2024.05.14 13:57 CrispyCouchPotato1 An in-depth analysis of the Scorpio-N zero star in ANCAP.

(Yes, I am absolutely copying my own comment from another thread, but I feel it needs to be clarified since nobody else seems to have done it.)
Here's the detailed report from ANCAP: https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn.ancap.com.au/app/public/assets/9462cb0d3fa24cd81ee75871ed79e3bbc772a86a/original.pdf?1702513810
Detailed breakdown:
44% in adult protection, 80% in child protection.
Adult protection: Here, the dummy test data actually proved fine. It scored excellent on driver and passenger protection. Stats below:
Section Driver side Passenger side
Head / Neck 4 4
Chest 3.91 4
Upper Legs 4 4
Lower Legs 2.76 4
Deductions None None
However, 8 points were subtracted from the score because ANCAP also takes into consideration the impact on the barrier itself, (check section 3.3) and there it was deemed that the damage to the barrier was higher than expected.
So to summarise it didn't score less because the occupants got impacted. It got a negative penalty because the impact on the oncoming vehicle would've been high. This indicates that the cars structure worked perfectly as designed for its own occupants.
Finally, the real reason why it got a zero:
"Vehicles that show a poor performance in one of the boxes will have their star rating restricted to show that they do not provide good all-round protection."
Source: https://www.ancap.com.au/publications/ancap-assessment-protocol-overall-rating-v9-1-1.pdf
(Overall rating, section 2.1)
Unfortunately the Scorpio-N has NO ADAS features.
ANCAP has "Safety Assist" as one of the criteria in the rating. So the zero rating was because of the above technicality.
Feel free to go through the detailed report, and see for yourself that the structural rating is pretty solid.

2024.05.14 13:54 zeldadinosaur1110 tʷink Grammar Part 2

Good evening, readers. I apologise for the longer-than-expected delay and general inactivity between the publishing of this essay and my last one. I hope that you are not bothered by it, because I cannot promise to increase the frequency of my essays.
With that out of the way, let us proceed to talk about tʷink grammar. If you haven’t already, please read my previous two essays about tʷink phonology and syntax. Those will give you a lot of context as to what the tʷink language is. If you choose to read this without reading the previous essays, please be prepared to be very confused as I will assume that you will have read my two previous essays.

Nouns

tʷink nouns are relatively simple, especially compared to the rest of the grammar, because they do not get declined for anything other than the obligatory classifiers demonstrated in the table below:
Noun Pronoun
Human qʷa- wa-
Object ʔiws- ʔih-
Idea dam/n- da-
To see an example of the classifiers being used, read the sentence below:
muʔwaʔ siɣ
go-CLF.HMN-1P many
We are going.

Notes

•The declensions in the second column are only used for pronouns

Verbs

In comparison, tʷink verbs are far more complex, as evidenced by the fact that they decline for person, number and tense. They are so complex that you could make entire sentences using just a single word. To see the charts for person, number and tense, see below:
1st Person 2nd Person 3rd Person
Nominative -t(a) -(h)an -aht/ħat
Accusative -tix -(h)anix -aħtix/ħatix
Perfective Imperfective
Past -ginʔ -(h)inʔ
Present -g(a) -
Future -gakah -kah

Notes

•Some verbs are irregular and do not follow these prescribed patterns, such as the verb muʔ, meaning to go

Ending Message

This essay only covers the basics of tʷink grammar, and there are still more details I have yet to talk about. If you have any questions or constructive criticism, feel free to tell me. Otherwise, I hope that any supernatural beings between now and the next time to care for you.

2024.05.14 13:46 n00bpotato Bought my first ever car!

Bought my first ever car!
Just wanted to show you all my 09 370z.
The guy I bought it from has built the car up with a huge CSF radiator, 2 k&n air intakes, race clutch assembly from z1 concepts, race brakes, full exhaust system with valvetronic,TE37 wheels and stage 2 ecu.
It apparently has 410+ bhp but I'll need to take it to the dyno and test /tune it to my liking.
She drinks petrol like it comes for free 😂
Gives me 11.3 mpg on average without a heavy foot 🥲

2024.05.14 13:32 ThrowRA_PecanToucan Boomer decides she knows better than a paediatric nurse

