2024.05.14 22:21 Madfcuk Perceived Exertion - Help Please

Loving the concept of this app but a little confused about Perceived Exertion.
I tend to do 2 types of workouts. HIIT and Weight Lifting.
With HIIT i'm always shattered afterwards, heart and lungs pumping. Quit easy to guess my RPE.
With strength training it's a little harder to rate. I always push myself to within 1-2 sets of failure but I wouldn't say my heart rate gets anywhere near the bpm that I get with HIIT. I can easily hold a conversation.
As Strength training is more steady state, it is unfair to rate strength training as light exertion because my heart rate doesn't ever get high?

2024.05.14 22:21 Euronking-Euronking Anyone tried the LHM1 signature? Does it compare to the prestige range

Im looking at finally getting a really good mid-high end guitar that will be my main instrument. Never had an Ibanez but my brother has a premium and it plays incredibly. Ive been eyeing up the Luke Hoskin signature which is also in the premium line, to me it looks amazing and as green is my favourite colour ive never seen a guitar that aesthetically appeals to me as much as this. Aside from just aesthetics it has fishman pickups and locking tuners so great hardware as well. However ive heard iffy things about the QC on some premium models, and for a similar price i could also get the prestige rg652ahmfx in purple, which also visually looks great, though not as much as the green imo, but as a prestige model will almost certainly feel at least marginally better than the LHM1. Anyone have any thoughts or tried either model?

2024.05.14 22:19 Crypty PSA: Apple Watch max HR does *not really* auto update, and your zones may be way off

I found that my zones were looking too high for my workout effort and fitness level and it was because my Max HR was actually much higher that what was "automatically" set.
The "automatic" setting for your HR zones does not use any measured max HR. Max is simply age-based using the heart rate reserve method (207 - 0.7 * age). It is only "automatic" insofar as it will adjust monthly as you get older. This formula is a good rule of thumb but will be way off for many people.
Resting HR is automatic based on real data afaik.
What do?
  1. If you have hit your max HR during an intense workout and are confident it is accurate, you can find that in the HR data in the Health app and input it in manual mode. If you have any doubt of the accuracy, use a chest strap, get a lab test ($100-200) or...
  2. Perform a ramp test. Typically you will warm up and then run/cycle at increasing difficulty to max your HR before fatigue sets in. Please be careful and read up on how to do this properly.
Good luck.

2024.05.14 22:19 Alongcamepolyam Phlur Sandara dupe? Help!

I need help looking for a dupe/similar scent for Phlurs Sandara, as I’ve recently become aware that they discontinued the line. For context, previous to Sandara I was wearing B Balenciaga. They discontinued that as well and I spent too many hundreds of dollars on a desperate hunt looking for a scent that was similar. Which led me to Sandara. I’ve heard it been compared to le labo 33 (?) but that particular fragrance did have a slight pickle effect on my skin and the price is crazy high. Previous to any of these fragrances I wore Marc Jacob’s Daisy in my early twenties and PAC Suns ‘Nollie’ as a teenager. The scents did well for my skin but a little too floral and sweet as I get older. I’ve scoured fragranticas website and it looks like I heavily lean towards ‘ozonic’ and ‘woody’ scents. But the combination of the two is hard to find. Any suggestions?

2024.05.14 22:18 okarlie Service Desk 1- how much $ should I be making?

Hi! I work as a service desk analyst 1 at my company. I guess I just have a few questions on what my pay could be, what I should expect for the future etc. I want a raise because I am engaged now and weddings aren’t cheap. I started with 20$ an hour, and my one year is coming up here in June, and I have also been studying for Comptia A+ and about to take it.
I want to negotiate a raise, and since my one year is coming up and (hopefully) I will have a certification, I think that is the perfect time to do so. I am thinking about asking for around 1$-1.50$ raise. My boyfriend (also in IT) thinks if I get a certification that I should ask for more than that. I feel like that’s shooting too high since I am just Service Desk 1.
In your guys’ experience, do you think I am asking for too high or too little?
There are some job postings in my area for help desk that would pay 23+ an hour, but the thing is I love my job and really don’t want to leave it.

2024.05.14 22:18 kohitown I've always had amenorrhea ever since I first started getting my period in my middle school years--is this something I should be more concerned about?

The reason I've never been concerned by it and is because according to my mother, all the women on her side of the family have experienced irregular periods and amenorrhea also, so she's always just told me that it's normal for the women in our family and I've never had it checked out. I obviously have been to the doctor, I've gotten pap smears, etc. but no one has ever pointed out anything wrong and it's never bothered me, so I guess I've just never brought it up.
A month or two ago, I landed myself in urgent care because my dumb ass forgot to take my Effexor for a few days and was having awful withdrawal symptoms (didn't know that's what it was at the time--literally thought I was dying or something haha), and at urgent care they made me do an EKG and labs. My labs all came back relatively normal except for my thyroid results, which the provider I saw said met the definition for subclinical hypothyroidism.
I was talking to a coworker about the whole ordeal a week or so ago and said that my supposedly genetic amenorrhea/irregular periods could be due to that and I need to get it checked out ASAP. It kind of scared me a bit because I never thought much of my irregular periods, but is this something I should actually be concerned about?
If it helps, it's quite normal for me to go 6 months to a year without getting my period. It's been almost a year since I've gotten it last. My periods have gotten more irregular since high school--it used to be more common for them to show up every 3-6 months, then sometimes they'd randomly show up every single month for a few months but I'd bleed for like 2 weeks. It's really annoying because I never have any way of predicting when they're going to show up. I've realized that now at 25, it's been almost a whole year where I haven't gotten it. I've spotted once or twice way back in the fall, but no full periods.
General info: 25F, 5'8", around 210 lbs. Not a smoker of tobacco, but I do smoke weed. No other medical issues of concern--I do see a psychiatrist for medication management of my depression and anxiety, and have been diagnosed with ADHD (not on medication for that).

