so, yesterday at around 1:30 am, I ordered Burger King.. my dasher picked it up and it said it would arrive at 2:11 am. I checked at 2:00 again and they were stopped at a really sketchy part of the town I’m in. maybe like 10 minutes later, I checked and they were still there but showing inside of an apartment building. (my bf works for dd and lets me track him and I know it’s pretty accurate as to where someone is showing, whether it’s inside or outside of a building).
half an hour later I looked and they were showing behind what was an apartment building, I looked it up on maps and the apartment was blurred, the only house on the street that was blurred. I had messaged them at this point, asking if they were okay, they didn’t respond. an hour later, I called them a few times and got no answer so I decided to call our cities non-emergency line, give them the location and name and ask if they would check it out because doordash couldn’t get a hold of the driver either and both me and the support were very concerned, but the police didn’t find anything.
I called doordash and asked if they could contact the cops themselves and they said customer support couldn’t do anything but they’d report it. I didn’t want to cancel the order because I had their location and I was so concerned about them, I didn’t want to not have it anymore. after three hours of trying to get doordash to do something, I called HR and they said they were extremely concerned and they’d reach out to authorities.
I was listening to the city scanner and I didn’t hear anything. I went to sleep and woke up to my messages to them being read. they were located on the other side of town at this point, again in a sketchy area and were still not answering calls or texts from me and doordash.
now, pretty much 24 hours later, their location is in a sketchier part of a DIFFERENT STATE! I called and two men picked up, one was giggling and the other one seemed nervous but both said that I had the wrong number. I’m unsure of what to do because I am so concerned with the safety of my dasher and am still connected to their location, I’ve never seen anything like this before.

2024.05.14 07:02 QuestionForYou- Moved from IC to Mgmt: Showing me the way to the exit?

TL;DR: Am I being moved from IC to managing more & more people, at stagnant comp, with increasing workloads and fewer resources, as a way of getting me to leave?
I chose to go IC after 20+ years managing a stream of people thru leadership dev programs. Been IC for 15 years.
After an exec departure last year, I was moved to new dept & boss, same stakeholders, double workload, and told to take a couple people on. Second person & budget were never approved, transition was less than 2 weeks for work once supported by 6 PT people to just 2 FT (one being me).
This year, got more people and new dept plus current one. Still no comp/title change (I suspect top of range/band), and new stakeholders are very contentious. I spend twice as much time setting expectations than it would take to get sh*t done, and coaching my team in navigating —they get it fast, but takes time to cover. Slapping on a smile and rolling with it because market sucks for many like me at this age & stage.
Just got wind my team is going to expand again in people & scope two months after the LAST expansion. Since no-raise/title info came down in the last month, I don’t expect that to change. Original stakeholders who had me as IC are not happy sharing. I’m not expecting any glowing reviews based on 360s, they want undivided attention back. I didn’t expect longtime original stakeholders to be downright a-holes about so many things. Planning, budgets, expectations, scoping — everything, they have outright stated, is not enough if it’s not like it was.
Getting burned out fast on 80+ hr weeks. There’s a reason I didn’t and don’t want to manage people or admin, and why IC was intentional on my part.
Last but not least — I came on board with an acquisition a few years ago. Base didn’t change but raises were slower and lower, RSUs disappeared, pension top-off and bonus all but stopped. I wouldn’t mind the 30% overall comp reduction before inflation if it was still IC. And, BTW, large established company is not in a pinch.
Thought dawned on me tonight, perhaps this is some kind of constructed discharge, or forced quit? Keep piling on until burnout is complete and get a higher-band person out? Or until budget & people aren’t adequate to deal with demand and have a scapegoat?
I’m doubly-angry this week because a major life event planned for a year is now also getting cut short, and fire drills for the last month completing the latest transition has left little time to prepare the way I’d like to. Exhausted.
So:
Not a big fan of confrontations any more. I had a decent hard-a$$ front when needed and good at raising hell—tho rarely needed — when I managed larger teams eons ago. I just hate doing it any more. Yet another reason I chose IC.
So — is this a nudge or a butt-kick out the door? Suggestions?