TL:DR at the bottom. On mobile, this isn't in the US before anyone comes in with "bUt iN 'mUrIcA...". I do not give consent for this to be published, reused, referenced or linked to by any other person, entity, corporation or anything else.
I was flying for work today, ended up getting through security screening and having lunch faster than I'd expected, so I had a few hours before boarding. Settled in a comfy chair, noise cancelling headphones in, Netflix on my phone, all was set to chill out and kill some time.
I'd been there about half an hour before even through the ANC headphones I heard a screeching sound and saw a flurry of movement. Wouldn't you know it, the culprit was (of course) a Boomer. Karen haircut, dyed blonde clearly over grey, toothpick arms and legs with that weird fat belly, and a face that would curdle milk while it was still in the cow.
A new mother was flying with her baby interstate (from overhearing the intrusive conversation, 6 weeks but also premature). Baby young enough and I'm guessing had some health issues as a paediatric nurse was taking care of the baby, in uniform, complete with medical bag and bagged containers with milk for the baby. Mother was clearly nervous and watching baby and nurse closely, though the nurse clearly had everything under control. In other words, the very picture of a time and place that you leave people alone and give them space, courtesy and privacy... If you aren't a Boomer at any rate.
Boomer had arrived at the gate, seen the nurse with baby and the mother, made this ungodly screeching and launched herself as fast as her legs would carry her body towards the scene. The nurse skillfully deflected the advance by turning her back and placing the child hidden behind her on the chair, so Boomer launched into an invasive series of questions to the poor mother, delving deep into highly inappropriate/personal questions that the mother clearly didn't want to answer. Meanwhile through this Boomer is tottering on her feet, literally swaying back and forth towards the baby and nurse, which the nurse continued to shield with her body.
After around 10 minutes of this, she finally retreated all of 20 paces to a standing desk/bench nearby, continuing to stare and do the weird swaying/tottering like she was barely containing herself from running back over. She continued to stand there for the next 15 minutes like this, until the nurse had to change the baby... At which point she launched herself back over, screeching again something incomprehensible, and started trying to PUSH the NURSE out of the way!
Having been keeping an eye on the situation, I got up, took the few steps to her and yanked the back of her shirt and pulled her away a few steps with a loud "what in the hell do you think you're doing?!". Cue sputtering and whining/moaning about how the nurse was "doing it wrong" and "only trying to help" and "can't expect a young person to get these things right". I continued walking her away from the baby/nurse/mother a few more steps before security was on the scene taking over, taking the boomer by the flabby arms and marching her off. Boomer continued to screech and carry on, trying to pull away and back to the baby.
Mother looked terrified, nurse was clearly unsettled but handling everything well (serious amounts of respect to her, if she reads this: well done. You're an absolute legend). A third security guard came up and asked me to take a seat for a moment, checked on the mothenurse/baby, before the other two returned having handed the crazy boomer off to federal police a few gates away. Drinks (I'm assuming coffee/tea by the cups) were brought for the mothenurse, one security guard asking me what had happened which I relayed while I'm guessing the same was done for the nurse/mother. Sat for a bit before the security guards helped them move elsewhere (a lounge maybe? Private room?) and federal police arrived to take a statement from me and collect crazy boomers bag. Even the cops looked weirded out by the whole situation, with lots of shaking of the head and WTF faces.
All in all, everything was sorted out reasonably quickly considering, and only had another half hour to wait before catching my flight. The troubling part is that other than it being in an airport and there being a nurse involved? Boomers do this crap all the time! They see a baby and suddenly they have to interject themselves, with zero consideration for whether their comments and questions are appropriate, act incredibly entitled, take zero interest in whether the parent is uncomfortable, and generally act as though because there is a baby they have free pass to be complete d###s.

2024.05.14 13:24 gamerwolf123 I achieved 1600(and more) channels for Action Relays by sending digital signals

I achieved 1600(and more) channels for Action Relays by sending digital signals
TL;DR: I can send multiple different signals through 1 channel. The gifs show how this looks with 4 bits / 16 signals
I was looking forward to a (non script) way to send signals between Grids, since I started playing the game 5 years ago. With yesterdays update it FINALLY arrived! However, it only provides 100 channels. Which is most certainly a reasonable amount of channels, for a normal ServeFaction/player. But Since I am a greedy player, I wanted more so I can standardize my Channels easier. I don't want to have 5 channels just to open 5 doors, I want a single "Open door channel". So I thought about ways I could reduce my channel usage.
My first Idea was to send data over multiple Relays at the same time. This is a fast way to send data, however you can only send 2n-1 Signals, (n being the amount of channels used) since you can not send an empty (0) signal. So you still have to use multiple channels.
The second Idea is the one I stuck with. Sending a digital signal through the Relay. this looks like this:
https://i.redd.it/x29l55cp9d0d1.gif
As you can (hopefully) see in the very degrading GIF, I sent 4 bit over the one action relay and one channel. I can also send different signals:
sending 1010
The attentive readers may have noticed 3 timer blocks on the right that are kind of not making sense right now. These 3 Timers form a "decoder" structure. This means, they convert a Binary signal to a normal timer block action. This works by checking if the sent data equals the expected Data. in this case the expected data is 1100:
sending 1100
when the correct signal is sent it activates the finals Timer block on the right, using this you can trigger any kind of Vanilla sequence with just a single Channel. and not just 4 bit (or 24=16 signals): this is scalable to infinity.
now the drawback of this system is the time it takes. for every bit you have to add 1 second of delay, with an additional 1 second delay when sending and 2 second delay when decoding. This is in my opinion a fair tradeoff for the immense potential this has. You can not only send data, you can in theory even trigger an automated response.
Now I will explain how this works, but I am not perfect in explaining. If you have any questions feel free to ask, it will take me time to answer though.
HOW IT WORKS:
on the left side you see the sending mechanism. it is made from 3 components: Clock, bits and Reset.
Sender Basic schematic
the "Clock" Timer block starts the timer on all "bit" Timer blocks and the "reset" timer block. It also triggers "send signal" on the Action relay and therefore sends a "start" signal.
then, after the set delays of 2,3,4 and 5 seconds each timer block, that is turned on, triggers the "send Signal" on the relay once. after that the "Reset" Timer stops the countdown for any left timers that were not turned on. (to prevent any problems when setting the bits)
The Receiver side is a bit more complex.
it is made up from a clock, bits, reset and a decoder
receiver basic schematic
At the start the bits are turned off. if The action Relay is triggered it triggers the first "clock" block and tries "trigger now" on all "bits"
if a "start" signal is received, the first "clock" block in the upper left starts the "clock" timers above the "bits". after 1 second delay the first timer turns on the first "bit". after another second the second timer turns off the first "bit" and turns on the second "bit". after another second the 3rd timer turns second "bit" off and the 3rd on. this is continued for every "bit".
now: these timings match with the timings of the sender. when the sender "bits" are triggering the action relay they also trigger all bits on the receiver, but only the bit that is turned on reacts. you can see this in the gifs: every bit turns on one light when triggered.
the decoder is responsible for checking if the correct combination of on/off signals was received. this is done by using the "start/stop timer" and "on/off" option of the Timer block. if you want to react to a 1111 signal, the setup is:
bit 1: Timer 1 start, bit 2: Timer 1 on, bit 3: Timer 2 start, bit 4: Timer 2 start
you set the commands in the "setup action" inside the "bits" timer blocks. Those two timer blocks then use the same principle to trigger the 3rd "decoder" block on the right. however since we also want to use combinations like "1000" we have to invert those signals somehow.
the 10 part is simple. when reset, the first decoder block is turned on. and The 2nd bits command are changed to "Turn off". if there is a signal now (01XX or 11XX) it turns the first "decoder"timer off and it cant use any actions.
the 00 part is where its getting difficult. We need to start the countdown of the 2nd "decoder" timer with the clock at the beginning. The delay has to be long enough for "bits" 3 and 4 to trigger, when a wrong signal is sent (XX10, XX01, XX11). when they trigger bit 3 is going to "Stop" the countdown, while bit 4 is going to turn the block off.
This was a very long post, if you actually read it, I am very grateful. Like I sad, If there are questions please ask them, I will answer even if it takes time.

