Ranko Matasovic reconstructed *Ogmiyos to explain the name of the Celtic god (Gaulish Ogmios, OIr Ogm(a)e, MW Euuyd \ Ewyð). He said that though *ogm > *ōm might be expected on the model of certain *ogn > *ōn, etc., *m and *n need not behave the same. This is true, but not very likely (nasals often behave the same way, especially concerning voicing). The other possible example of *seg(m)et- > OW seget-, MIr séimed ‘seed / descendants’ shows that *egm > *ēm DID occur, and though he wonders about the source of *-gm- here (*-met- is not a normal ending), *seg- is a known root, *og- is not. In cases like this, there is no reason to say an uncertain sound change is proven one way by an unknown root, and *gm of *Ogmiyos should be abandoned in favor of a different cluster. The only likely source is *Ongmiyos or *Omgmiyos, with later nasal dissimilation. That this occurred after leaving its mark in a sound change is also seen in *smamk^i- > *sme(m)gi- > Irish smeig ‘chin’, where *-mk- is needed to voice *k > g, but the 2nd *m must disappear before regular *emg > *ēg (Whalen 2024a). Two nasals are seen in Hittite zmankur, making it :
*smamk^ru- > *sma(m)k^ur- > Hittite zma(n)kur ‘beard’, šmankur-want- ‘bearded’
*smak^ru- > Sanskrit śmáśru-
*smak^ro- > Lithuanian smãkras ‘chin’
*smamk^i- > *sme(m)gi- > Irish smeig ‘chin’

The only similar word in PIE is *(e/o)ngni-s ‘fire’ (L. ignis, Li. ugnìs, Skt. agní-). Since this occurs in the name of the god Agni, similarities between them should be looked at. Since Ogma is called ‘sun-faced’ and Agni compared to the sun (or sometimes equivalent), Ogmios was equated with Hercules and Agni was said to do the same deeds as Indra (and their births were likely once the same), and both had odd tongues (Agni’s many tongues represented the flames, Ogmios’ tongue connected by chains to his followers represented his eloquent words binding them), there is a reasonable amount to compare.

Ogma is not described in extensive detail, but he is similar to Lug. Since several gods might be split into more (if they had multiple names), I will also consider this connection. Hercules is most similar to Cú Chulainn; if Ogma was an earlier name, then trying to find common elements in all 3 might help. Cú Chulainn’s real name was supposedly Sétanta ‘knowing the way’. If this was an epithet of a god, it would be for one associated with intelligence, not strength. Ogma is known for both, and Lug is skilled in many arts. One god of fighting strength and knowledge is possible, but 3 would e pushing it.

OIr Lug (Ir. Lugh, Lugu- in Gaulish) is likely related to a similarly “clever” god, Norse Loki. Since *g > k would be expected in Germanic, this could have some value in reconstructing *Lug-u- vs. *Lug-on-, but this would not be related to any meaningful PIE root. The primacy of regularity would require Lugu- ‘lynx’, but this seems like grasping at straws. It’s possible both are somehow related to *l(e)uk- ‘light’ (ON leygr ‘flame / fire’, Skt. roci- ‘light/ray/beam’). Loki’s connection to fire (such as his descent from lightning and a tree, like a forest fire) shows he was a once a god of fire, among others. His punishment is very similar to Prometheus’, who gave fire to man. In a myth (probably late) Loki has an eating contest with Logi (the personification of fire). Both Old Norse loga ‘flame’ and logi come from Indo-European *leuk- ‘bright, light’. If Loki came from the same root, the -k- would be unexplained. The cause could be found in Icelandic bingur ‘heap’, Norwegian bunga / bunka ‘small heap’. Seeing g > k in one word, also an old n-stem, suggests that PIE *kn > *gn > Gmc. *kn could be at work (as in *doik^no- > E. token), or that Gmc. *nK or *nKn was irregular (see below). Since n-stems had *-o:n in the nominative, but *-nos in the genitive, or similar inflection, a split of the older into two words later is possible:

Sometimes *k > g in Celtic for no known cause (OIc. hafr ‘male goat’, L. caper, OIr. gabor), so there is no proof lug- did not come from *luk-. It is also possible that Lugu- is related to *lugh- in *lughra: > OW loyr, W. lloer ‘moon’, L. lūridus ‘pale yellow / wan / ghastly’, which would serve the same semantic purpose, even if from a separate root. It seems likely to me that *luk- and *lugh- would be related, since many IE roots are nearly identical except for voicing, such as *KaP- ‘hold’ > *ghabh-eH1 > L. habeō, *kap-ye- > L. capiō ‘seize/take’,*gab- > Arm. kapem ‘bind’.

