KiCad downloads libraries in every reopen

2024.05.13 19:08 No-Construction7807 KiCad downloads libraries in every reopen

I am new to KiCad, whenever I start a new project or open the schematic of a project of mine, when I click on "Add symbol" it downloads libraries again and it takes around 5 minutes to download them all.
It doesn't matter if its a new project or old. Everytime I reopen the schematic and try to add something its downloads again. Is there a way to fix it or should I wait for it to download again and again everytime I open the project. Thank you

2024.05.13 05:00 srkr_bhrdwj Light theme in KDE Fedora 40

Light theme in KDE Fedora 40
When I updated KDE Fedora 39 to Fedora 40, KiCad 8.0.2 is in light theme.
I am trying to find how to get it back to Dark theme.
Is anyone else facing the same issue?
(PS. The issue is with the flatpak version of KiCad, there is no issue with the Fedora dnf version)

Okay I give up. What do each of the symbols on the f-keys mean?
I've tried Googling and looking at manuals. Is there a link to a schematic of the symbols?

2024.05.12 18:40 justjools22 Pi 2040 components for ADK upgrade - what is it?

Hi, I was interested in adding components: DAC, ADC to the RP2040 to have the same functionality as the Pi 2040 ADK. I couldn't find a schematic but apart from the DAC and ADC is there much going here? I'd like some advice on hardware components used for the Pi 2040 ADK. and if this is possible, first to breadboard and then prototype a circuit that is similar in functionality - it doesn't have to be the same.
Here is a list components from ADK link below, which I have already.
1×PCM5100A DAC 1×ADC128S102 ADC 1×RP2040
Here is the spec from Github:

2024.05.11 14:09 William0110 Band gap circuit design problem

Band gap circuit design problem
HI! I'm a university student studying analog circuit design, my current assignment is to design a bandgap circuit, specifically the sizes of the resistors and the OPAMP shown in the first picture, I'm using umc018 process in cadence virtuoso.
The requirement is to make sure ∆VBG/VBG is below 2% across PVT corners :-40~125˚C, ff~ss, as you can see in the second and the third picture, my choice of resistor size can only achieve best result of 2.4%, TA specifically told me to use only one sizing and using multiplier to obtain the desired resistance ratio.
I have the following questions:
  1. How to improve ∆VBG/VBG
  2. Are R1 and R2 supposed to have same resistance value or are they supposed to be different?
  3. I've tried different W, L on each resistors while mantaining the same resistance values, which could yield significantly better result, shown in the fourth picture, does this mean the temperature properties of the real resistors are the main issue here?
EDIT: the diode ratio is required by the question to be 8:1, the 5th picture is the full circuit, in which the rectangular symbol is my OPAMP, the 6th picture is the circuit of the OPAMP .
Schematic
Design
Same sizes using only multiplier
This is using different sizes

2024.05.10 21:02 Vegetable_Ad_161 Magic system for only one character 'cause I want it. Firstly, the story, then share ideas of powers. (is written how exactly)

In the world of magic, miracles and nightmares, there are many sentient species, gods and travelers from different realms never seen by any local creature. The one very special race is human one. The human is unique and incredible in its variability. Most of them has unique and not repeating magical, naturally given by birth powers. Some get 1, 2 or even 3 and more powers in rare cases, those abilities range from drawing fire from hands to summoning artificial not as mighty, but black holes. Some, unfortunately, can get none of the wonders. However, there is still hope for the unlucky ones, since many different techniques and studies were revealed by their ancestors, and as valuable knowledge was saved in books and passed on to the next generations.
But once a person with such an unordinary, extreme and marvelous power was born into this world. And his name was "Maximus Versel". Maximus was a prodigy. He was taught many wonders and everyone was in awe of his learning speed, every magic he was learning, he was grasping on the fly, as quickly as almost no one in the past had been doing it. And yet he didn't know about his power until 15 years old, but when he discovered it, the experiments have started and were there the uncountable amount of them.
Now, I will write like a normal person. (because describing this ability this way is too difficult and time consuming). On the hands of his Maximus has a set of sigils, which define what spell will appear what it will do.
There are 4 main sigils, 8 secondary and 3 conditional ones and each has its own slot:
Left Maximus' hand
Right Maximus' hand
All of the sigils are such that you can draw them without taking your hand of a paper if you need to portray them. They are classified by 5 types: [ I will use letters, colors and numbers to tell about each feature in a slot]
  1. A stands for Action - what to do. For example: cut, smash ;), block, parry, push and etc.
  2. F stands for Form - in what shape will the magical matter be. For example: cylinder, cube, very long and thin cylinder with a cone on the end the same diameter(a basic spear). They can be any shape of any complexity.
  3. T stands for Trajectory - where the projectile go. For example: upside down parabola (movement with an account for gravity), a straight line, a dotted line to show regular change in speed which also is controlled by Maximus just thinking about it and contracting muscles as if it was a thing he was pushing.
  4. E stands for Effect - What will happen if something contacts with the projectile (it is portrayed by colors and simple shape inside a slot the same color as a slot, and I suppose i will make the slots filled with color, not hollow and circular for that). For example: Electric(yellow with spark) - generating electric power, Green(with a ball) - bouncy, Blue (with a very thin rectangle) - reflects a part of an impulse of an object back.
  5. => stands for Condition (or C if you wish) - On what condition will it turn into a different kind of spell. this is why there are 8 more slots on the right hand. I don't know how to portray that yet. First arrow tells under what condition will the spell turn into the spell described by green slots with number1 . Second arrow tells under what circumstance will the secondary spell transform into(Blue color with number2). Third Idk yet, maybe, I will erase it completely.
Sigils. The design may vary in the future and not consistent for now.
The Conditional sigils, as I said, are not complete and I idk how to show them. So, let it just be presented in text on next pictures.
And so this way complex and in my opinion interesting spells are created, here is an examples:
and transforms into:
So in conclusion Maximus fires a metal-like suriken out of dorsal side of his hand that flies in a curved trajectory and explodes on contact (let's say on contact because idk how to portray it on the hand itself)
schematic for the spells
There you go. Tell me what do you think about the system and please, give me some ideas for the spells [I created a lot, but it's too hard to show their schematics]. The ones I like the most I will add in the comment I will leave with the nickname of the author, of course. (Also don't pay attention to my poor writing skills, English is not my native) Thanks for reading that massive text!

