I am attempting to make my own TTRPG and I am attempting to come up with races to fit the world. I started with your standard humans, elves, dwarves, and gnomes, then I started adding races that would fit with each sort of climate such as fish people for oceans, humanoid polar bears for cold climates, cat people for jungles, two kinds of lizard people for marshes and deserts, amphibious frog people, and physically weak bird-people capable of flight. I am wondering if this is too much and if I should get rid of some of the races such as the frog-people, bird people, and maybe the fish people as well. I don't want to bog down the world with too much, so I tried to make it so that certain races would perform poorly in certain climates as compared to others so there would not be too many varying races to keep track of at one time. I have already made names for all the races and some sub-races for a few of them, but I wanted to get more opinions on if I have made too many or too few.

This might be a long read and yes that hobby is video games.
I(33M) and my wife(32F) have been married for 14 years and together since I was 13 and she 12. We have four kids, three girls and one boy from 4 to 12. I've been playing video games since the 2nd grade (yes super Nintendo). It's always been my favorite pass time and hobby and my best memories from when I was a kid is from me and two brother playing halo and playing call of duty is the only way me and my little brother still connect after my older brother was killed in 2011. I have 5k PC gaming (I'm also a nerd) and an entire room of my house dedicated to gaming. When I came home from Afghanistan in 2013 I was alone and although I didn't know it have the time I played video games online with little brother to cope, we talked and worked on our KD. During that time I was alone, my wife and oldest daughter was still in a different state living with her mom (daughter was born 1 1/2 month before I deployed). She lived with her mom for the help while I was gone but I still spent first four month on my own.
Before I start getting the gaming hate. My kids (all of them) loved playing video games with me (I built the oldest two thier own rigs and the other play on the Xbox and phones). I also make just shy of 100k a year, been in the military for 15yrs, workout regularly, love my wife dearly and have a graduate level education, we own a very nice 300k home in a nice neighborhood and two both less than 3yrs old. That all to say I'm no bum, and I take extreme pride in taking care of my large family because I have alot of memories of my dad being a bum before my dad left him. I at least think I'm a decent dad and husband. I even only drink 4 times a year and only at home never more than 6 beers because my wife dad was an alcoholic.
Now for the reason for the title. Last year in February I was upstairs playing roblox with my 12 and 8 yr Olds during the weekend. I would only play during the weekends. My game room that I spent 7 yrs curating is upstairs right next to the loft where my kids gaming stations are also located. While we are gaming my wife is down stairs watching T.V and while these things are taking place my 4 and 7 yr old were playing in the loft (it's thier play room with an untold number of toys, a couch and a 55in T.V).
All of the sudden my 7 yr old daughter heads for gate that blocks the stairs (I intentionally picked the room next to the stairs) and I ask her "where are you going" because I told them to stay upstairs to let their mom relax. She said that she needed to talk her mommy and she seemed upset and so I'm thing "girl stuff mind your business" and I let her go. Then my wife calls down my 4 yr old. Then my wife yells for my other two. When that happens because the kids were playing with me I went down with them intending to help them do what ever they were supposed to do so we can get back to having fun gaming. What happened wasn't that.
When I went down stairs my wife had our kids line up in front her and she starts laying in them. Very loudly and aggressively, because my then 3yr old had scissors and used them to cut some of her hair. Mind you they where children safety scissors by they seemed to have done the job. My wife was furious and made sure it was know.
She told them that they know that they have to watch the 3-year-old when I'm gaming because they know that I won't and that it's there responsibility to watch her when I'm gaming because I never do. This was the bases of her entire furious rant to them. It went on for 15 - 20 min before I left.
I was beyond hurt. I never cry in front if my kids, I do my best to control my emotions in front of them. I couldn't in that moment. Hearing her tell my kids right in from me that they have to take care of each other because I won't cut me deeper than I've ever felt. So I just grabbed my keys and left. I called my little brother in between wanting to kill someone and crying my eyes out and told him what happened. I couldn't control how angry I was and so I sat in a walmart parking lot for close to an hour while I calmed down. My wife called me constantly. After I calmed down I went home where she acted like I was in the wrong for leaving and wanted me to apologize for leaving instead of talking. I didn't.
I haven't play a single video game since then. This past new years I was drinking (my kids where at my father-in-laws and I was at home with my wife) and my wife used rare opportunity to ask me why I won't play games with the kids anymore and me in that state if mind told the entire truth and allowed my real feeling to show. I told it was because of what she said and overall that she said it to my kids and in my face and how she had no right too. I explained how we always send the kids upstairs to play without us and how it's the whole reason the kids play area exists. I further told her how I even explicitly chose the room I could just to be able to be able to somewhat watch them while I'm gaming and how now I get sick to my stomach when ever I even think about gaming. About how it was how I connected to my brother's and my kids and how it was my only hobby. If I wasn't at Work, the gym, or gaming I was with her and the kids and that half the time even when I'm gaming I'm still with the kids.
To this day I still can't bring myself to game. My son and oldest daughter still ask me regularly to play games with them and my brother is always asking me too jump on call of duty with him. I just can't get over it and I blame my wife and resent her for taking this thing away from me.