2024.05.14 22:18 EJC28 Dolphins 2024 Draft Analysis Compilation

Round 1, Pick 21 - Chop Robinson, DE, Penn State:
NFL: I see Miami using Robinson as a rotational player early on. An A+ athlete, Robinson is a developmental prospect with first-step quickness and explosiveness but needs more consistency.
CBS Sports: A. I love this pick for Miami. He has the best first step in this draft. With a little coaching, he will become a dominant pass rusher. They can also move him around as a joker on their front. Love it.
ESPN: At some point, the Dolphins may have a lot of money tied up in their outside linebackers room. But until then, this could end up being one of the better pass-rush rotations in the NFL. Robinson recorded fewer than 12 sacks in three collegiate seasons, but his physical traits jump off the tape. He has a powerful first step and will ideally fill the rotational role left by Andrew Van Ginkel's departure. Coach Mike McDaniel loves his pass-rushers and he gets an exciting one in Robinson.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Wants his face mask to be one solid piece like Master Shredder.
Round 2, Pick 55 - Patrick Paul, OT, Houston:
NFL: With the offensive tackle ranks significantly thinned, the Dolphins jumped in on Paul after going defense in Round 1. He wasn't my favorite OT prospect this year, with Paul giving me some Josh Jones vibes. His mass and reach are impressive, and he has 44 college starts at left tackle. But if Paul is Terron Armstead's eventual replacement, getting a year to develop his craft, this pick might work out.
CBS Sports: C-. Strange fit because this is one of the least mobile blockers in the class. Mike McDaniel typically prioritizes athleticism along his offensive line. Absolutely enormous with supreme length. Hand placement is very inconsistent. Gets outside the shoulder pads. Very experienced. Hits on a need.
ESPN: Offensive tackle is not an immediate need with Terron Armstead and Austin Jackson set to reprise their roles at left and right tackle, respectively. But Armstead is expected to retire after this season, and Miami had no immediate successor on its roster -- until Friday night. Paul has enviable size for the position at 6-foot-7, 330 pounds and made 44 starts for Houston at left tackle. He also registered the longest arm length of any tackle at the combine -- a trait which the Dolphins' staff loves. He's not a finished product but the opportunity to develop behind Armstead for at least a year should prove invaluable for a player the Dolphins couldn't hide their excitement about when speaking to the media after the pick.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Did not manage to escape being drafted by the Browns. Oof.
Round 4, Pick 120 - Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee:
NFL: The Dolphins love speed, and Wright has plenty of it. He might be able to develop into Raheem Mostert's eventual replacement and a good complement to De'Von Achane. Wright has a lot of tread left on his tires but must prove he can exercise better ball security to earn that role.
CBS Sports: B-. More speed to Miami’s offense. Weight ran through some gaping holes at Tennessee but has high-end acceleration once he’s in the open field. Elusiveness is good, not amazing. Slashing style as opposed to jump-cut back. Would’ve liked to see another position addressed here, but Mike McDaniel will be happy.
ESPN: The Dolphins love speed, and Wright ran the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds. He also averaged 7.4 yards per carry last season for the Volunteers. He is yet another home-run hitter on an offense that already features De’Von Achane, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Raheem Mostert. Wright also caught 22 passes for 141 yards last season, teasing potential as a pass-catcher at the next level.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Is excited for the re-release of the 1999 classic, THE MUMMY.
Round 5, Pick 158 - Mohamed Kamara, DE, Colorado State:
NFL: The final player in my last top 100 list, Kamara will have to make it in spite of his poor length, but his hell-on-wheels style and ball-hunting ability make him a fun guy to root for. Watch the Colorado game for a sneak peek of how disruptive he can be.
CBS Sports: B. Smaller EDGE who converts speed to power consistently because of low center of gravity. Burst is there as is his dip/bend around the corner. Nice collection of pass-rush moves. Gets overwhelmed a lot because of his lack of size and length. Turns 25 in his rookie season.
ESPN: Kamara was highly productive in college with 29.5 career sacks, including 13 in his final season at Colorado State. He also recorded 45.5 tackles for a loss, proving he can be a disruptive presence in the front seven. The Dolphins needed to rebuild their depth at pass rusher and may have found a steal with Kamara in the fifth round.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Has a large collection of mini farm animals made of cheese in his dorm.
Round 6, Pick 184 - Malik Washington, WR, Virginia:
NFL: He wasn't going to be for every team because of his smaller frame, but in my opinion, Washington should have been drafted prior to this. His speed makes him a perfect fit in Miami, as Washington could be an ideal fourth or fifth receiver and return threat.
CBS Sports: A+. Electric, short not small wideout who was the heartbeat of the Virginia offense after transferring from Northwestern. Wins underneath with explosion and powerful lower half gives him high-end contact balance. Won’t be huge separator on full route tree. Leaper who can find it in the air. Good, not great speed. Niche type but a lot of fun.
ESPN: Washington led the nation in catches last season with 110, turning them into 1,426 yards and nine touchdowns as the focal point of Virginia's offense. He won't quite play the same role in Miami, but he's a dynamic receiver who could earn reps with a strong summer. The Dolphins' third receiver job is up for the taking.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: He’s convinced he could play in the league today with a leather helmet.
Round 6, Pick 198 - Patrick McMorris, S, California:
NFL: McMorris opened eyes a few years ago with a four-INT season at San Diego State and finished with a solid final year at Cal, but his average traits could always hold him back from starting duty.
CBS Sports: C. Checks size and physicality boxes but doesn’t met normal athleticism or tackling-reliability requirements. Multi-positional usage in college will help him learn the playbook in the NFL. Surprising selection.
ESPN: The Dolphins signed Jordan Poyer this offseason after losing Brandon Jones to free agency, but McMorris adds depth to the position and a potential running mate for Jevon Holland in the future. McMorris recorded 90 tackles in two separate seasons at San Diego and Cal, and is a versatile defensive back who can play multiple positions.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Shocked at how much it costs to rent a jet ski nowadays.
Round 7, Pick 241 - Tahj Washington, WR, USC:
NFL: Washington's small frame likely took him off some boards, especially after he ran in the 4.5 range in the 40. But his big-play production on offense and special teams value cannot be overlooked. Washington might be the type who finds a way to hang around in the league.
CBS Sports: B+. Another springy slot option for Tua Tagovailoa. Nifty after the catch and plays with fun lateral bounce although he doesn’t appear to be top-level athlete. Can uncover underneath and has solid hands. Tiny frame and little catch radius.
ESPN: The Dolphins doubled up on wide receivers and took Washington, who recorded at least 600 receiving yards in four straight seasons. He has a similar physical build as Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, and is a solid route runner. His best bet to make the team is likely by establishing himself of special teams.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Thinks sneaker heads are crazy when you can get shoes at Target for like $15.

