Definition of OCR technology

OCR is a pivotal technology in the digital era, defined by its ability to transform printed text into machine-encoded text through scanning. The essence of OCR lies in capturing images of text from paper documents using optical input devices, such as scanners.
It then employs sophisticated image processing technologies and pattern recognition algorithms to decipher these text images, converting them into formats that can be processed, edited, and searched by computers.
The advent of OCR technology has significantly accelerated the document digitization process. Before OCR, the transcription of paper documents was manual, time-consuming, and error-prone. OCR technology automates this conversion, vastly enhancing both efficiency and accuracy in handling data.
This advancement allows for quicker access to information and more reliable data management, marking a substantial step forward in the digital transformation journey.

Technical principles

The core principle of OCR technology involves converting text from paper documents into digitally processable text using complex algorithms and systematic steps. Here’s a breakdown of this transformative process:
  1. Image Preprocessing: Initially, OCR technology refines the scanned image to boost character recognition accuracy. This phase includes denoising, binarizing, and skew correcting to minimize image distortions and enhance text clarity, making it more recognizable.
  2. Character Segmentation: Following preprocessing, OCR segments the continuous text into discrete characters or words. This critical step uses image processing techniques to delineate character boundaries for precise segmentation, preparing the text for detailed analysis.
  3. Feature Extraction: Once segmented, OCR extracts defining features from each character or word, such as shape, size, and stroke. These characteristics are crucial for identifying and differentiating textual elements, setting the stage for accurate recognition.
  4. Text Recognition: In the final step, OCR matches the extracted features against a predefined character library using pattern recognition algorithms. This allows for the classification and identification of each character. The recognized text is then formatted to mirror the original document’s layout, resulting in editable text.
As an advanced tool, pdftopdf.ai leverages these OCR principles to offer cutting-edge solutions. It continuously refines its algorithms and incorporates new technologies to enhance text recognition accuracy and document editability. By improving the process and quality of converting paper documents to editable PDFs, pdftopdf.ai significantly boosts efficiency and manageability for users, streamlining document processing, editing, and sharing.

2024.05.15 12:47 Either-Line9384 Opinions on buying “cheap” E90’s that need work done?

Recently discovered the E90 BMW’s and I’ve taken a liking to them—I’ve been hunting around online, and this FB marketplace 2007 328xi with ~170k mi for 3k caught my eye. Also has a manual + the cold weather package I’m looking for.
The catch is that the car cranks but doesn’t start, and is throwing two codes according to the owner: P1055 and P0341. Did some research and some people say that the voltage regulator on the alternator needs to be replaced, others say that it could be the Valvetronic motor that needs replacing. A BMW scanner is needed to actually tell what’s going on with the P1055. The P0341 is the camshaft position sensor, may need to be replaced. I’m a little skeptical that those are the only problems because shouldn’t those only cause a misfire? My theory is that the P1055 overvoltage fried the electricals of the car but that may be a stretch.
I don’t plan on buying this specific car at the moment but I’m curious your opinions on N52’s like this in general that need some work done.
I don’t have much mechanical experience but I’m very willing to do the work myself and plan to invest my (6-7k) budget in the car + preventative maintenance. The plan is to make it my daily, especially because I enjoy the extra work it takes to make these reliable. If it’s a bad idea, I’d also appreciate some tips for a college student who loves his Camry but wants to wrench on a cooler car with a better driving experience while still in college.

2024.05.15 05:54 andy_jay_ CPU encoding not respecting bitrate setting

When comparing the quality difference between cpu and gpu transcoding of an MPEG2 file, I noticed that the CPU transcoded file bitrate is about double of what was set in the flow (2775 vs 1000 kbps). The GPU transcoded version bitrate was also higher at 1223kbps, but i'm not as concerned about that.
How can I get Tdarr to respect the bitrate setting when CPU transcoding?