2024.05.10 03:28 shortboy123 ***The human has saved us!***

[I really like the trope that humans are hardier than most but not immortal. They can take a fatal wound and keep at it but the death will be slow. Something like death by 1000 cuts (could be radiation poisoning, A previous wound or something else that would instantly a weaker species) I'm not a great writer (I'm in an engineer with little writing experience), but here's my take on the idea I had. I wrote this in two parts, so please enjoy. Might be a little discontinuous due to a lack of sleep the past few days.
[PT 1]
Warning klaxons blared through the ship's corridors, previously brightly lit, now ominous as red reserve lighting outlined their shape. The human was sprinting full tilt towards the bridge, occasionally pausing to glare at data readouts from their wrist pad, hoping it would miraculously fix the situation. As they sprinted, a power bank next to them overloaded, raining sparks over their exposed arms and legs.
Ignoring the searing pain of burns, the human—known to their crew as Taylor—pushed on. Every nerve ending screamed in protest, a testament to the human body's resilience and its tragic vulnerability. Their mind, while focused, buzzed with a faint, treacherous static of radiation creeping deeper into their cells.
As Taylor burst through the bridge doors, their arrival drew a collective gaze. The atmosphere was thick with tension, the crew's alien features marked by varying expressions of concern and bewilderment—not just for the ship, but for Taylor's reckless sprint through the hazardous zones.
"We have a breach in the reactor room," Taylor reported, their voice steadier than they felt. "Radiation levels are climbing. We need to seal it off and vent the affected sections, or we won't have a ship to worry about much longer." The captain, a towering figure from a species known for their calm demeanor, nodded. "Can it be patched remotely?" Taylor shook their head, wincing slightly as a wave of dizziness hit them. "No, the primary systems are fried. I'll have to go in."
A murmur rippled through the crew. Going back into the radiation zone was a suicide mission, and they all knew it. But human stubbornness was legendary; once their mind was set, very little could sway it.
"You've been exposed," the ship's medic—a creature with luminescent blue skin—interjected, their voice tinged with worry. "Another dose could be fatal."
Taylor managed a grim smile. "We're all dead if that breach isn't contained. I can still function. Let's make this count."
With a brisk nod, they turned and headed back to the corridors, each step heavier than the last. The red lights seemed to pulse in time with their heartbeat, a morbid countdown to an inevitable conclusion. They moved with a purpose, the human tenacity shining as a beacon of both hope and tragic folly.
Behind them, the crew worked to coordinate their efforts, their voices a mixture of commands and softly spoken prayers in a dozen languages and dialects. Taylor's figure, silhouetted against the flickering lights, was both gallant and heartbreaking—an embodiment of humanity's fierce desire to fight against the dying of the light, even as their own light began to dim.
As Taylor re-entered the reactor chamber, the door sealed with a definitive hiss behind them, locking them in with the invisible menace. Their wrist pad beeped incessantly, a grim reminder of the escalating radiation levels. Despite the protective suit, they knew it was only minimally effective against such intense exposure.
The reactor's control panel was a mess of flickering lights and dead screens, a battlefield of failed systems. Taylor moved quickly, pulling up schematics on their wrist pad with trembling hands that belied their deteriorating condition. They patched into the manual override, fingers flying over the keys with a precision born of desperate necessity.
Outside the sealed chamber, the crew monitored Taylor's progress through shaky camera feeds, their own tasks momentarily forgotten. The radiation was not just a silent killer but a relentless thief, robbing Taylor of vitality with each passing second.
"Okay," Taylor murmured to themselves, their voice a hoarse whisper that carried through the comm link, "let's reroute the power, stabilize the core." They executed each step with painstaking care, fully aware that any mistake could be catastrophic. The radiation was a heavy, oppressive force, pushing against them like a physical weight. Taylor felt it in their bones, a deep ache that grew with every breath they took as their skin began to turn a deep red and develop welts. A major sign of extreme radiation exposure.
As they worked and pushed through the pain, their thoughts drifted to why they fought so hard. For humans, the instinct to survive was paired with an equally strong impulse to protect. Here in the depths of space, aboard a ship full of beings who had become their family, Taylor's human nature drove them to sacrifice.
Finally, the indicators on the panel shifted, the glaring red warnings flickering before settling into a steady amber. "Stabilization in progress," Taylor reported, a faint smile touching their lips as they slumped against the console.
"You need to get out of there, now!" the captain's voice crackled over the comm, urgent and commanding.
With the last of their strength, Taylor pushed themselves off the console and staggered towards the exit. Each step was heavier, the distance seeming to stretch endlessly before them. Taylor collapsed just as they reached the door, their body no longer able to withstand the brutal assault of the radiation, as the world faded to black and she was released.
[PT 2]
In the medical bay, Taylor lay on a narrow bed, their breathing shallow and laboured. The room was quiet, save for the soft hum of life-support equipment and the occasional murmur of medical staff moving efficiently at their tasks. The crew had done everything possible to mitigate the damage, but radiation poisoning of this magnitude was beyond their current medical technology.
The captain stood beside the bed, their expression grave. They were joined by the medic, who was updating a digital chart with a grimace. "The radiation has infiltrated their system too deeply," the medic explained softly, their voice barely a whisper. "We've managed the symptoms as best we can, but the cellular decay is extensive."
Taylor's eyes fluttered open, their gaze meeting the captain's. "Did we stabilize it?" they asked, their voice a thread of sound.
"Yes," the captain responded, their voice thick with emotion. "You saved the ship, Taylor. You saved all of us."
A faint smile crossed Taylor's lips. "Good," they murmured, a sense of satisfaction evident even through their pain. "That's good."
Crew members from various species lined up quietly outside the medical bay, each waiting for a moment to express their gratitude. Despite the vast differences in their forms and expressions, the universal language of respect and sorrow was unmistakable.
One by one, they entered, standing briefly by Taylor's side. Some offered words of thanks, others simply placed a hand gently on Taylor's arm, or their own equivalent gesture of comfort. Taylor acknowledged each with a nod or a weak smile, their eyes conveying more than words ever could.
As the line dwindled, the medic administered another dose of pain relief, though they knew it was merely a palliative measure. "Rest now," they urged gently, adjusting the blanket over Taylor.
The room grew quiet as the effects of the medication took hold, easing Taylor's discomfort. The lights dimmed, casting soft shadows over the peaceful tableau.
In these final hours, as Taylor drifted between moments of wakefulness and serene oblivion, snippets of conversation from the crew reached their ears—stories shared, laughter, plans for the future. It was a bitter yet beautiful reminder of life's persistence, the ongoing saga of those they had fought so fiercely to protect.
Taylor's mind, though clouded, found solace in these sounds. They reflected on the human condition—fragile, yet fiercely determined. They thought of Earth, of other humans who had also stood defiantly in the face of overwhelming odds. It was a legacy of strength and sacrifice that they were now part of.
As the ship continued its journey through the stars, Taylor's legacy was cemented among those they had saved. They had become more than just a crew member; they had become a symbol of the courage and selflessness that humanity could bring into the vast, often unforgiving universe.
In the stillness of the med bay, with the soft hum of the ship around them, Taylor took their final breath. It was quiet, almost imperceptible—a gentle conclusion to a life marked by a fierce, final act of heroism, as the human passed away.