2024.05.14 22:18 ExtremeAnybody9 Think I'm Bipolar

Hey all, not trying to self-diagnose or anything and I have a psychiatrist appointment for next week. Just wanted to put my thoughts to words and see if others could relate, or even had advice for the psych appointment. I appreciate you all!
First of all, bipolar, depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance addiction, and probably more are in my family, on both my parents' sides.
I have personally only been treated for depression (never officially diagnosed) for the past several years and have been on Wellbutrin which has sort of helped. The reason I suspect BP2 is because of my chronic depression paired with periods of time (usually 1 week to 2 months) where I become obsessive and hyperfixated on something. Usually it's a huge life plan (e.g. changing careers, moving abroad, etc.), winning the lottery, or convincing myself I have canceanother medical issue (in fact, right now I am hyperfocusing on BP2). These hyperfixations cause me to become MAJORLY distracted at my job and in my relationships, to the point that I've gotten in trouble at work and have put myself into major debt. For example, when I thought I had colon cancer, I proceeded to find a GI doctor, get a colonoscopy, not pay the bill, and have to take money out of my 401k to avoid being summoned to court. A different time, I ended up suddenly quitting my job in order to pursue freelancing, spent >$1k on supplies, didn't pay taxes, and couldn't earn enough putting me into more debt. I also adopted a gecko at this time (I really don't know why, but I still have her and love her). At the end of these periods, I am even more depressed and the burnout is incredible. I literally feel braindead.
Anyways, my hesitation with BP2 is that I am REALLY good at hiding things. Only my husband knows about my depression. He does also see my periods of intensity, but I typically come across as well-intentioned and planned. I don't tell him how all-consuming the thoughts are, head spinning and racing, and the burnout at the end. I basically don't exhibit some of the classic signs of hypomania like high sex drive, sleep issues, and grandiosity that it seems are the hallmarks of BP.
So basically I am wondering if others have similar experiences who are diagnosed with BP2 (or something else even). I am looking forward to meeting with a psychiatrist to figure out what's going on. Things have slowly but surely been getting worse and I've seen my extended family experience total psychotic breaks and ruined relationships-- want to avoid at all costs.

Getting this high pitched whistling sound while driving or even when parked. Sometimes starts within 15 minutes of starting the vehicle and at other times starts 30-50 minutes of driving. Once it starts it won’t stop . Even when parked the pitch goes up and down without pressing gas pedal. Took it to dealership several times and when they test drive unable to reproduce it. I hv video recordings of this sound. Not sure how to attach the files though.

2024.05.14 22:18 dollartreerat The Evolution of Corinian Conjugation (Part 1?)