I live in California. I paid cash for a 2021 Nissan Versa on December 8, 2022. My car was stolen on June 6, 2023. I was devastated. My insurance company tried to lowball me. I refused offers until they told me ,"This claim has gone on for too long, we are closing it out" This happened on July 8, 2023. I agreed to take $1948,000 on a vehicle I had paid $23,000 with only 12 thousand miles on it. They demanded my Certificate of Title and my Fob Keys, which I mailed, overnite. No money was ever received because within 3 hours after I mailed keys and Pink Slip (Certificate of Title), the police called me to tell me car recovered, looks fine, come pick it up. I was so happy. I did not want the money. I had put so much money into my car in 4 months, and I owned it outright, and had worked 2 jobs for years. So I called insurance company, so happy, let them know My car had been recovered. It took two weeks before they mailed the keys back, but car was in mint condition, had been driven only 9 miles (joyride?) parked in a huge, Walmart, parking lot. I asked for the title to please be mailed back as well. They kept ignoring me. I went to register my car this past December. Only to be denied due to DMV looking at me like a criminal and telling me I had already been paid $19000.00 and vehicle is now owned by my insurance company . I tried explaining , asked for help...they told me Esurance must fix this, you cannot do anything as they legally own the vehicle. I call my claims adjustor, hysterical, and asked him why is my vehicle registered to my insurance company and why does the DMV believe I have been paid $19000,00. He literally told me, "Oh now your just making this up." I tried to ask him to investigate please, he told me, "since you have raised your voice I am hanging up now.' Im downplaying just how rude he was. He basically called me a liar and hung up on me. I was crying but I was not mean, I was almost pleading. He refused to answer my calls and no one else at the office would speak to me, they just forwarded my calls to him. I was in perfect health up until this point. But as each day passed, I begaan to shake from stress, burst into tears, became incredibly depressed, became unable to sleep, spent all my non working hours trying to find a solution. I was unable to concentrate at work. This finally went from beginning to have panic attacks but ended with me waking up after being in a coma, on a ventilator, for 14 days/ I had no idea where I was, was unable to remember how I got to the hosptal or why. I had two Myocardial infarctions, the Doctor explained that I went into full cardiac arrest and a co-worker gave me CPR for 16 minutes until the ambulance arrived. i had a second Cardiac arrest The Doctor told me, shortly after they had settled my into ICU. That one, He told me, they almost were unable to bring me back from. Thank God for The Doctors refusal to stop working on me, my wonderful coworker and The inventor of the Defribulator! Before my release, The Cardiologist told me they could find absolutely no reason for my Heart attack, i have low blood pressure, have no heart or health problems, no family history. They were dumbfounded. i gave him a brief synopsis of my car insurance situation, He told me, ;Stress, it was the stress" "That stress will kill you, you must work on your stress". They referred me to a social worker and a psychologist. When I finally began to regain stress and began to try and demand that my insurance company fix this because they were literally killing me, I felt. I sent a letter, pointing out every single thing that happened, all correspondence, how rudely I was being treated and I sent over my final Diagnosis from the hospital. They never acknowledged my letter. It is now May 13, 2024. have seen attorneys I cannot afford. I was told by DMV Investigations that I definitely need an attorney. Ive been put on Temporary Disability and since I am unable to register my car, I cannot drive it. I am unable to survive on what disability pays. I am losing all hope. I will probably lose my apartment, and may have to live in my car, but my greatest fear now is that my kitty and myself will be on the street, because if they take my car (its illegal to even park an unregistered car on a public street ( is what I was told by the Van Nuys supervisor of the DMV. ) Yet I have asked the Dmv to tell me if there is anyway we can resolve this. I just want them to know i was paid nothing and was finally sent a letter admitting that I wasnt paid anything and it was not my insurance company who made the mistake, it was Copart, and I should take it up with Copart. Okay, this is so beyond absurd. Copart who? Why do I pay full coverage insurance/ when I should pay almost nothing, as this is totally "Do it yourself-Figure it out yourself" insurance. The Claims adjuster told me last week, that they were not going to help me due to my 'Refusal to Communicate with us in January". I got so angry and told him, "So now , You say that I refused to communicate with you?" He said, "Yes, we do." I said," I know for a fact, you never made a single attempt to contact me, while I was in the hospital , after having a heart attack, because phones and emails keep records, and you know, there is no record of anything coming from you or my insurance company . The records I am looking forward to hearing will be all the calls between you and myself. my insurance company claims that every phone call will be taped, and I look forward to the day your employers listen to just how unprofessional, rude and outright sadistic you have treated me. Because you forgot who you work for, sir, and if you did not have policyholders, you would not have a job. You seemed to really enjoy mocking my illness, calling me a liar, hanging up on me. in fact I think we will hear that you threatened to hang up, not look into my claim, and said you were done with my problems and would no longer take my calls.. I have never been treated so cruelly, so rudely, and all I wanted was for my vehicle, which your company never paid a cent to me for, would be transferred back into my name, because I did not make this mistake and I cannot fix this mistake. All I ever wanted from you to fix the mistake that was made by your company You lost nothing in this claim, I only ask that you right a wrong. I have a car that cannot be registered or driven. I oay for your company to ;make me whole' but i would have been better off if i had no insurance at all. My car was found, my car would still be in my name and I could have registered it. Obviously, your never going to help me or make things right' he said, 'i have done all I needed to do, i mailed you the Certificate of Title, so your claim is Closed.' So I have an unsigned Certificate of Title in the name of my insurance company . Which does nothing to help me. Any ideas? So far beyond hopeless, i have lost faith, have lost all joy, no longer leave my apartment. I will do anything, but i just have no clue and no hope. Thank you so much.