2024.05.14 13:20 daswef2 [RATE ANNOUNCEMENT] Brazil Rate

Hello, welcome to the Brazilian Classics Rate! This rate covers five albums released between the years 1968 and 1974, exploring the likes of Tropicália, MPB, Samba, and more. We are excited to enjoy this music with both long time fans, and also welcome newcomers to experience these all-time favorites for the first time.
Note: I am not Brazilian and am not a Portuguese writer / speaker. My apologies if anything is lost in translation through this process.
Hold on: What’s a rate?
About once a month, this subreddit holds games called “rates” where a host selects a collection of songs and people score each song on a scale of 1-10 (with a single 11 & a 0 available as well). Ballots of these scores are submitted, and then over “reveal” weekend, the host takes the averages of the songs and eliminates them from worst to best, giving one song out of all the albums the top spot, the crown, & bragging rights forever.
Our sister subreddit popheads has a Guide to Rates Video that can give you a broad overview of rates (please note our reveal process is thread-based instead of video chatrooms). And here's recent examples of a rate announcement and a rate reveal.
BALLOT Due Date - June 21st, 2024
Reveal Weekend - June 28-30, 2024

Os Mutantes - Os Mutantes (1968)
Os Mutantes was made up of Rita Lee, and the brothers Arnaldo Baptista and Sérgio Dias. In 1968 Os Mutantes released their debut album, were featured on the Tropicália Ou Panis Et Circenses compilation, and performed as the backing band for Gilberto Gil's self-titled second album. The Tropicália movement embraced taking international ideas and re-interpreting them, combining them to create something Brazilian. Os Mutantes will likely be a favorite for those who love psychedelic rock.

Clube Da Esquina - Clube Da Esquina (1972)
The Clube Da Esquina name (Corner Club) refers to a corner of the street where Lô Borges used to live, and Borges and Milton Nascimento played for fun in the 1960s.
“I hope our young people don’t allow themselves to be swept up in this dictatorship business, because they don’t understand what it was like,” said [Milton Nascimento] who was stalked by agents from the notorious department of political and social order as his career took off in the 1960s. “Whenever we were going to release a song we had to send it to them for them to censor.” Eventually, Nascimento’s manager rented an isolated beach house where the musicians were free to compose the record of their lives. “It was wonderful … just us and the waves rolling up to our front door,” said Borges. “We weren’t thinking about selling millions of records or being the next big summer hit. We just wanted to make art.” Nascimento smiled as he recalled how that legendary album was conceived half a century ago, far from the prying eyes of the dictatorship. “It was a record made just by friends … We’d spend all day composing, from the moment we awoke with the fishermen bringing in their nets to the moment we went to bed.”
The cover of the album features a picture of two boys playing in rural Rio de Janeiro by the photographer Carlos da Silva Assunção Filho (also known as Cafi).

Novos Baianos - Acabou Chorare (1972)
By popular demand, Novos Baianos has been added to the rate mix! As suggested by their name, Novos Baianos were founded in the state of Bahia in 1969. During the making of Acabou Chorare, they were mentored by the "Father of Bossa Nova", João Gilberto. The album's title (translated as No More Crying) also came from a story about Gilberto's daughter.
Note: the album has two versions of Preta Pretinha, track 2 which is the full version and track 10 which seems to have been a radio edit. We are only rating the full version of the song.
  1. Brasil Pandeiro
  2. Preta Pretinha
  3. Tinindo, Trincando
  4. Swing de Campo Grande

Jorge Ben Jor - A Tábua de Esmeralda (1974)
"I’m not in any movement, no. I think movements adopted me."
Jorge Ben Jor is the first recorded artist of the five here, but A Tábua De Esmeralda is chronologically our latest recorded album of the rate. This one is arguably a concept album; influenced by the Hermetic text "The Emerald Tablet" as well as Jorge's interest in alchemy, and features songs focused on Afro-Brazilian identity such as "Zumbi".

Rules - PLEASE READ ALL OF THESE BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR SCORES
Listen to each song and assign each a score between 1 and 10. Decimals are fine, but please refrain from giving decimal scores with more than 1 spot. This is because I'm using a computer program to parse the votes and print everything out (more on that later).
You have to listen to and score every song in the main rate. Otherwise, I will not accept your ballot as it will crash the program (more on that later).
Your scores should NOT be considered confidential as they aren’t. Feel free to shitpost about them in the general discussion threads whenever you feel like it - users over at popheads usually just talk about their averages of the albums and what 11 and 0 they gave (which I will explain on the next bullet point!)
You may give ONE song a 0 and ONE song an 11 in the main rate. Please reserve these for your least favorite and most favorite tracks; excessive sabotage ruins rate results and generally makes things less fun.
You can change your scores at any time! Feel free to PM me at any point after submission before the deadline and I'll be happy to revise them for you.
I am using a computer program that fellow rater letsallpoo designed in order to parse these votes! While this will make things a lot more efficient and reduces errors on my part, this does mean that scores need to be sent in a very specific way. The easiest way to make sure your scores follow the necessary format is to use the pre-prepared link at the top & bottom of this post. PLEASE USE THAT. Archewell 2024 donation, grant and publicity master thread
I've left this comment on a couple of posts and someone suggested I make a post about it. I'm happy to do so in order to keep it all together in one place. I've even added a couple of new items.
These are results I got in Google after restricting the search from January 1, 2024 - May 10, 2024. According to the Daily Mail, "Records show it was declared delinquent in January for not filing its annual registration renewal fee reports or renewal fee since February 2023". [Archive link - https://archive.is/wgrzc] This would mean any publicity or donations / grants that were announced would have happened AFTER it was declared delinquent.
I did not even go into activities from Feb - Dec of 2023. The following items are just since Jan 2024. (Meaning the new 'check is in the mail' cover story is as legitimate as their foundation. [Archive link - https://archive.is/wip/fjOM8]) They are not necessarily in chronological order.

