My company is remote first which is awesome. I work from home in the beginning and end of the week and go in a couple days in the middle of the week. For me it was a best of both worlds scenario. I have a reason to leave my house a couple days a week and still have a wfh benefit half the time.
I was interviewing for jobs when I was laid off and I ended up getting this one which is a much better fit for my career goals and I’m grateful for that and lucky to be working. It’s a much more relaxed work space whereas at my last company, if you weren’t overworked and in tears you weren’t working hard enough. In this economy, there aren’t many jobs available in what I want to do. It’s one of those departments that gets leaned down first when money gets tight. So overall I’m grateful.
The only issue is I’m the only person who HAS to go in. It’s optional for others but not for me. In the first two weeks it was okay because my manager was coming in on two of the days I was to work with me. Now that has stopped. We have catered lunch once a week and sometimes one or two people show up but usually that day it’s just me and the CEO that day. Honestly I’m itching for more work that falls for what you’d expect within my title but most of my meetings are with IT figuring out how to plug in a computer no one shows up to use, or fixing wifi that only I’m connected to. Or ordering a new piece of furniture for the office that the CEO will think makes it feel “less like an office.” And might encourage people to come in. I get here, power through the little bit of work they’ve trained me on and then basically sit in complete silence until the mail arrives, get that, deposit the checks, and then sit in silence again until someone asks me to do something or it hits 5pm.
The main problem for me is I’m someone who hates to be alone. I just enjoy the presence of other people. Even if we aren’t talking it makes me feel safe. I get very depressed when I feel alone. My roommate and I don’t need to be talking all the time, but just knowing he’s in the house is nice but he works nights. So while I don’t see her all the time we usually have breakfast and dinner together before each of us go to work and it’s just enough interaction to feel connected. I know I feel a little more badly right now because my parent and I who I imagined I would spend my life with split up on my first day. I thought throwing myself into the new company and working hard would help but there’s just not an opportunity for that. I basically am alone in office all day long and now have lost my main source of communication. I’m at an age where all my friends are married or engaged and don’t particularly make time for people outside of their relationships. It feels like a lot of my social interactions have gone from being minimal - moderate to minimal - nonexistent.
It’s been 2 months and I’ve started to realize I think they only wanted to hire someone for this position, not because they needed any real help with what I wanted to do but because they needed someone to come sit here and take up space in the office space that they rented. I feel like if they didn’t have this space I wouldn’t have a job and they’d just let my manager remain overwhelmed. In fact, someone I was on a call with today all but confirmed that. They promise to teach me more things but every new meeting just comes with ordering some more office bullshit. I feel horrible on a daily basis. I would love to work from home more but I can tell they’d just let me go if I expressed that. I feel so depressed being here by myself that I spend half the day crying. It’s been a week since another person came in. I don’t know what to do and I’m embarrassed to tell them how badly the loneliness of the office makes me feel. They can’t force the other employees to come in just because I’m sad and alone, but could they at least let me go home if it hits noon and no one has showed up? I just feel like asking anything about my current work schedule will land me back in the job market and I really can’t afford it right now.
I’m starting to feel very worthless. I can’t even really make friends here. Hell, a couple of my friends from my old company have started taking turns working from home and coming to see me for a coffee break once a week. It’s sweet but I can also tell they’re seeing me decline mentally and I feel burdensome.
I don’t know what to do and how to make myself feel better. Any advice appreciated.

My cat gave birth to 5 kittens a week ago. But 3 days ago, I noticed one kitten had stopped nursing and felt cold. It wasn't growing either.
Today when I returned home from work, I found that kitten dying. Shortly after, it was gone - all I found was some blood. The other kittens seem fine, but this one has disappeared without a trace.
Is it possible my cat completely consumed her own kitten, leaving no evidence? I've searched everywhere but can't find it. If this is true, how can I prevent her from doing this to the rest of the litter?
I'm deeply disturbed by this. The idea of a mother cat eating her newborn is horrifying. I need to understand what happened and how to protect the remaining kittens. What advice can you provide to handle this troubling situation?

