I was thinking about how the show might Integrate Ellie's journal into season 2 or beyond. Obviously with a passive medium like tv it will be quite difficult to add something like a journal in an impactful way beyond being just an easter egg for gamers. I would bet they will find other ways to explore Ellie's psyche during her journey, but it would be nice if this introspective aspect of her character is shown.
Anyways here's my pitch (this one's free Craig 😉) spoilers for Part 2,
Throughout the season we see brief moments of Ellie writing during downtime to end/begin the day. We don't see what she's writing just that she does it consistently on her journey and is always keeping the pages in her backpack.
The payoff would come during the final fight with Abby on the beach in Santa Barbara. During the struggle the backpack is spilled into the water and all the pages start floating into the ocean.
It is then revealed that all the pages she'd been writing had been letters to Joel. And it's a lot; way more pages than a 'survivor' should be carrying around every day. From banal retelling of her day to exploring her feelings surrounding Joel and their last together, it is clear these posthumous letters to Joel had been serving as a tool to process her grief.
Ellie sees the letters in the water next to her as she is holding Abby underwater. Something inside Ellie finally breaks and she let's go of Abby. As Abby and Lev take off in the boat Ellie is left weeping in the water as the letters and blood drift into the sea.
This idea was sort of inspired by an anime called 'A Place Further Than The Universe' which I highly recommend. Without spoiling there is an incredibly heartbreaking and cathartic scene towards the end of the series that is thematically similar to Ellie's situation.

I figured it's time to change up my posts XD So, right off the bat, here's me(if imgur doesnt work, lmk!!) I'd prefer if we exchange pictures first, but whenever you feel like, that's cool too :⁾ I just, it'd help if you have a wonderful personality and the smile and eyes you have, I keep falling for. Strongly encourage if you live close to me, treasure coast, i can travel as well if you're farther, we need to hang out and do art dates and maybe picnics or arcade or museums or just appreciate each other's company at our homes <333. If you're outside florida though, i dont mind!! We can make long distance work, and i cant wait to travel anyway :DD I'd like to be that wholesome/supportive silly significant other for you. What are the changes: - Immersive and very challenging survival gameplay. - No more bullet sponges and rambo playstyle! - Enemies are dangerous and you are trying to survive at all costs.
Immersive gameplay mod is the base of this modlist. Adds thousands of changes mostly combat related. Enemies are smarter, ammo type affects damage, bigger enemies are more scary, perks are reordered and improved, crafting, cooking and building is changed. You don't get health per level up, crafting turrets cost hundreds of rare ammo, legendary items are hard to get and dont drop from humans and ghouls, special stats affect things like sprint, reload speed or health. Enemies are easier to cripple, headshots do tons of damage and usually are deadly. Opening all locks is available from character level1, but one of the perks makes it easier to do. You can also dismember enemies. Synths, robots and supermutants are very dangerous. Settlement raids are very challenging. Loot is hard to find. There is ammo crafting and many, many other things. • Assaultrons drop incorect amount of aluminium.
• Incompatible with tons of other mods.
• Ocdecorator replaces creation club menu (items from there still available in other building categories).

