out doing whatever. You may also see my byline from time to time, and I think I'd even like to continue doing âthe spreadsheetâ each night polls are open.

I've been wondering around the map for quite some time now in order to find something cause I'm stuck on the main game progress. I have a key, which I can't find a door for, three flames(cause I can't reach the last one) and I'm also missing one lit candle(the one in the center of the 3x3 square). My items are in the screenshot(and idk if I'm right but I believe the first two rows are necessary items to beat the game and the those in the third row are optional??).
Anyways, I got to this room using the remote and b-ball at the top of the map, however, I don't see a path to go back or one to progress forward lol. I suppose it has something to do with the purple door, which has an image of me looking up, but I tried everything I could come up with and got nothing. I also managed to push the one yellow button in the room to the right(under the entrance).
EDIT: Just realized I could bubble over to the other side in the room to the right, which led to me pushing a second yellow button, still stuck tho.
Couldn't find anyone stuck in this room so I had to make a post, thanks in advance!

i (f22) had a huge fight with my mom a few nights ago. here's what happened: i was working till late at night and my mom asked if i wanted some noodles. i said yes. she came into my room and brought me the noodles. i went outside my room to take some water. i was hungry, so i wanted to eat right away. but then she made a comment on my body, told me that i was becoming fatter. for the past year, i have become very sensitive about my body image, and i have been consulting with a therapist about this. but still, comments on my body easily triggers me. i responded to hear briefly, and then went back to my room. but then the sight of the food made me really nauseous, so i put it away, outside of my room. thinking maybe i can save it for later when i feel better about it. i locked my door, and i cried a little. but then, my mom comes, banging on my door, yelling at me to open my door, and starts yelling about how im ungrateful, and starts cursing me. telling me that i'll regret it. she said a lot more things, but i couldn't hear it since my body completely shut down (out of fear, i guess). i froze and could only cover my ears. she said something along the lines of wanting to call my boyfriend and telling him to stop dating me.
i freaked out. i called my boyfriend and cried hysterically about this, and all my negative thoughts came to the surface. i started scratching my thighs real hard to the point it was definitely self harming, and i started to tell him i wanted to die. he panicked, and started to call my sister (f30, lives in the same house). my sister came down to talk to me and knocked on my door. i wanted to open the door, but my body didnt want to listen to me. i just froze and cried.
i heard yelling from the other room, which turned out to be my sister telling my mom off.
silence. i had a mental breakdown.
my mom came banging on my door again. even worse yelling now. start cursing me again. she started telling me that if i wont open the door, then i wont get to call her "mom" again. i mustered up all the strength i have left and opened the door. a little part in me wished she would calm down and listen to me. she didn't. it became worse once she was inside. she told me "you want me to die so bad, huh? i hope i die tomorrow so you'll be happy!!! you're insane!! you're clearly sick in the head! why are you behaving like a child? just see, i'll die tomorrow and you'll see!" she definitely said a lot more. i covered my ears again, all while crying hysterically. she then stormed out of my room and i guess she cried in her room. my brother (m27) started saying i should go apologize since she's the parent and I'm the child. i only calmed down once my sister and my dad started trying to calm me down and gave me water.