Just some background information, me (26F) and my bf (26M) just celebrated our 5 year anniversary. He is from a remote northern Canadian town and we currently live in a city 6 ish hours away and just bought a house a year ago. I am from another province but I have family in the city and drive home 8 ish hours usually around the holidays and long weekends. He is extremely close with his family and often goes to visit at least once a month. Some more context, he works a fly in and out job so I only see him half of the year.
He has asked me to move back for years and I always told him I didn’t want to because I would be giving up everything. I finally feel happy with the life I have built in the city. I have new lasting friendships, a good relationship with my family, adventure, and hobbies (I train aerial arts). I already struggle with loneliness and depression when he’s at work as I tend to isolate myself pretty easily and have to force myself to go out, otherwise I won’t have human interaction for days at a time.
We just found out last week that is dad has cancer. His dad is his biggest role model so of course this has destroyed him. He feels guilty for not spending more time, not being there the last five years, etc. I’m doing my best to be a rock for him when he needs it, but he has left to go spend a few months with his family, which is fine because it’s what he needs the most right now, and I told him I would look after the house while he's away.
Of course now the idea of us moving there is stronger than ever, as he said it’s “a damn good reason to move back”. His dad is taking about leaving him the house, and his mom is talking about how someone will need to move in with her if something where to happen since she can’t look after everything herself (they live on a few acres of land). He has three other siblings, two of them have their own families but they all live in the town. His closest brother has mentioned that he and his fiancée are willing to move in with his mom since they are the only ones without a mortgage.
Of course I love my bf so much, and I never want to lose him and I always said he was the one and we were going to get married. I know it’s selfish, and maybe I’m an asshole, but I would be giving up EVERYTHING to move there. My family, my friends, my aerial arts, my job, everything. My family back home has repeatedly told me not to move there as it’s too remote and we’ll never be able to visit (it’s over 10 hours of driving). I’ve always been a city girl. I like going out to bars, restaurants, festivals, downtown life, having my out of town friends visit, etc. My bf has always been a country boy, grew up quadding, fishing, shooting, etc. I enjoy the country but this is not the life I would have made for myself. I’m not sure that I can be happy there, and I’m afraid of being left alone there with no support while he’s gone to work. My family would never visit and neither would my friends. I want to support him, but I’m not sure about making this sacrifice, but I don’t want to lose him either.
tl;dr bf is from small remote town and wants to move back, I don’t want to because the sacrifice is too much for me. His dad has cancer and now the pressure to move back is on.

I would like to add an encouragement post. I am at my 1-year anniversary this week.
As far as I can figure out I have POTS, MCAS, CFS. My recent gut screen was actually pretty good except for a couple of aspects that need correcting.
I was bed/ chairbound for about 3 months. I couldn’t cope with any noisy sensory stimulation; no TV, radio, music. I literally just sat like a potato for weeks. In that time I had unintentional extended fasting where I just couldn’t stand to eat or drink for 2 or 3 days at a time. If I tried to use the stairs at home, there was crawling and resting involved, so I avoided trying to do that. I couldn’t really maintain my personal hygiene very well. My cognitive function was badly affected. Short term memory loss, on one occasion I didn’t recognise my own sister. Unable to read anything more than a couple of sentences or follow a conversation. Unable to interact with more than one person at a time.
After 6 months I was improved enough to try returning to work. I restarted at 4 hours per week. I could not drive at this point. At first I thought I was going to have to drop from a management role to a data entry clerk because my skills were significantly altered.
It is now 6 months later. I work 26-30 hours per week. I crash about 2 or 3 days per month; I’m still learning pacing but in the past month have got much, much better at this. My symptoms for everything except POTS are very significantly reduced. I still score “significantly impacted” on the different scales I am being monitored on, but compared to where I was, in material terms I am much more able. I can now drive for 30 minutes several times per week. I am holding about 50% of my previous work duties at this point. My cognitive function is dramatically better. I can lead a group meeting without crashing, for example.
Today, I had a joyous moment. I took my dog to a park I have not visited for a year. I have not been there because of an incline involved. I did a short walk with her. It was OK.
Every month I get slightly better. I have done a bunch of things to try and aid this. Thank goodness for this subreddit; it has given me the keys, signposted every single thing I’ve tried out, some of which I’m convinced are pivotal for me. I’m not writing a list because I can’t really say for sure - what has done what? Nobody is monitoring me except me. Maybe none of it worked and it was just time. Maybe I’m right, some things were crucial.
I know there are people early on in their journey looking for hope here. I would like to speak up and say I’m very much better. I am starting to contemplate the next forward steps. To all the people still profoundly debilitated: I think of you a lot. I speak about you in my paid work as a community builder. I’m so sorry that this gradual improvement I am describing has not happened for you. It sucks.