It's been a while since I've posted here (maybe 2 years?) but I'm back and ready to share a little something I've been working on with Corinian, my conlang. After being spread wayyy too thin over hundreds of half-assed conlangs, I thought it'd be nice to scrap everything and work on a conlang that's actually used in my main world's plot.
I usually like making posteriori conlangs, but you might be able to tell there's a sprinkle of Ibero-Romance in here. Either because I like the Ibero-Romance languages or its the sense of impending doom plaguing my mind as my Spanish final nears. Who knows, really.
Background: So, just a bit of background. Corinian is based off the Modern High Corinian variety, which descended from Early High Corinian. Between Early High Corinian and Modern Corinian, it's verb conjugation changed a lot.
Early High Corinian made distinctions between person and put less of an importance on number, conjugating only for the speaker and the direct addressee while lumping everything else into a separate category. So, Early High Corinian made a distinction between 1SG, 2SG, and 3SG/3PL/1PL/2PL, but only for the present. The nonpresent tenses derived from subjunctive, nonfinite inflections, with only a very recent distinction between 2SG and non-2SG in the future tense.
1SG2SG3SG.M/3SG.F/3PL/1PL/2PL Past-in /in/-in /in/-in /in/ Present-a /ɐ/, -Ø (used in reflexives)-us /us/-ra /ɾɐ/ Future-ura /uɾɐ/-urse /uɾse/-ura /uɾɐ/
Above are only the perfective conjugations. Early High Corinian also had a set of imperfectives, as shown below:
1SG2SG3SG.M/3SG.F/3PL/1PL/2PL Past-uzèc /uzɯk/-uzèc /uzɯk/-uzèc /uzɯk/ Present-tèc /tɯk/-tusèc /tusɯk/-tarèc /taɾɯk/ Future-orèc /oɾɯk/-orsèc /oɾsɯk/-orèc /oɾɯk/
The imperfective aspect was only used in the presence of specific adverbs. An example:
Eu pazia aubàgi-atèc. 1SG.NOM repetitively run -1.PRES.IMPFV /eu pazjɐ ɐubadʒɐtɯk/
Compared to the perfective (no adverb):
Eu aubàgi-atèc 1SG.NOM run -1SG.PRES.PFV /eu ɐubadʒɐtɯk/
Ultimately, the imperfective aspect would be lost and merge with the perfective in Modern Corinian. Simple stuff, but it gets worse so for the sake of my sanity I'll only be focusing on the perfective present in Modern Corinian.
Split-Marked-Nominative Alignment
The proto-language had a split-ergative alignment, but was corrupted in Early High Corinian so that certain verbs triggered a marked-nominative alignment while others stuck to the prototypical nominative-accusative alignment.
Generally, everything was prototypically NOM-ACC except for stative and reflexive verbs.
NOM/Unmarked ACC (ABS)ACC/Marked NOMReflexive 1SGeu /eu/qui /ki/-co /ko/ 1PLfo /fo/home /hom/-na /nɐ/ 2SGma /ma/ne /ne/-ma /mɐ/ 3SG.Mquè /kɯ/quèl /kɯl/-clèi /klɯi/ 3SG.Fqui /ki/ 3PLbras /bɾas/feis /feis/-vis /vis/
I'll focus on using a 1SG subject/actor and a 2SG object.
Types of Infinitives
Early High Corinian had several "types" of infinitive suffixes that followed the phonological rules of the root. It also had fusional "reflexive infinitives" which denoted that the verb required a reflexive pronoun.
Phonological root ending Vowels/semivowelsAll other consonants/n/, /s/, /ʃ/, /z/, /ʒ/, /l//m/ Simple infinitives-rc /ɾk/-rèc /ɾɯk/-trèc /tɾɯk/-prèc /pɾɯk/ Reflexive infinitives-rèlc /ɾɯlk/-trèlc /tɾɯlk/-prèlc /pɾɯlk/
Reflexive infinitives have an "open" and "closed" form depending on if the verb has a direct object or not.
With Early High Corinian's alignment, TAM, and infinitive types in mind, I'll throw out a few examples of some typical patterns found in Early High Corinian. Then I'll get into how they evolve.
Verb Type Matrix
Early High Corinian does not have polypersonal agreement so there's not much of a difference between the conjugation of transitive and intransitive verbs. By "not much," I mean there still are minor differences between transitive and intransitive verb conjugation in Modern Corinian. I'll use a 1SG subject/actor, 2SG object, and look at three ambivalent verbs: distrèc "to want (protoypical NOM-ACC)," dirantrèc "to make blue (Marked-NOM)," and checrèlc "to like (Marked-NOM; reflexive)."
Root of distrèc: dis- /dis-/
Root of dirantrèc: diran- /dirɐn-/
Root of checrèlc: chec- /tʃek-/
Finite (Prototypical NOM-ACC; distrèc "to want")
Eu dis -a ne. 1SG.NOM want-1.PRES.PFV 2SG.ACC /eu disɐ ne/ "I want you."
Finite (Marked-NOM dirantrèc; "to make blue")
Qui diran -a ma. 1SG.NOM.MARKED make.blue-1.PRES.PFV 2SG.ABS /ki diranɐ ma/ "I make you turn blue."
Nonfinite (Prototypical NOM-ACC; distrèc "to want")
Eu dis -a dis -trèc ne. 1SG.NOM want-1.PRES.PFV want-INF 2SG.ACC /eu disɐ distɾɯk ne/ "I want to want you."
Nonfinite (Marked-NOM; dirantrèc "to make blue")
Eu dis -a diran -trèc da ma. 1SG.NOM want-1.PRES.PFV make.blue-INF DAT 2SG.ABS /eu disɐ dirantɾɯk da ne/ "I want to make you turn blue."
The "dative" da is only used with the direct object of a nonfinite ergative-absolutive verb. Da is only every used in situations like this, as the true dative rec is used more frequently.
Finite Reflexive (Mixed alignment; checrèlc "to like")
Qui chec-Ø -co ne. 1SG.NOM.MARKED like-PRES.PFV-1SG.REFL 2SG.ACC /ki tʃekko ne/ "I like you."
You might notice here that the marked nominative and the prototypical accusative are both used here. Early High Corinian also has this third type of pronominal alignment.
Nonfinite Reflexive (Mixed alignment; checrèlc "to like")
Eu dis -a chec-rè -co ne. 1SG.NOM want-1.PRES.PFV like-INF-1SG.REFL 2SG.ACC /eu disɐ tʃekɾɯko ne/ "I want to like you."
Part 1/? Done
Hopefully I've explained Early High Corinian's complex conjugation system well, and I'm happy to be back here conlanging again! I'll eventually go over how Early High Corinian evolved into Modern Corinian and the grammatical changes it experienced. See you soon!