2024.05.15 04:10 Retrosset 2003 Toyota Corolla Misfire

Hi, hoping for some help. Picked up my first car back from my grandparents. Corolla with 170k. Seemed fine. Had a misfire and evap leak. Changed the valve cover gasket along with new plugs, and installed a new gas tank. Runs pretty good, but it would give a code at high rpm’s for cylinder 1 misfire. Tested everything including plugs, compression, injectors, coils, air leaks, etc. bought a new OBDII scanner which showed weird voltages with the MAF and o2 sensor. Cleaned the MAF and replaced the sensor. Assumed maybe a weak spring for one of the valves. Then, alternator went bad, changed that and started it got a very bad misfire at idle. Even though it threw a code at high rpm’s it didn’t actually run bad. Not sure what the issue is. Any help is greatly appreciated.

2024.05.15 03:39 Standard-Joke-4376 2017 Hyundai Elantra crank but won’t start or starts for a couple seconds and stalls

Just like the title says. My 2017 Hyundai Elantra (145,000mi) will crank but won’t start or will stall shortly after starting. I hooked up an OBD2 scanner and got five error codes P0598, P0076, P2088, P0079, P0125. Those all seem to be caused by the cooling system and shouldn’t stop my car from starting. Was wondering if anyone had any advice for getting my car back on the road? I should also mention that I recently replaced my Thermostat.

2024.05.15 03:34 Affectionate_Owl8702 Crash sensor issue?

I’m a mechanic. Some may call shade tree but I’m smart enough to know when to ask for help. I’ve got a 2010 Volvo s40 T5 air bag light is on I scanned it with a snap on scanner it says a specific crash sensor it to blame. I’m just curious. Is that something I can do myself without setting off all the airbags? If so do I just disconnect the battery and swap out the sensor for a dealership one or is there programming or anything of that nature with this issue? Can post the code if it helps but that wouldn’t be till tomorrow

2024.05.15 02:54 TheMerchantofPhilly 9CC0 Adaptive Headlight Code

Hey everyone,
Long time viewer, first time poster. I have 2013 e93 M3 with the adaptive headlight warning and my scanner reads code 9CC0. I inspected the bulbs, motors, and modules and from what I can tell everything looks normal and without corrosion. I don’t want to code out the adaptive headlights, but wanted some guidance on how to resolve this issue. Preliminary research suggests that I replace the module, but have a few questions.
  1. The 9CC0 code says “Communication w/ step motor controller on the right disrupted.” Is this code for drivers side or passengers side headlight?
  2. Which module needs to be replaced? 717158701 or 130732915301?
  3. I’ve read that used modules don’t need to be re-coded, is this true? Or should I expect to re-code the replacement module?
I’ve attached a couple pictures. Any guidance is appreciated!

2024.05.15 01:40 Broukedou Sportwagen 2016 - Christmas tree dash issue!

This morning while driving, the ABS, TPMS, ECS, and air bags lights all came on. Nothing sudden happened at that time, so I assumed that some sensor failed. Parked the car, then started the car again, and these lights did not come on again.
Couple hours later, just after starting the car, I noticed the temp gauge was already at 90, and climbing close to 160. Engine rev 4000rpm limit started as well. I stopped the car, then started it again. These issues disappeared, temp gauge showed a solid 90*C. Then, all the lights from the morning came up again, plus Brake Workshop (which I have no idea what the meaning of this is). Again, the car is behaving normally.
Tested the battery, and charging power, both seem fine. The battery is less than a year old. I connected my obd2 scanner, got a low coolant flow code (possible, the bowl is a bit low, but the coolant is touching the minimum line), but no other codes.
I'm having a hard time finding what to investigate next. The first lights pointed me toward an ABS sensor, but the coolant temp seems at odd with these issues. Any tips?
Thank you