Background:
My sons (27m/20m) just bought a nice 2/2 condo in South Florida in mid February.
They've been in the unit fewer than 4 months and in that time I've been visiting once a month, generally not more than a week at a time.
When I leave town, I park my 1971 Chevy pickup in a public parking lot down the block, but when I'm IN town, I use the appropriate guest spots because drumroll.... I'm a guest.
Recently, I've been having some issues with the condo commando HOA board president, a shrew of a woman who lives across the sidewalk from the boys, because they have some sort of a rule in the bylaws limiting the length of a vehicle to 16 feet. (the truck is 200.5" long, AKA: 16' 8.4" long)
Fast forward back to today
I just got off the phone with my oldest, informing me the HOA served him with formal documents demanding the following:
I, personally, vacate the property because I'm not "a resident" (she's literally trying to stop me from visiting my kids)
And
I can't even park the truck in a guest spot during the day, as I've been specifically limited to "pickup and delivery" visitation.
Now, I get the whole "rules are rules" and "we signed the docs of acceptance of the HOA rules", but there are several vehicles that are BIGGER than my old truck (Escalades, giant F150s, etc...) and none of THOSE vehicles are being harassed because, and I quote, "they were grandfathered in". (even though the rule is much older than any of those giant vehicles, but I digress)
It's also a really nice truck, not some POS multi-colored work truck. (it's lowered, nice wheels, clean body, etc...)
OK, fine.
This isn't the first time an HOA has had selective enforcement of rules, certainly won't be the last.
So, where do I go from here, you ask?
Straight to the Americans With Disabilities act.
What she/they don't know, apparently, is I'm a 100% disabled veteran and they are legally obligated to accommodate me.
Time to call my own attorney.

I have a 5 year old E-Commerce business that should do close to $2M net this year. Profitability has essentially doubled every year since launch in 2019. There is more room for growth going forward and I think the business could maintain $2-3M net the next few years.
I am 31M, married to 30F and have a newborn. Our NW is around $4M, $3M excluding business inventory.
Pro's to selling business within 12 months:
Could likely net $5M or so after long term cap gains taxes and brokerage fees. Putting us in the $8-10M range which would be more than enough money for us. Guessing we'd end up with $2M in primary residence and $7M invested which would allow for $200k annual spending at 3% rule.
Growing E-Commerce business's just eat up cash. Have to pay taxes on net income at the highest brackets + have to continue buying more and more inventory to fuel growth, difficult to take out significant cash out of the business without selling
Could reset business/life balance with newborn and likely having a 2nd child in a few years. Granted I only work 30-40 hrs a week now and get fulfillment out of running and growing the business.
Con's to selling business within 12 months:
More of a buyer's market right now, multiples are lower due to interest rates, missed out on a crazy frenzy in 2021/early 2022. Probably looking at 3.5-3.75x multiple today, on the cheaper side for a business of this size.
Typing this out makes me think selling is the move, the way I have been leaning for a year+. Can anyone share their experiences from selling/holding their businesses at a younger age?

Currently a tech school student for D shred and from what I've learned so far, it's a bunch of administrative work. And ironically the job title is "Cyber Security Specialist".
I'm always hearing, "once you get to your new base, you'll be able to learn all cyber related." Just wondering how true is that. Any 1D7s out there a D shred or any of the shreds that cross-trained to other shreds? I chose this career to do technical work (firewalls, GPOs, vulnerability scanning) and definitely NOT push papers or make sure everyone has access and is trained in security. Like leave that to OSI lol.