Itâs crazy but something about the way he said it penetrated my skull. He was serious. And, he looked nervous, like he had to fight every instinct in his body to say that to me.
The doors closed, while I thought to myself - who the fuck says anything like that?
As I went to hit the button for the fifth floor, some anxiety came over me. I shook it off and pressed it. The guy was probably just off his rockers.
The elevator went up. I scanned my surroundings - a TV bolted to the top corner of the elevator (playing the weather channel), a mirror for the back-wall of the elevator, and some cozy lounge-style music playing. Pretty standard stuff.
âNow arriving at the 5th floor.â
Weird - not sure if Iâd ever been in an elevator that announced each floor it was arriving at. I was sure that if I worked in this building, this would get pretty old quickly.
DING!
The doors opened on 5. In front of me was a reception area with a woman seated at the front desk. She stood up from her seat.
âMr. Davis! Youâre early!â
The gentlemanâs warning from earlier played in my head.
âWeâll be ready for your interview in a few moments. In the meantime, please feel free to take a seat.â
âUh, thank you,â I responded. âIf Iâm, uh, early, maybe I can come back in a few minutes?â
âNonsense! Weâll see if we can speed things up. Heâs been very excited to meet you.â
The elevator doors started closing. I held them open. I wasnât sure what to do here, but everything seemed fine enough. Granted, the receptionist did seem a bit eager, but beyond thatâŚ
From my vantage point, I scanned the office space behind the front desk area. All looked normal - cubicles, folks clicking away at their computer, a kitchen area. Pretty unremarkable.
That is, except for the portrait off at the far end of the office floor. It was very large. I couldnât tell what the picture was of, but I did see a group of employees staring at it⌠almost, admiring it?
âYour wifeâs name is Meredith, right?â
I froze as the receptionistâs question shot a dart right through me. I didnât remember the job application form ever asking for my wifeâs name.
âYou two are thinking of having children, right? If itâs a boy, you want to name him Sam?â
What. The. Fuck? Forget that she was right on the money, this was something Iâd never spoken about before to anyone, including my wife.
Before I could answer, the office workers surrounding the large portrait started singing the Happy Birthday song loudly, in complete and perfect unison. Someone brought out a birthday cake and presented it to the portrait. A portrait that, after a bit of squinting, I realized was a very large version of my highschool yearbook photo.
I backed into the elevator, and pressed the âclose doorâ button. I panicked as it took its sweet time to register.
Press. Press. Press. Come the fuck on.
After what felt like an eternity, the doors started closing. As they closed, I heard the receptionist -
âIâm so curious to know what your insides taste like, Michael.â
Fuck. Me.
Ninth floor. I needed to go to the ninth floor.
I found the 9th floor button and pressed it. It felt like it didnât register my push, so I pressed the button again. And again. Come on, come on, come on, ninth fucking floor. I tried again and again, but nothing was happening.
Fuck it. Iâll go back to the ground floor, I thought to myself. Back to the start.
As I went to press the âGâ button, I realized it was missing. Just that one singular button gone. Fuck.
I was getting claustrophobic. I took in deep breaths to prevent myself from having a full blown episode.
The elevator started moving up again. A panel above the elevator doors lit up with the following number: 11.
Someone was calling the elevator?
I started talking to myself to self-soothe. âItâs okay, someone will call the 9th floor soon. Thatâs where Iâll get off.â
As the elevator approached its new destination, I noticed that the background lounge music in the elevator had changed. It was now an instrumental arrangement of âHappy Birthdayâ. Huh. Not sure why this thing thought it was my birthday.
I glanced at the weather report on the TV. At least it was going to be sunny all week! Silver linings.
âNow arriving at the 11th floor.â DING!
The doors opened, I hung around the inside corner of the elevator beside the buttons. No need to have another nightmare-ish experience, right?
An old woman stepped onto the elevator.
Great, Iâm sure this will be easy to explain to her.
She smiled at me, as the doors closed.
With a lump in my throat, I asked â âWhat floor?â
âGround floor please.â
âUh, Iâm sorry maâam but that button is missing. Maybe we could wait until someone calls us to the 9th floor?â
â9th? No, I think Iâll just go to the 2nd floor instead, then.â
She went to press the button.
âMaâam, I donât think itâd be safe toââ
âI have plenty of friends on the 2nd floor. Itâll be okay.â
Aaaaaaand she pressed it. I didnât feel comfortable cornering an elderly stranger in a seemingly haunted elevator. But I tried again to convince her â
âI know this sounds weird, but I have it under good authority that the 2nd floor probably isnât safe. Iâd strongly recommend not getting off until we reach 9.â
She smiled.
âDear, itâll be alright. You know, I like to take all opportunities that are given to me. Itâs⌠a shame that you turned your opportunity down. I know the folks on 5 are very disappointed.â
I backed up into the corner of the elevator.
I saw the reflection of the old lady in the elevatorâs back mirror. She looked ghastly. Otherworldly.
âNow arriving at the 2nd floor.â
The doors opened. She smiled at me again, and then exited.
I poked my head around the corner to look at the 2nd floor. It was damp. It looked old. More like a cave than an office. I heard a low rumble.
A man dressed in a fancy suit approached the elevator doors and held them open before they could close.
âYou getting off here too, champ? I heard that 5 wanted you. I think we can give you a better offer.â
âIâm good.â
âYou sure, bud? The salary is eight hundred thousand dollars every hour.â
âIâm good.â
âIâm kidding bud. The salary is we remove your eyes so you donât have to see him.â
The floor went pitch black. The low rumble got much louder and started reverberating in my ears. Suddenly, the businessman grabbed me by the collar and tried to pull me out of the elevator.
I clung onto the ends of it. Fuck. Fuck!
I started kicking and headbutting him. I was able to make him let go of me momentarily, as I desperately pressed on the âclose doorsâ button. Miraculously, the elevator responded much quicker this time and they closed immediately.
I tried the 9th floor button again. Didnât work. I pressed 8 instead. Anything to get away from this hell-hole of a floor.
I heard a loud banging on the door as the elevator started taking off. Like an aggressive knock.