Hello all,
I have my own story of being stellar at school, then abuse and rampant discrimination. I am 32, and have started my "big girl" job in devops/sre domain in 2017 with a BSc in MechE and couple of extra CS courses under my belt. I specifically left software engineering job for this domain, as my background in MechE fit this role and I really liked it.
Since then I relocated twice internationally and only have worked at Fortune 200 companies and well known startups. My resume glows with brand names, but like many of you I feel like I made a mistake and I do not fit into this industry. And after 7 years I think this is a good thing actually. I am proud of myself that I didn't become a nuclear waste, no thank you. If I wanted to work in military, police, ER, psychiatric ward or in any other field that being traumatised is part of the job, I would have gone in that direction.
Even though I have been recognised as a force wherever I went, and had received good/great feedback, I have never been promoted and I didn't leave my jobs because I wanted "more" or was offered something better, but because there was an incident and my sanity could not take it any longer.
## Story time, you can skip this.
I left my first job because a male coworker attacked me in daylight, in the middle of the full office and I ran for my life the last minute to avoid getting injured. He didn't even get a verbal warning. I was told off by my manager for reporting this incessantly. Right at this point pandemic started. Long story short, I worked there another year from home, which kind of helped until it didn't so I had to involve lawyers, and I quit that job on the spot one random monday morning. Never looked back. I reached out to my previous managers from internships and a small startup I worked for a short stint for references, and openly shared the situation I am in during interviews. So I decided to burn the bridges and never asked for a reference from that job, that is the first solid 2,5 years of my career. I left with panic disorder and severe social anxiety.
In my second job, I decided to relocate internationally in middle of the pandemic. I refused a job at another large corporation and chose a smallish company because I was genuinely convinced that I had to take a step back to chill. This job was a catastrophe at the beginning. Within 8 months I reached back to the other company and asked if the opening was still available. Luck be it, there was an additional opening so I got processed. This didn't went smoothly as HR messed up my offer and "corrected" it after signing it, via offering a much lower package than what I was already earning, so I had refused the same job the second time. At this point I had a new manager and a new product manager both ex FAANG, and thank the lords both of these men were incredible to work with. They restored my trust in people. I have learnt so much from them including that I am a good candidate for staff level positions at that point. It was an eye opening experience. Still, I didn't get promoted here either. My manager used the fact that I wanted the promotion as a leverage to return me back to the office. I would have, however, my husband couldn't find a new job where we lived and wanted out. Around this time, the other company and the hiring manager reached out again and apologised for what has happened during the second round, offered me a much larger package so I decided to accept that job in third attempt. I left with good wishes, stellar reference letters and couple of friends for the rest of my life.
## Current situation, you can skip this.
In my current, and third job, I was determined to do the bare minimum and prioritise my health. I gave up hope on growth, promotions or raises and simply wanted to rest and collect paycheques. I have kept my mouth shut during my first year and simply observed. This team was much older than me by age, so I was hopeful that people might be more mature.
To my horror I learnt that one of them had disciplinary records for verbally assaulting his previous coworkers, because he thought they were not working hard enough. He mentions them proudly for the jokes during team events.
The architect of the team, is an ex-employee turned contractor, and is notoriously known for his "personality". He is loud and rude, a text book misogynist; "limit the information flow, pick favourites, rotate them to make sure everybody feels insecure" type of a leader with limited technical acumen and ability. He also derives too much personal pleasure from being in leadership. In fact I noticed he reports "good work" for my performance reviews to sideline my manager, and wants to "manage me internally". Scrum master is also an ex-employee now employed via architect's company, and is a family friend of his. Add couple of more juniors hired via this contractor, he essentially built himself a parallel organisation.
Lastly, the product owner is very insecure and also has a seriously thick accent to the point that nobody really understands what on earth he is saying. He also doesn't write things down properly, leaving a lot of room for architect to operate however he likes.
In my first year, I have reported some of my observations to my manager. I discovered he agrees with me on all points. I also made sure I kept my relationships good but distant with everybody working for this contractor. So far so good.
During my first year, architect tried to paint me as incompetent, so I played along, or "followed his lead" to be precise. I stepped back when needed, just clocked my 8hours. Perfect, just as I wanted. I took whatever he says "literal" and resisted the urge to "please" him and "read minds", so I ended up stepping back a lot. He ended up with the dumb women he thought I was and became overloaded with work to do, things to figure out.
Then he unleashed the scrum master onto me. She kept advocating for him, that he is doing too much already; being a business owner, an architect and dealing with the incompetent PO was too much etc. So during my 1-1s with her I asked her what was the expectations from me, am I supposed to feel sorry for him or what is this plea for exactly; he doesn't produce any tickets to delegate his work nor asks me directly on what he needs from me. She remained silent and didn't push further.
At this point I thought I was handling this very well. Then a very sudden re-org happened. Everybody was blindsided. I think my manager intended for this as you will understand later.
This left my team without budget and a project. I didn't mind getting re-assigned since I am a fixed employee, but this meant architect will close the shop as a contractor, so he got really aggressive and somehow scratched the last coins to form a budget and made up a new product. Starting early this year, I found myself in a "scale up" that is looking for market fit. Architect formed an inner circle to operate fast. This left me hanging and confused because no one, including my manager, could inform me what was I supposed to do, what the product is, or whether my position is still a fit or not. Here is the reality after few months, there was no product as architect was swinging it until he landed on something. The insecure product owner completely vanished from the team, taking a long vacation during this key time. I noticed this could be a nice opportunity for me to transition to a product owner role. I talked with my manager and arranged some trainings. I reached out to the scrum master and asked her assistance to clean up backlog. She got very alarmed and told me that I needed to finish that by yesterday, everything is urgent and needs to be done asap, that I am losing time etc. I was surprised and told her I am looking forward to her cooperation because I still need some trainings and I cannot get things done that quickly but compared to the non-existing PO, I am still better than nothing.