The Archewell / NAACP award for $100K was announced in March 2024:
"Prince Harry and Megan's [sic] Archewell Foundation has announced the new winner of an annual award meant for figures who have overcome racist and sexist biases in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
Each year, the winner of The NAACP - Archewell Foundation Digital Civil Rights Award is awarded $100,000 to advance their work in civil and human rights."

Question: Did Archewell give the $100K themselves?

In March it was also reported that Archewell had been funding a San Antonio Afghan refugee women's charity "since last July".
"San Antonio is one of the foundation’s 11 active Welcome Projects across the U.S." [Archewell archive link - https://archive.is/JWErN]

Also from March 7, 2024 in Vanity Fair [Archive link - https://archive.is/7A8bS]:
"On Thursday, the Duchess of Sussex and the nonprofit Moms First are announcing the results of a study on television moms with the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media...
...The duchess is teaming up with actor Geena Davis and Moms First, a longtime charity partner of the Archewell Foundation, to raise awareness about the ways television depicts characters who are mothers, backed up by data gathered from programming across 2022."

April 2024: "African-American art earned a royal endorsement when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — hosted “An Evening of Art” on Thursday, March 21, honoring The Kinsey African American Art and History Collection at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California, where the exhibit debuted during Super Bowl LVI 2022. Last month’s event was the result of a partnership between the Sussexes’ Archewell Foundation and The Bernard and Shirley Kinsey Foundation for Art and Education." May 10, 2024 announcement:
"What a joy to welcome to Nigeria our dear partners Prince Harry & Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and their Archewell Foundation team to celebrate our new partnership to provide mental and menstrual health workshops to teens and youth on an ongoing basis!!"

As for publicity / PR in this timeframe (not including additional tie-ins with Invictus, Sentebale and BetterUp-related events), I found the following...

The Daily Express reported the following on January 14, 2024 regarding Harry being named a "Legend of Aviation":
"The Archewell Foundation, founded by The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, says it is 'categorically untrue' that any money exchanged hands concerning the 'Living Legends of Aviation' title."
https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1855510/prince-harry-publicity-stunt-living-legend-aviation [Archive link - https://archive.is/bGxVa]

Archewell sought publicity in February by announcing:
"Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Archewell Foundation honored Black History Month with a group outing.
A new post on the Archewell Foundation website marked Black History, sharing that the team visited a photo exhibit chronicling the Civil Rights movement in Los Angeles."
February 27, 2024: https://malaysia.news.yahoo.com/meghan-markle-prince-harrys-archewell-163043509.html [Archive link - https://archive.is/rrHHZ]

Archewell was also name-dropped on April 2, 2024 when Meghan made an appearance to read at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles as part of the "Make March Matter Campaign", but I cannot find anything that mentions an Archewell donation or grant.
https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/meghan-markle-reads-to-patients-at-childrens-hospital-los-angeles/ [Archive link - https://archive.is/wip/0FG27]

Then on April 12, 2024 the Daily Mail reported:
"The Duke of Sussex is thought to be working with his PR advisers at Archewell to do all he can to manage photographs and videos from his public appearances - with any output being edited by Archewell or event organisers before being released."
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13300557/Prince-Harry-royal-experts-Archewell-Netflix-Meghan-Markle.html [Archive link - https://archive.is/GmilF]

New addition from the Archewell website [Archive link - https://archive.is/2kNu1]:
"On International Women’s Day, The Archewell Foundation co-hosted a keynote panel “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen” at South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas.
Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, and Co-founder of The Archewell Foundation, spoke at the festival’s keynote panel alongside fellow female visionary leaders Katie Couric, Brooke Shields, and Nancy Wang Yuen in a conversation moderated by The 19th’s Errin Haines."
"This session is presented by The Archewell Foundation and The 19th, the national nonprofit newsroom reporting on gender, politics and policy."
March 8, 2024: https://schedule.sxsw.com/2024/events/PP1145814 [Archive link - https://archive.is/4WMsU]

New addition from Mayhew Animal Home:
"In an event hosted at animal welfare charity Mayhew in North West London, family and friends of the late dog behaviourist and trainer, Oli Juste, as well as celebrities and Mayhew supporters gathered to unveil the Oli Juste Wing; refurbished kennels providing warmth, safety and shelter for the dogs that come into Mayhew’s care.
The wing was made possible by a generous donation from Mayhew’s former Patron and Oli’s dear friend, Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex. Oli first introduced The Duchess to Mayhew in 2019. They shared many things throughout their friendship, among which was a deep commitment to animal welfare and a love of rescue dogs. When he tragically passed in January 2022, The Duchess, through The Archewell Foundation, made a contribution to Mayhew in Oli’s honour to continue his legacy. The donation has also enabled the charity to make significant improvements to their dog run and garden which provide an enriching experience for rescued dogs while they are waiting to be rehomed.
The Duchess delivered a personal video message in Oli’s memory, and in support of Mayhew, which was shown at the event."

Posted to Archewell [Archive link - https://archive.is/wMsaM] on February 21, 2024.

Also consider the following dates in the above 2024 timeline.
Charles and Catherine's hospital stays and surgeries were announced on January 17th, 2024.
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-68009259 [Archive link - https://archive.is/1U7rK]
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-68010563 [Archive link - https://archive.is/t5sZr]
Catherine's cancer announcement was March 22nd, 2024.
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-68641441 [Archive link - https://archive.is/yaf5K]

I'm sure there is more that I've missed so please feel free to add in the comments. I will try to keep this updated with any new information as I can.
Needless to say, for a foundation that has failed to file its reports and pay its renewal fee dating back to February 2023, they have certainly found the time in 2024 to seek publicity, put out public relations announcements, and solicit / spend.