As I saw the floor numbers rising -

The banging continued. Just as loud. What the fuck?

The banging on the door didnât subside.

I felt a wave of relief wash over me⌠but I had to fight it.
âBut you said the 9th floor was the only safe one, right?â
âThat was a trick. You followed your gut and you were right. 23rd floor. The real safe floor. You can step out now, man.â
I didnât leave.
âThereâs someone here who really wants to see you.â
I couldnât move.
âHe wants to give you a job. He thinks youâre gonna be great.â

As I pondered my next move in this hopeless situation, I noticed something strange. The button to the 9th floor was lit up. An ominous, crimson-red color.
Before I could do anything else, my phone started ringing. I checked the call.
It was my wife.
I answered.
âBabe. Fuck, I donât know why I didnât even think to call you - Iâm trapped in an elevator and fucked up shit is happening and maybe I should call the cops? Fuck Iââ
âHun. Donât go to the ninth floor.â
âWhat? W-wait, how do you evenââ

Even with me hanging up the call, the muffled sound of the demonic voice coming from my phone continued.

A sudden halt. The elevator stopped. The doors didnât open though. The panel above the elevator doors had no indication on what floor we were on.
As I sat, I heard what could be best described as the sounds of hell coming from outside the elevator. Low grunts of pain. Crackling. A dark hymn.
Was this where I was supposed to get off?
Before I could ponder the question further, I heard a soft tapping on the elevator. A voice from outside â
âDo you want to trade?â said the voice.
I decided to bite, for reasons I still donât fully understand.
âWhat do you mean?â
âWhat if you stay on this floor forever, and I get to go home?â

âBut I really want to go home.â
It almost sounded like the voice of a kid. Fucking hell.

An awkward silence between us.
âHe told me that he wants to wish you a Happy Birthday,â said the kid.

âIt is,â he responded. âItâs the first day of your new life. Your birthday.â

I looked at the TV in the top corner of the elevator, hoping to see the one constant Iâd had during this whole cursed trip - the weather.
Instead, the TV was now showcasing what looked to be CCTV footage. Grainy footage from a camera⌠of the exact elevator I was in. A live feed of this exact moment.
Except, the TV showed me lying down. Looking up with a wide smile on my face.
And something above me on the ceiling. Looking straight down at me.
Him.
The lights in the elevator went off. The elevator plummeted downwards, as I closed my eyes and screamed for dear fucking life.
I waited for the impact.
For what I knew was my demise.
Here it comes.