2024.05.14 23:03 BristolBikerMan UK 21 MT09 SP cold start issue

I’ve had an intermittent problem with my MT09 for a year now.
I took it to a local garage who did a scan and said they found a fault code for the o2 sensor. There was no CEL light on, is it possible to get a soft fault code like this that doesn’t trigger the CEL? I have an adapter and Bluetooth ODB scanner but it was clear for me, maybe I scanned it wrong.
Anyway, I believe the mechanic as also they found the O2 sensor harness on the left hand side of the bike by the engine side casing, the bike side female socket was broken, they replaced the connector only, pushing the original cables into it.
This objectively fixed the problem, and what I noticed for the first time was that the bike would cold start properly
By this, I mean in cold weather I would then start the bike and let the clutch out in 1st gear, and it would pull hard up the hill out of my driveway with no throttle input at all.
This seems like how it should function to me, with the revs dropping as the bike warms up.
It did that for a few days, and since then it had become unreliable again.
I start the bike, it starts fine. I let the clutch out even with a little throttle, it stalls.
It needs constant throttle input until warm and is jerkey and feels like the fuelling is off.
It feels just like the cold start system is simply not working.
I have no reason to believe this is a new fault as the symptoms are the same. I have inspected the connector and visually all looks well, but I am suspecting it is not well, or the sensor is somehow at fault now rather than the connector.
How can I test these things?
Thanks for any help, this is driving me mad on such a new bike.
It had the full akra system, suspect previous owner broke the connector fitting it.
Edit; just to clarify. The problem is not intermittent anymore, it consistently behaves like this from cold and behaves perfectly once fully warm.

2024.05.14 22:15 tjmerklin How to know if you have brake pad with sensors

I can’t find anything concrete to answer this besides taking off the wheel and looking. Does anyone know of another way to check. Car is a 2017 GLI Autobahn w/DSG. The vw parts website has been no help and list both with and without sensor front pads for my car. I also have a obd2 scanner so I could look through the coding if it’s located in there

2024.05.14 22:10 The_OG_Chad A medical / game overhaul to maximize depth/immersion with mostly current code and mechanics. A compromise to bridge “hardcores” + “casuals” and not killing expensive medical ships.