Since *ogmos > OIr ogum ‘Ogham writing’ is an o-stem, 3 different endings would exist (legend says Ogmae created ogum). With this, that the PIE word is *(e/o)mgni(yo)- / *(e/o)ngmo- / etc. and not *(e/o)ngni-s ‘fire’ allows figures similar to Lug to be added, especially if they had no etymology before. With more nasal dissimilation *n-m > *n-w, Gmc. *Ingwaz, ON Yngvi, OE Ing (which were likely other names for Frey). For *ngm > *nkw, since Kümmel proposed outcomes of Gmc. *nK that were not governed by Verner’s Law, *nKn might be a special case, both possibly irregular. Since Ing was “seen first among the East Danes” and had a wagon that could move over water he resembles the sun and other Sun Gods with flying boats or chariots. This could have also originally been like Frey’s magic foldable ship Skíðblaðnir or Wade’s boat Guingelot.

It is not easy to determine an origin for *(e/o)ngmi(yo)-. However, since Agni shows many signs of being particularly associated with the domestic hearth, his female equivalent being *westu- ‘dwelling / home’ >> L. Vesta, G. Hestíā suggests a source for odd *-ngm-. If his name also came from ‘home’, a compound of *domyo- (Skt. dámya- ‘being in a house/homely’) could be *en+domyo- > *endmyo- ‘(that) which is within a house / hearth / focus’. With no other old examples, *ndm > *ngm seems possible. As for *(e/o)-, it could be optional rounding by *m in *emgnyo- > *omgniyo- (compare also optional e > o by KW in *penkWe > *kW- > O. *pompe ‘5’, L. quīnque; Ga. pempe-, *kWonkWe > OIr cóic ). If not, I have also considered it possible that PIE *(H)en ‘in(to)’ was actually more complicated. Consider :

Both groups mean the same thing, alternate *t / *d and *Tr / *TVr for no clear reason. Some of this might be contamination between similar stems, but, if not, it could be that *ewen ‘in’ existed, becoming *en when not stressed (or in quick speech, or as a clitic, etc.). If so, *ewen-taro- could become *ent(e)ro- / *went(a)ro- ‘interior (of body)’, maybe with optional assimilation of *e-e-a > *e-e-e and *ntr vs. *ndR (for optional *r pronounced as uvular *R, see Whalen 2024b). With this, *ewen- or *ewem- > *on- / *om- might be more likely, and the w of *Ingwaz could be original. Whatever the case, I feel many of these problems need more study.

Before going into it, I want to mention how this post was inspired by three things. One was user u/HastyvonFuego2 and their post on going down the rabbit hole on the Kendrick sub last week. It was also inspired by Childish Gambino’s first album release in nearly 6 years where I have been sitting on this idea for a while but he inspired me to finally post this week like he did (never posted on Reddit at all before so be gentle if I am not doing it right)! I was also inspired by an interview Bino gave to GQ about breaking down his most iconic characters. In this interview he says how This is America started out as a Drake diss but then he realized the song was too hard for just Drake so he kept working on it. He also talks in this interview about how all culture is about compression. Which means that yes, This is America is about the gun violence and police issues in America, but compressed in this video is also more about where that culture comes from which he shows is from a small handful of rap moguls, namely Drake, Diddy and Jay-Z (bear with me on this long post, I think/hope it will be worth it). At the end I talk briefly about how Little Foot Big Foot might be in this same vein of cultural compression.

The beginning of this song has no background music yet, which really gives it an ‘in the beginning’ feel. Then Gambino starts doing his dances with weird facial expressions. I will explain as we go through his video how those expressions and dance moves represent different famous rap moguls. One easy look to pick out right away is Jay-Z’s famous lip curl/growl look that Gambino gives with a head nod repeatedly. The colonial pants have been a hot topic, but since it’s only the pants that are colonial, Gambino is saying the bottom or basis for this violent culture in America is ultimately colonialism. The lyrics ‘Go Away’, are likely foreshadowing the rap moguls wanting other popular rap rivals to ‘go away’ or they will make them (aka murder them) for profit.

Usually you want money for yourself and to party for yourself, so this is a bit odd. But what Gambino is referring to is similar to these Diddy ‘freakoff parties’ we are hearing about where people who want to be famous are really partying for these rap moguls so they can get close to them. Where they suck up to them saying that they want to earn the mogul money from their songs.

Then this almost feels like the Diddy rebuttal where he’s like ya I know you want to party and you want to do it for free. Like Katt Williams says, “you gotta tell Diddy no”, it is never free to go to those parties. There are always consequences. When you are partying you are dancing, but shaking the frame could refer to how those boundaries/edges are being crossed, lines are blurred, etc.
Then in the video, the fellow who was playing the guitar gets shot and things turn dark from happy music. I believe that this guitar tune is meant to represent 2Pac and Nas’s song Thugz Mansion. It’s one of the original greats from ‘in the beginning’. Nas famously has always had major issues with Jay-Z too (More on why 2Pac and Nas later). It also represents how it was these moguls who murdered 2Pac like Jaguar Wright and Katt Williams keep saying. Where these murders only lead to more money and fame for the killers when the dead artists’ and their music are exploited more easily.
Also note that the gun gets taken away by a school kid after the shooting, more on this later as well.

There is a song called Guns in My Area by Lil Weiner and Baby Chapox that paints a vivid picture of the everyday struggles and conflicts faced by those living in communities affected by gun violence. More compression of other songs and the American gun culture.