Made a stupid mistake, ig I deserve this, but still very angry with HDFC.
Started job at Software MNC last year, salary 1LPA+. Created HDFC salary account right after joining, they offered Millenia at that time. I wanted Regalia Gold, so refused. (turns out they also offered Regalia Gold to folks at same salary level at the same time, idky the guy didn't offer it to me)
I applied for Millenia LTF a few months later, and the guy told me it can be upgraded to Regalia after a few months when upgrade offer shows up. Used the card for a few months, then reached out to my company's HDFC POC for an upgrade. He kept on assuring and delaying for some reason, several weeks of back and forth over mail and calls.
I got a call on May 2 from someone in HDFC. They shared their name, but I don't remember it. They had all details of my case, and told me LTF upgrade is not possible. They asked me to put in a request for cancellation of Millenia, and new Regalia will be LTF. They would begin the process for Regalia as soon as this card is terminated.
Talked to them again on May 4, but card closure was not completed by then, so they advised me to wait. On May 7 the card was terminated. I've been trying to call them since then, but they have not been picking up.
Reached out to HDFC POC, he asked who called you. Arey bhai I don't remember their name, random stranger calls me with all my case details I will naturally assume he's with your team?
He shared a contact of someone from his team, and now this person says Regalia is no longer LTF since May. Took number of the person who contacted me initially, said he will look into it, now I'm waiting for an update.
All in all almost a month of delayed correspondence and lack of communication, I had not expected this much hassle just to get a card.
PS I don't feel like pursuing this card anymore, do recommend better options for cards with a simpler onboarding.

I'm thinking of a gap year right now. My recent admissions cycle yielded dissatisfactory results. I'm currently giving Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and GPR in May/June 2024 (A Levels). I'll be giving History, English Language, and Further Mathematics (A Levels) in Oct/Nov 2024 as well.
SAT: 1520 (I'll be retaking it for a score over 1550)
GPA: School doesn't do GPA but it is equivalent to around 4.0/4.0
Major: Physics/Engineering
FGLI
International student from a third world country asking for a ton of aid
ECs: I've got decent extracurriculars. A few wins in some international engineering competitions (can't name for doxxing purposes) and of course local ones. In addition to that, I've served in a leadership positions for the charitable sector of a hospital. I've been debating for some time now with a few awards. Additionally, I will be trying out for my country's hockey team and I play polo for fun. During the summers, I am to get my research published as well.
What else can/should I do to ensure that I fare better in the next admissions cycle. Any form of advice will be greatly appreciated.

