2024.05.18 15:36 wydmorpheus Failed to remove DRM

Hello everyone i'm new to calibre, i bought a book that i was able to open on adobe digital editions only, i followed all these steps from user jumpbug_be, i have the DeDRM 10.0.3 version for the plugins and the latest calibre version, I tried on mac and windows yet when i get to the last step it says that the file is still protected or a fail message, any ideas on why that is?
"Customize the plugin (Preferences -> Plugins > File Types > DeDRM) and click on the button called Adobe Digital Edition
  1. Make sure your ADE key is there in the list. If not, click on the green + button to automatically add it from your ADE installation
  2. Save changes and restart Calibre
  3. Import the protected ePub into Calibre. During the import process, the protection will be removed
  4. Now you can export the unprotected ePub from Calibre to your computer. The resulting ePub file can now be opened in Books or any (e)Reader"
edit: nevermind i figured it out by adding the DeDRM 10.0.9 version

2024.05.15 03:08 vsv38 Calibre and DeDRM plugin. Cannot find Adobekey.py

I'm trying to use this plugin for the first time. FYI, I'm using the latest version of Calibre 7.10, and DeDRM 10.0.3. Can someone please explain what this Adobekey.py is that's needed? How do I retrieve it from Adobe Digital Editions? There's no option with this plugin to log on to ADE. You can do that with DeACSM plugin.
I'm unable to remove DRM from an ebook I bought (epub). The debug log says:
DeDRM v10.0.3: Looking for new default Adobe Digital Editions Keys after 0.1 seconds DeDRM v10.0.3: Exception when getting default Adobe Key after 0.1 seconds Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\Net\Desktop\Calibre Portable\Calibre Settings\plugins\DeDRM.zip\adobekey.py", line 343, in adeptkeys FileNotFoundError: [WinError 2] The system cannot find the file specified.
Thanks!

2024.04.30 00:23 BillieOfTheBirch Upload ACSM files through Calibre-Web

Okay, so I've got my Calibre server all set up and have the DeACSM and DeDRM plugins running and working great. The last bit of convenience I would like to add is to be able to upload the ACSM files directly through Calibre-Web like you can with ebook files.
Right now I have to add the ACSM files to Calibre from my host computer, which is fine most of the time. But it would be really wonderful to have the option to add them from my phone or another computer when I am not home.
Has anyone found a way to make this possible? I've searched around and found this one post but thats a bit over my head.

2024.04.24 06:16 Hopeful_Exchange_518 Serial Number on a Kindle I returned

Hey guys! I started using calibre & successfully transferred a book I bought from Amazon (Kindle) to Kobo. I returned my Kindle the other day because I really wanted the new Kobo colour. This is where I discovered the discrepancies between the two competitors... I couldn't find the book I wanted in Kobo, but it was available on Kindle.
Upon using Calibre... I had issues converting a book I purchased even with the DeDRM plugin. Did some reddit research and found that I needed the serial number from the Kindle I previously had in order to remove the DRM.
I registered the serial number (from the Kindle I returned) onto the DRM plugin on Calibre...
Would this cause any potential issues to the new user? Planning to deregister the device in case it would...
Hope this makes sense! Idk what to do.
Thank you in advance for any help!

2024.04.16 22:14 blahboybaz I'm struggling to just get a kindle ebook saved locally and dedrm'ed - can anyone help?

I 've never had to deal with this before and - stupidly - assumed that Amazon would just give me a way to download the book to my computer and keep it locally. If they do I can't figure out where / how that happens.
I heard about DeDRM / NoDRM and read some spots in: https://www.reddit.com/Calibre/comments/v3uj37/is_calibres_dedrm_not_working_anymore/ but have so far not seen simple step by step instructions on how to accomplish my goal (get the book saved locally and use Calibre to keep it and read it). I think frustration has gotten the better of me and I may not be operating optimally to accomplish my objective. I've spent several hours over the last couple days but a lot of the infos I see do not fit my unique situation (linux, on a loptop, inexperience). I may have already installed DeDRM (if I did it right) but can't find how to access / launch the plugin in Calibre. I just want the book to be PDF in Calibre on my laptop. Can someone please walk me through how to do this?
PS: I did see and read the readme in the plugin's downloaded zip folder but that hasn't helped.

2024.03.29 13:33 venexiano Removing DRM from chapter of a ebook downloaded from the university library for personal use

I downloaded a long chapter from an ebook (i.e. I downloaded the acsm file). I imported it in Adobe digital. I found the location of pdf and loaded it in Calibre (I have installed the deDRM and KFX input plugins). I save the pdf on a folder but it gives me this error (scroll down for details). This used to work 1-2 years ago. I tried yesterday and nothing. Today I updated Calibre and reinstalled extensions but nothing. This is for personal use, no intention to share it with others.

2024.02.29 21:56 Majawat Cannot open library. Not enough space on disk. .caltrash. Even after freeing space