Cekhov leans back on the chair of his little office and stares at the ceiling for some seconds, resting his eyes from the light of the computer screen. He has worked no stop for… probably hours. He’s exhausted but he probably still has a lot to do; with a tired sigh he takes the little notebook on his desk, he looks at the anonymous black cover for some seconds hoping that whatever he has to do is something fun.

Those notes started appearing months ago and Cekhov has always wondered when she wrote them, since he always has the notebook with him. But somehow Olya managed to reach him also during work hours, and despite Anton’s complaints, both Olya and the young man know those notes are the only things that stop Anton from remaining too much at work or forgetting to have lunch.
He’ll remember to check the time later, but first he should at least read some of those emails. He turns the page, to see which ones have priority, only to find another note.

He looks at the time on the computer screen, 6:34pm. He immediately turns off the computer and starts to leave, he doesn’t want to get scolded like a little kid once he gets home, and Olya can understand when he remained in the office or got stuck in the traffic. In no time he is out of the office and heading towards the exit of the building.

So my boyfriend (M 21) and I (F 23) have been dating for a year and a half now. The relationship itself is good we just have our ups and downs, which most relationships have. My boyfriend's best friend (let's call him Joe) constantly hates on me and tells my boyfriend I'm manipulative, and controlling and is constantly telling my boyfriend to break up with me. For example, my boyfriend and I share locations and Joe told him that I'm using it as a method to control him but I rarely check his location, and have never used his location to try and be controlling in any way, or used it against him in any way. My boyfriend constantly asks Joe to stop talking about our relationship, and stop talking bad about me but Joe will either say he will stop, and then start again a week or so later, or he will tell my boyfriend he's being unreasonable for asking him to stop. I've met Joe and spent time with him and my boyfriend on 2 occasions, and have tried to make amends but him doing this makes me uncomfortable and so I've stopped making an effort. If he's at the house when I come back from work I'll say hello and then go upstairs because I don't want to be around him.
In the past I myself have dropped friends because they disrespected my boyfriend, and wouldn't stop or hear me out and were overall just being rude and I don't associate with people like that. My entire family and friend circle respects my boyfriend, and my relationship and loves to spend time with us both. One of my close friends said that since Joe keeps doing things that negatively impact our relationship, I should tell my boyfriend to choose between us but I would never want my boyfriend to resent me because he had to give up a childhood friend. I just don't know how to approach this situation and feel conflicted. For clarity, my boyfriend does actively stand up for me and ask his friend to stop but then they will still hang out and it won't affect their friendship, but I feel anxious because I know friends words have the ability to sway peoples opinions. What should I do in this situation?

Okay, y’all, I just turned 14 and am a girl. I have a stepmom who always tries to start drama with me. For example, I always get my nails done, and whenever she sees the acrylics, she starts yelling at me because she thinks I’m acting too grown. Here's a list of things she gets mad at me for, just like that: Grades: She gets mad at me for getting B’s, as if it's an F.
Bedtime 😭: So, I usually sleep around 10 pm because my school starts at 9:40 am, so it’s not like it starts early. But she says I should sleep at 8:30, like girl, I was sleeping at 8:30 when I was like 7 years old, be for real.
Makeup: My makeup is literally primer, concealer, highlighter around the eyes, a little bronzer, blush, lashes, and a lip combo, so basically a copy and paste of Latina makeup, I guess. But again, she thinks I’m acting too grown, and makeup is only for high schoolers and older.
Devices: Personally, I have a phone, which she tries to take away from me because I’m too young, apparently. Also, it’s not like I have that many social media apps, probably only BeReal and Insta, which my bio mom has parent controls on.
And a whole lot more things. But anyway, two days ago, she and I were fighting over the fact that I was wearing a tank top, so then she starts saying I’m so rude to her, and then my dad made me apologize. Am I in the wrong?

