I signed up for Human Trafficking summit over the weekend (two days ago) that ppl place today at 7am, and at least 6-10 GSs were there. Two of them were volunteers.I stayed all day and just changed seats when I was dusted with BZ by some lady who waved her hand at me pretending to put it around her poor, sexually abused-looking daughter. Snapped a pic and got a full-body/face pic on the lunch break. She was shook when she saw my camera lens catching her. She didn’t stick around.
Two of the GSs were volunteers, and when they dusted their little fingers together I just shook my head and they knew that I knew.
Oh yeah — I found out that while I’m at my apt, the radio frequency burst abuse is coming from the apartment above or below me, based on using my sonic tools app and the flight radar app (screen recording as I toggle between the two), but when I’m out of my apt, it’s always a helicopter or a private owner plane nearby that hits me with the frequency bursts.
One of the incel looking GS’s had a black shirt w/ white lettering that said, and I shit you not, “breaking the yoke of the woke” with a cross beneath it. I gagged laughing.
I hope they come back tomorrow because it’s fun to force them to do sincerely smart shit like attend a human trafficking conference to learn how porn culture is ruining the lives of our youth.

Hello everyone! I have a question I hope someone can help me with. For reference, I built this PC in 2020 and have never had issues with it until now.
Today I installed some new fans for my CPU cooler because I mistakenly broke my previous CPU fan. I took off my CPU cooler, took out the cpu to remove the thermal paste, and put everything back together with the new fans. Only thing that I may have done wrong is allow the CPU fan metal bracket to lightly graze the motherboard. Could I have shorted something?
Upon turning it on, my computer boots EXTREMELY slow now. I have an nvme SSD as my boot drive, so normally it takes 10-20 seconds. Now it takes 2-4 minutes.
I ran CineBench and tried other applications and everything seems to work just fine besides the boot time. Does anyone know what may be causing this and what the fix could be?
I reset bios to default, FYI. This didn’t seem to resolve the issue. The SSD is still the boot drive according to BIOS. See pics for parts lists.
I’d GREATLY appreciate help with this. This computer is my baby.

I figured with this sub being full of people who actually care about the Professor's work, they'd have a better idea of where there might be a collection of print covers. I found this one but all the jpegs are unfortunately broken, so it's unusable.
The specific cover I'm looking for is overall "weird". It has most or all of the 9 members of the Fellowship on the cover, facing forward. A shorter character, possibly Frodo or Gimli, is wearing a helmet or hat that looks like a "Sorry!" game piece. Notably, Legolas is green. Not wearing green, he literally is green and black and looks like an alien or semitransparent ghastly figure. I'm relatively certain it is not an English edition of the book.
I'm not sure if it's for Fellowship specifically or all 3/6 parts. If any of you know what I'm talking about and can help me out it would be awesome.

Hoping someone can help me here because I can't find a clear answer from a Google search.
This is a snippet from a book I recently read, called Black Hole Survival Guide (great book btw, highly recommend):

To get to Sag A\ [the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way]...you will need to boost to near light's speed. Traveling at 0.9999995 the speed of light—just a fraction of one-millionth slower than the speed of light, so very nearly 300,000 kilometers per second—the trip to Sag A* would take 26 years of your life while Earth experienced the passage of 26,000 years.*

The author here doesn't dive too deep into the math of it, which is fine. It's not that kind of book.
But, I'm working on a side project (I'm a writer), and trying to be scientifically accurate (within reason, I am working with a major hypothetical situation), but I guess the thing is that I am not understanding how the suggested speed in this scenario (0.9999995x the speed of light) works here.
Here is where I am at:

• Sag A* is 26,000 light years away.
• One light year is equivalent to nearly six trillion miles that light can travel in a single year of the Julian calendar (365.25 days) going at the speed of light.
• So you'd need to still travel 26,000 of those (6 trillion x 26,000) in order to get to Sag A*, going at the speed of light (so, 26,000 years).
• In order to get there in a reasonably human amount of time (let's use 26 as the book used), you would have to travel at 1000x the speed of light, no?
  • (Please note that I say this understanding we'll never be able to travel at the speed of light under the law of special relativity; this is a hypothetical situation.)
• And then, once you have traveled that distance (26,000 light years) in that time (26 years) going at that speed (1000x the speed of light), 26,000 years would have still passed on Earth, right?

I'm getting further tripped up by the fact that I found several articles, Reddit posts, and Quora answers all saying more or less a similar kind of thing. But I also saw equally as many saying you'd need to go faster than that... Or slower... And the times people are suggesting it would take to travel given a specific speed varied just as much in every response. Some saying 20 to 40 years, some saying 26,000 years. In other words, there are a lot of different answers to a similar kind of question (How long would it take to travel to the center of the Milky Way and at what speed would we need to go?).
If this issue is that we can't hypothetically travel 1000x the speed of light because we'll never even be able to travel 1x the speed of light, I don't understand how someone could travel to the galactic center in 26 years at less than the speed of light.
The math just isn't mathing here for me (but there's also a reason I didn't pursue science as a career lol) I'll stick to my armchair for now but do hope to solve this one nonetheless.

Hey everyone, wanted some feedback on my school list, is it too top heavy? I think I am a strong applicant, and I have dreams of a T10 acceptance, but I’m not sure if I’m overestimating my competitiveness, or if I need a reality check.
Stats: ORM, NY resident, T30 Undergrad, 2023 grad (so two gap years) GPA: 4.00, Psych Major MCAT: Score coming back 6/11, FL average was 524, but felt rushed on cars so I probably did a little lower than FL avg.. Predicting 519-522 score.
Narrrative: Overall, pretty strong ”mental health in medicine” narrative backing up my PS and experiences.
Research: 1500 hours clinical psychiatry research (4 year commitment) 2 published abstracts, 1 first author paper in review, 1 second author paper in review, presented at 1 professional conference, received a $1000 research grant from my uni.