How to put a qemu vm in background, early in the bootloader and hidden between the FreeBSD processes.
Hello.
I would like to put the qemu / debian vm that I've created in the background early in the FreeBSD bootloader process and forget it,but I'm having some troubles. The Debian 12 vm that I need should only run a little script. It doesn't even need to run xorg and one desktop environment. This is the script that it should run as soon as the user "marietto" reached the prompt and it has automatically authenticated :
function jumpto { label=$1
cmd=$(sed -n "/$label:/{:a;n;p;ba};" $0 grep -v ':$')
eval "$cmd"
exit }
start=${1:-"start"}
jumpto $start
start:
warp-cli disconnect
OLD_IP="$(curl -s api.ipify.org)"
sudo iptables -A POSTROUTING -t nat -s 192.168.1.5 -j
MASQUERADE
warp-cli connect
NEW_IP="$(curl -s api.ipify.org)"
echo Connected to Cloudflare Warp...echo OLD IP is $OLD_IP ,
NEW IP is $NEW_IP
mid :
if [ "$OLD_IP = $NEW_IP ]
then
echo OLD IP is $OLD_IP , NEW IP is $NEW_IP : it does not work
anymore,reconnecting...
sleep 10
jump foo
else
echo OLD IP is $OLD_IP , NEW IP is $NEW_IP : it still works.
sleep 10
fi
jumpto mid
foo:
warp-cli disconnect
OLD_IP="$(curl -s api.ipify.org)"
warp-cli connect
NEW_IP="$(curl -s api.ipify.org)"echo OLD IP is $OLD_IP ,
NEW IP is $NEW_IP : it works again.
jumpto mid
I tried in several ways to put the vm in background or better...to hide it between the processes, but every method used failed. So,please, advice.
This is what I tried :

2024.05.14 12:20 dojo_sensei Free Tech Tools and Resources - Azure/365 Doc Links, Diagram Editor, Printer Scanning & More

Just sharing a few free tools, resources etc. that might make your tech life a little easier. I have no known association with any of these unless stated otherwise.
But first, in the latest Security Swarm Podcast: "A Breakdown of CSRB’s Findings on Microsoft Storm-0558 Breach (PART 2),” is a continuation from last week’s episode where we discussed the CSRB’s findings on Microsoft’s Storm-0558 Breach. This week, we continue picking apart the findings and providing insights.
We're looking for your favorite tips and tools we can share with the community... those that help you do your job better and more easily. Please share your suggestions on the IT Pro Tuesday subreddit, and we'll be featuring them in the coming weeks.
Now on to this week's list!
A Free Tool
Centro 365 is a browser extension that makes it easier to find the info you need on Microsoft Azure and 365. Dintid explains, "My work consists 95% working in the 365 suite—in all of the sections. And being a small IT staff in a non-profit, it’s hard to keep up with the weekly changes MS are doing to naming and placement of stuff. Leads to my useful tool on a daily basis, an extension for my browser, which basically is just a drop down with the different sections and subsections. Clicking it and you go to the right url for it."
Another Free Tool
Mermaid is an online flowchart and diagrams editor that was designed to keep tech documentation current. TheRaido explains, "For documentation with diagrams, I tend to use Mermaid, which can be used in Markdown in VS Code and is also supported by Obsidian.md."
A Tip
A favorite Windows command for jonathanjohnson0724:
will list the IP and MAC addresses of almost everything in the local subnet (192.168.0.[1-254]), including most things that don’t respond to ping. Not as fancy as Angry IP Scanner, but it’s on every Windows system; so quick and easy to use.
Yet Another Free Tool
WizTree helps you quickly find the files and folders using the most disk space on your hard drive. Rather than searching the drive and checking each file to determine size, WizTree gets its information straight from the NTFS Master File Table—which means it happens almost instantaneously. evilkasper finds it does the same thing as WinDirStat, but much faster.
One More Free Tool
Page Countster is a small, portable application for reporting on network printers. Provides a super fast, easy way to access info and interact with all the connected printers. tkecherson says, "For printers, I prefer an old freeware utility, Page Countster. Automatically picks up just the printers and a host of other info about them in an incredibly lightweight utility."