SM didn't help me. After I started to clean up backlog, the "disciplinary record colleague" decided to reach out to me and told me to stop changing things in the backlog because they were agreed on now and cannot be changed. I said okay and stepped back. A week later, architect declared he is also going to become a PO now.
I was now clearly aware what is happening, how much effect I have on him. I still made sure I contributed as much as possible from my own domain (devops/sre) via setting development and test environments as soon as possible. Architect didn't push back on this early on, but later shut it down by force and when I reached out to him to discuss what is happening, whether the current project is still a good fit for me, are my skills needed for this project etc., and he declared that I have a problem with my expectations and need to read a book. I became so angry I started crying but didn't say anything to him and right after the meeting I took some time off.
When I returned back my manager called, and informed me that architect reported me saying "she doesn't want to work with us, she lost control". To note, during our 1.5 years together, architect and I have never had 1-1 meetings or messages. He only interacts with me during team meetings, or via proxies delivering his messages. This was our one and only 1-1.
I was shocked, my manager was shocked but he recommended de-escalation so I followed suit. However, I was alarmed. I started searching more actively for an internal position and improve my network but not only nothing came up but suddenly, towards end of Q1 architect declared that we are to build the platform in addition to the product so I was needed now. Every single idea I brought to team got ignored, only to be accepted when my senior colleague (my bestie) repeated it. I also noticed some questions I asked and ideas I brought were getting "stolen" to be used in higher up meetings instead of me getting involved. Things got to a point, where architect was bullying everybody that defended me in team meetings, pestering everybody to "help me" to get the ticket done faster (not possible due to blockers, not due to me being slow) and in one of the meetings he exploded with anger and yelled at me for something he did.
I was aware he was problematic, what I wasn't aware how volatile he was and how far he could loose it. Keeping my cool and playing it political no longer made sense. His last explosive anger episode did trigger me and made me revisit the incident at my first job. I wasn't sure how to proceed, whether to take time off or do what but I decided stay on track and keep searching for an opportunity without further incidents.
At this point my manager informed me that he awarded me a stock bonus to show how much company wanted me to stay and that he wants me to join in one of the newly found teams (remember the re-org?) as an architect. Since I already perform at the expected level, if I can keep it another year in the actually position it is going to be a automatic promotion. I still had some questions yet I was really humbled and happy. I made it not just working hard but also playing politically.
## The last event
Last week I worked on a ticket that didn't get finished. I was exhausted by the time friday arrived, and I couldn't power through so I left it unfinished for monday. Keep in mind that except that last minute time off that I needed for cooling my head down and bounce back, I couldn't plan a proper vacation due to this mess of a project and didn't really have a proper rest. I have been working longer and longer hours ever since, even my manager expressed his disapproval to how much pressure we were put under by the architect and encouraged me to stick to my hours only. Still yet, once stress visits my home, it tends to stay overnight.
Anyway, last week I spent a lot of time explaining to my bestie what I am doing and why, and he couldn't wrap his mind around one issue. Since I always have an "assigned partner" that policies my work or "helps me" I spend a lot of time managing people 1-1.
On monday I showed up to realize my bestie worked during the weekend to develop a hacky alternative solution to my design that only supports a single use case, and now he insists he solved the issue, can I implement it in my ticket too. I explained to him he solved something else, the issue is still open, so and so, and he kept insisting no, he tested it (with his alternative setup not my work) and it all should work now. I couldn't keep my cool anymore so I told him off, I told him "Please drag the jira ticket to done if you are sure". I was drenched in sweat and was shaking. The sequence of events and the pressure put on me triggered something in me. I took the week off immediately and called my husband crying. I informed him that I reached my limit, I cannot work at jobs that effect my health this way, I might resign today if necessary.
I knew at this moment a threshold has been crossed. I needed to leave immediately. So, I drafted a very long email detailing all these and asking for a re-assignment effective immediately. I also drafted and send an apology email to my bestie explaining why I need time off.
## Path forward
My manager recognised everything I reported and told me he knows because he worked with the architect for 3 years, and clearly situation has worsened rather than improved. He noted that the architect role he wanted me in was in partnership with my current architect, since he was also doing that work in addition to all the other things. I informed my manager I want to stay away from this man, and the architect role he wanted me in is no longer an option.
He planned a meeting for tomorrow to introduce me to two positions that I am interested in.
One for an IC position and one for a PO position. I want to shoot for the PO position since that one brings in a lot of visibility within the organisation as it is for an internal consultancy group not a singular product team. So I will have to manage numerous stakeholders (my SRE background prepared me well for this) and feed ideas into several teams. I am looking forward to develop better social skills. I am no longer interested in pair programming or any other paired work being utilised to micromanage me. I want a solo role. I want to hide in plain sight.
However I am pointed out that the IC role is in a really nice team with great environment and nice pace so I should also talk to them given my background fits their domain (K8s) perfectly. This is true and couple of months ago I would have run into their arms, but I want to keep my path to promotion diversified and not get pigeonholed into an IC role ever again.
So, am I making a big mistake?