Eagles over Packets. Why? Eagles D will help carry them to victory. Hurts ability to run adds more dimension than Love. D line will feast on love. Close game. I think jacobs takes a step back or needs a few games to find his groove. I'd personally would go +12 Packets for wiggle room
Falcons over Steelers. Why? Cousins needs to prove to every person with higher percentages of melatonin in this home opener in ATL that he's not a scrub and that he earned his 100$ guaranteed contact. He has every weapon known to man to succeed on that team plus a not to shabby D. Steelers, Tomlin, Tomlinson, Wilson, WizKhalifa and Justin fields can kick rocks and get their wins after this game.
Cards over bills. Why? Mostly because idk why but figure out the finer details yourself. But seriously, I believe they won't be able to contain Kyler. He's got more to prove than Josh Allen and the bills finally having a full season back from injury. I'd argue the Cards D will be hungrier as well.
Bears over Titans. Why? Caleb Williams seems to be more mature and focused on success than what reports initially were. I think he's gotta play a lil hero ball but I think with the receivers and the D being near top 10 at the end of the season last year the make a statement to the city that Da Bears are back. Levis will have a good team behind but.. ehh.. I think the D let's him down. They'll be good after this first week
Bengals over Patriots. Why? Because Boston hates black people but jokes aside I hope I don't have to explain why.
Colts over Texans. And that's the bottom line because Stone Cold said so!!! I'd like to leave this one up for discussion but I just feel that texans have had everything go for them since last season. Tripping up week 1 wouldn't be a knock to them but I think the O coordinator for the colts, Richardson, Pittman and Taylor..uh.. actually never- mind the Texans win. I think it'll be an interesting match though.
Phins over Jags. Why? Because the women in south Beach are approximately 100x hotter than the ones in Jacksonville. I think speed kills. If the D can pressure Sunshine(can't think of his name) then it'll be though to win the in state battle.
Saints over panthers. Why? Because unless Bryson added 'growing 5 inches' to his off-season todo list or unless all New Orleans floods again then the opener is going to be hype and Carr needs to prove he's not a waste. Also Legette and his southern draw isn't going to draw up anything special to make Carolina magically win this game. I don't give a shit if he can run as fast as his horse qwatah hoaw Dolla Bill.

JETS D puts the clamps on the Shanahans scheme picks purdy a couple times, Rodgers throws around 250ish yards and Hall runs for atleast 75 yards and a TD

- I have this theory that incentives or game strategies can definitely correlate to play contracts in certain instances.

- Last I ignored or chickened out on calling week one in the nfl. I made a video of it for the sub in last year so check it out. But here's how I think it'll go down. Mind this is what I think if 90% of key players are healthy throughout training camp and preseason:

Rulers of the Outer World was stumping me to no end and while I am by no means an expert gamer, I prefer completing difficult challenges with my own strategies before taking to YouTube and seeing what the pros do. After a particularly harrowing night staying up until 4:30am and getting wrecked by Virtual Sephiroth, I decided to take a break and switch to the Legendary Challenges. Cait Sith was the most annoying but still, I managed to clear it which opened up the Zack and Sephiroth fights…
Nevertheless, I decided to give them a whirl because I had gotten sick of Rulers at that point.
Enter To be a Hero.
Cleared it on my first attempt via a casual “mess-around” run where I just wanted to play with Sephiroth (our time with him in the first chapter was way too short) and take virtual photos. You can see in the video that I was practically re-learning to play Sephiroth on the fly and was amazed that I was getting through each round in spite of the rocky start, not to mention Cloud is running a Buster Sword build purely for aesthetics.
Now it’s time for the big one, Bonds of Friendship.
Okay. From everything I was reading, the Sephiroth Challenge is more fun than anything else considering how OP he is so it is perfectly reasonable to clear it even on a blind run with enough luck on your side. Zack? Different story and oooof, did this challenge throw me through the wringer. Still, I managed to clear it after two days and was absolutely flabbergasted watching speed run videos afterwards with the vaunted “Wind Killer” build. Suffice it to say, I probably should have sucked it up and watched a guide or two beforehand as that would have saved me a lot of headache but still, it was a nice feeling of accomplishment knowing that I was able to clear this bout my way.
Finally, I came back to my most hated enemy — Rulers of the Outer World.
After some more failed attempts, I cracked and looked up a few guides. The “Yuffie Dance Attack” seemed perfectly viable and I was this close to implementing it until I stumbled upon a video that showed how to perfect parry Shadowy Chains for those of us (mostly old guys like me) who have lost the lightning fast reflexes from the days of their youth. It’s an infinitely sound strategy that I had never thought of and upon utilizing it, I finally managed to take out Virtual Sephiroth and earn the Götterdämmerung. My run through Rulers was a protracted battle of attrition that required two parts to encompass but still, I am proud of this achievement and will be happily spamming Brumal Form or any other meta setup the next time I give this challenge a whirl.