I can’t say what my job is as they could take potentially legal actions for this or fire me. Our HR is not doing their jobs and is going behind associates back with their report on managers. I don’t have anything to provide the ethics line to prove it and I’m worried if I make the call nothing will be done. Here’s an example of what I KNOW they’ve done: a manager said something highly inappropriate to an associate and she reported. HR went directly to the manager and told them (which they aren’t supposed to do) and he lied and they just believed him. This affected the associate so badly they had anxiety anytime they saw them and it took a toll on her work and she lost her job. They were supposed to investigate it. They don’t care about anyone’s well being at this job. They’d rather cover it up. Any ideas on how to take action to make sure the ethics team will do something?

Okay for approved for discover student credit card. Days after my card was mailed I was called saying it was frozen because I needed to fill out a consent form. After a week hold was lifted. Today I got my card and paid one bill. Try to purchase something under 100 and it wasn't working. So I used the app to messaged someone. And this is was they said "In reviewing your account our security team placed a hold on the transaction. They want to ensure you are making the purchases. Our Customer Protection Team is happy to help you 24/7 by phone, due to the sensitivity of fraud concerns they are not available through this platform. Please call 1-800-347-3102 as soon as possible." They told me to call 1800-203-4969. I still have accesses to my account no emails as hours ago. My account isn't locked at all I can still log in and see everything is "ok". So what I'm asking is basically does anyone else know wth they can possibly want now.

Important things to keep in mind!
  1. Opting in means that the publisher is allowing their game to be on GFN. But, it is not a guarantee NVIDIA will actually add it. It takes a little bit of work to test and add a game. In the past, we've found that most reasonably popular games that opt-in do get added. But, for lesser known titles, it is more hit and miss.
  2. These are NOT the only games that will arrive on GFN! Some of the biggest Steam titles to land on GFN did so without opting in beforehand (opting in only right as they arrived). Plus, games coming from other stores (Epic, Xbox, BattleNet etc.) are not included in this list for obvious reasons.

I have a story I would like to share with everyone.
My ex fiancé who was 30 at the time and I(31f) but was 26 at the time this took place, we were an inseparable couple. We did everything together Travel, go out places locally, etc. my ex travelled a lot for his job,which is how we ended up travelling together. Anyways this one trip he took I couldn’t go I was sick and I wanted to work on wedding plans. I trusted him completely,he reassured me nothing was going to happen on his work trip. The wedding plans were in place and everything was smooth sailing from when he got back from his two week trip.
Flash forward to our wedding day 7 months later everything was going smoothly,everyone was seated my ex was standing at the front with his groomsmen and my bridesmaids were at the front as well. I walked down,I got to the front, and I noticed a woman I didn’t recognize sitting at the back.when the ceremony started and the preacher asked if anyone objected to this marriage,and the lady I didn’t recognize stood up called out my exes name and announced she was carrying his baby. I don’t remember much as I ended up fainting,but I do remember when I woke up from my faint I was crushed. I saw the look on all my family and friends looking super shocked. I was so embarrassed that I ran out of the ceremony and got one of my friends to drive me to their place.
One of my other friends brought the pregnant woman over to my place so I could hear her side of the story before I confronted my ex. She told me they worked together in Italy (he went there for work purposes for the two weeks) they had connected,went out to dinner and before they knew it one thing lead to another and yea they slept together. She told me she knew it was his baby as she didn’t sleep with anyone else after that.i asked her how far along she was,she was about 6 months pregnant. I was still upset and I asked her if she knew about me and she said she didn’t know about me. She told me,he told her that he just broke up with his girlfriend back home.
When she left I got a hold of that shit for brains ex fiancé of mine. I told him to fess up as his fling confessed everything to me. He caved and told me the truth which matched what the fling had said. I was so devastated I ended up blocking him,moved most of my shit out of the place I now refuse to call our home as it was now tainted for me.
When I came back for the last of the stuff he cried and begged me to take him back but I told him to go pound sand. That was the last time I had spoke to him in person. I found it very unfortunate as his parents were the sweetest people I know and when I talked to his mom a couple weeks after that,she was crushed that her son did that to me and wished I was able to be her daughter in law. She had two boys never had a daughter.
The last time I heard about him was just a few months ago. He did end up marrying the fling he had a baby girl with,but they are now divorced. He tried reaching out to me last months and told him I was not interested in speaking to him and found somebody that actually respects me and has never hurt me.
Sorry for the long story.