The receptionist handed me what looked like a button for the elevator.
âFor the ground floor,â she said. âSingle use only.â
I took it and headed towards the elevator.
Then, I turned back to face her.
âCan I maybe take the stairs?â
She shook her head.
âIf you didnât like the elevator, then youâre really not gonna like the stairs.â
Fair enough.
I got into the elevator.
I said a silent prayer to myself as I put the button where it belonged.
It fit without any issue.
I pressed it, and the elevator went down. It was a smooth ride.
âNow arriving at the ground floor.â
DING!
As I got ready to exit, I realized that the ground floor button was missing once again. Strange. I didnât linger on it.
I marched out, ready to get the fuck out of this building.
I noticed a woman running onto the elevator. I tried to stop her, but something in my body wouldnât let me.
The most I could muster was putting my hand on the door to relay a message to her before the doors closed.
âDonât get off until you reach the 9th floor. No matter what.â
The woman just smiled at me.

âBut my interview is on 5,â I replied.
âIâll only say this only one more time. Donât get off until you hit 9th. No other floor is safe.â
Itâs crazy but something about the way he said it penetrated my skull. He was serious. And, he looked nervous, like he had to fight every instinct in his body to say that to me.
The doors closed, while I thought to myself - who the fuck says anything like that?
As I went to hit the button for the fifth floor, some anxiety came over me. I shook it off and pressed it. The guy was probably just off his rockers.
The elevator went up. I scanned my surroundings - a TV bolted to the top corner of the elevator (playing the weather channel), a mirror for the back-wall of the elevator, and some cozy lounge-style music playing. Pretty standard stuff.
âNow arriving at the 5th floor.â
Weird - not sure if Iâd ever been in an elevator that announced each floor it was arriving at. I was sure that if I worked in this building, this would get pretty old quickly.
DING!
The doors opened on 5. In front of me was a reception area with a woman seated at the front desk. She stood up from her seat.
âMr. Davis! Youâre early!â
The gentlemanâs warning from earlier played in my head.
âWeâll be ready for your interview in a few moments. In the meantime, please feel free to take a seat.â
âUh, thank you,â I responded. âIf Iâm, uh, early, maybe I can come back in a few minutes?â
âNonsense! Weâll see if we can speed things up. Heâs been very excited to meet you.â
The elevator doors started closing. I held them open. I wasnât sure what to do here, but everything seemed fine enough. Granted, the receptionist did seem a bit eager, but beyond thatâŚ
From my vantage point, I scanned the office space behind the front desk area. All looked normal - cubicles, folks clicking away at their computer, a kitchen area. Pretty unremarkable.
That is, except for the portrait off at the far end of the office floor. It was very large. I couldnât tell what the picture was of, but I did see a group of employees staring at it⌠almost, admiring it?
âYour wifeâs name is Meredith, right?â
I froze as the receptionistâs question shot a dart right through me. I didnât remember the job application form ever asking for my wifeâs name.
âYou two are thinking of having children, right? If itâs a boy, you want to name him Sam?â
What. The. Fuck? Forget that she was right on the money, this was something Iâd never spoken about before to anyone, including my wife.
Before I could answer, the office workers surrounding the large portrait started singing the Happy Birthday song loudly, in complete and perfect unison. Someone brought out a birthday cake and presented it to the portrait. A portrait that, after a bit of squinting, I realized was a very large version of my highschool yearbook photo.
I backed into the elevator, and pressed the âclose doorâ button. I panicked as it took its sweet time to register.
Press. Press. Press. Come the fuck on.
After what felt like an eternity, the doors started closing. As they closed, I heard the receptionist -
âIâm so curious to know what your insides taste like, Michael.â
Fuck. Me.
Ninth floor. I needed to go to the ninth floor.
I found the 9th floor button and pressed it. It felt like it didnât register my push, so I pressed the button again. And again. Come on, come on, come on, ninth fucking floor. I tried again and again, but nothing was happening.
Fuck it. Iâll go back to the ground floor, I thought to myself. Back to the start.
As I went to press the âGâ button, I realized it was missing. Just that one singular button gone. Fuck.
I was getting claustrophobic. I took in deep breaths to prevent myself from having a full blown episode.
The elevator started moving up again. A panel above the elevator doors lit up with the following number: 11.
Someone was calling the elevator?
I started talking to myself to self-soothe. âItâs okay, someone will call the 9th floor soon. Thatâs where Iâll get off.â
As the elevator approached its new destination, I noticed that the background lounge music in the elevator had changed. It was now an instrumental arrangement of âHappy Birthdayâ. Huh. Not sure why this thing thought it was my birthday.
I glanced at the weather report on the TV. At least it was going to be sunny all week! Silver linings.
âNow arriving at the 11th floor.â DING!
The doors opened, I hung around the inside corner of the elevator beside the buttons. No need to have another nightmare-ish experience, right?
An old woman stepped onto the elevator.
Great, Iâm sure this will be easy to explain to her.
She smiled at me, as the doors closed.
With a lump in my throat, I asked â âWhat floor?â
âGround floor please.â