2024.05.14 11:48 Frog_Shaped Top Surgery Process Journal

The EXTREMELY detailed, mega-anxiety edition!!! Major events like consult and surgery day are labeled like this:
——— EVENT TITLE ———
Surgeon was Dr. David Whitehead and I saw him on Long Island (New Hyde)
Summarized list of major dates:
Consult: July 19 2023 Mental health letter acquired: August 9 Dates discussed: September 12 Pre-op appointment: December 18 Surgery day: January 8 2024 Post-op: January 17
November 11th 2022: Emailed northwell health for the first time, they emailed back saying to call. I was too anxious so I avoided it for a few months.
Called northwell a few months later but got too anxious talking to the person who picked up. They were being normal and talking normally, it was just personal anxiety on my part.
October 2022 - Early March 2023: Spent time talking to trans friends and family members about their timelines and processes for top surgery.
Looked into Penn medicine for a bit but wasn’t happy with the surgeons there, specifically as a nonbinary person. The patient navigational team however is lovely.
March 2: emailed Penn health patient navigation
March 3-10: correspondence and phone calls w patient navigation (absolutely wonderful people, some of the easiest phone calls I’ve ever had) Got lots of into on surgeons, things I’d need, processes etc.
Date unknown: phone call to Penn medicine asking about surgeons and possibly setting up as a patient (v long wait time on phone) Surgeon I had heard good things about only works w CHOP program and I’m was too old for that program. Other surgeons I was v iffy on.
March 23rd: Back to square 1. Called northwell again to set up an appointment. Everyone I spoke to was really nice. Could have set up an appointment within the week but decided to wait till the end of the semester. Scheduled a trans care and primary care appointment for May
Couple of calls In between for confirmations. Trans care appointment got moved around a bit and ended up being moved to a phone call.
May 8th: Trans care call: Basic preliminary questions like: Emergency contact, what you’re looking for, are you thinking of looking into hormones, experience w dysphoria or dysmorphia, mental health, and eating/nutritional concerns, things you might want doc to know, piercings or tattoos, do you do any drugs or drink often, etc. total call time was about 20 minutes. Doctor was incredibly kind, I still experienced a good deal of anxiety but the call was super easy, welcoming, and friendly. Got sent contact referrals for the surgeons, as well as trans-friendly therapists under my insurance.
May 9th: started looking at list of therapists and making respective emails and calls. Checking per session costs and double checking insurance. Most charge 100-150 per session. Got in contact w one.
May 10th: Called w first therapist talking about what I’m looking for, where I am in this process, if parents are supportive, and talking about costs. She was very friendly and affirming, wants to have a few sessions to get to know me and my situation before writing a letter. Understandable and expected, but frustrating.
May 15th: Primary care appointment: Went to northwell health primary care, parkinglot was a little scary (just a large lot with a lot of cars) but everyone working there’s is super kind. Office is incredibly affirming, pride flags and lgbtq+ art everywhere. Gave my insurance card, filled out some paper work, got called in pretty quickly. I have a needle phobia and medical trauma so I was panicking a bit in the office, nurse was good w me about it and doctor was very kind, I just requested to not have any blood work done that day and that was totally fine, so I could schedule that at a later date and go w a friend. Recommended to get blood work done before scheduling a consult w a surgeon. Also prescribed me a single dose anxiety med for the bloodwork which I was very happy about. I found over time that the anxiety meds unfortunately do little to nothing for my panic attacks personally when it comes to needles but regardless having a doctor acknowledge and respect that fear and listen to me was incredibly helpful and reassuring.
May 30th: Got blood work done in a different lab, went w a friend. Scheduling for that is super easy, I think I did it online actually I don’t entirely recall. they do take walk ins but I made an appointment to minimize complications and make sure I could prepare properly. Front desk/lobby area was a little spooky, but I think that is mainly just bc of my social anxiety. They take a urine sample, you give them your prescription, eventually they call you over for blood work. Quick and easy, tech was v nice and having a friend with me was incredibly helpful. Probably the best I’ve ever done with a needle despite the fact that I did still panic and get very lightheaded lol.
Got blood work results back within the next couple days, all looks a-okay! Neat :)
June 15th This day was incredibly difficult. I had my first session with a therapist to establish some ground knowledge around my dysphoria and the way that I view myself. Top surgery is something that I know from research and related experience Can be difficult and expensive to get and can take time, so much of my prep work has been on the understanding of taking things a step at a time and just knowing that the current way things are doesn’t have to be forever. It allowed me to be able to live with myself while prioritizing my health better. This read to the therapist as “not having the level of dysphoria [she’s] come to expect and look for in someone who is trans” and was largely based off the fact that I don’t want to go on hrt. Past that point I started to break down because now my method of learning to live with myself felt like it was actively going to work against me and prevent me from getting top surgery. I’m not good at talking about my dysphoria, I can’t imagine it’s easy for anyone, especially to a stranger I just met. It was rough, and I felt incredibly mentally drained after ending the session.
June 19th Called it quits with the first therapist, I felt incredibly disrespected and the one session we had put me in a mental spiral for days. It can feel some times in this process like the people you have to get permission from need you to be severely depressed and unable to wait another second for this procedure just in order to take you seriously.
After I left that therapist, I immediately got back to the list to find someone new. Spoke to a new therapist via email, but my insurance is kinda weird (Blue Cross Blue Shield out of state) so its off putting to some people. This therapist recommended I go through the office she started out at (Heart and Soul Counseling)
————- Time Skip ——————
IM BACK its time for some record keeping. Got super overwhelmed and lost the energy to document my process for some time so here goes.
HEART AND SOUL COUNSELING: My experience w/ this therapy office was mostly good. The person in charge, Jesse, was absolutely lovely and responsive. Never spoke in person, but any text/email interaction was prompt, respectful, and kind. The office is stellar with email/text communication, so I only ever had to call them once when I was initially inquiring about the office. This is something I wish all therapy/counseling centers did better, eliminated a ton of my anxiety and hesitation to speak to therapists.
I got set up w someone as quickly as possible and established what my goal was (to acquire letter document for my surgery team). I attended multiple session w the therapist, she was a kind lady but the sessions were unfortunately p miserable for me. We didn’t fit well, but I was willing to stick it out rather than backtrack on my process. She also did not invalidate me or accuse me of not being trans which was a major step up from my first therapy experience. Once I acquired my letter I did stop therapy there, I kindly explained to the therapist that it wasn’t a good match, but I may honestly explore my options at the office in the future. Receptionist there was also lovely and they had a cool fish tank.
———- CONSULT STARTS HERE —————
July 19th: CONSULT!!! My mama and I went to Dr. David Whiteheads office for a consult. Parking was a nightmare so I’m super glad I didn’t have to drive for this one (ty mama). Consult went really well, and the staff were all super friendly. Dr. Whitehead is cool, very chill energy and a bit intimidating, but I’m scared of everyone so that’s nothing new. First question he asked me is what I wanted/what he could do for me which caught me more off guard than it should have? I didn’t realize going into this process how many times people ask you what you’re having done even if it’s already written down, because there’s so much variety in what you can look for in the results.
We talked about the procedure, went through a slideshow n stuff, and discussed how I wanted a flat chest w/ no nipple preservation. They made sure to specify that my mental health professional letter had to include that I did not want nipple preservation because thats technically a “non-standard” appearance. Also had the first breast exam I’ve ever had in my life. Can’t say i’m a fan (not that I need to worry about that anymore!) Took pictures n measurements n such, and also discussed recovery supplies and care w me and my mom.
August 9th: After a plethora of painfully awkward therapy sessions, a decent amount of crying, and a couple breakdowns in friends cars/backyards, I got my therapist letter and sent it to the surgeons office. It ended up needing minor revisions to which I contacted Jesse from Heart and Soul and he got me the revised letter immediately. Unfortunately the surgical coordinator was out of office for the rest of the month the next day ;w;. Is how it be.