I am almost certain this line is referring to 2Pac’s song Changes. Throughout This is America, Gambino takes lines from Pac’s song: “They get jealous when they see you with your mobile phone” (referred to later in this a Celly, that’s tool) “That's the sound of my tool, you say it ain't cool, My mama didn't raise no fool”
“And as long as I stay black, I gotta stay strapped, And I never get to lay back” It seems like Gambino broke up these lyrics and scattered them throughout his song. This plays into the theme that everyone is using 2Pac and enriching themselves off of his image and music. I show below how this particular section of the video represents Diddy meaning that Diddy himself is exploiting his music (and alleging that Diddy killed Pac?). We could see this exploitation play out at length with how much Diddy milked the death of Biggie like in Every Breath You Take.

The song Gorilla War by $uicideboy$ and Ramirez talks about getting a bag repeatedly in the course. Also in Otis with Kanye and Jay-Z their lyrics talk about going gorilla (I talk about this song more further down), so it could be referring to this as well. It seems like Gambino is trying to pull out lyrics from all across the rap culture and embed them in his song to highlight the ‘cultural compression’.

I think that all of the school kids in the video represent all of the rappers that are signed with these big labels. Which is interesting because they are the ones facilitating the guns for the moguls in the video. You can see that the mogul is really focused on the kids and gets agitated and directs them to follow him whenever they stray off a bit like they are his pupils, or like he owns them. Then all of a sudden the camera comes into a scene where you can see more kids shooting a rap video and all shooting money from a Supreme gun. The camera zooms out almost to show you that this is the mogul’s whole rap empire they are looking over, all of their kids in one place (this empire already includes some chaos in the background). It’s subtle but hilarious, Gambino puts fricken chickens on the ground where the kids are filming the rap video. He is directly calling all of these rappers complete chickens for playing up this lifestyle and being the cause of so much chaos rather than coming out and telling somebody what’s really going on. Trying to get their money over everything else.

This is where things start to get interesting. Gambino is literally saying, go tell somebody about this! We all know what’s happening, why don’t you go let people know how bad it is? But like Jaguar Wright said, who do you tell when these moguls have the cops and feds paid off? This video is literally Gambino putting it all out there in this extremely popular song for everyone to see but yet we still just see the dancing and the violent chaos of people and police in the streets and not the root cause that is hidden in plain sight.
The vast majority of those who reviewed this video until now think this scene represents the tragic church shooting in Charleston in 2015. I think it does, but we also have to look at this from an angle of compression.
The people in the choir are all of the people who are currently singing the rap mogul’s praises and who are focused on going and getting what’s owed to them, get their money (who are also profiting off of the dead fellows music since it goes back to the original tune). You can see that each choir member has a distinct look to them. Think about who you are hearing about now who is about to be implicated in these freak offs and evil deeds. Is that Will Smith in the back left corner!? The short bald fellow in the front left maybe Kevin Hart? Rick Ross or TD Jakes maybe the bigger guy towards the back right? When the camera zooms in on the choir right at first to show their faces, doesn’t the guy in the bottom middle look like an uncanny version of Jordan Peele? Or is that meant to be Cuba Gooding Jr? Then just like the guitar fellow at the beginning, bang. You may be singing Diddy’s praises now, but he will cut you down whenever he suddenly feels like it.
I think almost for sure this initial section of the music video is Gambino acting as Diddy, because right after he shoots the choir, he does the elbow pump/chicken dance. At 3:14 in Diddy’s video for P.E. 2000 he does the chicken dance (he is up first in the video and I think Gambino is trying to say here I first present to you the first public enemy of 3 in this song). That elbow dance signals that it was Diddy and this is the end of his section.

There have been many accounts of celebrities being given fancy cars after suffering abuse at the hands of these moguls. So these lyrics are saying that you better not slip up and tell people what’s really going on. And if you don’t look at this sweet carecord deal/movie contract I am going to give you. Beiber told this story about Diddy wanting to give him a luxury car.
Now suddenly, the dance switches from the chicken dance to a sudden bicep flex to signal us that we have now moved on from Gambino representing Diddy to our next mogul.
[Verse 2: Childish Gambino, Quavo, Young Thug, 21 Savage & BlocBoy JB]
This next chunk of the video is all about Jay-Z. I think this is the case because he throws his arms up in a bicep flex just like Jay does in the Otis music video at 2:38. And it makes sense Gambino would pick a dance move from a video with a huge American flag in the background to fit the ‘This is America’ theme. Gambino is mocking him saying, who are you really, the pretty guy or this hard gangster like Gambino shows in his dancing. Also right before they pan to the kids on the balcony, Bino also does Jay-Z’s signature lip curl look a couple times so we know it’s him and to signal the end of his section.

Jay-Z is famous for making the fitted Yankees cap famous, it’s his signature look. More signs this verse is about Jay.

Jay-Z has been seen in full wallpaper Gucci sweat suits but could also be referring to Gucci Mane who he hung out with at Beyonce’s tour around the time this song was released.