Every morning before leaving for work my wife and I walk our two dogs up and down the street our neighborhood is on. The street has no sidewalks so it’s the road right up to the edge of the lawn. Wife and I walk on the street and on their leashes the dogs can reach maybe two feet off the street into the grass.
This has been our routine for the entire year and a half we’ve lived here. We do our best to be responsible pet owners that make sure to clean up after they poop but unless I’m mistaken there’s not much that can be done do about pee.
The other morning as we’re finishing up our walk one of our neighbors is standing in their garage and yells over to us, “You need to keep your dogs from going to the bathroom on my lawn. I see you everyday on that camera.” points to driveway camera I replied, “Okay whatever,” and kept walking.
Being the petty bitches that we are, my wife and I made signs that say, “The dogs didn’t pee on your yard today. Happy?” Now on our walks we hold up those signs as we pass this person’s house.
Does it accomplish anything? No. Does it make me feel good. Yes.

My partner and I are from different countries and have a significant age difference. Yet, we get along well due to the similarity in our ethics and core values. I've been dating him for over a year and he is a loving man.
Me and my partner are both in good places in life. I come from a culture where we work hard and play hard; and have an ambition for a good life. On the other hand, my partner comes from a culture where work-life balance is prioritized, and they value living minimalist.
We never celebrate special occasions (I travel a lot, and sometimes we are physically away), I have never received a valuable gift from him; we never go to good restaurants. However, he makes me feel valued with the simple things he says or does. For example, I love flowers... He never buys me bouquets from the florists, but occasionally buys me supermarket flowers.
I have a strong, ambitious, proactive, and passionate personality. On the other hand, my partner is calm, down-to-earth, and passive.
I love my partner. He is a good person, he is kind and reliable. He has the potential to be a good husband and a good father. But, he doesn't ignite the spark in me. I don't feel attracted, I don't feel the passion.
Should I break up?

Okay so this is just my speculation and I'm not an expert on the inner workings of ESC but I am and have been a fan since the early 2000s i.e my childhood. Basically I have a feeling Joost was kicked out in order to rig his votes (which would have been significant in quantity) in the Grand Final to Israel. He was supposed to be the 5th in the original running order to perform in the GF, right before Eden who was 6th. He gets officially disqualified from the competition just A FEW HOURS before the GF on the grounds of something that he supposedly did off-screen. A few news outlets and articles publish this news but no major coverage, and thus a lot of people who were watching the GF live were wondering why the Netherlands wasn't listed.

Now here's the trick: for the first time in ESC history, the rules were changed so that people could start voting immediately as the Grand Final started, without even having seen the list of entries or the performances. Before this year, it was always the case that all 20+ entries had to perform and only after that did the voting open.

So, I believe it's possible that people voted number 5 for Joost without even knowing he wasn't in the competition anymore, but the ESC voting programme had overwritten his slot with the next in line contestant (Eden - Israel - 6), sending all his votes directly to her. I also found it strange how the official running order after his disqualification was 1-2-3-4-6.
This is just my theory and I don't know if it's true but something fishy definitely went on. If anyone has any more insight into whether I might be onto something or if I'm completely wrong for some reason, do let me know.

The Rival Tech; you love to see 'em. Well, maybe not "love", unless you're a Leaf-Lover, or something. Or, in my case, a huge fan of technology.
The Rivals, obviously, are a seperate mining corps which are either in possession of (or run entirely by) machines. Whether it be small, flying razor-blades, machine guns embedded in the ground, evil geometry or sadistic cases of psychological warfare with arms (you know which one I'm talking about - Neme... Nem... Nemis... Neem... the big ones that hurt), it's very unlikely you'll make it to retire from DRG without seeing (or hearing) one of the bags of bolts floating around.
Before we get to the fun part, I just want to make it clear - The origins of the Rivals never have been [and may never will be] explained. As far was all hands in R&D are concerned, they're just tin cans.
Now, for my proposition:

The Rival Technology are Controlled By The Elves.

This might sound like a stretch, but hear me out.