I've been checking through my school list and Harvard's requirement for a letter from every single research experience you've ever had is unbelievable:
"We should receive letters from all research supervisors for applicants to the MD-PhD program as well as applicants to the MD program. Applicants may exceed the six (6)-letter maximum if the additional letters are from research supervisors."
Harvard also says this: "While we strongly recommend meeting the criteria listed above, these are not strict requirements. Ultimately, the letters applicants choose to include are up to their own discretion. Applicants should choose the letters of evaluation they believe will best support their application."
There's no way I'm asking for like five more letters of rec and tracking down every professor, half of whom have since retired...Does anyone know of any other schools that have crazy LOR requirements like this I should watch out for? Is it even worth it to apply without having the majority of research letters or would it be an instant rejection?

My dog is getting ruined by the spring/summer and idk what to do. It seems like walks or the outside world enhance it but we can’t just lock her in. Last year we took her to the vet first and they gave us a $500 tab for skin and blood work and told us she’s over weight. We so we got her weight down rn she’s 5lbs from her goal weight and we eventually had to bite the bullet on the test to find help for her. They told us we found nothing her blood labs are good so we’re going to recommend aqophel. It’s good for dogs like her especially it’s just hard to get off so she may be taking this for the rest of her life.
I told him I’d like to do my research on it first before we okay that. He said okay but in the meantime a really good grooming with cool water and extra attention to the feet and butt area will help her a lot
We usually bathe her at home I use to be a bather so I never saw it necessary to pay for it but I decided to take her cause they have hose attachments that get to the skin and air dryers I thought may be better than letter her air dry.
We took her to the groomers and I explained everything. The lady that helped us mentioned a genuine oatmeal soap that’s super gentle on the skin non fragrant and has a little moisture to it. I told her not to use any sprays and if she could rinse her paws really well like make sure there’s no residue in between her toes. The groomer expressed she had the same breed and he 100% understands and she will do the service we paid and tipped well and when he got home the scratching starts but even more aggressively. I thought she was dry so I put coconut oil on her back end under her arms but it was worse and bad.
After like a day or two it was so bad I called the groomer to ask what soap was used so I could look into it and she gave me a brand of soap that doesn’t exists? I got a vibe she may have been lying cause she said it awkwardly and hung up fast.
I didn’t complain or give her heat cause I felt it’s my fault I should’ve done my research or asked to see the soap first but I blindly trusted a stranger with my dog so..my partner said he went there to ask about the soap or ask for advice that she’s itchy even more after that bath and said when he got there they made eye contact and she went to the back and had another lady behind the counter help him…which is super sus imo but again I didn’t want to be a ****. I washed her hoping to reset her skin and it’s a bit better but she’s still itchy out of her mind.
So far we’ve ruled out fleas (she takes bravecto), food (it’s the same formula she eats year round),
Any groomers/ bathers know what I can do to help her skin? Any advice? Any ingredients in soap that could cause this? Any soaps that worked for your dogs? Also any idea of what she may have used on my dog? Atp I need any advice. My mom told me to try a tiny bit of plain organic cornstarch. Like I’m resorting to putting cornstarch on my dog.

Access Methods

Regardless of the default behavior of a new switch, all switches should be configured and secured.