2024.05.09 19:58 johneever1 Nop,FanFic: Privateers Chapter 28

Thank you u/julianSkies for all your help. Thank you u/SpacePaladin15 as always!
And thank you readers, for taking your time to follow my story.
—---------------------------
“Hi Slans, how are you doing today?”
I ask while setting the vase of elva flowers on his bedside table.
“Better than yesterday I think…”
My ailing old man says while attempting to sit up on his own. Alas, he begins coughing violently so I intervene to make things easier. I help them into a better sitting position and make sure the IV drip is working properly. As the coughing subsides he takes a deep breath.
“Thank the protector, that's the good stuff.”
With him comfortable I take the seat next to his bed.
“Are you still pursuing that freighter career?”
“Yes… actually landed my first shipboard job, not just spaceport work. I'm going to be leaving in a few days for a quick 10-day back and forth to a nearby colony. It's a trial run but if I do a good job they'll hire me permanently.”
Dad looks a little bit melancholy at the news.
“Still pressing forward despite my warnings about how dangerous it is… you know ships constantly go missing.”
Shifting my chair I nervously catch the tip of my tail and begin messing with it a bit.
“It might be dangerous in some areas… but I'm only going to do the safe routes and even they bring in good credits. Plenty enough to help not only take care of you but also help you actually recover. Before ya know it you'll be back up on your own paws again.”
“JR…” he mutters before coughing. “You know as well as I this isn't how our last conversation truly went.”
“What?”
Last conversation?
“It started off pleasant, sure. But quickly devolved into the usual arguing, about me disapproving of your career path. You promised Necal was going to be here any day to see me. Alongside so many other frivolous things… The strain of which eventually culminated with me having a massive heart attack. One that sent me into a coma, from which I never awoke… instead of replaying the same sad act, I wish to discuss your new career.”
Stunned I remain still as a statue seated in that awful hospital chair.
“You're… right? Why do I feel like this happened before?”
“Because it did, years ago, but that's not the point… how do you feel about the privateers JR.”
“It's a job and a really good paying one at that. I can't complain too much… especially since it saved the family home.”
Looking almost directly through me Dad smirks.
“A lie of omission is still a lie. I can see the new weight upon your soul this job has created. I agree it pays well, but is the cost to your sanity one you're really willing to pay?”
Steeling myself I find the confidence to reply.
“Yes…”
Shaking his muzzle, Slans sr chuckles.
“Should have figured, I couldn't talk you out of things when I was in the flesh… Why should I think now I could do it in this state?”
Before I can respond he casually swings his atroped legs off the side of the bed and sits on the edge. He does this without a single cough or struggle. Looking at me muzzle facing muzzle he smiles.
“If you are going to continue, you have to learn that not everything is your fault… especially things that are way outside your control from the get-go. You may have told everyone else that you moved on from the victory accident but in your heart I can see it still affects you.”
“But I brought the privateers to the system…”
I meekly whimper out holding back tears.
“You weren't in charge of the victory, you had no control over its operations, you didn't shoot it down… please for your own good you must let go of that unwarranted guilt over that situation. Your friends are going to need you at your best in the upcoming events that are to unfold.”
Drying a few tears up with my tail I look at my father completely lost.
“Wh…what events are about to happen.”
He just smiles sadly before laying back down in his bed.
“Before I go tell Ven he must be reserved and wait for the opportune moment to strike…”
Suddenly a blaring noise shatters the world and everything falls away.
Memory transcription
Subject Name: Slans.
Species: Venlil.
Job: Privateer intelligence and navigation officer.
Location upon transcript: Aboard Privateer flagship S.S.S Retribution.
Date [standardized human time]: March 3rd, 2137.
A howling alarm jolts me out of my deep slumber. Disoriented and confused I attempt to escape. But my legs get tangled up in the blankets and send me straight from my bed onto the deck with a thud. Smacked back to reality by the unyielding floor, I'm a lot less confused and disoriented… even if my head now really hurts. Opening my eyes the room is currently illuminated by the crimson color of Retribution’s emergency lights.
“Alert! All hands to stations, multiple unknown vessels entering the system! Repeat…”
Freeing my lower limbs I then scrambled to my paws. In a mad rush I quickly don my belt, jacket, hat and Boots before rushing out.
Entering the hallway I'm run into by a large human… Neither one of us falls over luckily. But he doesn't say a word as moves past me and continues sprinting.
Knowing where I'm needed I start running to the bridge as fast as my legs will carry me… the halls of the ship are packed with individuals trying to get to stations as quickly as possible. Men that I know for a fact were blackout drunk yesterday look stone cold sober today.
Just before reaching my destination another announcement comes over the intercom system.
“Vessels identified, they are not Federation vessels but Dominion raiders!”
What!!!!! Here? Now? How? AHHHHHHHHHHH!
With internalized panic but outward composure I step onto the bridge. Where the hallways felt like pure chaos, here it's a much more organized madness. Bridge staff rush back and forth between stations, despite not looking up from their work they never collided once. Marching right up to the navigation station. I start questioning my subordinate as to the situation.
“How did our Intel networks not see them coming?”
Flustered but focused on the screen before them the man responds.