These lines are probably referring to Jay-Z having a hidden preference for men, especially with the way Gambino flicks his wrist in the video when he says I’m so pretty.

I think that “this a celly, that’s a tool” harkens back to 2Pac’s lyrics in Changes where he sings, “They get jealous when they see ya with your mobile phone” then shortly after that he sings about the sound of his tool, referring to shooting a gun. But Childish flips these lyrics on their head. He is saying that it’s really the phone that’s a tool to be using, not a gun. And pans up and shows (the school kids specifically) on the balcony filming everything going on below. He’s telling the kids/other rappers, use your phone as a tool, you can record these bad deeds when you get blackmailed into being at the freak off. That’s how you can kill them and their career, not with a gun. Go tell somebody! There is also the reference to Kodak which plays into the picture taking theme, but also because Kodak Black has been accused of assaulting a teenage girl in a hotel room. So we have a good idea of what Gambino suggests all the kids start filming and collecting evidence of.

Now we are onto Drake’s part. In the video Gambino starts doing the BlocBoy JB dance called Shoot. Drake is known for doing these little viral dance moves like in Hotline Bling. But not only that, this dance is also used in the song that both BlocBoy JB and Drake collaborate on for their video Look Alive. It starts at 2:07 in the Look Alive video. So this is Drake’s dance to signal his part is now starting.
Note this is where the pale horse rides by also potentially saying that Drake is one of the horsemen of the apocalypse. Interestingly, Drake’s collab with BlocBoy JB was pretty much the apocalypse for BlocBoy’s career, who hasn’t had a hit since.

Again, we know this is Drake’s section because his song 10 bands starts out by saying “10 bands, 50 bands, 100 bands” almost identical to Bino’s lyrics here. Also Blocka was famously used by Biggie in his song Gimme the Loot which could be referring to Biggie's demise like Pac’s and making money from his death. Everything in this industry originates from pushing drugs, which has been alleged through the trafficking that Diddy, Jay-Z and Drake do through their private jets likely connected to their bosses, the Clive Davises and Lucian Grainges of the world. This escalates rap beefs and the whole culture to the next level where murder is often a consequence for young rappers in their prime when international drug lord money is involved.
An interesting point is this is the only time where Childish was about to shoot someone in the video, but where he didn’t have a school kid either handing him the gun or taking it away carefully from him. (Maybe also a diss at Drake that even though he acts hard he doesn’t shoot, he gets his horseman of the apocalypse to do his dirty deeds for him instead perhaps?). This is the beginning of the end for the rap mogul as he no longer has his kids doing his bidding for him. A simple message to show how the violence can be stopped, that these shootings can end when the kids stop enabling them. So then as soon as he can’t react in that moment and shoot someone his anger is forced to chill out, as shown by smoking a J, and to go back to exploiting the dead man’s music instead. If you don’t put a gun in someone’s hand when they are heated, those feelings too shall pass - kinda feel.

Whose voice does that sound like!? It sounds a lot like Diddy to me, public enemy #1. This is basically saying that the moguls are the ones who we all owe it to for all of this glorified gun violence in America. That we owe them way more follows and likes for what a massive influence they have had on the violence and chaos we see in America today.

In Moneybagg Yo’s song 1, 2, 3, he also has a line that says “1, 2, 3, let’s go!” in a similar vein.
But something interesting I came across was Nas’s song Get Down where they use a sample from James Brown's “The Boss” that sounds extremely similar to the way Gambino screams “Get Down!” Which would fit well if the guitar singer from the beginning is meant to be Nas and Pac doing Thugz Mansion.
Also make sure you check out Nas’s song Get Down so that you can hear how much Jay-Z outright copied this song for The Story of OJ. From the musical structure with the piano and interwoven samples right down to the theme reiterated by the sample at the end of Nas’s song: “If that’s how our people are gonna get down, how are we ever gonna get up?”
SZA
Finally to wrap up the video, I have been stumped for a long time as to why SZA is randomly at the end of this video sitting on one of the cars. But I think I finally know why and it reconfirms that this last scene is all about Drake. If you watch Drake’s music video for Worst Behavior (not very Canadian of him to spell behaviour that way I might add) you will see Drake rapping and dancing with a few cars surrounding him and one of those cars has other rappers making cameos in it. In Gambino’s video SZA represents that car with a famous cameo. I think this is further confirmed when the black edges of the video start closing inwards at the end of This is America, the exact same way that Worst Behavior ends. So why SZA as the cameo then? Cause it reminds people that Drake is a p*do.
This is from an article in the Rolling Stone: In 2020, Drake revealed publicly that he and SZA had dated over a decade ago, well before she was an established artist (her earliest music goes back to around 2012; her critical breakthrough, Ctrl, came in 2017). On 21 Savage’s “Mr. Right Now,” Drake rapped about a newer fling who was a fan of SZA’s: “Yeah, said she wanna fuck to some SZA, wait / ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08 / If you cool with it, baby, she can still play.” A few days later, SZA responded, corroborating Drake’s claim with a slight correction: they dated in 2009, when both would have been over 18. Since SZA would not have turned 18 until late 2008, she wanted to set the record straight. “in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered 🥴lol I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait [sic],” she tweeted. “I just didn’t want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening . Completely innocent . Lifetimes ago . [sic]”
If you have to specifically say something isn’t creepy and distance yourself from it being lifetimes ago, it usually is creepy. Drake would’ve been 22 when she was 17. Metro Boomin also happens to be on the Mr. Right Now track. He is currently in trouble for resurfaced old tweets showing how Metro used to tweet disgusting things about what he wanted to do to underage girls. Interestingly, Metro Boomin is also now beefing with Drake.
Drake doing his dance on the car of the original musician’s music seems to be accusing Drake directly of stealing 2Pac’s music. Orlando Brown recently said the cryptic statement that “Drake is Pac” which likely means he stole 2Pac’s approach/style/audience after his death. Gambino did some good foreshadowing here too with the recent AI release Drake put out of 2Pac.
This dance scene also signals that the Drake section is now over.