It’s a little scattered doing it on my phone. I’ll get home and clean it up. But I want peoples input. I really think this would work and it’s totally realistic. I think CIG needs some guidance and the medical changes offer the perfect moment to add these features in the game.
I have been a developer for years and I can see CIG trying balance what’s realistic and what they promised. Every startup I was with came to a point where they realized their proposals were far too aggressive, and the higher ups would not even listen to ideas unless they were easy to implement.
So, I’ve been trying to come up with ideas that take minimal effort for maximum gains. These are fairly simple, but will add depth or will lay the groundwork for easy future development.
I think this is the perfect topic for my first idea. The medical system is tricky, but so important. Right now, the medical system is boring and doesn’t add much to the game and with a few tweaks it could add 25% more and be a major part imo while feeling more immersive and satisfying both parties. We need to look to other amazing games like Eve online and cyberpunk imo.
The hard-core fans want investment and death to cost. Now that I am older and have a family, I understand how hard it is to balance that in time to play Now that I am older and have a family, I understand how hard it is to balance that and time to play. It’s really hard to get your average gamer to want to invest 30 minutes to simply respawn.
So in my opinion, we need a system that…
  1. Makes death inconvenient and costly but with several ways to pay the “bill”, not only costly at that moment so the player decides quitting is easier.
  2. Makes the game far more immersive and makes the game deeper, not shallower. In real life in the future, in the future, medical would be a vast portion of warfare and finance and exploration and exploitation. Not just a glorified HP counter.
  3. Makes all medical ships useful and relevant. Cannot have a shallow system where one ship is clearly the best.
  4. Makes healthcare and biology affect all the other parts of the game…. It is our bodies and minds after all. In the future, the wealthy will modify their bodies, just like their ships.
  5. Uses a lot of these modules that are currently window dressing, but have amazing application. Things like blood pressure and reflex times and damage reduction and bio scanners and the HUD and incorporates it to a tiered clone system.
TLDR is We need a Cyberpunk / Eve style futuristic bio medical system with weapons and implants that completely change a persons capabilities and a jump clone system that reflects this. T5-T1 clones 5 being a throwaway and 1 being a Spartan from Halo. T1 would have the exact HUD we have now with additional systems. T4 and less is like the game in photo mode with nothing. People take for granted how much information you get from the HUD and who would really have access to it?
The beauty of this is while it sounds like a lot and would add 25-50% more careers, economys, gameplay and strategy’s from a gameplay perspective. Its actually not much at all from a development point of view. It would reuse all of the current systems now, and add a few skills like scanning / hacking and weapons like EMP, Darts to humans. Generally, this is how it would work.
T5 clone is a meat bag with a 4 hour life used as a spare tire. It’s the base level. Operated similar to when you’re drunk because The damage from the cryo. You can do stuff, but you are very limited. They can be carried around in 1 SCU containers or special lockers in big ships for dangerous work like reactor repairs etc.
T4 clone is a meatbag the same we are inhabiting right now IRL. Basically this is exactly like you turning off the game hud in photo mode. These cannot be cold stored and reused. No HUD or endgame information input at all outside of your Moby glass watch.
T3 clone is the first of the implants. It can take one implant. Combat might allow thermal vision or the local map and radar and crosshair. Exploration might have the ability to bookmark or see things on your HUD that you scanned from your ship. Conversation might add elements to charisma and talking people into doing things, getting better prices on goods, or hearing rumors about opportunities, etc. Covert allow you to scan people and check their inventory and run checks on who they are, what crimes they have committed, etc.
Basically it’s a stripped down version of the hud that’s active all the time even without helmets. It has to work in tandem with your mobi. You have to select one element.
T2 clone has upgraded reflexes, can run longer, survive more dmg and has the complete HUD suite. It has the bandwidth and upgrades to support 1 implant and 1 physical modification. Everything CIG has been adding can be added to the HUD but you have to switch between exploration, combat, conversation, covert etc. 1 physiological mod or weapon. Like a brain hacking chip that can open ship doors, and emp that shut down all electronics in a 20 m radius for 15 seconds or a drone or fiber optics camera. Then there are all the illegal modifications like hidden blades, Multi launchers with everything from neurotoxin to EMP darts.
T1 clone is very costly and made for combat and for solo explorers who need complete autonomy. 20% more hp, and basically 20% better everything. It has the complete HUD with the ability to Connect to the data stream of two ships in your party. If your buddys ship detect an enemy ship coming in it would pop up in your actual vision as a big red square with information. You would have the ability to zoom without a helmet on and have limited scanning just like your ships function on everything.
It could 2 implants. 1 legal and 1 illegal implant. Emp, Hacker etc
It also has two physical modifications. Blades, darts etc
Also the tier 2 and 1 are the only clones that are not harmed using heavy or power armor. The others are slowly harmed by s by the rapid and jarring servos, etc. so they are all time limited.
Imagine how amazing this would make the universe in general. You would have ripper docs implanting stolen, or military implants. Corpses would now be valuable if they had upgraded organs for implants. People would become targets just for their implants.
If you killed an assassin coming after you, you could take his cool tools.
Sometimes corpses could be worth as much as a ship. You could actually ransom back bodies.
You could have a repo men coming to collect the implants. Organ traders and human traffickers.
But it would also make T1 and 2 ships completely necessary in combat because they were the only ones who could rec clone military units.
Best of all. All of this code is already there. All of the heads up display and all these cool features they’ve been adding Would be the implants themselves.
The game the Way it is it doesn’t make sense that a Moby glass can produce all of this data. It makes the game more immersive as well.
It doesn’t have to be over the top like cyberpunk. But we almost have brain implants now and everything is going wireless, you really think in the future they’re gonna be wearing a wristwatch? Everything will be brain implant and wetware.
With these easy changes, we solve our medical problems and add a ton of depth along with the ability to add as much depth as we want.
All you would need is to create the UI for this, but the game already has a lot of that with its biological scanners. All the balancing could happen by biologically if you’re using implants, etc.
Jump clones would cost a lot of money to make, and healthcare in real life is one of the most expensive things. But just like the hospital doesn’t make you pay your bill the moment you’re out of surgery, we need to spread the cost to a later time.
The time the player needs to respawn is usually after they have already planned and loaded up and executed, but didn’t succeed. This is time where casual players set aside their block of playable hours. (when the kids are asleep and wife is watching something etc) So by making it too costly at that moment, ( 30 minutes to an hour, getting geared up and in ship flying back) your odds are they will just quit, which is not engaging for other players and your odds of a major war or event go down drastically. What’s good for the game and what was so successful in Eve was the fights after the opening.
Instead the front loading all the time investment, Charge 5-25k for the biomaterial. spread the cost of the death to a later time and let them pay off their debt when they log back in.
We also want to make the smaller tier 3 ships necessary while not killing the t1 and 2 beds.