“A raiding party from the Dominion showing up unannounced this far from the front lines shouldn't be possible!… The Federation should have encountered them before us.”
With a stern look I keep an eye on the multiple signals amassing just outside FTL disruptor range.
“You're right, the Federation border patrol should have spotted this massive force long before us. You're telling me none of them encountered this fleet before it got here?”
The subordinate looking over some reports quickly responds with…
“It would appear the Federation has been pulling back quite a lot of their patrol vessels to the Haf system as of late. This move has left massive holes in their coverage of the front line and by extension our own.”
“Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccckkkkkkkkkk!”
As Morgan comes onto the bridge I look at him and apologize.
“Sorry for the failure in Intel sir…”
With a motion of his hand Morgan basically tells me to be quiet.
“It's not your fault… your men have done well. Wasn't your choice for the Federation to pull back critical patrol ships leaving holes in their own perimeter… Slans, what's the status and numbers of the dominion vessels?”
Looking at the terminal, I relay its displayed information.
“Sensors picking up around 1500 vessels give or take a couple dozen… they haven't moved deeper into the system, instead they have adopted a defensive pattern just outside the FTL disruptor range…”
Suddenly I'm interrupted by the sounds of an incoming communications request… the crewman at the coms station gasps.
“It's… the Dominion fleet's Commander. They wish to have a face-to-face discussion with our commander.”
Straightening his uniform Morgan stands tall in front of his chair, left hand on their sword's hilt. He puts on an air of steely determination as his eyes look straight ahead.
“Put them up on the screen, let's see what they want.”
A few [seconds] pass before the main screen comes to life with the image of a Dominion vessel's bridge. Around the camera's periphery its homogeneous crew are doing a variety of different tasks. But front and center sitting in a captain's chair is a rather mean looking scarred up arxur.
The beast smiles bearing its teeth, Morgan doesn't flinch and neither does anybody else on the bridge. On our side the mood is tense but resolute, the captain after a moment smiles back at the monster.
“I am Commander Henry Morgan of the Privateers. Who do I have the pleasure of talking to?
The being on screen turns to a subordinate and says.
“They do keep livestock on their bridge…”
The person they spoke to then responds with.
“Maybe it's a version of the free range farming practice… I have heard apparently prey raised without too much fear tastes differently.”
The seated being turns back to look at the screen with its binocular eyes.
“I'm Rapax, lead Hunter of the 731st raiders… here to raid this prey system in the name of the prophet.”
“Sorry to burst your bubble, but it seems like we've already beat you to it…”
Morgan casually quips back while his smile grows wider. To the obvious annoyance of the gray on screen.
“You may be predators as well, but I think it's pretty obvious who's the superior race between us. So unless you want a beating I suggest you leave the system.”
The Dominion commander growls back. But Morgan still doesn't waiver in his determination.
“I don't know about that necessarily… Humanity did give the Dominion quite the bloody nose at the cradle despite being outnumbered and surprised.”
The Grey's annoyance seems to dissipate a little bit and is replaced by slight amusement.
“Haha, that was only because we didn't know you existed and went in planning to slaughter prey. Not fight another predator, even if you are omnivorous… at the end of the cycle that makes you more capable than the herbivore. This time we wouldn't have such surprises hobbling our capabilities. We know what to expect from your kind.”
“I personally doubt you really grasp my species' full capabilities, especially when we don't even know its limits…
However what we both can probably agree on is attempting to dislodge us by force would undeniably cost you dearly. Plus we have plenty of reinforcements not too far away who can come in at any moment. Unlike you who are far behind enemy lines with no support at all.”
Technically we have those reinforcements… but most of them are scattered across different shipping routes and would take time to coalesce at Arga. Let alone most of the reinforcements at Arga are currently undergoing major refits and would be unable to immediately come to our aid.
“Dominion cruelty and fury would win the day against your lot… even if you have a few traitors bolstering you with stolen Dominion assets.”
It's here Morgan Proverbially puts his foot down with an outburst of…
“Despite whoever wins it will cost them dearly! A fight between us here would only result in the unnecessary slaughter of countless sentient beings on both sides.”
Taken aback slightly, the gray Commander begins to chew on those words. Meanwhile recomposing himself, Morgan continues in a much more civil tone.
“Honestly my fellow predator… Why should civilized folk fight each other when there is plenty to go around.”
Visibly interested the arxur leans in.
“What kind of trickery is this…”
“Not a trick at all, just honest to God offer to split the spoils without a fight. That way we both walk away from this system richer and more powerful than before.”
The Dominion leader ponders for a few moments then slams his scaly fist onto his chair's armrest.
“Fine… I'm in no extreme hurry, I'll humor your human culture of frivolous talking for now. But if you waste my time I will fight you to the death.”
“Likewise Rapax, likewise. We shall have our negotiations over a dinner aboard my ship in say 3 days. So that way you don't feel like there's any funny business, we shall send some of our officers to eat on one of your ships at the same time. How's that sound to you?”
“Sounds fair.”
“Good, I'll send over a document with more information on what will happen until then have a good day.”
The monster nods and the screen cuts off… Morgan turns to Edward and says.