Strength 1: Elves are Too Weak for Hoxxean Gravity

Elves, given their weak structure and pathetic bone strength, cannot survive outside of designated planets with a gravity too strong to support them. Even if Hoxxes IV is capable of supporting the Elves, it may be too dangerous (or simply not worth it) to send members of their race to die in the caves. A safer option, however, would be machines. Their thick, robust chassis and ability to fly would make them resistant to the gravity, naturally.

Strength 2: Machine Hostility to the Dwarves Could Be Explained By The Dwarven/Elven Rivalry

It's no secret that we Dwarves are at odds with their kind. Now, whether I believe the Technology is controlled by Elves directly or simply programmed to accomplish work is another question in of itself, but I believe this machine behavior may be due to the fact that Elves simply hate Dwarves.
Take Nemesis, for example. Nemesis has been designed solely to prey on the Dwarves, not accomplish any other major task. It simply cruises around, crushes Dwarves and crashes into the ground to die. That isn't just some natural industrial bickering. Whoever owns the Rival Tech is out for our BLOOD.

Flaw 1: Elves, Famously, Do Not Use Machinery

This is self-explanatory: Elves prefer their toothpicks and string, not the superior power of a double-barrel. The problem comes in the fact that Elves simply don't care for such heavy machinery, so it isn't brilliant to assume they'd operate something like the Rivals.

Flaw 2: Where Did The Parts Come From?

It's obvious that Elves don't own forgeries. Where could such advanced machines come from? Other Dwarves? Orcs?
Overall, I like the headcanon. I don't know if it's plausible or not, but I simply like the idea of such imposing robots being controlled by our weakest enemies.

I’m a new dad to a 3 week old boy. After an emergency c-section, my wife and I met our healthy baby after waiting for 4 years. Our hearts are full of joy and love, combined with exhaustion as you all can imagine. We have a dog of 5 years. One I’ve truthfully never been super fond of. It’s been a bit of a tug and pull with my wife prior to the baby being born. I’ve told her I don’t like the responsibility of the dog, she said she would take care of him. But of course, I find myself taking the dog out late at night or early mornings, as she would be too tired etc, especially after being pregnant. I never put my foot down as we’ve been trying for years and the dog was somewhat of a support for her when she was down.
Now after the baby is here, she’s distance from the dog. She’s practically got no time for interactions with the dog. Keeping the dog away from the baby, telling the dog to leave the room etc. The dog is definitely neglected and I see him sad. I know this seems all quite sad to hear and feeling bad for the dog, but I guess when you have a baby, I’ve heard some new mums resent their dog during the baby blues.
Since we live in an apartment, every time the dog needs the toilet, it’s strap the baby in the carrier or in stroller, leash the dog and leave. This was quite difficult for her, too. I took two weeks off, but even after she was physically healthy to do it herself, it was still something she doesn’t want to do (although she’ll never admit it).
When I mention ‘I think it’s time we spoke about the dog’ she says let’s wait a few more weeks and see. I’m not sure what to do. Although I don’t like the dog much, it doesn’t feel nice giving him away. However, I do know life would be so much easier and less stressful without him. More importantly, I don’t want my wife to be upset if we gave the dog away, but I don’t think it’ll be as heartbreaking since we now have a baby.
Has anyone been through a difficult time with their pet after having a baby? Can you speak to your experience and how you navigated this?

One of the top lingering mysteries of the RUIN DLC of Security Breach is the identity of The Prototype Glamrock Freddy. Immediately, an argument could be made that it is the original Freddy animatronic. Of course, this is a fair argument to be made, but rather than just simply saying it's this or that, let's go over what we know and what the game tells us.

Prototype Freddy in RUIN

In Chapter 8 of RUIN, in Fazer Blast, Cassie encounters Prototype Freddy. After disabling the mask inhibitor, she discovers Prototype Freddy lying atop a heap of junk and staff bots, partially buried under collapsed catwalk. As Prototype Freddy rises and gives chase, Cassie has to flee.
Cassie is eventually cornered by the Prototype, to which she deactivates the inhibitor and he disappears when the mask is put on.
Theories regarding Prototype Freddy generally fall into one of two categories.