The outro lyrics speak to how these gatekeepers keep black men down and control them with things like being forced to wear a dress to become famous or to submit to homosexual/p*do acts.. In the video, as I mentioned above, the black edges close in on Drake’s dancing scene in This is America. But they don’t completely close and end things like they do in the Worst Behavior video. Instead, in Gambino’s video, the camera pans to show the mogul running for his life with Young Thug’s lyrics almost like a quiet echo in the background. He isn’t running from the cops though, he’s running from the kids and from the public. When I mentioned earlier that the kids not handing over the last gun before Drake’s scene signalled the beginning of the end for the moguls, this is that conclusion. Where it is showing that if all the kids come together to stop enabling and rather expose the moguls, people will be chasing these bastards down once we realize what has been going on behind the curtain. Then the song that Young Thug is singing can just be a quiet echo of the way things were in the past.
If you don’t think Gambino would be this deep and that I went too far down the rabbit hole, do a Google search on the calculations that he came up with for why he sings about loving until 3005 in his song. He seems to go real deep with his lyrics. So a big question this leaves us with is, what did Childish Gambino witness in the rap industry? His whole rap career plays out like he is trying to avoid industry norms.
Even in Sweatpants, he has lyrics like:

Childish Gambino has always refrained from talking about the meaning of This is America whenever he is asked, and I can only assume that all of this is why.
Little Foot Big Foot
Now with his new release, Little Foot Big Foot and applying cultural compression to it, it has me wondering if he is referring to Megan Thee Stallion and the Nicki beef? People like Nicki (calling Megan Big Foot) have been claiming for some time she wasn’t even shot in the foot by Tory Lanez. There were many people laughing and making fun of Megan over getting shot. Which could be an interesting story for Childish to tell to represent how crazy this violent culture has gotten that people just laugh and blame the victim now when you get shot. Also a good metaphor for things like ‘shooting yourself in the foot’ for not having a lawyer look over potentially predatory industry contracts like in the beginning of his video. That you want to get in the cool kids club so bad you overlook it. Not as sure on this one though since the song just came out and I have only heard it a few times.
One last thing that is really interesting, there have been tons of artists on podcasts like Shay Shay talking about the strings these ultra rich moguls can pull. Like buying awards or gatekeeping people from being in the industry at all. There was even a story, I think maybe it was Gene Deal who told it, that when Killer Mike won at the grammys that Jay-Z was so angry he made sure to mess up his night by getting him locked up as soon as he left the awards stage. These moguls are extremely powerful and have an incredible amount of sway in the world/industry. If you check out Gambino’s profile on Youtube, his old music videos keep getting taken down, like Bonfire for example is just gone. Fans have been having to upload the videos themselves. There is a reply to a comment, on one of the fan uploaded vids, from Gambino’s account himself when someone asks why the videos are being taken down. His account just replies “Noone knows why :(“ Seems a bit odd all things considered and like maybe he has been at the mercy of these gatekeepers for going against the system.

I'm doing a little research project on this subject and have hit a wall. You probably know that in 1843, Joseph Smith published in The Times and Seasons that:

“It has been stated that [Mormon] was derived from the Greek word mormo. This is not the case. ... We say from the Saxon, good; the Dane, god; the Goth, goda; the German, gut; the Dutch, goed; the Latin, bonus; the Greek, kalos; the Hebrew, tob; and the Egyptian, mon. Hence, with the addition of more, or the contraction, mor, we have the word MOR-MON; which means, literally, more good.”

But he doesn't say exactly WHO was saying that it came from mormo. The closest thing I can find is from E.D. Howe in Mormonism Unvailed in 1834, saying:

"the word Mormon, the name given to [Joseph Smith's] book, is the English termination of the Greek word 'Mormoo,' which we find defined in an old, obsolete Dictionary, to mean 'bug-bear, hob-goblin, raw head, and bloody bones.'"