September 12th: Got a call from Surgical coordinator mid-painting class that I stepped out to take. Started discussing surgical dates!! She was kind enough to email the dates to me which was lovely because I was absolutely shaking/mind blank haha. There was an option for January 8th which felt like an absolute miracle the way it would work with my school schedule. It would give me a solid two weeks recovery time before spring semester began. Because it would be a couple months out, I was asked to contact her in the second week of October to submit documents to insurance.
(Timeline note: earliest date offered was in early December)
October 10th: Documents sent to insurance, predetermination started
October 30th: Received mail from my insurance approving my procedure as medically necessary (YAY) But! This is also where things get,,, fun! Dr Whitehead’s surgical coordinator, Alyssa, is a blessing and was very helpful and prompt with me despite the fact that I had to email her pretty constantly during this general time which I still feel bad about.
Around this time, my mom got diagnosed with breast cancer, which I reported to the surgical coordinator because it influences my family history (grandmother also had breast cancer). It was asked that I get genetic testing done because this could impact my surgical procedure. Now I’m handling the setup on this between helping my mom in her process setting up consults and considering her options because there of course is a lot of crossover to the steps I’ve already completed and am familiar with.
November 1st: Very kind person at cancer genetics calls me, sends me a family history questionnaire to fill out before I can be scheduled to see a genetic counselor. Filled out the questionnaire the same day.
November 8th: Called cancer genetics to check about scheduling, office was not open so left a message. Got a call back later in the day. I have a virtual appointment with a Genetic counselor Tuesday the 14th. Current plan is a mailed saliva genetic test but I’m going to ask if theres anything I can do to get results/materials quicker. If I can’t get results/feedback by December 8th my surgery date may get deferred.
Trying not to stress too much because there is little to nothing I can do about this, and I just don’t want to be sad. I’ve kept telling myself throughout this process to not get excited and not let myself believe anything is solid because something could happen at any time that might mess up my schedule or plan, and If I convince myself I’m in the clear, those changes will hurt a lot more. So far I think thats been a good move, because this really sucks.
My surgery date is still officially scheduled as of now as well as my first post-op. I will also ideally have pre-surgical testing done December 18th should I be cleared by genetics in time (Fingers crossed!)
ALSO! Def lean on friends if/when you can during this process. It can absolutely be challenging, and having a support system is incredibly important and helpful. I’m super lucky to have really lovely and supportive friends that are around to listen to me and send me pictures of stupid little animals.
November 9th: My mama is scheduled for her double mastectomy on December 4th
November 10th: Did some shopping with my mama for recovery supplies for double mastectomy/top surgery. Having watched a million and a half transition/top surgery videos and tiktoks and having read all the blogs and posts and tweets makes you a great support for someone suddenly faced with an upcoming double mastectomy! We might go shopping this weekend for some button ups and zip ups for her, clothes shopping is better done when you can try stuff on
November 14th: Meeting w genetic counselor: Victoria Webb, one of the loveliest medical care workers I’ve ever met. Had a virtual appointment with her to discuss and set up genetic testing. I explained to her about my situation w the proximity of my surgery and tight deadline as well as my willingness to do a blood test instead of a saliva kit to get results quicker. She was so incredibly kind and good with me, ended up being able to do a saliva kit and get results in time she deserves every good thing in life.
December 18th: pre-surgical testing: This was at the main hospital, everyone was really nice but I had a really bad panic attack despite being on Xanax.
The process is sort of like getting a physical. Measurements like weight and blood pressure get taken, lots of preliminary health questions. The people working with me were really kind and I was very open with them about my anxiety, it was visually apparent though anyway because I started crying the second we even started talking about the blood draw.
Once the equipment was actually brought into the room I started to panic. Both of the women working with me were really kind and helpful and tried to distract me and keep me talking the entire time, but I did still have a really horrible panic attack. Every muscle in my body locked up and I lost all my color, took a bit to get back to a spot where I could move and talk properly because my speech was affected too. It was a bit scary but funny to think about in post. Thanked the medical staff for being patient w me as always, a good portion of the anxiety is also guilt about making things harder for them. Got through it tho. Def eat before presurgical if allowed, I didn’t and that probably didn’t help!!
———- SURGERY DAY ————-
January 8th:
Ok so surgery day:
This day was very scary. Got my phone call the Friday prior for my surgery time which ended up being 1pm and I was asked to arrive around 11. Got there at 10 and went in at 10:30.
Called up to check in then in waiting room till someone brought me back to change. I told her right away about my anxiety with the iv bc that’s legit all I could think about. Got changed right after. I was generally shaky and a little disoriented the entire time because I was panicking but everyone was very patient with me. Clothes and belongings go in a bag in a locker and you get two gowns one that faces back and one that faces front. I was given underwear and a pad as well because lucky me I got my period a couple days before my surgery.
The pre-op area is a lot of little cubicles with curtain divider things, blue soft chairs, and medical equipment. Everyone I met and spoke to was very kind, but any time someone even suggested starting my iv I would panic. I was informed it would have to be placed in my hand and that terrified me, I’m especially anxious and sensitive about my hands and fingers. I think doctors and nurses tend to misunderstand exactly where my fear is with needles and ivs. It isn’t the pain that scares me, but the concept of veins and and anything being in them. Even writing this right now is horrible so I’m going to stop w any further detail. I spent the entire two-ish hours of pre-op absolutely terrified about this iv.
I wasn’t really keeping track of time but dr whitehead came in to do markings for surgery. They had cool rainbow socks on,big fan. Having your chest drawn on and just like, moved around n shit is such an experience. Felt bad because I kept losing my balance but doctor Whitehead is cool and I am 98% less scared about them now.
Probably my most favorite person I met during my entire hospital experience was the anesthesiologist. I know he told me what his name was but I couldn’t focus on or retain information at the time. He told me we could essentially put me to sleep with gas before putting the iv in and for the first time in probably a solid week I felt like I could calm down a little. He took a look at my hand and arm to check my veins which always does freak me out a bit but I’m more used to that kind of thing at this point and I know nothing bad is going to happen. One of the nurses came in with the iv equipment and he let her know that were going to wait till in the or which was also incredibly helpful because I absolutely panicked when I saw that little supply kit again.
V nice lady brought me into the or, I’d never been in one before it was cool. They had a little music speaker which was really cool. Took off blue jacket gown and they helped me onto the table. They put a warm blanket over my legs and my chest to help me calm down. Before long they gave me a mask w fun happy sleepy time gas, they let me keep my arms on my chest for a while which was really nice because I was still scared. I started getting loopy pretty fast but I still heard when someone mentioned where the iv equipment was and panicked a little because of that. I remember feeling them take my hand for that but never actually felt anything happen. Just some fear but the gas was v helpful obvi. Someone said they would see me in a little bit, and then I was groggily waking up in recovery.
Recovery was a little rough bc the iv was still there (fully wrapped up so I couldn’t see it though which was rad) but I was still really anxious about it until it was taken out and when it was taken out. For anyone that struggles w this i did not feel them remove it, just the tape. Everything was mentally much easier after that. After a while, going over instructions w parents, a cracker , some ginger ale and some juice, my dad helped me Get dressed and I was helped out to the car in a wheel chair. Ride was smooth bc of remaining numbness and meds except a few Bumps in the road
TOP SURGERY GOTTEN
My post op date was scheduled for Jan 17th and that’s the day I got my drains out followed by several post op check-ins. First week of recovery was miserable but things exponentially approved each day past that, and I went back to school in person two weeks post-op with driving and item-carrying assistance from friends!
Will upload recovery notes at a later date! Feel free to message me with any questions, more than happy to answer and give info! I’m a bit over four months out from surgery now and thriving 🥳