1. Prototype Freddy is the same Freddy as the Freddy in Security Breach
2. Prototype Freddy is a different Freddy

But ultimately, what I want to talk about isn't the theories in detail, but I'll go over them briefly and what are the main points of each argument.

Prototype Is The Same Freddy

When RUIN initially released, the theory about Prototype Freddy being the same Freddy in Security Breach wasn't as common as saying he was a different Freddy. Though this perspective seems to have become the community consensus or at least the one I see the most.
The Princess Quest ending is strongly hinted to be the canonical ending in some capacity, which correlates with Prototype Freddy's absence of a head and his presence within Fazer Blast.
In the PQ ending, Freddy's body is extensively damaged and torn apart, mirroring the condition of Prototype Freddy.
This theory also works with Freddy being in safe mode; if he's disconnected from the network, it's makes sense that he wouldn't appear in the network.

Prototype Is Not The Same Freddy

Prototype Freddy is argued to be a different Freddy due to the prototype writing on his foot, not seen with Freddy in Security Breach. Why would they add this if not to differentiate him from the actual Freddy?
Prototype Freddy is also ontop of a trash pile while he would just be on the floor, as seen in the Superstar ending where Freddy game ends.
Prototype Freddy also doesn't resemble the Freddy we know in Security Breach at all. Where Freddy is nice and friendly, the Prototype is mindless and a monster.
The gift inside Prototype Freddy is also a different color, being green and blue, compared to orange blue we see in the actual Freddy.

How Safe Mode is Assumed To Factor In

A major argument for why Prototype Freddy disappears is safe mode. The argument follows the idea that because Freddy is in safe mode, he is disconnected from the network. The same thing happened to Freddy in safe mode back in Security Breach; he couldn't see Vanny until he got eyes that were connected to the network.
So it's a pretty safe bet to say that Freddy couldn't see Vanny and disappears because he is not connected to the network, right?

Roxy in RUIN

Roxy in RUIN is involved in a cutscene where she grabs onto Cassie's wrist, before Cassie yells at her to let go. Roxy lets go and pauses, even saying error out loud. This later results in the shift we see when Cassie has to deactivate Roxy before she goes into the sinkhole.
The obvious question being, why does this shift occur? And since we're talking about it, the generally accepted answer is that she enters safe mode after the encounter with Cassie.
But the thing is, if she's in safe mode, why can she see Cassie when she puts on the mask? Why can Cassie see her with the mask on?
If Roxy is in safe mode, using the logic of Prototype Freddy being the same Freddy, we should not be seeing her. So what's going on exactly?

How Safe Mode Actually Works

To explain why safe mode doesn't affect Prototype Freddy at all, we first have to look at real-life examples of how safe modes work, and what we see in-game from Freddy.
Safe mode on something like an operating system is a startup mode that provides access to the operating system when the system won't start normally. Depending on the operating system, there might be different safe modes to choose from, and it may be called something different like safe boot, but ultimately, that's not important to the discussion.
When in safe mode, an operating system will often download the necessary files and drivers needed to properly function. Safe mode often doesn't have net access as it's more geared toward turning on the operating system and troubleshooting from there.

How Safe Mode Plays Into SB

We don't get much info or elaboration on Safe mode and how it works with the animatronics. But with what we know, we can gather a few pointers.

1. Safe Mode boots the animatronic with out the Mimic1 program
   
2. Safe mode either activates or is used with reduced power (from what Vanessa says)
   
3. The aniamtronics are disconnected from the network
   

Freddy, obviously loads without the Mimic1 program, as we don't see any of the unusual behavior displayed by the animatronics when afflicted by Mimic1.
Vanessa says,

Now parts and services have you on reduced power. They said it was a safety precaution.

Suggesting a connection between reduced power and safe mode.
Gregory tells Freddy and somehow knows he is disconnected from the network, but says that Vanessa cut him off? It's weird.