â9th? No, I think Iâll just go to the 2nd floor instead, then.â
She went to press the button.

Aaaaaaand she pressed it. I didnât feel comfortable cornering an elderly stranger in a seemingly haunted elevator. But I tried again to convince her â
âI know this sounds weird, but I have it under good authority that the 2nd floor probably isnât safe. Iâd strongly recommend not getting off until we reach 9.â
She smiled.
âDear, itâll be alright. You know, I like to take all opportunities that are given to me. Itâs⌠a shame that you turned your opportunity down. I know the folks on 5 are very disappointed.â
I backed up into the corner of the elevator.
I saw the reflection of the old lady in the elevatorâs back mirror. She looked ghastly. Otherworldly.

I poked my head around the corner to look at the 2nd floor. It was damp. It looked old. More like a cave than an office. I heard a low rumble.

âYou getting off here too, champ? I heard that 5 wanted you. I think we can give you a better offer.â

âYou sure, bud? The salary is eight hundred thousand dollars every hour.â

The floor went pitch black. The low rumble got much louder and started reverberating in my ears. Suddenly, the businessman grabbed me by the collar and tried to pull me out of the elevator.

I started kicking and headbutting him. I was able to make him let go of me momentarily, as I desperately pressed on the âclose doorsâ button. Miraculously, the elevator responded much quicker this time and they closed immediately.
I tried the 9th floor button again. Didnât work. I pressed 8 instead. Anything to get away from this hell-hole of a floor.
I heard a loud banging on the door as the elevator started taking off. Like an aggressive knock.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
As I saw the floor numbers rising -

The banging continued. Just as loud. What the fuck?

It felt like I could only move a centimeter at a time. A true snailâs pace. I inched my finger closer and closer to the âclose doorâ button.
I heard footsteps. He was coming back.
With every fiber of my being, I pushed through. I hit the button.

As I pondered my next move in this hopeless situation, I noticed something strange. The button to the 9th floor was lit up. An ominous, crimson-red color.
Before I could do anything else, my phone started ringing. I checked the call.
It was my wife.
I answered.
âBabe. Fuck, I donât know why I didnât even think to call you - Iâm trapped in an elevator and fucked up shit is happening and maybe I should call the cops? Fuck Iââ
âHun. Donât go to the ninth floor.â
âWhat? W-wait, how do you evenââ
âItâs a trick, honey. You have to trust me. The man from before was lying to you. Itâs not safe.â

Even with me hanging up the call, the muffled sound of the demonic voice coming from my phone continued.

It felt like an amusement park ride with no breaks on it. Loose. Dangerous. Flinging up at an insane speed, almost as if it was falling upwards.
âBut I pressed nine?!â I screamed to myself, exasperated.