But he says "Mormoo," while Joseph's response specifically says "Mormo" (which is the accurate spelling of the word). I'd think the Times and Seasons would've quoted Howe exactly and got the spelling as Howe printed it - at the very least to establish specificity and dominance. lol Plus, Mormonism Unvailed was published nearly a decade earlier than this response. Why respond to it in 1843? I'm convinced that there was something else, maybe something propagating Howe's theory with more accurate Greek, but I just can't find anything. Any help? Thoughts?
P.S. - 'Mormo' really is a Greek name for a demon akin to the boogeyman. Mormo also appears in the 1969 Satanic Bible by Anton Szandor Lavey as "King of the Ghouls," which gets quoted in The God Makers.

Ok so it’s my first time posting something like this so I apologize in advance if it’s bad, super long and all over the place. Please bear with me.
I (27f) have been together with bf (29m) for 5yrs. I say we have been together for 5yrs but out of those 5yrs, we’ve only been physically together for a year before I moved overseas to study, and we’ve been in a long distance relationship ever since. We’ve had a lot of ups and downs, yes he has cheated on me a few times and I end up forgiving him for it, mostly cos I blame myself for being the one who moved away. Idk if this piece of info is important but I did suggest we break up (it’s important to me to get a degree and I didn’t think it’s fair to make him wait for me) but he insisted on a long distance relationship. So throughout our relationship I decided to give way to a lot of things because I thought I owed him that for choosing school.
Anyways, I think I’m at my limit and I think I basically dug my own grave for giving way to a lot of things he did and tolerating so much of his bad behaviors. My bf would tell me every chance he gets that he loves me, that he misses me, that he believes we can make this work, and that fighting in a relationship is normal, that it’s what we do, we fight and we make up. But I feel like all those things he said are just empty words. He says he loves me and misses me but he never does anything about it. He never initiates video calls, or audio calls, except when he wants something from me. When he wants to ask me for money, he would be the sweetest man I’ve ever met, would initiate vid/aud calls, would be super affectionate, spend few hours with me on the phone, then later ask for money. This happened so many times, that whenever he suddenly become sweet, I can already guess he needs money from me. I’ve confronted him about it but that just resulted in him getting offended saying I’m greedy and arrogant for even thinking that of him.
So fast forward to our most recent issue, my bf hardly ever spends time with me, makes time for me or plan date nights. Before we used to have date nights, where we’d just hang out via vid call, plays games together or watch movies or just talk nonsense. Those date nights became less and less until they became nonexistent. I think it was pathetic of me but I started fighting over it. I started getting mad why we weren’t having date nights anymore, then he would schedule for one, but when the time came he would ask me nicely if we could postpone it to another time cos he really wanted to go out with friends.
He did last week, he did it last few days ago, then he did it last 2 days ago. He planned for us to have a date night 2 days ago, I told him I had school stuff to do that time and would be busy. He said to make it possible, I told him I could but it would be just less than 2hrs. Then he said it’s ok, he will wait for me that time even if I was too busy, that whole day would be mine and his time and attention would be all on me. So yeah two days ago that day arrived, from early morning I raced to get things down fast so I can have a lot of free time for me and bf. I managed to finish off everything before 7pm, I texted him to let him know that we would now be able to spend long hours together.
The reaction wasn’t what I expected. I don’t even know why I expected anything good. I guess I was just being hopeful this relationship and us, still could be saved. He was mad, he started interrogating me repeatedly even after I repeatedly explained to him. He kept saying that I’m going back on my word, telling him I would be busy and barely have time for us, then suddenly I’m free for the whole night. This kept on until we had a heated argument, he said now he won’t have time to go out with his friends, cos I basically “wasted his time”, then told me date is cancelled and would be moved to the next day.
I just idk, I felt like enough is enough, and told him it’s now or never. He said he’s the man so he gets to say when the time should be. So I just told him off that since his time and attention is so hard to get that I constantly need to fight for it, and he would weaponize it against me, I rather not have any anymore. He started saying that he would wait for me to calm down first so I can communicate with him like an adult and he would be waiting for me apology, and he would accept me back. I just blocked him and deleted him.
He emailed me saying I’m really selfish and narcissistic. I don’t know, I’m starting to feel maybe I am?

Most beings think they understand the scale of space-time, they’re wrong. Usually, they barely have a hint of an idea of the scale of their own local system, much less the distance the stars are separated by. The majority of the galactic member species are hundreds to thousands of light years from their nearest neighbors. Only the eighteen species in the core halo were closer than that. The further from the core a species civilization was, the farther they were from anyone else. Earth happened to be thirty thousand light years from the core worlds, and at the opposite side of the galactic core.
The long delay between humanities spread to the stars and their discovery of FTL had led them to master sub-light propulsion and maneuvering. Each colony had built shipyards to construct their own fleets, sharing innovations and developments as quickly as sub light communications would allow. Six centuries after the first interstellar flight to Proxima Centauri humanity discovered worm hole communications, and the pace of their advancement accelerated exponentially.
Upon discovering FTL the humans had retrofitted or rebuilt their entire fleet of military and civilian craft. The practical result was that the Human Federation navy and the Galactic Confederation’s navy were approximately the same size. Humanity had long held that sometime in the future a threat would come, and the old adage, “best to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it,” was something of a guiding principle. And so they had built warships, many, very large warships.
The same tech that was used in the suits the Four wore was taken from the inertial compensation systems in use throughout the human fleet. It enabled human ships to accelerate and change course in ways that would inflict instant lethal acceleration and deceleration forces on any being in them if those systems were not in place. The ion plasma shields they developed to deflect cosmic radiation at near light speed had also proved to be remarkably effective against everything else.