The Pizzaplex Network (And Actual Networks)

The network of the Pizzaplex is also something I want to explain. A network in simple terms is a system that connects two computing devices that exchange data and resources. The one most people know is a wifi network.
The Pizzaplex network is a little different, as it connects every electronic part of the Pizzaplex, from technology, devices, animatronics and servers.
The V.A.N.N.I. mask, is simply an extension of the network, allowing the technicians to interact with the network from outside of it.
When a computer shuts off, it disconnects from the network it is connected. Though, some computers through something known as LAN (Local Area Network) can still be turned on by other devices given specific circumstances. Other network managing tools may be able to detect devices, depending on the network.
Networks can also be divided into subnets, smaller controlled parts of a larger network. A company may have a specific subnet designed for the IT department. Often times, subnets are used to make things more efficient and control who has access to what.
If I run a business, where my staff use the network and I want my customers to be able to use the network, I would divide that into subnets so the traffic doesn't interfere with my staff.

What Am I getting at?

The point I'm making is how networks and safe mode function, which helps us understand Prototype Freddy. If Roxanne Wolf is in safe mode when we encounter her before the sinkhole, and then disconnects from the network, logically she should disappear, similar to Prototype Freddy disappearing due to safe mode. In fact, we shouldn't see most staff bots because they wouldn't be connected to the network while powered off.
Roxy is likely in safe mode as we see her talk in the same robotic way Freddy starts to in Security Breach, she doesn't use contractions (You're, Aren't). This is different from Freddy, who we're told doesn't use contractions normally in Tiger Rock.

For comparison.

"I remember because you are number one - twice." - Roxanne talking to Cassie in RUIN

All this is to say, that The Prototype is not in safe mode, and therefore, not the Freddy we know from the base game.

So Why Does He Disappear?

Earlier, I discussed networks and subnets. This is where that becomes important.
A question I didn't see anyone asking when RUIN came out, was about M.X.E.S. Aside from what it is, where it came from and a whole host of other ones. I never saw a specific question. Where does the M.X.E.S. entity go when it disappears?
M.X.E.S. is obviously part of the network, being a digital manifestation of the M.X.E.S. security program, but it doesn't immediately appear in the network despite the fact it should be there, and it's likely tracking Cassie.
M.X.E.S. is in fact in a subnet of the Pizzaplex when we don't see it. Subnets are designed to be secure and provide security for specific parts of the network. So when the entity gets an alert of the security of the network, it exits the subnet and goes into the main Pizzaplex network.
This would also make sense for Prototype Freddy. In order to be more secure and not affected by the corruption of the Pizzaplex network, Prototype Freddy would be moved to a part of the subnet to protect it. The M.X.E.S. program can then use it to stop Cassie like it does with the other animatronics.
That's also how he manages to track you without having a head. Compared to Roxy, Prototype Freddy can't hear anything, since most of its processors relating to hearing and seeing would likely be with its head. It needs a way to track Cassie, and it has no other way besides using the network. And when Cassie puts on the mask, it separates the two.
Prototype Freddy can't swap between the two networks; it remains in the subnet.
We know that the Pizzaplex was undergoing a reconstruction project before it was abandoned by the time of RUIN. We're also told from Tales that not only are there multiple Pizzaplexes, but we see first-hand in The Bobbiedots that animatronics get thrown out if they're damaged or whatever else.
There are tons of ways this could be a different Freddy and still suffer the damages we see. Maybe they were using this Freddy during excavation and abandoned him when the project fell apart.

Conclusion

Prototype Freddy can't be in safe mode to disappear in RUIN. He has to be connected to a different part of the network. It can't be safe mode because then that breaks the rules established by being disconnected from the network.
This was something I had been brewing for a while; it actually had me stumped because I couldn't come to a proper conclusion unless I had some evidence that Roxy was actually in safe mode. It wasn't until I remembered what the story Tiger Rock said that I could actually form a conclusion.

With all of these frustrations the only thing keeping me calm is Johnny's heavy breathing exercises. I'd vastly prefer the currently cucked Chang Mai where I could live like a king for 100 baht a day