“Time to enact the imperator contingency”
<<<[ 1 hour later]>>>
Fidgeting in my seat I try to make myself that's comfortable as possible in Morgan's overcrowded study.
“Venator… What are your recommendations?”
Morgan says officially kicking off the meeting. Ven for his part looks quite thoughtful as he stretches his gloved claws.
“I met Rapax before sir, it was years ago but he seems just as much of a Dominion boot licker now as he did then. I honestly don't believe we will actually be able to negotiate with him. Might be better to launch a surprise attack and wipe him and his forces out.”
Arguing instantly erupts, engulfing the room. However just as abruptly as it began It's quickly stopped by Morgan firing his flintlock into the air. Looking up I see there's no hole in the ceiling meaning it was probably just a powder charge. Pulling out a paper cartridge Morgan uses his teeth to rip the top off and begins pouring its powder down the pistol's barrel.
“Too risky… If word got back to the Dominion that we annihilated this fleet while under the guise of attempting diplomacy, well… at best the privateers would effectively be at war with the Dominion. At worse, given were predominantly a human lead operation, they may interpret any actions taken by us as an extension of the UN. Thus use our aggression to justify a potential war on the UN and Coalition.”
Having emptied the cartridge, he wadds up a bit of paper and Rams it down using a ramrod.
“I will not risk being the one to drag Humanity into a two front war. Even if negotiations don't work we have to show that we attempted them… that way if this Commander attacks it's on him not us.”
Venator sighs while leaning back in his chair and rubbing his scaly face.
“I got your point sir… just don't get your hopes up.”
“I won't… but on a side note, I would like to get you and your men’s situation sorted… somehow. Given we have stolen Dominion ships along with the crews that defected to us. It technically means our standing with the Dominion is already dicey. So hammering out some kind of compensation deal where they will let go of their claims on you guys and those assets would be beneficial.”
Nodding his head in agreement Ven leans back onto the table and puts his paws together. His tail swishes back and forth rapidly behind the chair.
“You have a lot more optimism than I have, that's for sure… just be aware they will most likely demand a steep price as compensation for us.”
Ven then shifts his body to more directly look towards Morgan.
“Given this… diplomatic event… is going to happen I suggest heavily emphasizing humanities powers with symbols and imagery. The Dominion loves strength and tradition. So using symbols from that ancient empire as your plan suggests is a good call.
As for food… showing off the abundance and diverse proteins Humanity has available would create a powerful undertone … if you want, in private I'll coach you on how to walk the fine line that is conversation within the Dominion… not too aggressive as to invoke challenges, but strong enough as to not be perceived as weak.”
“I would like that greatly… I can't have myself making any major mistakes and showing weakness to a guy such as this.”
“No we cannot sir…”
Ven says bluntly. Morgan meanwhile turns to Sam, the representative of privateer production capabilities.
“How's production going on the symbolic gear we shall be needing for the meeting?”
“Pretty good actually… When you enacted the contingency, schematics were immediately sent to all foundries. Given that most of it is made up of simplistic parts, it's not that hard to make. A lot of it should be finished and assembled by this time tomorrow… that is if the required furs arrive on time.”
Morgan looks at Simon.
“The vats are working overtime across all our ships sir… the fur, skin and leather is rapidly being grown, they should come in soon. As for the food we're already in talks with our arxur cooks on how best to display human cuisine during this meal. Though most agree we shall stick to products from actual animals.”
“Excellent, excellent… now for the people we're going to send over to the Dominion fleet. Any recommendations?”
Sam speaks up first.
“I recommend colonel Newcomen.”
Morgan looks surprised.
“You want to send a herbivore to a Dominion meal aboard one of their ships?”
“Yes.”
“Elaborate as to the reason.”
“For one given we were herbivores from the start, we were never afflicted with the cure… meaning he can partake in meat without any ill effects. Plus he's not the average herbivore…
Brash and aggressive the man is a whirlwind of death on the battlefield. He's prominently adorned himself in multiple grizzly trophies obtained from the battlefields. Perhaps seeing a herbivore displaying such predatory behavior might plant some seeds of doubt in some gray minds as to the validity of their ideology.”
Morgan seems to be slowly convinced by his arguments.
“I'll take that into consideration though I would have to ask him if he's willing to do it…”
“I have no doubt he would love to go on such a mission, sir.”
Sam happily says with his paws on the table.
“Sounds like we've got one volunteer at least… After this meeting spread the word that we will be looking for volunteers to go eat with the Dominion officers. Make sure they know that they will most likely be taking part in consuming sapient flesh.”
At the final words some of those present look visibly uncomfortable… especially Ven seems to shudder as if trying to force away a bad memory. Morgan in a much more somber tone than addresses everyone.
“I don't like the idea of my men having to partake in such a grizzly act… however we must do what we can to make the gray fleet peacefully leave this place alone… we took their weapons and weakened this system greatly through our plundering. The people are defenseless, we are the only thing standing between them and a hungry maw. If we leave now, we will be just as guilty for their fate as the grays. Whether we like them or not, the civilians of this system are our responsibility at this moment.”