I had an event on the computer where Calibre is installed where I ran out of space on the drive where the books are stored. I got that all cleared up (6TB free now), but I can't get Calibre to open the library.
I have no idea how to fix this, so any help would be appreciated.
Here's the full error:
calibre, version 7.3.0 ERROR: Unhandled exception: OSError:[WinError 112] There is not enough space on the disk: 'H:\\Multimedia\\Books\\.caltrash' calibre 7.3 embedded-python: True Windows-10-10.0.19045-SP0 Windows ('64bit', 'WindowsPE') ('Windows', '10', '10.0.19045') Python 3.11.5 Windows: ('10', '10.0.19045', 'SP0', 'Multiprocessor Free') Interface language: None Successfully initialized third party plugins: DeDRM (7, 1, 0) && Find Duplicates (1, 10, 8) && Goodreads (1, 7, 9) && Quality Check (1, 13, 6) Traceback (most recent call last): File "calibre\gui2\__init__.py", line 749, in dispatch File "calibre\gui2\actions\choose_library.py", line 742, in switch_requested File "calibre\gui2\ui.py", line 934, in library_moved File "calibre\db\legacy.py", line 195, in __init__ File "calibre\db\legacy.py", line 50, in create_backend File "calibre\db\backend.py", line 508, in __init__ File "calibre\db\backend.py", line 2125, in ensure_trash_dir OSError: [WinError 112] There is not enough space on the disk: 'H:\\Multimedia\\Books\\.caltrash'
Closest I could find by googling would be to go into Remove Books > Restore recently deleted > and then clear the 'recycle' bin. However, I can't do that as I can't open the library. I'm not even sure that'll fix it, given the results I found.
In the .caltrash folder, there's two folders, 'b' and 'f', but those folders are empty.

2024.02.27 17:10 CrayonLunch Unable to convert from AZ3W to Epub

EDIT: Thank you all for the help, I have changed up how I am going about this, and have it all sorted out now.

EDIT: Title should read AZW3... Sorry there
My son and I have been a Kindle Fire family for years. We both got new tablets when we got new phones, so I wanted to switch from the Fires to them.
I have Calibre, been using it for years, and I installed the DeDRM plugin, and added the serial numbers of our kindles to it. (Got the serials from the Device section of our amazon account)
I plug in my sons kindle, tell it to add the books to our Library after it finishes scanning. Calibre adds them in, but when I test convert them to Epub, it says it can't because they are DRMed. From what I had read the DeDRM plugin should run automatically when importing.
I assumed that maybe it will only do one book at a time, so I removed the books from the Library, and imported one at a time.... Same issue.
Thinking maybe this would be okay, I then went and added them to my sons tablet, and was unable to see them in either Aldiko, Moon Reader, or ReadEra.
Anyone able to sort out what I did wrong here? I can provide more info if needed
ETA: I also grabbed a few of them from the amazon site with the Download and transfer via USB method. Same problem.

2024.02.25 10:37 sewing-enby Can I use BorrowBox?

I am very used to using Adobe digital editions and calibre to sideload books onto my kobo. All legitimately bought, just through humble bundle/publisher's own website etc., which has needed me to use the deDRM plugin so that I can move books between devices (all only for my own personal use, never shared with anyone else).
My library moved from overdrive to borrowbox a few years ago. I think I'd have to use ADE and calibre to put the books I've borrowed onto my kobo...but I'm worried the process might strip the book of the renting software or whatever it is that allows the books to disappear after a set amount of time. I don't want to steal books from my library....how do I borrow books?

2024.02.16 08:44 zmillah DeDRM Kindle book question.

I hope this is the right place to ask. I am a new Kobo owner and I wanted to get a book that I had bought from Amazon over to my Kobo (and I don´t own a Kindle) . I have tried to read up on how to do it. Getting Calibre and installing KFX and DeDRM plugins. I am using an older version of Kindle PC and tried to download the book from there, but I get the message that I have to update the program to download the book. I would be really happy and appreciate it if anyone could enlighten me on how to solve this problem.
Edit: Solved! I did not find Kindle for PC version 2.3.1 as advised, so I tried version 2.2.7. And that worked. I went to my library at Amazon and chose to send it to my PC. Thanks a bunch! I had a hard time finding the right information.

2024.02.13 15:24 PieceConfident7733 DeDRM not showing up in plugins window and no possibility to add it manually?

Hello, so I'm trying to convert my epub into a PDF and seek to get rid of DRM, however it doesn't appear anywhere in the list.
I've downloaded the plugin but I don't know how to apply it, the plugin window just doesn't offer me the possibility to open anything.
I'm running it on Mac OS 10.14 (Mojave) by the way.
Any other ways to get through the DRM? I'm much new to the whole thing.
EDIT: turns out there are 2 preferences panels to fiddle with plugin parameters, the one which I've used only allowing to scour an existing list of plugin, and the other I somehow hadn't seen. Problem solved!

calibre, version 7.3.0
ERROR: Conversión fallida: Error al convertir: The History of the Peloponnesian War
2024.01.30 19:59 DellyTrayDownUnda Can't Open ADE file to then import into Calibre

Hey all.
I just bought the Humble Bundle Discworld set. The books are on Kobo, so I can download an ACSM of each of them, and I was assuming that I would be able to import them into Calibre with the DeDRM plugin that I've used in the past and then export as an EPUB.
However, it doesn't seem like I can open the book even in ADE because every time I do, I get the error "E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER." There are very few solutions to this error online, and none of them have worked for me. I've re-authroized ADE, no change. It seems there is some sort of disconnect between downloading the file form Kobo and attempting to open it in ADE or Calibre. Any help is appreacited.

2024.01.16 19:48 GIR385 Manga has blank page between each page (No conversion)

I bought some Manga from Kobo, downloaded it and removed the Adobe DRM using Calibre and the DeDRM plugin. Adobe downloaded it as an ePub, so converting the file wasn't necessary, I just imported it into Calibre and the DRM was removed.
When I view the manga in any ereader software a blank page appears between each page. This also occurs on my Kindle once transferred with Calibre, though it notably does not happen when using Adobe Digital Editions.
After looking online it appears this could be due to the size of the images, the software may believe the image is large enough that it needs to display more of the image on the next page, and because there is no more image to display it simply shows a blank page. Is there a way to fix this? Preferably a way to just format it for my Kindle?
If it helps, when reading in Aquile (eReader software for windows) there is a counter at the bottom showing each page is 1/2 or 2/2, implying that the blank page and the actual page are just the same page being shown twice.