2024.05.14 10:17 at_2004 Prank for a Stone Cold Principal

Prank for a Stone Cold Principal
Queen of petty and great sovereign of potatoes, hear my plea and I hope you do not judge me too harshly.
Ok, but all and all, I don’t think I did anything to over the top. Allow me to see the stage..
It’s my junior year of high school and it’s a few weeks into the new year where this story starts, my family and I had received news that my mom’s oldest brother, my uncle, had been admitted to the hospital suddenly and was having difficulty, it was especially hard for my grandparents and his two daughters. Naturally I was worried because it’s my uncle and I’m hoping that he’ll be okay, I come to find out after getting back from school that day and after picking up my brothers from school that he had passed away a bit before we had gotten home. I was devastated along with the rest of my family and everyone was making plans to fly to my grandparents house.
I did the usual song and dance of letting teachers know I would be gone along with brief reasons why including: it’s a funeral, I was staying with my grandparents and they don’t have the best internet, likelihood of any schoolwork being done was slim, please be understanding, you get the picture. Well, sometime after the actual funeral and I went to briefly checked my email because a couple of friends had been checking in on me via school email. My emotionally, physically and mentally exhausted self saw that there was an email from my Spanish teacher (who a quick FYI is also the principal, for the sake of the story is being dubbed Medusa) who said I should still be doing schoolwork and following COVID regulations regardless of the reason, while I was grieving my uncle.
And let me just say, it got worse after I got back to school. Shortly after getting back, Medusa called on me to give a presentation which I hadn’t known about beforehand and she KNEW why I didn’t have it done. She was the only teacheadult who was completely unsympathetic to my situation, even going as far as to say she had expected more from me and she was disappointed, not to mention I was already struggling to catch up in the rest of my classes so Medusa wasn’t a special case in lagging behind.
I’m sorry- but what in the ever living name of the mother of sanity did you think would happen?! I was acting like a robot for quite a while so pardon me if I’m not up to your standards lady (sorry, there’s still a lot of annoyance and anger towards this woman but it’s way more diluted than it had been originally), any respect I had for her as an adult died that day. So when the opportunity came to came her at the very least some minor inconvenience and petty vengeance for me, I took it (not entirely necessary or important to the story but Medusa is an older woman who via the school gossip grapevine was apparently a former nun, not sure how that makes sense but not my circus, not my monkeys).
A little of context for how it went down: I went to a private Catholic high school in town (I doubt anyone from there is in this thread but hello!) that had a dress code/uniform situation going on, school polo and shorts/pants in black or khaki. Anyways~ a friend of mine, calling her N, came up with the great idea of pranking the entire school population on our school computers/ emails with a free dress day (wear anything within reason), and then the email that would be sent out detailed it would set for Friday. Granted, the email had been intended to be sent by at least one person from every grade in our friend group, what ended up happening was that N and I drafted up the email on my computer because it wouldn’t hurt me as much and Medusa had it out for her, I didn’t mind since I wanted back at her. N sent the email to everyone in our grade, but it went sideways afterwards.
Later as about 10:00 that morning, I was called to Medusa’s office who had the email “I” sent pulled up. She then proceeded to all but yell at me that parents were calling the school about a supposed free dress day, how it was incredibly inappropriate and dangerous to pull something like this (it really wasn’t, this is honestly way more tame than what we had originally planned), someone could have been hurt and to come forth with anyone else involved, thanks little oops I made while trying to stay calm and not cry. I didn’t because I wasn’t about to throw N under the bus, and I was honestly fed with medusa and her bs. She eventually sent me back to class which took even longer because I just about collapsed and was so close to crying.
I was questioned if I was alright when I got because at this point everyone knew about or read the email, told them I was fine and stuck to that til my friends got their hands on me because Principal Medusa already had a reputation. I told them the details, I got my eyes more red than I would have liked but I would ok.
The kicker? The goddamn freshmen had been given permission, and by extension the rest of the students did as well, for a free dress day. I lost it and said/quote “That’s freaking bullshit!” Luckily for me, the teacher I had during that class didn’t take too much offense to me swearing and had heard through the grapevine. At this point, I still don’t know if it had been pressure from teachers, students, what I did, or a combination of everything that did it. But I don’t care, I caused her some trouble and I felt accomplished for it!
I still have the pic I took about the project lol. Should be visible for yall, but either way, I don’t think I was too bad, but do you all think?