2024.05.14 21:15 stoicmyego Electrical issues? [Mazda Tribute]

I've got a 2003 Mazda Tribute ES, with the 3.0 V6. Was driving, and out of nowhere, it stalled out. Started back up once, made it a little bit down the road, and it did the same, but hasn't started since. I've replaced the battery, the starter, the spark plugs and coils, and have tried swapping the starter relay out. As soon as I turn the ignition to start, the battery symbol pops up, the starter clicks a single time, and the electronics on the inside shut off. The wires going to the battery get hot extremely fast as well. Is it possible I have a short in the ground cable here? I've tried two brand new batteries now. The light comes on before even trying to start. I'm at a loss currently.
I've run it through an OBD2 scanner, and it throws no codes at all. Any advice?

2024.05.14 18:01 eatshitbucko New Homeowner - Locating Studs, Electrical, and Plumbing in Plaster and Lath Walls

Hello!
My wife and I just bought our first home, a 1933 colonial with plaster and lath walls. House is in great shape but I have been racking my brain on the best methods to use when going forward on hanging things/aesthetic improvements.
One thing I definitely plan on doing is putting up crown and wainscotting in a lot of different rooms, not the pre made panels, but chair rail and picture moulding. Likely going to do full height in the upstairs hallway, 1/3 height in my office, potentially full height in the primary bedroom, etc. so I am going to be shooting a lot of nails.
I am on the fence between these two stud finders:
Franklin M210 ($63.00)
Bosch D-Tect 120 ($250)
The Bosch has a few more features and apparently scans deeper but not sure if it is worth the extra nearly $200, it also seems to get more conflicting reviews. I know (if I am lucky and there is no wire mesh) that I will be able to use the stud finder to locate studs and live wires, but I am mostly worried about identifying piping as well, as the stud finder may pick it up but of course won't reflect the difference between a stud. We have oil and steam heater and radiators in every single room so I assume there is piping going all over the place.
I assume I should be able to use a rare earth magnet to cross check the stud finder to help determine if what is being picked up is a stud or a pipe as the magnet would stick to the stud nails and not the pipe but I am still a little worried. Should I pick up this camera scope to use as well to be extra sure? I could always drill where I plan to put the chair rail to eliminate the need of too much patching.
Please provide me with any recommendations you may have in terms of tools, means and methods, or anything else. I would greatly appreciate figuring out the best method so when we move in 2 weeks from now I have a game plan.
And yes, I will be checking the stud finder on myself first to give it the first true calibration.
THANK YOU!

2024.05.14 17:29 DerekFisherGOAT 23 Jetta Cylinder 2 Misfire

23 Jetta Cylinder 2 Misfire
Second time this happened to me. First time was at 17.5k miles (they replaced an injector), this time at 22k.
Flashing light appears when I start the car and then the light remains on.
Using a scanner, I got code P0302 and P0316 which are both for cylinder #2 misfire/imbalance.
I know the 23’s have had head gasket issues, do you think I am being hit with that same faultiness? Or is this just an unrelated coincidence?
My production month is 07/2023 which I also thought was supposedly safe from these faults.
Im kind of upset with this, but surely it will be covered under new car warranty. If my car does prove to be a lemon, will VW provide me a new one? Never dealt with anything like this.
Any advice or comments greatly appreciated