2024.05.06 21:19 govoval Rate my install (progress)

I (a bored engineer) gut renovated my (first and only) house, and was able to slip in the utilites needed for a consealed split. Designed a (reducing extended) plenum (using ductulator), and built it (mostly from round metal duct, with a bit of flex near registers).
Used to maintain a datacenter, and there was a friendly (and very smart) HVAC Tech (owner operator) that got me interested in HVAC.
I purchased a Pioneer system (I know, not Mitsubishi - I'm an idiot), and have just mounted the indoor unit. I've left appropraite clearance for utility hookup, and the unit can be removed by lowering, and sliding out from this elevated bench (within a hallway closet).
Have a few requests/questions:
  1. How would you rate access to the side panels, do you feel that the (8") of clearance is adequate for replacing a circuit board? The condensate drain will have a cleanout.
  2. I have an auxiliary return blower which I'd like to engage when the fan is running, but I can't make sense of the symbols on the back of the wiring panel's cover. I'm a bit more familiar with DIN Standards for (electronic wiring) diagrams. Is there a different standard used for these types of diagrams? I'd have expected to see a relay attached to CN4, but I'm not sure.
  3. I'd like to wire my (central) smoke detectors to interrupt for the unit should it trigger. Don't see a tie-in for this, can I simply create a (fail-safe) series circuit on CN5, so the unit interrupts if there's water, or fire?
  4. I have a UV light which I'd like to have turn on when the compressor is engaged. Is there a simple way to tie this functionality in here?
My next step is to design the header (from the air outlet) with adjustable turning vanes.

So I want to use a lipo battery to power a circuit that has pumps and a micro controller. I'm concerned that I could fry my micro controller or worse while charging the lipo up and in general use. The idea of this circuit is to be able to switch from a charging mode to a use mode with a toggle switch. Can someone check my schematic and make sure I'm thinking about this correctly. I know just enough about electricity to get myself in trouble. I'm a mechanical guy.

2024.05.04 06:33 Confused_Guitar11 Resistor issues

I was running my set when a resistor blew up. No big deal until I realized I couldn't read it. Checked the schematic and where it should be located, on going from one pin to the other on the 35Z5 and it didn't actually exist. Then I looked at the photos I took of the radio prior to repair and saw the colors are different on it! Not just that but the pilot light that this set has also doesn't exist on the schematic or the radio from factory! The radio refuses to operation without the resistor so I'm stuck until I solve this. What even could be the deal here? I have yet to encounter a situation like this. I didn't swap out the resistor at all, I didn't even go near it.