2024.05.14 22:18 Richstockz I hate Realtors, anyone else?

Just want to put this out there because I need to vent.. I HATE REALTORS!!! Not all of them but most of them fricken suck. Have no communication skills and act like their above loan officers.. newsflash do these people not get that if their clients loan doesn’t close they are NOT going to get the home and the realtor with a stick up their a** is not going to get paid either??? Let me make something clear, I was top 1% of originators for the biggest lender in the world and been in the industry almost 5 years so I know what I’m doing. However before it was more of a contact center where some leads were provided but our business was not based on stupid realtors. Now I’ve recently switched to retail lending the last few months.. I’ve closed 3 deals already which is good for being new to retail. But every deal I’ve gotten has come from my OWN bond with the buyers. None from realtors yet I’ve reached out to 100s and hardly get a response. Does anyone else share my frustrations with realtors as a loan officer? Any tips??
I’m at my wits end with these stupid high horse claiming realtors who think they are God’s great gift to the earth. They act like they’ve walked the red carpet and been on the big screen. Sheesh!!!! 😡 😡 #PipeDown

2024.05.14 22:18 sciencegrad1 Advice for new lab technician: lab orders and quotes.

I'm a new lab technician in a new lab. I don't have anyone to guide me through this. I have been trying to get quotes from vendors for various items we need from different suppliers. So far one vendor has not responded back for 2 weeks and one gave us the quote, but the prices are to high and she gave alternative products which we can't buy because my boss wants that specific catalog number from that specific supplier. At the end of the day, my boss is not very happy.
Is there any advice I can get to get lower prices, better deals, find better vendors. We are currently dealing with VWR and Fisher.
The items we want are from corning, sigma, gibco, stemcell, etc.
Any advice?

2024.05.14 22:17 Potatoskewer22 24[M4F] UK/Online - Searching for the "one" isn't easy or quick but hey! Patience is a virtue or..... something like that

You know what they say, if at first you don't succeed....... something or another (P.S. pictures of me on my profile)
Searching for the "one" isnt easy, but what can we do aye? First things first, to throw some random bits of info out there about me! (Info dump incoming 😂)
I'm 24 and biracial! Half Irish and half African/northern Indian, and I'm living in the UK!
I'm approximately 6'0"-6'1" in height and id say an average/kept build. I also have somewhat long-ish hair for a guy, going near my shoulders, it's naturally straight! I also have a well kept somewhat shorter and neat beard :) I also have very fair skin. I guess I took physically more from one side of my heritage 😂🤌 I'm also a Muslim lad! So just putting that out there too for the sake of it.
I do enjoy binging on junk food but between my high metabolism and my physically active job working as an electrician (which I'm trying to fully establish myself in) I tend to never put any weight on 🤷
So! What am I looking for? Well it's a long shot. I'd like to imagine something like the female version of myself. My other half. Someone I find attractive, kind, easy going, fun to get along with, can hold a conversation without making it feel like a one sided effort and chore. Etc!
Important note!!!
IF you are not from the UK. Be aware relocating doesn't appear to be an option for me currently 😅 so bear that in mind please. I am open to a potential long distance but again. There's that.
I guess I'm the hopeless romantic type. Fantasising about soulmates, something real, serious, natural and everything great. Is that easy to obtain these days? Bruh. HECK no 😭 but can a guy try? Well, here's to hoping I suppose. Guess only time will tell
Anyone between the ages of 20-27 is welcome! Anyone who wants to actually get to know each other and dreams about something sincere and real! (With some fun stupidity and jokes thrown in there of course, that banter is a must🗿👍)
I like a woman with a little bit of confidence ya know? Probably one of the most attractive personality traits, who can hold a conversation and engage with the other person you know? Nothing more off putting than someone who gives single worded dead replies lol
Here's a bit more about me. My hobbies! my hobbies are various. I'd argue I'm an ambivert. Though my main hobbies lean towards something a little more introverted. You have hiking and the likes as well as going out with friends and driving around at night with them, but then you also have gaming which is a huge hobby of mine!! Well probably the thing I do most consistently 😭
So yeah! There's my shot being let out. I'd say I consider myself to be an honest and open book and would like someone who is open, honest and sincere in the same way!
Oh! And my preferred platform is Snap (:
So. Here's to hoping!