The Xielion swept into the galaxy from above the plane on the outer edge, Teltharus being the first inhabited world they encountered. As reports came back from the outer edge the human and galactic strategists had analyzed the tactics of the Xielion. The surveillance drones reported that their fleet was spread in a two light year arc bowed in the direction of their vector into the galactic plane. The front edge was populated with their capitol ships and support carriers, with the supply craft and infantry carriers trailing behind.
What data they had on the sack of Teltharus was played in holo vids across the Confederation, obligating Confederation officials to send a portion of the fleet to answer. The Xielion had all but crushed that force of three hundred ships. Five escaped, one with the most valuable cargo possible, a captured Xielion troop carrier and its crew.
They were, in essence, spiders; very large eight-legged arthropods. The humans called them, “the spiders from hell.”
Much like the galactic arthropod species, they communicated with clicks, chirps, chemicals, and body language. The galactic intelligence community left translation to the Alkar, the species most like the Xielion, and the interrogation to the humans. To say the galactic intelligence community was surprised at the human’s methods would be putting it very kindly. They were even more surprised at how effective those methods were.
The Xielion were as arrogant and entitled as they could possibly have been, but after a few cycles with their assigned human they would volunteer information as soon as the human entered their cell. The Xielion had come from a death world, but the force of gravity on that world was less than half of Earth’s. A single human could physically overpower a Xielion warrior with a modicum of effort, and in their holding cells on the human worlds the Xielion could barely lift themselves from the floor.
Thier race had arisen in the Sagittarius dwarf galaxy eons ago, and when they had finally exploited everything they could from their home galaxy, they turned their ambitions to the great disc of the Milky Way.
One of the other things most beings can’t grasp is the number of stars there actually are, but the human strategists had. They sent teaser strike forces into the flanks of the Xielion armada, poking at them from every system they passed to try to get them to split their force, and to chase down the persistent attackers. On the worlds the Xielion had occupied the humans had landed disruption forces; specially trained operatives that sabotaged critical facilities and then disappeared. The humans and galactic forces would set traps on uninhabited worlds all along the vector of the Xielion, mining space lanes with cloaked hunter mines and automated missel platforms that mimicked asteroids, and all the time the Xielion bled ships and numbers.

The helpers, under the direction of Susan, had focused on weapons and tactics. The fabricator had again steadfastly refused to make weapons or their parts, so the engineers had to find a way around that particular roadblock. It turned out that the fabricator would produce things it could not find in its database as pieces of a weapon. The railgun pistol that all the fighters had was one result.
Another result was the suits. Susan had an epiphany one brainstorming session, and that led to a development that was now in place across the galactic infantry. She had reasoned that, if the gravity compensation systems of the fleet could be miniaturized to make their suits work, then the shielding technology could too. It had taken the combined efforts of the physics department and the mechanical engineering department, and an entire term, but all the fighters at the academy, and the entirety of the Galactic Infantry, now wore shield suits.
The Very Important People had wanted to drag Susan and the team back to Earth to thank them, but Susan and her friends had politely, but firmly, refused to leave the academy.

“Teltharus will be avenged,” Liara said from Andre’s side. His second-in-command. She was becoming a force of nature thanks to her human friends giving her a master’s level course in badassery ala human style. He loved it. The faith she now had in her physical abilities had changed her. She carried herself with grace still, but there was an unspoken power in her movements, and a confidence in her manner that made him proud.
“I’m going to ask the provost to let us do the modifications to the facility we’ve been talking about,” Andre told them. “Support, I’d like our weapons ready to deploy in the next few cycles. Fighters, we’re going to double our training time.” He turned to Liara. “We don’t hold back.”
“This one’s Si Fu has taught her well, and continues to,” she said, smiling coyly. “This one and her Si Fu will make certain that those are ready.”