Console This is a physical management port that provides out-of-band access to a Cisco device. Out-of-band access refers to access via a dedicated management channel that is used for device maintenance purposes only. The advantage of using a console port is that the device is accessible even if no networking services are configured, such as performing the initial configuration. A computer running terminal emulation software and a special console cable to connect to the device are required for a console connection.
Secure Shell (SSH) SSH is an in-band and recommended method for remotely establishing a secure CLI connection, through a virtual interface, over a network. Unlike a console connection, SSH connections require active networking services on the device, including an active interface configured with an address. Most versions of Cisco IOS include an SSH server and an SSH client that can be used to establish SSH sessions with other devices.
Telnet Telnet is an insecure, in-band method of remotely establishing a CLI session, through a virtual interface, over a network. Unlike SSH, Telnet does not provide a secure, encrypted connection and should only be used in a lab environment. User authentication, passwords, and commands are sent over the network in plaintext. The best practice is to use SSH instead of Telnet. Cisco IOS includes both a Telnet server and Telnet client. Note: Some devices, such as routers, may also support a legacy auxiliary port that was used to establish a CLI session remotely over a telephone connection using a modem. Similar to a console connection, the AUX port is out-of-band and does not require networking services to be configured or available.
2.1.5 Terminal Emulation Programs There are several terminal emulation programs you can use to connect to a networking device either by a serial connection over a console port, or by an SSH/Telnet connection. These programs allow you to enhance your productivity by adjusting window sizes, changing font sizes, and changing color schemes.
IOS Navigation
2.2.1 Primary Command Modes
In the previous topic, you learned that all network devices require an OS and that they can be configured using the CLI or a GUI. Using the CLI may provide the network administrator with more precise control and flexibility than using the GUI. This topic discusses using CLI to navigate the Cisco IOS.
As a security feature, the Cisco IOS software separates management access into the following two command modes:
User EXEC Mode - This mode has limited capabilities but is useful for basic operations. It allows only a limited number of basic monitoring commands but does not allow the execution of any commands that might change the configuration of the device. The user EXEC mode is identified by the CLI prompt that ends with the > symbol.
Privileged EXEC Mode - To execute configuration commands, a network administrator must access privileged EXEC mode. Higher configuration modes, like global configuration mode, can only be reached from privileged EXEC mode. The privileged EXEC mode can be identified by the prompt ending with the # symbol. The table summarizes the two modes and displays the default CLI prompts of a Cisco switch and router.

2.2.2 Configuration Mode and Subconfiguration Modes To configure the device, the user must enter global configuration mode, which is commonly called global config mode.
From global config mode, CLI configuration changes are made that affect the operation of the device as a whole. Global configuration mode is identified by a prompt that ends with (config)# after the device name, such as Switch(config)#.
Global configuration mode is accessed before other specific configuration modes. From global config mode, the user can enter different subconfiguration modes. Each of these modes allows the configuration of a particular part or function of the IOS device. Two common subconfiguration modes include:
Line Configuration Mode - Used to configure console, SSH, Telnet, or AUX access. Interface Configuration Mode - Used to configure a switch port or router network interface. When the CLI is used, the mode is identified by the command-line prompt that is unique to that mode. By default, every prompt begins with the device name. Following the name, the remainder of the prompt indicates the mode. For example, the default prompt for line configuration mode is Switch(config-line)# and the default prompt for interface configuration mode is Switch(config-if)#.
Navigate Between IOS Modes Various commands are used to move in and out of command prompts. To move from user EXEC mode to privileged EXEC mode, use the enable command. Use the disable privileged EXEC mode command to return to user EXEC mode.
Note: Privileged EXEC mode is sometimes called enable mode.
To move in and out of global configuration mode, use the configure terminal privileged EXEC mode command. To return to the privileged EXEC mode, enter the exit global config mode command.
There are many different subconfiguration modes. For example, to enter line subconfiguration mode, you use the line command followed by the management line type and number you wish to access. Use the exit command to exit a subconfiguration mode and return to global configuration mode.
Switch(config)# line console 0 Switch(config-line)# exit Switch(config)# To move from any subconfiguration mode of the global configuration mode to the mode one step above it in the hierarchy of modes, enter the exit command.