2024.05.14 22:17 nj55245 Job or Health

Just to get somethings out of the way, I am on mobile and apologize for the formatting. I have been a lurker on this sub for about a year now suspecting I might have Endo. Been dealing with it since I was 10 y.o. I couldn't really do anything about it because my medical insurance was always trash (U.S.A). I didn't have insurance for a good year because I worked for a small business. Well the job I was working started cutting my hours so severely that I became eligible for UCare, which in Minnesota is a great insurance! I took the opportunity to start looking for specialists and I got an appointment with Dr. Hegaard who was highly recommended by the Endo Warriors of Minnesota.
A couple ultrasounds later and yeah I have Endo and fibroids who would've thought? During this time I got laid off from previously mentioned job around March this year. Now here's the issue, I got an offer for a really good job that pays well but is only seasonal. They emphasized that I could not take anytime off, which normally would be something I'm not down for but I'm desperate for work. My fiance doesn't want me to take the job because I have a follow up visit with said doctor on July 1st, which I would not be able to make if I accepted this job. He's worried that we wouldn't be able to afford the Endo care for me now that I'm finally on track to get this awful part of my existence taken care of.
He's specifically worried that UCare would kick me off the insurance due to my possible new, much higher income. This doctor is in high demand and I am only able to schedule appointments with him every 3 months or so and I would not be able to see him if I rescheduled till September. I'm signed up to try to get an earlier appointment but those get snapped up faster than I've been able to react. He was also the only doctor in my entire life that listened to me about my pain and the hardships I was going through. I actually cried in his office the first time we talked because I had never felt heard by a medical professional the way I had with him.
I just want to reiterate the job pays really well, much more than I've ever been paid before but it is seasonal. I just want to know if anyone has any advice. Should I pick a job that will actually financially support me (I'm so so broke) or take care of my health?
Any input or advice is appreciated, thank you!

2024.05.14 22:17 pcmastergamez How much better are the pictures of Pixel 8 Pro Vs S24 Ultra?

Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a new phone and I know people talk about how pixel 8 pro has better camera for photos and the s24 ultra has better video quality. I'm curious how much better is the pixel's photo quality? the videos on YouTube use auto mode for their comparisons so I'm not sure if the comparisons are the optimal quality from the phones. I'm curious if someone used s24 ultra in a raw format and edited photos , would it be able to match pixel 8 pro's quality? Keep in mind I don't have pets etc care about shutter speed or capture fast moving subjects. I like Samsung's customisation and flexibility as a phone but the camera is why I'm making this post. I tried iPhone 15 but it's way too limited in the user experience for my taste. Another question I have is regarding skin tones, iPhone makes people have a more saturated look and pixel is more accurate, but with s24 could I edit a raw photo and make the photo match my skin tone and what I see in real life? Or is it baked into the photo so I can't?
My camera use would be to take travel photos and videos to post on Instagram, and to take portraits of friends and have them taken of me to get high quality photos for social media.
Thanks in advance :)

2024.05.14 22:17 Fickle_Concept_5815 UTRGV Global Career Accelerator

As excited a I was to begin my journey with Global Career Accelerator, I had no idea what I was actually getting myself into. I soon found my investment was well worth it. I chose the Digital Marketing track because I thought it would be the best segway into graphic design in a professional setting. I was right about that part, but didn't expect to receive so much more in the process. I'm an Art major with a K-12 teaching certification, so this lent itself to my personal interests and to the future success of my classroom - a passion project if you will.
The tools I learned carry a lot of value, even now, as a pre-field art teacher, I know these skills will lend themselves to my success beyond the classroom. My favorite section was while we worked in Shopify, building our own site. I loved the graphic design element and it was so fun, it didn't feel like class. I also took a lot a way from their section on learning about building international relationships, having the knowledge and skills to be a better communicator and team player are also pretty important in my area of the world. I live in a border town and being a bilingual student who wants to one day soon have their own business, I can say that this part was especially important. It gave me great insight to the types of cultural differences that must be considered and respected in order to create successful relationships in commerce and amongst the professional community. Imagine arriving at your first internship or pro job and you've already got the skills to be a strong team player! You'd be ahead of the game... something I didn't foresee being as impactful as it has been on my life as a student. I'm more confident approaching team work tasks and learned to be more open minded about other's input.
If you have any questions about the Global Career Accelerator program, give me a shout. I would highly recommend this course, I don't imagine there is a career out there that wouldn't benefit from this type of experience.

2024.05.14 22:17 TaintedPills Did You Know You Have Rights ?