I am curious to know if anyone else here has had a similar experience to my own. From everything I have gathered, it would appear that the majority of the player base cleared Rulers first and then used the Götterdämmerung to make life easier with Zack and Sephiroth. After seeing so many rage about Bonds of Friendship, I am somewhat shocked that I managed to clear that before the Outer World.
To conclude, I have always been intimidated by FromSoft games due to their high difficulty spike and the fact that I would have an extremely difficult time fitting it into my busy schedule. I was this close to purchasing Sekiro back in the summer of 2020 but work finally picked up again so of course, I had to put gaming on the back burner. A lot of my friends have tried to convince me to give Elden Ring a shot but again, the learning curve dissuaded me. I enjoy platinuming games but usually prefer simple affairs as I am far from being an expert gamer. Remake was definitely challenging but fair as there were only a couple trophies that truly tested me. With Rebirth, I was tested over and over again to the point that I got numb to it. Hell, I spent an entire weekend on the Chocobo Races alone as I am basically crap at the racing genre.
Now having earned the Platinum, I have a question for all the FromSoft players on this forum. How would you rank Rebirth’s platinum compared to Elden and Sekiro? If I was able to survive the Brutal and Legendary Challenges here, would I stand a chance against Malenia even without elite players carrying me? What about the Sword Saint?

So first off, I dont hate the second game. I dont care for the story or lack there of but the gameplay was a solId improvement over part 1 forsure and as everyone already knows this is a controversial topic among TLOU fans and I already know that people are likely to start trashing each other's opinions, but try to remember this is just my opinion. That being said, I see only 2 outcomes for season 2 of the TLOU. Either they will follow the story from the game(regardless of whether you liked their changes or not, they barely did this in season 1) which "in my opinion" has far less adaptability to a TV series and felt less story centered and at least to me far less moving as the story was in part one, and TLOU 2 fans of the 2nd game review bomb it because as I said "IN MY OPINION" it just doesn't have the meat and bones of an easily adaptable story and there for will be bland and mostly un-eventful in comparison to season one. OR they will DRASTICALLY change the story(which is the most likely outcome), and TLOU 2 fans will review bomb it because it doesn't resemble the game they love. Even if you remove the over whelming hate the casting choices have already received from again about half the fan base that will just hate the 2nd game/show regardless I still don't see any outcome that leads to a good outcome for season 2. THAT ALL BEING SAID AGAIN THIS IS JUST MY OPINION AND I WILL BE GLAD IF I'M WRONG. I can be a bit pessimistic sometimes, lol. WHAT ARE YALLS THOUGHTS?

it might be worth noting that while I agree that season 1 was well made and well received(mostly by people who had never played the game), I hated it. They got the first episode and the last episode mostly right but everything in between is not at all TLOU story regardless of whether you liked it or not thats a fact not my opinion, it was almost entirely different and then there's the fact that they made joel 10years older than he was in the original ps3 version. WHY!? Why follow what the remake changed and not the original award winning game that made it famous, but ok.Then they decided to make Joel insanely weak and scared in comparison to the character we all know and love from the games........ REALLY?? So you took the character that the game became famous for and decided it was a good idea to utterly change everything about him? Just....wtf......explain to me how that makes sense or how it in ANY way is the first good and "true to the game" television adaptation because it simply isn't at all a faithful adaptation. Calling it a "faithful adaptation" is quiet literally and factually a blatant lie.

Has anyone here had their controller randomly disconnecting during a race? It's happened to me 3 times during this week and I'm wondering if it's the game or the controller. It hasn't disconnected during other games. Only Forza.
The way it happens, let's say I'm on the gas turning right. The controller light starts flashing and I have no control on the car anymore. It basically froze the controls as I had it before it disconnected. So it stays on the gas and turning right. Eventually sending me into a wall before the game realizes the disconnect and ghost the car.

I haven't played since Vanguard dropped since I have an aversion to kernel level anti-cheats, especially since Vanguard requires that it launches with your OS at startup. I would perhaps be fine with it if it was a silver bullet, but it's just one part of the arms race between game developers and cheat developers. Now I'm thinking it would be ideal to buy a new computer entirely if I wanted to play, and that's just not realistic.