Basic IOS Command Structure This topic covers the basic structure of commands for the Cisco IOS. A network administrator must know the basic IOS command structure to be able to use the CLI for device configuration.
A Cisco IOS device supports many commands. Each IOS command has a specific format, or syntax, and can only be executed in the appropriate mode. The general syntax for a command, shown in the figure, is the command followed by any appropriate keywords and arguments.
Keyword - This is a specific parameter defined in the operating system (in the figure, ip protocols). Argument - This is not predefined; it is a value or variable defined by the user (in the figure, 192.168.10.5). After entering each complete command, including any keywords and arguments, press the Enter key to submit the command to the command interpreter.
Hot Keys and Shortcuts The IOS CLI provides hot keys and shortcuts that make configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting easier.
Commands and keywords can be shortened to the minimum number of characters that identify a unique selection. For example, the configure command can be shortened to conf because configure is the only command that begins with conf. An even shorter version, con, will not work because more than one command begins with con. Keywords can also be shortened.
The table lists keystrokes to enhance command line editing.

The zero is used to represent the first (and in most cases the only) console interface. Next, specify the user EXEC mode password using the password password command. Finally, enable user EXEC access using the login command.

To have administrator access to all IOS commands including configuring a device, you must gain privileged EXEC mode access. It is the most important access method because it provides complete access to the device.
To secure privileged EXEC access, use the enable secret password global config command, as shown in the example.

Save Configurations
2.5.1 Configuration Files You now know how to perform basic configuration on a switch, including passwords and banner messages. This topic will show you how to save your configurations.
There are two system files that store the device configuration:
startup-config - This is the saved configuration file that is stored in NVRAM. It contains all the commands that will be used by the device upon startup or reboot. Flash does not lose its contents when the device is powered off. running-config - This is stored in Random Access Memory (RAM). It reflects the current configuration. Modifying a running configuration affects the operation of a Cisco device immediately. RAM is volatile memory. It loses all of its content when the device is powered off or restarted. The show running-config privileged EXEC mode command is used to view the running config. As shown in the example, the command will list the complete configuration currently stored in RAM.

If power to the device is lost, or if the device is restarted, all configuration changes will be lost unless they have been saved. To save changes made to the running configuration to the startup configuration file, use the copy running-config startup-config privileged EXEC mode command.
2.5.2 Alter the Running Configuration If changes made to the running config do not have the desired effect and the running-config has not yet been saved, you can restore the device to its previous configuration. Remove the changed commands individually, or reload the device using the reload privileged EXEC mode command to restore the startup-config.
The downside to using the reload command to remove an unsaved running config is the brief amount of time the device will be offline, causing network downtime.
When a reload is initiated, the IOS will detect that the running config has changes that were not saved to the startup configuration. A prompt will appear to ask whether to save the changes. To discard the changes, enter n or no.
Alternatively, if undesired changes were saved to the startup config, it may be necessary to clear all the configurations. This requires erasing the startup config and restarting the device. The startup config is removed by using the erase startup-config privileged EXEC mode command. After the command is issued, the switch will prompt you for confirmation. Press Enter to accept.
After removing the startup config from NVRAM, reload the device to remove the current running config file from RAM. On reload, a switch will load the default startup config that originally shipped with the device.

OK, so long story short I did seven years active duty as an infantryman. Got out and immediately went into the reserves total I just hit 17 years and I’m currently still in the reserves. I’ve never really went to go and see a doctor because once I got out of active, it was very hard for me to find a doctor and when I did find a doctor, I went to them once and two months later they sent me a letter in the mail saying that they were retiring and that they could not see me anymore. I finally started opening up to another master sergeant in my unit and he recommended that I go and file for disability, I’m supposed to start having my first “claim” appointments here next week and I feel like I’ve went about things in the wrong way not really seeing any doctors prior to this. Hello everyone,
I am (hopefully) leaving my current school at the end of this year, and moving on to a new district. This year will mark the end of my 6th year of teaching, and I have spent my entire career working in the same school.
For context, I work in public school in the US.
I work in special education, in a mostly self-contained classroom for students who need the highest levels of support offered in my district. There is one other classroom in this program (I will call it Life Skills- that is not the name, but my district has a unique and distinct name for the program).
Although the Life Skills program is a special education class, due to our students complex health, social/emotional, and behavioral needs, we tend to be our own little sub-department, if you will. Because of this, the people who I work closely with and who know my work are the other teacher, my para educators/instructional aides depending on your location, and specialists (speech therapists, OT/PT), and administration. I do collaborate with the PE department to make sure we have accessible activities set up for the students, but they haven’t actually seen me teach.
I’ve gotten letters of recommendation from the other Life Skills teacher, one of my paras, an SLP who just retired last year but who I worked with for my entire career, and a 1:1 nurse who supported an incredibly medically fragile student in my classroom for the last 3 years. I will also be getting one from my evaluating administrator at some point this week.
So, my question is, can you list the same people who wrote you letters of recommendation as references? I don’t mean on my resume, where I put references available upon request most of our school districts have systems where you create a profile, fill everything out, upload docs, etc., and many have a references section. If not, I do have a few people I could ask- I have positive professional relationships with my colleagues- but they don’t necessarily know exactly what I do and how well I do it.
So, to sum up an essay that could have been a 2-3 line question: is it ok (or perhaps normal/typical) to list the people who’ve written you letters of recommendation as references as well?