Liara stood in the center of the practice ring with a titanium rod a meter and a half long in her right hand. Susan had produced the weapon after Liara, Arwen, and Andre had explained the rules around weaponry in her upcoming dual with Liara Ah Ang. They were allowed any one weapon that did not shoot a projectile. Knives, swords, whips, clubs, and staffs were all allowed. Andre and Liara had settled on a fight strategy, and the staff was part of it. Arwen and Liara were also working on a separate strategy of their own.
The two-meter-tall hexapod that, to the humans, resembled a locust to an alarming degree, tapped its blade against the shield its suit was generating. “I am ready,” its translation module said.
“Begin,” Liara said as she advanced.
Tormalriel jabbed and slashed at her, and Liara parried with her staff, always complimenting her opponent on style and encouraging them to come at her. Dancing with Jason, which had become one of her favorite things, had also been incorporated into her fighting style. She and Tormalriel wove and dipped around each other as they each sought an advantage in the deadly dance. As with all the SDA, Liara slowly increased the difficulty of her attacks and defenses as that dance went on.
She also talked, a lot.
“You credit the Thorm, Tormalriel,” she said as they parried a thrust from her staff. “Always be ready for the return,” she said as her staff came back around, barely missing thier head as they ducked. “Very good,” she complimented. The Thormian came back up under Liara’s outstretched right arm and staff to slash at her torso, but she wasn’t there. Sensing the feint she had simply collapsed to the floor and rolled away.
“Never stop,” Liara said, as she sprang to her feet and advanced again. The Thormian threw itself at Liara using its back legs to propel itself across the ring. “Excellent,” she encouraged. Using her staff she pushed Tormalriel’s blade into the ground and the Thormian tumbled sideways twice before regaining its feet.
“Well done, Dulphan,” Andre said with a grin, encouraging his own student.
“This one’s SI Fu is kind,” Liara said back, with a smile of her own. “Suspend.”
The Thormian stood from its crouch and approached Liara and Andre. “I nearly had you, Dulphan,” they said.
Liara smiled. “Nearly,” she acknowledged, “Conceal the blade better in your feints, and this one will have a harder time anticipating your next move.”
“This is surveillance one to commander,” a voice said from Andre’s wrist device.
“Commander,” Andre responded.
Background sounds of a commotion preceded the voice. “We have a ship, in bound, from thirty degrees above ecliptic,” the voice said, and Andre could hear the stress in it. “Light cruiser size, three semi cycles out.”
“Liara, marshal the fighters,” Anrde said, and she sped off with Thormian beside her. “Arwen," he called into his wrist.
“Here,” she responded.
“Let’s use plan four,” he said. “You get the non-fighters to their safes, and then meet us at muster.”
“Got it, boss” Arwens voice said.
“Susan,” He continued.
“Yes,” she replied.
“Assemble the weapons team.” he said.
“You want the forge?” Susan asked.
Andre thought for a moment. “Yeah, have it staged and ready.”
“Romeo?” Andre said with a smile.
“Kiss my ass,” Jason’s voice said back.
Andre laughed, and said, “Get up to the Volar, and hide her at Seca Secunde like we talked about.” The SDA commander straightened and pressed the general broadcast tab on his wrist device. “Allright everyone, we’ve practiced, we’ve trained, we’re ready. Hopefully this is nothing, but if the spiders are here, they’re walking into our web.”

Alr y'all so here an update on how I'm doing I know I only posted 5 hrs ago but I have the feeling on the need to let y'all know how I'm dealing with the whole situation not that its really important or anything but ifykyk. So I forgot to mention that I'm a female and he's a male I would give ages but I'm not confortable with that so I went and watched the chior vid just to see if I could find him and I spotted him right away I js couldn't spot when he moved away from me. I watched the whole hr and 33min of it over and over again js to see him and I started crying like for sum unknown reason like I bearly knew him. Brown LHC-X #225. Carbon plate white marvel handles, stonewashed CPM-154 blade, brown knives double row bearings. Knife appears to be in like new condition. No standout wear that I can see and doesn’t look to have been sharpened. Solid lockup. Centering favors show side by a hair. Very smooth action. With the design of the flipper tab and detent it feels like more of a push open for me. With that I noticed a touch of detent play. Not bad at all though and overall a very fidget friendly knife as you’d expect from brown. Comes with hard case and COA.

Up for grabs is a maverick concepts prism v2 integral with nichols armor core slither Damascus, zirc accents and zircuti/black Timascus clip. So a little detail me n my best friend is that we met when we were in gr10. Both transferred to a public highschool because of covid and now we're both in firsts year college. I liked him when we were in gr11 we both went to the same school. He had a girlfriend during that time so I forced myself to stop liking him and continue being a good friend since it wasn't that deep. Everytime he will have a relationship I will make a boundary so that the person he's with will not be uncomfortable about the fact that he have a gbf. So long story short we're now in college we don't go to same university but we're still in contact and go to coffee date sometimes and he's single now btw. So why did I think that we both liked eo? A few months go by since college started he's now part of a college circle he's now friends were my classmates in elem and is acquainted with my sister. My sister and some of the girls in that college circle went out drinking (no minors) and my sister mention about him and me being bestfriend and so on. And then suddenly one girl in that college circle said that he had a huge crush on someone name "k..st..na" she said to my sister that he keep on talking about her how cute this person is. So my sister being a snitch told me all of these. And this is why I assumed that I was the girl he was talking about because that is my first name and he is the only one who calls me that outside my family because I hate that name I prefer being called by my second name. when my sister told me about this I was like no way he wouldn't like me that way and to prove it I went to his fb friends list and searched for that name because for sure I'm not the only one with that name but to my shock I am the only one in his friends list who have that name and mind you he only have 500 friends in fb.
Btw the reason why I liked him is because I always receive princess treatment from him. His love language are all the love language except for physical touch we both hate it.