It is designed very differently, and you go into the game with widely different goals than in league. Not to mention that turbo mode matches are even shorter than league matches. I'm also picking up fencing. It turns out that physical sports turn on some of the same regions of the brain as competitive games do, at least for me. It's making me think that I may actually touch grass as a recovering league of legends player (never before seen).
Regardless, I've heard you guys don't like the new crit items very much. I hope some of you join me in the forbidden game where you can buy zhonya's hourglass and target enemies instead. Might as well, right?

Hi there, I've been playing Fortnite since Chapter 1, Season 1. Put in a rather decent amount of cash and effort and I used to enjoy this game a ton. Since then I've started to notice something as of the most recent seasons, my XP is genuinely getting deflated constantly. I can't enjoy the game like I used to and I'm starting to speculate my account is being targeted because of it's age and worth. I'm barely able to even complete the bonus levels. I spent around a whole hour and thirty minutes or so in rocket racing for a bit because I remembered that gave me really good xp originally, sure enough, not even a single level up. My friend has been getting massive amounts of xp and there account doesn't have much on it. The same with my partner. It seems genuinely like I'm being targeted with all this being said. Not even XP maps give me good XP anymore.

Just wondering what you guys think. Skyrims lighting originally was pretty bad, but that was 2011. I did play a bit of the game before modding it after the update and I definitely noticed a huge improvement to the lighting and shadows.
What exactly did they update in their latest update/AE/SE? Does it go pretty much as far as ENB? Since they're both improvements on something from 2011.
I've seen some comments saying that with community shaders on the newest release people don't even notice a difference with/without ENB. Is the performance hit even worth it anymore? Even if you do have tons of overhead?
I've never seen anyone bring this up, but ENB is literally a hacked dll from a Russian Hacker that scans data on your computer and sends it to his server. Every time you launch the game. I'm not a huge fan of that. Especially since nobody on earth can provide a detailed explanation of exactly what he did and what's going on there. Which means you have no idea what data is actually being collected and sent. Just a fact.

2024.05.16 03:29 Upper_Outside_3911 Just hear me out. The last of us season 2 is doomed to fail.
So first off, I dont hate the second game. I dont care for the story or lack there of but the gameplay was a solId improvement over part 1 forsure and as everyone already knows this is a controversial topic among TLOU fans and I already know that people are likely to start trashing each other's opinions, but try to remember this is just my opinion. That being said, I see only 2 outcomes for season 2 of the TLOU. Either they will follow the story from the game(regardless of whether you liked their changes or not, they barely did this in season 1) which "in my opinion" has far less adaptability to a TV series and felt less story centered and at least to me far less moving as the story was in part one, and TLOU 2 fans of the 2nd game review bomb it because as I said "IN MY OPINION" it just doesn't have the meat and bones of an easily adaptable story and there for will be bland and mostly un-eventful in comparison to season one. OR they will DRASTICALLY change the story(which is the most likely outcome), and TLOU 2 fans will review bomb it because it doesn't resemble the game they love. Even if you remove the over whelming hate the casting choices have already received from again about half the fan base that will just hate the 2nd game/show regardless I still don't see any outcome that leads to a good outcome for season 2. THAT ALL BEING SAID AGAIN THIS IS JUST MY OPINION AND I WILL BE GLAD IF I'M WRONG. I can be a bit pessimistic sometimes, lol. WHAT ARE YALLS THOUGHTS?

REALLY?? So you took the character that the game became famous for and decided it was a good idea to utterly change everything about him? Just....wtf......explain to me how that makes sense or how it in ANY way is the first good and "true to the game" television adaptation because it simply isn't at all a faithful adaptation. Calling it a "faithful adaptation" is quiet literally and factually a blatant lie.

1- Spectate race needs to be fixed, not having it is just hurting the game mode. Not having camera angles to follow along the race with like your watching a broadcast is just leaving so much content on the floor.
2- private races should have a restart race option so you don’t need to load out to start a new run. If you could sprinkle in a set respawn point so we can practice those tricky spots in maps we are having problems with.
3- let’s not reset ranks, but for unreal lets reset the standing more often to get everyone engaged. If it was once a month you could use each months #1 racer for an amazing yearly recap race. To see who took #1 overall for the year. That way you level to unreal, and you can enter the unreal tournament. So the very best have their own lobbies. It would be better for the eco system
I think with these 3 things getting implemented this game mode will become so much more. The spectating will lead to better players, and more hype for the unreal tournament lobbies. Private races having a more of a practice vibe will also increase the talent pool of racers, making the other two better.