I’m a 21 year old Jewish man and after going to Hebrew school for 7 years twice a week when I was younger I really want to know how to understand Hebrew.
It may sound really silly, but my Hebrew school only taught me how to read and pronounce Hebrew letters/words for me to be able to read the prayers and the Torah.
I really want to learn how to properly read, write, and speak in Hebrew, but I feel completely lost.
I have been trying with Duolingo, but it is only really useful for real learning the Hebrew alphabet since the lessons don’t ever use vowels.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend any other apps (free and paid as long as they’re good), programs, or books that I could use to finally learn Hebrew.

Hello! I have a question for PIs experienced in hosting postdocs. What could a postdoc do that would make it easier for a PI to write a recommendation letter for their next position? In this case, it is for a postdoc fellowship application.
Would sharing application materials like my research proposal be helpful? Or perhaps providing a concise list of my key qualities to focus on? Or is it better to not provide anything at all? Some context: I'm currently a postdoc (R1, STEM) nearing the end of my contract. I've been collaborating on a postdoctoral fellowship application with a prospective PI who will host me if successful. And of course, the application asks for recommendation letters. While my current PI is supportive of my career, they're also very busy (large lab, department responsibilities, etc.). Not too long ago, they turned in a recommendation letter late for a tenured track position I was applying for, and I want to avoid having that happen again. I've noticed that writing recommendation letters can be challenging for PIs due to their busy schedules. For example, my PhD advisor often asks me to draft my own letters, even for tenure-track positions. Therefore, I'm reaching out for advice on how I can assist PIs in writing letters more efficiently, while avoiding unnecessary information overload. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Yesterday was the first Saturday when I deliberately wasn't available for my father to call in years.
A year ago we had to deal with stuff after my grandma passed and I specifically asked him not to propose a date in the first half of July. If he had proposed a date in second half of July I'd manage, date in August or September would be good too. By family agreement he was given the choice when it will be because he said he'll come and he was the only person who would have to buy plane tickets.
He chose a date in the first week of July, I sighed and adjusted my plans. It would have never occurred to me that he would propose a date without looking at how much plane tickets cost. Stupid, I know but I always thought of him as the better parent because he didn't do many mistakes as he was living abroad since my pre-teens.
He didn't come because plane tickets after three weeks of waiting were still too expensive, he sent his mother-in-law (not my grandmother*) with a power of attorney instead. And my plans broke down because I no longer had any margin for error.
(*The rest of family met that woman for the first time in the lawyer's office. She is the mother of his second wife whom he married and didn't bother to tell me or my sibling until I asked why they signed a letter with same last name six months later.)
Last week when I tried to explain to him what his decision meant for me, he didn't care because according to him it's pointless to talk about stuff that happened.
He tried to explain that he's not smart enough to think what would be consequences of his actions on other people. He couldn't comprehend that if he complicates my moving plans, I'll be upset at best.
After the call with him last week, I did look at the past and how he affected it. If he chose not to start his business that recklessly as he did because he wanted to keep up with my workaholic mother, things might have been better. He wouldn't move abroad, he wouldn't have been an absent father. This is a simplification.
He keeps making choices regardless of others.
The calls with him are not a great experience for me either, he'd call some time between my noon and 4 pm depending on when he wakes up. Then he talks and talks. He's not really interested in my life and after an half an hour of him talking, I'm exhausted.
(Also I did try to talk to him about setting a specific time to make it more predictable, so I wouldn't have to sacrifice my afternoons. It didn't work.)
So yesterday I did what makes me happy instead of waiting for him to call, that's also what he recommended I should be doing. Not sure he meant it on Saturday afternoon.