I'm having a moment so I need to get it out here before I get on with my day.
I co-own a house with my ex, he was incredibly mentally abusive and I'm fairly sure he's a narcissist and a year ago, despite half owning our house, I packed up my stuff and left. I got legal advice and got counselling, he moved on within about 3 months (we were engaged and had been together 5 years) to a co-worker (a subordinate no less).
I got tons of abusive messages from him playing with my head after I left. I tried to explain my side then soon realised that it was pointless, it had never worked and never would because it was all games. The straw that broke the camels back was when he found out I'd gone to the police about his behaviour after he followed me relentlessly around our house and refused to let me sleep.
So we're in the middle of a legal problem with our house which prevents us from selling, and I am SICK TO DEATH of his attitude, overly formal/nice but with this weird tinge of arrogance and hatred, a bit like dog whistling if you know what I mean. He just puts on this super sweet act as though he is the nicest person in the world, but it has this air of "i'm above it all" about it.
This morning he's emailed me about a payment I've refused to make to him until I get receipt of the goods, and he's all "well i'll accept your conditions if there's a witness" and I've just said I don't give a flying eff if you accept my conditions or not, it's happening. He's all "I just want to make this amicable so I don't have to deal with your irrational behaviour" and I just want to punch him straight in the face.
Has anyone else had this and how to you handle it? The only thing I'm grateful for is that i don't have to coparent with this POS.

This is something people outside the cptsd experience seem absolutely unaware of. It goes beyond (and so much worse) the realm of things like depression and anxiety (at least for me).
Your body is overall weaker firstly. We donât go outside much and workouts can be rare (if present at all). Coupled with poor sleep and lack of appetite, you loose so much weight, your muscle strength and endurance bottoms out quickly, tiredness is constant, even the energy to think is too low to improve consistently.
Then there are specific trauma ailments, due to whatever is tormenting you emotionally. For me that leads to a lot of mental block (literally feels like someone jammed a huge block in my brain), tinnitus occurrence, gagging & nausea, to even shaking and shivering in the worst moments. Youâre on edge, ready to breakdown at the slightest inconvenience.
Thereâs the constant medical scare if your symptoms are of some other ailment outside ptsd, and you have to often get tests and vitals checked just to be sure.
Psychiatry medications help you regulate, but also have side effects that can contribute to the above.
Your immune system is overall weaker too. Basic things like flu hit harder and take longer to recover. It can exacerbate any of the above. And if you have any other comorbidity, chronic or mental illnesses already, talk about destination fucked! And letâs not forget the high cortisol level and inflammations all this stress is causing us and priming us for future ailments. Deterioration.
Iâm in the thick of it all currently. And writing this for anyone else dealing with this kind of shit. No wonder we are further low on motivation and the will to exist. Who would wanna live like this! đ¤Ž
Let this be a reminder how much gentler and caring we need to be to ourselves, especially when no one else is. I know you donât even want to because of that. But remember itâs all cyclical, and health really is the most important thing! Iâve lived with depression for almost a decade before, and never felt I was struggling to survive like this! Itâs seems obvious but so hard to achieve stable physical health. But it could ease things so much if we do! Little by little I guess. đ¤
Ps. Sorry if I missed anything. Feel free to use this as a space to call out awareness to other physical struggles if you want to.
Pps. Not getting into the sex-drive aspect of things. Thatâs a differently complex final boss. đš CPTSD really is a souls-like game ainât it. No checkpoint bonfires or trophies though.

Let this be a reminder how much gentler and caring we need to be to ourselves, especially when no one else is. I know you donât even want to because of that. But remember itâs all cyclical, and health really is the most important thing! Iâve lived with depression for almost a decade before, and never felt I was struggling to survive like this! Itâs seems obvious but so hard to achieve stable physical health. But it could ease things so much if we do! Little by little I guess. đ¤