OC
In the far future, mankind is surrounded by neighbours that rule over their citizens with an iron first and no regard for their happiness, either in the name of a select few families with noble blood, absolute monarchs or tyrants that claim to serve the interests of their nations while their actions suggest otherwise.
It is a sickening thought and certain individuals would not stand for this. Many species were flabbergasted when they learned so many humans were willing to meddle in the affairs of their neighbours, even more were shocked to learn that these endeavours were not funded by any human government for the sake of destabilising potential rivals.
It was a voluntary effort.
[----------------------------------------]
If Mesch could describe the current microcycle, she’d call it tiring, soul-crushing even, she had no choice but to overwork herself to pay off her debt to the state. After the brother of her father was falsely charged with high treason and shipped off, all of her immediate family-including her-was charged the appropriate price for being the acquaintance of a dissident. The dread residing in her heart only grew stronger as she made her way back to her meager apartment-dwelling, the thought of the massive debt and the cost of living only served to wear her mind down.
“Hello miss, did you know you have rights?” Mesch’s ears perked up at the sudden barrage of noise directed at her, turning to look at the source, she found a strange, seemingly furless biped looking at her. She exhaled from her snout, as if she didn’t have anything better to do…she had recently gotten off her twelfth consecutive overtime shift and the last thing the drowsy nersk needed was a speech about- “You actually do and since I’m here, I’m willing to tell you all about it” The biped was holding plenty of pamphlets in its first appendage and a clipboard in the second. Whatever it wanted to tell her must have been important enough to stand in the same spot for an indefinite amount of time, Mesch decided to humour the strange alien, stopping in her tracks and focusing exclusively on the being in front of her.
"Enlighten me then, what rights do I have?” She came to the conclusion that the alien ignored the sarcasm in her response, seeing that it was thick enough to pierce. She had nothing to her name besides the clothes on her person and what little she had in her apartment-dwelling. The alien handed her a pamphlet, why not? She had come this far, may as well go the whole way. It was written fluently in the language of her people and the information it divulged immediately drew her attention.
-The average Nerski adult works an average of ten human hours for six human days every human week with for the same criminally low wages. This is twenty nerski mini-cycles every twelve nerski micro-cycles every nerski mega-cycle. That is humiliating, grating and unacceptable. Besides being deprived of overtime rates, the average nerski adult is robbed of their sense of safety in their own dwelling, the nerski authorities need no one’s written permission to invade and sack someone’s dwelling for evidence of a crime, perceived or not. The average nerski citizen has no say in who governs them or the measures they may enact at any given moment. The average nersk is not free. But you can be, if you ask the nearest F.F.F advocate for more information. Freedom Forever Foundation-
Something just did not sit well with her about this, was she supposed to work less? Was she supposed to be paid more for the unskilled labour she provided? Was she being taken advantage of? The intrusive thoughts did not let her already weary mind rest, for she had a myriad of questions that urgently needed answering. “I…I want to know more” Mesch did not bother masking the tone of her voice, it sounded equally tired and pleading, desperate for answers to the questions that only kept appearing with each passing second.
The face of the alien brightened by a considerable amount, quickly withdrawing something from the bag on their back. In that span of seconds that felt like a lifetime she remembered the race the odd sentient in front of her belonged to, humans. Not new to FTL technology by any means, but still treated like children in many political-and social-circles thanks to being the newest addition to the Neutral Cooperation Concord. “Glad your rights concern you…this is the information kit, spread the word” A beige folder was handed to her, it was almost as thick as her arm, the scandalous information…the pull it had on her, it was hellish! The promise of relief almost made her knees buckle under the pressure of her need to know.
“One more thing…can I have your signature? I will sooner burn the page than let it fall in the hands of nerski authorities…you have my word” She didn’t need to be pressured to sign and she did so eagerly, carefully hiding the illicit materials within her clothes with shaky hands. ‘Thank-” The human did not get to thank her in time, noticing a single file line of nerski plain clothes enforcers closing in on them, picking up speed when he started backing away. “Unfortunately this is where we part ways…now go!” The last glimpse of the human she caught was him getting swarmed by the enforcers “Liberty fears no tyrant! FREEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!” Mesch’s attempts at leading the human away had failed, tears threatened to spill out of the corners of her eyes the longer she ran yet she had no other choice. If only she could see him again…
Almost an entire megacycle latehuman month later…
Mesch was returning from work, this time she failed to evade the treacherous weather, opting to withstand it and head back home through the camped alleyways leading to that fabled square she had met the human at. She sighed, stopping for a bit and sitting down, squeezing her long ears to get what little water had gathered in there out again. That was when a familiar voice caressed her ears once more. “Hello miss, did you know you have rights?” Her head spun around a little too quicker than she liked, causing some pain to her neck but ultimately ignoring it in favour of finding the source of that blessed voice.
“Of course you do, you’re the first one!” The same human from before sat next to her, shielding her from most of the raindrops thanks to his larger size. “Also I’m now considered a political dissident and there’s an active warrant out for my detainment but that’s not the important thing here! It is this…” The same clipboard came into her view, this time filled with plenty more signatures and from the looks of things there were more pages under the one on top, all filled to the brim with signatures as well. “Whoever has it out for me sure doesn’t like it when people think on their own”
Mesch…was stunned, she had convinced herself the human would never see the light of day again and yet here he was, staring at her with that same smile, the same smile with the same, if not larger, amount of defiant spirit brewing behind it. “How did you?...”
"I am a vessel for liberty, as long as it exists somewhere, I will not be stopped” The human stood up and offered her his hand, she accepted it and after getting pulled up on her feet he showed her another pamphlet, this time it talked about a protest right outside the presidential palace, it was suicidal to say the least…which was why Mesch thought she had finally flown off the handle when she accepted without second-guessing herself.
“So…there are more like me?” Hope filled her heart, it was good, way too good to be true. “Not just more…way, wayyy more! Now come, I will get us there with the Liberty mobile!” She soon found herself strapped inside a vehicle of signature human design, heading straight to the presidential palace, her stomach flipping at the mere sight of the crowd gathered at the meeting point. Chanting slogans, phrases, speeches that at any other point in time she would have rejected as crazy and meant to destabilise the nation her people had built over many lifetimes. They got out and marched with the rest of the assembled nersk until they hit a chokepoint, lines upon lines of enforcers ready to meet them halfway , they were not scared or intimidated, they were ready.
Before long, either due to their own initiative or an order from a higher up, the enforcers were set loose on the crowd. Bashing, bruisng and shooting with electrically-charged pellets, trying their damnest to scare the crowd away. Mesch was scared but she would not flee, for the life she lived before this grand event was nothing more than celebrated slavery. Enforcers descended on her and the human, she was badly beaten but before any serious harm could befall her the human shielded her and proceeded to drive back the enforcers hellbent on killing her without even fighting back , the only weapon in his name was his own body and he did not use it as a weapon, only a a shield.
A few moments before she fainted from the overwhelming pain, she could hear the battle cry she had heard only once before and a sense of comfort, a painful but satisfying end to her life of misery.
This would have been the case if she hadn’t woken an indeterminate amount of time later in a hospital, with none other than the same human sitting besides her, watching her. “Slept well? You deserve it after all these bruises” It was painful to move and for the second time, she ignored it. Twisting just enough to be able to hug the human. “Thank you for everything” The human hugged her back, comforting her with the warmth only his words had provided so far. “You shouldn’t thank me, I was doing my moral duty…there is someone else you should be embracing right now” Behind the human stood another nersk, it was uncle Vinow, the same uncle that had gotten dragged off by the secret police. Tears of happiness overwhelmed her and she soon hugged both of them.
“Some sympathetic soul leaked the coordinates to several blacksites holding political prisoners and from the looks of things this isn’t the last act of defiance we’re going to be hearing about, while you were unconscious I was ferrying as many prisoners back and forth to the capital….Congratulations Mersch, your people have embraced freedom. Enjoy it, your blood, sweat and tears have finally paid off”