2024.05.03 01:15 SacrosanctProphete Old Friend Exotic Trace Rifle

The Guardian received the Drifters urgent message to meet him as soon as possible. They made their way to the tower and curiously strode into the Drifters sanctum. At first glanced, the room appeared to be normal. The Drifters mote bank of Taken easma spiralled as usual, gambit coins scattered across the floor. However, around the corner to the right was a flurry of boxes, crates and totes in complete disarray. And there hunched over was the Drifter frantically searching for something. All the while, Drifter did not notice that the Guardian and Ghost were watching him search in a panic.
“Uh Drifter?” Ghost said politely, “We’re here.” Drifter: “Ahh!—Drifter jumped and turned to face his visitors—Hero! You made it!” Ghost: Yes, we came as quickly as we could. Guardian: What are you looking for? Drifter: Oh just a little something that’ll bring me into a new age. The Drifter grabbed his crowbar and stuck it into a crate; and with a satisfying crack, he popped the lid off and slid it off to the side. He reached down and pulled out a small black stainless steel case, the length of his forearm. On the centre of the lid, a silver Black Armoury insignia flickered in the light. Ghost: Is this why you brought us here? Drifter: No, but don’t you worry, I got something else special for you…Follow me Hero, a new age awaits! The Drifter scampered over and around the mess he had made. The Guardian nimbly followed. Drifter: Don’t worry about the mess, I’ll get one of Shaxxs’ ‘Dinklebots’ to clean it up.
Together, the Drifter and the Guardian strode out of the Drifters sanctum, Ghost floated on behind running the possibilities of what surprise Drifter had for them. They took a right and quickly turned left and straight towards Ada-1’s Black Armoury chamber. Usually, Ada-1 had an open door policy for guardians to come and go at anytime. However, this time, the way was sealed shut. Ghost: Is Ada away? Drifter: Nope, she’s in there. She just doesn’t want any visitors. But Ada and I have an agreement. I’m always welcome, Drifter assured. The Drifter began tinkering with the sealed door. Ghost: Drifter..if the door is sealed, I don’t think we should be bothering her.. Suddenly, the sound of spinning gears spun rapidly and slowed to a clang. The heavy door seemed to sigh and release from its locked position. Drifter: See I’m always welcome. The Drifter gave a cheeky smile, as he grabbed the door. The door squeaked and slowly swung open as Drifter applied force to it. As they stepped in, beams of radiant red light lit the chamber. Drifter shielded his eyes as the red light overtook the room.
Ada-1 stood behind a control panel watching as a her machines slowly closed a Black Armoury crate which held the source of the bright light…a red engram. The crate hissed shut and sealed; and the colourful light vanished. “What was that!?” Ghost exclaimed, his jaw would have dropped if he had one. Surprised, Ada-1 spun around and said: “Guardian!?” Even more surprised by the true culprit, “Drifter!!” Ada-1: What is the meaning of this? Drifter how many times have I told you, your unexpected visits will no longer be tolerated. If my door is sealed.. “But Ada, your door isn’t sealed.” Drifter retorted, trying to diffuse the situation. “Yes, because you cannot respect my boundaries. Wait until the Vanguard hears word of this.” Ghost swung around to the Guardian not sure if he should interject into the conversation. Drifter: That would be shame if those Lightbears did, but I brought you something… Drifter pulled out the Black Armoury box from his robes. He opened it and pulled out a thin metal card. The front face was black with 3 distinctive Black Armour symbols. Ada-1 stood unresponsive and taken back by the sight. “This..This cannot be!” Ada exclaimed. “This Drifter, will grant you access.” Drifter handed the card to Ada. She held it in her hands awhile. She lifted it up in the light and the 3 distinct symbols flashed. She turned it over and the backside of the card revealed that it was red. Ada-1 approvingly walked back to her control panel and addressed the Drifter sternly. “I will get started. However, I will by no means overlook your ambundant trespassing.” Ada-1 continued to give Drifter a look that would single handedly make the Hive shiver. Drifter simply responded, “Heard you loud and clear…” He turned to the Guardian and Ghost and softly said, “You had my back right Hero?” The Guardian stood unresponsive and glanced at Ghost. Drifter swung a pat on their back, leaned in and said, “Of course you did.” To keep things moving, Drifter spun around and proclaimed, “Now, that that’s cleared up, how about..
“Hold on a second,” Ghost interjected. “What was that engram?” Ada-1 still examining Drifters Black Armoury card slotted it into one of her machines. “I’m afraid that is of little concern to you. Even the Guardian isn’t ready for such an item.” Ghost: Okay but what was inside? Ada-1: Something of EPIC portions…she continued, “More importantly, let’s move onto why you all really came.” Drifter: “Right, let’s get started.” Drifter put on his entertainer façade. He turned to face the Guardian and Ghost, “You two remember when you stormed into the Prison of Elders after Cayde had passed? Ghost: “Of course, we’ve run that strike hundreds of times..I mean, yes.” “Well, before Spider sold the prison back to the Awoken, I went in with one of his salvage crews. We gathered the remains of Variks precious Servitor. With the help of Spiders crew we rearranged the necessary pieces and then I brought them to back to ol’ Ada here.” Without raising her gaze from her monitor, Ada-1 firmly said, “Do not call me ‘old’..” Drifter: “Noted. Anyway..Drifter rubbed the back of his neck and continued his speech, Ada did her thing and she fashioned you a trusty weapon out of Variks pet Servitor. Ada-1 turned to a control panel, hit a couple commands and in the corner of the room a secondary control panel erected itself from the floor. A round contraption with a dome also lifted out of the floor. A fog, what looked like dry ice poured off the sides as it rose. The round contraption came to a halt. The dome spun and cracked open revealing a purplish blue trace rifle that floated in place. The outer shell was that of the Servitors casing. But underneath, lay exposed sections of the frame and other highly intricate and advanced steel of Black Armoury fabrication. On one side of the long barrel of the rifle etched into the outer casing were fallen symbols that could translate to Guardian or Lightbear. The other side, a bold and dominant Black Armoury symbol showed. Layers of the Servitor shell overlapped themselves along the barrel. At the end of the barrel a small lens of the Servitor eye laid. The contrast between the weathered but refurbished Servitor shell casing overtop the sleek Black Armoury steel frame was quite alluring.
Guardian: This is for us? Drifter: Sure is. You’ve earned it Hero. Drifter stepped closer to the Guardian. Both stood admiring Ada’s craftsmanship. “You and Ghost have saved the day more times than any of us can count.” Drifter added.
Ada-1: I have taken the liberty of sending the schematics and specifications to you Ghost. Ghost bobbed and thrilled with the rush of new information. Ghost: This is most generous of you Drifter and Ada. You have our thanks.
The Guardian turned to the Drifter and then Ada and said a grateful, “Thank you.” The Drifter grabbed the Guardian by the shoulders and said, “You, my friend are the Vanguards greatest ally. See, it even says so right there.” The Drifter rotated the weapon 90 degrees towards the ceiling to showcase the underside of the buttstock. He pointed to the words that were etched in the weapon: To The Guardian, The Vanguards Greatest Ally.
Name: Old Friend Tagline: A Loyal and Unwavering Friend Weapon Type: Heavy Void/Solar Servitor Trace Rifle
Intrinsic Trait: Sustained fire on a target shoots a homing weakening concussive blast.
Judgement at Hand: When Supercharged hold reload to switch damage type from Void —> Solar to overpower the weapon and eradicate enemies with a supercharged Solar laser. Drains super. Final blows cause Solar explosions.(Simliar to Agers Scepter)
Unity Resonator: Sustained damage on a target increases damage for you and allies. Continuous damage slowly charges an overshield for you and allies.
Catalyst - Unity Resonator Repeater: Unity Resonator stack and charge increasingly faster with allies who also have Old Friend equipped. (Damage stacks and Overshield charges faster when damaging the same target with allies.)

As a patriot, I appreciate the strong symbolism of the Nine Line Apparel America Men's T-Shirt. The intricate design on the shirt proudly displays the American flag, reminding me of the sacrifices made by those who fought for our country. The 100% combed and ring-spun cotton feels soft and comfortable, making it a perfect choice for daily wear. The high-quality, ultra-soft material ensures that the shirt not only looks good but also feels comfortable against my skin. The shirt's proud printing by Relentlessly Patriotic Veterans & Patriots adds to its allure.
However, one downside I've experienced is that the shirt may shrink when washed. It's essential to follow the care instructions provided to maintain its perfect fit. Cleaning the shirt couldn't be easier, as it is machine washable. Overall, the Nine Line Apparel America Men's T-Shirt is a well-made and attractive piece of clothing that supports a worthy cause.

As someone who has a deep love for America and its land, wearing this Nine Line Land That I Love T-shirt brings a sense of pride and comfort. The soft, 100% cotton material makes it perfect for everyday wear, while the unique "Land that I Love" graphic on the front with an American flag and mountain design adds a special touch. I especially appreciate the American flag print on the right sleeve, which further highlights my patriotism.
However, one thing to note is that the shirt is imported, so it may be slightly less eco-friendly compared to locally made clothing. Overall, this Nine Line T-shirt is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to express their love for America while feeling comfortable and stylish in their daily attire.

🔗9 Line 5 Things Long-Sleeve T-Shirt - Comfortable & Supportive

https://preview.redd.it/e23duygj8rxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b81ac7b2e919d4fc493d9aeb0349e76a70310e5
I have been using the Nine Line 5 Things Long-sleeved T-Shirt for a while now, and I must say, it's a fantastic piece of clothing. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the message on it reminds me of my values and priorities. The shirt fits perfectly and is very comfortable to wear.
My only complaint is that it tends to shrink a bit after the first wash, but overall, it's a great product. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality, patriotic long-sleeve shirt.

🔗Premium 100% Polyester Thin Blue Line T-Shirt - Superb Fit and Comfort

https://preview.redd.it/i449aauj8rxc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72d497bfc7bc93ccc6db28315b45cac920ef50bf
I recently gave this Performance, Polyester Men's T-Shirt a try, and I must say, it truly lived up to its name. As someone who often finds themselves in the presence of on-duty officers, I appreciated the fact that this shirt was specifically designed to meet their needs. The 100% polyester fabric and moisture-wicking technology ensured that I stayed cool and comfortable throughout the day, and the 'Rugged Look' flag showcasing the Thin Blue Line was a nice touch, representing the police officers and their sacrifices.
One thing that stood out to me was the shirt's ease of cleaning. Being made of polyester, I didn't have to worry about the fabric shrinking or losing its shape, and I could simply throw it in the laundry without having to deal with any pesky lint or fuzz. The visual appeal of the shirt was also a plus, with the slim fit and classic medium size tailored to my body.
However, there were a few drawbacks. I noticed that the shirt had a bit of shrinking issue, as it seemed to be slightly smaller than my usual size. Additionally, some may find the fabric to be a bit too thin and clingy for their liking. Despite these minor downsides, I still appreciate the overall quality and comfort of this Performance, Polyester Men's T-Shirt, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a well-made, comfortable shirt that supports the Thin Blue Line.

The Nine Line Helicopter Drop Line logo on the left chest and the forward-assaulting flag on the right sleeve display the wearer's patriotism and pride for American-made products.
The shirt's fit and feel are second to none, providing a comfortable experience for the wearer. It is designed to stay in place, preventing any need for adjustments throughout the day. Some users have reported slight shrinking after a few washes, so it's recommended to order a size up if you're unsure about the sizing. I recently tried the Nine Line 5 Things T-Shirt and it was a refreshing experience. The fabric felt soft against my skin and the fit was just right. The design, "5 things you don't mess with, " was bold and eye-catching.
On the downside, I noticed that after a few washes, the shirt started to shrink a bit, something I wasn't expecting from a high-quality t-shirt. Additionally, the care instructions stated that it needed to be machine washed and dried, which was a bit disappointing as I prefer to air dry my clothes.
Overall, the Nine Line 5 Things T-Shirt has become a wardrobe staple for me. It's comfortable, stylish, and supports a brand that I truly admire. Despite the shrinkage issue and the need for machine washing, the pros far outweigh the cons.

It's always great to support businesses founded by veterans, and this one was no exception - the quality of the fabric and details on the shirt were top-notch. As a recent user of the Police Thin Blue Line Edition of the American Spartan Shirt, I must say it has become an essential addition to my wardrobe. Wearing this shirt feels like a personal statement of support for the brave law Enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day.
One of the most impressive aspects of this shirt is the quality of the materials. The 100% USA-made fabric ensures durability and a comfortable fit. The attention to detail, particularly in the thin blue line design, makes it even more special.
However, while I appreciate the dedication to using American-made materials, some users might argue that the price point is higher than comparable shirts, which could be a potential downside. Overall, the American Spartan Shirt is a remarkable representation of pride and support for those who serve and protect our communities.

Rothco's Women's Thin Blue Line Longer T-Shirt is a great addition to any wardrobe. Featuring a beautiful, distressed thin blue line flag graphic on the front, this shirt is a stylish and respectful way to support the police and law enforcement community. The soft 60% cotton, 40% polyester blend fabric is designed to help manage moisture, keeping you comfortable and dry even during those warm and humid days. The tagless label design adds to the overall comfort of the shirt and helps to keep pesky and irritating tags at bay.
However, one drawback I found was that the T-shirt runs very small, and I had to order an additional size to accommodate the shrinking that occurred after just one wash. The fabric also seemed to fade a bit after washing, which was disappointing. Despite these few issues, the Rothco Women's Thin Blue Line Longer T-Shirt is still a great option for those looking for a comfortable and stylish way to show their support for law enforcement.

The most highlighting aspect of the "5 Things - Navy Tri-Blend L" shirt is the soft, comfortable fabric that feels so pleasant to the touch. It has proven to be a versatile garment that works perfectly both at home and in casual settings. The shirt fits me just right, not too tight nor too loose, retaining its shape even after multiple washings.
However, there's one aspect I'm not entirely thrilled with. It appears that the shirt seems to be shrinking slightly over time. I've noticed this happening even after washing it at the right temperature, which has been a bit disappointing. Hopefully, this is just a one-off occurrence, and not something consistent.
In conclusion, the Nine Line Apparel's "5 Things - Navy Tri-Blend L" shirt has proven to offer an attractive, comfortable wearable that embodies my values and beliefs. With the exception of the occasional shrinkage issue, I'm quite happy with my purchase and look forward to wearing it on various occasions.