2024.05.14 22:17 Region-Formal GME and the Regulation SHO Threshold List: What happened in Jan 2021 vs What is happening now?

These last few days have seen the most extreme price run since, arguably, the "Sneeze" of January 2021. There is a major difference, though, which is regarding the Regulation SHO Threshold List. To remind you, a stock is included in this list if meeting the below critieria:
https://www.sec.gov/investopubs/regsho.htm
"Threshold securities are equity securities that have an aggregate fail to deliver position *for five consecutive settlement days** at a registered clearing agency (e.g., National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC)); totaling 10,000 shares or more; and equal to at least 0.5% of the issuer's total shares outstanding."*
So what happens if a stock makes it onto the Regulation SHO Threshold List?
"If a participant has a failure to deliver that the participant can demonstrate on its books and records resulted from a long sale, or that is attributable to bona fide market making activities, the participant must *close out** the failure to deliver by no later than the beginning of regular trading hours on the third consecutive settlement day following the settlement date."*
What if they are unable to do so, and the FTDs continue for some time without resolution?
"if, for whatever reason, a participant of a registered clearing agency has a fail to deliver position at a registered clearing agency in a threshold security for *13 consecutive settlement days*, the requirement to close-out such position under Rule 203(b)(3) remains in effect."
I still don't think anyone can precisely say what really happened behind the scenes in late 2020 and early 2021. But we do know certain facts:
▪︎ GME was added to the Regulation SHO Threshold List on 8th December 2020
▪︎ It continued to be on that list throughout the rest of December and early January 2021
▪︎ The share price remained relatively stable for more than 20 trading days during this period
▪︎ Only then on 13th January 2021 did the share price blow up to start the "Sneeze"
▪︎ Meaning that although the stock being placed on the list was undoubtedly causing some kind of intense pressure on failing-to-deliver institutions...it did not impact the share price for many weeks
So what is this key difference between those mechanics 3.5 years ago, compared to what may be happening with GME now? In my opinion, it is the continued absence (at least up until yesterday) from the Regulation SHO Threshold List:
https://www.nyse.com/regulation/threshold-securities
Since Monday 6th May, hundreds of millions (now billions?) of shares have been traded of this stock. But even before that, the price did nearly double from Tuesday 23rd April through to last Friday 10th May. This kind of volatility indicates that there has been a battle raging, most likely with nefarious parties continuing to use illicit methods to try and keep the price from exploding more than it already has. With almost all the methods they can employ, we know there is one result is: more FTDs.
My guess is that at some point - perhaps even this evening - GME gets added to the Regulation SHO Threshold List. Despite all the hoodwinking and crime they use to avoid these things, it would be surprising to me if the stock stays off the list indefinitely. Certainly the volume and pattern of trading over these last two weeks, and especially these last two days, would indicate there is a high probability of that happening.
But we know from 2020-21 that even after being added to the list, it still takes some time for that inclusion to have an impact on the share price. That is, until sufficient pressure through market and legal mechanics has built up, such that it "forces" some of these institutions to try and close out these FTDs. (We know that, sadly, nothing really can "force" them...but at least compelling some of them to do so, let us say...)
However this price run that started originally on Tuesday 23rd April has been occurring with the absence of GME from the Regulation SHO Threshold List. So quite possibly the very thing that triggered the massive price run-up in January 2021, has not even happened yet this time around. Hence if we are already on a 500% price run before possibly being added to the list...and that then this triggers additional intense pressure on the Hedge Funds and Market Makers...just imagine what could happens next???
TLDR: GME's recent price surge is unlike the January 2021 "Sneeze" in one key aspect: the Regulation SHO Threshold List. Back then, GME was on the list for weeks before probably causing the eventual price explosion. This time around, GME has not been placed on the list (yet), despite similarly very high trading volumes and likely additional FTDs. So could we then see an even bigger surge if GME gets added to the list? Only time will tell, but all this may just be an aperitif before we even get to the appetiser!
